This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game surpasses most movies and novels with an uncompromising vision for the story it must tell. Naughty dog has crafted more than a game and simply reducing it to nothing more would be asinine. The Last of Us 2 skirts the line of moral ambiguity in the name of artistic expression and for that there are people that won’t appreciate what it tries to convey, hence the overwhelming negative reviews. If you enjoyed the first game you must ask yourself why. Why did you enjoy a game set in a post apocalyptic world hellbent on making survival for humans so difficult? The first game tells Joel’s story and within minutes rips your heart out of your chest forcing you to feel the way Joel does. While progressing through the game you meet Ellie and both characters establish a Father Daughter relationship that gets tested numerous times only to become stronger at the end. Joel does some heinous things in the name of love. Ellie witnessed all of it and the player at the end is left with a moral dilemma as to whether it was okay for Joel to betray the trust of the only person he cares about. The Last of Us 2 takes us on a journey about what it means to love and at what cost we do things that may go against our moral fiber. Let’s get this out of the way... Joel isn’t a hero. Ellie isn’t a hero. There are no heroes in this game. No good versus bad only people doing what they feel they must to survive. Who are we (the player) to decide what is right and wrong? The game forces you into an uncomfortable perspective many people will push against. It will evoke anger, frustration, sadness, happiness, despair and hope through many of the cleverly placed cutscenes throughout that make up the game’s narration. It begs to be played more than once and will gladly provide you with perspective “IF” you as a player keep an open mind to accept it for what it is rather than what it isn’t. This is not a love letter to fans. It’s not a happy game and will likely leave you with a gaping void right through the middle of you after it’s finished. The graphics are some of the best we’ve seen this generation. The sound is nothing but high quality from the effects to the sound of gunfire in the distance. Voice acting rivals that of Oscar performances in movies and the music fits perfectly. This is a game that is finely crafted and isn’t afraid to show you in the least what it’s capable of. Make no mistake, this isn’t just gaming at its finest. It’s nothing short of gaming nirvana and will undoubtedly leave you breathless if you’re willing to step into it’s world and play by it’s rules. This game just has such meh gameplay, why does it deserve a 95 for its mediocre gameplay and even outright self insert sex scenes from the director. I think this game does not even closely DESERVES a 95, at most a 70. Why kill off such an important character, like an hour into the game? Why cancel someone’s death, due to leaks? Why let the game leak at all? Completely ruined the one thing this game had going for it; the story. Awful game and Awful motives. Never returning again, EXCEPT to the store. Expand

Terrible story, same mechanics of the first one.already has some softlocking glitches, agenda pushing, insults to religion's, main and side characters die or become weak unlike the first, should've had us play as tommy instead of the person you let die a million times. Overall, the game is a great stealth-action experience with an interesting story. With the exception of a few too many gameplay segments where you're essentially just walking around and listening to dialogue, while throwing ropes to climb, The Last of Us Part II is a fantastic sequel to the original game.

Atirar no game é prazeroso.

Seriously: If you plan on playing The Last of Us II avoid spoilers! It will ruin this amazing experience for you. You still might not enjoy this sequel in the end, but this game derves an "open-minded" and unprejudiced approach.

(I'm not a native, so please excuse my English)

To begin with I want to thank Naughtydog for both The Last of Us and The Last of Us II as these games have touched me and made me tear up like no other game. I do not think that you deserve all this hate. You have put together an amazingly well crafted, detailed and emotional game. Now there is some valid critissism to this game, it is far from perfect (but than again what game isn't), which I will adress later. As I mentioned the The Last of Us series is extremly emotional so I really wasn't suprised that the sequel to one of the most beloved games turned out to be this controfersial and polarizing. This game will make you feel uncomfortable, this game will make you furious and this game might even make you grief but that's what makes it uniquely emotional (at least for me)! Don't get me started on homphobic and hateful comments, but fortunately this is only a (very loud) minortity. Nevertheless these comments have to be adressed and condemned!
Just to get this out of the way: I can 100 % understand if you did not enjoy the game, this is not a guaranteed 10/10 game. This game is extremly controversial, as your experience will largely depend on how you fell about Joel's death, you having to play as Abby and the character's "experimental" development. Will you get snapped out of the story and remain mad at the developers or will you be abel to lose yourself in the story anyways? Well to be honest whilst playing the game I sometimes also felt conflicted about the choices that were made. But ultimately I accepted the coices and had my most immersive gaming-expierence ever, which propably would have not been as easy if I hadn't avoided spoilers. So as I said I do respect if you didn't like the game, but at least give Naughtydog credit for the amazing production value and all the work that has been put into the game, it's not a 0/10 game.

