This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Regarding the story, it seems good to me that a dramatic and dark turn has been made, since the same game means that there are neither good nor bad, that the only thing that can be found in the last of us part 2 are points of view and thoughts different from those of the protagonists, do not lie, it hurt me that Joel's death was so fast, but outside of that, the game is really fine, it has a deeper narrative and even the songs that are played in the trailers and in the game they have to do partly for the same story, an example would be true faith, which basically says that ellie's revenge is like a drug, a drug that makes you crazy, and around the game you can to see how Ellie little by little is destroying herself inside and out until she is left alone because of revenge as dyna abandons her and because of Ellie many die.
Regarding the End, it bothered me a little that ellie did not kill abby, but after a few minutes I understood that with that final flashback of joel, ellie realized that even if she kills abby, joel would not return and everything would be the same and the cycle of Vengeance would not end, what ellie does in the End is to act with the head and in the most human way possible, it is at that moment in which there is an explosion of emotions, I feel that this game was made for a more mature perspective and dark, a story that does not focus on the typical, for me the end, as sour as it may be, has seemed to me a good closure for the story of ellie, I know that many do not like the game and directly classify it as rubbish, but really the game is something that we are not used to, and for that reason and its history or gameplay, etc., at least for me it is a good game

I went into this game completely spoiler free, I barely knew when the game was releasing other than knowing it was sometime in June. The fond memories I have of the first game is what drove me to buy this sequel. I'll try to write with a general approach as to not spoil critical moments of the game. Going into this game I expected /something/ like the first game in terms of plot, but most of all I was just curious to see what the future held for Joel and Ellie. When "it" happened (if you've played the game you know what I'm talking about) I all of a sudden had an incentive and I was determined to follow it through. This part of the game also sets the tone for a lot of the game. It's not a happy story. It's quite a sad story about how one's goals can come at the cost of everything you hold dear. Yet, as I finished the game I thought the game could not have had a better ending. It's harrowing, but after the events that occurred throughout the game, I think this ending makes sense for all the characters, and I'm excited to see if there will be a Part 3.

I've noticed some people having trouble with there being themes of LGBTQ+ in the game. I myself was very neutral to this. Having gay characters and trans-characters don't affect my life, or my perception of these characters at all (other than the hardships these characters might've faced due to this, but that's a different topic). Towards the end of the game I became very happy for these characters, their sexuality wasn't even a factor into my being happy for them, just seeing these characters express happiness and love in such a devastating and dystopian setting made me feel genuinely happy and I was touched by this portrayal of companionship. I'm sure it means more to others than it does for me.

I do not want to spoil anything of the plot, as I think not knowing anything prior to playing the game really gave me the truest experience. Having my perspective and mindset challenged by the game was also incredibly interesting. I'd recommend this game based on the story alone and the emotional bonds you create with these fictional characters. It plays like a great book reads.

Other than that, I was astonished by the graphics and the attention to detail in this game. The atmosphere and sound design made me want to pause a few times due to the tension, but I felt it was part of the experience, so I endured.

Will play this game again countless times.

I really loved this game, even though my favorite character ended up dying to the stupid **** i will never feel sympathy for it was a great game. I enjoyed the story, the character development all the flashbacks, and definitely the graphics and game play. I was a little upset with the ending they build up all of this hate and want for revenge and the end only to leave you feeling dissatisfied. despite that, i was an emotional wreck playing this game it was very well put together. And i've heard a lot of hate about ellie being lesbian, people must not have played the first game because it was clearly put in there that she was into girls. All in all i wish they had the game revolve around jole being kidnapped and ellie going to save him instead of killing him off but still a great game at the end of the day Expand

If you understand the story and can understand what they trying to convey with these characters, this game truthfully is a 10/10. They gameplay is immaculate and is full of the most realistic violence you’ve ever seen in a game. The story is so gut wrenching and heartbreaking, but it was the story that needed to be told. I respect the hell out of Naughty Dog for this game, they stepped out of their norm and took a risk. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is everything that was promised. It's brutal, brilliant, forceful, important narrative that addresses issues of pain, regret, anger and hate and their corrosive influences on life and society. It interrogates what it is to be a hero or a villain and deconstructs our childish cultural assumptions about what it is to be either. People review bombing it can suck all of the dicks. They're the same petulant **** who didn't like The Last Jedi because they found their assumptions being challenged by the narrative, the very thing that great art is supposed to do.

