    Masterpiece. The graphics, the story (even if I would have like 1 or 2 things to turn out differently..) are amazing. I enjoyed every single minute of the game.

    Story & characters are fantastic. It wasn't the fanfic wet dream that the complainers wanted (btw this is the same grouped that would have complained about Vader being Luke's father and Leah being his sister). It challenged you as the player. It put you in different people's shoes. It left you asking more questions than answers.     I was so caught off guard by the initial controversy of this game that it left me wondering if I was about to feel buyers remorse. I can safely say that is not the case. In my opinion, The Last Of Us Part 2 is a great game with so much creativity poured into it. Gameplay and visuals are of course phenomenal, but it's the story that has people torn. I can safely say that is not the case. In my opinion, The Last Of Us Part 2 is a great game with so much creativity poured into it. Gameplay and visuals are of course phenomenal, but it's the story that has people torn. While, I will admit there are some definite flaws within the narrative, for the most part I found this story to feel insanely daring. While it doesn't surpass the original, I admire the risks it took and I felt most of them paid off. You could honestly argue that any of the main protagonists is right or wrong in how they think and you wouldn't be exactly wrong. This isn't a "good vs evil" type of story, but rather a bold narrative with characters that feel so human. There are some pacing issues for sure, but I find this game to be very entertaining. Not everyone will agree and I understand. But that is just my viewpoint of the game.… Expand

    Graphics were amazing which is why I rated as high as I did. Plot left a lot to be desired with returning characters making unrealistic decisions. New character relationships appear to be forced on you with seemingly artificial scenarios to try to garner sympathy. Ending seems pointless and made me question why I even wasted my time playing this game.

    I think this game has one of the best stories that I have seen in video games and movies. The gameplay is also pretty good, the camera controls can get annoying for some of the boss fights but not so much that would take away from the gameplay.

It's not easy to love this brutal and complicated revenge story when you're comparing it to the more endearing and hope-chasing first game, but I'm glad I was able to enjoy this whole game spoiler-free. So many people tried to tell me that the writing was bad and new characters are awful and it's simply not true. Think of it as more ofReally gorgeous game with some bold narrative choices.     This game was deep and rich in story. the supporting casts made the game more powerful and how everyone of them had a chimed in how the two girls developed. the ending was satisfying and left it open for the next installment. for the people giving it a bad review couldnt handle the game they thought it would be.

    Dont follow the internet!!! Because this game is truly a masterpiece. I know certain decisions which were taken by the game may upset the gamers ( Even for me for a while). But believe me once you complete this game you ll feel so emotional and cry over the cinematics which the game offers you.

Returning characters are being basically abused to push far left propaganda. None of it makes any sense. The entire premise of the first game has been thrown down the drain in favor of nonsense. The ending is arguably one of the worst and most unsatisfying in video game history.

    In terms of gameplay, The Last of Us Part II is mediocre at best. The entire loop of stealth, knife kills and looting becomes dull and repetitive very quickly. Not to mention the annoying quick times events. The first game wasn't a revelation in the gameplay department, but the captivating story was the major driving force to push forward. This is not the case anymore.

    Overall, The Last of Us Part II is a prime example for the definition of "style over substance". A huge disappointment.    … Expand

