The combat system is fine, but totally disappointed on the story. If the name and the characters became others, this would be a great game....

Absolutely a disgrace of a game.

Nice Graphics. Other than that you butchered the story from Last Of Us 1. The characters you made us love and fight for in TLOU1 were massacred for the sake of Neil Druckmann and Anita Sarkeesian trying to go all woke in their very poorly written story. You guys killed the franchise now. I hope you are happy. You butchered the main character. Enjoy your dumpster fire.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely disgusting how the beloved characters, Joel and Ellie, are treated after their amazing adventure from part 1 in 2013. This is what the fans waited for?! Really!??
The beginning of the game plays out like the first episode of season 7 of the Walking Dead, where Joel is beaten to death with a golf club by a newly introduced villain named Abby. To make things worse, the game then forces you to play as Abby, a character you will hate. Ellie vows revenge against Abby, but she never gets it. The end of the game is one of the most pointless depressing endings I've ever had the displeasure of viewing.
It's clear that Naughty Dog had an agenda to push with this game. Specifically an "Anti-White male" agenda. This is something I will absolutely not support and I will no longer purchase any games from Naughty Dog. The director, Neil Druckman, will never live this game down and it will always come back to haunt him.

The problem with heavily "multimedia" games (Games where the appeal lies in a combination of graphics, gameplay, story, music, etc.) is that no matter how good any one part may be, you can only judge it by its whole. TLOU 2 is an expensive game made by talented people who were all laboring towards a bad idea. As a result, TLOU 2 is just a bad game. PARTS of it are outstanding. But the parts can never escape the whole. Ultimately TLOU2 feels pointless. It's characters are the weakest element. They all seem created to feel like "real people", but are slavishly tied to a thread of "fate" that feels often inexplicable. The romance between Ellie and her love interest feels most egregious because the characters relationship advances like a rocket against the least romantic backdrop imaginable. When Ellie casually calls her partner "babe" and casually works in an affirmation of "love", I was like... "what?!?". It's the script trying to go someplace that's completely unearned despite trying SO VERY HARD. And that's the main criticism with the writing of TLOU2. It's trying EXTREMELY hard to do... SOMEthing. But just what is inexplicable.

TLOU2 is a perfect example of why narrative games shouldn't be so expensive (to produce). It hurts to have to call them out for not living up to the expense.

Ellie's sections of the game, especially Seattle, were pretty great, with some nice improvements to the gameplay mechanics and level design. The second half of the game, however, was a failure of story telling which I had to force myself to play just to find out how this game ends.

Naughty Dog’s story may be unlikable to many, but it’s a necessary and emotional one. If you enjoyed Part II’s predecessor, you really have to play this game. The fact that the game is as polarizing as it is has to speak volumes about its contents. If you have the money and you’re interested in, as Ellie says, “see(ing) what all the fuss is about”, then get the game. Don’t let the reviews influence you if you’re conflicted. Play it for yourself. Form your own opinion. That experience alone is worth it.

The story is a laughably bad excuse for a sequel. The gameplay has not been improved except for the trivial jump button, which might as well be removed because it is useless. AI has not been improved either, zombies still act really stupid. The game is visually nice, but it still has many bugs. Notably, corpses will just disappear if you don't look at them for a split second. The game is way too violent, but I'm sure many sociopaths and psychopaths alike are happy about that. Wish they also had such perfectionists regarding the story. The characters can be considered among the most bland in the gaming industry. You can‘t help but it really feels like the „second main protagonist“ had been created as a vessel to carry the message of the self-proclaimed „anti-sexist“ movement, which actually turns out to be a misandrist movement, especially with a strong bias against caucasian white males, and the idea that such are „overrepresented“ anywhere, may it be film or games, apart from other redundant reproaches like „damsel in distress“.

Whoever enjoyed Star Wars Episode 7-9 might get along with the character development in this game. Whoever „made friends“ with Joel and Ellie in the first game. I strongly suggest to stay away from this game.

I cried my eyes out, and even after the shock- I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I even laid awake restless the night after I played. Naughty Dog does not understand how much Joel meant to us, or they just don't care, regardless of either, I will not be finishing this game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a person who has played The Last of Us numerous times, marking it as one of my favourite games of all time, I cannot elaborate enough my colossal disappointment with this game. I made a metacritic account for the sole purpose of writing this review.

