Listen, if you loved the first game DO NOT PLAY THIS, The Last Of Us 2 might have great visuals and cool combat but it ruins everything that have to do with the story, this game has no respect for the fans nor the subject matter,the writers just wanted to do their own stupid thing, so they kill Joel, "OK fine" i say almost in tears, "let's see where they go with it, it is interesting" I say, but it actually is soo stupid, I don't want to spoil more, if you haven't played the first one play this and you will have real fun with it but to all the fans of the original delete this game from your mind, think that it is not cannon, think it as an alternative universe, because, and I am sad to say it for game I was waiting for 7 years, it is trash, this game should not exist, and for those that will say"but it is marvelous, a technical standpoint.... " yes it is, but the last of is the STORY, the characters, the relationships, not the graphics or the combat, graphics and combat ARE GOOD, but it is still trash. I would also like to talk about the ending to this piece of **** called The Last of Us Part 2, Ellie has been through soo much, SOO MUCH, and she does not kill Abbie(woman Kratos), WHY WHY DO THIS, she kills so many people across her journey fo revenge and at the end she doesn't get revenge, WHY, I am not angry, no, I am just disappointed, I almost jumped from my balcony with this ending, fans of the first, please don't do this to yourselves, play something else, not this, please.... Gameplay is improved upon from the first game but doesn’t blow me away as game changing. The infected AI makes them more annoying than scary or interesting puzzles at the very least. Human AI is better, especially at higher difficulties. This is a must play, even if Joel is killed in the beginning (it’s justified, still horrible, but justified).… Expand

The truth is that the last of us 2, whether you like it or not, is one of the best games available in 2020, of course, not all of this is based on the story of the same game, it could have disappointed many, since they expected something great to will beat the first par thing that from the beginning is almost impossible to do, since the first game is literally part of the culture of the gaming world, the story itself would give an 8.7, this teaches you how cruel people are and that not always they do what you want, example of how ellie does not kill abby, many would simply say that she should have killed her the person who played the game doesn't really know how Ellie really feels, and how her life changed to have to make that decision, but let's say the story was terrible, horrible and not worth it, I think that if this will happen, the game of anyway it would have a rating above 8, the team that was in charge of making this jewel of virtual realism are geniuses, very rarely do we see a game that makes you feel that you are in it,This game by itself without the story shines, and this shows, the bad reviews that this game has are only from people who hate history, a game is not only based on this, the gameplay is amazing, the setting is incredible and its realism is scary, I feel that people get carried away by the reviews of the streamers who barely touch the game, if at least they tried it for a moment they would know that it is a great game which was overshadowed by the first tlou… Expand

    Good visual, music. I think many people(who make 10 or 0 review) arent fair, because this game is middle, not best, not worst. Why? Because long tedious start and no choosing in the game. Authors forgot, about differences of game and movie, tv series. In game I want to give my part in the story, but tlou2 dont give it. Many fans didnt forgive Abby and me too.

    Game looks great and the music is fitting. But for me the story is forced and not that good . I found myself not really interest in the characters like i did in the first game which i still play and love . This game is over all get boring and drags . I found myself leaving it and coming back after playing other games. I wont be interested in a third game.

Sometimes giving people what they don't want can be a good thing i.e. Darksouls, but this is the equivalent of paying for bread and getting a handful of crap. A lamentable story drives an actually decent game into the dirt and deeper to bedrock and into the void for an experience that feels miserable, unfulfilling and absolutely disgraceful. So unless you want to be insulted over a 20 hour movie, don't touch this with a 10 foot pole.    … Expand

    Everything either meets or exceeds the last game in terms of gameplay and brutality. I and many consider the first game one of the best games of all time. But the story unfortunately left much to be desired and with that I'm never putting blind trust behind any gaming studio again, l should have trusted the user reviews.

