    One of the greatest games of all time, that’s for sure. Despite the story hating, I should say game’s story is very deep dived into the grey morality, and it’s implementation is great, Naughty Dog made a good job. Gameplay, audio and visual environment is absolutely persistent, nobody can’t deny this. I’ve done it more than a week ago and now I’m going to get all the trophies in 2One of the greatest games of all time, that’s for sure.     Perfect storytelling and character development. If you genuinely didn't like it, it means you're too emotionally weak and not mature enough to live a deep story like this. Stop writing how the story is trash, because it's not and you're just an idiot

The graphics are great aswell as the attention to detail, gameplay is nice because it innovates from the first but doesn’t stray to far from the original but I think the story was disappointing. If you started with Abby’s sections and Ellie and Joel flashbacks the game could of been better then but I couldn’t sympathise with Abby because it’s depicts her as the villain but then ten switches her to the victim it doesn’t move me. I’m fine with Ellie and Dina being lesbians and Lev being exiled actually fells like that would happen with a cult but it just doesn’t make me feel like I should care for some deaths like Jesse, Owen or anyone else because there isn’t enough time with them to fully develop with me.… Expand

    I never go out of my way to rate things like this, but I felt like the baseless vitriol surrounding this game needed a bit of a counterbalance. This game is objectively excellent on nearly every front. Stop acting like children or you'll discourage this type of world-class storytelling in AAA games and we'll be stuck with endless Fortnites.

    The point of the game is pretty clear and well represented , this game is about hate and revenge and what this can carry to yourself and others,
    that this acts should bring you nothing but bad things.
    But of course you prefer to judge or cry because something happen and you don't like it, it's fine if you don't, but
    let other people enjoy it if the want to.
    One last thought if you have a problem with what people like, first that sad, you should really talk to someone about it, and

    Words can't describe how good this game was. Just play it through from start to finish, and then make your judgement about it. The game takes its time to craft its massive story, and it will be rewarding if you let it.

Like "The Last of us", "The Last of us - Part II" is an unparalleled audiovisual experience, I missed the wonderfully melancholic music of the first part here, but the game is graphically and atmospherically a feast for the eyes. While you strolled through the melancholic post-apocalypse of North America from time to time in decelerated moments in the first game, you are literally overwhelmed by the thoroughly depressing atmosphere, soaked with sadness, anger and despair. The cold and dreary bluish cast, as well as the seeded colors always convey a feeling of threat, discomfort and despair. The graphics offer a cinematic experience in cutscenes and create an incredible level of realism in the game, especially in combination with the excellent motion capturing and the acting. The game sometimes offers certain moments when there is an epic visually that is not only unusual for both games, but is generally comparable to nothing that I have seen in the medium so far. Images that completely say goodbye to the melancholy in part 1 and drift off into the realm of the doomsday scene. The gameplay is basically the same as in the predecessor, of course has been expanded a bit, but is just as in part 1 excellent, exciting, stressful, clever survival action. Conclusion on the technical side: Just like part 1, this game will inspire us even in 10 years. General conclusion: "The Last of us Part II" is an unquestionable masterpiece at every level, on which one can evaluate a game. The successor shows once again the greatest strength of the series, the story-telling, while the story in part 1 was quite simple, which was offset by the excellent story-telling, the story could not be more complex, complex and emotional. We are always offered exciting gameplay, supported by overwhelming graphics, great sound, etc. Of course, the story provides material for discussion, but it will be continued consistently and logically with regard to the end of part 1.     so many plot holes and dumb decision made by characters especially at the start of the game, i can not believe what i've watched, near the end i was not emotional at all because game's story became so **** i was laughing instead

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. From a writing standpoint, the first game was a quality movie, and this game with all the exposition and tell don't show -mentality, is an okay tv-series.

    Naughty Dog doesn't know how to make a bad game if you just look at the graphics and the mechanics, although not everything is perfect in the combat/stealth/puzzle and whatnot sections. Still very enjoyable though! The problem is the story. Deep flaws in logic, things without explanation, and the worst thing of all, watering down the characters and changing them profoundly, again, without the logic.

