    Gameplay is okay. The rope physics are amusing for a while, but the central component of a Last of Us game is the story. This is a straight up revenge story with even less compelling characters. Not original and not worth the price

Right up till it should've ended at the farm house..... Or gave us a choice and made it multiple ending.... Everything after that I honestly just felt dirty doing. You completely gutted the characters you built up. So many other ways to finish that. Leave it at the farm, have E and A team up, have them come back to each other looking for help... But you chose to just crap on all of it..... Playing through again just skipping any cutscene after the farm....… Expand

The whole game went sour from that point on. I want a full dam refund, Naughty Dog really did this all wrong. The combat was fine, the story was pretty garbage this game in comparison to the first one. I hope Naughty Dog doesn't make a mistake like this again. Oh btw stop inflating it with positive reviews to skew things and make it look like the game is doing great.… Expand

    Uma história muito bem construída e eu achei sensacional a experiência de jogar com a Ellie e com a Abby e, assim, poder entender a versão de cada uma delas, bem como as motivações e entender que as duas são garotas boas que estavam em busca de vingança por perder a pessoa que mais amavam. People who complain about the plot, and not getting revenge are totally missing the point. Go play something else if you want simplistic videogame plots with no conflict. I found myself completely uncomfortable by then end of the game in the best way possible. I didn't want either character to die. Because in either characters shoes I could justify their actions. Ellie knew Joels reckoning was somewhat justified. So she couldn't being herself to follow through with killing Abby, it wouldn't give her closure. Just a great story that has set a new bar for me.… Expand

The game developer is trying too hard forcing their agenda in the game that it feels like they want to kill this franchise. Very disappointing. Vengance; Ellie against the tortures of joel. Its simple and strong for a videogame. My critic is about the plot. Im excluding technical, graphic and inventory aspects. Love those. And of course the IA (the only criticable about the 1st last of us it is same here).. 1st: play with abby..what a horrible character to play with, not charming not funny not grace. They make you hate her, then force you to empathice and worst of all, gave her the best gameplay parts. Never engage with the character or even like it. What a waste..
    2. The characters are kind of stupid: joel and tommy gave the names to the everyone they met (hi im joel.. maybe you heard abbout me. kill thousands. Someone you knew maybe) . then tommy says to ellie in the theater: "its over" and insist to come back to jackson. But then (in jackson) he aforce ellie to hunt abby once again. All because he cant? So tommy (one of my most love character) is a coward.

    3. When abby is about to begin torture joel, they gave you the impression they know each other (but never do). It will be much better that naughty dog work on a dark past of joel (that he torture abby or someone close to her), that way they give logic to the decissions of abby. But no. She tortures joel without regret and joel only shot his dad because his dad threaten him. So much anger in abby doesnt fit. Could fit if she still a bad **** but no, they insist in humanice abby, the antagonist. So redundand. Why cannot her and her group be just evil people.. on the end all of the people ellie kills has his motives and families.. so better do a game of friendship.
    4. Hate that ellie talks abbout abby as "abby" and abby (about joel) as "joel".. by their names.. are they so close? So incoherent. Once again forcing the bond with player (us) and abby (the ****)
    5. Last but not least.. you pardon abby? After you kill half the planet seeking her, you forgive her? Why?

    I think they should work something simplier. Learn abbout game of thrones mistakes. And not try to get impresive, remember that first is a video game that you should like to play. And not a movie you should like to watch.

    El juegos es bastante bueno, su gameplay, música, el apartado técnico y ambientación son hermosos, pero la historia.... Se nota un desprecio total por los personajes que dieron vida a esta historia, más el echó de obligarte a sentir empatía por un personaje como Abby, siendo que no entrega nada interesante a esta.

    Great story and characters, engaging and dynamic gameplay. I think the story was misunderstood and berated before it was even released and that is shame, because the arc of Abby is actually really interesting.