I'd be willing to bet a Confederate flag or two that a decent chunk of the hate this game has received from melt minded one handed typers is because they ditched the middle aged white male protagonist for a diverse band of superbly drawn non stereotypes that did just as well. All this anger because your favourite character dies. That's what stories do. All this, despite the fact that Joel spends the rest of the game present anyway, floating around in Ellie's memory like some sort of sexy omniscient god. Or maybe it's the confusion about which character is trans? Must be the muscly one? Right?

**** knows. All I know is that it's only insanity or being extremely hard of understanding that could make you put this game at anything lower than a 9.

Fantastic game! Beautiful graphics with wonderfully detailed environments and characters. The gameplay is better than ever, with more ways to approach every encounter than part 1. The story is a great tale of revenge. What make both games so special is that the story does not care about your feelings. Naughty Dog has a story they want to tell and they don't care if it upsets a few people.

All the hate and negative reviews are just a testimony as to how brilliant the first game was and how beloved Joel and Ellie were. TLOU has already demonstrated us the studio's ability to throw curve balls and poke the Amygdala but part 2 proves that they can also put you on your wit’s end by forcing you to make impossible decisions and then leaving you perplexed making you question yourself if it was morally correct. I sincerely believe naughty dog really outdid themselves and the whole industry with this part by crafting something that captures the true marrow of what we as humans are and can be. I think that the developers have transcended the idea of what a game should be and can be. They have democratized the characters and made them more humane, susceptible to everything a real-life person is. As for the characters, they are as real and raw now as they can be. Instead of the usual hero- villain roles the boundaries are blurred and marred with some much blood and gore that the roles become interchangeable and almost indistinguishable. The inspiration from GTA5 and Until Dawn is evident but the stories intertwingling with such complexity that both Abbey and Ellie become the opposite sides of the same coin.
I believe it is the kind of game that cannot be enjoyed with a preoccupied mind and a personal bias, with the expectations of a positive, cheerful and uplifting story like the last game. TLOU was the story of Joel exploring the themes of love, compassion and hope when everything around was miserable and bleak, TLOU2 is the opposite, Ellie exploring the feelings of revenge, hatred and above else guilt, even when everything around is in order, when everyone around is as loving as they can be. It is about coming to terms with everything that they had either done or witnessed. Above all it is a mature coming of age story in a post-apocalyptic world. It is the kind of game that will act as a milestone for all future games in terms of emotional depth and driving themes. It is the epitome of how deep into the void video games can descend. I feel betrayed not by the game but by the so-called loyal fans of the series. Life is not always fair and not everyone gets what they desire or deserve. The decision to depict that distress must have been hard for the studio itself but they did it anyways because they felt that it was the right thing to do and that is something not many people out there are prepared to make.
I sincerely believe most of the criticism is just unjust and is there because the game was spoiled for much of the fanbase. As for the complaints regarding all the agenda pushing, I believe it’s all a matter of double standards, on one side people laude unreleased games like Cyberpunk for its inclusivity but they harshly criticize TLOU2 for the same. And it was not as if it was done in a Rowling way, everyone who had played Left Behind already knew what was in store.
Making a generic storyline, with a happily lived ever after ending would have been more commercially successful and would have been in straighter alignment with the wider expectations. We all know it would have been a great commercial success and would have easily found its way into many of the year’s top games lists, but that would have been a commercial victory not an artistic one. I sincerely thank God that naughty dog decided otherwise. True artists please themselves not others and TLOU2 is artistic vision realized impeccably.