    This game is single-handedly the greatest piece of media I have ever consumed. Nothing else has torn me so much and given me so many different emotions throughout the experience. There were moments where I hated what I was doing, and that is exactly what the game wanted you to feel.     Absolutely blown away by this game. Ive never been so engaged for 40 hrs in my life since TLOU 1. Outstanding storytelling, brutal nerve racking gameplay, emotional as hell, its got it all. Started a 2nd playthrough and its actually crazy how much you can pick up on things that i hadn't realized i missed on the 1st playthrough that, it actually makes more and more sense the 2nd go round.Absolutely blown away by this game. Also why does Abby exist does she need to. Simple answer no she is the most uninteresting character since the spoon from skyrim.     I heard a joke about people having trouble getting the "good" ending in tloup2. The joke was the "bad" ending rhey kept getting...is the only one.

    But no one is laughing because this could and should have been an easy win for naughty dog. But they decided to do something different. Different is great but risky.     Sadly eveything else is awesome from sound to graphics to gameplay. Amazing stuff. But the story and focus and pace and the feeling you have when it's all over ....is unpleasant. The game makes you feel ill. Sad...And angry but at the devs...not the clever writing.

    Buy it on sale and decide for yourself. 6/10 maybe 7 but not at full price and not when the devs keep behaving like spoilt children.    … Expand

    Loaned from a friends to test and see if i would buy it.Realized i would not buy it so i decided to finish it so i could have a fair opinion on it.Can safely say it was one of, if not THE worst political drivel(that its NOT a GAME)i had the great displeasure to experience.There is no way i would allow a child of mine to play this bag of trash.Shameful.

Solo que hubiera sido perfecto si la historia de Ellie y Abby se hubieran mezclado más que jugar 10 horas con una y 10 horas con otra, así hubiera sido más fácil de llevar. Igual fue confusa la muerte de Joel al menos que hubiera llegado a un 25% del juego habría sido genial, pero el hecho de que el ya no estuviera siento que fue un buen giro argumentativo dentro de la trama, la historia es interesante pero muy extensa. Eso si recalcó que ese pequeño mundo abierto que tuvimos en la ciudadela fue perfecto y me agrado que por un momento no fuera una historia lineal . En todo caso un juego con una trama como esa no se podría hacer como mundo abierto, pero esa mini ciudad me encanto. Los easter-eggs sutiles pero entendibles. No es un juego perfecto pero si lo suficiente mente Bueno para una nota 8. 8/10.… Expand

    Tecnicamente indiscutivel, trama proposta muito bem amarrada e contada, porém não gostei do rumo que a franquia tomou, ao finalizar o game, não sinto o gosto de quero mais, falando sobre a história, no caso. Mas é uma obra prima e vale a pena ser jogado, sem dúvidas.

    Absolutely stunning game. The gameplay has been upgraded and refined when compared to the first game and it plays extremely smooth. The story is thought provoking, intense and really well written. I enjoyed the game from start to finish. The story may go in unexpected directions but I promise if you stick with it and give it a chance, you will get to play one of the best games of the generation.

    Storytelling falls so short of its original mark, only shining in the briefest of glimpses throughout, but prove weak in comparison to dragging misery the rest of the game offers.

    Additional and old characters are poor here and hard to care about, whether their decision making or lack of anything exciting to their story, I personally found myself rooting for absolutely nobody. So what was the point? Animal violence was messed up as well.

    No value in revisiting, and severely damages the firsts replay value as well. Shocking... just an absolute horror show and I am sadly disappointed to have to fallout of love with what was one of my favourite franchises. and    … Expand

I was bored playing this by about half way and that’s something I never thought I’d say about a Naughty Dog game. By the final third I just wanted it over with so I could sell it. I didn’t mind that at first but after the 50th time sneaking around enemies it became robotic apart from a couple of exceptions. People praising this game for including lesbians, transgenders etc are missing the point. The story falls flat, they tried to be smart, daring and produce something shocking for the sake of being shocking but overall it’s totally dull and such a depressing game to play. If I anything I thought it was too violent! Something I never thought I’d say.

