If you're homophobic and sexist and refuse to play a game where the main character isn't a male and where most of the sex is non-heteronormative, you'll be unable to understand the plot of this game. If you are literally anyone else who actually paid attention to the story in part 1 and understand that Joel's actions were bound to have consequences and that Joel was a flawed human being, you'll be very interested in this game's storyline. The story is very innovative for this medium in that it makes the player think carefully about their character's actions and has you play as the villain almost as much as it has you play as the protagonist. At one point you play as the villain and defeat the protagonist. The game also draws comparisons between the villain and Joel and suggests that Joel is not so different from the woman who kills him. In fact, if Joel were in Abby's shoes, he undoubtedly would have done the same thing. Like Joel found Ellie, Abby finds Lev and grows as human being, finds a reason to live again. This is a game that really breaks new ground in storytelling. They found a way to tell a story that can only be done with a videogame. The exploration of how people deal with loss and the consequences is perfectly executed. It's also an intellectually, emotionally and morally challenging experience. Players who hate this game don't want a game that forces them to think critically.… Expand

    So sad to see a beautiful game to stagnate so badly. I gave 1/10, due to:
    1) Level design is stupidly linear
    2) Gameplay serves no purpose other than to slow you down a bit before the game shows you next cut scene. 3) The plot, after first hour (when you-know-who dies), is so predictable.     Pure garbage! Not because of the social issues people are complaining about, I could care less about all that noise. The story of Ellie was complete on part 1, a story based on another part of the world or country would have been the move. Also the game is buggy and unplayable at times.

    It’s ok. The gameplay is almost exactly like the first one but still pretty fun. Got bored after half way through. The story doesn’t keep you coming back like the first one. Graphics are awesome.

    1) story is HORRIBLE absolutely HORRIBLE. 2) playing as Abby sucked the story right out of me I honestly wanted to stop playing at first I wasn’t as excited anymore so Naughty Dog thought they had a good idea but it was a terrible idea to make half the game about a character who killed one of my all time fave characters. 3) way too many cut scenes WAY TOO MANY. 4) sex in a game was a nice touch if the girl didn’t look like Sylvester Stallone.     … Expand

    It's becoming increasingly apparent from the hate-filled review bombings that the M rating should also have a descriptor for emotional maturity, because clearly a lot of people can't handle even remotely challenging feelings.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, as we all know, this tail starts with an emotionally devastating and more or less irreverent blow to our much beloved anti-hero, Joel. This was horrifically painful to experience and immediately filled me with a rage that I wasn’t aware I was capable of. I tore through Seattle, marveling at its scenery and incredible graphic dynamics, but sparing no one. Mercy was not an act I cared to Provide. Not to one single soul- even to the point of killing Mel- I thought, **** that baby, but good! **** deserves it!” The next thing we know things have taken a light turn, everyone is semi-jovial and we are returning to Jackson. But then Abby is there and she kills Jesse and my ears are ringing with rage again. And then, perhaps most jarring of all, we cut to abby’s story- how they are connected. How Joel murdered her father for Ellie. How hurt and alone she felt. I didn’t want it. I wanted to hate her. But her story, it felt familiar, see, as it unraveled, I realized, her story was a foil for the story of Ellie and Joel in the first game. She grew as a person you as her story unraveled, she started out hating scars, but learned to love some of the aspects of their beliefs and two of their apostates. She risks life and limb to save them, in what starts out essentially as a blood debt but later becomes caring. You see her struggle to save lev from himself. And then it culminates in a David-esque battle ala part 1, versus Ellie. And the entire time you’re torn, you’re certain no matter how this goes, you will be crying. Abby suddenly has Dina, ready to kill her, when lev stops her- she realizes the truth: violence begets violence- and lets them go. You cut to a scene, a surreal scene that was foreshadowed in early conversations between Dina and Ellie on day one of Seattle, that is so beautiful and idyllic, you can’t imagine anything better, but you also see Ellie struggling- she’s a shell of a person, recalling only the trauma she experienced with Joel’s demise. And she decides to risk it all to go after Abby again. You feel so conflicted through these battles, why are we even doing this? This is stupid, why are you risking everything, you’re both hurt, let it go! But it culminated in the most heart-stopping, pain inducing battle ever, you are literally fighting two parts of yourself. When Ellie stops herself from killing Abby, you are left feeling so relieved it’s hard to wrap your head around all your feelings. You see that she literally lost everything in her pursuit of “justice.” Was it worth it? This tale made me dig deeper than any tale before it, it made me really work through my us vs them mentality. And that made the difficulty all the more challenging. I cannot wait to see a sequel- I have to know what happens next. And if you failed to see the artistry in what was done with this game, perhaps you’re looking at the wrong source for your discontent with it- perhaps you should be looking at yourself. It’s not all roses and sunshine, I will acknowledge killing/facing the dogs was super rough, and the transition was incredibly jarring, but beyond that, I can’t not give this game top marks.… Expand