To begin, the graphical fidelity of this game is remarkable. It's absolutely beautiful to look at, and locations look so real. The combat feels the same as before, but there is some freedom to the gameplay since you can go prone in grass and hide under things (wow, revolutionary right?). But that is not why I disdain this game. The real reason is because of the story, writing, characters and the ending to this **** game.

I do not give a **** about the characters in this game. Mostly. Therefore, I do not care about what's happening in the story. After Joel's stupid demise, I ended up just not caring about what was happening. Sure, thinking about killing Abby was nice, but it's a pretty long time before Ellie and Abby ever meet, AND YOU DON'T EVEN PLAY AS ELLIE. YOU PLAY AS ABBY. WHAT THE **** WERE YOU THINKING, NEIL?

Before I get to that point, the game feels like a 20 hour long side quest and not a lot of significant things happen. The entire purpose is to find and get revenge on Abby. But most of the game isn't that. It's watching characters do tedious puzzles and hearing them make stupid jokes in throwaway dialogue. Sure, i have to admit there were some impressive set-pieces there and then, like Ellie and Jesse in the car, speeding away from the WLF and the infected, but as a whole, it was quite boring and dull.

I've seen live-streams of people and I've never seen such a more bored group of individuals watching someone else play the game.

After like 10 hours, you have a cutscene of Abby pointing a gun at Tommy and Ellie, killing Jesse in the process (a character I didn't care for since he barely had screentime), then it does something so **** stupid it blows my mind. It makes me PLAY ABBY HERSELF FOR ANOTHER 20 HOURS? NOBODY GIVES A **** ABOUT THIS **** FRIDGE OF A WOMAN. SO WHY THE **** AM I BEING WATERBOARDED WITH ANOTHER 10 HOUR ****FEST OF ME PLAYING AS SOMEONE I DON'T CARE ABOUT? THIS FRIDGE, WHO LOOKS LIKE A 9 YEAR OLD CHILD AND A 40 YEAR OLD MAN AT THE SAME TIME, IS THE PERSON WE HAVE TO PLAY?!

People in livestreams exclaimed in joy whenever Abby gets shot, falls off a building, burned alive, her neck snapped. This is the same character we are forced to sympathise with, yet nobody at this point of the game cares about her. We have to see her interact with other one-dimensional characters and the ONLY good one that I can remember, being Lev. I somewhat liked Lev and his/her interactions with Abby. But at that point of the game, I stopped caring that much about him/her.

Then, when get through the game, we're back to the present, Abby kills Jesse, then cripples Tommy, then proceeds to chase Ellie down and beat the ever-living **** out of her, knocking her pregnant girlfrined out. Ellie goes back for revenge afterwards.

And this is the part where I'm the most infuriated.
THE ENDING. After having this "epic showdown" with Abby, Ellie gets two of her fingers bitten off. Ellie proceeds to drown the **** in the water. But then, after a brief flashback of Joel, she doesn't kill her, because "REVENGE BAD lmao". Ellie literally loses her fingers, her girlfriend, her relationship with Tommy, she loses Joel, her parental figure, but Abby gets to live and get off almost scotfree?

    WHAT THE ****?
BECAUSE OF THAT ENDING, THE GAME BEEN RENDERED A COMPLETE WASTE OF **** TIME AND MONEY. 60 GREAT BRITISH STONES GONE. ABOUT 20-25 HOURS GONE. FOR THAT **** ENDING?

I'd rather replay Mass Effect 3 and watch the ending a thousand times over this dog**** of a result. Fire Neil Druckmann, don't ever let him milk this murdered franchise, and keep him far away from the gaming industry along with that witch Anita Sarkeesian. I've never been more **** angry seeing a game since... I don't even know!

so yeah this game is **** and is only 3/10 because graphics i guess.

The story in this game really suffered from poor pacing and almost had a sense of laziness. The gameplay didn't have any noteworthy innovations. As a huge fan of the first game, I am deeply disappointed in how this game turned out. The game gets 2 points just for the visuals.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There is some good things in this game, graphics, presentation, acting. However non of this stuff over rides the major flaws. The biggest issue for me was Ellie’s journey was terrible and riddled with plot holes. Someone needs to tell me why, after mowing down tons of bad guys who literally had nothing to do with Joel’s death Ellie suddenly has second thoughts when she reaches her targets who took part in the killing of Joel. Oh no I had to beat a lady with a pipe to get the info I needed.. take a look at the morality here. I’m what... I just stabbed a fire poker through a guys head who was just doing his job and walking his dog. Immersion never happens for me as I never found Abby a like able character.. Joel’s decisions leading to his death made no sense, he wouldn’t trust a group of people he didn’t know. The ending had 0 satisfaction, as Ellie makes some decisions that are questionable and never gets her revenge. And what developer intentionally makes a sequel he knows his fans will dislike makes no sense

