Yes I was devastated when Joel died and it did feel too soon but that was supposed to be the point. Nobody is a good guy anymore.     I've never played a game that made me feel so much after completing the entire experience. Not all of those feelings were good, and often times it was hard to progress because of emotionally difficult decisions or sheer terror because of the threat of infected. At the end of it all however, it was was well worth it. I believe the writers did an excellent job building the characters and theI've never played a game that made me feel so much after completing the entire experience.     I waited till the 'honeymoon' phase has passed before writing this to see where my feelings stand, but even with some time for it to sink in and reflect on all aspects of the game I really do feel like this game is absolutely incredible in every way.

    The gameplay is so visceral and satisfying due to incredible controls, level design, sound design, and AI.     The story really stuck with me more than anything. The journey Ellie goes on is intense, emotional and highly satisfying. This game takes narrative risks I have never seen before in gaming, and the acting, animations, and graphics all lend themselves to creating one of the most compelling narratives and character studies in gaming.

    Please don't miss out on this game. The risks the game took are bold, but I think they were the right risks to take.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First, I feel a lot of these reviews are negative just because of the LGBT content. Second, I think people didn't want a sequel, they just wanted to replay the first game. If you don't have something different to say in a sequel I don't think you should bother just rehashing the same old same old from the first one. Part 2 has a dark, depressing, brutal plot but there are still quite a few moments of sunlight and wonder in it too.

    The gameplay is awesome, the visuals are great. Cut scenes fold effortlessly, sometime unnoticeably into gameplay. It feels open world though its not, and while it feels like you can wander anywhere, it does a great job of somehow subconsciously steering you along the correct path. The mechanics of upgrading your weapons are easy and encourage you to search areas you don't necessarily need to if you want to find all the available resources. The AI is spectacular, especially the way different factions communicate with each other, and how they all have different names, discover fallen bodies and send out warnings, etc. You can get through much of it through stealth alone, though I found myself wanting to kill everything and sometimes just started a gun fight for fun if there were enough resources around. Its VERY long, and its nice that you can go back and just replay certain chapters if you like, as I definitely had favorite areas I really enjoyed (like the flooded city, the burning village, and the boat rides).

    Anyway, if you're just in it for the story alone, and are REALLY REALLY attached to Ellie and Joel, then you probably won't like this as they are not the same characters from four (game) years ago. They're still great characters, but you're introduced to a lot of other characters as well and it can get complicated if you just wanted a rehash of part 1. Cause this ain't that at all. But I thought it was great, and hard hitting, and definitely packs some emotional punch. It forces you to do things you definitely don't want to do, or feel good about, but I think it still makes for a strong meaningful story, especially given what typically passes for a story line in most games.    … Expand

    Next to God if War, by far the best story campaign I’ve ever played. Thank you Naughty Dog for such an amazing experience.

    As a standalone game I'd say its deserving of a 6. However, in comparison to part 1's story that actually had significant characters that made you care about what happened to them and this game which seemed force plot lines down your throat and bring in secondary characters then kill them off before you even cared about remembering their names is disappointing.     For real, you need to have a lot of maturity to be able to understand what is this game trying to tell. it isnt a game about revenge, put that in your mind. its a apocalyptic world that anyone have a heroic death or is a pyschopath. everyone haves loves and feelings, and you just cant be blind by the hate.

They wanted a reaction and didn’t care what reaction it was they were going to get out of us. Workers obviously don’t like working there too which is why stuff got leaked.     Eu não tenho palavras pra esse jogo. É um dos melhores jogos que já joguei, com uma das melhores dublagem. Com esse jogo eu fiquei triste, fiquei feliz, fiquei com medo, fiquei com raiva, até chorei. Eu recomendo, por mim esse jogo é o jogo do ano!!, Parabéns pelo trabalho Naughty Dog e não sei como as pessoas falam mal desse jogo.

Sorry but this game is a big no from me, I thought it would be good after waiting 7 years, but after that cheesy death of Joel I wanted to quit the game, I still gave it a chance tho, and then it went down hill, then the Abby plays made me sick, then after the ending I couldn’t I just had to go and refund the game, like sorry, but ND you won’t see any money from me for this game, I will continue to support your first TLOU game and continue to support your other games, but not TLOU 2.....I hope that at least that Crash Bandicoot 4 will be good....

