    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first entry to the series was incredible. However, the sequel didn’t even come close to the bar it set. This game is littered with political propaganda that doesn’t fit the narrative that was originally laid out in the first game. To find out that a character we played as for a majority of the first entry, isn’t even playable... just to be replaced by a flat out unlikable character, feels incredibly disappointing. The visuals don’t mean anything if the plot is this mishandled by a company that once put themselves at the top of storytelling. Shame on the writers of this pile of trash.… Expand

    Great Game! perfect Sound, made me angry, cry, fun and smile. It has it made me Play some combats in the end. with mi eyes closed. The detail of the game is So great. You have to be Mature To Understand de Story. And se it far from a Game.

Spoilers... te faz se sentir hipócrita vc fica puto com a vingança da abby quando mata o Joel ( ela vingou o pai dela ) porem apoiamos a Ellie a se vingar da abby por matar o Joel. e o final mostra como ela cresceu percebendo que a Vingança não traria nada a ela na verdade tiro dela, finalizou o game sozinha perdeu tudo. mostra bem como só se da valor quando perde, passou o inicio todo brava com o joel quando ele morreu, percebeu a falta que ele fez, e no final tinha a família dela com a dina e o bebe, abriu mão para fazer a vingança e quando percebeu já era tarde de mais e perdeu tudo novamente, ou seja só damos valor quando já é tarde de mais . historia incrível jogo que te quebra. uma otima historia na qual ninguém estava pronto… Expand

    Nice Graphics. Other than that you butchered the story from Last Of Us 1. The characters you made us love and fight for in TLOU1 were massacred for the sake of Neil Druckmann and Anita Sarkeesian trying to go all woke in their very poorly written story. You guys killed the franchise now. I hope you are happy. You butchered the main character. Enjoy your dumpster fire.

Al principio pense en solo ponerle un 5 o 6 pero decidi no darle importancia a la historia en si y solo sentrarme en el gameplay, y la verdad por lo menos esta entretenido pero su final da esa sensacion de que todo por lo que pasaste fue por nada digo si por un lado la trama no es solo la venganza de ellie, pero por el otro te lo van dice y dice cada 5 minutos que para al final te digan que "no, la venganza mata el alma y la envenena" no entonces para que? Pero el gameplay esta entretenido por eso un 7 la historia un poco floja y al inicio toma mucho "poder" sobre la sexualidad de ellie en lugar de hacerlo como en el dlc del uno que eso sea algo aparte que se sienta como una subtrama pero siento que te lo ponen en la cara los primeros 30 minutos.… Expand

    Lamentablemente cuando la gente recibe algo que no esperaba y no es de su agrado lo desprecian como si fuera la peor mierda que vieron. El Juego no es una obra maestra, ya que por el lado de los personajes, hay cosas que sobraban como por ejemplo: el exceso de inclusión. Ademas de que el Personaje de Ellie, el cual en el primer juego fue escrito y llevado a cabo de una manera espectacular,Lamentablemente cuando la gente recibe algo que no esperaba y no es de su agrado lo desprecian como si fuera la peor mierda que vieron. El Juego no es una obra maestra, ya que por el lado de los personajes, hay cosas que sobraban como por ejemplo: el exceso de inclusión. Ademas de que el Personaje de Ellie, el cual en el primer juego fue escrito y llevado a cabo de una manera espectacular, pierde un poco de calidad pero aun así sigue siendo bueno. Los personajes secundarios no son el otro mundo (unos con mas desarrollo que otros) pero los que destacan, lo hacen de buena manera.

    En verdad, es un juego muy duro y adulto que obviamente a cada uno le puede gustar mas o menos en ciertos aspectos (dependiendo de uno mismo) pero de un lado objetivo y innegablemente es uno de esos juego con una produccion y acabado totalmente extraordinario que se ven cada ciertos largos años pero que lamentablemente no merece el odio sin sentido que recibió.    … Expand

    El juego no es malo, unos gráficos espectaculares, unas físicas casi perfectas y todo esto junto y más, forman un realismo que da miedo, pero si hablamos de la historia deja mucho que desear, plantean momentos incoherentes, un desorden en la trama y errores inaceptables. Sinceramente, comparado con el primer juego es una vergüenza narrativa que deja mucho que desear a los jugadores.

