    Wonderful graphics alone don't make for a good game. The storyline in several places just make you want to throw your controller at the TV.....

    So I'm seeing a lot of people who haven't even played the game have a lot to say about it. Most of what they are saying in detail about the game are either coming from their personal feelings, or skillups review.

    In my opinion this game lives up to part one, and I can say that because well, I have played both games. The story is still amazing and I actually like this more.     Now to those who are basing everything off of, well, nothing really, I have one ask. Play it through, or at least watch someone do it. The things you THINK you know, you don't really know. The people who you claim to know in this game, you don't. This game goes in far deeper than any leak you have seen. Please stop judging 30hrs worth of a game on 3hrs that you know nothing about.    … Expand

    Wow, it will be hard to find some another master piece like that, it's a great in so many levels. I never think that they could do a better Game than the first, but they really did it.

    The Last of Us II is a very controversial game to say the least from Joel’s death to how it went down, to playing as his killer, the LGBTQ stuff but honestly the game is a very good and enjoyable game there are some plot details I would have done different but they are easily overlooked in my opinion. The gameplay was smooth and pleasing, the graphics were beautiful, the music phenomenal,The Last of Us II is a very controversial game to say the least from Joel’s death to how it went down, to playing as his killer, the LGBTQ stuff but honestly the game is a very good and enjoyable game there are some plot details I would have done different but they are easily overlooked in my opinion.     First of all, my own thoughts.
    The game is one of a kind, comparing to everything else out there. The gameplay mechanics are amazing, a step up from the first part in all ways. I like how they kept the core gameplay elements of the first part and then added more elements like new combat mechanics and also some new platforming elements, similar to what we saw in UC4. The combat is brutal    First of all, my own thoughts.

The combat is brutal which makes it realistic. Some kills feel satisfactory some make you sorry, especially when it comes to killing dogs in this game. This sort of feeling that makes you question your own humanity is a huge part of what makes this game great. There are no good or bad characters, there are people who make decisions based on their own need to survive in this brutal and unforgiving world ND has created for us. The whole LGBT aspect in the game didn't feel pushed at all. If that is what ruined the game for you than i feel sorry for you.
    As a survival horror game it truly delivered. Resources are scarce on higher difficulties, both human and infected enemies are scary as hell, especially in the darker enviroments.
    Overall the story was amazing. Sad, but amazing at the same time. It gave you a bitter feeling, but also a tiny bit of hope. Because that was what ND intended.
    I highly recommend you to play the game fully yourself and not judge it from streams or spoiler reviews. This game has to be played by yourself to enjoy and fully undesrtand it. 10/10 would replay agian and again.    … Expand

