    Haven't played many games that much, but based on what I've read on the subreddit for this game, the story just makes sense. It's okay if others won't accept what happened, because that's just what life is. Still a likely candidate for the game of the year for me! :)

    A great improvement from the first one when it comes to gameplay, doesn’t innovate, but it doesn’t need to, super fun to play. When it comes to narrative and storytelling, it presents us something bold, emotional and rich, a heavy story with many layers. It sticks with you for a while after you finished the game.

    This game is nothing but amazing, its a must play for this current generation. I UNDERSTAND that this game is divisive in terms of its story but aside from that which is totally subjective, the amount of effort and detail poured into this experience should be acknowledged.

This game is truly a master piece of story telling you will get the point of view from different character at a different pace with will add to the greatness at the story. The relationship between Ellie and Joel went on as we would have expected when the last of us one ended it’s sad that people couldn’t come to terms with Joel’s death in the all grand scheme of things I felt that it fit and gave the game a proper fair well. Abby and Ellie will those character that you’ll remember for a life time great job at the people at naughty dog! Sorry my English is bad it’s not my second language. I hope they will add a multiplayer feature later on but nonetheless this was *chef kisses* a true master piece!!… Expand

    Great visual and music, but plot the worst thing that could happen to this game and SJW everyone tired of seeing this.

    I enjoy this game, but the trailers were a horrible lie, and the history ins’t the best.
    The gameplay is perfect and if the trailers would have been truth, the game could hace been better for the users.

I love the lgbtq representation and diversity in the game but I feel like most of it was unnecessary to the plot line? like it felt forced almost. Also, as a player of the game, and human being, seeing a character i was so attached with from the first game die the most brutal way possible was heartbreaking and disappointing. I think it's very obvious that joel's death was very messy and makes no sense at all. Almost like they wanted to get over with him. I hated the game with a passion. The idea was there but i the execution was horrible. it had potential of being a diverse, have a strong storyline that gives you closure, and emotional. But instead it was forced, and horrible. I really do hope next time, they read what the fans want and not what the critics want.… Expand

    The Last of Us 2 seems to have divided gamers - like marmite, you either love it or hate it. I certainly fall into the "love it" category, but I didn't to begin with.

    The story took a bizarre turn.. one that was difficult to swallow at first. But the game found a way to gradually and subtly change your whole perspective on the story, the characters and ultimately what is right and wrong or that blurred grey area in-between.

    Having spent some time reading through the negative reviews.. they all have the resounding tone of grief. People are not grieving a poor story-line, but grieving that the storyline did not map out how it was "supposed to" in their head. Good stories are supposed to make you feel something - and this game did exactly that. However, making individuals feel negative emotions from playing your game will not yield the same 10/10 ratings that you got from the first game.
    Let's not forget, we effectively doomed the world to suffer a zombie infected apocalypse when a cure was within reach.. yet that felt pretty good, Joel was the hero, right? No, he wasn't, far from it.

    The gameplay was nothing short of flawless, keeping you in suspense at all times whilst improving on the AI and combat of the previous game.

This games looks amazing the gameplay is incredible naughty dogs usual gameplay polish is here with graphics better than any game they have made before. However as this is a narrative based game I’ve got to acknowledge that the story is entirely lacking and takes away from how enjoyable the gameplay can be. The reliance on coincidences and plot Armor withdraws almost any stakes in each set piece. And of course there’s Abby one whom is defended by many critics who ignore the fact that her and Manny attempts to justify killing kids in a throw away line in Seattle day on as well as the face she was clearly didn’t care and almost enjoyed the woman who’s throat she was about to slit was pregnant just to get one over on Ellie that’s just sick Ellie defended herself against Mel and Owen. Just because Abbie saves two people inevitably killing several of her owlf comrades does not redeem her in any way. The ending is something I won’t go into because I don’t even know how to feel about it and would rather recommend the last of us remastered as that is a 10/10 game if this game had a multiplayer faction mode like that one I would give it an extra point or two but the great gameplay is simply overshadowed by the contrived and manipulative narrative.… Expand

Not sure how come they created a story line that panders to the vocal minority instead of what real players want.     O jogo é bonito, tem um cenário muito bem feito, porém tem muitos bugs sim, eu joguei posso dizer que tem, a mídia supervalorizou este game, é um jogo mediano, história "boa" porém o final muito ruim, resumindo jogabilidade excelente, gráficos lindos mas pelo fato da história ser tão fraca e forçada e ter alguns bugs, que sim atrapalham em algum momento, vai ser esta nota.