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played the game, I didn’t like the game, it didn’t even feel like the same franchise as the first one. The first game shouldn’t have gotten a sequel in the first place but here we are. The whole game Ellie plows through hundreds to kill Abby but yet when she actually reaches Abby she doesn’t kill her? Why? To maintain her humanity? But she’s been killed so many people how could she save her humanity by sparing one person, who has also killed tons of people. Abby is poorly written character, I don’t hate her because she killed Joel or because shes buff, she’s boring at best. She’s a violent and sarcastic soldier who has a dark past ooh so original and true whole revenge is bad plot point was so dumb. OH did you know being selfish and killing purely out of self interest is bad??? EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. The game is so heavy handed and annoying it acts like it’s telling a story that’s better than it actually is. But I’m gonna be real, I didn’t completely hate the game, I like the graphics, the actors, and the music. The part exploring the downtown area to get gas was probably my favorite part of the game just because it was beautiful, has interesting dialogue every now and then, and had the Take on Me scene. Okay game but that’s all I can say for it. Not a masterpiece by a long shot. It’s like they made it with the intention of disappointing and disrespecting the fans of the first game. Just to push a ideological View that doesn’t care about anything but power and destroying everything we love. Don’t fool yourself into believing they actually care about gay/trans people. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Uhmmmmm..I've never written one of these before, because I've never cared about a game this much before. I'm sure no one will read this, but I need to write this for myself as much as for the off chance that it will actually get read. I am Joel's age, I have two daughters that were Ellie's age for game one and subsequently game two. Hell my youngest daughter, who is now 15, is named Elle and has come out as gay!! This was OUR game, we loved it. We COSPLAYED it at Houston's COMICPALLOOZA. We have been waiting for this game for 7 years. The pre-order for LOS 2 was their Christmas present to me last year. And in a blink of an eye, NaughtyDog destroyed that for us. Tore up my memories and a very special connection that I had with my daughters. Of course in the span of things this is a small hurt, but it was special to me. There are no games that have had this relationship explored. Seven years ago, I teared up when Joel lost his daughter. NaughtyDog not only killed Joel, but they killed his relationship with Ellie and they also killed the Ellie we all knew. They did this for selfish, narcissistic (sp?), and ( I suspect) SJW reasons.

Additionally, NaughtyDog knew they had a pile of crap on their hands because they lied to us for over a year on what the game would be. To compare, if you were sold that "Schindler's List" was a wonderful period peace love story set in Nazi Germany; rather than a heart rending true story master peace, you would come out of the movie pissed; no matter how good the movie was. Is Schindler's List a great movie? Yes! Was it what you thought you were buying you and your date a ticket for? HELL NO!!!

The game is beautiful, the mechanic's are good but boring, and it's very similar to the original. However, it's depressing, with a convoluted story where characters make decisions that would never be made. The game is just bad. These Hipster SJW's gave us a "Tin Man", excuse me...a "Tin Person": Shiney, Operable, but NO HEART!!!

Finally NaughtyDog (if anyone associated with Naughty Dog actually reads this) shame on you. You lied and cheated your fans for 4 million pre-release sales, you stuck Joel's head next to Luke's and Han's, and you tore apart a very special bond between this father and his daughters . I will never forgive you all for what you did to a wonderful story and I most certainly will never buy another one of your games.

And you think showing me that Joel passively killed Abby's dad while saving Ellie would make me think differently? Did Abby kill anyone's dad or are all her victims without children?
The game is waaaaay too long and maybe I could've been ok with it ending at the theater or maybe even after saving Abby. I would still have preferred killing her but hey, it's still a stupid ending. But then you fight her and still let her go?? I can enjoy games and movies with non happy endings but this is just insanely stupid and it makes our favorite characters look like incredibly unlucky ** while the bodybuilding psychopath gets her revenge (killing the main character we all loved) and still gets away with everything.

