    Had to create an account just to do my part to fight against the review bombing for this game. The Last of Us Part 2 is a masterpiece. Yes there are a few woke elements in the game but it doesn't take away from the excellent story that makes you question right and wrong, good and bad, hero or villain. Every Playstation gamer owes it to themselves to pick this game up. Never have I played aHad to create an account just to do my part to fight against the review bombing for this game. The Last of Us Part 2 is a masterpiece.     First of graphics and technical problems. I cannot say anything against graphics. Everything looks realistic, the world is full of details that will captivate you and you will feel like you are part of it.

    And lastly the story... As we all know there is some big controversy around it. I really enjoyed the story. Of course, there are a few things I would change. For example, it should be more chronological so that you play with both characters on the same day. But regardless of this story is really cool and surprise you every time. I think that everything that characters did is realistic and true to their characters. 2 hours from the end I was already thinking that it is over but then another part of the story kicked in and I was happily surprised.
    Overall I can only recommend this game. It was a blast playing it and I think it changed my mindset how I am looking at the world. Thanks, Naughty Dogs.    … Expand

    Despite of all those noise and 0 review, I think this is a great game.
    It was very hard at the beginning, however it worth all the effort.
    Second part of the game explains feeling and motivation of main characters and makes this game really great.
    Although it is not a game for everyone I still think its a strong 9 of 10

    I just finished this game yesterday, and I felt compelled to write my first review here. Why? Because, like many, I noticed the overwhelming negative attitude and backlash this game received instantly upon arrival.
    When I first got this game, I didn't immediately start playing it. I felt like if there was such a generalized dislike for the game, it was probably warranted, and that    I just finished this game yesterday, and I felt compelled to write my first review here. Why? Because, like many, I noticed the overwhelming negative attitude and backlash this game received instantly upon arrival.
    When I first got this game, I didn't immediately start playing it. I felt like if there was such a generalized dislike for the game, it was probably warranted, and that potential for disappointment dampened my excitement. Sequels rarely live up to expectations after all. I knew there was a lesbian romance from the trailer and the first game's dlc, so while I figured that it would play a role in the negative responses it'd get from hateful reactionaries, I still assumed the overall dislike for the game would be grounded in legitimate concerns.
    And after having finished the game, I feel awful that I ever lent any credence to the hate mob. The game is absolutely fantastic in practically every way. And it is a sad realization that, having found no real reason for the overwhelming hate campaign the game got, I am left to conclude that the discriminatory sentiment against LGBTQ representation is its core motivation. As a gay man, I am disappointed in myself for having been naive in this respect. And I am deeply appreciative of Naughty Dog for having pushed forward with these LGBTQ stories despite the predictable reactionary backlash.

    So, regarding the different aspects of the game:

    - Gameplay wise, it builds on the foundation of the first game. The first game, in my opinion, had already strong, simple, effective gameplay mechanics, and this game just develops them a bit further. I am glad it is the case. Everything is responsive and feels more cinematic than in the first game.

    - Art wise, it is one of the best looking games to have ever been created, if not the best. It is undeniable how incredible this game looks. Not only from a technical perspective, in how it pushes fidelity to the highest possible degree graphics wise, but also in terms of art direction, set design, atmosphere, mood, visual storytelling. Everything feels like it has been meticulously crafted and put together to form the most seamless, intuitive and natural narrative experience. There's not a moment where the game does not reward you with incredibly designed cinematic shots, which cleverly play into various roles, both practical and story driven.
    This newly achieved level of fidelity empowers the game's characters as well. The nuance of every micro expression is clearly perceived, and elevates the character development, the conflicts and inner turmoil of each character, which is especially important in this game, for reason I will be going into in the next topic.

    - Story. I cannot emphasize this enough: The story/narrative of this game is one of the most exquisite experiences I've ever had the pleasure to play. I am still devastated and thinking about this game's story. It is a bleak commentary on a vicious cycle of hatred and vengeance. A difficult look at the moral conflicts and failings in all of us. There were moments where it was hard not to look away. Where I wanted to intervene and stop the characters from acting in the way the game was asking me to act through them. It is full of despair, kindness and violence intertwined in such a difficult, grey, human manner that harshly rises above our infantile fantasies of heroes, villains and justice.
    The story was, for me, its standout feature. Which makes sense, considering it was also the case for the first game.