However, outside of the controversial scenario, by which, from a strictly personal point of view, I was disappointed, I expected more. 7 years of waiting, a crazy promotion and ultimately the expected thrill. After watching many critical reviews and over 130+ worth of gameplay I am confident to say this game deserves a solid 9. Many point out plot holes in the game that could justifly be proven wrong. Many would say Joel death was all for nothing and Ellie gain nothing... but I disagree. Ellie towards the end regain humanity by saving Abby and peace within herself by having closure with Joel. I love that. Only criticism I have of the game is the love triangle Naughty Dawg tried to push with both characters (Abby and Ellie). Besides that I truly did enjoy this game.… Expand

However, I gotta I admit I had to take a break in order to play Abby’s part, because I was really angry when I finished Ellie’s part. This was 100% the game I was hoping for when they finally released this game after seven years from the original game. Loved every minute of this game and I’m sad it ended because now I have to wait for a potentially a third game.     A comfortable and simple gameplay;
    The well-staged Catsenes of the Stage;
    As such, there is no LGBT agenda;
    TLoU Part II - a worthy reception of the great original.

    P.s. The game was taken to the platinum trophy.

    This is easily one of the best games I've ever played, if not the best. I've played many of the PS4    **SPOILERS** Seriously, don't read this if you haven't played the game. That would ruin it and is a disservice to everyone who created it. It's an experience and is quite frankly interactive cinema mixed with a video game. You also shouldn't play it if you haven't played the first game.

    This is easily one of the best games I've ever played, if not the best. I've played many of the PS4 exclusives and is why I bought the console to begin with. I've played God of War twice through and played The Last of Us Remastered twice through as well. It's better than the first, builds on everything and all of the tension that was created in The Last of Us to a masterful and incredibly emotional story. I created an account just to write this because the game was an experience and was catharsis for me.

    There's human elements that it plays on throughout the game that are metaphoric about choice and what it means to take choices away from someone, the damage it does, and the chaos, heartbreak, love, violence, and domino effect things can have when it is done. The mental disturbance and lack of mental health that can be created when someone takes away your choice or your ability to decide things for yourself is ever present in Ellie and is shown in glimpses throughout the game all the way to the end.

    Abby's father took away Ellie's choice and made the decision to sacrifice her for the greater good of a supposed vaccine and science for the remaining human populace. Joel, who is no doubt her father figure, even though neither expressly state it out loud, was not given time to process the decision of doctors taking Ellie's life in hopes to benefit the greater good. So the ending of the first game unfolded the way that it did with Joel killing all of the FEDRA officers and doctors to break her out, then lying to Ellie because he loves her and cares for her deeply. That is clear through the acts in the first game and everything shown in the second. It's clear he sees her as the daughter he lost and that Ellie eventually does see him as a father. The emotional bond that is shown through these characters brought me to tears several times in this game.

    It was fairly obvious that Joel had killed somebody important to Abby but that doesn't take away from the story and it does help build it. Only later you find out that it was her father that Joel killed to get Ellie off the operating table. Abby's father was prepared to fight for Ellie's sacrifice, as shown in flashbacks when he grabs a scalpel and gets into a battle stance. The elephant in the room and the question not fully addressed, is why Abby's father didn't think there could possibly be more than 1 immune person out there. He is built up as this Firefly legend who is the only surgeon that could've created a vaccine against the virus. No one else could've done it, there is no other immune person out there, and once he was killed, the entire Firefly coalition dissolved and lost all hope for a cure. That's quite a stretch BUT it still worked. This was in the back of my mind but didn't ruin anything for me with the game.

    The story works, the game play is fantastic, the dual-play with Ellie, then Abby to go through the 3 days in Seattle is sublime and I wasn't expecting it. The flashbacks are also amazing and fun to watch/play. I had to take a breath and a break when I realized I would be placed in Abby's shoes for Day 1, 2, then 3. The empathy they created by doing this was an obvious ploy to your emotions as the game player BUT it still worked. I'll admit I didn't enjoy trying to kill Ellie in the theater and it felt weird but the game wasn't over at the point, there was still story and game play left, so who cares?