Btw Joel also saved the world by not letting the fireflies develop a vaccine that would've made them the most powerful faction in a world of criminals so yeah... You're welcome!
And my vote is even without considering the SJW propaganda you try to force down our throats.
Insanely idiotic storyline and SJW culture everywhere. You want to make a game about lesbian love? Sure go for it. A game about a bodybuilding woman? Hey I think she's still hot enough and would definitely nail her, so sure. A game about a trans preteen running from the fanatic family? I guess. Big broomhilde (from Robinhood men in fights) hammer wielding tank class? Ooooookay. Female deity for the fanatics? Fine. Another female guard saying "I'm gonna be on a shift with my girlfriend later ;)"... Isn't that a little too much to shove into one game? Just a huuuuuge coincidence right?
This is my first review on a non YouTube video.. that's how much I'm disgusted by the story of this game

Now before i begin i just want to say that this review is going to have 3 sections. 1st section is Ellie's campaign. 2nd section is Abby's campaign and the 3rd one is an overall score

    1) Ellie's campaign
I could understand why they killed off joel at the start setting it as the basis for her whole revenge storyline. However, i would have personally preferred if they had spent the intro trying to build abby's back story and character more before we actually play her campaign later on. And i would have preferred for dina to have died instead to have more of a revenge for my lover storyline but i digress.

The environment and the graphics were amazing and some of the scenes got me right in the feels especially the guitar scene in the music shop when ellie was singing ill be gone. I really like the open world nature of Seattle Day 1 for ellie's portion of the campaign. I feel that they could have pushed the boundaries further with regards to the world being a bit more open in seattle day 2 and day 3. I like how the game progressively introduces the various new monsters and stakeholders into the game and ellies dialogue with dina feels very natural and organic. One of the few gripes i have is obviously when jessie suddenly appeared and said "do you think ill let you do this on your own" which was joel's line in the trailer. Would have preferred if it was maybe tommy or if she ran off on her own and dina found her later on would have made more sense. The flashbacks for ellie's campaign are incredible too especially the dinosaur museum scene. My last gripe is i felt they killed of jessie too fast and they didnt do enough justice to the character.

For Ellie's campaign alone i give it a solid 8.5/10.

    2) Abby's Campaign
Now here comes the controversy. As i mentioned above, had the developers spent more time developing abby's back story and character in the introduction i may have cared a bit more for the character and would have been more immersed in their story. But because the background wasnt well developed at the start i literally felt nothing for Abby and to add fuel to the fire it was her who so cruelly killed off joel. I understand from a creative point of view why the developers did it this way but from a fan's point of view it was really horribly done. As a fan i really couldnt buy into it and whats more they made us play half of the whole damm game as abby. And the ending in the theatre whereby you have to beat ellie up broke my heart so bad and made me even more pissed at naughty dog. All these negatives aside abby's campaign does have one strong positive. Its locations and set pieces. The stadium at the start of the campaign looks gorgeous and who will ever forget that massive boss fight in the hospital or that never ending descent from a skyscraper of a building, searching that shipwrecked ship or scar island for that matter. Btw i did feel that they could have done something more with scar island like making it a bit more open worldish. Yara and Lev's story was unnecessary in my opinion and felt very much like filler to add to the runtime. My score for Abby's campaign is a 5.5/10. Simply because i couldnt give a **** I literally just rushed through her entire campaign. 3) Overall
For the gun and crafting mechanics there really arent that many changes. There are some new bombs and new weapons you can use but thats about it. Stealth combat is pretty much the same. The mechanics are kinda outdated somewhat for 2020 but i dont really have a gripe with it because the mechanics do work as they are intended to and sometimes dont fix what aint broken is the way to go. For the training manuels and skill tree i did want something abit more diversified and different other than just increasing my listening distance or increasing my crafting speed. For the ending, it was not satisfying at all. There was no proper payoff so like after chasing abby for the whole game Ellie just lets her live. It made me feel like i wasted my time. Final score 6.5/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is being smeared due to the majority of player reviews having no life experience, compassion, or any emotional maturity or development at all. I own the collector’s edition, and I thoroughly enjoyed this game. As with most sequels, it is not as good as the first which is why it is not 10/10 but this game is a masterpiece. I played this on my 10 year old tv and it was still visibly stunning.

