    One of the weakest stories in gaming ever. Characters are literally unlikable and make no sense. The story just isn’t good and it tries too hard to make you feel sorry for people that you immediately don’t want to feel sorry for. And the ending tries so hard to make you feel sad, without making any logical sense.

    The plot of this game and new characters is just ultimately disgusting. Its actually not the sequel of masterpiece, I will never admit this trash as sequel.

    Cruelty of scene with ... is mind breaking. Director, burn in hell please.
    p.s Most of high score reviews is bought by naughty dog, deal with it.

    Last of Us 2 is not a **** game, the Grafic, Animation looks fantastic, but the Story is to long and awful, because the game deconstructing your memory of the first game. Try it yourself when the game cost lower than 30 bucks and get your own opinion and both camps shouldn't hate the other.

    a rehash, at the narrative level it does not reach the shoes of the previous one, the ending is anticlimactic and totally xD, the stupid death of jhoel is xD and the gameplay is the same after 7 years.

    Absolutely loved the first one and had such high hopes for the sequel. As much as I truly enjoyed it, there were some very large deficiencies in the layout and logistics of the story and gameplay that just felt forced. I hope they take the reviews into consideration when making the next sequel.

    Positive things first, the gameplay is similar to the first part, they even improved the gameplay by alot. Sneaking around enemies is way more fun and the fight system has also been upgraded.

Graphics and sound are top notch but there are certain elements in this game that destroy everything good it has and I really can not recommend it at all. This is a well deserved 0/10.     overall it could have a much better story and could have gone in a better direction but the last of us part 2 is a masterpiece which totally deserved GOTY 2020 a very few companies in the world can make games as great as naughty dog games.

    It's the Last Of Us...you can't go wrong with that if you want to jump in one of the best horror experience ever this is for you!
    The original game was good but this is even better, good thing that Naughty Dog made this even with the pandemic, they made hard work for this, with good graphic and cool soundtrack this games is awesome

    Frankly, one of the best games I have ever had the pleasure of playing. I can understand *some* of the criticism, but it feels like a lot of it has been overshadowed by reactionaries painting a harrowing story of women driving their families away with the pursuit of revenge at all costs for an ultimately holllow victory as a "pro-woke" power trip.

As a standalone game, it's just barely average. But the story as a sequel makes absolutely no sense. Characters are regressed to the point of just wtf moments. It's clear that the writers just wanted it to be a Walking Dead clone with how they portrayed everyone. They completely disregard the fact that there are terrifying echolocating cordyceps zombies running amok. They are kind of just a side-note, even though it's what made the first game so scary. They make you love Joel in the first game, noting how distrusting he is, and then completely change his personality and make him look like a little b**** for the sake of crappy storytelling. And you can't even get revenge at the end of the game. Just an absolute failure. Wish I could get that wasted time back.… Expand

Haunting, lasting, this will affect your dreams. No doubt influenced by Druckman's time in Israel with the Israel-Palestinian conflict, this is a story about war and redemption. About endless lost, for no reason. The meaninglessness of war. That nothing is resolved but death. And at the end, all you have to show for it is that you are missing your fingers.

    This is an experience that shows what is possible with this new medium of art called the videogame.

    This is an experience of living with war unlike any other art I have seen. "All quiet on the Western Front," "Apolyspye Now", "Catch 22" - nothing I have experienced captures truly the horror of the depth of human civilization to inflict suffering on the "other." This game is about experiencing the "other" - learning how to emphasize with a person you literally hate with a passion. By the end of the game, you are more loyal to her. The ending is brutal as you are forced to try to kill her. But thankfully at the end you can't.

    This is a bold intense game. It's a blockbuster film that has the power to transform. These are serious, serious risks taken by the developers, and the trust Sony had with the process is outstanding.

    Can you imagine if in Star Wars you not only get to watch everything from the Empire's perspective, but also start to like the Empire more than the rebels.

    Now the game itself isn't perfect. It drags on too long. The final chapter in Santa Barbara is superflosous. There is no reason for it. It can resolve with the fight with Abby and Ellie that Dina and Lev end.

    But it continues, to try to further drive home this part.

    But does it matter? No, too much power outweighs any criticism.

    Also the game mechanics are top notch. The enemy AI is brilliant. Strategy is fascinating. To go stealth, then to have to break it, then to attempt again.

    The scene with the war on the island is breathtaking.

    God I hope more games will go in this direction. That will take risk, not be safe.    … Expand

    Thats why when I hit half the game and it forced me to play as the antagonist I was so angry. Here I am upgrading my gear etc hating the antagonist and now I have to play as her. No. I actually deleted the game and gave up on it.