    Lo jugué y pasé por diferentes emociones. En partes sí se me hizo largo y entiendo por qué tanta gente lo critica, pero me hizo reflexionar y entender el por qué está hecho de la manera en que está hecho con lo que nos puede gustar y lo que no.

Really impressive graphics, improved gameplay from the first, a large cast of very well-written, human, relatable characters and just a savage emotional beating of a storyline, with just enough occasional glimpses of joy in the darkness to keep me going.     Tecnicamente incrível, mas a história e o enredo do jogo são MUITO RUINS. eu me forcei a zerar esse jogo antes de Ghost of Tsushima e foi difícil, muitas vezes cai no ostracismo, a parte de Eliie é MUITO chata, só se salva o hospital, e a forçação pra por a Abby e a perspectiva dela, meu Deus, muito chato. Muita decepção até pelo primeiro jogo ser um dos meus favoritos.

    This is really the finest crafted game i have played story-wise. Way more ambitious and grand than the first outing. Also it has the most incredible level design i have experienced in a game. Especially during the Abby missions. It´s dark, grim and demanding. You spend plenty of time in dark places and the flashlight    Only dumb people give this game a 0. You let emotions distract you.

    This is really the finest crafted game i have played story-wise. Way more ambitious and grand than the first outing. Also it has the most incredible level design i have experienced in a game. Especially during the Abby missions. It´s dark, grim and demanding. You spend plenty of time in dark places and the flashlight you have is very well used this time.

    The story would probably disappoint many i am sure, but on a technical viewpoint, this game is fantastic. It is obvious that tons of work has been made on every little detail on the level designs. It has been 7 very long years well spent, and it shows. It was a deep, evolving, emotional and brutal journey. This is probably the most realistic post-apocalyptic setting there is. There is no happiness or optimism in a time set like TLOU universe.

    The ONLY downside is the pacing that can be slow in certain parts, and that is the only reason it misses the 10/10 from me. The are certain times during your exploring when you pretty much DO just that, Exploring and pacing around for long stretches before you even encounter an item even. Some areas seems dead certain places.

    The message from this game is so strong, you can feel it at every corner, every scene, i´t is another level for games, a landmark for sure. Makes all the other games a joke. I´ve been feeling sad and depressed for three days now after I finished it. Don´t listen to the people hating the game, play it for yourself. No one should tell you what you supposed to like.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I read a several reviews of this game before starting it. The greatest criticisms I read of the game were that Ellie becomes someone unrecognizable from who she'd been in the first game, that the violence is gratuitous, and that the violence and struggle depicted in the game is not justified by the ending. I actually agree with all of these statements. What I don't agree with is the idea that these three facets of the game are it's failures. I understand why they upset people, but ultimately I feel that these characteristics were integral parts of an intentional tragedy rather than a function of poor storytelling.

    In the first game we watch as a young Ellie becomes more thoughtful and withdrawn while grappling with the violence of the world around her. In the second, we play as an adult Ellie that we only really come to understand through flashbacks sprinkled throughout the game. You are not supposed to fully understand Ellie's motivations, forcing you to question them and her decisions throughout the game when you want to be agreeing with her. This is compounded as Ellie makes more and more questionable decisions as the game continues, and as you are forced to experience the fallout of those decisions both from her perspective and the perspective of those she's fighting. You start off wanting to root for her, but by the end of her time in Seattle, the best you can do is hope she makes it out alive. It is painful to watch a character you love and are invested in become almost unrecognizable to you because of her own decisions. Tragic, but not poorly written.