I was expecting Joel to be "red shirted" at some point in the game, I was not expecting it so early on in the game. It genuinely ruined my day when that scene played out, and I did stop playing it when that happened, but I continued the next day. But to simply hate, and to send death threats to the actress over an expected fan favourite death is beyond comprehension! It wouldn't have been much of a revenge story if it was Dina who was murdered. We all love Joel, and we all felt the betrayal and anger of the game. Anger is a shared emotion, we share Ellie's anger, and we want to make the WLF pay. Dina to me is more of a minor detail, I was happier to have Jessie along for the ride as he was a much more useful companion, however you get the idea with how delicate Dina is when you compare her early pregnancy symptoms compared to Mel who is heavily pregnant.

The game is so much more brutal now, and you can be calculating and cruel in your actions. The details that have been put into the game can be missed if you're frothing at the mouth with your mountain dew and Cheeto fingers in your mothers basement REEEing about Abby. When you stealth kill someone, you see the light leaving their eyes, you see the death wash over their faces. If you kill a dog handler without the dog knowing, it whimpers and wines, looking for it's handler. The visible injuries and the gore left behind from the Molotov’s and explosive arrows are harrowing. Especially when the runners are madly crawling after you with no legs - very unsettling and making me board the nope train. The bloasters are **** sted heads, full on cocaine raging at you and are pretty stressful to play against, especially whenever you face them it's always conveniently in a claustrophobic area, similarly to the shamblers.

I somewhat bonded with Abby, I understood her pain. However I was more warmed to Ellie for obvious reasons. I think Abby doesn't play as smoothly as Ellie, and I think her stealth kill is so much more slower than Ellie's, even whilst fully upgraded. I'm glad her and Owen had their moment, no matter how bitter sweet it was with Mel and how it all ended. You knew that Owen would always carry a torch for Abby, even in death. He chose to not die next to Mel, or attempt to get to Mel, he got as far away from her whilst they both bled out - the mother of his unborn child! I was pissed out with Abby's comment of Ellie and Tommy "wasting the opportunity that Abby gave them by not killing them". The audacity after hunting someone down and killing them, and didn't expect any repercussions - pot, kettle, black.

I desperately want to know more about the Scars, who their leader was. Not much is revealed even when picking the place apart. It is easily missed that the Scars only started beheading and stoning people and their kind when their leader died. How the new 'elders' allocate many wives to themselves to birth their kin. Terrifying knowing the fate of Len who was chosen at 13 to be a wife to the elder. I would do anything to avoid being trafficked by my community for some vulgar, over grown, overdue being killed, old man who abuses children and women. I am reading between the lines, but it's not a hard connection to make when a CHILD has been allocated a wife role - something we should take into consideration that happens in our world to much younger children. I really do hope that there is DLC about the Scars, or when the long awaited MP that is in the works.

The ending was bittersweet too. I was sad that it was over. Ellie, grief stricken and taken over by PTSD, forced by Tommy and her PTSD episodes thinking that ending Abby's life would be the key to end their suffering. However upon seeing Abby, a husk of her former self, it wasn't worth the pain and energy. The hurt is from never having the chance to repair her relationship with Joel - a feeling many are familiar with when falling out with someone who then passes away. Hate eats away at you, makes you push those who mean the most to you away. You are then left with the scars of the hatred, unable to enjoy the happy memories that the deceased left you.

If you cannot understand this concept of the story, then you need to evaluate your life and your relationships with people if you cannot empathise with these emotions.

    Music/SFX (10/10)
The music and sound effects are really good too, you feel the power of the guns when you shoot them. The moments when Ellie plays the guitar are pretty nice.

    Characters (10/10)
I think all of the main characters are pretty well written, I find them very charismatic, all of them have an interesting plot and good development, they grow throughout the game.

    Story (8/10)
For me the story is one of the weakest points of the game, while it is decent and pretty interesting it has more awful moments than good ones. There's a section at the end that feels tedious and too stretched out, if it wasn't there it wouldn't hurt the game.

    Enemies (7/10)
I think the enemies are too similar to each other: all the humans are pretty much the same (except when you find the big ones) and the same can be said for the infected, there are various kinds but it gets boring, and there's only one really unique mob in the game.

    Gameplay (6/10)
While the gameplay received some improvements, it mostly remained the exact same as in the first part and becomes monotonous, boring and predictable at half of the game. Moreover, puzzles were practically nonexistant.

    Average Score (8.5)

Conclusion: The game is pretty good and beautiful, I had fun playing it. The story felt stretched out a little bit, but I liked the ending.