    So disappointing. First game had an incredibly deep story line that had me hooked the whole way. This one was shallow, guided by the principal of "ram my wokeness down your throat". Nothing pulls you out of the immersion of a game like that does.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's not overly stretch this review. The last of us part II is a MASTERPIECE. Not a rare but a UNIQUE gem in the gaming industry.
    VISUALS/GRAPHICS: 9.8/10
    The visuals, and the overall technical realisation of the game is nearly perfect, except for the fire visuals and effects that are clearly limited by this console's generation's problems. There are some little glitches all over the game but they are almost meaningless.
    GAMEPLAY/ANIMATIONS: 9.8/10
    The gameplay is renewed and restyled but clearly inspired by the first chapter's fundamentals. It betters every single aspect of it and adds new mechanics that keep the game's overall style. The playable maps are enormous and almost completely explorable, filled with curiosities, touching and heartbreaking side stories and collectibles so detailed only Naughty Dog could bless us with. The combat sequences are extremely satisfying, flexible and realistic, as you can reestablish a stealthy profile by running into the grass and keeping a prone position. The A.I., especially the humans enemies' sets new standards for the whole industry, enemies can flank you, easily overwhelm you. They all have names and they can get angrier if you kill their friends or their dogs, the new type of enemies, extremely sensible to every noise and smell. Killing enemies in The last of us part II is not an easy decision. Enemies will scream painfully or angrily, dogs will mourn their owners. The infected enemies are of course less intelligent than humans but overall more dangerous and renewed. Runners are now more aggressive and overwhelming, stalkers are terrifying and extremely deadly when it comes to a close combat with them. Clickers can easily spot any noise you produce and quickly kill your character. The new shamblers are extremely dangerous as they are die hard, violent monsters that are able to eject burning spores that can sometimes trap you in a corner, hopeless. The bloaters are way more difficult and violent in this game and will cause you a lot of problems. The new Rat King is surely the most challenging boss fight of the whole series. Furthermore the two characters have different weapons and abilities that can be used and improved. I noticed the falling animation was a little less taken care of.
    STORY MODE AND PLOT: 9.5/10
    The story mode is devastating, moving and grounded. The plot twists are incredibly well played and empowered by the incredible acting of the characters' mo-cap actors. Joel's death is the consequence of his actions. Because nobody is a 'good guy' in the universe of The last of us, as Tess reminded Joel in the first game before her death,-We're sh*tty people Joel-. Abby had the complicated burden of justifying her terrible actions throughout the game and she partially did. Naughty Dog make us live her human relationship with the characters we previously saw involved in a terrible action of revenge. But we never forget our true reasons and Ellie, the actual protagonist of the game is focused on her goal. She eventually understands that killing Abby won't bring back Joel and in a touching final scene she lets her enemy go, with the boy she previously saved. Abby lost everything she loved because of her lust for revenge and Ellie proves to be a better human being than her. She then realizes how her revenge obsession brought away the good things she had left, Dina and her son. JUST LIKE Abby.
    SOUNDTRACK: 9.5/10
    The soundtrack is easily on an upper level and Gustavo Santaolalla demonstrates his talent with tracks that can make your emotions already simulated by the cutscenes even more intense, even though I feel like the first game's track are slightly more inspired.
    IMPERFECTIONS SUMMARIZED:
    Nothing is perfect, and The last of us makes no exception. Some parts of the plot seem to be stretching the game a little bit, for example the still beautiful but slightly unnecessary gameplay sequence during the war between the WLF militia and the Seraphites cult. Some animations are still a bit rough, like the falling animation that can be revisited and there are some little graphic glitches, some textures disappearing when you're looking at them in certain spots, the fire effects and visuals seem a bit 'old', though this little problems don't ruin the experience. As I said, nothing is perfect, neither is The last of us part II, but let me state it goes pretty damn close to perfection.
    A must have, generation defining game. Incredible. 10/10    … Expand

El final que a muchos les ha parecido simple, o se mantienen inconformes, es por que de algun modo u otro nuestra protagonista mantiene un ultimo acto de piedad, lo que termina culminando con su venganza. Esto se ve reflejado en muchos de los flashbacks a lo largo del juego. Piedad. Los personajes no son flojos o vacios, puede que no tengan el mismo sistema etico que el anterior, pero eso es por que la historia es totalmente diferente. Los personajes se mantienen en su oscuridad y son lo sufinientemente realistas hasta el punto en el que pueden serlo, como dije antes, The Last of Us 1 no es la parte 2 son historias que mantienen una relacion, mas no son iguales. I really hoped that this would not be a banal continuation about Ellie and Joel, who go to some safe place and simultaneously strengthen their relationship again. And how glad I am that the sequel takes a completely different idea for the concept and more deepens me much more as a player in the game world than part 1 did. The second part has the concept of a cycle of revenge, which we will study immediately from two sides of the conflict. I really liked that the first half of the game, we go through revenge, and the second half of the path of redemption. The gameplay has become much deeper and more interesting, and the study of locations has become much more fun. The atmosphere has become much darker and no longer has a division into white and black, which can be seen in 1 part. The Last of Us Part II is the most beautiful game I have ever seen. I like that there are much more moments similar in atmosphere to Resident Evil. The gameplay in the hospital for Abby is definitely one of my favorite moments in the game. As in the first part, I am pleased that I was not given a choice at the end. I'm glad for Ellie that she was able to let go of her revenge and off cycle of pain. And I'm definitely happy for Leo and Abby, who, I hope, will find Fireflies and happiness.… Expand

But Naughty Dog delivers us a game experience more realistic and raw in every way possible. It is cruel, it is cold and it is brutal. If you are looking for something that will support some hate ideology (anti-gay, anti-women, etc) you can forget about this game, Naughty Dog didn't make this for you. About the gameplay: Naughty Dog introduced us to some new abilities and we can play more characters than its predecessor. But what makes this game perfect is also the atmosphere. You can feel and become Ellie. Also, this game makes you think about the story, about all the decisions and you realize no one is perfect in real life, why would everyone be perfect in video games?