    LGBTQ representation - I am only including this category to express my deep gratitude to Naughty Dog for having the courage to write LGBTQ characters in such a big, important way. As a gay man, I am not ignorant to the constant struggle, decades upon decades, of representing any type of LGBTQ person or story in any media, let alone big AAA videogames. The culture war homophobic fanatics may try to convince you that there's an overabundance of queer representation, that there's a harmful agenda, that it's ruining videogames and other media. It's the farthest thing from the truth. These are mere battlegrounds for their culture wars, concern trolling for the sake of denigrating these types of media. Unfortunately, there's still massive resistance to the highlight of queer stories, and it often manifests in hate campaigns that mask themselves under other pretexts. Which is one of the reasons I so admire Naughty Dog's boldness in pursuing these stories, despite years and years of concentrated efforts to the contrary by those who would see us pushed to the margin, ignored and made to feel excluded from mainstream society.

    All in all, this game has been one of the best gaming experiences of my life. And if, like me, you were reluctant to play it because of the negative community perception, my only advice is try it for yourself. Because you may be rejecting a spectacular game for reasons that are beyond the game itself.    … Expand

However, it quickly became tedious, the game lacks action set pieces like uncharted series which provide some variation. The world is absolutely stunning and looks cruel and unforgiving. This is definitely the best looking game on PlayStation. I particularly enjoyed the more open areas where I could explore the ruined buildings and gaze at the amazing details. The atmosphere is dark, charmless and inhospitable which greatly helps you to immerse yourself in this beautifully crafted world. The voice acting likewise is extremely good, the actors did a phenomenal job. However, the first game was not praised for its cutting edge graphics or revolutionary gameplay but for its immersive and truly groundbreaking storytelling. The Last of Us 2 story is an unmitigated disaster, the game fails to form a connection between the player and the new characters the way the original did. The plot is full of horror and outrageous scenes just for the sake of it and lacks narrative cohesion. What I disliked the most was the constant jumping between flashbacks and current time events, although the flashbacks were arguably the highlight of the game, it took away from the immersion, it would have been great if the game started off with the flashbacks and then played out as a continuous story. The characters undergo almost no development throughout the game and as the player we do not get involved in their individual stories and experiences. Most of the characters returning from the original game are almost unrecognisable. The game reminds of Game of Thrones season 8 and Star Wars: the last Jedi where ‘subverting expectation’ was more important than creating a compelling storyline. If you enjoyed the original game because of the gameplay, you will have an absolute blast with this game. However if you were looking for a continuation of one of the best video game stories ever, you are in for a huge disappointment.

    The game is NOT garbage nor a masterpiece. I enjoyed certain aspects of this game but the story was not one of them. I highly recommended waiting for a sale or buying a pre-owned copy. You can pick one fairly cheap off eBay. The place is flooded with this game.    … Expand

    Excellent game overall, graphics are one of best I have seen, the level design and detail is astonishing and truly transfers you into a post apocalyptic world. Gameplay and combat system is fun too, although not revolutionary. Story is not bad either and doesn't deserve all the criticism it's getting.

    Story-wise, the directors spat on our faces with really bad choices ( And some very illogic ones near the end ). The game is far from TLOU1.
    I don't think making us hate a character then forcing us to play this one is a good strategy. We won't feel empathy with someone we don't like. I was waiting to play someone I liked, and ended up frustrated for a good part of the game.

    Imagine playing The Witcher, but instead of Geralt, you just play as some idiot you don't like and are forced to go and ruin Geralt's day
    Some of ND's political choices were too much represented, and I don't think they would have been logical in a post-apocalyptic world.

    Everyone might not share the same disapointment with some events in the game, so I didn't count them in my grade.

    I am aware there is review bombing using some arguments I may have used too, but that doesn't mean they are not valid, and be certain that people putting straight 10 / 10 aren't better.    … Expand

    I loved Joel, of course I did. But Abby was not evil, she had a very good reason to kill Joel. She was no worse than Ellie, I'm sorry people have problems accepting this. I'm sorry you don't understand the message of this game and the reason Ellie didn't kill Abby. All of it was in the game and maybe y'all should have paid attention.     By far one of the most emotionally draining and amazing experiences I've ever had during my time playing video games. Is the plot controversial? Yes. That however doesn't take away from the great writing, graphics, and gameplay. I constantly found myself in awe of how immersive this was.     Сценарий! О боже! Не хочу сполейрить, пусть будет несколько поверхностная позиция касательно его - он шедевральный!

    Мое мнение, что The Last Of Us 2 - это ЮВЕЛИРНАЯ работа длиною в 7 лет над сценарием, графикой, физикой. То что удалось сделать Naughty Dog - редкость в наше время.

    Ребята огромное вам СПАСИБО за этот шедевр!