To my interpretation, people that didn't get the ending of this one didn't understand or completely idealize the ending of part 1 which of course would result in them completely unsatisfied with the sequel. The amount of symbolism & catharsis that you get as a spectator along with Ellie by the end is one of the most dynamic & fulfillingThe end of this journey is catharsis at its finest. To my interpretation, people that didn't get the ending of this one didn't understand or completely idealize the ending of part 1 which of course would result in them completely unsatisfied with the sequel. The amount of symbolism & catharsis that you get as a spectator along with Ellie by the end is one of the most dynamic & fulfilling interactions I've ever had the pleasure to experience within this character-spectator bond. Whether you loved or completely disliked the game, something undeniable is how the story will linger on your mind for the better or for worse which will continue to make it a game that gives a lot to talk about for the years ahead, that in itself makes it once again the game of the generation, not to mention how it arrives at the most fitting time ever however this is a factor that will result in both its blessing & its curse since its final message revolves around mental peace something that many people throughout 2020 have struggled to connect with the most.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly I want to love this game and I'm forcing the playthrough but I just don't. The content is there but the sequencing is so messy. I appreciate what the aim was with the chronology and I'm deffinetely behind increasing positive lgbt representation, but the messy order of things doesn't invest me in the characters enough. It's like having the punchline prior to a joke, it just doesn't land and its just such a crying shame. I feel a lot of the game I'm just rushing through with all these new characters forced upon me to get back to the point I can progress the story again. As time went on I did get slightly behind Abby but I never really connected or sympathised with her and can't get over the fact I may have been a lot more open to her if her plot came first and it was advertised as her being the lead with Joel and Ellie being a surprise twist for the end rather than a tease. Imagine having that devastating moment once you had already bonded with Abby through her and Levs plot rather than trying so obviously to get you to change your mind after making you despise her. I feel that would've been a much more tense inner conflict if we'd gone through her journey only to realise we'd brought her to that moment, not realising her back story or goals and be torn between 2 characters we knew and loved as we suddenly realise who she is. Its almost like part 2 and 3 were both made simultaneously and mashed together. By no means is it garbage there's a lot of class voice acting and visuals here, but given the wait I feel its evident from the fan base a lot more vetting was required. The gameplay really hasn't had any major upgrades from number 1 and I'm surprised so many critics are ignoring this. The combat gets stale very quickly especially if you played through no 1 prior to recap and I honestly don't see how people say its been upgraded or improved dramatically given the time spent developing it. I will still buy and support naughty dog games and it is their vision and creative drive which 9/10 times blows me away, but this is a bit of a failed experiment and what could've been amazing is made quite frankly boring and mediocre by rehashed mechanics and a creative yet misguided narrative… Expand

Relationships between characters seem disingenuous and central characters are remarkably capricious: swaying from one extreme emotion to another. I was disappointed by the representation of LGBTQ+ individuals... particularly Dina and Ellie's relationship, which felt unbelievable and completely devoid of chemistry. It felt like ND were exploiting LGBTQ+ characters as selling points, rather than creating rich and genuine-feeling LGBTQ+ characters. Mostly, though, the story was just cripplingly disappointing for me. Even before the 'twist' part-way through the game, I had largely lost interest.     I will not talk about the plot, some like it, some don't. For me personally, the pluses outweighed all the minuses, and the pluses, of course, are Ellie-Joel's scenes.
    The ending is simply heartbreaking. And very grown up. And very, very sad. But I did not see anything illogical in this. It seems to me that everything is on the case. Everybody lost!
    Except for the players, of course))

    Thoroughly enjoyed this game from start to finish. Have played through it twice and thought the story, characters, gameplay and overall experience were great. I truly think this game is on par with the first and will be considered a masterpiece when people look back at it in the future .

The notably wide variety of interpretations, controversy and opinions is telling of that. This is not a clean cut plotline with a twist here or there. There are so many layers and depth to all of the characters and the fact that they tied it all together so well is incredible.

    The complete reversal of Abby and seeing her develop as a character took me entirely by surprise. I definitely plan to play through in its entirety to draw in everything I can. Highly recommend.    … Expand

    The game is not for everyone, you need a level of maturity in order to understand it and also try to be open minded during the entire gameplay if you want to have the experience that this game wants to give you. One thing that I can guarantee you is that this game is not about revenge, but about consequences. Try to accept that all characters are human, the game will constantly remind you that.

    A whole lot of questions, but there's no room for questions in the human eye, and a great piece of work is enough to see the sparkle, the highlight. You can ignore a lot of issues. If a player's vote now can contribute to what kind of game they will play later, then I have to give TLOU2 full marks for I want to play more of these games, not the stereotypical, gamer-pleasing generic commercial 3A.

I wouldn’t mind if the main character dies but make it iconic and poetry. Also, the pacing on playing two characters wasn’t great. Playing as Abby was a dragged and I was just speed running the levels with her cause I wanted to go back to Ellie and finish the game. They should had use Abby gameplay as a DLC and have Joel and Ellie in one epic adventure together.… Expand

    What a game , it has some seriously wtf moments , but Naughty dog studies made a master piece, love or hate the ending , the game takes u to a journey like no other, thank you for creating this marvelous game ! It looks like a tremendous amount of time and effort was invested to develop it, I enjoy my 28 hours playing the whole story :) might even do the + run.