    When Druckmann said that the game was going to be divisive he wasn't kidding but hey it's common to every great piece of art ! When people will stop to talk about what they don't know (how to write a story and how to use a medium to it's full potential to convey a story) maybe they'll start to enjoy the game.     l'histoire, c’était tellement mauvais que ça m'a presque donné le cancer.... j'ai pas capté ce qu'ils ont voulu nous faire passé comme message car l’écriture est tellement fade et inintéressante que je pense que même un gamin de 8ans aurait mieux fait.....

    bref ce n'est pas une total déception pour moi mais presque, le jeu reste bon dans l'ensemble.

Sadly the awkward pacing of this game's story due to flashbacks and character switches removes from the emersion which the previous factors tried so hard to achieve.

    I have completed this game as I wanted to give this thing a chance, so I remained open-minded about the character arc of Abby and pushed through the needless potholes that this game has to offer. Upon completion I can safely say I do not feel that this game pays off in any shape or form, the story seems utterly pointless and disconnected from the characters and world that we came to cherish within the first title. The actions and decisions of Ellie throughout this game lead to nothing and has left me confused about what the message of this game is. The ending could have been resolved by offering the play a multiple choice of either killing or sparing Abby; making for the 10 hours of Abby gameplay mean something.

    It is such as shame because this game will influence how I view Naughty Dog in regards to future titles, as I am sure it will be the case for many other gamers. This is a game that doesn't need to be played. This is a game that is not a must-have, unlike its predecessor, The Last of Us Part 1.    … Expand

    to the mechanics, the game it's self is quite challenging, game does a great job of starving you but giving you just enough to succeed. lots to collect, lots to explore, tons of upgrades to both character and equipment, expanded upon the first game in pretty much every way. melee combat dodge mechanic is quick and responsive, and often feels like an out right grudge match, in a good way!

    would have given 10 or of 10 if not for one gripe. they give you a lot of land to explore and navigate the problem is , YOU HAVE TO NAVIGATE IT. some of the most challenging and often frustrating parts of the game is getting where you want to go, with city streets being just chaotic, labyrinths of elevation, paths blocked , and destruction everywhere you turn, it's really hard to find your path. AND it doesn't let you be too creative about how you get from place to place. as there are a lot of invisible walls in places you would think you should be able to get through. and with just a big landscape, and no map. I often felt I didn't know where the hell I was going, and had to do a lot of backtracking to get there.

    overall this game was horribly depressing, sometimes tender, heavily brutal, incredibly complex, dangerously simple. and everything in between. left me feeling hope and no hope all at the same time. just fantastic.    … Expand

I really appreciated the level design and environment as well as the additional enemies and also how they made bloaters into a bigger, scarier threat by putting the encounters in small spaces and also upping the strength and destructive power they have. The game is gritty, brutal and you can tell a lot of passion and work was put into the game. I like the fact that they don't take the marvel route of keeping all the hero's alive (or giving them a way to come back) and they told the story they want and frankly what feels like a natural progression of the first games story. The inclusivity was well done and seemed real. They also did a great job with their accessibility options.

    Frankly I think it's better than the first. It stands in it's own and ups the ante. Also I think they handled Joel's murder very well. And by utilizing flashbacks to the time between the first game and this game, it did a was able to continue to have him in the story and also flesh him out as a character while also showing his importance to Ellie.    … Expand