    One flashback scene with Joel and Ellie tops all other parts in this game. And really it isn't even a surprise. One quality scene vs lackluster tv-writing and directing... Is this the new standard?

    I don't remember Nate getting his head bashed in after killing thousands of people in Uncharted games. Although now that i think about it... i haven't played the Lost Legacy!

    My advice to gaming studios as a random player without absolutely no authority and experience in making a game: quit while you're ahead, and make other games.

The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is pretty good. The characters are butchered to make gullible players hate them. And the story is just a straight up 0/10. If you have never played Tlou1 then this game should be pretty good for you, if you played Tlou1 then this game is more of a spinoff than a sequel. What should have been the easiest sequel in the history of gaming, became as disappointing as star wars and game of thrones. The last of us is Ellie and Joel. The bond made the game. Not to mention Naughty Dog flat out lied to everyone and false advertised the game to make it seem like a Joel and Ellie game which was not the case. Definitely would recommend the game to anyone who doesn't care about story and what not.… Expand

    I will be brief. During the passage of the sequel, I have a difficult feeling, and I will play the Game Tycoon product, when the developer will have many game points, and the rest of the game for the gameplay and quests would not have enough points.

    I want to point my middle finger deeply to ND, for delivering a game which destroyed one of the most loved and shared stories of the entire gaming industry.

    Whenever I thought about Last of Us, what came to my mind was a beautiful delivered story about a man and a girl, who let me be part of their amazing story.

    Ellie made Joel find a reason to love his life again, he found a reason to be alive, to live and find love .
    This is what part 1 delivered.
    What did part 2 deliver?

    Revenge, lots of revenge, and in the end they throw it away and tell you it's a part of "growing". That revenge brings nothing.

    One guy tries to kill an innocent girl, he decides about life and death, and then another guy decides about this guys life and death. After that the daughters from both of them do the same again but in the end they decide to let it go, because they won't get their fathers back. And that route took us 35 hours of redundant fights against zombies, wolfs and scars, over and over.

The positives are obvious, the game looks good and has nice animations. I want to focus on the story of the game (the main appeal imo). It is terrible... Especially once you hit the character switch for "narrative purposes" you will be met with fluff that I think is plain and dumb.

    Lastly, Why are these factions in the game other than to be an obstacle to be killed? They feel like fodder because they are. What a shame. If i could get a refund, I would. Better off playing the first game again and purge this mess of a story.    … Expand

It might not be something that everybody hopes for but I think it has done what it has set out to do. It created an emotional story that emphasized seeing things from different perspectives, giving more dimensions to the characters. I have seen sequels that played it safe by forcing out unnatural or predictable plots just to expand the franchise, but Naughty Dog chose a path that not many dares to venture, a convincing and natural development of a story even though it's a risky one. Arguably there are many potential ideas for a sequel, but I doubt most of them will leave such an impression like the current sequel did. Still love the original main characters, it hurts to see one of them go, but I think it's well thought out and the ending didn't disappoint me personally.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Controversial. This is qhat Neil Druckmann wanted to do, a controversial game. The game isn't perfect, but still my favourite game. I'll explain you why.

    The Last of Us is a series known to be something like a "interactive movie", this is why I am not going to review the gameplay itself, only the story (The gameplay was pretty decent though, basically the same as the first game).

    Like in every movie with CGI we talk about how good it looks, and my god, the game looks awesome. They use every bit of the Playstation 4. The music is a absolute 10/10 for me. The people who loved the music from the first game are gonna love this. While I am writing this review I am listening to the soundtrack, it is f*ing awesome.