    Fast forward to today almost 2 years later, decided to continue where I left off and boy was I happy I did. After I got over the fact that now I have to play with this character and seeing how the story plays out, why things happen as they do and how events are from different perspectives…. This game is a masterpiece. The story is AMAZING. My advice is stick with it.    … Expand

Unfortunately, this game has one of the worst stories that I have seen in a video game, where they kill off any potential. Joel dies, and they have an unnecessary sex scene in the game for no reason other than run time and "plot progression". The game play outside of the story is okay, but sometimes it feels like a walking simulator, but the guns feel good and the vibrations from the controller feel realistic when I do an action. The graphics are amazing for a PlayStation 4 game and it runs smoothly, which is already an edge over other certain games. If they had multiplayer on launch or in a day 1 patch the game would feel better, but the only thing on the multiplayer is rumors any it was a separate game and not part of the original. Overall, it killed itself at launch.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After all the leaks and negative reviews about the game came out I will admit that put me off from playing the game for almost 2 years. But with a clear mind I decided to give the game the benefit of the doubt and man it was worth it. The visuals are amazing, the gameplay flows perfectly, and the character building brings a whole new light towards characters one would otherwise hate for reasons you’ll see in the first parts of the game. The thing I liked the most which made me turn around in my opinion is what they did with Joel’s character. Now spoiler alert for all who didn’t play yet or see the leaks when the game was coming out, but in the first 4 hours of the game roughly, Joel is Killed by Abby, who’s the secondary protagonist and antagonist respectfully. Despite that though there are still several flashback scenes that you play through as a younger Ellie which sheds light on both bonding moments and breaking moments between Joel and Ellie after the first game ended. Both the voice actors all did an amazing job at portraying these characters. And yes the one gripe I have is both the mo-cap of Abby and a very vivid sex scene that happens, however the scene does fit the story and is brief enough to where I was unbothered. This is a long and emotionally draining game, but the characters and the story will help you claw through it and witness some amazing beats. I would definitely recommend it at least 1 play through, while I plan my second and maybe third.… Expand

    Please don't trust all those "reviews" posted on and around June 19th, when most of those "reviewers" probably only played up to one certain story event they didn't stomach - if they owned the game at all that is. The game is utterly amazing and its current user score on here only shows that the meta crtitc user score system has its flaws and can be abused.     I give it a 9/10 as there's some areas of the story that I wish were elaborated more and some areas where the pacing felt off (mostly too slow). Several side characters felt like they weren't elaborated on strongly enough. And I felt it was far too easy to miss collectables, due to the many "one way doors" that the game has (I had multiple safes I knowingly missed as I thought that the clue to the combination was maybe behind some door). Literally made an account to write this review because I got tired of reading all these soft, butt-hurt comments because the story didn't unfold how they wanted it to. Without even touching the story, the gameplay and graphics are absolutely insane. The little things like being able to pass through a gap between 2 bookshelves is small but it makes the game so much more realistic. The AI was a perfect difficulty in my opinion. They actually required you to THINK if you wanted to play it sneaky. They didnt notice you from 5 feet away, watch you crouch back into some tall grass and shrug: "must have been the wind." Every bullet they took led to the proper bodily response and it was incredibly immersive.

    So let's talk story you ass hurt mother f***ers. Honestly, I don't know how you DIDNT think Joel would die? He made a selfish decision and chose his own relationship with someone he viewed as a daughter over the entire human race. Was that decision just supposed to go unpunished? "Well, I just hated how they killed him so horribly and brutally and made me play as the character who did it." Holy s**t folks, the POINT was to make you mad. Not one person started playing that game and thought they liked Abby. It was black and white at that point. She murdered the person we all loved in cold blood. That was it. We felt the same anger Ellie did and we wanted revenge. The game wanted to take this from a black and white plot and give it humanity. It wasn't just senseless murder because Abby was a raider who wanted to take over the new world. She wanted revenge on the man who murdered her father. We already saw WHY Joel killed her dad. We were along for the ride from the beginning so we didn't even think twice in the first game when we pulled the trigger on the surgeons who were about operate on Ellie. They were nameless, unimportant, evil, selfish doctors. Now in this game we got to see things from the other perspective. Actions have consequences. No, i'm not even saying what we did as Joel in the first game was wrong. It was human. My favorite scene in this game was the flashback in which Joel told Ellie that if he could go back, he would do the exact same thing. Absolutely no regrets. To shred this game down to: "ABBY KILL JOEL. I DONT LIKE ABBY. THIS GAME SUCKS." is so sad. Everyone has their own opinion, but rating a beautiful game such as this a ZERO because you didn't like the story is actually hilarious.

