    I'm just sick of that obsolete gameplay. Lou1, uncharted 1,2,3,4 - how many third person clones are we going to get? And the social/political message of this game is absolutely destructive. Avoid this pile of garbage.

    Disgusting treatment of beloved characters - Imagine if the next Zelda game has Gannindorf kills Link in the worst way possible, spits on his corpse, and then forces you to control Gannondorf to hunt and kill Zelda.

    If this childish effort at writing is the direction that Sony is heading for PS5, then I will be seriously considering dropping out of consoles altogether. For context I'm a 43 year old man with a decent income that spends a lot of money on games and really do not like seeing what is happening with gaming at the moment. Get rid of these childish writers that do things for likes on Twitter and start entertaining gamers again.    … Expand

    The one thing Last of US was good at is the history and how it was directed. They throw everything away in this game. Graphics are nice, but that's it. Gameplay is dull just like the first game. Also, there is a obvious progressive agenda behind the game, which I don't think any game should have. Just imagine a game that support Trumps views, a lot of people won't like it.

    I am disappointed, not angry but disappointed. I waited 7 years for this and it really let me down. The story is one convoluted mess. The plot is all messy and inchorent with no clarity. I did not feel the characters were true to themselves. The game has a lot of scenarios and incidents so convenient it is almost laughable. Focusing on secondary pointles, bland characters ( Lev and Yara for example ) just to make a point, instead of telling a good story. I won't even talk about Joel, it is ok to do what you want with a character but it could have been done in a better and more respectful way, it was just cheap shock and lazy writting (best example to compare with is SWTLJ) Unfortunatelly this game has entered the club of soulless entertainment media like the new Star Wars Trilogy, Marvel Movies, Season 8 of GOT, HBO Watchmen etc. What can I say it is just a game, even if we are disappointed there is no reason to linger, we should enjoy life more and be more careful when listening when someone tells us what to like or to buy.

Creative director Neil Druckmann has trolled loyal fans by delivering the complete opposite of what they wanted. Joel and Ellie might as well not be in this game. It desperately attempts to be clever by forcing you to commit acts of atrocity and then preaches to you about how awful this is... it’s moronic, patronising and simply fails on every level. The female writer that delivered the brilliant original had no hand in this utter garbage and it shows. I will never buy anything remotely connected to Neil Druckmann ever again. I sincerely hope that his career is over. Don’t waste your time or money, Ghost of Tsushima is coming out soon and then CyberPunk is following later on this year. My advice is to save your money for what are much more likely to be quality entertaining titles. Or if you really need an apocalypse fix and haven’t yet played Days Gone, it’s definitely worth a look, it’s the entertaining sequel that this game should of been.… Expand

    False advertising replacing a character from a trailer with another, forcing players to play as unrealistic unlikable character for a long period of the game. A revenge story that isn't a revenge story. With shock value for the sake of shock value. Telling stories that don't fit the world and very few new enemies. Too political, forced sex scenes.

If at least I would have killed the big buff girl I’d be happier. The fact that you only play half the game with Ellie was bs. I wish they would have let us know that.     Absolutely cringe worthy the negative circle jerk that is happening around this game.

    I think this game absolutely closes this gen with perfection. I was left wondering how they managed to pull tgistoff on the ps4. It completely blows most of the latest releases on all platforms out of the water. The story.. The graphics.. The animation.. The gameplay.. This game is a must play.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I unterstand why people are pissed. They don‘t like how the game killed off Joel and say that the story doesn‘t make sense. In my opinion it does. Of course, the fact that the doctor, Joel killed at the end of TLOU 1, hat a daughter that would hunt down her dads killer seems kinda random. In my opinion the story still makes sense. In the world of the Last of Us, people don’t die like heroes they just get shot or whatever and that’s it. The enemies you kill are just getting shot or stabbed and die without much drama and so do our protagonists. Joel, who forgot how to trust while living in his peaceful little town Jackson, Jesse surprisingly getting shot in the face by Abby and so on.
    Also, Ellie is not better than Abby. They both kill with no regrets, the only reason you hate Abby and love Ellie is, that you know her from the first game.
    At first I hated Abby as well but playing her backstory made me like her more and more.
    The only thing that really pissed me off is the ending.
    From the point on, where Ellie and Dina live on the farm, with Jessie’s Baby etc. the game felt kinda weird. Ellie looked weird, Abby looked like a totally different person, the whole thing just felt like a different game in the last few ours.
    The Gameplay is not the best but actually improved a lot and is way more extensive and better to control then in the first game.

    All in all I think that, even though the fame gets way too much hate, its a masterpiece and next to Part 1, one of naughty dogs best games.    … Expand

    If you couldn't tell, the second biggest commendation I can give this game is that it has an absolutely astonishing ability to make me hate a character. Not because of how she looks, or what sex she is. I don't care how many dogs the game makes you pet in it's weak attempts to make you like her.