    The game has horrific graphics and some decent, but repetitive action gameplay. Sadly the game is largely held back by very poor writing direction that seems intended to be annoying rather than interesting. So it has achieved its goal: it has annoyed me. I've played thru the game and immediately traded it for a better game, would not buy if I knew how bad this was.

    One of the best games I've played and entering my tip favorite game list. I honestly loved it, I cried, laughed and felt confused since it tries its best to make you feel empathy and feel at a loss of what to do and regret what you've done and it does an excellent job at it.     Amazing follow up to the original title, the story was great and multiple viewpoints added to the depth. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and the final acts really hit hard. I understand some of the criticism but none of it deserves negative scores it has. It takes a bit of critical thinking and extrapolation on the players part but it is an amazing story and narrative.

    Everything is excellent, except for the story. Secondary characters uninterested. The first game was incredible, the relationship between Joel and Elie was absolutely amazing. This game has none of that. The story is too ambitious. Conclusion ; the story is miserable

    Es un juego con una narrativa en su gran mayoría buena. Y que te lleva a continuar la historia, aunque eso sí la narrativa es muy muy larga y hay un punto en el que la narrativa del juego baja. Que es al final aparte de la narrativa, el Gameplays está más pulido que en el anterior juego pero es más fácil. El juego en sí es muy detallado, yo lo recomiendo a todo el que quiera pasar un buenEs un juego con una narrativa en su gran mayoría buena. Y que te lleva a continuar la historia, aunque eso sí la narrativa es muy muy larga y hay un punto en el que la narrativa del juego baja.     I think we don't have to talk about graphics or gameplay, which both were great. TLOU2 was a roller coaster of emotions and I never experienced such feelings in any game before. That's the thing making it a masterpiece.

How they sum up the ending and how it affects ellie was superb in my opinion. How you get to play the guitar all game bc Joel taught her how to play, and bc she can't let go of her vengeance she loses two fingers on her left hand. However, I only rated this game a 0/10. Mainly because it has the worst story I had every seen in my life. The story completely ruined every good thing about the game and make me regret spending 25+ hours on this piece of SXXT.

    Like I have no problem with Joel died in the game, but please make it reasonable. A man who used to not trust anyone in the first game will directly introduce himself and walk into a bunch of strangers with guns? Seriously? Not to mention why would anyone (including herself) send a pregnant woman to a battlefield while there are still a bunch of soldiers within the camp? What if you suddenly need to give birth? Not to mention how dangerous it is for pregnant woman to do strenuous exercise. Furthermore, why do you create a main character (Abby) with such disgusting double standard and illogical when making decisions? (Joel killed my dad, I kill Joel and I do not kill Ellie to let her kill my friends. and then said you wasted my sympathy of not killing you. Are you serious?) Yet you want me to play as her for half of the game. Upgrade all the guns to killed Jesse???
    There are still a lot more illogical/awkward/unnecessary scenes within the game that I did not want to waste my time for mentioning all of it. Whoever are interested, you can read the detailed explanations on reddit or youtube.

    To sum up, do not buy this piece of SXXT. This game only receive a 0 because you can not rate it negative.

    PS: I personally love female character as the lead (I love Horizon zero dawn) and I have plenty friends who are gay or lesbian. So stop saying that the reviewers who dislike the game are racist or any kind of -phobe. This game has the most terrible design in the story telling part and that is why we do not like the game.    … Expand

    I want to erase this game from my mind. This is a unnecessary sequel that shouldn't exist. The first game had real purpose and was emotionally satisfying to play throughout. The cliffhanger ending left us to use our imagination and fill in the questions unanswered.

    each time i come here and see the massive difference between 'critic' review and user review, I feel uncanny, as if 'critics' got paid for good reviews. What really matters are the people who actually play and care about it. Really disappointed in overall gameplay and storytelling. This is clearly not what the latter part of people wanted. Will not even bat an eye on this series again.