But now let's get to the point. What did and didn't I like about the Last of Us II:
    (+) Emmersive world
    (+) Emotional and innovative story
"If I ever were to lose you, I'd surly lose myself"
After losing Joel Ellie was taken the chance of forgiving and making things right with Joel, which is not only extremly depressing from Ellie's point of view but also for the player himself. We immediately feel fury and anger arising, we want to do Joel justice by killing Abby. But as the story progresses we have to witness that the Ellie we learned to love is slowly alienating from herselve. She is on the verge of becoming another humanlike, murdering monster roaming the post-apocalyptic world. Once it was Ellie who reminded Joel of the beauty and innocence in the world now she is the one "descending into hell". Again and again do Ellie and Abby meet but Ellie never gets the chance of taking revenge. It isn't until the end that Ellie has Abby's life "hanging by a threat". But in that very moment her last moments with Joel came to her mind, moments not filled with hatred but with forgivness. Ellie lost loved ones, she abandoned family and home, she brought suffering into the world but she has not fully lost herself. A small part of her did not fall victim to her vengefulness, she did do Joe right in letting humaneness prevail over hatred.
The Last of Us II was a challenge indeed. Was I myselfe able to overcome my grief and forgive Abby? Lukily Yes. Do I understand it when people have a problem with this game? Absolutly! Did I expect this game? No! Did I want this game? No! Do I whish the Story had turned out differently? Yes! Do I wish Ellie had crawled back into bed with JJ and Dina? Of course! But was this the most emotional gaming-expierence I ever had? Most definitly!
    (+) Improved gameplay
    (+) Amazing graphics
I think this is something we can all agree upon. This game is simply gorgeous. Whether you're looking at snowy landscapes, rainy Seattle or Ellie's and Dina's fairytale-like farm it will leave you breathless.
    (+) Outsanding level-design
(+) The last of us is as charming as ever
Did anyone not have a big smile on his face whilst playing the Joel and Ellie flashbacks or as we first explored the streets of Jackson or as we realized Ellie and Dina had started a family together...?
    (+/-) Joe's death feels rushed
    (+/-) Sometimes feels emotionally manipulative
    (-) Too much looting
(-) Sometimes overdramatic and lessing subtle
In conclusion The Last of Us II is, in my opinion, a well crafted, extremly emotional and human, inperfect non the less, masterpiece. It left me crying, raging, griefing and blissfully smiling. Simply amazing!
    Thank you Naughtydog!

Sound Design: Every single detail related to sound in this game was nailed! From the breaking of glass, to the crunching of snow underfoot, to the gunfire in different environments, to the immaculately well-done voice acting, this game immerses you quickly with how well made the sound structure of each individual moment is. While the soundtrack was a bit lacking compared to the first game it still succeeded in driving home the emotionality of the story. Score: 9.25

Level Design: Much less linear than the first game, the moments in which you are in combat are done remarkably well. There are many more moments of tense gunfights both against the living as well as the dead compared to the first game, and these rarely feel stale thanks to the options when it comes to engaging your opponent, whether that be "guns blazing," stealth, or avoiding the enemy. Score: 10

Graphics: Best in the industry. That's it. That's the paragraph. Score: 10

Story: This is not what the average toxic fanboy wanted - a typical revenge story. Instead, this is a story with complex motives and reasonings as well as characters who each follow their own beliefs. As it is a sequel, it is difficult to flesh out the development for the characters like it would be in the original IP, however, Naughty Dog did well directing those moments in flashback sequences. Pacing is an area of the game that struggles. There are often moments where you may be overwhelmed with the slog of tasks to do as you struggle from place to place in Seattle - this is the game's weakest point, in my opinion, giving you multiple false endings before the satisfying real one. While the pacing was tough to overlook, the end made it all worth it. Score: 9

