    The last of us 2 personally seems to me one of the best games out there on ps4.
    The gameplay is impressive, as are the graphics, soundtrack, and history. 10/10

There was some issues with it such as not going in depth with the Rattlers, Owen's motives, the sex scene, but overall I thought it was good. I'm being generous with my review because I feel the game is getting unnecessary hate from "Joel fanboys" who are just triggered that the game killed off their favorite character and how "unjust" his death was.

    Granted some people may genuinely hate the game and that's ok, but I think the story was good. It made you see things from the villain's perspective and had people relating to Abby and see where she was coming from and if you can make a sympathetic villain like Abby that's good story telling. There was also little key things throughout the story that painted a bigger picture and deeper story. An example was the bracelet Dina made Ellie. It spurs questions to the end of the story. Depending on how you look at it, either Dina left Ellie or she's back in Jackson waiting for her while she says bye to Joel.

    The moral was also on par with the last game. The last game the theme of family was consistent throughout the game and in this one the theme of vengeance was also heavily emphasized.

    As for the complaints that the promos were misleading because it lead you to believe that Joel wasn't dead. I'm not sure if anyone remembers the promos for the first game, but it lead me to believe that I would be playing Ellie instead of Joel the entire time. So this isn't the first time that we've been mislead before.

    I just hate seeing a well developed game get bashed because the users disagree with the story and now it's gotten to the point of threatening the voice actors. This fandom is becoming as toxic as Star Wars and all because everyone is just upset because they're obsessed with Joel.    … Expand

    The problem with all the negative reviews is that they wanted a fan service for a sequel. Naught Dog did something entirely different and they couldn't accept it. Also, the story showed that no one is innocent and that there are no heroes in this violent world. It's a realization that makes you feel uneasy.     Finally finished it. It gets better. :D had some big time scares and the weapons are awesome. Will plat this one. Excited to play it on ps5. :) unity peace and love please :) We need be less divided

    This game gets way more hate then I think it deserves. I'm not a very good reviewer but I enjoyed playing the game. I think if you take a minute to see things in Abby's point of view, you really understand her intentions. Its different from the first game but in a good way.

    10/10 Everyone has different opinions and I respect them but personally for me TLOU2 is one of the best games I've played. Thank you naughty dog for a amazing but also heartwrenching experience :)

The game wanted me to see Abby as a human and understand her motives and not just be a one dimensional "bad guy". I did see her POV and I did understand her motives but that didn't change the fact that I hate her and want to play as Ellie again so I can kill her. The section with Abby dragged on WAY too long and when I was forced to "hunt" and then beat Ellie I almost turned the game off for good. I continued thinking that after all this Ellie would finally get her revenge but no, 30+ hours and no pay off. The game really expects me to hate Ellie and see her as the bad guy now? Not happening! You've taken one person I care about away in Joel and that was a bold move but I am not turning on Ellie. I was actually ok with Joel being killed if the premise was to exact revenge but you never get it. Abby gets to sail off into the sunset (almost literally) after she got her revenge but Ellie loses everything. You never really see Abby grow as a character and she never shows remorse for what she did to Joel. You see Ellie struggle with some of the things she has done, Mel especially, collapsing to the floor when she realises she just killed a pregnant lady but no such thing for Abby. In fact when she finds out that Dina is pregnant she says "good" and goes to slit her throat only being stopped by Lev.

    The positives of this game is that it is visually stunning, just breathtaking at points and i did enjoy playing it but the story and disappointing, stupid unsatisfying ending ruined not just the game but the franchise. If they make a third game with Abby as the main protagonist (which im really worried they will) I wont be buying it. I feel so let down by how this game ended. 7 years I waited for this and its such a huge slap in the face.     … Expand