I was so disgusted by Joel’s death and I intensely wanted Abby dead. As soon as you play as her I knew they would try and make me have empathy for her. I didn’t think it was possible but I eventually grew to like her to the point I no longer wanted her dead. Think about it, if there was no TLOUS 1 or backstory to Joel or Ellie then people would hate them for they did to Abby. I’m glad Ellie let go before the acts she committed destroyed her completely. I do wish that Ellie found some kind of happiness and meaning in the end though and I hope that’s the focus if there’s a DLC or continuation of the story Expand

The story is BRUTAL and it often elicited emotions that made me genuinely uncomfortable, but the payoff was super cathartic. The gameplay felt great, it has everything good from the first one and a few added mechanics that made fights feel really fluid. Needless to say, the graphics were phenomenal. The amount of detail made me want to take my time and explore every bit of the levels. The puzzles were definitely light in comparison with TLOU, but the ones that stood out were surprisingly natural. Figuring out a solution kind of felt like it wasn't even a fabricated puzzle at all and I just happened to find a way to solve a problem naturally.
It's crazy how some people are putting this game on blast. Reading a bunch of negative reviews I get the impression that these people either didn't even play the game or are just salty about one certain plot point and refuse to enjoy a narrative that makes them feel complex emotions. I feel sorry for everyone that can't appreciate how absurdly good this game is, both as a spectacular sequel to a game that should have been impossible to follow, and just as an awesome game in its own right.

People criticize the flashback format but I believe it was perfect at revealing information when it had the biggest impact. The violence in this game is very self aware and Naughty Dog did an amazing job of conveying that every person you kill has their own lives. What a game. We played it in about 35hrs within 3 days; we even sat an alarm to get up early to continue playing - and overslept it cause we were playing from 8:30am until 2:30am the first day. We waited for this story to continue for 7 years and we just consumed it like there is no tomorrow - which I wouldn‘t recommend as I suffered from migraine and severe devastation for the following 4 days. I‘m too old for this sh*t.
Back to the game: the DETAILS!!! The facial expressions of the characters as you play them is unbelievable. They talk to each other as you play, they comment on items you find, Ellie is even biting her nails sometimes; there even was a plastic bag flying through the air in post apocalyptical Seattle! When Abby bit her lip in that one video sequence!!! I could go on forever and the most important thing is the STORY (I just particularly love these DETAILS): I remember how I completely didn’t expect the ending of the first part. I was shocked. Is this the ending!? But!? The cure!? How is she going to believe anything...!? What is!!?? I ended up convincing my husband to immediately restart the game (it was 1am in 2013) as I was sure it had to be a decision-ending and that he simply made that decision and that we can change the ending. Yeah, pathetic. It was THAT kind of a shock. 7 years of discussions about what would happen next between Joel and Ellie and legitimation of Joel’s decision and a never ending nerve-racking WAIT until the story finally continued this June. We consumed the story (we had broken up years ago but yes, we still play games together cause they‘re magic and we cool). We played through the whole story, taking whatever Naughty Dog was throwing at us; at times I was crawled like an embryo and breathing heavily holding together my grief and anger about all the damn perspectives they force me to undergo, stubbornly continuing the damn game in silly hopes of a happy ending (I can hear Naughty Dog laughing [and my ex]). That sh*t hurt. I was SO angry with Naughty Dog. I had gone through too many different yet most devastating emotions in too little time. I‘m sensitive, I‘m empathic; YOU GUYS!!!!! That stuff hurt so bad. In part one you had that one spectacular decision in the end - Naughty Dog must have just said DANG IT, WE‘RE JUST DOING IT! and that‘s what they must have thought on part two every other WEEK. The plot changed faster and heavier than we could ever expect; every possible heart break just HAPPENED; that moment when you switch to Abby... I simply LOVE ABBY and she turned to be my new true hero of The Last Of Us - THERE, I said it!!! I was with Joel and Ellie in the beginning and then ND forced me to realize how brutal and relentless they are (and Tommy). I had spent YEARS trying to JUSTIFY Joel‘s decision (which I never accomplished - in contrast to my ex) which was FORCED on me by Naughty Dog and now the same people show me that IT INDEED WAS THE WRONGEST DECISION EVER MADE and it caused nothing but GRIEF and SORRY - but they don‘t stop there: you have to play Abby and (when you played the game open hearted) find her to be sensitive, strong, smart, afraid of heights, desirable - simply find to love her - find her dad to be the DANG SURGEON (knowing he will be murdered) - find Owen to be her true love (knowing he will be murdered) - ALSO the surgeon takes care of the former zoo animals LIKE THEY ARE TAKING AWAY EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL WE THOUGHT WE HAD, WE THOUGHT JUSTIFIED JOEL‘S DECISION sorry. Long story short: It was like in that episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Dewey finds his "evil twin" but soon he has to realize that this boy is the good twin and HE is the evil one himself. With the difference that Abby also falls for revenge and therefore finally ruins her life so far as well. I hate people. Thank you Naughty Dog, I truly hate you guys. This is the most incredible journey of emotions, human abysses and stunning graphics ever created. My ex died two times ingame when the first dog attacked us - I wanted him to figure out a way without killing the dogs, but yeah, you also force us to kill dogs. I wondered if there ever is enough time to cope with The Last Of Us Part II - sadly Naughty Dog will give us plenty of years to deal with the aftermaths. I want ABBY and ELLIE saving the world TOGETHER; nothing less¡!! My only wish for all further christmases and shooting stars is that civilization will make it until The Last Of Us Part III - The Remnants