    Now about the big thing: the story. There's a lot to say. What I hear from people who don't like the game is that it's not the fact that Joel dies - it's the way he dies. Well I see it like this: They went for realism (I mean in the story itself and not the gameplay) and so with the death's of character's. Like Jesse and the other guy who always says "pendejo" or something (forgot the name right now), they both died without any warning and no music building up. It was a total surprise, like for the charakters seeing this, in this case Ellie and Abby. They make no exceptions, not even for Joel. In my eyes this is something new and it's really good. And I mean it's not like that Joel got honored in the rest of the game (irony). The also hasn't a "up's and down's" story. It's mostly only downs. It's really sad. For Ellie and Abby. The idea from Naughty Dog showing the prespective from the protagonist and antagonist is awesome. It destroys the line from good and bad. Normally in movies and videogames there is a thing (forgot name) where you can see how to do the pacing. For example movies start slowly in the beginning, then something semi-big happens, then character developement, and then the big finally. Something similar exists for games. In the first game they did it very well but in this game it was complicated because they hace 2 characters to explain. It is 2 stories in one big story. This is why it was complicated to do the pacing right. And I agree, the pacing isn't perfect. Not even close. But I love the idea behind it and I'd love to see more games using this idea of showing both characters in such detail. But what I would have changed is that they replaced the Abby-story to the end. So that you play the exact same game twice but with different characters. That means you can replay Ellie with New game+ without the passages with Abby somewhere in the middle. The Idea that was used in Resident Evil 2 remake would also fit, where you can choose who you whant to play, but have to play both anyway to understand the story in the end. But this is only my idea. Many people don't like the ending of the game. I totally understand why. Ellie left her family with Dina and her son to kill Abby and in the end she doesn't do it. But think about it. First, Ellie wanted to do it in first place. But during the fight she changed her mind. Why? Because she realises that everyone has a backstory and Abby got already revenge. She got tortured for months there. I think this was even worse for her than just simply die. I always hear: "But she killed Joel". Yes, she did. But I think we all forgot that Ellie killed almost all of her friends, even her ex-boyfriend and her pregnant friend. The ending was really sad when Dina left Ellie. But I think she just left because Dina thought that Ellie was dead and didn't want to raise a child alone in the apocalypse and went back to Jackson.

    I am really excited for the Multoplayer mode and would welcome a DLC or even a part 3. I loved the contuitation of the lie from Joel from the first part. The flackbacks were great. Graphics and animation were awesome. Idea was great. Music was fitting perfectly. These are the reason why it is my favourite game and a 10/10 so far.

    This game is understandably controversial and divisive, but personally i really enjoyed it. i think the game tells an excellent story about cycles of violence, revenge and in the end forgiveness. This game made med question my own personal bias, and my own belief system as well as being completely immersed and engrossed in this beautiful and horrific world Naughty Dog has created.     The large open-world type areas didn't work in a game where desperately scavenging for parts is key. I felt like I was metal detecting. Meticulously combing areas, missing out on the spectacle of the environments - or even forgetting what I'm doing or where I'm going.     I didn't recognise the characters. Joel was a essentially a paternalised (new word) NPC and Ellie was an angry adult devoid of her usual wit and vulnerability.

    So while I have no regrets buying it, at the end of game, I felt almost no emotions. No goosebumps. The game ended. I felt depressed and sad it didn't live up to anything I hoped.

    The lack of multiplayer and trophy challenge of harder difficulties means I won't be playing it agin for a very long time.    … Expand

This one drives you where you don't expect. It is a mirror game, there is no villain, you will play in both camps and sometimes you may think that Ellie has become the bad one. There is a little less emotion than in the first game, but the story is more complicated, rich and subtle. And gameplay is the same but sophisticated. You cross so many locations, the game is very creative to renew what you already played. And of course it's the most beautiful game of this gen.… Expand

    One of the best games ever made in the history of gaming. The storyline couldn't have been carried forward given the ending of the previous game. Though Naughty Dog took a big risk with the storyline but it was worth it.