    This is the reason I dropped the score to a 7.

    Ellie lost Joel but she had it made on that Farm. She still had Dina, the baby, and Tommy! Ellies number 1 priority should have been the baby and Dina. Ellie decides to go after Abby, but Abby let Ellie go on 2 different occasions. I think Ellie should have let it go and enjoyed her life with Dina, and the baby. I noticed there was so much hate for Abby, but I feel like Abby is a much better person than Ellie. After months of Ellie searching she finally finds Abby who’s already been tortured for weeks. Ellie decides not to kill Abby at the end. I just think the story took a turn for the worst in the last chunk of this game. The game play was superb and I loved the variety of weapons. The graphics are some of the best I’ve ever seen. The cons out weight the pros, that's why I give it a 7.    … Expand

A lot of people have a problem with how the story uses post-modern structures, but to me it made me enjoy the game more. Jumping through time as two characters really nails home the emotions that our protagonists go through throughout the story. Without saying too much, the story is heart stopping and the gameplay is jaw dropping. From fear and sadness, to happiness or excitement; every emotion comes to play in the epic tale of revenge and sympathy. Haters of the game failed to understand the games dual narrative structure which was used to juxtapose two strong opposing characters to help the audience realize that the two aren't so different after all.… Expand

    We see Ellie going after Abby with a clear intention to kill her and avenge Joel.
    Ellie is full of pain, guilt, anger, and a sense of terrible loss.

    She goes for a killing spree without any second thoughts.
    When she finally gets to face off with Abby she clearly is defeated but spared because of Lev’s intervention.

    Ellie then tries to forget the whole story and let it go by moving in with Dina and JJ, hoping they will fill the void inside.
    But she still suffers from panic attacks and keeps seeing Joel’s crushed face.

    When Ellie goes after Abby for the second time and finally gets to her she witnesses how tortured and exhausted Abby and Lev are.
    She tries to simply let them go, but sees Joel’s disfigured face again and decides to finish Abby off.

    While strangling Abby she sees a flashback of alive Joel with a guitar and it stops her.
    (She actually remembers that whole flashback we see at the end, where she says she will try to forgive Joel)

    Ellie then says, “Just take him”, referring to Lev.
    She realizes that Abby and Lev are like Joel and Ellie before and that the actual murder will not bring her peace, it will just leave another kid without a ‘parent figure’ and perpetuate the cycle of hate.    … Expand

    An absolute masterpiece. Fantastic story and rewarding gameplay. You probably won't enjoy the story if you only enjoy straightforward simple narrative with black and white characters (and there is nothing wrong with that) so if that's your cup of tea don't expect much from the story. Definitely pick this game up and give it a go. Worth the money and might even make you think.

    I love ellie and I love the last of us part 2 however playing with abby is something that I do not like at all and the end of ellie seemed very sad to be the last of us that could be the last, but I stay with him time and moments spent with playing with ellie and it is an unforgettable experience.

    I put a grade 9 because of again **** up ending with a LOT of QUESTIONS, and because a few moments with main story between characters. I`ve played first part meybe 4 or 5 times. But this game, I`ll never play twice, because I don`t want to kill myself emotionally. So, I highly recommend this game to play, to normal people. Neil told us that he write this like an end of the story, but I think, fans will not give him an opportunity to leave it like that. I will dream about 3 part, and this EXACTLY should be THE LAST ONE.