    I do not consider myself someone who has many reservations about violence in storytelling; my dislike of horror movies having more to do with contrived plots than gore. Yet, the endless tension and violence of this game was emotionally exhausting in ways I anticipated, but was still not prepared for. Just when you think you're almost done, you have to play through it all over again working against those you're rooting for while knowing the ultimate futility of your actions. It was enough to make me want to put down the controller and stop playing, but just reading a summary online wouldn't have been satisfying enough and everything the game had made me go through up to that point would have been for nothing. So I keep playing and pushed through the violence and struggle to gain some closure. This, I imagine, is exactly the feeling that keep Ellie and Abby on their path's of revenge. It's not that I was unaware that the game was trying to draw these parallels between Abby and Ellie, it would be pretty hard not to be, but the success with which they were able to draw parallels between what I as the player was feeling and what they as the two playable characters on opposite sides of a conflict were feeling, is pretty damn impressive. This game is the single best example of the strengths of video games as a medium in story telling that I can think of. The first game introduces the idea of cycles of violence as something that the world is stuck in, the second game shows you one of these cycles in action. The gratuity of the violence is emblematic of the cycles of it they find themselves in, and their willfully ignorant perpetuation of it feels tragic rather than thoughtless.

    Ellie and Abby's motivations are eventually revealed to parallel each other, and while Ellie's character development continues to parallel Abby's in her self destructive quest for revenge, Abby's character development slowly shifts to parallel Joel's. The final climax comes with Ellie finding Abby in Santa Barbara and Abby refusing to fight, but when her young charge is threatened she ultimately fights and disfigures Ellie in a decision that loosely parallels Joel's choice to kill the fireflies. Yet when confronted with the opportunity to get revenge on the person who killed her father, as Abby was at the beginning of the game, Ellie makes a different choice. Some seem to view this as a failure on Ellie's part, or as a failure on the writer's part. That if Ellie could choose not to kill Abby, then she could have just as easily chosen not to go after Abby the second time, or the first time, or that Abby could have chosen no to go after Joel in the first place. If the cycles of violence that were used to justify Joel's choices, and the choice of a soldier to open fire on him and Sarah can be opted out of, then doesn't that render every death, every loss, every difficult choice made in the series meaningless? Yeah. Yeah, it does, but not because Abby was allowed to live, but because all of it was already meaningless. Ellie's choice just opened our eyes to that fact.

    There are many reasons not to enjoy a game, and I can understand why the ones discussed here could tarnish your enjoyment of this one and even the series as a whole. But questions of enjoyment and quality are separate and regardless of whether I would call this game enjoyable, it's certainly not lacking in quality.    … Expand

    This game was amazing, hands down one of the best experiences in gaming I've had ever. I get that the story is controversial, but to me it was freshly daring and, with a little patience and understanding, the most rewarding outcome to a story that I've witnessed.

    As a TLOU fanatic, the additional gameplay mechanics such as crawling and more emphasis on dodging was phenomenal. However, the AI was predictable and stealth seemed like it was the same as the last game. It was disappointing how easy it was to for stealth gameplay if one were to complete the game without morals such as killing the dogs immediately.     Me gustó la historia, que es cruda y venganza, ves las dos caras de una moneda. Logra generarte distintas emociones te mueve, te da tensión desagrado por momentos pero es genial te guste o no, nada es 100% bueno ni malo.Dice más de lo que a simple vista puedes percatar.

    Tlou is not a vanilla story. It’s real life displayed on a game. It is amazing how intertwined the story is and it is definitely a game you won’t want to miss. Here’s hoping for a 3rd installment

    If you love a challenging story and the pretty much the best gameplay you've ever played, just ignore the leak and hate and play the damn game. I judge a story by how 'much' it affects me and not how it affects me. I have never been this emotionally invested in any story before be it a game, film or TV show (ok maybe breaking bad).

    Immersion, the fourth wall and respect for fans who waited seven years for this game seem to be the least of Naughty Dog's interests with this game; it appears their only interest was in causing shock and controversy by any means possible, while paradoxically moral-high-grounding the player from atop the pedestal built on crunching their developers and false advertising.