Same old.. get cornered by a group of mercenaries, hide or kill them, heal, run away and repeat. its all the same. VERY PREDICTABLE AND BORING! Whenever i start playing a new game that i really want to enjoy i hope that i don't finish it too soon. This game wants me to get through it as quick as possible and then delete it off my system. I also don't see how killing a fan favorite character is bad if it serves to push the story forward. I feel like most of the people leaving bad reviews wanted this fantasy version of the game where nothing Joel and Ellie did had any consequences and they're just these perfect goodie two-shoes characters. Anyone who can't understand why Joel had to die really was not paying attention when playing the first game.… Expand

    The emotional roller coaster this game put me through deserved a 10. There were a few parts that didnt need to be playable or should be playable and were cutscene but overall the mechanics were great, the dialogue was phenomenal, and the level design got me anxious almost all the time. The combat is very intense.

    It breaks my heart to write this, but I really did not expect such a poor story after all these years of waiting. While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wrack my brains trying to figure out how such a story-driven game powerhouse like NaughtyDog missed the mark so hard you'd think they held the gun backwards. So here's my drop in the bucket review.

    •Pros: The game looks fantastic. Water reflections and physics show what the PS4 can truly do compared to even respectably built gaming PCs. The sound design is crisp, audio occlusion is realistic, and the voice acting is pretty good. Really conveys the emotions the characters are feeling at that moment. The melee combat has more crunch to it. Each blow is really felt, in the way the camera moves, the motions of the attacker and recipient, and the dodge mechanic makes it more than just a 'Mash square til they commit aliven't' simulator. Gunplay is solid, though the default sensitivity is a little higher than the previous entry's, but you can fix that simply in the controls menu. Crafting and upgrades are still here, and they arguably feel a lot better to do. Personal upgrades go beyond 'reload faster' and 'at least pretend you have forearm muscles' due to the sway. There's a couple of flashbacks that show small snippets of the previous game, and they have updated graphics as well. Particularly the scene where Joel lies to Ellie right at the end, there's so much more emotion and weight to even just her eyes. There's an enormously varied Accessibility section in the options that range from auto-aim for motor handicapped people to replacing every event in the game with a different sound cue paired with text-to-speech so the game can be played by actual blind people. The difficulty can be cut into smaller chunks of personalized merit; you can either choose a flat difficulty that makes every aspect the same as the difficulty you chose, or you can choose to make your character extremely squishy but the enemies as well so no one becomes a bullet sponge, not even yourself. Atop that, the ability to change how much your allies help you in battle, how aggressively the enemies attack you, and even the amount of supplies that will spawn in the game. The game can be as easy or as difficult as YOU want. Also, you can pet the dog.

    •Cons: The story itself is oblique, and quite possibly delivered in the wrong order. It's a confusing mish-mash of revenge that seems to try and teach us that revenge isn't worth getting... when the antagonist gets their happy ending in the first 2 hours of the game, and Ellie is left at the end with... nothing. Lost her girl, lost her friends, lost her fingers... She can't even play the guitar, her version of Joel's watch. Where his reminded him of his daughter, Ellie remembers Joel through the guitar. The AI, all-in-all for a modern release is quite sub-par. If you watch AI In Gaming on YouTube you'll understand how the AI in TLOU1 worked, and 2's really sees no improvement. Enemies completely ignore your allies while you are in stealth, they have a vision cone that consists of about 35° in front of them that ends after 15 feet like they're all geriatric with cataracts thicker than their thumb. They still blatantly say out loud every thought they have, I'm surprised one of them didn't talk about what they had for breakfast to themselves while they walk on the other side of your chest-high-cover. They added dogs that more or less act like the Cosmic Clones from Super Mario Galaxy where they trail about 5 seconds behind you when they 'get your scent', so you gotta keep moving you can't really filter them all through the same door... as easily, anyway. No significant changes to enemies or enemy types, be they infected or human. On top of all of that, the cast of characters you regularly see throughout the story are all completely unlikable two-dimensional reflections of a single personality point and nothing more. Chaste, or brash. Sarcastic or serious. It's like the developers were afraid we might have to think a little too much to understand a person's motives so they just made them walk around with a sandwich board that says 'Hello, I am {Insert emotion here}.' Another thing that's more weird than anything is Neil Druckmann's self-inclusion in the game. It's not the first time a game has used an employee's likeness, this started even as far back as Perfect Dark for the N64, where a lot of the faces were developers at the studio. No, the thing that makes his point-for-point everything-but-name inclusion is that he seems to exist solely to tell the antag-protagonist to do the bad things she wants to push the story... and to bone her in a sex scene. Straight up just bareback porking her. 'Ellie is a lesbian' seems kind of phoned in, as well. We knew from Left Behind that she was definitely into girls, and she seemed rather unhappy at seeing Bill's dirty magazine of naked men. It doesn't push LGBT at all in an impactful way, either. It just seems to be pandering to me. No serious issues like facing hardships brought about by their sexuality, just a mention in an early cutscene, no more.    … Expand