Desde mi punto de vista, es lamentable que un juego como este, que sorprende a nivel técnico, a nivel de narrativa, que rompe las reglas, porque da puntos de vista diferentes sobre un mismo hecho, como sucedería en la vida normal, mostrando que no hay negro o blanco, en general, hay grises, y de hecho, le guste a quien le guste, le dan al juego ese realismo que tanto aprecié, tenga la nota que tiene. Entiendo que Joel se merecía una muerte más "digna" podríamos decir, pero también entiendo que actuó casi como un padre, de hecho, el padre de Abby no puede responder cuando le preguntan que haría si fuera su hija la que había que sacrificar. Pero con Ellie si estaba dispuesto a sacrificarla. Es Abby mala? No, de hecho es una más bien buena persona. Son Joel y Ellie malos? Tampoco. Son gente que esta sobreviviendo, con sus cosas buenas y sus cosas malas. Todos. Podría resumirse en que el juego peca de realista, y eso a muchos no les gustó, pero bueno si quieren finales felices les recomiendo peliculas de Disney, la vida es diferente, y este juego me hizo sentir cosas que pocos habían logrado, como por ejemplo el metro exodus otro excelente juego. En fin, detesto las malas notas que le pusieron por puro hate sin jugarlo porque se pierden una joya. Y al que no le gusto en serio, realmente creo que, o no entendio el concepto, o es de los que quieren finales felices a toda costa que bueno, tampoco esta mal. The gameplay is easy to pick up, and the beautiful environments are expansive and fun to explore. On the downside, incessant flashbacks and over-indulgent world-building severely slow down the narrative, and the game is, unfortunately, too damn long.     I cannot even describe how much I am disappointed by this game. Graphics are excellent but the story has no soul, no meaning. I loved the first one but this one left me empty. Ellie's character arc is horrible. I give a 6 just for the incredible graphics and animations.

Second: If you expected a "zombie" game or a terror game, you will be disappointed. Observe the rating of specialized critics and the users, so different, and why? Because The Last of Us part II is not a game for all.

    I have played the first The last of Us on PS3 and I wanted to replay it on PS4 before Playing Part 2, I loved the first TLOU and the DLC left behind is a short but meaningful story, I finished my second playthrough of the first game the day before i started playing part 2 and I was glad I did that. Many dialogues can be missed if you haven't played the first like when Ellie tells that they once met a guy called Bill who used to plant bombs all over his town or when she was captured by people who used to eat their victims. Great acting and the story isn't obvious, never felt to know how it would go on. The game makes you feel many emotions and makes you even stop playing it because you don't want carry on, you don't agree with what is happening but this is the beauty of this game, within hours or minutes it makes you feel opposite emotions and makes you hate yourself for hating certain characters only because you didn't agree with them because of the lack of understanding and knowledge of their background and motivations. I loved the story but what I loved most was that this game brought up so many emotions, not all positives but also negatives, that i can't say many games are able to do so. Part 2 goes deeper in the story and gets better gameplay to the point that the first TLOU looks like a demo, just a taste of what ND wanted to tell and show with this games.… Expand

And if you're like me, someone who doesn't really care that much about such things, you're still going to enjoy it a great amount, because this is simply a great game with an enormous budget and a lot of talent behind it.

I am a huge TLoU fan, so between trying to dodge spoilers and hearing snippets of the controversy, I was nervous about what awaited me. Having finished the    Don't listen to the March of the Man-Babies... it's a masterpiece, despite some narrative flaws and divisive risk-taking.

    It took me a while to post the review, as I didn't want to do so without actually playing it first (shocker). I am a huge TLoU fan, so between trying to dodge spoilers and hearing snippets of the controversy, I was nervous about what awaited me. Having finished the game, I personally find the review-bashing to be a vast overreaction from a mixture of immature, entitled superfans and garden variety homophobes, neither of which are worth your time and attention.

    Here's my attempt at a calmer response:

    The two biggest criticisms I heard about this game is that it was comparable to the Skywalker Trilogy/Game of Thrones (underdeveloped and disrespectful to character arcs) or that it's pushing some kind of extreme SJW agenda. Neither is true.

    To the first point, I would compare it to what the final season of GoT would have been if they kept the controversial character decisions, but actually spent the time and attention necessary to flesh them out. People will still be mad at seeing a character not act the way they wished, but it was well-supported thematically. In particular, I find the anger regarding the ending to be downright puzzling, as it is the natural conclusion to motifs the story had been hitting you over the head with since the first act. I do agree that some characters' final decisions could have proved more nuanced if supported by an additional plot device or few lines of dialogues, but the environmental storytelling did a good enough job of explaining why the characters did what they did. As I tell my lit students when they read Invisible Man... you don't have to approve of a character's decisions to appreciate the author's intent.