    С феминизмом, лесбиянством, гендреными темами в игре как по мне переборщили) У меня на эту тему свои взгляды, но только по этому судить игру не правильно считаю и занижать оценку. Я ставлю 10 из 10. В третей части таким щедрым скорее всего не буду, не люблю когда что-то прям сильно навязывают, как продавцы, которые стучаться к вам в двери что-бы что-то продать.

    Первая это продажные журналисты,вроде Лехи Айтипедии,Логвинова и Дрюзея,к примеру моим словам возьмём Лёху Айтипедию,он в своём обзоре говорил что он сочувствует Госпоже Халк (Эбби),однако если вспомнить начало игры,то именно она убила Джойла (протогониста первой части) и после этого ей невозможно сочувствовать и в конце игры Элли просто её отпускает,серёзно?И эти журналюги говорят что Нил Дракман гений а ещё игра испорчена ЛГБТ пропогандой (спасибо госпоже Саркисьян(сарказм))

But they ruined this trust I had in them not only with this game but also the way they react to the critics. The grafic and sound is great but the last of us is a story driven game and everyone could have written a better sequel in 10 minutes than that what naughty dog gave us.     There's not much I can write here that hasn't already been said either here or elsewhere by someone else.     It is really hard for me to fathom what went wrong in development, but this game is so inferior to the first one in the series that it's almost impossible to believe it was handled by the same studio. The only good thing that has carried over to Part II is the graphics. The game is visually stunning, and there are so many gorgeous views to be found in this game, indeed. So, huge kudos to whatever part of Naughty Dog's team handled the visual elements & art direction because they did a brilliant job, and it is the only thing I genuinely enjoyed. Is that enough to propel the score beyond 4 out of 10 though? I'm afraid not. At least not for me, a player that puts story & characters above everything else. I don't need photo-realistic graphics to save the game if the story and characters are well-written and fun to experience. This is why The Last of Us 1 will be played & remembered decades from now, while this game will be forgotten. All video games eventually become outdated in some way, but interesting (not necessarily likable) characters, good plot & fun gameplay continue to captivate players of different generations. The world still plays Half-Life 1 & 2, Bioshock (2007), Resident Evil (1-4) or pre-reboot Tomb Raider games -- because these games have stood the test of time. The Last of Us Part II is not timeless, it is a sad reflection of the time during which it was produced: the age of political correctness, SJW wokeness, and a time when feminism is used as a tool of oppression & censorship.

    I am a gay male by the way, and while I fully welcome the fact this game features same sex romance & homosexual characters -- I do not like the way the characters were handled -- In fact, it is hard to find any other defining characteristics of the main characters besides the fact they're gay which is exactly what you want to avoid as a writer/storyteller. Then there's the sexual aspect of those characters which is featured so prominently (sex scenes that contribute NOTHING worthwhile to the overall plot!!) just for the sake of controversy and generating support from the LGBTQ+ community, I presume.

    Ultimately, The Last of Us Part II is a shallow and empty experience that will go down in history as one of the most disappointing video game sequels of all time.    … Expand

    I love this game's amazing and fun graphics and gameplay. Maybe the story was a little jumbled around but it still conveyed a great message and I thought the ending was good. This is definitely a masterpiece for me and is a must-play.

    The Last of Us: Part II is the perfect game to end the PS4's legacy on, fitting considering that's what Part I was to the PS3. A delightful combination of incredibly detailed graphics, crisp and clean gameplay and a moving story that rivals some of the very best of the medium makes TLOU2 nothing short of a MASTERPIECE.

    Masterpiece! Do not listen frustrated people. They can't handle a really good but sad story. It is not reality it's a game. And it's amazing. Gameplay is also good (not the better but good) and graphics just wow.

    Pushing political agendas in such a blatant way that completely ruins the game's narrative is absolutely disgusting. If this game's strongest point was it's gameplay maybe I'd consider tolerating it to some extent but most of us wanted to experience the story. If I could give it a lower rating than zero I would gladly.

    Absolutely awesome game in all aspects.
    Graphics are maybe the best I've seen ever, music and sounds made perfectly.
    But the main aspect of The Last of Us Part II is a history.
    This is one of the most Anti-militaristic histories I know, with different, interesting characters and beautiful, but scary, world.
    I hope we'll see a worthy continue of the Last of Us world.

    The first half is very depressing and not really enjoyable. The second half really picks up the pace and is truly one of the best gaming experience you can have, in terms of gameplay and storytelling. Would have rated it a perfect 10 if not for the slow and depressing first half.