    The four points for this review go to those working on the art and gameplay of the game, but they cannot hold together an inherently flawed and patronising experience.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After waiting 7 years the last of us 2 does not live up to the expectations of the namesake. The story is a mess, constantly flipping from present to past and most of the time feels like this shouldve been part 3. Joel is killed 2 hours into the game in an out of character moment setting the games plot into motion. Ellie now spends the game trying to find his killer and get revenge. The Last of Us 2 in many of its subverting expectation moments then has you play as Joels killer, Abby to lead up to the confrontation with Ellie. The two fight and Abby leaves them live after finding out Dina is pregnant. Ellie then decides to go after Abby again after Tommy guilt trips her and in the end lets Abby go. The game ends with Ellie letting Joel go and forgiving him. For me the main problem is Ellie has lost so much to Abby and in the end people died for nothing because the writers wanted to show how bad revenge is. An interesting idea but just poorly executed. Ellie is ready to kill Abby but after remembering forgiving Joel decides against it. I find it stupid and anti climatic that she would do this after what she put herself and her friends through. The writers clearly had a love for Abby and that bias showed throughout the game. She had all of the best moments gameplay wise and storywise got more interesting material. The one part of the story I really liked was the Lev/Yara and the Scars storyline. It was an interesting insight into another faction of the world and had some of the best moments gameplay wise. Riding on a horse from a burning settlement was one highlight. On the topic of gameplay this is the one place where the last of us 2 excells. It refines everything I loved from the first game and adds a couple of new mechanics like the prone ability. The environments are breathtaking and the collectibles really help build the world. There was nothing more satisfying than sneaking your way through a group of enemies silently picking them off one by one. The few boss fights the game offered were good but could be improved in future games but overall the gameplay was worth the price of admission alone. It is lacking the one thing that made the first so great, interesting characters and the characters from the first are either ruined or end up doing some stupid out of character moment to suffice the plot. The new characters are either boring or mildly interesting but overall are not up to the quality of this series. The game overall is not terrible but for a developer like Naughty Dog and a series like The Last of Us it is very dissapointing.… Expand

    First, changing the CGI of their facial expressions and body (in scenes    I really didn't enjoy this game. Sure, it has amazing graphics, improved mechanics compared to the previous one and better AI. But after loving the first game and have waited so long for a story of Ellie and Joel, or a story that is consistent with their personalities, we find out that ND choose to change most of it.
    First, changing the CGI of their facial expressions and body (in scenes from the previous game) to make Joel look more weak and naive, and Ellie who always was a smart kid, turned to be a girl with numb expressions, instead of a strong girl. Therefore, changing the way they look and act was a way to broke their personalities (see Ellie in the final scene of tlou 1).
    Secondly, the narrative was really bad, playing with the "villain" is not something new in games, but to play with such an uninterested person and encountering a lot of shallow others characters with side stories just to make us feel something or acknowledge their beliefs (rather than telling a good overall story) destroyed the narrative or whatever storyline that ND wants to tell.
    About the SJW stuff, we all know that people that don't like certain types of characters will be upset, but that is not in anyway the majority of people who is criticizing this game. We know based on the presentations and panels of NaughtyDog, that Neil Druckmann has a strong opinion to not allowed sexy females in their games, and promotes feminism and sexual diversity. The players understand that, we love Bill in the first game, we love left behind (DLC) and much more Ellie, because their sexuality was not the story, but was who they were in the story.
    Now, ND shifts the narrative on purpose to make us play a game that is not about Joel, Ellie or even revenge, but to be shocked about ideas: "acts have consequences", "revenge is bad", "females are strong", "diversity is good", etc..and the story of Joel and Ellie was just pushed aside and presented as an attractive way to make us buy the game.
    I understand that Neil Druckmann and ND are in the path to put ideas in games, and that is ok for players who wanna buy it. But to sell a story in one way (see trailers) and deliver in another way totally different that what was promised (too much scenes were altered just to sell it) is a really, really wrong way to promote your ideas; and spitting on characters and stories that we love, that is just a horrible move.

