The graphics are beautiful. The scenery is well depicted and animation is smooth.

However, there are two areas that kill the experience. The linear ‘no choice’ gameplay. You don’t make any moral choices, nothing impacts outcomes. Whatever you do has no effect on the story or whichever character you are playing. This game deserves to be an open world epic in the style of the Witcher. If you wanted to make people think about actions and consequences you should have been able to make moralistic choices and seen a variety of outcomes. Ideally, you should have been able to play as a variety of characters in a big open world and seen how their stories intertwined with multiple endings that are created by your choices. Instead we are bludgeoned over the head with a needlessly nihilistic story that allows the player only to react to choices made by the designer.

The representation with the game is a bold choice but poorly handled. It feels like a checklist of minority groups and therefore tokenism. The violence and sexual scenes add nothing but provocation to less open minded people and they devalue the experience as a whole. Overall, it’s a AAA game with mechanics from 2014 and a storyline that gives players no choice but to be preached at rather than organically evolve their own morality. In short it’s a $15 one time experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The gameplay and graphics are the only thing I will give any points towards. The fact that they bastardize and retcon the story from TLOU1 in INEXCUSABLE. Characters completely forget the knowledge they display in the first game, then through plot induced stupidity, act completely out of character. Both Ellie and Joel are victims of this heinous betrayal of common sense.

At no point did i feel sympathy towards Abby and every time I had to play as her I rushed as much as possible to get to Ellie, even though she continues to do more and more out of character actions.

For a game that constantly beats the concept of "REVENGE/MURDER IS BAD" and then FORCES you to murder people without any choice is not excusable.

On top of it, the game trailers and promises from the dev's are NO WHERE to be found. We were told that you would not have to harm an animal yet, you kills dogs like they were fodder. Scenes showing Joel were ripped out of the game and replaced with another disposable male character (Jesse) whom also gets killed off.

While the gameplay is fun, the story makes the game a complete chore. If you skip the cut scenes and any lore, it makes the game even worse and you are constantly reminded of the garbage you are playing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So listen to me to clarify what is happening. Although I didn't like the end of the game either, the rest of the game is a masterpiece. The story is different. It's a story of revenge and it gives you everything in a brutally violent way. Wouldn't it be boring to be like the previous one? Again, it's not easy to make a game like the first one. For those who were also did not like what happened and Ellie got angry, something important had to be done to make the game exist. So those of you who want to buy it keep in mind that the gameplay, although similar to the previous one, is very good, in terms of sound and graphics and the story and the whole theme of the game is a little darker so don't expect most moments to be happy. .

Also (spoiler) if you think about it those who say that the end of the game does not make sense and that it cancels everything that Ellie did and in the first what happened? They intended to go to the Fireflies and hand over Ellie for treatment, but this did not happen.

Also, those of you who ask about whether Multiplayer is worth it, you don't get the last of us for the multiplayer mode, but for the campaign.

I think the expectations destroyed the rating of the game. And the thing is that if you do not like the story doesn't mean that the game is trash and doesn't mean it deserves 3.9 rating

It's been almost a week after finishing the game and I'm still devastated and traumatized. Crying in random moments.
The Last Of Us was one of my favourite games. They should have left the title alone? Idk. It had a perfect ending. Could have been so much better even with the same story but some changes in the way things were presented or happened.

The first half I was definitely on Joel's and Elly's side, but this all changes after discovering the past of Abby and her family and friends. "There are two sides of a coin" never felt so apt.

The only thing I don't enjoy was, that the game often felt long, it took too much time for the essential story.