    O jogo da década. Tecnicamente perfeito, com a gameplay mantendo a essência do primeiro jogo evoluindo de maneira fluida o combate e movimentação. A história é corajosa e vai te fazer questionar uma série de coisas sobre os personagens que já conhecemos no primeiro jogo. Uma pena o jogo ser atacado por essa cambada de incel virjão intolerante, mas nos dias de hoje não me surpreende.

    Beautiful, gritty and fitting sequel. Despite the negativity surrounding the game, the developers have crafted an incredible, emotional rollarcoaster of a title.

    The graphics and environments are stunning as expected from Naughty Dog, the detail is crazy with every corner and crevice filled with overgrown plants and details and truly makes you feel as if you are in a post apocalyptic world. Truly pushes the PS4 to its limits whilst keeping a stable experience.

    Unfortunately now we have to move onto the story, which I didn't think I would have to say about a The Last of Us title, but its not very good, pretty bad in fact, and that is it separated from the spectacle of the first game. It feels really messy with a constant, jarring shift in perspective between characters, some who Naughty Dog really want you to care about, so much so that whole sections, or even the whole of the story will just seem terrible if you don't care enough about them. In comparison, The Last of Us gave us Ellie and Joel to relate with and even if you somehow didn't like the characters you still understood that there is a mission to be done to help the human race. Here there isn't any of that and completely relies on you caring hard for those characters with no story backbone but that. I can see what Naughty Dog attempted with this style of story telling but unfortunately it didn't succeed and I really had to force myself through the latter part of the game...

    There's alot more I could say about the story but that would start getting into spoiler territory and that's isnt what this is for. So overall I would say 6.5/10 but due to the rating system here I feel as if I would be stretching too hard to give this game a 7/10 so for me, here it takes a 6.

    Pros:
    > Satisfying combat with visceral fighting.
    > Gorgeous environments and amazing graphics.

    Cons:
    > Storyline was ambitious but didnt meet the bar to keep me hooked.
    > Emotional attachment to the characters were relied on too heavily for the story, and I didn't feel
    emotionally invested in them for the story to hit its beats.

    I saw the critic reviews and am honestly shocked, it feels more and more difficult to trust them these days. I can totally understand if someone happened to enjoy this game, but seeing an insane amount of reviews saying 9/10 or 10/10 is kind of shocking that these are the people who rate these games. Always read user reviews before purchasing a game! We aren't paid off like many critics actually are, we are just real gamers like yourself who are emotionally invested in purchasing a game.

    I hope Naughty Dog learn from this and improve for their next adventure.

    Dejando de lado el apartado    The Last of Us Part II es un juego arriesgado y diferente. Es cierto que no es un juego creado para cumplir con los deseos de los jugadores, pero sin duda marca un antes y un después en los videojuegos y lleva al jugador a plantearse muchas cosas mientras juega, a reflexionar sobre el porqué de las acciones de los personajes y a vivir de lleno la historia.

    Dejando de lado el apartado gráfico, que es absolutamente alucinante, merece la pena destacar lo divertido del gameplay y su evolución respecto al primer juego. En esta segunda parte, la IA cobra una importancia y un papel mucho mayor, y los combates van a otro plano. Si bien es cierto que todavía hay aspectos a mejorar, sobre todo en la resolución de los puzzles y en el ritmo de algunas partes del juego, en general me parece que TLOU2 es un juego más divertido y completo que el primero, que abre más posibilidades y que tiene tantos detalles que dan ganas de rejugarlo una vez terminado.

    Como ya he comentado al principio, la historia y las decisiones que se toman en ella son arriesgadas, y eso puede dar lugar a críticas de jugadores que no hayan visto cumplidas sus expectativas en el plano narrativo, pero creo que hay que ser objetivos a la hora de valorar el juego. La historia puede gustar más o menos, pero abre un debate que es muy interesante (al igual que pasó en la primera parte del juego), y ayuda a entender mejor los hechos vividos en TLOU1. Hablar de propaganda política por que aparezcan personajes diversos y que huyen de lo normativo me parece totalmente inapropiado, y demuestra que la gente que lo dice no ha entendido absolutamente nada del juego.

    Desde mi punto de vista, el mayor error que tiene TLOU2 es la falta de un mayor ritmo en algunas partes del juego, especialmente en la primera parte, en la que se abusa demasiado de la exploración y en la que pasan pocas cosas. Esto no sucede tanto durante la segunda parte del juego, que para mí es mucho más redonda y entretenida que la primera. Esta falta de ritmo puede llevar a algunos jugadores a cansarse y a abandonar el juego, y fácilmente se podría haber solucionando añadiendo más escenas de acción y acortando la duración del juego.