    It shows a lot about how pathetic I am I guess, but it's been five days, and my day is still ruined. Maybe it's because they outright said that fans of the first game might hate this one? Who knows.

    This game is very pretty, but it's sort of like putting a cute snapchat filter on your arm that was just torn off. It certainly looks nicer than it would without it, but gosh darnit this is certainly a pile of trash. A painful pile of trash.

    They destroyed the first game in an attempt to tell a blatantly obvious message of 'revenge bad' (unless you're Abby, then revenge is perfectly fine). They tried to be artistic, and in the process managed to throw the love and adoration the fans of the first game had for Joel and Ellie in the trash. And then burn the trash. And then spit on the charred trash.

    And finally, once they finished spitting on the charred pile of trash that is Ellie and Joel, they walked away with hundreds of awards for being the best at spitting on burnt trash. Then they took all the money and awards the garbage bin gave them(while it is a very pretty garbage bin, with lots of flowers and high resolution) and used it to buy a pretty crown. Now that the game is finally out, they at last get to put the trash crown on their heads, that the art designers earned for them. But hey, what worth does a stupid fan have when you can get a cool crown, some pretty '100's' and a truck full of money?    … Expand

    give 4 for the beautiful graphic, but the story killed the whole game. The story feels like they are forcing the character into this pools of vengeance trying so hard to be edgy in some point but it's just boring and easy to read through the whole situation and the death of character feels empty.

Its what none of the fans from the first one wanted, but its great nonetheless, and its the logical conclusion to the characters we met in the first game.

They kill off Joel, Ellie becomes a tormented soul who loses everything, and the only redeeming quality comes from Abby, Joel's killer. What's worse is that you have no choice in the matter to show mercy at any point in the game. You are forced to kill.
    Then there is actual sex in the game, along with drug use, you see a pregnant woman get killed and your dog. If they had a good story, this game would have been great. It doesn't. It's like Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull or the Star wars sequels or the last few episodes of Game of Thrones where characters turn bad for no reason at all.. There are several times when you think the game is going to fix things, but they only make it worse. The story was what made the Original Last of Us Epic. Buy this game when it goes on sale. The game play was fun, but the story was like it was made for 2020! We wanted a good game, we ended up getting a tragedy that disappoints and is depressing. It makes playing the whole first game pointless. All of the turnover at Naughty Dog explains why we got this crap. They really emphasize gay and trans characters, to the point that they really want to use it as a main plot line, and a built in excuse that anyone that doesn't like the story they can say well they are just bigots and homophobes. The truth is they have a depressing story that everyone hates, whether you are gay, trans, or straight. Ugh! If this is the future of gaming, then the gaming future is doomed.    … Expand

    Naughty dog could have made a great game by not killing Joel.
    Gameplay is good with gunfights and violence is like medium type.
    Reviewers emphasized on game violence and how brutal the game is but thats not the case its a medium type violence and i have seen worse violence than this game.

    New 'protagonist' is a virtual evil twin of Ricardo Milos
    Saved many people from wasting money in a difficult time (please take care of your health and loved ones)
    Better looking character models
    Teaches a lesson to other game developers on how to protect their intellectual property and finances
    Cons:
    Ruined Joel and Tommy's entire persona of being veteran survivalists in a post-apocalyptic world.
    Disengaged TLOU1 fans by focusing on real world pseudo social issues instead of staying true to game lore and atmosphere. Zombies, remember?

    The Last of Us was pretty great right? The graphics in this one are good, the level design is great, the voice acting is great. That's it. The gameplay part of the game is mediocre, and if you're a fan of the story of the first game and looking for a continuation of Joel and Ellie's story, prepare to have your expectations subverted.

    Neil Druckmann has done it, he has successfully drove an amazing game right into the ground and proceeded to spit on it. I won’t give it a 0 as the climate and landscape is beautiful, however the plot and script is beyond unbearable. It’s a shame to see a once great game get destroyed by a greedy, agenda driven nutcase.

    Так засрать игру, это надо постараться. Представьте себе, что вы играете более 40 часов геймплея для этой концовки. Ну вот пример Red Dead Redemption 2.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This score is more because of the bloated critic score and based on the story, characters and their poor development with a lot of their portrayal and how much I dislike the execution of the whole story.

    If i were to weigh the story with the rest of the game, I'd give it a 7/10, but that's because a lot of my enjoyment is from the story of games. I've played most of the game and seen the ending as well and a lot of the remaining parts since I watched someone during the last few hours of the game as I played up to that point, it largely discouraged me from still playing it right now.