For starters, graphics are from another planet, the game is just beatiful to look at, naughty dog made a masterpiece out of the pro and i'm sure for slim/fat too. Story is not just a continuing of the 1st past, is more of a step forward towards the enviroment as a whole. The game is dark, the human urge to survive, the hunger for more that even in these times is not absent and the game of power that people play for decades. A punch in the guts, to have a look at humanity naked. The Abby part of the game seemed as it was necessary for the storytelling, it was a great idea to get to see the side of the "bad guy", the way it was written made it almost crazy to end her. Storywise Ellie was more mature, too, after the event that kickstarted the game. Mechanisms are not very different from part 1, with some great additions that were necessary to be present.     Currently about 75% through my 2nd playthrough. I won’t spoil anything but I really enjoyed the game. I know there’s been lots of discourse about it but I avoided spoilers before playing and didn’t read any reviews/comments until I finished. I loved the game. I rarely replay games because I always have so many others to play and never enough time to do so. However the second I finished ICurrently about 75% through my 2nd playthrough. I won’t spoil anything but I really enjoyed the game. I know there’s been lots of discourse about it but I avoided spoilers before playing and didn’t read any reviews/comments until I finished. I loved the game. I rarely replay games because I always have so many others to play and never enough time to do so. However the second I finished I wanted to get straight back into it. It’s also not often I buy a game at release let alone preorder. I wait for sales for pretty much everything. I preorder this and did not regret it.
    I love the gameplay and really like trying different ways to take out enemies both human & infected. As well as trying to sneak through whole encounters untouched. Several parts made my heart race and I was trying so hard in real life to hear any little sound or spot movement, especially for stalkers. The game is dark and there’s lots of parts that genuinely pulled at my heartstrings. I hope there’s gonna be dlc or something like that because the ending felt a little missing. I get that not everyone likes the same things in a video game, but I wish people got less upset about someone enjoying something they don’t.
    I like story driven games. I like survival style games. I loved the 1st game. So for me this was a great buy and I would definitely recommend.    … Expand

    Absolutely amazing experience, just like the first game, yes people may be having a cry because of certain events in the game. This shouldn't overshadow the absolutely beautiful game and immersive story line! All the emotions you go through playing the game is exactly what Naughty Dog are trying to achieve. It filled me with a sickening sense of dread at the fate or actions of my favorite characters. There will be painful moments where you watch characters make decisions you don't agree with. But the game isn't made for you to like it or to be traditionally enjoyable. It isn't a game that cashed in on the latest trends or played it safe to reach the broadest audience. It's a game that was made to get a point across and make you think about what's important to you. And by the credits I had no doubt that it had accomplished that goal. Each protagonist and all their connections are revealed as much as possible. Experiencing each main character. The authors raised the theme of the circle of cruelty of malice and hatred. The outcome of the story is very realistic, it is not always possible to get rid of the void after loss. The main thing is not to stop and will learn to let go and put up with these losses.

    No spoilers. This game is incredible. Like nothing I've ever played before. You must experience this game first hand. No stream or review will do it justice. If your a fan of the first one, go in with as much of an open mind as possible and dont pay attention to the haters. Also the gameplay is top notch

    TLoU2 is hands down the best game I have played this decade...and that's saying something after playing and enjoying the likes of original tlou,god of war,spiderman,bloodborne,uc4 etc.
    The gameplay is fun..the variety of ways in which you can approach an encounter is just astounding. Great replayability and very flexible gameplay not to mention the amazing difficulty modifiers which    TLoU2 is hands down the best game I have played this decade...and that's saying something after playing and enjoying the likes of original tlou,god of war,spiderman,bloodborne,uc4 etc.
    The gameplay is fun..the variety of ways in which you can approach an encounter is just astounding. Great replayability and very flexible gameplay not to mention the amazing difficulty modifiers which change up things like ammo, enemy pattern and behaviour etc.
    Drool worthy visuals and F-in-amazing audio design.
    Great voice acting and performances from the cast and crew.
    And a very nice complex story which just keeps on going and giving. really good writing. the structure of the game is a bit odd, but serves the story and more importantly the narration really well.
    I am glad nd had the guts to do this game and commit so hard to what they wanted to do with it.
    It really shines for me personally. Highly recommended to everyone who has played and liked the first game. Tlou2 really tops the original in every way.    … Expand

    The games truly fantastic, but can it live up to the first game? No, sequels never can! But it was a hell of a lot of fun to play. I’m glad to see the average score is rising for the game, because there are a lot of butt hurt toxic ‘fans’ out there, down voting this masterpiece because of some dark story telling choices and some political themes they don’t agree with.