    As for the SJW claim, this game is a great example of why the LGBT community just can't win in the world of narrative depiction. The extent of the "pushy" nature of these characters is that they exist. Yes, there is a lesbian and a bisexual character. They are in a relationship. That relationship impacts character motivations and development throughout the game... you know, like every straight character since the bloody Gilgamesh.

    There is also a transgender character. He commits the terrible internet crime of telling the protagonist that he's transgender once. It's why he's being persecuted by his people, and he doesn't like to talk about it much. Other than that, he's just a character. Oh, and the far-left decided to join the mob because he is dead-named against his will... kind of like transgender people are all the time. So he gets to be a lightning rod of controversy because he is openly trans but not openly trans enough, but also too openly trans, but also too tragic, but also daring to acknowledge tragedies that people like him face every day. And did I mention that he exists? Shame.

    Preachiness aside, there are some easily identifiable highs and lows. The action is smooth, the voice acting is phenomenal, there are some absolutely gang-buster character-building scenes (shout out to the museum sequence), they did a great job of world-building a city despite the game's linearity (a la FFVII remake), there's a nice mix of horror and peacefulness, and you can pet the doggo.

    A lot of the criticisms people bring up are quite legitimate... it's just ridiculous to think that they merit 0-bombing the metascore. For instance, pretty much everyone agrees that the pacing is a problem, particularly in regards to their treatment of the protagonist/antagonist dichotomy... it switches PoV at an awkward time, and should have mixed the narratives more consistently in order to avoid the cognitive dissonance given when the game tries to make you sympathize with the "villain." Likewise, most people agree they failed to actually make you sympathize with the "villain" because of an underdeveloped backstory/tragedy and an underdeveloped impetus for their later attempts to blur the hero/villain line. It also makes you do actions against people you have grown to love, which is uncomfortable to say the least (though at least interesting/unique as a mechanic aligned with the central themes). Plus, it makes you kill the doggo. Boo.

    But you don't actually have to like the villain to appreciate the plot... it's enough to show that heroes and villains are imperfect, both have their own PoV, and the apocalypse isn't allowed a Marvel-esque good/evil dichotomy. You can definitely hate the villain at the end... it's still narratively effective.

    My final thought about the flaws in this game is that they are vastly outshined by its moments of brilliance. To say they earn it a 0 would be comparable to saying Breath of the Wild deserves a 0 and a series cancellation because no one likes weapon durability. Bull-honky. The game is fun, well-developed, and at least has the cajones to take risks... like them or not.    … Expand

Independent of time, this game will make you feel what it is like to be a human being struggling to survive a (much more severe) pandemic, and does so without pandering to the age-old game narrative of "good" vs "bad. Towards the end, I felt like **** and wanted the game to end a few hours earlier. But I'm not even mad - IIn retrospect, I enjoyed the grueling last few hours.

    My only complaints are that the game mechanic of searching every corner of the level after killing everyone somewhat breaks the pace, and at times it is incredibly frustrating to be searching for a safe code and accidentally go past that level's point of no return, causing you to save before every door out of fear of having to redo the chapter. These both break the immersion, but not enough to remove more than 1 point from my score.

    There is also the occasional bug (e.g. reloading levels changes items, and sometimes I was shot into space or stuck in walls). No big deal.

    Do yourself a favor and play this game and explore the way you feel while doing it. Even if you are upset about certain beats in the story. It is only a story, and if you pay attention, it takes you to interesting places.    … Expand

    Incredible game. Just finished after playing for over 25h becuase I wanted to take my time and try to get as many collectibles as possible. The Character development and main story were amazing. I still dont get why so much hate on the game. One of the best games Ive ever played.

    A masterpiece. The immersion in history is brutal. All the details are very careful, spectacular Graphics. The gameplay is good but not the best, sure it will be fixed in some patch. If you really like video games, you will love it in every way.

So the last of us was a masterpiece on the PlayStation 3, so just like Terminator two, any sequel will fall short in comparison, but this game exceeded my worst expectations, the gameplay and graphics were incredible, however the story was atrocious, this was obviously a politically motivated video game and it was distracting from within the first hour of gameplay all the way until the end, it honestly turned me off of the game to the point were I didn’t even care about the story, and just rushed all the way through sothat I can finish the game, they couldn’t have done a better job at making it this uninteresting, I feel that this game was a direct job at any true fan of the franchise only to appease the SJW community… Expand

Но она хороша по своему, лгбт повестка не напрягает вообще, она как бы на фоне.     Incredible game in every aspect ! I think that history is powerful. Amazing narration. And what about graphics. I can’t wait to play once again.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