I’m sure the vast majority have seen the leaks or have had it spoiled for them by now, and straight away I want to say, do not let these spoilers steer you away from playing this game. This game has to be played to properly appreciate this work of art.
The story is a gut-wrenching, heart-breaking, and devastating journey that after 25 hours of playing, I didn’t want it to end. The structure of this story is a complex and ambitious approach from Neil Druckmann and co in attempting to take the player on a spiritual journey across the world of TLOU with our characters. Naughty Dog created a story that would continuously test the players emotions throughout the entirety of the game, and often leave the player feeling completely torn between what is right and wrong, whether they agree with the actions of a character, or even to an extent, making the player themselves question their own beliefs and emotions and impose guilt on them for their actions in a video game. Naughty Dog have perfected the art of putting the player into the characters shoes. You are Ellie. You are setting out on this seemingly blood-searching mission of revenge.

The games story is told in many ways. One of these ways is the incredibly emotional and soul-destroying flashbacks to previous events throughout the characters life. These flashbacks perfectly tell the story of the characters you encounter throughout the game and provide perfect understanding as to why they feel and act the way they do. Often the game would leave you wondering, what happened there? Why is this character acting like that? How did this character reach this position? And well, the flashbacks in this game perfectly explain every bit of that. Admittedly, some flashbacks can often be seen to be in the wrong place in terms of the timeline of the game. Some flashbacks may have had a greater impact if they were told in a different order, however this does not take away the fact that ND’s use of flashbacks is a spectacular achievement. These sequences are an incredible nod back to the previous game, which anyone who played and loved the first game are happy to see and hear.

Naughty Dog have once again mastered the art of fast paced sequences that leave the player on the edge of their seat, and yet again perfected those slower, more emotional moments of bonding and growth between the characters. These are those special gaming moments that stay with you long after you have completed this game.

The story of The Last of Us Part 2 is a complicated emotional and spiritual journey told by a range of extensive storytelling and structural devices which can cause this game to be seen as messy. However, the sheer complexity of the story Neil Druckmann is trying to tell has to be approached with an open mind. Let the story play out, let Naughty Dog take you on this path they have created for us to discover and follow. This game is not your standard video game story. This is the sort of story you would expect to see in a classic novel or a blockbuster movie, this is not a simple story of revenge, this is not what you expect it to be. Just to quote the words of Girlfriend Reviews on YouTube, the plot and the story are two completely different things. The plot is the main idea of where the game will take you and what it will follow throughout. The story however is each individual character’s journey along the way and how we reach the ultimate plot goal. Simply put, on the surface the plot may be seen as simple, however the story is the complex artistic creation that lays underneath, and that is the part that should be truly appreciated across the entire gaming community.
This is a story of redemption, soul searching and the everlasting cycle of violence and where violence and obsession leads you. This game was designed to be uncomfortable to play, this isn’t just your standard video game, this is a story and Naughty Dog wants you to listen. This game will teach you lessons, and if by the end of it you haven’t learn anything, then you haven’t beaten the game, the game has beaten you.

The Last of Us Part 2 is a masterpiece. Albeit does have its flaws just like any other story may have, this game is an outstanding achievement in both design and storytelling like no other we have seen on this generation. This game will change the way you think and will completely alter your perceptions of any other game you will ever play. The Last of Us Part 2 is a must play, there is no other way about it. Don’t just take my word for it, play it for yourself and see.
One thing is for sure, the PlayStation 4 is signing off in style.
To Naughty Dog, Sony and all who worked on this game: Thank you. The Last of Us Part 2 (2020), Final Score: 9.7/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last Of Us's strength was derived primarily from the relationship forged between Ellie and Joel; everything else was secondary. Somehow, TLOU Part 2 seems astoundingly unaware of this. Joel's death, although potentially a fine decision either later in the game or in a subsequent sequel, was a poor choice that immediately massively negatively impacted the game. Having to play as Abby during the first few hours, with it being very clear that she was going to kill Joel, was a devastatingly bad move, and I found myself letting her get caught by the zombies in a hopeless bid to spare Joel.