    I think the Abby part was a little long, that way it didn‘t feel like Ellie‘s Journey but like the Journey of both of them.
    On the other Side i really liked the Story with Lev and the Scars. It made sense to show that the Character that killed Joel isen‘t pure evil. I think Dani and Jessie where great as well and i loved the short part with JJ, i think the Game portrays well how revenge-driven people sometimes will leav everything behind just for their revenge. I‘m glad that Ellie spared Abby at the End and you can really see, what everything did cost Ellie, with her not even having enough fingers left to play the guitar. The Szene with Joel was cruel at the End, she just wanted to work on things with him the night before he got killed... i think the story was great! Sure there were some small issues, like i didn‘t cared for most of the WLF’s bcs i new they are dead anyways. But yeah all in all it was nice storytelling.

    Also, the music, lighting and rendering are all incredible! As well as the acting but i think that‘s needless to say.

    I hope there will be a DLC where we search for Dina and JJ.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm pretty disappointed I'm even writing this. I was excited for the continued success of the series, but they severely missed the target with this one. So what happened? Let's talk about most of it: the good and the bad.

    The entirety of this game isn't terrible. We'll be discussing this later, but quite frankly I think I would have thought this title was OK had it done a few things differently, but for what we got: here are a few things I enjoyed:

    . Relaxing gun modification sounds and animations at the workbenches. I could watch this for minutes on end.

    . Stunningly gorgeous graphics. While this may not shine at all times, you can really appreciate the art when you take a moment to look at the scenery in between scrounging.

    . There are some clear winners in the gameplay section department. That giant Seattle area where Ellie constantly scribbled on the map? Superb. I was hoping there'd be more. The entirety of Abby's creepy hospital section? I was on edge. When I stopped being disappointed by the story as a whole: they really had some fun sequences here.

    . The idea to hide upgrade trees as a question mark to what you may even get instead of showing us all of the possibilities was a fantastic idea. This way I didn't hoard my pills waiting for the stealth magazine to show up, but instead I upgraded the abilities I had at every given moment to maximize my combat potential in the scenarios I faced NOW.

    . The sheer amount of accessibility and difficulty adjustment options are great and SHOULD have been highlighted before starting your first run. I would have killed to know that an autopickup option existed for items as you scurried around the numerous kitchens and ruins. Heck I probably would have modified the AI partner behavior instead of living with my frustrating experience I was given (we'll get to that).

    . The character diversity was a highlight for me. Representation in games really is important to a lot of people, and I think this was mostly a good step. Some people have a problem with how Lev's trans issues were portrayed as the only thing going for Lev, but since I'm not a part of that community I want their voice to be heard above mine on that matter.

    You can see from the above that I actually find quite a few things to enjoy. Unfortunately the next section will be... a bit heavier. Here is what I found lacking:

    . The biggest flaw is easily the story structure and pacing. That cliffhanger mid game is ending of Code Geass season 1 levels of jarring. Want to see the rest of the theater scene? Too bad play 12 hours of a new character. Don't like her? Tough cookies now play fetch with this dog and eat a burrito with Manny. I honestly think I would have found the game to be "eh it's fine" had it been tied together chronologically.

    . I can't believe I'm not allowed the lament the loss of the main protagonist from the last game. He did a lot of wrong and deserved it (e.g. killed innocent people to survive), but I grew to like him over my 10~ hour journey in TLoU1. Paired with Ellie he was fun to be around. THEY were fun to be around.

    . Dulled partner parings with actually intrusive AI, pushing you out of cover often, and milquetoast conversation. The days of a Joel / Ellie paring were only hinted at in the numerous flashbacks and teased me at what a proper TLoU2 could have been.

    . Too many flashbacks and too many flashbacks within flashbacks. TLoU2 could have learned proper story structure from its predecessor if it listened.

    . The slight manipulation of Ellie killing (all but 1) dogs she meets while Abby can play and pet them. Felt like a cheap trick as one of the first things in Abby's section.

    . The 3 hour misery simulator, chaining events of a theater deathmatch to dancing in the kitchen to fat geralt to a waist high water brawl. I've never begged a game to just be done with it more often than this flounder drowning in ankle deep water.

    . While most of the gore could be passed off as "hey look video game violence", something about the leaky blood from throat stabs and the "clip her wings" section were quite uncomfortable. Also for Christ's sakes the dog killing... just purely miserable.