I am extremely dissatisfied with jsw in this game and I hope that in future projects of developers there will no longer be obsessive propaganda of feminism and LGBT, which does not develop the main characters, in particular, Ellie. I am also extremely dissatisfied with the story arc for Abby, which destroys everything that we all love the first part for - the relationship of Joel and Ellie. But the second half of this game literally almost forgets about the relationship between Joel and Eli, and their place is trying to present us with the relationships of Ally and Dina, who are of little interest to the players. Yo me pasé el juego 6 veces y también en la mayor dificultad, por lo que sé qué sucede al revés y derecho, además de jugar también left behind. Y otra, 12 horas de ver gameplays no es todo el juego. Desde un inicio, inclusive desde antes que Ellie se uniera con Joel, se explicó que la sexualidad de Ellie era ser lesbiana, obviamente el personaje ya tiene 19 años necesita algo de feromonas y bueno, se nos regala Dina, que a mí parecer es un excelente personaje, Dina es bisexual, su ex es Jesse, las cosas no funcionan con él, pero desde ya hace tiempo ella sentía cosas por Ellie y sabía que Ellie sentía cosas por ella, ya que se explica en el diario que tiene Ellie durante todo el juego. La relación que se presenta entre ellas 2, es más que buena, no niego que el fumar un porro esté de más en una escena que terminará siendo sexual; sin embargo, buscan darle aires de adolescentes que quieren experimentar y esas cosas, hasta aparecen pipas y máscaras hechas para eso. Muchos hablan que el juego es puro loot y se les olvida, que es un juego de supervivencia, que necesitas recursos, en el 1, claro que looteabas, pero les molesta trabajar de más, porque los mapas son más grandes y hasta eso no tanto como los de mundo abierto, sólo son flojos. La villana NO ES TRANSGÉNERO, en las escenas se llega a apreciar su niñez y su cuerpo de Niña, simplemente es una mujer con un cuerpo demasiado desarrollado, que se preparó prácticamente toda su vida, para matar a la persona que mató a su padre, cuando éste buscaba una cura (que tengo mis sospechas que es otra cosa más allá), no sé de dónde saca la gente semejantes tonterías. Desde el 1, se sabe que el miedo de Ellie, era quedarse completamente sola y sabes qué? Así sucede. La muerte de Joel, tenía que pasar, muchos no quieren admitirlo porque son llorones y berrinchudos que no están acostumbrados a que sus personajes favoritos mueran y quieren que todo sea color rosa y las cosas terminen bien. Se tenía que dar protagonismo a Ellie, era obvio que Joel ahora, estaba de más, aunque él fuera el héroe del primer juego, ya estaba también mayor de edad, si el manejo del primero te decía que Joel era más robusto y pesado, qué pensarías ahora que pasaron otros años más? En cambio el manejo de Ellie es completamente diferente, puede esquivar, golpear, correr más, tirarse en la hierba, saltar, escalar por medio de cuerdas, etc etc. Entiendo que el manejo de Abby, sea del desagrado de muchos, de jugar con el personaje que mató a tu fav no? Pero si tú no jugaras con Abby, no sabrías qué pedo, por qué lo hizo. Abby no es del todo negro, así como Ellie tampoco es blanca. Todo son matices grises, el juego trata de que comprendas que Abby es mejor de lo que aparenta ser y quizá para algunos no les parezca, porque son menos empáticos. El propósito del juego es precisamente dar un mensaje que la venganza es un ciclo sin fin, hasta que cortas la cadena, desencadenas masacre y media para al final dejar ir a la persona que lo inició, perdonando que mató a quién era tu padre y rompiendo el ciclo, porque al final captas que como te dije, no todo era blanco o negro. Estan súper emperrados, porque los niños a la de ahuevo quieren su venganza y el juego no les transmitió ningún msj y sólo quieren que se haga lo que ellos quieren, para desquitarse de que le mataron a su personaje fav. Qué le enseñó Joel a Ellie? Joel le enseñó a disparar, a qué sobrevivierá y le enseñó egoísmo y que haría lo que fuera para proteger a sus seres queridos, quitándole la posible salvación de la humanidad para verla crecer. Todo es gris. Ellie hace masacre y media pero capta el msj final. Se muestra cómo Joel le ocultó la verdad a Ellie pero más después, si se la cuenta, eso deteriora su relación con ella pero al final se ve cómo ella lo perdona y le dice que entiende lo que hizo y que puede perdonarlo, porque Joel dice que si le darían a escoger lo mismo de nuevo, sería la misma elección. Obviamente el desmadre que hizo Ellie, es un arranque de ira que tuvo, porque le quitaron a alguien importante. El juego quiere transmitir humanismo y empatía, obviamente también hay mensajes para la gente intolerante que sólo busca argumentos del mismo tipo para atacar a un juego que es buenísimo, para los que son fans de la saga y han jugado lo que se tenía que jugar antes de, que entienden la historia y el mensaje, querían también que esa gente intolerante, cambiará o mínimo respetara y dejara de atacar cosas que para ello son antinaturales o cómo le dicen inclusivo a la fuerza.… Expand

    Yes. I got annoyed playing for long stretches as Abby and wanted to get back to playing as Ellie but, overall, it made sense.
    We learn what was behind Abby's motive for seeking vengeance against Joel. Her motives were just as valid as Ellie's were for hunting down Abby.
    The story telling was very good. The game play was us to Naughty Dogs standards. The graphics were gorgeous.
    I enjoyed some of the new mechanics of game play and wish they were featured more in the story.
    We still saw Joel during the flashbacks and they were bittersweet. For anyone who's lost a loved one they were extremely touching moments.
    I saw or heard some of the spoilers before the game was released so I was prepared for somethings but I've never let spoilers spoil a game for me. Sometimes they make me look forward to it even more.