    Overall Score: 9.5

There were things I DID NOT LIKED about the ending. It leaves you kinda unsatisfied, This will sound a little dramatic, but they closed the story for this characters, that's right, all of them, I didn't mind they killed Joel, it was good and necessary for the arc they wanted to tell, but ripping off Ellie's fingers, we will never play as Ellie again, I'd love to see spin-offs with other characters but, Ellie is what's left of the face of The last of us, without her, making a part III, would not be as engaging, I get, Abby and Lev are the new main characters, but they can be in a Spin-off, I really don't think they deserve to replace Joel and Ellie. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I thought the gameplay was pretty good but the story not so much. The game is basically about abby and not ellie. I feel neil had a different story planned but allowed a Hollywood writer (Halley Gross) come in a muck it all up and change everything! I believe the story was originally going to be tommy that died and not joel. I say this because in the trailer joel meets up with ellie not Jesse and it seems joel and ellie would of went after Tommy's killers and that, in my opinion, would have been a better story. The writing isn't like Neil's writing in this game and it was all over the place which isn't how neil writes at all. Seems awful funny that neil has always written great storys and now all of a sudden halley was involved in writing the story and its complete garbage. I feel neil has sold his soul to Hollywood and now his writing will be generic trash because he won't have the freedom to do what he wants and will have to listen to corporate Hollywood. I hope these bad scores (mostly from the writing) wakes neil up and allows him to get back to what he does best! If there is a third one, please dont screw it up as well! Expand

Listen to the critics on this one. The game has a couple of flaws but those don't keep it from being an incredible experience. Some things in this game will disappoint you, that doesn't mean it is a disappointing game. There are moments where YOU, the player, will have to commit acts of violence that you REALLY do not want to carry out but the game MAKES you do it. They could have made these into cut scenes, but they didn't. The game intentionally makes you do it. Which will make you feel bad. Certainly doesn't mean the game itself is bad! That would be like saying the movie Schindler's List is bad because it made people sad and angry.

I actually played it. It's really good. And it's quite the heart breaker.

TLOU Part II and and "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice" are a good sign, that the industry is FINALLY moving towards more mature and complex themes (no, not just revenge) about broken characters in a broken world.

There will always be games that are... easy on the mind with a clear antagonist and where the player gets to be a force of good and I enjoy these games very much too. But I'm very fond of what Naughty Dog has done here and I hope they will continue to craft such compelling narratives and don't get discouraged by some very loud and vocal haters, who are hung up on their favorite characters not being AWESOME but instead being disappointing human beings.

Of course there will be people who simply don't like the game because they wanted another romp through the US with their favorite characters, which is not quite what will happen.... or they simply didn't enjoy the story and all that is fine. (see the mixed reviews) But it's quite clear that this game got review bombed by a lot of people who did not play the game and very likely aren't even old enough to be allowed to play this game and/or experienced enough to appreciate the themes it presents.

Thank you to everyone at Naughty Dog for making this incredible game, even if it was a serious downer most of the time.

    PS:
The shotgun in this game is incredible. It's the most satisfying and crunchy weapon I have ever wielded in any game, including EVERY Doom game, including the double barrel shotgun. They way it messes people (infected or not) up will make you giggle, no matter how many shooters you have played in your lifetime.

It's very bold and some choices surprised me, and I found myself sympathising with characters I wasn't expecting. The graphics are stunning (obviously) and gameplay is terrific and so immersive, much better than the first.
Overall, people are mostly butthurt one of their favourite characters didn't have a happy ending, but even though I was incredibly sad, it made me invest even more time in the story and the characters, and the journey was worth it. And I will do it all over again.