    I had to cut a lot of content to meet the character limitations, but know there's a lot to talk about and, at the end of the day, because I disliked my time with this game doesn't mean you have to or should take it to the level of death threats to the game's creators. It's an experience, I had one, you had one, we can move on.    … Expand

    Pointless history Without the story the game means nothing. This game does have great visuals and great gameplay, the story just isn’t good and it tries too hard to make you feel sorry for people that you don’t want to feel sorry for, they just don´t care. Trying to make a complicated story and being a good game is not always a valid premise. Wasted talent. Unplayable game.

    This game is a disappointment. I think I can speak for everyone by saying that I wanted a game, not a middle school ethics class. The story is okay for the first half of the game, but then the game wants us to view everything from a complete different perspective, and the second half feels more like a 10 hour long side-quest and it all sums up to a truly disappointing ending.

    This review is coming from someone who tried to not see any of the leaks and spoilers and decided to play the game with an open mind. Maybe the game will be good, maybe it'll be bad. Won't know until I play it.

    The Last of Us Part 2's biggest flaw is that it's a video game. The combat is actually good. It's largely the same as the first game's combat so there's nothing innovative here, but they added some quality of life improvements and lots of layers of polish that it ends up being way more fun than the first game. There's lots of different ways to tackle a combat scenario and it accomodates people of different playstyles. Outside the combat though is when the game starts to dip in quality. The locations are big and beautiful... but they're also big. With no enemies. And constant looting and looking for supplies. There's way too much downtime in the game and it really ruins the pacing, which for a game that prides itself on telling a cinematic story, horrible pacing can ruin a lot of great stories.

    Which is why I believe that if this story was a film, or better yet a TV series, it would've benefited more from the medium it's in. As much as I liked the combat, I dreaded the in-between sections where there wasn't story or combat. This is also a very linear story where the player can't change a character's choice, you have to just let it play out. So even if the story is REALLY good, I still have to go though 2 hours of walking around, bits of combat here and there to keep me from being bored, until I finally get to the next cutscene to see how the story plays out. This shouldn't have been a game. This story does not benefit from being a game (despite the actual "gamey" parts being really good).

    Of course EVERYONE is critiquing the story more than anything. Which makes sense, Naughty Dog prides itself on linear storytelling in games to be as cinematic as possible. You SHOULD worry about whether or not the game has a good story. But most of the people critiquing the story either hasn't played the whole thing or made up their minds before playing and were close-minded the whole time. So is the story good? Or is it as bad as people say?

    It's good. Not a masterpiece. Not very original (but let's not pretend the first game was). However, the execution of everything: the actors, the music, the writing. It's all A+. I respect Naughty Dog for taking risks and trying to tell a story that could upset fans. Because at the end of the day this story makes sense in the world the characters live in. "I don't like this new character that I play as." Really? Because this character is REALLY similar to a character you like in the first game. Literally has the same qualities. I was invested in the story the whole way through. There were certain characters that I hated at first, but over time I realized they're actually well written, fleshed out, three dimensional characters. This is a great cast. Telling the story out of chronological order could have backfired, but it's so well written that it actually works. So the game in my opinion is an 8. The combat is REALLY fun, the story is good, the graphics are beautiful as is the music. The attention to detail is mind-boggling. And no matter your opinion on whether or not the game is bad, praise MUST be given to Naughty Dog for all the accessibility options. This hopefully will become a standard in AAA games going forward. The game could've gotten a higher score from me if it wasn't for the horrible pacing, all the walking around and opening drawers just to collect tape and half pairs of scissors. The huge environments aren't beneficial to your game if there's nothing interesting about them; no matter how good the graphics are. Also the over abundance of safes.

    Although many expected a different story, The Last of Us Part II delivers in every single aspect. Naughty Dog took a very bold decision, and executed it almost flawlessly. The actual gameplay itself will reel you in, but the story and the character development is what gets you hooked. Hats off to Naughty Dog, you've made another masterpiece and I can't wait to see what the future holds.

I read so much hate on this game. Hours of reviews, of videos, even of conversations with friends. But all of it is complete malarkey. This is a beautifully designed and written game. I am blown away at the pettiness people have towards such minuscule things that actually make the game so great! I understand that people have developed feelings towards certain characters based off the first(also amazing) game. And what happened in this game definitely shook me to my core. But when has a game done that for you?! When did a game challenge you and your complete way of thinking towards a situation? We are so focused on our own issues, our own thoughts that we can’t even see what is going on from another point of view. But this game does that. This game is firing on so many levels and showing people there is a story to both sides and literally puts you in their shoes. Also being completely diverse with its characters is just incredible. Even in an apocalyptic world people are going to be who they are. And raging mushroom headed monsters or scars or rattlers or anyone for that matter is going to change that. I wanted to write a review because I believe this game is so much more than just a game. I wanted to give it the justice it deserved. I am sorry that people are having issues with characters or story line or whatever it is but I just think their perception is slightly blinded by the hurt they may have felt.     You have to play all of it and go into this game with an open mind. Amazing storytelling, amazing character development and nothing we've ever emotionally experienced in gaming before. No-one said this would be a happy ending. It may not be the game most people wanted but it may just be the game we needed.