Let’s start of with the thing that pissed me off the most, the death of Joel. Joel is extremely smart in the first game, he literally saw a “wounded” man walking towards him, and knew there was an ambush, but in the second, he saves Abby and goes with her, without knowing anything about her. That is not how Joel would act, it doesn’t fit his character in any way. Then we have Ellie, In the beginning she was amazing, but once you play the game, she goes for revenge, and once she gets the chance to honor Joel, the person who she loved the most, after losing everything (including the ability to play the guitar which was the only thing that reminded her of Joel), she decides that she went far enough, she doesn’t get any moment to shine in the whole game, and doesn’t even complete her goal. Then we have Abby, first with no backstory and only 20 minutes of playing with her, she kills Joel, and that was very poorly executed, because after killing Joel we have to play with her like for 15 hours, and all their attempts for us to get to empathize with her fail, because of her killing Joel, with no backstory at the time. This is not a good game, it kills many fan favorites, and doesn’t do them justice. They killed the highlight of the first game and my own personal favorite character (Joel), and then they made Ellie suffer more than she should. In my opinion they should just leave the game here, and don’t follow the story anymore.… Expand

Prefacing this with the fact that I absolutely adore the first game, I completed this one and I don't care at all for any of the LGBTQ controversy about the game, i fully support the LGBTQ community even though I am not a member. Furthermore, apart from one point it has nothing to actually do with the story, and even at that one point the nature of the conflict itself isn't the point, it just creates a conflict that is a vessel for the main story.

    The soundtrack is good but it's barely heard throughout. The graphics are blooming phenomenal. These are the only two positives for the game. The gameplay is better than the first but not by a large margin, and even seven years ago it wasn't a high-point. Furthermore, the gameplay doesn't build to a satisfying crescendo in any way, the fights and stealth are incredibly samey and it gets boring after a while. Never mind that a lot of the more "unique" fights come down to glorified QTE's that are also very samey.

    The gameplay is especially tedious when you're forced to play as a character you will likely despise for half of the game. Right after dropping a cliffhanger in a climactic confrontation in the story you will be transported back three days to re-do the time from another characters perspective. It wrecks the build up and pacing of the first half, which was just okay to begin with. Then, the disconnect between how you feel and how you're forced to act with this character takes you completely out of the game and makes getting through this half of the game a thoroughly unenjoyable slog. This is a horror game, it's hard to be horrified when you're rooting for the player character to die, there is no tension and there are no stakes. It's laughable how off-tone it is. This is half the game, and not just that it is subjectively the better half in terms of cool set piece and zombie battles, but it's bland, boring and frankly infuriatingly frustrating when played with this character.

    It isn't like the game doesn't attempt to make you relate to this character, it does, it just fails spectacularly. It tries to draw parallels with Ellie through inception-like flashbacks in flashbacks that mirror her growth and her experiences to make you feel that they've gone through a lot of the same stuff. Really though, it's just heavy handed and cheap, piggybacking off your relationship with Ellie to try and make a likeable character, or even a sympathetic character, because she's so similar, except she just completely isn't. They then give this character their own young child to look after just so it mirrors Ellie and Joels relationship, it's so contrived and plot convenient that this one person gets a relationship like that too. Another point, the actions of characters in the first one were believable, they acted how you expect them to given their character in any situation. In this one they act however they need to to advance the plot. The plot mostly being sadistic pornography for people who like suffering, because that seems to be the only thing they can depict well.

    I'm not really sure if there is a deeper message to the game because the only ones I can see aren't particularly deep or thought provoking. Revenge begets revenge, the people around you also face the consequences of your actions, the world is an unforgiving place, other people are people too so you should try to understand them. None of these are great messages, for the first two bad people get away with doing bad things all around the world all the time even today, they especially do in an apocalypse, hell literally THE BAD GUY in this game does. The second is so obvious it's not worth arguing. If one needs to be told the last they might actually be a psychopath, but this game takes it too far in trying to forgive literal torture and brutal murder.

    If there isn't a point and it's all just about showing bleak reality then F me is it a terrible thing to do, and it's even way over the top for an apocalypse. You, among other things, are forced to kill dogs, watch beloved characters get maimed or killed indiscriminately, kill named characters repeatedly because they attack you and are then made to feel bad about it later, kill a late stage pregnant woman (She literally watches you fight and kill a bigger, stronger male whose job it is to murder things, then attacks you while like eight months pregnant. It's unbelievably grotesque and stupid, especially when it again adds nothing to the plot other than to cheaply make Ellie look evil). Also that pregnant lady goes out on patrol, gets in gunfights, climbs and ropes and ninjas about. it's insane that anyone thought this was believable.