The combat and exploration are amazing as well. But it can be pretty old over time making the experience too easy since the game has a lot of salvage to find and upgrades with ease. The biggest complaint that is on everyone's mind is the story. It is written well but told in the wrong way. Making people play as a random girl at beginning to kill off a fan favorite character isn't always a good way to debut. Especially since that character growth in the first game felt completely pointless since he didn't felt like the character from the first game. Naughty Dog has shown that they are being run by amateurs who are still learning to become incredible again.… Expand

If you enjoy combat, stealth, scavenging, and sight seeing in a beautifully rendered post apocalyptic world then you are in for a good time. I had zero issues with the story or structure or pacing.     People can’t get mad when a story that’s dear to their heart doesn’t go the way they wanted, that’s is what a great game is all about. Ground breaking twist during the game that hurt but also drive you to resolve a terrible situation makes a player feel mentally vested.
    Joel dying sucks badly (broke my heart) but that’s the way the story was meant to play out, I wish Ella would have had time to say goodbye to Joe but the fact that Ellie didnt just fuels a raging fire in her for revenge.
    I hated the Abby portion of the game at first but when you start to understand the mental and physical trauma she endured fires you an understanding of why you killed Joel is such brutal way.
    I’m about 10 hours in and I feel I’m not only playing a great game, but I’m reading a great book and watching a great movie, all at once. That at the end if today drive me to give it a 10/10 rating

    Gameplay and mechanics are 9/10 (to slow to aim your gun) Graphics and sound are 10/10

    Storyline: when I played Ella and was given her background ever more it made me love. Playing Abby sucked for hours but when you started getting her backstory it made me enjoy playing through her store.

    La muerte de joel, se veia venir desde el primer juego.
    Naughty dog dijo que este juego no iba a ser del agrado de todos.
    El mensaje de este juego no es solo "la venganza no es buena". Sino que tambien trata de hacernos ver, cuán egoustas podemos ser, por algo en específico. Ellie, es verdad que se dio cuenta muy tarde, de que se estaba perdiendo a ella misma. Se dio cuenta en la peor situación. Pero el mensaje es más como: "ellie, buscaba el perdón de joel, en matar a abby, pensaba que si la mataba, iba a tener el perdón de alguien que ya ni vivo estaba. Perdió sus dos dedos, que era la única conexion con joel que le quedaba, ¿Porque? Porque podía tocar la guitarra, y ese era el vínculo que conectaba con joel."

TLOU 2 is the best example of a game that is more than just entertaining, it's a game that makes you think and stays in your memory for a long time. Which is in itself, something that few games in the triple A industry can do. And it is for the same reason that this game has been review-bombed, for the simple fact that only with a playthrough and the hatred we feel for the death of Joel, this game cannot be reviewed. You have to at least play and think for a long time to understand that this game is as good as its predecessor.     An epilogue to a masterpiece, The Last of Us Part II is a jarring experience, it takes narrative risks that throw the entire narrative off the rails with no clear direction. It results in a plotline which awkwardly fumbles to its end with little payoff or direction.

Had they switched the narrative around, this story may have worked, though I still would be angry at how they marketed this story. But the sloppy way it is put together, who the heck wants to play as Abby after you see what she did in the first few hours?! Who cares why? And the lengths to crap on Ellie and her playthrough, while trying to make Abby's portion better? Oh please. And it's so freaking drawn out.I got to the point I couldn't stand playing anymore, and finally gave in to spoilers. Even after the bait and switch narrative in the advertising campaign, trash tactics BTW. Thankfully I did, because I would have been even more pissed had I played to THAT ending after 7 years! I'll pretend this one didn't happen, and go back and play the first when they obviously cared about the story they were creating for Ellie and Joel.… Expand

    The last of us part II has very nice gameplay, lustrous visuals but you'll soon come to realize the story is a horrible work of garbage I dont reccomend buying this game until it becomes way cheaper. Dont be disappointed with the bad story. Be grateful for the good gameplay, multiplayer.

I actually expected Joel to be killed but the way they wrote it was stupid. The pacing of the story completely interrupts the game flow. Too many cut scenes that don't make the game feel important. And they are trying to manipulate the gamer's emotions in an amateurish way. Thumbs down. 22 hrs i will never get back.… Expand

    This story is one of the worst stories I've ever seen in video games. Characters in this game behave completely differently from the first game. Gameplay mechanics are really similar. The ending is just the worst and makes you question why you even bothered playing till the end.

    at first you think abby sucks, you think she must die. but when you start to understand her background story, you can see why she killed joel, and you can undertand how she felt. this games teaches a lot, its inexplicable.
    ellie, on the other hand, lost friends, lost her love dina, only because of a revenge. at the end, she has nothing left, and she knew that killing abby couldnt make everything go away. abby also started to understand a bit of joel and ellies side of the story. she betrayed the WLF, she killed her colleagues, just to save lev and yara. she gave up on everything because of them. she developed a love for them, and then she realized why joel saved ellie. because of love. i think this game is one of the greatest of all time.    … Expand

    This was a huge disservice to all the characters from the first game.