    If you liked the first one you’ll love this. Better in every way! Don’t listen to the haters, I doubt they’ve even played the game. I’ve played it through twice now and loved it. It’s a bit on the long side, but it mixes up the action and story really well so doesn’t get boring. It’s slow at the beginning, but once it gets going it’s amazing.

It's wrenching, and difficult, and challenging, but fundamentally is about people trying to work through difficult emotions in a world that fosters violence but ultimately, doesn't reward violence.     The third act of the game was rushed, it felt like a DLC they decided to slap on there as a "BUT WAIT THAT'S NOT THE END". The pacing was bad, it went too fast, and by the end, you didn't really care about anyone. it's like when you get a fantastic director and cinematographer to film an absolutely horrible script. It's beautiful, but won't get you back to watch again.

    Overall it was very disappointing. The engine and gameplay is a marvel to behold, the story is contrived, has unnecessary filler shoved in to either extend gameplay or to provide opportunities to have us like characters more, but it just failed at providing any compelling story.    … Expand

It is profoundly emotional and real within the story line, cinematic cuts, characters, graphics, details. Loved the dialogues a lot, they were so natural and specific. Not just boring talks, but very human-like, peculiar. Body movements and facial expressions are attentively built. Locations.

    My favourite characters are Dina and Ellie, partially bcs I am a gay woman myself and the depiction of their relationship was very tender and caring, not vulgar, as it can be often shown in media and massmarket content.
    The game is criticised for this kind of ending, but I believe this is one of the best one. It is not trivial. It doesn't have to be liked, nor to be agreed with. It is as it is. Revenge doesn't have to be finalized with a murder, but it's about the emotional release, that Ellie had experienced. Human nature is not linear and predictable.

    There is on open ending. We can come up with our version. I would choose the one where Ellie comes back to Dina and they hug firmly and live happily. That's it.

    To sum up - it is a masterpiece, a novel in a game form. Deeply sensual, irritating in the best ways, thoughts provoking, philosophical.

    The game is one of the best I have played. The story broke my heart and it could be different. But it isn't, so they wanted to show us a story, a really hard story. But it is the story and it's Okey. I can live with it. Maybe I was going to enjoy with other story. Perhaps I would prefer playing with Ellie all the game or that Joel can be alive and we can see him taking care Ellie. At least a few hours or a chapter. Because, we waited 7 years to can see him. And it's hard to support a game without our main character, the best character I played. But it's what they wanted to show us. So we have to play it and live with it because it's only a game. The most important game, in my opinion. But I can live with it. Again, in my opinion, all the people who made the game deserve we accept their job and we have to say thank them

Si aujourd’hui nous devons accepter des scénarios aussi longuet sous prétexte de leur ouverture d’esprit je préfère refuser de jouer. Une mention spéciale pour le chapitre avec Joel où Elie mets les écouteurs lors du décollage de la fusée, j’ai lâché ma larme, un grand moment de jeu vidéo. Malheureusement le seul. I am full of admiration that they had enough courage to create something like that.

    Easy 10/10 - people only need time to appreciate what ND did. Other piece of works, such as the heart of darkness or apocalypse now, were initially criticized by audiences or/and critics, and are now considered masterpieces. I feel like the same will happen with TLOU2.    … Expand