    I have seen Ellie from child to teenage and then to adult.I really want to see HOW ELLIE'S LIFE CONTINUE .WHAT THINGS WILL HAPPEN IN ELLIE'S LIFE AFTER THE ENDING OF "The last of Us 2" in "The last of us 3" and of course i really hope and want Ellie will be the MAIN CHARACTER in "The last of Us 3" .I love this story this game and Ellie so much.

    A game ahead of time. One of my most vivid gaming experiences in the last 10 years! The highest level of storytelling. The whole game is perceived as a good action-packed series with a story that not only entertains, but allows you to look at familiar things from different angles, teaches empathy, teaches you to value loved ones. It will be difficult to surpass such a level.

    Beautiful photorealistic graphics. An all-consuming gameplay that makes you sweat while clutching a gamepad.

    From a technical perspective, the game is fine, but the story is really bad and insulting to all that are invested in the characters from the first game. One gets a sense that the writer is trying to be clever, mistaking shock value for genuine emotional responses. A failure from start to finish

    I think the game was realistic. Tlou world is not "and they lived happily ever after" story, and thats why i like it. Part 2, if you ask me did perfect job delivering what the game makers wanted. Emotional rollercoaster, great characters with amazing graphics and also breath taking game mechanics. For me me it was 10/10. Big fan, cant wait for part 3.

    Been playing games since the NES days and this is one of the best games.
    Excellent story telling and visuals. Loved all the new characters introduced. I did have to put it down a few times since it’s pretty heavy on the “omg that was horrible” moments. That ending… damn. Magnificent.

    Questo gioco è semplicemente perfetto. I personaggi sono fatti talmente bene da sembrare veri, il gameplay è divertente e con animazioni ben riuscite (che è un piacere guardare), l'ambientazione è iper dettagliata ed è facilissimo rimanere imbambolati a fissare dettagli meravigliosi. La storia è devastante nel senso positivo del termine. Capolavoro.

I went into the last of us 2 without seeing anything leaked. I enjoyed the begining of the game and up to the conflict of Abby killing Joel. I didn't mind Joel dying specifically but the problem is playing as the person who brutally killed that person is a bit hard for me to get over. I will be honest I turned my game off and haven't played anymore so I will do my best with a number that fits with what I've now watched and played. The game looks beautiful and the music is nice but the story at least up to the character switch is okay. After that I had to watch someone play because I couldn't. I would give this game a 5.5 but I'll round up for the sake of fairness.… Expand

But I don't reccomend this game if you are a fan of the first one because this have have a horrible story and horrible pacing, the gameplay is a 10/10 just how the first one was. But if you are here for the same as we all fans are the storyline please make yourself a favor and don't play this game it would hurt you they kill Joel in a horrible way and in a horrible situation plus the game is about you killing the person who killed Joel byt ellie at the end of the game choose yo let her go because who know why is a horrible and disrespectful game and for me is a 3/10 because this a story centric game and if everything is good except for the story so is a 3/10… Expand