    Still, I actually had many moments where I smiled during all those adorable flashbacks of Ellie and Joel and wished that those moments would have been more abundant throughout the entire game. I had moments where I actually cried, more so than I’d like to admit, because I had to watch one of my favorite characters get beaten & tortured because he and tommy let there guard down at the WORST moment ever. Even though it was gut wrenching, I must admit that I somewhat commend naughty dog for being able to make me feel that kind of emotion. No I don’t agree with it and the way + time it happened and that’s my main gripe.

    The story is what conflicted with me the whole damn game. I actually loved Dina as a character and the relationship her and Ellie have I could relate to because of the there age. Yet, I couldn’t stand as you go deeper into the game as Ellie (day 2 and 3 of Seattle) you watch her become this cold, dark person obsessed with revenge. Naughty dog, I understand you wanted to make this game central around revenge...but for the love of god... the amount of damn characters you killed off due to “revenge” is pathetic and I would have flipped if Abby killed Tommy as well in the theatre. Playing as Abby, honestly, I don’t know how I feel still. I didn’t despise it as much as a lot of other people did. I actually even enjoyed getting to know her crew and see that they are just trying to survive as well. Yet, I always felt this annoying “why can’t I just continue to play as Ellie...you know...the character we all believed was a huge part of the game” and that leads to my final point.

    Screw the living crap out of the marketing. Screw you naughty dog for lying to all of us and to you Sony for allowing them and yourself to do that. Now I did HIGHLY enjoy the combat and all the improvements that were made to it. It felt satisfying, brutal, and rewarding especially when sniping people with your bow. Presentation was amazing. I loved yara and lev and cheered for them to survive as long as possible. Honestly there were points I really loved the story and some of its wholesome moments. It’s just there are holes, glaring holes that smack you in the face and make you ask why.

    Many people may ask why I even gave it a 7 due to the political crap it pushed and to that, I honestly can only say I tried being as open as possible. I also was mixed on the story, even though I mainly listed negatives as I feel they need to be known, so it also had that. This is no where near the original, however, as I played that game for over 100+ hours and never got sick of it. Naughty dog, if you for some reason make a third one, take some advice from us fans that loved the first game and wanted this one to succeed so badly. Don’t load your game with politically motivated crap and maybe, just maybe, don’t kill off one of the best characters a company has ever made. (Yes I know that mean killing of Ellie at that point since they already messed up with Joel and then I’d just be laughing at that point because I’d join in dumping a fat zero on the game).    … Expand

    Game play is pretty standard by now, graphics are decent. Atrocious writing, it is possible to explore ideas that are not typically covered in gaming without being this on the nose and obnoxious. In terms of the plot, the writers knew where they wanted to start and finish, but that's about it.

For starters the doctor from the first last of us video game wasn’t even the same doctor as Abby’ dad which leaves a huge plot hole making the game hard to follow. Second you don’t get to play as Joel in this game and ND thought it would be best to Kill Joel within 2 hours of the game. The whole game forces you to play as Abby and somehow feel bad for her after killing the most beloved character (Joel) the graphics were actually amazing but this story just sucked.     Fantastic game that takes story telling to the next level. It won’t be for everyone and that’s understandable but personally I loved it. Allowing us to play as ‘the villain’ for a substantial amount of the game adds so much more depth to the game rather than just playing as Ellie.     The story was a work of art for me. A genius masterpiece of a level I have never experienced before through the video game medium. I hope other AAA titles can learn from this game, as I believe it brings the entire gaming medium to a new level not previously achieved.

    The graphics, sounds, atmosphere, details, environments were all flawless. The game play took the core loops of the first (which were excellent) and improved upon them. The real magic of this game lies in the story however. I have never felt more connected or personally involved in the stories of a cast of video game characters. By the end of the game - Ellie, Abbey, Lev, Dina, Yara were all very real people to me.