    En cualquier caso, creo que, si bien TLOU2 no es perfecto, sí es una obra de arte en muchos aspectos, y sin duda alguna es un juego que HAY que jugarlo, aunque sea para experimentarlo y poder valorarlo por uno mismo. Espero que las personas que se animen a probarlo sean capaces de adentrarse en el mundo de Naughty Dog sin ideas preconcebidas en la cabeza y con ganas de disfrutar de unos personajes que te llevan a replantearte muchas cosas. Desde luego, creo que es un juego que no deja a nadie indiferente, y eso hoy en día es muy difícil de conseguir.    … Expand

What a difficult thing PTSD, anger, thoughts of justice and revenge are when you’re just trying to let it go and be happy. All the people that got hurt along the way. The graphics are among the best the ps4 ever produced, the gameplay is vastly improved and does everything the first game was lacking in terms of mechanics. The game's pace can drag on in a couple of parts, but overall it's a minor nitpick that does not compromise the experience whatsoever. The sound design is really impressive making the experience really immersive and the music, both original and covers, are subtle and beautifuland sets the tone really well throughout the journey. Overall an experience that cannot be missed for those who want an different type of story and really well made game overall.… Expand

    Amazing gameplay with a ridiculous story and plot twists. Just one bad decision comes after another bad decision. This game tries to deliver its simple message so hard and uses such cheap ways to do it, that all the game suffers from it. It's not the worst game but definitely my biggest disappointment of the decade, and of my whole life maybe...

    Durée de vie : 15/20 Bonne durée de vie ( Environ 30H ) mais du remplissage dans la deuxième partie du jeu pour allonger la durée de vie.     Incredible. I am speechless and an emotional wreck. With both part 1 and part 2, this story line has to be by far the best. The emotional and character growth throughout the game is so complex! The graphics and the attention to detail from start to finish are insane. Everyone involved in creating The Last of Us should be extremely proud of themselves, no more could have been done. Perfection.

    Игра шикарная, 10/10. Прошел недавно. Сюжет оставляет депрессию после прохождения, но в игре такого рода это норма. Все кто минуст игру за сюжетные повороты и тем более ЛГБТ/Трасн. Что с Вами не так просто. Графика шикарная, технически - шикарно. Сравните условную взрывную стрелу из Цусимы и из ТЛОУ2 и все встанет ясно. Арагаджага респект кстати.Игра шикарная, 10/10. Прошел недавно. Сюжет оставляет депрессию после прохождения, но в игре такого рода это норма. Все кто минуст игру за сюжетные повороты и тем более ЛГБТ/Трасн. Что с Вами не так просто. Графика шикарная, технически - шикарно. Сравните условную взрывную стрелу из Цусимы и из ТЛОУ2 и все встанет ясно. Арагаджага респект кстати.

    Но сдругой стороны Эбби Которая потеряла отца Джерри ,и друзей Оуэн , Мел , Мэнни, Нора , Джордан.Ты не понимаешь за кого ты, и этим игра хороша , и вот почему в last of us 2 сильный и смелый сюжет.
    Теперь что мне не понравилось.
    Смерть Джоэла, настолько близкого персонажа убивают в начале игры, я в это не мог поверить они убили его что ?? В игре я думал будет путешествие Джоэла и Элли , но они не стали продолжать первую часть за это респект , они нам дали новую историю .
    Как жалко что Джоэл всё-таки появляется в игре в виде воспоминании.
    Негативные отзывы которые опираются на то что в игре есть ЛГБТ пропаганда , Ассасине , Батлфилде 5 пропаганды больше чем Tlou 2 за всю игру нам показали три поцелуя Элли и Дины . Но между парнем и девушкой показали (Эбби и Оуэна)
    По итогу игра мне понравилось , и её пользовательская оценка не заслужена .

Malgré un forçage médiatique jamais vu, des spots de pubs télé et cinéma, tous les journalistes payés/menacés ( ce n'est même plus un secret), on ne peut forcer les gens à avaler que ce jeu est le meilleur de tous les temps. C'est un jeu ok, sans plus. Et je ne parle pas du côté politique SJW engagé et assumé par l'équipe. Dommage.

    Graphic is awesome, so does the soundtrack. Gameplay is good, it just too long and a little bit boring. Story is fine, but the way it deliver maybe cause some arguements. The story is also too concentrate on Abby. I wish the story could longer cause i feeel it still not satisfy my expectation.