    A wrinkle in the game I thought they were going to drop was that Lev was immune and that when Abby was searching for a gas mask for him on Day 2 this was clever foreshadowing that it didn't matter to him. This never happened but discovering another immune person would create a fold of drama that resolved that lingering question in the back of my mind. But then that would swing too much empathy back toward Ellie. I digress.

    I've heard some people say this game ruined Ellie as a character for them because of her thirst for vengeance/revenge. To me, to say it's a basic revenge plot is too simple and the game and cinematics do not portray that. Ellie is very clearly suffering from mental health episodes, through her journal entries (if you read them), to her flashbacks, to her nightmare episode from simply knocking over a shovel toward the end of the game. It's very probable she has PTSD.

    Anyway, this game is an interactive masterpiece and try not to rush through it. It's amazing and a shame that people came on here in droves to give it a 0 rating to try and cancel the game. Truly sad. 10/10    … Expand

    Finally a game that explore deep subjects. Well written. Gameplay is fantastic, but a bit hard at normal due to the fact that they don't give you a lot of bullets. Nonetheless, good successor to the Part 1. I can't wait to see where they bring this franchise next.

The storyline broke my heart and I absolutely loved it. Not every single story is gonna work out the way you want it to. The story revolved around the themes of revenge cycles and forgiveness and I believe the writers did a good job. I am so sick of people claiming that a storyline is bad just because a beloved character dies. The ending made sense, it just didn’t go the way some people expected it to, thus the bad reviews.     I was highly expecting the arrival of TLOU2. The graphics if this game are brilliant. Combat is brutal and enemies plentiful. Story is well crafted. The aspect of Open World and exploring for supplies works well. I honestly enjoyed this game.

It seems like every new character introduced has some sort of ‘characteristic’ or ‘trait’ to appease a certain audience. The story a conglomerate of political ideologies, trying to address all current societal issues.     The graphics and voice acting are amazing, the story has so many twists and turns which is helped by the combat. Abby is also a character you begin to care for as the story progresses.

The first game was all about the story and the relationship that Joel and Ellie had together overcoming the apocalyptic world that they live in. The story on the first game was phenomenal. Killing Joel off they way they did not only pissed me off and I'm sure pissed a lot of people off, it gave the game a sour taste in my mouth for a long while. The push in the sexuality in this game is also rediculous. It makes the story dull and less interesting because it takes away from the post apocalyptic world that the story takes place in just like the walking dead has done in the later seasons. I understand the point they were trying to make with this game but they could have done a way better job doing it. I dont think I'm going to reccomend this game to anyone. The story shows up the actions turning into huge consequences affecting everyone by the means of revenge, violence, love and hate makes the characters interesting for how human and real they are. There are no forced SJW or LGBTQ+ elements shoved through you it is just what it is and there are no trans characters in the game just to clarify. This is one of the boldest move that the franchise had given showing a different path than the air tight story of Joel and Ellie from each other but it still has the creativity of making a very outstanding game than other repititive elements you see from other games. I think that it was a powerful and grounded game. It delves into consequences of actions, and sometimes the smallest decision can have the worst consequence. This is a world with no laws or rules to hold people accountable. Justice can be sought out by anyone, but justice also varies based on the perspective. And that is what this game shows.
    I loved getting to see how Abby and Ellie's paths affected each other. I thought it was heartbreaking when I knew Abby was seeing one of her friends for the last time, and that really made me think about how willing I was to hit the square button while playing as Ellie. When I began playing as Abby, I didn't like her, I didn't like what she did, and they make really you take over at a very tense moment. But the longer I played as her, the more I felt bad for her. Although, I still didn't enjoy fighting Ellie as Abby, and it was a hard fight too (proud of Ellie for that).
    The attention to detail in this game was absolutely amazing. You can really see the time and effort that was put into it. The gameplay was fun, and using stealth and the tools on hand to take out large groups of enemies was a rush. The dodge button and the jump button were so useful as there were countless times I found myself using them even when it wasn't necessary because they were such a great addition to the gameplay.
    While I still don't know how I feel about the ending, I have to admit, this was a beautifully done game with a powerful story.    … Expand