Despite all these, the gameplay was really good and AI was outstanding. A lot of effort was put into the details of graphics. I really started to feel what the different characters are going through, giving me an emotional carousel because they all have theire different point of views on the same topic.

Rather than continue the game from Ellie and Joel walking off in the sunset seeking shelter and a new life, it focuses on a homosexual relationship between Ellie and Dina after Dina has a fight with her BF and seeks refuge with Ellie. They also decided to kill off the main Protagonist, a seasoned survivor with a sharp eye and penchant to kill by a group of uncoordinated youth associated with the Fireflies. Joel gets beaten to a pulp in front of Ellie and she vows revenge on Abby, the Transexual ring leader.

    Ellie and naieve Dina go on this mission with a largely uninteresting dialogue and passive sexual innuendoes. Besides good graphics which are a given since the game was released years later, there's nothing else worth really appreciating here. If you found Left Behind lacking, this is worse.    … Expand

Yes he shouldn't have lied, but to basically throw the entire first game away because of that? Feels like that someone didnt like the fact the joel didnt let her die for the "greater good" and decided that he needs to be punished. Playing as the enemy and making ellie seem like the bad guy was fresh and fun to experience but not enough to make up for the stories short comings.     Para mim, o mais importante de um jogo é a história, portanto minha nota é 0 (zero mesmo). A empresa apenas tentou forçar a barra com temas que ela acha que são "fortes" e polêmicos. O jogo deixou bastante a desejar. Não perca seu tempo nem seu dinheiro com esse jogo.

    This game is made for offending gamers and try to use both capitalism and left-wing politics to manipulate gamers and gaming industry. I personally cannot bear with it. Sorry but 0/10.

    The music, the graphics, the story(yeah I know how people hate it but too me it's beautiful but with of course the disappointment of (spoiler) Joel's death)
    The way the stories of Abby and Ellie merge is amazing and the ending is a tear jerker. Definitely recommend this to everyone and don't listen to the haters, at least try for yourself.    … Expand

    The game was amazing from the moment I turned it on, to the moment it ended I was holding my breath and enjoying every little detail about it. don't know why the hate is here because it was an amazing game.

    Stick with the original and forget all about this.

    Yeah, cool graphics.... but that´s it. Me, I want my games politics and woke agenda free. We already have enough of this in the real world.

    Save your money for better games, don´t encourage companies like "Naughty Dog" that just want to pander to the woke crowd. Disgusting.

    Gameplay, music, environments, artwork 10/10. The story pacing was horrible I hated or didn’t care about several characters or what happened to them except two, and they felt like a side show. Very disappointed.

I actually expected Joel to be killed but the way they wrote it was stupid. The pacing of the story completely interrupts the game flow. Too many cut scenes that don't make the game feel important. And they are trying to manipulate the gamer's emotions in an amateurish way. Thumbs down. 22 hrs i will never get back.… Expand

    I don't think a "perfect" game will ever exist, but this is as close as a game could ever get!
    The vast environment, graphics, soundtrack, combat style and gameplay, the crafting, the story, the voice acting!!..
    Everything about this game is just top tier. I'm glad ND didn't go full "fan service" regarding the story, otherwise we could have had just a "mediocre" narration, and a    I don't think a "perfect" game will ever exist, but this is as close as a game could ever get!

    Everything about this game is just top tier.

    I'm glad ND didn't go full "fan service" regarding the story, otherwise we could have had just a "mediocre" narration, and a mediocre narration is truly the least thing you could say about this game honestly.

    This game sets a new bar in gaming in terms of narrative context, and while "gamers" are still complaining about how ND delivered the story, i'm sure that the majority of developers will try to reach and imitate what ND just did.

    And of course, this will easily be GOTY.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