Masterpiece! Best graphics and sound design of any game. Environment design is incredible. The story takes you on an emotional rollercoaster and challenges you to ask questions of everything you thought you knew about these characters and the world. If you have been turned off by the leaks and review bombing do yourself justice and will experience it on your own.

But after 2 day i finally understand!
This is a story about humans!!! I know this is an weird thing to hear but think i little. In the whole story of videogames we can finally see all the story of the good (Ellie) and the bad guy(abby) with all their feelings.
Tlou's world is horrible and violent but there is also love. If you steal the the thing that a human loves most (like joel and abby's father) he/she want take his/her revenge, its obviously  because we are monkeys!,we follow our instinct and feelings first.
but if you know why your enemy have done this you star to ask your self if the real villain is you.
Now guys i want to talk about the ending.
If you are a kid and you want a good ending you can find it on comics and cartoons, because tlou 2 ending it was the most realistic one!
The ending is realistic because the protagonist's chooses have consequences and the Ellie's chooses was the most egotistical ones but their was the most human.

Im sorry if i have made some grammar mistakes but English is no my first language.

    Thanks for reading

Naughty Dog have done a great job of polarising players. Whatever your take on it, you can't deny the care and attention the team poured into this game. Like the devs said: part 1 is about love, part 2 is about hate. They're able to present a story using this medium that they couldn't in film, and that's fine by me.

I honestly don't understand the "lazy writing" or "political agenda" narratives. You're playing damaged individuals who are consumed by hate and vengeance. If your expectation is that you'll play a game with the same uplifting character development as the first game, you'll be sorely disappointed. The whole point is you're experiencing the descent into unadulterated hate above all else.

As for representation of LGBT and race: it's not forced into the story to tick the diversity box. It's a relationship. The last relationship Ellie might have, and how she balances that against the all consuming memories of her past. The fact that she's female is irrelevant.

ND told the story they wanted to tell. Love it or hate it, it's up to you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was done masterfully. The subtle movements and facial expressions characters make within each cutscene give clues as to what each character is feeling.
During the scene that divided fans, you could see Joel uncomfortable while Tommy was relaxed. You could see Abby's shock and disgust after she went through with the act that she had long awaited. Because she realized revenge doesn't fill any holes in your heart. Those that angry at the game chose to hate the game from that moment out. They never gave it a chance solely based on the fact that a main character died. The story being done in a non-linear fashion angered many, but just because one does not like it, doesn't mean its a bad story. The pacing with the non-linear story could have been done better, but overall it made the experience of Abby better.
The game did exactly what it sought out to do and that was make the audience feel. Overall, the graphics, gameplay mechanics, action sequences, and the attention to detail that the Naughty Dog team labored over pushed the level of games in 2020.

Now for people who haven't played the game or didn't see the ending yet then I warned you; Spoiler alert!!

I heard many comments of people saying that the story of the game wasn't really great or even trash. Some people said that the game is trash either because of Joel's death or because of a bad ending or I even heard a few people saying that they don't like that game because of Ellie being lgbtq and stuff.
I heard that some didn't even see the whole game and already don't like the game. Some even said not to buy the game...
Now I don't mean to attack the people who don't like the story or the game itself but I think that it's actually kinda sad that so many people hate the game already because of the story. But like myself of course everyone has their own opinion and everyone has the right to share their own opinion to the game with others.
The story is actually pretty intersting but also kinda sad because of stuff like Joel's death and Ellie being alone in the end. It's only realistic that people like Joel die one day because one way or another everyone dies one day. I can understand why Joel got killed, it's because he just had many enemies and the killed people to survive just like everyone else. And Abby in this case wanted to take revenge. After Joel's death Ellie wanted to take revenge on the people who killed Joel and that's completely understandable because I would probably do the same. I think that Ellie actually made the right decision to let Abby go in the end and if Ellie killed Abby then there's a possibility that Lev wants to take revenge on Ellie if he survived his injuries. In the world of the last of us it's really hard to trust someone because everyone has to fight to survive.
It's just sad that Ellie was completely alone in the end especially to think that in the first part of the last of us she said that she was afraid to end up alone one day.