I find it complete rubbish, everyone who qualifies the game as evil, homophobic haters, and hurt fans who believe this is a fantasy game, the game is so complex in the psychological part, shows the reality in the crap world we are, these people expected people, iconic characters to die Tony Stark, and sorry my skies so was not and so is not real life, hide in their absurd fantasies and their cheap policies, believing that the game would be a post-apocalyptic game as we have always seen this touches more the flesh and penetrates more the soul and shows reality not to a fantasy like all games that we are used to playing at the end of the world, although, it is a linear game gives the option to live and explore other things, transport us to a past and remember that affection father and daughter, and show more things and delve a little into an experience different from the others, as curious, the game there are also pieces of curious data, example when ellie goes to the museum there are historical and educational data and that details seemed interesting to me, because there is no lack of the rat child hurt by Joel's death and his homophobia that has not managed to capture the attention or did not notice, it helps to turn those kinds of people intellectual, those criticisms are those people who threw a lump of stone in their shoe, and cut off an arm and an eye so as not to persirvir any more Whatever the game is, and the experience, since the death of Joel, you get the feeling, you learn that every decision you make, has its consequence, now that maybe it had some fillings and characters with nothing to do with the main and emblematic characters, and a raw and dry death, as it is in reality, maybe that did lack strength, from Ellie we learn that the experiences that are learned from Pain are the ones that make us stronger, to one who does not get what is expected in the end, as to many grieved critics, who stigmatized the game in one way or another, as if they did not know what world we are standing in, the game touched reality and are always so accustomed to the same fantasy, of the were happy forever, many do not understand why the game goes beyond a fantasy. I only found out how divisive it was upon finishing it because of how much I insisted on not having anything spoiled--and are upset about not getting what they expected. I've now read the holes poked in the story, the criticism of characters, all of it. But people are trying too hard to find faults in it because they didn't like the direction the studio took. Because the game I played was heartbreaking, emotionally draining, beautiful, thoughtful, conflicting, and engrossing.

    I could never tell someone that played the first that they will enjoy this game but I will recommend it as emphatically as I can. It is an experience. My rating is somewhat conflicted because in my book, TLOU is a 10/10, full stop. One of, if not my all time favorite game. I give this a 9 because side by side I can't say TLOU2 is *better* than the first; but the experience and what the game put me through matched, if not exceeded the original. I appreciate this game because it *didn't* give me what I expected. It delivered an incredible, emotional experience and while I would have preferred the story go a different way, I appreciate the thought put into the way it went. I would have to go back to Super Mario Bros. 3 to recall a game I immediately started over as soon as finishing it, but I'm doing it with TLOU2. However her story is plain and isn't anything much more but an ordinary revenge journey. She is conflicted almost by anything during the adventure whether it's her closed ones telling her to abandon the revenge or a few minor flashbacks that make her quit.

    Abby, who is immediately being antagonized by the game in the first hour, is trying to be redeemed with her own story. Players then should have an idea on how she feels. Her story is more diverse than Ellie's but the characters involved with Abby are not likeable and doesn't make the players invest more interest in them. You simply cannot make players to love the bad guy! Even if you give her an entire story on how she saves other people it still cannot be justified with how she brutally kills someone who players love the most from the first game.

    The best part of the game for me was the relationship of Ellie and Joel. We get to see many emotional moments and even the following confrontation about Joel's decision from the last game. These flashbacks look like some form of a grief present for a death that was written quite badly. I still believe that Joel should have died in a proper way than simply being bashed by a golf club. Perhaps it's just the game's main intention as not everything is your cliche superhero game, many characters just simply die.

    Ending is unfortunately disappointing. It feels prolonged rather than completed. Ellie didn't achieve anything but loss and Abby is the only character who would benefit from this fiasco. All things aside this is definitely not a bad game, it just cannot live up to the hype or the quality of the first game.    … Expand

    Ce jeu est une franche réussite, que ce soit au niveau de son histoire ou de son gameplay. Tout est fait pour impliquer le joueur dans l'histoire.

    El juego es excelente en prácticamente todos los aspectos, lo que tiene la parte 2 es que sirve únicamente para darte la presentación a Abby y que si es que llega a ver otro juego ella seria la protagonista.

    El recorrido que se tiene con Ellie no es malo pero la verdad que es bastante aburrido, las mejores partes del juego se las lleva Abby incluyendo el boss.