World is a bit prettier and that's about it. The story is atrocious and the characters are totally annoying. They just had to go and get political and alienate most of their fans in one way or another. It's really just a dumpster fire that needs to end now.

So they literally included a scene in the trailer just to hype the story with Ellie and Joel, a scene which never takes place, because Joel is killed off within the first 2 hours. 7 Years, waiting for a cheap revenge story filled with political ideologies where the main character is the person who killed Jorl? This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I love the original last of us, honestly one of the best games. I’m just pretending Part 2 didn’t happen though.

If Joel had to die I just wish it was done in a different way. When I finished part 2 I felt that his death was cheap and I was forced to try to sympathise with Abby, when I hated every moment I had to play as her. So half the game was terrible.

Joel saved her life then she just killed him without warning, that’s psychopathic. Yes Joel killed her father, but he was trying to save Elly because he didn’t want to lose another daughter. And her father did pull a knife on him, so I felt that more justified than what Abby did.

Joel killed out of an act of love, and Abby killed out of an act of revenge. That’s why I will never sympathise with her.

Joel killed out of love because he didn’t want Elly to die, and there was clear warning beforehand. Abby killed out of hatred for Joel without warning. Joel didn’t even know who she was. Like Joel, her motivation was selfish as well, and worse she dragged her friends into it.

I hated every moment I had to play as Abby and was left disappointed by the games narrative choices, and it ultimately ruined the game for me.

The evolution of graphics and new elements in the gameplay evolve as well as the story, which proves to be beautiful and violent at the same time, with extremely well-built characters, with well-defined personalities, which makes them unique. The photography direction work is clever when using smooth travellings almost uncut during their cutscenes which make them perfectly fluid, making it impossible to discern when the gameplay ends and the cutscene begins. The art direction of the game is impeccable. Each scene in the game looks like a painting thanks to the wonderful and colorful scenarios that, even in times of urgency, it is impossible not to recognize the wonder of the game world, even in a dystopian setting with a dazzling mix between nature and man. The subtle and striking soundtrack also has a beautiful and important role, as it marks the moments of action and calm in the narrative in a cautious and delicate way. The innovation of some features such as dodge, passwords for safes, skill tree and verticality in the gameplay bring a sense of evolution for both the game creators and the players, which gives more authenticity to the game and emerges the player even more in the world that it is inserted. The story shows in an elegant and magnificent way the consequences of how a simple action can have, the price that hasty decisions charge and how the vision of hero and villain are abstract and depend only on the point of view, all thanks to very well fitted plot twists and explained that it keeps the curiosity and mystery of the story until its end. By inserting the LGBT universe in the story, the narrative gains even more value when dealing with such a current and important theme in a delicate and adorable way. This game is a masterpiece of the games and will certainly mark the end of a console generation as the best game of the decade, just like its predecessor, which thanks to the super dedicated and attentive team from Naughty Dog and the fabulous Neil Druckmann, is an amazing, incredible, wonderful, charming and above all, exciting game. This game is totally the opposite, you cannot say it’s a master piece to most of the people who think the story is garbage. For me I had no problem with the lesbian relationship or the transgender character from Lev, for me it would be so weird if Ellie was straight, but I feel like I didn’t even need to bring that up because it didn’t cross my mind that it would be a problem.

The fact they disrespected Joel in the way he went out is like the writer hated him, I was pissed he died but if they did it to shock us and create an amazing journey of revenge, it didn’t work at all.

Last note, it’s like Iron Man dying in Infinity War and Thanos torturing him and ripping off his limbs, then ending the film there and End Game didn’t exist.

I waited 7 years for this and I’m just gutted with what they came up with, also I would love to play it again I absolutely loved the gameplay and graphics, but I can’t bring myself to play as that **** Abbey. I got a refund from my game as I won’t play it again and plus it was false advertising to play as Joel.

I recommend not buying the game or even playing, just play the first and pretend it didn’t exist...

The Last of Us Part II is also technically flawless, with beautiful exterior environments and top notch exploration and combat.

But this game really shines in depicting characters with real depth and complexity. And, oh boy, it really succeeds in making the case that there are two sides to a story.