The graphics of the game itself were perfect. It even had so many little beautiful details that made the game so realistic. It's just amazing.

Stuff like the health bar or listen mode were actually a little better in the first game of the last of us. The health bar was better in the first game because it was easier to see how much health you have left and the listen mode was also better because you could see a little better which way your opponent was facing.

So in my opinion the game was just really beautfiul and realistic.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Oh man, where to begin? Neil, what the actual f* were you thinking? Why write a revenge story if you're not going to serve up some cold revenge at the end. So let me get this right, its ok for hundreds of other soldiers/cult members to die in pursuit of Joel's killer, but when it comes down to finally killing Abby she grows a conscience? What were they thinking? Did they honestly expect everyone to be cool with that ending?
When I started playing this game initially I remember telling my friends that I don't get what has people so upset about this game. I did a good job of avoiding spoilers prior to playing it. I was jokingly telling my friends that literally the ONLY thing that could potentially turn me against this game is if they try to turn it into a morality lesson of "revenge bad, durrr".
Then halfway through the game you suddenly switch to Abby and I thought this has to be a joke right? Did these devs honestly expect people to be cool with playing Joel's torturer/murderer? Did they honestly expect a little backstory and context to make me NOT want to kill her. She could be a freaking saint that saves a whole boat full of puppies and I'd still want her to suffer and die. You can't just open with her horribly killing Joel, who everyone had a strong emotional connection to and people have been reminiscing about for seven years leading up to this. Everyone was exited to finally catch up with Joel and Ellie after all these years, only to have Joel get snuffed in the first couple hours. Now, I would be ok with this as it really sets up the players boundless hatred towards Abby. I thought it was an effective way of making you feel Ellie's rage and lust for vengeance. But this needed the payoff of enacting that vengeance in the end. This game gave me the catharsis equivalent of blue balls.
I even thought the game pulled a fast one on me when Ellie and Dina retire to the countryside and everything is super idyllic, which lead me to believe that Ellie would drop the quest for revenge in favor of love. Then when she decides to set out to finish what she started I cheered! "Sneaky game, making me believe we wouldn't get that satisfying conclusion" I thought. Well played! I honestly unlike many others wasn't seriously mad at this game until the very end. Death by a thousand cuts and drowning seemed like a pretty cathartic way of ending Abby. Then....nah...actually revenge is bad and sorry to all those people that had to die for me to get to you Abby, but oh well. Byeeeeee!
If my fiancee hadn't been asleep next to me on the couch I would have let out an agonized scream at that point.
My question is, did Neil Druckmann honestly think people would be on board with this? Was he surrounded by yes men during the whole production? Did't anyone take him aside to say "hey Neil, I don't think this is such a great idea. Might piss off a lot of people and effectively Last Jedi our franchise into the ground." But I guess nobody dared to speak up and we ended up with this train wreck.
Honestly, I don't think a game has ever affected me in such a negative way. I have been feeling this ball in the pit of my stomach, feeling depressed and angry for the last few days now. Wishing I'd skipped this one now.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. tlou2 is clearly a visually stunning game with excellent world design. gameplay is what i expected from naughty dog (uncharted 3: undead nightmare). it feels more like an interactive movie than a video game, but tlou1 was already like this - just less lol

it's obvious the reviews are being bombed by people who can't see past their emotional attachment to joel's character and have determined that killing an important character equates to bad writing. in my opinion, joel's story had been completed in tlou1, and it felt natural to have his death play a role in the second game (this is an opinion i held months before this game came out. seriously, it's a trope - if you weren't expecting his death then you're just blatantly ignorant to, like, all literature ever. mentors and parental figures die). also, it's not like he's not in the video game. you get to interact with him plenty during the flashbacks.