Character development was disappointingly poor. Ellie became a character that, by the end, I actually hated more than Abby. Her disregard for the welfare of her friends and her girlfriend paints a character who is deeply selfish, psychopathic, and not fun to play as: when I play a game, I don't want to feel like a bad person. I didn't want to make the decisions the game forced me to make, and when the game finally ended, after several false stops, I was left feeling desolate and depressed, with the one silver lining being that it was finally over. For the first time in my life i immediately uninstalled the game, gave my dog a hug, and traded the game in. I had no desire to play this game again, given how it made me feel.

The game certainly isn't all bad; indeed there are some fantastic parts (such as the level set in the outbreak 'ground zero'), the score works very well, and fine detail is great (such as the weapon modification animations), however the negatives outshine the positives. Dialogue was weak, with too much spoken explicitly and too little relying on nuance, and many things that occurred seemed to have been written just so the story could continue in the direction of the ending the writers wanted. Different parts feel disjointed, much of it feels disorganised, and some parts are far too long and boring. The degree of graphic violence was genuinely shocking, exhausting and entirely unneccessary, and I found myself having to look away from quite a few parts (I felt sorry for the animators). Perhaps most importantly, having to play the game as a character you are inevitably going to have little rapport with due to her actions in the first few hours was a gamble that did not pay off. Although I ended up favouring Abby, it wasn't because I felt sorry for her per se, but rather because I hated her just a little bit less than the monster Ellie had become.

However the game is let down massively by uneven pacing, poor writing and mixed level design that really spoil what is on offer here.

The elephant in the room: It's no secret that this game had big boots to fill and this series in particular lives on it's story which is in a word quite terrible. The plot has several prominent convenient and immersion breaking plot holes and conveniences that fail to really give a valid reason for it's existence. The characters are poor and do not reflect the excellent character building from the last game and almost deliberately seek to tear them down in a way that is hollow and unfulfilling. Some new characters are good but on the whole most are shallow and not likeable with little core to them that would build the empathy the game attempts. This game can be fun but it is massively overshadowed by this due to it's heavy story focus. There is a bold decision halfway through that makes little sense in how it was excuted. This game would score significantly higher (7-8) if the story was given a directors cut that interspersed the stories with each-other at the same time.

Gameplay wise it's more refined and open but again suffers from poor pacing and some areas of really quite awful level design which appears to get worse as the title progressed. You can see at the beginning that they wanted to expand the scope but this is replaced later on by increasingly linear hallway type levels that don't expand the series in any meaningful way.

Combat too is refined, but is more of the same and is not really improved beyond some elements of stealth and does little to further the genre.

Sound is excellent, graphics are great. This on paper could have been a masterpiece but unfortunately it was executed poorly. It is not a bad game and it's not a masterpiece.

I would recommend renting this or waiting for it to go on sale. If you do not like depressing content or really enjoyed the first for it's story I would probably give this a miss entirely.

There are many things about human nature we struggle against. We see what we want to see. We acquire our beliefs and perspectives from the people and the world around us.

The Last of Us Part II illuminates many complicated and difficult facets of humanity – a journey that tackles empathy, anger, and how we are defined by those around us. These philosophical considerations can be uncomfortable to wrestle with, but Naughty Dog conveys them with careful nuance and unflinching emotion, creating a narrative masterpiece with a unique power few games have ever achieved.

The story opens with a conversation about how the first game ended – about what Joel did at the Firefly hospital, and the lie he told Ellie about it. That exchange lays the foundation for the current state of their complicated relationship, which players come to understand even more deeply as the story continues. Holed up in an encampment in Jackson, Wyoming, Ellie and Joel are trying to come to terms with the consequences of their previous actions, and the world continues to suffer from the chaos of the infection that has transformed mankind and ravaged civilization.

The Last of Us Part II is defined by its story at every turn, and Naughty Dog masterfully weaves its themes in at every level. It depicts the raw violence that Ellie uses to navigate this harsh world, and that violence feeds into pivotal plot points during her quest for revenge. Yes, you kill many humans and Infected along the way, but the accumulated effect of Ellie’s fury weighs on you over time. Even as you clear an area of hostile guards, you question your own role in the brutality. The people you assassinate have names, and you can overhear them talking about their loved ones as you sneak up on them. Though it’s difficult to say that this is “fun,” the way The Last of Us Part II forges this level of investment and immersion is one of its greatest strengths.

