I heard a quote earlier that really stuck with me:

The Last of Us Part 2 relies on shock and surprise rather than suspense and substance. What a pity. This game had the potential to reset the standard of modern videogames. Naughty Dog, honestly, you guys had something so unique with these unbelievably complex and likeable characters. And you threw it all away for coincidence and cheap

You can't take a nice game and turn it into your desire pot to drop all your sht about social problems. You play games to forget social problems. The game has a nice development, it's precious, but you don't read a book just because it's maked of gold, you read a book for what it contents. I only can qualify whit 2, because I'm so disappointed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a fantastic game. Well written with tons of character development (unlike what most people say). Character development comes in different forms, while Abby is a completely new character to the series, there is an arch with rich background. Ellie already has her background established so you have to provide her with a challenge which is losing Joel. Going from wanting to revenged to understanding of what Abby did is an arch of its own while throwing in a relationship building aspect with Dina which has its ups and downs like a normal relationship. The fact that a game can bring so many people great emotion (Love or hate) is fantastic that needs to be recognized. Another point I commonly see is that it “doesn’t stick to the Part 1 theme/style”. This brings up the Star Wars Force Awakens problem. If Naughty Dog did the same thing but slightly different, everyone would also hate it for not being a different game. Naughty Dog did well with this game. Good job building off of perfection with perfection. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a masterpiece and the leak destroyed it.

I don't want to go into too much detail about the graphics, the world or the stunning level of detail, because literally every area, every shot, every plant in post - apocalyptic Seattle feels unreal. This game is something else. I bet in at least a year on from now people will upload Yt - vids like: TLOU2 , better than you think" or something like that.

It is the leak that ruined the *hype* around this game, but not the game per se. At this point, I would like to mention, that a lot of the spoilers and rumors I heard prior to the release were straigth up fake.

To 100% confirm this: Ellie doesn't die, Abby is not transsexual, you do play as the killer of Joel in this game but the way this sentence is formed is simply flawed. When I heard about playing as Abby, I thought that the player has to kill of Joel, which, surprise surprise, is simply not the case. The story is absolutely beautiful, brutal when it needs to be and the epitome of bittersweet. There is not one other game I can think of, that made me feel the way i felt during the credits. Mesmerizing.

My main problem are the people that simply won't play the game because of the leak, or who hate it, but for the wrong reasons.

I've seen more than enough "Joel died, so I won't play this game" - arguments prior and after the release. Well ok, Joel was definitely a great character, but his death is ... natural in a *post - apocalyptic* world. Whenever I hear something like that, I like ot think of the prequel. Who was the villain in TLOU1? Was is Tess, Bill, Sam, Joel, the fireflies? No, there was no villain, just like there was no true "hero".

In addition to Joel's death, there are a lot of people upset of Ellie not killing Abby in their last showdown. But again, why should she? Because she travelled aaaall the way to California to kill her? Remember in the first game, where Ellie and Joel travel across the entire continent, just to get to the fireflies and Joel NOT wanting to sacrifice Ellie for a cure, which was his original mission after all?

"Abby is buff, I do not like it". Again, post - apocalyptic world, where you fight for your survival + living in a military - esque group with a ton of resources + wanting to take revenge so much so, that you sacrifice an idyllic life with the love of your life makes your pretty buff I guess.

"Ellie should have killed her, because she definitely could not let go of Joel" - I think it is pretty evident, that Joel wanted only the best for Ellie, there is no room for arguments here. But this also includes letting go. Do you think Joel would be happy with his life, if he had never let go of Sarah? No. The same thing goes for Ellie and Abby.

"The message of this game is way to obvious, revenge is bad". Is it though? I did not get this impression (actually, I did, but I would not consider this the main message). For me, TLOU2 was about growth. Sometimes, this growth manifests itself in emotional maturity (letting go), sometimes in physical improvements ("the buff lady scares me"). Revenge definitely plays a major part in the game, but it is not the only message this game tries to convey, by far not the only one. With the hatred that both of them experience, they become way to hardheaded, only focused on their plans and motifs, while ignoring the people around them. (Kinda like those people who did not actually play this game, but still write reviews because they heard it sucks).

"Playing as Abby is dumb" - It is pretty clear, that they are both sides of one and the same coin, so why not try to embrace her story aswell? She lost her father, the love of her life, a partner, a pregrant friend and also a dog. She has every right to feel the way she feels and her wanting to kill Joel is not "stupid", it is what the first game taught us, quite literally: You kill in order to preserve what you love.

If you did not like the game, that is absolutely fine. But to trash it with garbage arguments is simply wrong. It is very polarizing, ND definitely created SOMETHING here. But this something is the best thing I have experienced in a looong time from an industry that is notorious for in - game purchases while still demanind 60 to 70 bucks for the "whole" game, pumping out sequel after sequel of the same, god damn game every **** year, and relatively poor story writing (i.e. everything is black and white) for the majority of games.