p.s. we've already known for years that ellie is gay get over it, and if you're mad that abby is beefy it's just because she could beat you up and you're insecure

i'm disappointed with the ending, i feel that it was cut pretty short, but i guess that just means we all get to wait another few years to see what happens next since it's obviously not over. it also doesn't really feel like ellie learned anything. yea, she lets abby go but we're not really given a reason why she would after everything she went through and everyone that suffered because of her pointless revenge mission. i mean what's even the point of having the scene of tommy begging her to finish it if she's just gonna flake again? we get that little flash of joel playing guitar on the porch but if that's supposed to be her thinking that joel wouldn't want this or something, she's wrong joel totally would've wanted her to bash abby's skull in. he'd probably kill lev too

i genuinely enjoyed abby's story more than ellie's story. it was awesome to come out of this empathizing with abby and seeing what a survivor she is. plus after having to fight ellie so many times i've got a bit of a grudge over how dirty she fights. i mean seriously, who uses a knife on an emaciated woman you just cut off of what was essentially a crucifix in your epic fight to the death??

i think it was a really good, fresh change to have abby - who we are supposed to identify as the main villain, become a playable character. abby's reason for going after joel is just as valid as ellie's reason to go after her. we get to see that the villain has just as many loved ones and things to live for as our protagonist. we get to see our protagonist cast in a different light, showing her as a ruthless and constant threat - seriously, abby let ellie go and ellie slaughtered most of abby's friends in cold-blood.

i'm a big fan of the rat king, it was cool to go to a ground zero. shamblers are eh. was hoping for more developments in the infection or at least more information regarding the infected. combat with infected felt way easier than the last game, and the combat with other people was just the same boring gunfight/sneaking session over and over again.

and if there are any angry gamers reading this, prepare yourself for the next game because i'm pretty sure ellie's gonna die in that one. you can't just rate a video game 0 because you're mad at it

Story-wise there where some fantastic and moving moments, yet also moments where the pacing felt off (story has unusual structure and some bits of the game where nice but could have been left out) or characters decisions didn't feel as though they completely added up from what we knew about them (but aren't too unreasonable and they do have to make a story) plus characters didn't have the same level of chemistry between them that made the 1st game so great. They made a compelling story / narrative about the nature of revenge, characters where able to break out of the cycle though it took a great personal toll on them. I like how these games have used the all too familiar zombie apocalypse setting in a unique way for character based stories, that shine a light on human nature (but not just in the sort of way that only shows how messed up things can get), yet aren't always out for a happy ending. I applaud the devs for being brave and creative and not playing it safe, could have been more polished but keeps it interesting definitely.
In regards to game-play again moments where I was on the edge of my seat, and a well balanced degree of challenge for each difficulty (at least from what I've heard and what I'd expect from normal difficulty), the few boss fights where all really enjoyable, great graphics, sound and decent AI; then times when the world felt big but not interesting enough to want to always explore it, looting felt mandatory as supplies are short, which makes sense but isn't always that fun (it takes ages) but you have to do it for the small chance you find a new weapon to use. Similarly levels where perhaps a little too big, I liked the more open feel but bigger doesn't necessarily equal better. Also they could have added more features to it, plays like the 1st game as there is only 1 type of new zombie and only really the addition of dogs added to the stealth / human fights, on the other hand I liked the combat in the 1st game and wouldn't call it bad just a missed opportunity to do more.
As for the problems others have had, I'll briefly discuss them here. I still found Abby a well written character and her half of the game is still compelling to play, her character arc may even be the better one, people weren't too accepting of a new character/ group but I didn't mind too much. Killing characters in a thought out way shouldn't be a problem especially when the whole idea of the game revolves around it. Killing dogs in a video game when they are trying to kill you also should be fine. They do push a bit of a SJW agenda, for most the game I was fine with it as they didn't break the 4th wall to give a message to the player it was just trying to normalise, gay relationships and buff women (which makes even more sense for one that fights so much), the kids gender preferences where harder to believe, but there is nothing wrong with it, just at this point it felt too coincidental to have all these things together and it took me out of my immersion as it felt the game was pushing something, this can be included but it annoys me when media goes out of its way to spread the message it takes away from the story telling when it is too apparent in my opinion. It also felt a bit unrealistic the girls fell so deeply in love so quickly, but they had known each other a long time perhaps some tweaking would have made it more believable.
As for the reviews on this site: the reviews that give 0-3 out of ten some an hour or so after release are probably from people who care too much and are honing in on anything bad to say. Those that are giving 10's are perhaps tying to balance out the overall score personally I think the reality is somewhere in between. Critic reviews also seem unusually high, if its that they need to write good reviews to get invited back, then this is a shame and would explain why they are so far out from what the community is saying.
TLDR / conclusion: the hype around this game wasn't met up to but I think we had insane expectations too. The game is good and if you where like me a big fan of the original and interested in what happens next then I'd recommended; otherwise it's up to you its no masterpiece but still a decent triple A game which also feels unique, both of which are more of a rarity for games these days so for that it's worth considering if you want something to play for 20-30 hours, and are okay with the price tag (but that is a different debate). For those unsure still playing I'd recommended finishing it as I felt the same near the middle of the game but it does pick up and I was satisfied with the ending but get why others may not be. As a final note this game is violent and dark at times due to the setting and themes it has, if that isn't for you this may not be your cup of tea.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted to play as Joel or Ellie, not someone like Abby that I don't really care for. You are forced to beat Ellie and watch Joel die? Shows how the writer hated these characters from the first game. The story is so forced and the politics is so obvious. The game play is similar to the first game with some improvements but I think giving so much options in the settings is confusing. It made me ask continuously throughout the entire game what the best settings are. I did not play the game for the graphics. I wanted to know what happened to Joel's and Ellie's story after the first game. Players ARE NOT GIVEN OPTIONS to get at least some branching story arcs. It felt like a very very bad movie to me. The game was worth every penny. A continuation that lives up to it. Of course, we were sad for Joel, but the whole of the work itself makes us reflect a lot. Gameplay a lot, graphics too. A game that will be scored.