The chaotic, post-apocalyptic overlay creates the perfect opportunity for different factions to vie for power. In addition to the zombie-like Infected, you also fight the militarized WLF and the technology-averse Seraphites. You deal with all these groups in intense encounters that blend sneaking and shooting in varied and unpredictable ways. Ellie’s increased agility lets you jump, crawl, and vault through areas and take advantage of verticality, but the biggest improvement to combat is the way the world pushes you to play. Stealth is always rewarded, and you can control the battlefield with clever use of your resources, especially in the larger environments. I knew I made a mistake when I died, and I felt satisfaction when I skillfully handled a situation

Environments tell their own stories of those who became infected. People waiting for their families to return, soldiers hunting deserters, and patients seeking treatment – you piece together these tragic and fascinating tales by reading notes and interpreting clues in the world. From a more practical standpoint, exploring every area is important for gathering resources used to craft items and upgrade talents like faster crawling and improved awareness. Almost every corner has something to find, and I felt rewarded for digging through drawers and searching every room. Going into an empty store, it was easy to feel for the characters in this world who had their lives upended. And as much as gaming can be an escape, the state of the real world right now provides a lens that is difficult to ignore; I never thought seeing the remains of a bookstore or a restaurant would hit harder due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they did

The production values that Naughty Dog brings to this experience are second to none. The characters don’t only look good – they look real, complete with quirks that make them more believable as humans. The world and its inhabitants are visually stunning, with artwork and animations you will see just once, quips and conversations that make the world feel alive, and a soundtrack and sound effects that brought chills to my spine. Low hums and water dripping on empty bottles add to the tension as you navigate the perils of the world

I can rave about the attention to detail, the world, and the combat, but the story is where The Last of Us Part II sets a new bar. It is more about challenging your heart than your reflexes, and I simply cannot recommend it enough. There is much to be said about this game that can’t be said here due to spoilers, but you should play it as soon as you can with as little info as possible. But you don’t need to know specifics to appreciate how the gameplay and environmental cues all play into a single purpose: They make you feel the choices, helplessness, and the violence at the heart of this world and its characters. I can safely say this is the best narrative game I have played. I felt the confusion. It is a game that turned me inside out with each twist of the screw.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was wary going into this game as I'd seen so much noise on social media and youtube about the plot and Naughty Dogs behaviour around release, but I was determined to ignore all that and make my own mind up. Here is the long story short - if you liked the way the first game played and looked - you'll like this one. They haven't done anything revolutionary with the mechanics etc, and the game looks amazing - the ruined seattle and santa location really immerse you into the desolate destroyed world. That being said, it did become a bit samey with just either stealthing or shooting your way through alternating hordes of people, or infected. With the odd added dog or shambler to mix it up. The story I felt a bit let down - the pacing of the game was weird, jumping around in the memories of backwards/forwards/backwards/forwards was clever...but just took me out of the immersion a bit. I like the way they brought the new groups in - the WLF, and Scars...but the newer characters that had any kind of role just felt a bit "throwaway" if that makes sense? Naughty Dog obviously set out to make a fairly gritty shocking game, and they succeeded..but at the detriment of having a good solid story which newer players to the genre could have loved. As I played on and got to the 20+ hour mark, I started to get a bit bored of the same grind and just wanted to speed through sections as fast as poss to progress the story. All in...this had huge potential, but it just didnt quite live up to my expectations (having loved the first game). I hope they do better if there is a 3rd installment. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall I think this is a really great game but it has some weaknesses and frustrating aspects - and I am not overly sure on the overall message/story that Naughty Dog decided to go with. Major spoilers below.