PS: YOU EVEN TOOK HER FINGERS, YOU MONSTERS; GIVING AWAY ELLIE STATUES THAT PLAY GUITAR IN THE COLLECTOR’S EDITION; genius stuff...

Everything from the graphics, to the sound design, to the character animations to the voice acting is top tier. The gameplay improves upon its predecessor in almost every way—environments are richer, enemies are smarter, combat and traversal are much more fluid.

The most polarizing aspect of this game is obviously the story. In short, The Last Of Us Part II is not interested in fan service, period. Naughty Dog took a big risk with this story in that they decided to stay true to the bleak brutality of the post-apocalyptic world, creating nuanced, morally ambiguous characters. Not everyone gets a happy ending. Actually, no one really gets a happy ending. But what else can be expected in a world ravaged by disease and violence? Without a doubt, The Last of Us Part II offers one of the most thought-provoking stories ever told in a video game.

The truth is, just because people are upset over a major character dying, doesn't make this an objectively bad story. It's actually the opposite—the fact that people are so angry means the game did its job. We're supposed to feel angry, and depressed, and disgusted, and hopeless, and disappointed. The biggest strength of this game is its ability to make players FEEL. That alone makes it one of the most impressive pieces of storytelling —in ANY medium— in years.

That was awesome. I am grateful to the developers and I have a message to all those who believe in bad reviews and write them. Just don't. Have the courage to face harsh stories. I initially thought I was the only one who felt Joel's regret when he disclosed his name to Abby and the group. The things that followed happened so quickly that I didn't get to ponder much upon it but having Troy and Neil go over it surely stemmed in me the depth of storytelling that took place in mere seconds. Istg I can't stress this enough, but massive massive humongous props to the Dogs for making those few seconds matter so much. Joel was still as, if not more nuanced than the previous game. Its gonna remain as the single most intensely memorable experience of media I've had in an extremely long time and just like Part 1 will remain in my heart for the rest of my life. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is an absolutely gorgeous piece of art that is so polarizing. It’s amazing the immediate knee jerk reaction this game has gotten. I went into the game spoiler free, but I figured Joel was going to die at some point. And boy did he die. It was horrible and I hated Abby so much throughout the first half of the game. I couldn’t understand why she did what she did and couldn’t believe that ND was trying to justify her story. When I finally got to the Abby v Ellie encounter after Ellie’s Seattle day 3, I was livid that I had to play as abby. I kept on killing her over and over again, saying “good, you deserve this.” But then the story began to unfold. Abby was just a little girl when all of her friends (besides a select few) were murdered before her by Joel, including her dad. Not only that, but Joel completely and selfishly took away the worlds only hope for a vaccine. Still, I was mad at Abby. But then you begin to learn more about her friends and why they are there. You start to feel empathy, which so many people on this site cannot wrap their head around. Abby didn’t want to kill everyone, she wanted justice and she got it. She spares Ellie’s life twice. Ellie, however, is so purely blinded by a need for revenge, very similar to Joel when his daughter died. Abby also gets to that point when she’s about to kill Dina, but chooses a different path because Lev (like Ellie in the first game) is her anchor to reality. She shows mercy and breaks that cycle. Fast forward to the final encounter, and you’ve finally gotten your chance to finish Abby. But then something hits Ellie, that none of this will bring back Joel and she’s falling into this same pattern he feel into years before. She chooses for the first time to see clearly and show mercy, not only for Abby but for Lev as well. It is an unbelievably good story.