Do not waste time playing this, as it's really a been there done there kind of game. One of the most boring game ever. The budget was spent on marketing sadly not on the quality of the game. Totally not fun and not satisfying.

I finished playing TLOU-2 for the first time 10 minutes ago; I have had to move "IT" from first place down to a respectful second place. Frankly the story was magnificently told: not just in terms of the key cinematics, but how every enemy encounter, minor NPC interaction and the narrative structure created something so... whole.

Words do not do this game justice, you may disagree with some of the choices made by the game, but it is a masterclass in how to tell a story. For me, TLOU-2 (like its predecessor once was) is THE defining example of how games can be art.

I hope you enjoy it as much, if not more than I did.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

But when it comes to characters and story, then the game falls to average, TLOU 1 took a very common and cliche story but executed it with perfection, the characters where believable, and even if the games was a little predictable, it was so well tough that it was worth it. TLOU 2 takes the same route, a story old as ever, counted thousands of times, the classic tale of vengeance, and how it leads to bad things, the problem is that it doesn't do that in any new way, and it doesn't do it in a awesome way, it's the same as that film that you watch and maybe have fun, but it doesn't stick on your mind, it's fun while you're at it, and is just that, a game with awesome soundtracks and graphics, a good gameplay, and a average to Ok story with a feel very good characters (that are mainly from the first game)
If you're thinking of buying it, I would recommend waiting for a promo, since it don't have that much replayability, or if you want to play it because of the story, maybe think if you want to pay for it or just watch some series on youtube

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have always been a huge fan of Naughty Dog and The Last of Us series. When this game released I was disheartened to hear it was getting such negative reviews. I held off on buying the game until I had the first death spoiled by a livestream (I knew what I was getting into and had wanted to watch a bit, since I hadn't planned on buying it).

In tears I immediately purchased the game. And what a game. The gameplay is the most smooth, character driven, seamless gameplay I have ever experienced. It is intuitive and immerses you in the story and world. This game puts you into a world of fight or flight, forcing you to pick sides and discover things you didn't know about yourself. The game forces you to walk in the shoes of two people who you love or hate. The game shows you their lives and let's you make your own decision about them. The game is so good at this, in fact, that it got negative reviews from a few leaks of the story before it was released.

If you have been aprehensive about picking the game up as I was, I reccomend you dive in. You won't regret it.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