    The game spits on the corpse of the first, having you strangle Ellie as the other character and also literally spitting on Joels mutilated corpse right at the start, because despite marketing materials, Joel dies at the start. The trailers lie. There are many more issues, watch playthroughs. Worse than GoT Season 8.    … Expand

    The gameplay is solid but not innovative in any way. The sound design and graphics are incredible and set a new high water mark for the industry. The story, while an interesting idea, is executed very poorly. Unlikable characters, and bad pacing kill the motivation to stay with the story through multiple flashbacks and time line jumps. The last 4 hours of the game shouldn't even exist.

    I love it, and I'm still processing all my emotions over it. But yeah the game, the ending it's beautiful, powerful, and very HUMAN. The entire story is wrapped around the concepts of cause and effect/confronting the consequences for your actions. Not everyone is going to agree with it, not everyone is going to like it, but frankly that's their choice. And I'm happy it exists.

    Not sure why people are hating on this one so much. It’s a story full of complex characters that certainly makes you feel the impact of everything you did in the first game and in this one. Excellent graphics, gameplay, and performances make this my top game of 2020 for sure.

    This game is amazing,I dont understand why people hate it. We already KNEW this story would be depressed af and with themes like violence and lgbt stuff...so why before it was released that was okay and now not?

    I would have liked to see a different direction, but that's cause we have built an intense bond with the character's. Its the point of the game, a post apocalyptic tragedy. So, in short, yes they are wrong. Dead wrong. The story is engaging, intense, gut wrenching among so many things. How anyone can say its a bad game blows my mind.

    Also, cant wait to see what they do with Factions. .

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game play itself was fine and there isn't much else I could think to make it groundbreaking since they added jumping and such into it. Technologically speaking, this game is a masterpiece and creates a lot of immersion with the graphics alone and its cool to see all the characters I grew up to love in such clear quality. I personally am all for the LGBTQ+ progressiveness in the game but I understand why people are saying there is an agenda being pushed and that this game is too political, the way I feel they see it is that all of the male leads were either killed or crippled and especially some we grew to love were killed in ways that were disrespectful to the character themselves or just didn't make sense for the character to even be in the situation in the first place. Also, reviewers are pointing out that people hate the game for that reason and because Ellie is lesbian but we already knew that from the Left Behind DLC as they explored her relationship with Riley. The story is the most important part of the game though and all the amazing graphics and such mean nothing to me if the story is just not good which happened to be the case here. The story proceeds to villianize Ellie through making here hell bent on getting revenge on Abby for killing Joel, while making Abby seem like the good guy by saving kids and playing with dogs E.T.C. and we are practically forced to sympathize with Abby and even maim her as we play Abby which is just uncomfortable to do since most people playing (include myself) hate Abby because of her introduction getting us off on the wrong foot. I understand that the story is supposed to be dark and I'm not angry that Joel is dead (I went into the game expecting it since he would be fairly old now), but his personality was different from the first game since was extremely Untrusting of people. During the into of the first game he even leaves a family with a child on the street when given the chance to save them, while Sara was alive and right when the outbreak started (Just so no one can blame it on her death and Jackson softening him up), but now he's giving his name to a group of 8 people he's never met (all with guns), enclosed in a locked room while they are all giving him stink eye. He is a completely different person making rookie mistakes that don't make sense for a character as seasoned in the apocalypse as him. The stories theme contradicts itself by trying to make Ellie consumed by revenge when Abby was just as consumed with revenge herself, yet the game wants us to hate Ellie and love Abby. The quote used with this game is "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves." but honestly, you only need one at the end of the game because Ellie has lost absolutely everything for absolutely no reason since she doesn't even end up killing Abby for some flawed 2 second change in motivation. While Abby ends up walking away with Lev, implying that they have a relationship similar to the one of Joel and Ellie in the first game, which we know was something to look forward to. The message I perceive from the story is if you embark on a journey of revenge, just commit to it since Abby walked away with a lot more than Ellie did despite embarking on her on revenge story. Just wanted to get my frustrations out of the way since I loved the first game (and the DLC for it) a lot but was so disappointed to wait 7 years to see all of my favorite characters ruined so hopelessly and for no reason other than "Shock Value".… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