    I cannot recommend this game enough. You are doing yourself a massive disservice if you skip over this title. To date is stands as the pinnacle of gaming experiences, and I cannot wait for more games to follow suit at this caliber.    … Expand

    Unfortunately an amazing game such as the first Last of Us has to receive a politicized sequel like this. I was shocked at the sexual content that is in this game for virtually no reason. I think no matter what side of the aisle you stand we should all agree that video games should leave out the politics for the better.

Even if you don't like the story, it's a great game that deserves a lot more than a 0, and all these reviews only prove that people are rating it with their emotions. Scoring it 0, even while acknowledging the undeniable beauty of it, is being completely biased. Only real critic from me is the pacing, it's a bit long and puts on the breaks a bit too hard in the middle, but i'd say it's still worth it in the end.
    Also, I am very glad for the representation of minorities and well-written women in this game, not just as support characters but as the main character.
    I'll just conclude by saying that at the very least, it validates video games as an art form, capable of compelling story telling, really beautiful visuals and insanely good acting. Whether you like the story or not is an opinion, not a reflection of whether the game is good or bad.    … Expand

    I personally enjoyed this game a lot, but I will admit that it falls short on some of the things that the first game established. To balance this, it also introduces some nice things. I enjoyed the story, but I will admit that it isn't as good as the first. They contain drastically different tones, and introduce new characters that stray away from Joel and Ellie. If you want to dive deeper into this game's story, you first have to accept Abby as a character, and understand that it doesn't just revolve around J&E. I would actually say that both TLOU and TLOU2 are cliche in their stories, but one is heartwarming while the other is brutal. It's mostly down to personal preference, but we can't deny that there are some flaws within the writing. Many of the characters serve as an extension to the plot, when instead, it could work better the other way around. Some of them also don't get enough screentime to truly bond with them. The pacing is also a little off sometimes, with sudden cuts and changes in perspective.

    But one thing I genuinely loved about this game is that it isn't scared of killing/harming people. They die quick. They die suddenly. Some are for shock factor, but they do leave you feeling a little empty. You could say that this "revenge is bad" plot is average and cliche, but many wanted also wanted a simple revenge story, which is JUST as cliche. The characters aren't all pure good and bad, instead, they fall into a gray zone. The game emphasizes this with both the protagonists and antagonists. While I don't believe that this story reaches the top like TLOU did, it still does a good job in delivering its message with a good amount of likeable characters.

    The gameplay is similar to TLOU, but does some improvements. The UI in specific is still very simple while giving you more information. Players are now able to jump and go prone, adding a little bit of platforming to the experience. The UI is smarter now and is able to get good cover, rush towards you, and are able to locate you when you're discovered. They're a good challenge. Still, the gameplay loop is extremely intense, enjoyable, and plays great.

    However, there are still some flaws with it. The supplements system has now turned into a branch system, and covers different aspects of gameplay. My problem with this system is that it sometimes forces you to waste supplements on power-ups that you don't want, and a couple of these upgrades feel almost useless. Still, with enough progress and spending, you can get some solid upgrades.

    Weapon modification returns, and it's awesome in this game. The character does unique animations for each gun when you upgrade them. The guns in general feel very powerful, and each weapon covers a dinstinct role. They're all unique in their own ways.

    Presentation, as with any ND game, is top-notch. The graphics are some, if not THE best I've seen on the PS4. Foliage is extremely dense, the lighting is strong and can emit a certain feeling perfectly, and the animations and voice acting are amazing. In fact, foliage serves two functions: It is both a presentation tool, but also a gameplay one, as it allows you to hide from enemies quickly.

    This game isn't a 10/10. It also isn't a 0/10. It's extremely controversial, but it's something you should definitely give a try at one point in your life. You might come out with dread. Or, you might come out with happiness, like I did.    … Expand

    beautiful looking game; with a halfwit story try to accomplish too much at once, i really tried to enjoy it, but there was next to no improvements game play wise to keep engaged. zombies are on the back burner. truly a shame to spend 7 years on story only to deliver this. maybe if it had multiplayer id be apt to be less harsh.