Gameplay wise, there are so many improvements to the first game. Cover systems, AI, attack patterns, and ways to go about completely an area are heavily varied. I played on survivor and some of the parts were crushing to figure out. Zombies can get released on bad people, I could go on and on. It’s so much fun

Graphics, Sound, and locations speak for themselves, they are unbelievable. I felt like I was actually on top of a skyscraper or in SB while playing. My only gripe is that I feel some of the minor characters on ellie’s side could’ve been expanded on, especially Jesse and Dina. And that some of the plot is shock value. But that absolutely does not take away from this work of art.

I truly believe this game deserves GOTY and would be extremely surprised if it didn’t win it after initial sales we are seeing. Anyone rating this game 0-4 is a basement dweller who can’t emphasize with different points of view and try to walk through why characters do bad things. This game will hurt you, but that’s the point. It is a harsh reality about a post apocalyptic world.

This game blew me away, not as much for just the gameplay, but more the realism and compelling stories that I feel are both lacking from video games in this era. I find that this is the best place to share not just my thoughts, but the philosophy and themes that carried the game’s message (in my opinion):
1: The Cycle of Violence This one is fairly self-explanatory, but Ellie’s final decision to spare Abby (and Lev) ends a generational cycle of killing and pain, dating back to the “parents” of both the game’s protagonists (Joel/Dr. Anderson). This opportunity for growth was hinted at and ultimately failed in TLOU, but serve the driving plot point of TLOU2.
2: Parenthood I personally did not pick up on this theme until the epilogue, despite it being right underneath my nose for a solid 1/2 of the story. Take a second to think about the dichotomy between Ellie-Joel and Abby-Lev in. What did our “parent figure” do differently? The same? Much like Joel, Abby ends the lives of MANY to save the one life of Lev. How does this make her any better than Joel doing the same for Ellie? Was this decision even redeemable by either of them in the first place? The game’s final cliffhanger provides you, the player, the ability to envision how Abby and Lev’s relationship will progress, or be damaged, as they move into the “Jackson” phase which put a rift between Ellie and Joel. Additionally, Ellie rejected the opportunity to be a proper parent to Jesse Jr. Was this because of her PTSD from Seattle, or her fear that she would ultimately make the same mistakes as Joel?
3: The Animalistic Decay of Humanity Less apparent than #1 here, but the comparison of the game’s protagonists to animals evokes the decaying state of society, and thereby, human nature: Joel: The Owl Throughout the game, Joel is referenced (most often by Jesse and Tommy) as an “old bird”. The imagery of the owl on Joel’s coffee cup and in Ellie’s journal drawings also cement this point. Joel is wise, slow, and strikes viciously, prone to fits of anger (Ellie’s rescue). Ellie: the Wolf Specifically in TLOU, many NPC’s refer to Ellie as “the wolf girl”. This is brought full circle in TLOU2, where Ellie meets her literal match in the WLF’s. Ellie is controlled by her negative emotion, and it enables her to commit terrible (often unnecessary) acts of violence. It is also noteworthy when Abby/Lev approach the hospital to retrieve materials for Yara’s surgery, Lev remarks “Wolves never look up, only forward.” Was this meant only about the WLF? Abby: The Oxen Abby’s direct and unforgiving personality are put in direct contrast to her muscular body when referred to as “the lady built like an ox” by the trader who provides intel to Tommy in the period after Seattle. This comparison does not carry as much weight as the others, but cements the point that these animal-based comparisons show the decaying humanity of the game’s core cast.
Finally, while it is less of a philosophical theme and more of a fact, I think it is important to mention that while the TLOU series are technically “zombie” games, the real enemy is rarely ever the actual infected, instead more often human nature of the dangers of the self.