So l saw the leaks and for me the game was ruined and hated Neil druckmaan but once it came out my friends were saying it was a good game so l decided to try it for myself and l gotta say l wasn't disappointed, the games was full of anxitey moments and you didn't know what was gonna happen like the scene where Ellie gets ambushed in the theater but there was some bad writing mainly which is Joel's death
    I feel like that coulve been done better like him sacrificing himself for Ellie that would've been more emotional
    And as for the ending, it was depressing and unexpected and hitting you in many ways

I give it a 1 because the graphics are amazing but I would rather play the first one with minecraft graphics than this one any time. The story gets a 0. You would think in 2020 writers would get past plot armor and clichés. Not only is the story bad, it also doesn't make sense. In the first game Tommy almost doesn't lets his own brother enter Jackson and in this game he just goes "Yeah, down the hill, come with us, restock.. might as well tell you our patrol schedules. This is Joel. In case you are wondering he used to smuggle things and oh yeah, years ago the fireflies were about to kill his daughter so he killed them first. I am telling you this because there are millions of Joel in America. Wouldn't want to kill the wrong one". Same thing goes for Joel, reluctant to help 'injured' guy on the road but somehow trusts a random girl the same size as he is...
    Also, knowing their past as hunters and the fact that Joel literally killed a hospital full of fireflies they shouldn't openly say their names to random people and in the middle of a huge group of them while being alone and outnumbered...
    When Ellie opens the door and sees Abby beat Joel, she could easily shoot her but no let's look at her and go in without checking the room or anything.. as if Joel and Tommy could be taken out by a single random woman..
    The entire story should not take place. You would expect mistakes from beginners but not people who survived in a post apocaliptic world for years and learned their lessons. Aside from the plot holes, the characters just aren't interesting. When Abby killed Jesse I was just 'wow' but could not care less. Same would have been the case with Dina. There is no emotion. Abby's story does not make you like her no matter how many dogs she pets. "She changes wow bla bla" yeah well, Ellie to Abby "she is pregnant... Abby-GOOD".
    Trust me when I tell you that I liked the Joel and Ellie flashbacks more than I did playing as Abby but those kinda don't fit in the way the story is told.

    I have NO idea why other reviews are so low. My guess is they take ONE negative element from the game and score the ENTIRETY of the game so low, that it raises eyebrows to the people who have never played it. The negative element of the game is apparently the story. There are a few instances in the story that don’t appeal to hardcore fanboys and fangirls of the first game. However, that’sI have NO idea why other reviews are so low. My guess is they take ONE negative element from the game and score the ENTIRETY of the game so low, that it raises eyebrows to the people who have never played it. The negative element of the game is apparently the story. There are a few instances in the story that don’t appeal to hardcore fanboys and fangirls of the first game. However, that’s the way the story is told, and who are WE, the players, to decide what the story should be? In life itself, things don’t always go our way in our own story, so why should that be in a video game?

    With that being said, the only real part of the story I will have to discredit is the ending. It feels empty and leaves a lot more to be desired. In fact, if they could chop off about two hours of gameplay from the end, I would have happily given the game a score of 10 out of 10. The graphics are immensely gorgeous, and very convincing. Shooting enemies and blowing chunks of gore off the bodies are incredibly satisfying. The infected, with a lot of the same types of infected, are just as frightening or more frightening as the previous game.

    The expressions and emotions that the characters convey are absolutely realistic.

    This game does not deserve the score that it’s been getting from other critics.

    So I will give it a solid 9 out of 10. If you are unsure about buying this game, just buy it! You will not be doing yourself any form of disservice.    … Expand

The last of us part ll es una experiencia de principio a fin y está a la altura de su predecesor, es un viaje de emociones felicidad, dolor, odio, pena, miedo, incertidumbre, traición, empatía, sin duda es una historia con un peso emocional que realmente se refleja en tus decisiones y hará que te cuestiones más de una vez en si lo que haces está bien o mal, es un juego que no debes jugar por separado, tendrás que haber jugado la primera entrega para sentir la pegada emocional en ésta segunda, sin duda un juego que debes experimentar.

    En cuanto al final de la historia, existen muchas opiniones pero la decisión final es simplemente una maravilla, al margen de que te guste o no el final es simplemente una forma de decirle al jugador que una verdadera historia sabe hasta donde llegar para darte esa explosión de emociones que pocos títulos te dan de manera tan prolija.
    Es un sabor agrio y dulce, pero es reconfortante y satisfactorio, al final de todo al fin se da a conocer esa humanidad tan ausente en este mundo destruido, simplemente increíble.