The visual is great and so is the music but that's about it. the story and plot are downright terrible. this is no way the plot or story that should follow up the first game. In no way do would I want or expect Joel to be killed off from the story the way he was (trying to not include too many spoilers). Ellie's story of revenge tour to then have it change at the end is piss poor story writing in my opinion as well. Also, the whole trying to force me liking Abby is piss poor story writing as well. I honestly wish this game's story and plot could be completely rewritten by different people.     I have extremely mixed feelings about this game. I did not enjoy the story (partially the things mentioned above, partially dislike of writing decisions), which is what drags this game down for me. I loved the technical things, like the gameplay, the bosses, atmospheric settings etc, but it's not enough to save a story-driven game. Having bonded so much to Ellie and Joel's relationship, I found it hard to be engaged for Abby's part of the game despite that's what the game wants us to do. I UNDERSTAND the game and the ending, my opinion comes down to personal preference.

    My favourite thing about TLOU 2 was the relationship between Ellie and Dina, which made the experience much more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been. I am a bi woman, so I appreciated a game of this size going all in with a wlw relationship. Ellie's flashbacks were wonderful and very touching.

    I went in blind with this game, TLOU is my favourite game of all time and I have anticipated this for so long. I avoided all leaks, having only seen official trailers and gameplay footage. Unfortunately I ended up quite disappointed, but I still think the game is worth playing through. It is a technical/visual masterpiece, but unfortunately not as a whole including the story, in my opinion.    … Expand

    Best PS4 game (GoW4 and rdr2 far far behind). Fantastic gameplay and graphism, great story and for once it's not "good" vs "bad". Feels fresh and I clearly dont know why people are so upset about it

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros:

    1. One of the best looking games I have ever played.
    2. Animations so smooth you might think it's scripted.
    3. Incredible performances.
    4. One of the most polished games I have ever played. Everything just works! No hiccups in gameplay, character models, animations or environments.
    5. Amazing atmosphere - building. You can really feel the despair, anger, horror and hopelessness as you travel through this post-apocalyptic world.
    6. I did enjoy the newly introduced RPG element. Picking skills to learn and seeing it come to life in gameplay was always great.

    Cons:

    1. I did not care about Abby or her group of friends no matter how hard the game tried. When you have to play one half of the entire game as a character you just can't find yourself to like, the game starts to drag.
    2. The game tried too hard to portray Ellie as the villain (should have been more subtle).
    3. The stealth gameplay (although very polished) is nothing new. Toward the last third of the game, I found myself just trying to get through the fight sequences so I can get closer to the end. It's too many tossing bottles/bricks, sneaking up behind an enemy and pressing triangle. And this is coming from somebody who LOVES stealth games. There just were not enough elements to keep me interested.
    4. Did not care for the supporting cast. They were very forgettable.
    5. TLOU 2 could have benefited from shaving 3-4 hours from the run time. Some sequences felt unnecessary and were clearly only there to force us to connect with Abby more (which the game ultimately failed in).

    Unfortunately, I do think TLOU 2 was an unnecessary sequel. The devs told us they would not create a sequel unless it was significant and it just fell short.    … Expand

    what is heart breaking is how the story was made to be. after playing the game, it is obviously that the story was forcibly pushed at the expense of the characters. what I mean is that many decisions that are made    I played the original and was a very big fan of naughty dog dating back since Jak and Daxter. I experienced no bugs or glitches when playing. however it is a little frustrating that our complaints for the game is shrugged off as homophobic incels. the main issue here is the story line. it is also a little disingenuous when Neil Druckman stated that they made the game to purposely not be enjoyable. this game is a huge disappointment and should have never been made.

    Its a mediocre game at best, everything good about it the first game did better. Story was exciting at times but silly and outlandish at others.

    Удивительное приключение, все кто ставят 0 , те наверняка даже половину игры не осилили. Атмосфера и графика прям на уровне, атмосфера особенно, если играть на высоком уровне и выше.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