    Love the 1st game so much but this is a disaster.
    Visually the game is nice and Gameplay is fine, but the Story and Character Arcs are terrible. This isnt Call of Duty, Its The Last Of Us and storytelling is vital. And Part 2 is sub par.

Что касается левацкой повесточки с лгбт и прочей темой, там все каноны соблюдены, в виде бабыНе совсем понимаю откуда столько хейта к концовке. Геймплей немного прокачали со времен первой части, графика как всегда великолепна, с огромным количеством деталей, некоторые из которых даже не замечаются, но отлично работают на общее погружение.
    В целом мне первая часть понравилась больше, тем не менее это достойное продолжение достойной игры. Бесспорно игра года.    … Expand

You genuinely care about the characters and what happens to them. They are more than some 3D sprites in a video game, they are people you care about.

    Gameplay:
    Similar to the previous game but with a few additions. More of an evolution than a revolution. You get more weapons, the ability to go prone and more variability in encounters due to the environment. Also, certain enemies like dogs force you to change your tactics. However, it can be a litte repetitive. But mid-way through the game the gameplay changes up a fair bit. If you liked the first game’s gameplay, you will like this one too.
    Combat has significant weight to it; you aren’t just running and gunning like some unkillable soldier guy. The guns feel and sound the real thing. The shotgun kicks back like a mule and alerts everyone in the area. The bow is silent but need headshots if you want a kill and arrows are hard to come by. Every action in game requires a bit of planning and forethought and not just random shooting. On normal difficulty, stealth is pretty straightforward and easy; sometimes a little too easy.
    There are some other minor issues as well: too much micro exploring. Instead of taking in the beautiful vistas, you spend a lot of time looking at drawers and dark corners to find loot to craft items. Consider how essential these items are to combat, this is unavoidable. And this is probably the weakest part of an otherwise exceptionally good game.

    Art/Graphics:
    Everything in this game is incredibly detailed and feels so real. The lighting and scenery in some of the sequences like the subway are just top notch. Animation is likewise very detailed, and characters move life-like. Overall, one of the most beautiful games to date.

    Sound:
    The music and sounds are some of the best I have heard in a game. The sound design is excellent changes based on your environments: your footsteps are different when walking on concrete or sand. Rain sounds different if you are in back of truck or inside a building. The sounds enemies make when injured are intensely uncomfortable as they should be.
    Voice acting as with all naughty dog games is comparable to mainstream movies and sometimes better.

    Story: (This section has spoilers. They are marked)
    Games are quite unique among storytelling media in that it asks you to be an active participant and not simply go along for the ride. And Naughty Dogs is one of the best when it comes to storytelling using video games. The story of TLOU2 is probably the most divisive part of this game. Personally, l loved it. I am a huge fan of the first game and played it again just before playing this game. I feel that the story of part 2 does it justice and fits in the world of TLOU. It is very intense and sometimes outright unpleasant. I couldn’t stop thinking about it even when I stopped playing and I still can't. There are sequences in the game where you as a player do not want to do what the game asks you to do (and unlike something like the Witcher, you don't really have a choice). You have to accept the story that Naughty Dogs has decided to tell even when it is unpleasant. This has unfortunately led to a fair bit of backlash.
    *MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD*
    What happens to Joel was pretty much a guaranteed outcome even if the sheer brutality of the scene was a bit much. But it serves the narrative purpose of making us, the player ready to seek revenge. Also switching the perspective to Abby was likewise a great narrative choice and allows us to see the other side of the coin. Towards the end of the game, I just wanted Abby to live and would even go so far as to say that she had the moral high ground.
    *END OF SPOILERS*
    But this subversion of expectation is not something everyone appreciates (see also The Last Jedi). This possibly explains most of the backlash the game is getting and the disparity in audience and critic reviews. But if you are willing to give it a go, it will take you through one of the most compelling storytelling experiences in any media.    … Expand

    The graphics is just gorgeous and very detailed. You find a lot details just for a single scene, or something you just stumple upon details that most players will miss. It makes the world believable. There are some flaws with enemy encounters, though, like some encounters where you think no way a real human would survive this, but hey, it's a game. The levels are very linear, sometimes very noticeable, sometime not, most of the time it's just fine and I didn't mind much. Overall the sneaking/killing works very well and can be quite nerve wrecking (in a good sense).

    I do understand it's a polarizing game, for various reasons. You might not like some characters or the way the story develops, but it is in my opinion a good/well-told story (even though it's a cliche revenge story). Most main and secondary characters are neither black or white, they have likeable traits and dislikable flaws. It made me care for characters, hate others, think about them and their situations, I liked a lot of things in the story (and side stories) and there's few for me to complain about. The game really made me forget my surrounding and sucked me in at times, which is all I want of a game.    … Expand

    It's a game that does not hold your hand. If you care about the character's, it will hurt. A lot. But at the end, with reflection, I truly don't think this game could have been made any other way.