The ending literally makes no sense, not only she didn’t get any justice for Joel, she lost 2 fingers. Good job, Naughty Dog! Here’s a suggestion to save this game from flopping. Make part 3 with Ellie woken up, and all the stuffs that happened during part 2 was just a dream. In my opinion, if Joel was going to die it needed to be at the end, and maybe have us play as Abby during the first part of the game. Have us play as Abby going through the aftermath of what Joel did at the hospital to see and empathize with her to see from her pov. If you try to force us to feel bad about a character then that emotion that you're trying to "extract" from us fails wonderfully and that's exactly what happened in this game.     Never in a video game have I hated a character so much, only for them to become one of my favourite characters in The Last of Us series. Naughty Dog have truly made something incredible.     The graphics are excellent and in particular the animation brings the characters to life, with great performances across the board that really allow you to be invested in the characters.     Gameplay has been improved significantly over the first game, with jumping and going prone being added which, even though they seem small, make the game feel so much better. Enemies are incredibly lifelike and fighting humans is really fun, although there are some annoying sections that feel like filler with random infected, there are some key moments with the infected that are well executed and they are some of the most memorable encounters. Scrambling around for parts is also a pain, and takes you out of the flow of the game frequently.

    The worst part of the game for me was the pacing and the story jumping around. You will play as multiple characters and the transition between them is jarring and not very satisfying. I kept trying to plow through certain content just to get back to the characters I was invested in. Some of the back and forts are outright frustrating.

    As for the story, there are some legitimate complaints here. I found some characters to be unlikable and some arcs to be a bit out of place in the universe, but overall its nothing too jarring and I think the story ends up being a pretty satisfying ride that reaches very high highs at times.    … Expand

    I have 5 categories scored 0 to 2 and a personal experience modifier that, depending on my experience playing can add or subtract up to 2, save that it can't reduce a score to 0 or raise it to 10.
    0= unacceptable
    1= acceptable
    2= excellent

    SOUND: 1. Nothing to write home about but no specific complaints. Nothing that stood out, nothing that caught my attention or that I found memorable or especially well-executed. Just... acceptable.

    GRAPHICS: 2. It's no Horizon Zero Dawn or Ghosts of Tsushima but it's still visually amazing and has a lot of character. As much as it annoys me given how awful the... actually that's another category. We'll get to that next. It looks really good.

    STORY: 0. And that's only because my scoring system does not allow anything lower. Everything else can be excellent but if you have a crappy story you'll still have a crappy game. I don't want to go into any specifics here because there's so much to hate that if I started I'd never get the review finished- but it suffices to say that it's amateurish, unpolished and makes very poor narrative choices. And I'm being as complimentary here as I can. The whole thing leaves me with a bad taste in my soul and -as a writer myself, not to mention a fan of the first game- highly offended.

    CONTROLS: 1. Essentially the same from the first game without any noticeable improvements. They work, but the issues the first game had were never corrected.

    EXECUTION: 0. This category describes how all the elements of the game come together. Remember how earlier I said that you can have great sound, great graphics, great controls and all that but if you have a crappy story you have a crappy game? Case in point. All the mechanics work, the sound is there and the graphics are gorgeous- but the story is utter garbage and therefore so is the game.

    PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: -2. And, once again, this is because the system I use will not allow me to subtract more. Where do I begin here? The 'rubbing-your-face-in-it' homosexuality was a huge turn-off for me. If it has been tastefully done it would be different but... that wasn't the case here. The fate of a certain central character from the first game is unforgivably cheap and unsatisfying, the idea of intentionally making a game to be divisive rather than inclusive rubs me the wrong way, the ham-fisted approach to storytelling... well, we talked about that earlier. And, frankly, the way Naughty Dog unethically and intentionally weaponized false copyright claims (though that obviously wasn't the game's fault) would have skewed my feelings against the game even if I would otherwise have absolutely *loved* it. Oh yes, and then there's the whole agenda-pushing thing. But enough of that. Let's calculate the final score.

    4 before my personal experience, which takes it down to 2. And, I wish to add, that number does not accurately communicate the contempt I have for this game's story. If it weren't for that, I'd be able to score this game a solid 7 to 8. Such a shame.    … Expand

On thinking back on the story in the weeks after slowly savoring it, it's too easy to praise the idea of the story while forgetting how it unfolded. It is easy to remember the warmth and allure of wintertime Jackson, Dina and Ellie's friendship, the moving sorrow of the flashbacks, Ellie's grief and trauma, and the poignant look into the destructive nature of revenge. I have thought on that moral lesson, that revenge prevents loved ones from growing old together and sharing experiences over many years of life.