I'm in the camp that really enjoyed the narrative switch and being able to play as Abby. They changed the gameplay slightly in terms of the weapons available to her and how physical she is which kept the general feel fresh and that was important as the game overall can feel a bit stale sometimes because of repetition (puzzle, infected, people, puzzle, infected, people, set piece etc.). So I enjoyed that switch and I also thought as a narrative device it does work. I have to say that playing as Abby, I like her. I don't forgive her but I do like her, and mostly I wanted both Ellie and Abby to survive for the people in their lives more than any forgiveness for the things they have done. Both Dina and Lev are great supporting characters in my opinion and they're the main reason I want our main playable characters to end the cycle of revenge.

The weaknesses of the game come from some of the repetitive gameplay in my opinion. I also think that the AI are unforgiveably stupid at times, although in saying that I only played it on moderate difficulty for my first run through.

My main issue though comes from the relentless bleakness and the game seemingly implicating you, the player, in the horror and brutal torture that is meted out by the main playable characters. The game doesn't force us to kill Joel or Jesse, but it does force us to torture Nora, to try and kill both Ellie and Dina, and in that final beach battle it forces the player to fight regardless of how you might feel about it. I know it isn't an open-ended game, Naughty Dog aren't creating a "choose your own story" narrative, and that's ok - but I resent the game forcing us to make that step as well as the characters.

I also wonder about the narrative choice - there are no good people in this world (or so it seems). This sort of links up to my above point but when you enter a situation where there are people, there is seemingly no option other than to kill them all (or stealth your way through to avoid them). There is no situation where you just meet other people, are wary of them, but carry on. In fact the game starts with Joel and Tommy saving someone, and Joel is killed for it. The only other time a stranger is saved is when Lev and Yara cut Abby down - and that starts a path of change for Abby. But the entire world outside of that is horrific, and the optimist in me just refuses to believe that in the post-apocalypse, you would only find one or two slivers of light amongst hundreds and thousands of people.

However, really this is just a gripe with the overall world view of the game. It's not an issue I have with the story that was told within that world, and it didn't take away from involvement in the story. I'm still giving the game a positive review overall: even if you disagree with the narrative decisions, I think it's well worth playing all the way through.

You just took and mixed my favorite characters with dirt. In this story, Ellie is a maniac with a split personality. Joel is an antihero guilty of all the misery of the world.
Abby .. From Abby you made the perfect all-forgiving character who is forced to empathize by squeezing a tear from the player.
Side characters are faceless and have no open story. However, like all the surroundings in this game.
Why didn’t you open the gang war? Why didn’t you reveal the relationship between Abby and Owen? Why didn’t you reveal your relationship with Dina?
All that is in this game is an incredibly beautiful picture and a bunch of questions about what is happening.
You say that the players did not understand the idea? No, this bad plot could not convey any idea. You wanted to show the story from different angles, but it didn’t work out. The second part of the game is long and not interesting. The gameplay moments remained the same and simply do not work as part of the passage for Abby and the turns in the story are very predictable.
But the saddest thing is the end .. It would be better if you let Ellie finish the job. The plot would come to a logical conclusion.
    But you ruined that too.
So, all that this game has left is frustration, resentment and emptiness.
Of course I do not regret the money spent because this is the most beautiful game I have seen. Animations, graphics are all great. But this is not enough. First of all, I was waiting for a great plot, but I got nothing.

Now I really wished I had just read about those and made a hard pass on this game. Huge fan the first game. The story and the characters just melded together to make something truly special. However, that does not work with this title. The story and the characters in this game are awful and stupid to the point where I would not be surprised if they did get infected at some point between the first and second and their brain started to deteriorate. Okay without spoilers think of near the end of Batman V Superman where Batman doesn’t kill Superman’s because both of their mothers names were Martha and they suddenly became best friends after fighting each other nearly the whole movie. The only reason this game is not a zero is because the graphics, sound and gameplay are really good. If your in it for the story just go watch a let’s play and save the money for something better like Ghost of Tsushima. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spoiler free part: I really don't understand why so many people are trashing this game. I loved it from start to finish, felt emotionally attached to the characters throughout, loved the storyline, and of course the gameplay. Gameplay is very similar to TLOU1 with a few more mechanics, so if you loved the first one and feel ready for a different experience with plenty of surprises, pick up the game! It will be a rollercoaster!