This game was something else for me, I found my heart beating so hard at so many times that I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I cried, I hated Abby but ended up understanding everything, I wanted to push Ellie so hard at the end to make her let everything go after seeing what happened to both of them.
I get why everyone is so mad at the developers and the writers but this is what had to happen from the beginning, all the death and the hate and the sadness had to come, along with us learning to see both sides as something good.

One of the best games I’ve ever played so far, I’m glad that everyone put so much effort into it and I’m happy that The Last of Us got such an ending.

Out of the 80,000 some reviews, I guarantee over half of them didnt even get the game. They judged it on the leaks and didnt give it another chance. I hear a lot of people say that it made the first game pointless. Though, the first game made itself pointless. They finally got to the place where they could make the cure, but Joel didnt want to lose Ellie so he killed the fireflies, making the journey "pointless". I understand the outrage over them killing off joel so soon and pathetically, however he had to die. He couldnt get away with killing all of those people, it was gonna happen at some point, so why not use it to spark a revenge story. The only thing I see wrong with this game is the fight against Ellie, I understand what they were trying, but it didnt work at all. Aside from that, I dont see what's so wrong with this game. Obviously it cant be as amazing as the first game, they weren't trying to do that. At the end of the day, a lot of people spent a lot of time on it. If you're gonna trash on it at least play it and know why you hate it. Honestly, great **** game Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Best story-driven game I've ever played. I have never had a form of media make me feel the way this did. I felt the peace of Jackson at the beginning. I felt Ellie's pain and subsequent rage when her father figure was killed. Surprisingly, I felt Abby's heartbreak when she saw her father dead on the hospital floor, knowing that 7 years ago, I, as a player, am responsible for it. Most of the characters are fantastic. I grew to empathize with some that I hated, and disliked some of the characters that I loved. All through Naughty Dog's masterful storytelling. From a technical standpoint, I don't think we'll see something on this level until a sequel to God of War (2018) or GTA 6 should that ever created. The environments, animations, A.I., everything about the gameplay is fantastic. The large open areas down to the darkest rooms all have such great attention to detail that aids in fully immersing you into the world. The fact that playing as 2 different characters felt so different was amazing. Ellie feels agile, swift in her movements and kills. Abby on the other hand feels like a wrecking ball, capable of barreling through an enemy that's in her way. All of the weapons have a distinct feel, especially the melee weapons, which make you feel every swing you make. This game was everything I wanted it to be, even though it was nothing like what I expected. I understand why others are disappointed, but you have to go into it with an open mind. If you do, the experience will be something you never forget and it won't be matched in a very, very long time. Expand

I understand it is not a game for everyone, however: it has an intensely harrowing and emotionally shattering story that may seem like a departure from the first game and is dependent on the player becoming at least somewhat empathetic to a certain character which may not click for everybody. Furthermore, the pacing of the story beats can be questionable at times, and could have been presented in a more succinct manner.