    Y para los que saben de que hablo y tienen otra opinión, "ella decidió cortar la cadena y cambiar el destino, porque no es capaz provocar el mismo dolor a otra persona"    … Expand

    Part 2 makes a lot better and I really had a lot of fun with the game! The story is cool and the controls have been improved (thank God!).
    It is a huge game, the sound was great...
    Unfortunately it is a bit too long.

    Basically this a very dark game(Story) equipped with the iconic The Last Of Us gameplay and a prominent way of storytelling. The part 1 ends with Ellie and Joel on there way to Jackson where Ellie asks and Joel promises ellie that whatever he told her about the fireflies was true and boom THE END, credits with that crazy music. Gustavo Santaolalla(Music Director of the two parts), lots of love for that music. Part II continues five years later where Ellie is an adult now, Joel is old and they're living a good life in jackson. Ellie makes some good friends in Jackson and one day she finds out the truth about the fireflies and then stops talking to Joel which is very sad but lets continue. In Jackson, Ellie and her friends with others go for rounds outside the Jackson to check for survivors and for infected. When they're on rounds something bad happens to ellie where someone who's close to her gets killed in front of her by one of the WLF soldiers who are also known as Wolves who've come from Seatle to kill that person. Now the whole game is about Ellie going to Seatle and taking revenge on the death of that person.

    THE REVIEW :
    First of all the graphics are soo good, cutscene to gameplay transition is smooth and there is so much attention to very subtle to subtle details.
    Second thing are the characters. Ellie was funny in part 1 but in part II she's changed. She's brutal and she gets so involved in the revenge that she couldn't control herself from killing anyone who comes in her way. Then comes Dina who is girlfriend of Ellie. it's an important character so I have nothing much to say. Joel is there, obviously, nothing 's much changed about him, he's the same brutal and handsome Joel. The voice actors are also great, Troy baker(Joel), Ashley Johnson(Ellie),Shannon Woodward(Dina), Laura Bailey who plays a role of another important character.
    The Third thing is Gameplay. there are two new Villian groups. Washington liberation Front(WLF) and Seraphites also known as scars. WLF are group of people who are not with the federals and live on themselves where as Seraphites is a cult who are deadly too. WLF uses dogs for finding their enemies and you've to kill the dog most of the times but its okay. it's just a game.
    I like both enemy groups. Enemy AI is smart. It makes the game realistic. And the common enemies, the infected, there are four types, Runners, Clickers, Shamblers and Stalkers. Each of them have their own way of difficulty while killing them.
    The Fourth and most Important thing is the Story, The story is good but the most important thing which i think the game director and one of the story writer Neil Druckmann and the other story writer Hailey Gross wanted to tell is the concept of Perspective.
    This game shows two perspectives, one is Ellie's and the other is the killer's perspective. If you see the two perspectives, then you'll find out that there is justice on both the sides. Thats where i liked Neil Druckmann's vision towards this game. There is no game I've ever played which is this different. Now the game's getting so much hate is mostly because of the sudden death of the person who's close to Ellie which was very unexpected. I too felt bad but i gave this game a chance and i do not regret my decision.

    Now this game is approx 25 to 35 hours long. And that is a point which I did not like in this game because it becomes a little repetitive. And other point is that the ending is a little weird while playing but it has it's own meaning and after finishing the game you'll realise why it has to end like that.

    i'd really appreciate Naughty Dog's risky and experimental approach towards this game and they knew people might not like but still they did it and I think they've succeeded it.

    I know some fans will not like this review but it's all your perspective, It's the way you see the game.

    I've played a lot of games like GTA, Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted Series, Batman Arkham Series, Lot of Spiderman games including Spiderman PS4, God of War, Assassins Creed games, Call of Duty games and a lot others. And this is my first review on a game.

    A Must Recommended game to everyone. Just try it and see it like a movie and you'll definitely love it :):):).

    Люди плачут насчёт Джоела, потому что этот персонаж был им дорог, но только тупой будет говорить что его слили, потому что по ходу сюжета первой части было очевидно что его найдут и попытаются наказать. О плюсах или минусах игры вы можете почитать или посмотреть у других.
    Моя отценка игре 8-9 баллов, но так как много людей просто так засрали игру, я поставлю десять что ты немного вытянуть её из не заслуженной отценки    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