I am a massive fan of the first game, and I have played it several times until the second game was released. I spent countless hours before the games release watching videos about theories and speculations in the 2nd game, but my experience was completely different from what I had imagined. The performances from the actors were phenomenal, and the raw violence of every person Ellie murdered felt uncomfortable and animalistic. Ellie's journey of vengeance is eye candy for a psychology nerd like me, and Ellie’s troubled relationship with Joel showcased throughout the story made her revenge a Tale more intriguing. At the climax of the game, when Ellie was choking Abby, the Deuteragonist/antagonist of the story, was an emotional moment that personally affected me. Ellie's external hate towards Abby foiled with my internal hatred, as I try to forgive myself from the damage done by my depression. The game ultimately told a tale of forgiveness, and the cycle of revenge continues until one must break the chain, which often feels unsatisfied but necessary. Abby could have learned to forgive Joel, but her selfishness and failure for acceptance led to the degeneration of her social relationships and her physical body. Ellie was capable of forgiving people for their actions, as she forgave Joel for lying to her about the fireflies, and Abby, who killed her surrogate father out of blind retribution. Playing as Abby in the latter half of the story was difficult as first, as I had grown to despise her for murdering Joel, and later Jesse at the theater. But, I softened up for Abby as she protected Lev and Yara, as they were outclassed by the seraphites because Lev’s internal conflict with his gender identity, and his longing to become a brave soldier. Abby abandoned the WLF to protect Lev and becomes like a mother to him. I began to feel empathy for both characters, as they had motivations to protect others and survive. No one is good or bad in the last of us, instead, a million shades of gray. Joel slaughtered firefly doctors, and soldiers do save Ellie, who grew onto him as his daughter. Abby, who initially battled in a purposeless war with the seraphites, abandoned her old life to protect a young boy. Ellie, who despised Joel after lying to her, and a woman who took away that chance to make amends with her father, eventually learned to forgive them. Ellie is still like her younger self; she is capable of forgiveness, a non-emotion-existent in this world. Tdlr:
    The last of us part 2 left me feeling empty, saddened, but hopeful and bliss, as Ellie now can try to rebuild her life and make amends with her past. There are some minor flaws with pacing and that one sex scene, but the game left me wondering what happens after the credits?     Was very disappointed with the story and lack of replay value (even with a new game +), but the gameplay is pretty fun in parts, certain scenes are cinematically dramatic to great effect (even in the latter half), and the graphics throughout are comparable to RDR2. Lots of work went into this, but it feels much to waste, unfortunately.

    Este juego logró mejorar la el Gameplay y la atención al detalle es una barbaridad... En relación a la calidad gráfica y los detalles y lo pulido que está el Gamplay, es perfecto.
    Pero, al menos yo... odié cada segundo que jugué con Abby y la forma tan mediocre en que se mostró la muerte de Joel, la profundidad que le quisieron dar al personaje de Abby y el chiste de relación tipo paternal que consiguió con Yara y Lev, ¿Que es suficiente para perdonar al enemigo? ¿ Que te salven la vida? ¿Como lo hizo Joel? Al grado de traicionar al grupo que le dio cobijo y en el que se formó después de la caída de las luciérnagas. No se desarollo de buena manera su relación con esos dos niños, más que porque los quería... parecía ser solo un capricho el querer salvarlos, cuando murió Yara no hizo ni pio...
    Lo injustificadas que están todas las demás muertes, murieron todos los que no merecían morir como Owen y Mel, y Abby que fue la verdadera razón de toda la cruzada que se lleva a cabo a medio juego, porque la otra mitad nos hicieron juzgarla con Abby que realmente toda su actitud es desesperante.. sale com vida realmente sin ninguna justificación.

    As for the game itself... it's bad. It doesn't respect your intelligence, it doesn't respect the original game, it doesn't even respect itself. All good storytelling was thrown out the window in favor of pushing the "woke" agenda and coddling the directors ego. The gameplay can still be fun, it's basically more of the same that you'd expect from the first game, but the writers obvious disdain for fans of the original game make it an unbearable experience for anyone who once loved it.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