    I really don't care to touch on the fact that Ellie is a lesbian in this game. The fact that it angers so many people is pretty funny to me. Makes me wonder if Jesse was her love interest if user ratings would be as bad as they are.    … Expand

    Abby is the star in this game, I liked a lot her story, but Ellie is so bad to the point of being annoying. The gameplay is really cool and the graphics are awesome! I really hope they move on from Ellie and Joel for the next game we already seen enough of them.

How can people criticise the story when they didn't even know about the ending? Halfway through the game you play as Abby. I hated her as well. But playing as her and revealing that Joel killed her father was mind-blowing. The play style gives a perfect perspective of what Abby has gone through. Abby's father can die but Joel can't? Remember that they are both humans. And the impact of the story is absolutely soul crushing, and that is what a good story does, making an impact. The story is about perspective. Think about what would have happened if part 2 was the same style as the first one. It would be a repetitive mess. I feel bad for the developers seeing all the hate, while they did a fantastic job.

    Overall: This game is a well made sequel to one of the best games of all time. It's not a Disney movie for children

    10/10

    Incredible game, the atmosphere, pacing, characters and story were all fantastic. My only complaint is that parts dragged on a bit, so some combat felt a bit artificial, but otherwise the pacing was great and I really enjoyed all of the “downtime”. This is what gaming should strive for, immersive storytelling at its best, and still one of the best looking games period.

    Не понимаю тех, кому не понравилось, что Джоэла убили. Мне с первой части казалось, что игра про Элли, а не про Джоэла. В первой части она взрослела, набираясь опыта у "отца", во второй части же показывают её взрослой, как она изменилась, и какой путь выбрала.
    Игру многие называют скучной, но я играл в неё не отрываясь от геймпада, забывая даже в туалет сходить. Наверное, многим не понравился стэлс, однако он был и в первой части.
    Игра тянет на 8-9, но никак не на 5,7. Странно, что на первой части оценок намного меньше, чем на второй. Если на первой 30к (пс3+пс4), то тут почти 160к. У меня есть предположение, что половину оценок поставили те, кто не играл в игру, а лишь смотрели её прохождение, т.к. не имеют пс4.     - The Acting is solid from everyone, even the grunts that you're forced to kill say their lines to the highest standard

    The Bad (where to start?):
    - I said the graphics are amazing, but I don't think the visual design looks good, it's mostly grey, grey as far as the eye can see which isn't fun to look at.

    - Level design is quite simply either an over-sized corridor that doesn't look like a corridor so as to trick your brain into thinking you're not walking down a corridor, or walking down an actual corridor.

    - Mission design is pretty much, "hey see that place off in the distance, we gotta walk that for some reason, and they'll probably be something in our way that we need to brutally kill" CTRL C for 20 hours.

    - Furthermore... IT'S 20 GOD DAMN HOURS LONG!!! Way longer than it has any right to be, which makes playing it oh so very boring and frustrating after the first 10 hours.

    - Story... Jesus Christ. Metacritic only allows 5000 characters for a review, I'd need 5x that to fully example how unbelievably terrible the story, plot, writing, characters, themes and world-building are, but here's my thoughts in brief:

    - the only way I could fix the story is if it was completely rewritten, from start to finish it's stupid, slow, ridiculous, nonsensical, and full of filler, which is why it's 20 hours long

    - the plot only works if all the characters had a lobotomy beforehand, but as far as I'm aware they didn't so the plot doesn't work on any level except maybe for baby's first dramatic fiction writing.

    - despite the characters being played very well by some very talented actors who I can tell put their hearts and souls into this stinker, the characters are all terrible, despite the writers trying to make you like "certain" characters more than others, you end up hating everyone when you take a step back and think about it for 2 minutes.

    - When the overall theme of "revenge is bad" is not only predictable and has been done in a thousand other, better stories, but is horribly executed here, for example (no spoilers) Ellie does something pretty bad thing at the mid-point in order to get revenge, she seems very shaken by the experience immediately after and you'd think being a reasonable human being that she'd call it a day because of it, but in the next scene, she's completely fine, err...

    - The world in which this game takes place, i.e. zombie apocalypse doesn't sit comfortably with the overall theme, plot and story, the infected are simply there to add some continuity points and be another thing to kill, and this possibly could have been forgiven if this game wasn't attached to one of the best games that come out in the last decade and was a new IP, but it is, unfortunately, a sequel to that game which doesn't expand on the information given to us in the last game so you're more or less just wondering what's the point of this game if it's not going to expand on what the last game gave us.

    And sums up my thoughts on The Last of Us Part II, it is a game that has no right to exist the way it does, it adds nothing to the world, and literally takes everything from every single character, the first game had an overall theme of "hope", a theme that stopped that game from being a pain to play, this game is a misery to play, of all the games I've played, the good, the bad, and the forgettable, the game I regret playing the most is this one.

    For me, this game doesn't exist and The Last of Us was simply the last game in that IP    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