    The story and the characters were the worst of it for me. It really ruined my enjoyment of the game with the involvement of characters and how they want us to feel for some of them but they are just so largely unlikable. Ellie is OK but I don't like her nearly as much as before and I loved the flashbacks with her and joel but they made her not as enjoyable. Also the fact that she didn't kill Abby at the end really bugs me.

    The fact that they killed Jesse the way they did, one of the only characters I actually liked, made the game slog even more as well as Dina leaving but I didn't mind her as a character, I personally expected her to die since this was meant to be a tragic story, same with Abby, and have Abby kill dina. I really didn't care for Abby and their situation with any of them and I was glad to see Manny killed right with her. Ellie made sure to ruthlessly murder all the guys but didn't kill the final two girls for such a poor reason.

    The banter between ellie and dina got sort've old as did the flirting, them communicating is also often off where it's almost like ellie doesn't know how to feel comfortable or really talk anymore but she was always so enjoyable in the flashbacks, especially the museum. I enjoyed that. The way they are often judging and thinking they are so much smarter than everyone as well, often thinking their version of justice even when they know next to nothing was rather annoying and their view point.

    I wish they would've involved jesse a bit more, he was sort've killed off fast but he had such limited involvement and I liked him. Probably one of my favorites which isn't saying much but they killed him off with little actual interaction over all compared to most characters with dina and tommy. Especially given the fact that he was the first new character introduced in the game. I rather enjoyed tommy's involvement and wish we got more time with him and his view during the game. however, he was really dumb with saying his name to a bunch of strangers. They made it well known last game to not really address yourself as well as their history. He nearly instantly states his name and joels after things calmed down rather than being on defense. Especially with their history besides only the last 4 years. Also, abby showed no hesitation to start killing joel after he just saved her life? Terrible writing and build up.    … Expand

    It is the melody of violence and rage, and a demonstration of how a traumatic event can change us forever and bring us down to the depths of revenge. Revenge is a disease.

    Abby's storyline shows us how our actions have consequences and that our perspective can be greater. While playing Abby, you learn why she killed Joel, and then you mean that Ellie and Abby aren't so different, they both lost a beloved one.

    The side qualities :
    - The sound design is good as hell !
    - Graphics (of course)
    - A basic gameplay in the service of history that didn't need to be fleshed out.
    - the themes addressed without forcing and propaganda (lgbt, religions...) its all about tolerance !

    Story: This is probably THE weakest part of the game. If you played the previous games, you should know that story has been one of the integral parts of what makes this game unique. Not only this game missed those heart-wrenching and emotional moments, but the story also felt forced as ever. It felt like they weren't even trying. A major downgrade in the quality of the story and conveyed no message whatsoever.

    Visual: Probably the only good thing about this game. If you don't mind playing a mediocre and not-so-important game for the sake of outstanding visuals, grab this one. This game will surely surprise you with eye-catching graphics.

    Soundtrack: Soundtrack is good. Not the best one out there but definitely tries to get you immersed into the game, which it could've done if it weren't for the boring and inanimate storyline.

    Innovation: Zero innovation. Doesn't bring anything new into the franchise. Avid fans like me who eagerly wait for these games wouldn't care much if this game never existed in the first place.

    Final Verdict: If you're considering buying this game and not sure if you should buy the game, I'll help you out. DON'T. If one word could describe this game, that would be "cash-grab". Naughty Dogs changed their previous gameplay elements and mechanics here and there and shipped this game in a new package. The story is as bad as it can get.     A lot of people on this website complain that the game has too much SJW forced into our faces, but I don't see a lot of SJW put into faces. The only SJW content really shown is that Ellie is gay and dates Dina. This isn't a problem and is not that bad of a thing.

    The biggest flaw of the entire game is the story that it revolves around. Graphics are breathtaking and the gameplay is similar to that of the first game, but the story writing is flawed. In the beginning, the game kills off one of the most beloved characters in gaming. I wouldn't have any issue with this if the character was given a noble death that may have been a bit longer in the story. The problem is that the character is killed off early and attempts to make you feel sympathetic towards the killers actions.
    The game only attempts to make you feel sympathy halfway in the game when you obviously hate the killer and Ellie is in a heated moment.

    One of the biggest story flaws I had was the ending of the game. The first game had me thinking whether Joel eradicating the fireflies and throwing away the fate of humanity was worth it. The ending had a bit of wholesomeness with Joel and Ellie retiring to Jackson.
    This ending isn't wholesome or fulfilling;it's outright depressing.
    The entire theme of the game is revenge and at the end, Ellie doesn't get the revenge she wanted and lets Abby go. Dina just straight up leaves Ellie and she is abandoned at the end. The ending had me depressed and feeling that none of the 30 hours I put into the game was worth it.    … Expand

    I hate this game. Story is full of **** Gameplay is boring. Neil and Anita destroyed one of the best franchises out there. I already sold my copy. Gonna get Ghost instead

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