TLOU2 is a breath of fresh air, that demands YOU to think a little bit about your actions and consequences, while still delivering a solid combat and stealth system, a more than brilliant performance from the actors (especially Ashley Jenkins, who portrayed Ellie so amazingly) and a game that makes you FEEL something.

This game is definitely game of the PS4 - generation.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.
Разработчики вообще думали что The Last of Us ждёт провал.
The Last of Us

Music is amazing just like the first entry, and also as it is to be expected has some pretty amazing visuals.

Now on to what everyone complaints about... The story.
Most people complaining have either not played the game and had a part of the story spoiled or have played the game and not finish it..

This game will not tell the story you want it to tell, that is true, but that is also true for life itself. The game does a wonderful job with narrative, deep and complex emotions, amazing support characters and relationships, dichotomy and duality, and twists and surprises that ultimately reflect human behaviour.

This game goes to show that this is not a fantasy world where everyone is happy, **** happens and how you deal with that and the journey you go through. Also, in case people did not understand it after playing part 1, you are not playing a hero, you are not playing as the good guy, you never have in TLOU.

    Summary
Naughty dog continued its trajectory of great story telling and amazing characters all within the world that we all love although this experience may not feel much of a "zombie game", with the great little touches to the gameplay and music makes this the best work Naughty dog has brought to the industry in as an art form

    This game lacks of SOUL.
All the characters, even Ellie, are empty. You don’t feel bad for any of them. It seems like the Ellie of Pt1 is not the same person in the Pt2. Even Alice the dog had more soul than any of them. You’re getting to a point where a character’s death is worthless.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

A game that fundamentally fails in execution, The Last of Us 2 never learned what made the first game so great. With uninteresting characters, a boring plot, and ham-fisted writing, the game becomes a chore to get through. After the credits rolled I felt like I was looking at a Magnificent and Beautiful picture puzzle but the pieces of the puzzle were all in the wrong order.
On Numerous occasions I could see what True Beauty the picture puzzle holds but the pieces are all haphazardly just mashed together that this Possibly Masterpiece of a Picture which would probably reach into your soul and leave a mark never manages to do so.

This is a clear example of why Pacing and Editing plays such an important role in media which is something widely understood with Movies and TV shows and in games as well for that matter but pacing and editing was thrown away for a self indulgent pat on the back.
This is probably the worst paced game I have every played along with being one of the worst Editing in Story and Screenplay I have experienced.
The most heartbreaking aspect is everything was there for another Soulful Experience; all the effort, all the passion, all the good story that the whole of Naughty Dog worked so hard on but Story Execution is in the worst possible order that it really damages the overall experience.

This game is an imperfect gem in the rough that would have been a beautiful Jewel in Naughty Dog's amazing legacy but sadly the decision and cost of being shocking and subversive never allows it to reach the level of adoration it deserves.

The game's plot is heavily based on empathy towards the second playable character, if you do not resonate with the character and feel empathy towards her, the entire plot falls apart. Unfortunately, I didn't connect with Abby, no matter how many dogs she pet and kids she rescues, she did torture a person whilst their adopted daughter begged her to stop. No remorse, for somewhat deserved comeuppance yet pointless torture - which put this character beyond redemption until a moment she actually reflects on that, never happened, so I never connected with her. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Lazy writing. The best thing about the first game was the dynamic between Ellie and Joel as he rediscovered himself as a father. Killing off Joel at the beginning was a terrible decision. I expected him to die at some point in this game but the way he died at the very beginning seemed pointless and unfulfilling. We waited seven years for this game and have been waiting to see Joel again and we only get live 5 minutes of gameplay with him before he died. THE TRAILER WAS A LIE. It showed Joel going on this adventure with Ellie but in the game Jesse filled that spot. Then you have us play as Abby for 40% of the game and fight Ellie as this person fans hated.(Abby is the one that killed Joel btw) and you try to make us sympathize with this person but her part of the game just felt really dragged out. There was nothing fulfilling about this game or it's story. Really dropped the ball on this one. Expand

The graphics are the highlight. The game is dark for the sake of being dark and has nothing important to say. The first game was a masterpiece. I believe they fired or suppressed any real talent this team had for the first game and that is a shame.

They will point to sales and claim a success but you won't get people back for a third trip after this. Any sequel was going to sell well after the first was such stellar piece of storytelling.

This is a uninspired sequel that looked to cash in. It didn't have anything new to tell us or to show us and it forgot that it was the incredible bond of Joel and Ellie that endeared so many to the story....and then it punished you for caring in the first place.