    More details - Spoilers ahead:

Most people complain about Joel's fate, but I thought that was a great piece of writing. After what happened in TLOU 1 it's only natural that people want to hunt him down. It was hard to watch, but hey, that's TLOU. This sets in motion a revenge story that sees Ellie spiral more and more until you can't recognise her anymore. Again, people say that they missed the quirky young Ellie, but hey, that's the point I guess. She loses it.

Then you get to play Abby (again loads of people are pissed off that she doesn't look like a "classic" girl. Get over yourselves and play the damn game!). People seem to struggle to empathise with her apparently, but I loved playing her and as her story unravels I got more and more attached to her. In the final confrontation I was begging Ellie not to kill her. I definitely felt as emotional playing n°2 as I did playing °1. I guess people expected another beautiful Joel and Ellie adventure, but for me, this was way better and succeeded in creating another amazing story.

9/10 - Removed a star because gameplay hasn't evolved much and it was a bit repetitive. Also felt that the game was a little too politically correct, going a bit overboard on the LGBTQ trans stuff. I have no problem with that of course, but it was so present that I was pulled out of the game and started thinking about how political the studio was getting.

Thank you to everyone who worked hard to ensure that the game looked as perfect as it could have.

The only thing I didn't completely love was the gameplay. It's pretty much the same as the first and I hated the task of rummaging around environments to salvage supplies and collectables. It takes up so much time and it's so boring walk along every empty store shelf while mashing triangle to pick up anything you happen to intersect with. There's an accessibility setting which helps make this a little bit easier, but it's still morbidly time-consuming. I'm certain the game would be 30% shorter if we didn't have to do something so mundane.

Now, here's where your opinion may differ from mine: I loved the story. It's clear that they took a huge risk with it. They really could have just played it safe and followed the theme of the first title, but decided to take a different route which nobody expected. It's pretty clear from the reviews that fans are completely split on that decision. Personally, I did not expect to be sent on such a roller coaster and I enjoyed the ride from start to finish. Definitely a breath of fresh air compared to other sequels with predictable and redundant plots. With a series like this, you just can't please everyone. Some folks will never forgive Naughty Dog what they did to the story. But hopefully, they'll like to try.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A divisive game for sure, but one that possibly deserves every bit emotion it generates. This is a story of vengeance and loss that affects not only the characters but the player themselves.

From the beginning we are presented with the hardest truth a fan of the first game must realize: Joel has been tortured and killed, viciously and unapologetically, in front of Ellie. The trauma from this event scars her, but it also scars us. We feel the anger and hatred because Joel was important to us. The first game cemented our connection, ND being amazing at what they do, and they use that to elicit the kind of emotions they want from you. In this case legitimately feeling revenge and hate was the point. To make you ACTUALLY feel. This game was designed to be terrible and sad and feeling these things proves that the developers succeeded in their goals.

Gameplay and mechanics are essentially a given at this point, again masters of their craft, so the story is the only thing left to even consider. The grief and hurt from these events are channeled into the game, pushing you to find Abby and make her pay for what she's done. Make some sense of the callous and quick nature of the murder of a beloved father figure. We want to make the pain go away. We need to deal with the grief.

But that grief is never resolved. Revenge never truly sated. The reality of the futility of the pursuit of vengeance crystallized in a way I've never seen before. It is an experience you don't often get to have and it's told in a way that respects and reinforces the connections made in the first game.