    However, thinking back on the experience of the story weeks after playing it brings one danger: my imagination will make those good qualities I listed in the last paragraph seem better, more fleshed out, or more subtle than they actually were while playing through. So, while my idea of the story (or my memory of it) will dwell in the simple life of wintertime Jackson, remember Ellie's friendships, the sorrow of the flashbacks, and Ellie's grief and trauma, those aspects were in reality glossed over. In retrospect, my memory might praise the moral lesson on revenge by making it seem as if it were more subtle than it actually was, but the message was not subtle: it required half the length of the game, and that half tearing our attention away from the engrossing emotional life of Ellie, who is perhaps the most beloved character of the PS3/4 era.

    Therefore, I gave a 7 for the fact that the game teases the player with the allure of wintertime Jackson and the promise of being with Ellie through the stages of her grief and trauma, but instead, rushes past these aspects. We had no glimpse whatsoever into the progression of Ellie's grief during her and Dina's cross country journey to Washington. Such a journey, which is the allure of the TLOU world, was happily skipped; not one moment of that journey was shown, which disoriented me. For a game about the cycle of revenge, glossing over the early stages of grief, which could've at least had one dedicated section in say Idaho in the cross country trip, was a huge missed beat. How can I align myself with Ellie when she had a 3-4 month time skip to process her grief, whereas I had but a few minutes? Being enslaved to their narrow theme of the degrading nature of revenge, the game puts the player in a cannon, so to speak, while we are still enjoying our winter patrol and rushes to shoot us past everything between that section and Ellie's confrontation with Abby in Seattle.

    By putting Ellie's burning desire for revenge front and center for most of the game, we don't get to explore other aspects of her inner, emotional life, which would give more weight to her destructive revenge. Because we don't get to dwell in a segment showing her simple life in Jackson (going to the sledding resort or lake with her friends for example), we don't fully appreciate what she gives up in her revenge mission. Because we don't see enough glimpses of Ellie's emotional turmoil between Joel's death and Seattle, we aren't made to appreciate the fire behind her revenge. Those are left to the imagination. And when TLOU2 teases us with the greatness of their visual and emotional fidelity in their characters, I can't help but feel disappointed that those moments are left to my imagination rather than fleshed out with cutscenes and playable sections. Leaving what I think are crucial elements to Ellie's development to the imagination is worthy of a 7 no matter how good the journal entries are. Relegating Jackson life and the cross country to journal entries was a big slap in the face.

    Lastly, Abby's section would've worked as a shorter segment not only to spare time for Ellie's emotional development early on, but also to enhance the moral lesson of the story by being more subtle. Any work that is didactic to whatever degree cannot hide its didactic nature from the audience. Making the player play 10 hours as Abby, introducing and focusing on five of her friends throughout, not only weakens the moral lesson by being overt, but takes away from the intimacy that made TLOU1 great. That sense of intimacy, which makes the world seem bigger, scarier, and relationships cozier, is watered down when there are too many characters added. Not to mention that most of that 10 hours is spent trudging through some of the most dense shoot-em-up sections in game, which add no depth to her story at all.

    TLOU2 teased at aspects of Ellie's inner life that should've been explored, but never did. Relegating important aspects of Ellie's emotional world to journal entries (for Jackson life and the cross country journey) is disappointing. The time spent trying to flesh out Abby's five friends could've been used to delve more into Ellie's emotional development. Here's a quote from the Pali Canon to sum up my views on spreading the story thin across too many characters in a game founded on intimacy:

They kill Joel off only 2 hours in then they brutally torture and beat Joel to death! I pre-ordered the game and when the leaks were coming out I was like nah not true boy I wrong! Guess what the woman who killed Joel guess what you play with her for 50% of the game acting like we would like her! I Finally got to the end then I was like yes kill her! Then she rememberers Joel then like oh no I don’t want to kill her. This whole plot of the game was a revenge plot but guess what you don’t get revenge and your whole family leaves you even worse you leave Joel’s gatar then walks away leaves it! Hope they just pretend this game never existed then make a story about forgiveness… Expand

It doesnt matter if Joel killed or not. It matters how he was killed. Just rush-in storyline, without any expectations. And it is not that Joel that we know from part 1. Same thing i can say bout Ellie. She just became bipolar girl with no logic in her moves. Dina - was deleted too early. Jessie - I dunno waht to say.. Just killed... Without any character explanation. Ebby - idk, maybe some people liked to play as her, but for me it was 10 hours of misery. I just aint wanna to play as that character even if Druckman shows us story bout her humanity, like saving zebras or dogs. Ebbie team is also awful, cmn, 8-month pregnant girl, best doctor in the camp, just went killing zombies and other guys.

But the fact is that even Abby was seeking revenge for her father's death and if you think about it there is no real villian in the story.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