We praise plenty of games that are entirely based around their art, even with shallow gameplay. Next, take the gameplay. I don't think anyone can argue that LOU2 gameplay isn't at least as good as the first game. And I think it's excellent. When a reviewer says they got bored finding supplies and ammo around the world or call the game easy due to problems with AI, I feel like they decided to play on a difficulty below their ability, and when someone plays as many games as they do, it tends to create skill. As a gamer with average skills, I've been challenged in a fair and meaningful way with the multitude of combat and crafting options. With those features alone, it seems like the game should be at least a 7 or 8. As for the characters and story, even if it seems like nonsense and has unexplained character actions, there are plenty of movies and games that ask us to suspend disbelief and "play along." I don't necessarily dislike all media that had stretches of logic. For Joel to be killed in the manner he was, it certainly provided a motive for revenge, but I'm wondering why players can't be flexible, even watching a tragic character death. Fine art should produce some kind of emotions and even take controvercial risks. I would rather have a game industry run by passionate risk takers than year-after-year Call of Duty factories. Expand

You can't help but think the creators wanted to force every agenda in the past decade into a game. You betcha they would of loved to have included the BLM movement in there somehow.

Tragic story telling (not even a 1 out of 10 compared to the original) killing the main (and most likeable) character in such a bizarre fashion so early on and replacing him and all the other great characters from the original with these unlikable bores is just tragic. It was a shock. When Joel got killed I was left staring at my screen, controller on the floor. Halfway through the game I get to play as Abby(the killer). I didn't like the idea. I didn't wanna play as her.
10 hours later, seeing the world of the game through her eyes, I was surprised that not only she grew on me, but I got to root for her! That's a story we'll made for me. I get it that's not for everyone. I get that some fans will hate it. But yes, you are allowed to not like the story of the game! And trust me I am a fan of the first one, and the Left Behind DLC. I loved Joel. I loved his relationship with Ellie. It did brought tears to my eyes. During the first game, during Joel's murder and during the flashbacks. I don't know if I can forgive Abby. But I'm willing to try.
Story wise aside(which I personally loved), the gameplay is awesome. It's an improvement of the first game. I don't get all the negative reviews calling it **** gameplay wise, because its like TLOU but better. And no matter howuch I love the first one, I'm not sure that another road trip with Ellie and Joel is what the series needed. That story was told. That story made us cry and get attached to characters. And now it s time for a new story. That(personally made me cry again and get attached to new characters), might not be for anyone I get that but oh well. That's my 2p.For those who hate the game, fair play. For those who loved it, I get you! For those who haven't played it, give it a chance and judge by yourself!

(Not exactly fluent in English, sorry for any mistakes)

Yes, it is a sad story and not for everyone's tastes. It's not pleasant like the first one. But that doesn't mean it's bad. I believe it's actually one of the most well written videogame's plots, not worried about conventional cliches and comfortable endings. It is bold to write such a thing aware that it will not be enjoyable for people. And maybe that wasn't the right thing to do considering that the purpose of games is entertainment, but it is a good story, with a deep meaning that makes you think about the complexity of moral and human emotions, and that stays in your head for a long time.

    (SPOILERS AHEAD)

First of all, of course it's heartbreaking to watch Joel die in such a brutal way. He captivated us in a way that made us comprehend why he killed innocent people and took away the chance of a cure for humanity just to save Ellie. He had a heart and couldn't stand losing another daughter, the only thing he had left. It was selfish, but we sympathized.
Abby didn't know Joel. The only thing she knew was that he murdered her father. And came after him for the exact same reason Ellie did the same with her. And at the very end, after losing all of her friends and her group, she attached to Lev and realized it wasn't worth it to keep seeking for revenge.
Ellie couldn't get over it. She still saw Joel everytime she closed her eyes. The only way to get peace was to go after Abby. And in the final moment, she remembers of the last conversation she had with Joel. About wanting to forgive him. And that's what she did. It was the only way she would actually feel peace.
"So she did all of this for nothing?" killing Abby would also be for nothing. Joel wouldn't come back. She wouldn't undo anything. She'd just probably kill Lev as well, leaving him alone in those conditions. There's no downside in letting Abby live. It's in that moment that under all of her guilt, rage and sadness, we get to see the little girl again. We get to see Ellie's essence.

And even though it feels like she lost everything for nothing, it was the only way she knew at the moment to deal with all those feelings. It was only when she was completely alone that she realized all of this was meaningless, and there was no way she'd realize that before. It's just how humans work.

"So why does she have to end alone?" she doesn't have to. It's just how the story goes. It's the sad story of where revenge took a girl. It doesn't have to be compensating. And again, obviously not everyone will like it. But you can't say it's bad.

The overall themes are very clear but come across trying too hard to be deep and can almost feel insulting to the players intelligence sometimes . Such a shame as the team is talented and the first game + DLC where very strong both in pacing and story. There was also strong diversity representation in the earlier games that was done in a way that serviced the story more gracefully and did not feel like ticking a box. The characters you turn up for are treated poorly. Better handling of Elle and Joel would have left space for Abby and Lev to shine. This game tries so hard at killing their original image that it successfully takes away the charm of the reason it has been so successful, as if it is disgusted with its own DNA. It pains me to write this review and I truly hope they bring Elle back from this unnecessarily overly dark place and fix the HBO show with stronger stories. 7 years is too long to wait between most creative projects and it shows. Naughty Dog are good visual game developers but their creative narrative team have hurt themselves.

The Last of Us Part 2.

Boa noite a todos e espero poder ajudar com minha opinião.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