A bold narrative choice to play the story of the killer of a beloved main character will unsettle a lot of fans, but I found this to be unique and gripping. The story forces you to question what is right and wrong when the world goes into violent, apocalyptic chaos. Gameplay is the same model as the first but with many quality of life improvements. I found myself engrossed in this world once again caring about characters old and new. Honestly this game delivered emotion much more effectively than most movies I've seen in recent years. If you enjoyed the first, i highly reccomend you give this sequel a shot. Interpret the impressively cinematic story for yourself, don't let negative reviews prevent you from experiencing this ride completely.… Expand

Многие игры, фильмы, книги забываются уже на следующий день. А эта игра все ещё сидит где то на подкорке. После прохождения ты продолжаешь думать о персонажах игры, как о живых людях. Думаешь об их поступках, судьбах и что немаловажно геймплее. Со многим в игре в плане сюжета можно быть не согласным. Это не та игра, где вы напрямую ассоциируете себя с персонажами и наверно это одна из главных причин, почему игроки встретили ее смешанными отзывами. В середине игры, вам захочется ее бросить. «Пересильте» это желание и продолжайте играть. Пройдите ее целиком и обязательно самостоятельно, а не на стримах и т.п. Геймплей может выглядеть скучным только со стороны. У ND впервые со второго Uncharted удалось грамотно собрать все геймплейные элементы, которые они привносили в свои игры с тех пор, и заставить их работать как слаженный механизм. Работает стелс, работает ИИ, который пытается обходить тебя со спины, заставляя тебя менять позицию и укрытия, работает вертикальный геймплей. Если и не каждая, то очень многие сцены схваток запоминаются, как это было в Uncharted 2.
    В общем играйте сами и обязательно пройдите игру до конца, переварите концовку несколько дней и вот тогда вы кайфонете.    … Expand

    Positives:

    The technical elements in this game are seriously outstanding:

    The level design complements the somewhat basic but functional gameplay very well. For a linear game, the level designers did everything in their power to give players tense encounters with different approaches, options and generous environmental layouts to play with. The levels are consistently open and natural-feeling without reminding you that it's mostly linear. There's good level variety alongside some impressive set-pieces that never felt out-of-place thematically.

    The seamless animation work is truly next-gen. Combat and movement animations, motion capture, lip-sync, facial animations, and the sense of emotion conveyed through them is industry-leading, and will likely be for many years.

    The world lighting, foliage density, detail density, overall graphical presentation, and cutscene presentation all break the boundaries of anything done before it, especially on current console hardware.

    There's a clear focus on attention to detail with everything being so meticulously detailed with subtle finishing touches here and there, which is really impressive with how consistent it is. Especially in a game of this scale.

    Finally, the sound design in the sense of ambiance/environment, reverberation/space, impact and feedback are all top notch. The strong choice of acoustic soundtrack really sells the art direction, thematic moments, and the feeling of authenticity.

    Constructive Criticism:

    The story and its themes could've been better presented with an emphasis on select characters being more meaningful. At a glance, there are simply TOO MANY characters which made it impossible to develop them all, or even half of them in meaningful ways.

    Similarly, the amount of unfinished subplot bloat could be trimmed down, making room to explore some of the more interesting subplots that were unfinished or underdeveloped.

    Plot points and characters also at times have an artificial "forced" quality to them, with unjustified actions that aren't expanded upon; The story rarely "flows" as it should. These jarring moments in particular can be attributed to poor story planning and writing.

    Lastly, there are too many harsh jumpcuts with the needlessly hectic timeline that often ruins the pacing of the game and dumbfounds the audience. This approach of storytelling makes it difficult to feel attached or invested when you already know the eventual outcome of what happens. This should be kept to a minimum when writing a coherent story, as it also ruins any possibility of suspense.

    Some of the best moments in the game are where the events progress chronologically and manage to provoke suspense, and the moments where there's sections of character-building and world-building. This is all indicative that more of these moments are desperately needed in the game.

    Summary:

    Overall, the technical marvels of this game is not put to good use when it tunnel-visions a shallow theme that ultimately rings hollow and isn't very meaningful at the end of the game.