    You will either love it or hate it. Neither of those feelings are wrong. But so to, your feelings do not discount others.

Pacing was a little off but the story was great, Abby really didn't grow on me as much as the narrative intended her to but her set pieces did a fair job of humanizing her. Some decisions like lev suddenly leaving to get his mom or Jesse suddenly dying without being mourned felt a little off but the story maintained to be interesting enough to continue playing. Gameplay was on point, the mechanics from the previous game were improved upon greatly here. Seeing Ellie's growth or really her "downfall" was the biggest plus point for me, I really enjoyed playing as her and feeling what she was feeling and seeing how her sanity is tested throughout her story really showed something that other games haven't come close to displaying.… Expand

The thing about forcing you to play with HULK when I think NOBODY WAS INTERESTED IN HIS HISTORY and knowing what he does at the beginning, is forced to such an extent that it gives even anger. The ending is the most WTF you can imagine, in fact I'm sure they had planned to finish it at the Farm but what is the Epilogue they did it one last hour to try to move the player. They did not know how to end it after how the story has gone. I know many people hated Abby. But we kinda need to be in Abby's shoes. Joel killed her father. Abby gets her revenge,and violence leads to more violence. Ended up,Ellie and Abby lost everything and everyone they once cared for. Hence,"Revenge isn't bad but obsession ruins everything." I'll give the story 9/10, but the gameplay is definitely 10/10.     Играть было интересно и за Элли и за Эбби. Да умер Джоел, это печально.
    Но по сюжету раскрыли все карты и ты понимаешь, почему это произошло.
    Эбби потеряла отца, перенесла кучу всего, в конце жутко похудела и выглядела ужасно.. Я был очень рад даже, что Элли её отпустила.
    Геймплей, анимация, графика диалоги, бой с зомби, стрельба, крафт все на 10 баллов.
    Сюжет хоть и местечковый, но отличный, это серьёзная, сложная драма во время зомби апокалипсиса.
    Я не нашёл больших минусов в игре, кроме того, что много женщин и когда они с ребёнком в доме.. Как то не очень, на западе к этому привыкли, мы пока нет.
    Будет третья часть, очевидно. Надеюсь более глобально придумают, про эпидемию и тд.. Моя оценка 9.5/10, одна из лучших игр, во что я играл.    … Expand

    How the mighty naughty dog has fallen.the first last of us is a masterpiece.gameplay,graphic and music in the game is still great but the story is so depressing .it's like eating an expensive food expecting to have a complete satisfaction but instead left wanted.too much propaganda in a single game.a game was supposed to be fun.what's the point in gaming if it is as depressing as real life?

    I dunno what went wrong during the development or why the ceo thought the story is good the way it is presented in the game. I got the game spoiled but couldn't believe they would actually do something like this. Anyway I experienced it and gosh the story sucks. Unfortunately the rest of the game is only a minor improvement when compared to the first game. which is how my rating is being build up

    I really enjoyed the game. The story, the game mechanics. The best third person shooter and stealth t in the industry to date. Great graphics and animations. Never a game gave such a roller coaster of emotions. AI is great if you play on survivor + difficulty. Game is good for those with strong empathy, ability to reflect. It challenges people to personal growth. Wow. Please, go for TLOU 3.

    Y por cierto que tal le pareció el juego a mi me encanto hasta el final aunque de igual manera me hubiera gustado matar a Abby estuvo bien dejarla vivir porque al fin y acabo en el de TLOS es una cadena de venganza donde Abby terminó perdiendo a su padre, su novio entre " " y eso la condujo a la venganza y mató a Joel y después a Jesse por lo cual yo creo que ella entendió al final que ya no era necesario matar a Dina porque ya se había hecho el ojo por ojo y de igual manera Elli ya no la mató más que nada porque ya no tenia sentido matar la porque todo su enojo fue en realidad hacía ella misma porque no perdono a Joel a tiempo y se culpa porque se fue sin perdonarlo XD y lo más doloroso a como yo lo veo es que después de toda su aventura ya no puede tocar la guitarra como antes ya no puede tocar unos de los últimos regalos de Joel y es lo que más duele pero lo que sí seamos sinceros no supera el primer juego no se queda tan atrás pero si es muy divertido y se disfruta a lo grande y me gusto mucho

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