Play this yourself. Get angry. FEEL. And take in the beautiful tragedy. One of the most thought-provoking and visceral games I have EVER played. Thank you Naughty Dog, you bastards.

this game is an absolute MASTERPIECE. Naughty Dog not only took risks, but they showed courage in making you feel uncomfortable and double think who you really think is the good person. gameplay, story, the overall feel is OUTSTANDING. this is next level gaming, perfect way to get us ready for next gen. i LOVED it. GOTY, might be the game of the generation. (ps4)

Visually stunning and the music is great.
Unfortunately, the Storytelling and was bad.
The slow pacing makes this game boring.
Maybe if the timeline was linear it would have been more entertaining.
My biggest issues with the game are the traversal and in-game sound design.
However, the AI is the best AI in any third person shooter game.

This game is seriously one of the most disappointing games of this generaton. Not only is this a depressing game but I seriously dont even care for how much they try and make you empathize with a murderer childish character like abby was. To make matters worse the director and writers are saying F the haters to people who dislike the game. Real mature of you guys I hope sony fires these horrible people and replace them with people who can actually make a game like the first. Horrible sequel to a masterpiece that was the first. This game doesnt even compare. I hope naughty dog goes under 4 million sales dont mean a thing lets talk about the returns and how they refuse to refund Expand

Все, кто срутся на сюжет, я вас правда не понимаю. Игра очень хорошо сделана, мне понравился геймплей, детализация игры, а больше всего сюжет.

It can have all the great gameplay and graphics you want, but if the story is bad and disrespectful like this, it's a 0 for me.

Incredible atmosphere. Which covers all the disadvantages of the game. An extraordinary feeling after going through longing and sadness that lasts for a long time. I don't know how the developers achieved this, but it's incredible. A similar feeling I experienced only after passing Mafia 1. This game has a soul, the best corridor game of the last 10 years.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only reason I'm giving a five is because that score is meant for the Naughty Dog team who did all the wonderful work in combat, puzzles and visuals and not the story writing/screenplay. The story gets a ZERO from me and hence the score is FIVE. This game is an excellent example of how a game can be ruined if there's no proper story to tell. Even the stunning visuals couldn't save it from the plotholes, bad character depiction and insulting storytelling that was shown. The writer did no character justice - Ellie, Joel, Tommy, Abby - none of them were relatable. The former 3 had completely different personalities compared to part 1 and Abby's story should have been kept at first so that she can be relatable.
Other plot holes were the unrealistic demonstration of including a pregnant woman in combat, unrealistic body figures for women, men showing callousness during combat way more than they actually do, showing women as weak and unable to kill the last person they should let go even though she has killed SO MANY people shows that this game hates both men and women.

The image of LGB community was also shown really bad, the image they are trying to portray was so frivolous and mindless. This is not how LGB community is, just because they love the same sex or two sex does not mean that they have no morals or good ideals. They have been portrayed so disgustingly that people will feel like discriminating against them even more, thanks to this game.

Transgenderism is a thing that exists during our times because people are not trying to survive, they are just living without care in the world. In a post apocalyptic scenario, no one would be thinking whether they "feel" like a man or woman, everyone is trying hard to survive here and such things will not even cross their mind.

The story and scene setting is so unrealistic, it's as if nothing had been thought through and the writer just wanted to sell a game for money and not because he loves TLOU1.

This game is one of the worst games for me because
    1) A game is made because you have a story in mind, didn't seem like that case with this one.
    2) A game is made to detox you from the world so that you can face the real world again, this game didn't help me do that...hell it's not even a game, this story would have done better if it were a movie.

Very disappointed at the writers in Naughty Dog.

What a huge disappointment with the story don’t buy they don’t deserve your money most depressing meaningless story I’ve experienced in a game. The gameplay graphics and sound is amazing it really is a shame that the writers ruined the entire game for me 0/10

Cinematic masterpiece. Everything from graphics to acting and even gameplay makes this game one of a kind. Even if the pacing is lacking in some chapters, the overall experience is very impactful. It's a game that will stay with you long after completion.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