    Many people including myself would've wanted to explore the more intriguing aspects of apocalyptic society in The Last of Us' universe, instead of the story we got in Part II.    … Expand

Seemless transitions from gameplay to cutscenes, great cinematics and gameplay. It's a nice long beefy story. When you're really enjoying a game, you don't want it to end. This game satisfies in that regard. We take things for granted at times as far as gameplay, controls, transitions, etc. I'm now playing Ghost of Tsushima which is a fun game but TLOU2 is just a more polished experience. I think some folks are just never satisfied. I like Ghost of Tsushima but I have no idea how it could be rated higher than this game. It's one of the best ever made in my opinion. Naughty Dog is the best developer out there right now.

    My only gripe is that they killed Joel. I see how it sets the arc for the story but they could have done it another way besides killing him. They could have made it so he was badly beaten and Ellie set out for revenge and then incorporated him late in the game somehow after he'd recovered. Just one idea. I did feel like they were force feeding LGBTQ representation down our throat by not only consistently reminding us that Ellie is a lesbian but putting a transgender character in the game as well. Just seemed like it was forced and meanwhile they kill off the male lead in the beginning of the game. I think every fan of this game wanted some more time to play as Joel and that was a failure. I didn't have a problem with Ellie taking the lead but give us some Joel too!    … Expand

However in this LoU2 I felt like the whole experience was a chore and I stopped playing stealthily and instead switch to bunny hopping and kiting infected towards the people just to end the level quicker. Instead, Naughty Dog spent the entire second half of the game insulting the main characters and demonizing them unjustly while trying to pass of the villains as some morale judges who are right in every decision they make. Instead you should have used the second half to develop Tommy further or given us more context into the whole Ellie/Joel/ Dina relationship.

    That is my whole problem with the game. I don't care about politics, LGBTQ+ controversies. I am not insulted by any of that, I just hate the way the story was developed and how I regret wasting my time speedrunning the second half.    … Expand

    The story is excellent. It's clearly more mature than many people can handle. If you can't handle adult content, stay away. If you're not overly sensitive or a big baby, then you'll understand you're experiencing something special. It's clearly more mature than many people can handle. If you can't handle adult content, stay away. If you're not overly sensitive or a big baby, then you'll understand you're experiencing something special.     I've waited a week to allow what i've played sink in. Digesting it all. For me, graphic fidelity, animations, environments, atmosphere, game mechanics (stealth, crafting, progression) are top notch for me. ND deserves praise for that. I get the direction that ND was trying to tell...each story is like a 2 sided coin.

    It's pretty simple - both TLOU games are undoubtedly some of the best games ever made. If you think the story was poor, or there was no payoff or whatever, then you didn't understand it. You completely missed the message. Play it again and pay attention this time.

    This game shows you what real world survival is like. People you love disappear, leaders and those you trust let you down, and even the best get trapped by their own idea of what they "have" to do. I'm no expert on video games, (I'm bad at them actually, however I do love them) but the story and characters here prove video games are an art form. No doubt.

    Enough philosophy, the gameplay is basically close to the original, if you enjoyed desperately searching for supplies, crouching in a corner trying to fix yourself up before a clicker gets you, and exploring busted up areas of a city (all of this is gorgeous by the way) you won't be disappointed.

    Amazing throughout. Most of the other reviews are tinted by personal/political views, and they are not directly reviewing the quality of the game, neither technically or entertainment-wise.
    Just buy it, and enjoy it as a video game and nothing else.

    With overwhelmingly incredible animations, acting, level design, music and attention to detail, The Last of Us Part II has cemented itself as one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had in video games. While the story has proved divisive, I found its departure from my expectations to be a positive and not a negative.

    I loved the first game and I love the second. Everything from graphics through to story and gameplay is truly unique and amazing. This game doesn't deserve the hate it has gotten, Naughty dog have made another ground breaking game. The Last of Us part 2 isn't my new favourite game but it is definitely the best I have ever played.

From the positive side, the game looks great and the basic game play and battles work nicely. But that's about it, everything else discourages you to play the game.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