Сюжет который своими поворотами ввергает в шок, лучшее музыкальное сопровождение которое многократно усиливает эмоции от сцены,серьёзно, это лучшее музыкальное сопровождение которое я слышал. Проработка каждой мелочи. Игра глубокая,с моралью,которую к сожалению не всем в силу умственной отсталости дано узреть, похожая ситуация была с РДР2. Игра очень душевная, серьёзная, тяжелая и грустная, особл впечетлительных заставит заплакать или навеет депрессию. Но не обошлось без парочки неприятных моментов. Эбби...как же они хотели заставить сопереживать ей,но я эту лицемерку насквозь вижу, из игры нужно вырезать часа так 3-4 скучнейшего геймплея за нее,никому вообще не интересно,что она там делала со своими друзьями, а вот арка с Львом и Ярой была очень интересной. Очень неприятно видеть,что из-за какой-то повестки в начале игры, люди просто бездумно идут обваливать рейтинг такой хорошей игре, не думая как это скажется на разработчиках, хотя Сони не ЕА, но все таки. Так же "фанаты" первой части, которым не понравилось виденье сценаристов, которые заложили в сюжет мораль и трагедию, сюжет который по-настоящему удивит вас и заставить сопереживать, не играя и не пытаясь понять сюжет, пишут "тупая история про месть" и идут так же ставить 0. Мне очень грустно, что Тлоу2 постигла такая судьба, но разработчики сами виноваты в этом. Смотря рание трейлеры 2016,очевидно,что сюжет планировался совсем другой,но кому-то в студии ударила моча в голову, и мы получили это...игра могла быть намного лучше, не знаю кого винить, скорее всего Нила Дракманна.     Let me say this, graphically this game is a 10/10 and I mean every bit of that, they brought out the big guns for that. Sounds are on f-ing point. I cannot get over how well done those 2 areas of this are. Shout out to every single voice actor in this or person/s providing solid motion capture. People look and feel real, but that's where the positive factors end. Sadly.

    The game play feels exactly like the previous entry with a few polishes to movement, but not much else. Gun play is ok, not perfect, hand to hand is as well. Overall it works so, there's that. Combat tends to get very tedious and repetitious, if you're tired don't play this game, you'll fall asleep. One new feature is you can jump now. Ok I guess, so now they've traded tedious dumpster and ladder "puzzles" for some rope and a jump button. Too bad I couldn't climb high, use the rope and jump. As Abby. Would have given some justice.

    I wasn't expecting to be forced to play as Abby AKA She Man Woman Strong, for as long as they had us. I wanted it to be a refreshing change, spoiler, it was not. By the time I got control of her all I felt for her was disgust and hatred. So much so that I could only wait until I was collected. I don't care about you Abby. I don't care about your dead dad, I don't care about your lame friends. I don't f-ing care, die in a fire. See normally I don't mind a character change, as such a switch up of characters can help freshen a game and get me hooked even further. No this certainly wasn't the case. Let me end this portion of the review with this and no more than this. It's not what you did, that angers me so. It's how you went about explaining it.

    The story feels so utterly rushed and forced that I had more fun yawning than following the repeated theme of ReVeNgE bAd. Ellie has become a giant C. Abby is a home wrecking hypocrite on steroids that 90% of us hate. Lev is trans because. I dunno why that's important but they say it is so I guess it is. Very proper of you ND, clap clap, so woke, clap clap, so deep, clap clap. Joel was laughably stupid, which we know him not to be, ya know from YEARS of survival previously established in TLOU 1. Naughty Dog had a golden goose in that, for reasons unknown they then beat it to death with a golf club to have a quick meal.

    With regards to Abby and her massive gains.

    Let me be crystal f-ing clear here. You do not just work out to get that way. You have to diet properly, proper nutrition is key. This is supposed to be an established apocalypse where a lot of things are very scarce and hard to come by. So you mean to tell me her group powered her up Altered Beast style, but only her? Oh ok. Makes. Perfect. Sense. SMDH.

    There are strong female characters out there, both in shape and backstory. Some real and proper depth that make me want to see the journey through, Abby however, is strong for the sake of being strong and she is deep because Neil thinks she is. She is written to be a Mary Sue this game caters to. She gets hers, she gets the world. Our Ellie is to be made example of. I didn't enjoy watching Naughty Dog rape her, and yes, that's what they did. They raped her character and Joel's and through Joel, Tommy.

    As far as the story goes? I've read pop-up books with more depth. I once "accidentally" lit my ankle on fire, I had more fun putting the fire out than playing through this train wreck of a game. Overall this game was ok at best. Some will love it, most will hate it. I give it a 3. 1 point in graphics, 1 point for sound, 1 point for accessibility options.

    Bravo for the intentional mis-marketing of this game. You got away with murder ND. I hope you step on a lego.    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