That being said, the production is stunning. From the graphical fidelity and meticulous attention to realism and detail to the breath-taking cinematography. It is a gorgeous marvel of a videogame. The acting is the best in the medium, as is the the musical composition by oscar-winning Gustavo Santaolalla. The sound design is phenomenal and really immerses the player into the bleak and haunting post-apocalyptic world of The Last of Us.

The gameplay is consisted of environmental puzzles, exploration, scavenging, and combat. Although I must admit I felt the looting became tedious at times, I understand its necessity in a survival game. The combat, on the other hand, is fluid and allows players to approach encounters with their own style of gameplay. It is extremely violent and every kill makes you feel the horror and brutality of your actions.

TLOUII is an experience which inspires discussion. I recommend it to anyone who seeks more in a videogame than just escapism.

Expand

Loved the game. The way I experienced it was quite intense and in the end it left me feeling numb. It really is an emotional rollercoaster - you go through strong (mostly negative) different emotions - love, hate, grief which i loved but the majority of people who played the game didnt.

this game has given me so much feelings and emotions that I cant explain. I kinda understand why people are hating on it, but this game for me was absolutely stunning. The story, the animations, the fights, everything. The story just fits together so well after 7 years, its incredible. Remember, this is only my review, everyone has their own, this is mine, please dont hate on me.

One of the most intense and thrilling gaming experiences I ever had. Fluid and smooth gameplay together with an exciting new approach on how to tell an emotional story in a Video game.

genre defining game, amazing physics and lighting, truly a must play. Well written and directed. Only negatives is that the controls can be a bit clunky on occasion, although improved after update and the camera angle can be annoying

Just as the first title was the best game on Ps3. Last of Us 2 is undoubtedly the best game on Ps4. Great story, clever puzzles, well scripted action and big scares.

For me, the best game i've ever played. Probably the game of the generation and one of the best in history.

That rat king was awesome, the new type of styles and fight strategies, the hole story and the final fight that left me with my jaw on the floor. Sometimes it gets so emotional. Great job.

The people who dislike this game are the people who like to go to Marvel movies because they get to see their favorite characters do predictable things and triumph in the end.

The beauty of this game is that it forces you to look at things from a new perspective, and many people don't like to look beyond their bubble of comfort. The world of The Last Of Us Part II (and the real world)

The beauty of this game is that it forces you to look at things from a new perspective, and many people don't like to look beyond their bubble of comfort. The world of The Last Of Us Part II (and the real world) is not black and white... it is grey. Everybody is flawed, and everyone thinks they have good intentions. The characters you love are not necessarily good, the characters you hate are not necessarily bad. It's hard to get too in-depth without spoiling anything, but it's one of the most challenging, eye-opening and unforgettable experiences I've ever had in a video game. I'd strongly urge people play the game for themselves before casting any judgement. 10/10.

So, the game makes you feel bad in the first 2 hours, it makes you wanna put it down, but as you keep and getting to know the reasons why the characters do what they do, you start to empathise with them, it's just so human, and so well made, the voice acting is top, animations are top, graphics are top, gameplay is crazy good, is terrifying, is heart breaking, its just so sad but at the same time so good. I wish that you by reading this, even if you hate the game, try and give it a chance and give it a couple of days to thing about everything that happened.. I think I played it through 5 times. The sequel did not disappoint. The story is heartbreaking and engaging and contains some great character arcs. To be honest as soon as this game was announced I knew that character was dead, there wasn't much further for that story to go. I really enjoyed the new characters. I was still pissed at Abby when I first started playing as her but loved her by the end. Some people want sunshine and rainbows in the post apocalypse but its a world with no heroes. Expand

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