No game is perfect, but this one arguably comes darn close. I also give it a 10 to counteract the biggots who chose to bomb this game, either because they can't stomach how the plot unfolds or because they have issues with its inclusive storyline.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished the game on 20/06/ 2020 and even today I can't stop thinking about it and the feelings and reflections that this game gave me. This game made me feel things I had never felt before. This game made me get into an internal conflict with myself, I didn't know what to feel anymore. The Last Of Us Part II gives you an inexplicable and very personal feeling that you can only feel when playing it. The story of this game is very well written! People who didn't like the game, probably didn't play it or understood the story in a completely wrong way. I've been a fan of The Last Of Us since 2013 and played both games at launch, and my favorite character was Joel, without a doubt. When he died, I felt emptiness inside me, I felt worse than Ellie, I was filled with hatred and all I wanted to do was kill everyone responsible for it. When we go on our journey of revenge with Ellie, it is gradually noticeable that she is losing humanity and her essence. "If I ever were to lose you, I'd probably lose myself." and that’s what happened to Ellie and us players. Ellie was completely lost after losing Joel. She was filled with hatred and continued an endless cycle of hatred and revenge. Abby lost the person she loved most in the world, her father. She had that pain inside her, and she only thought about it every day, because she had lost everything and she thought that the only thing that would bring her peace would be to kill Joel, to avenge her father. However, when she killed him, nothing changed. Abby continued to have her nightmares and kept thinking about her father's death every day, in addition to carrying a huge guilt for killing Joel. Abby lost her humanity and essence at that moment when she killed Joel. She didn't regret killing Joel, but she realized that none of it was worth it. Ellie is a mirror of Abby, because the two were lost because of the death of the person they loved most in the world. The two were feeding on hatred and losing their humanity, because of revenge. A quote that can define this whole situation, is "Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves" (Confucius), and one of these graves is for you, because you will get lost in the middle of the process of revenge, you will become someone else. Abby's journey is a journey of redemption, which is why she felt so compelled to help Yara and Lev. In that moment we can see how similar Abby is to Joel, because Joel lost his humanity after losing Sarah, he became a totally different person, he became cruel and sadistic, he was not a good person like before, and that is exactly what happened to Abby. Joel found love and his humanity again, when he met Ellie. Abby found love and her humanity again, when she met Lev. Ellie and Lev were like little lights of hope in the darkness of Joel and Abby. Abby managed to find her peace and redemption in Lev. You realize that when Abby was going to kill Dina, but she looks at Lev and decides to stop, because she knows that revenge never brought anything good to her life, and now she had one reason to live and move on: Lev. However, although Ellie lived a happy life on the farm with Dina, she did not eat, was sick and continued to have her panic attacks and nightmares, she would only find peace in herself. So she decides to go after Abby to find that peace. Abby refuses to fight Ellie because she was already destroyed inside because of revenge and had already realized that it was never and will never be worth it. She lost the love of her life and all of her close friends, she lost EVERYTHING. When Ellie was about to kill Abby, she has a memory of Joel and decides to stop. This memory of Joel was a good memory, he was happy and alive. In the last times that Ellie remembered him, she just remembered him dead and suffering. That memory was like "Stop, baby girl. It won't change anything and it will only destroy you", because when Ellie killed Abby, she would completely lose her humanity and her essence, and she would stop being the person Joel loved and cared for. I personally felt at that moment, that that "Ellie" was not the Ellie that we knew, it was not the Ellie that Joel knew and loved. She also saw what Abby felt for Lev, it was what Joel felt for Ellie. She let the love she felt for Joel, overcome the hatred she felt for Abby and it completely broke the cycle of hatred. Naughty Dog was very brave in producing this game and I really admire them for it. The interesting thing is that Ellie's memory of Joel at that moment, was their last conversation, their last words. Hate destroys many things, but a small fraction of love and forgiveness fixes everything. There are no heroes or villains in this story, only humans. It is a pity that many people failed to understand the message of the game... I'm sorry for the people who couldn't feel the experience and emotions that this game provided for us. I hope people have more love and maturity and don't spread unnecessary hate messages. MASTERPIECE Expand

Beautiful graphics can't save this absolutely terrible story. So many plot holes. Most of the character decisions make no sense. Seems that it was written to be divisive for the sake of being divisive. The bait and switch tactic of using new character models in trailer scenes to make you THINK the game is going to involve certain characters is a straight up lie. ND only preying on your feelings for the first game to get you to purchase the second. I genuinely feel sorry for everyone else who pre ordered this game. The only lesson this game taught me was that i will never pre order anything from NaughyDog. I laughed when i first heard about the leaks, thinking there was no way they could be true. It was.
