-aiming(how is this still so bad)
-it felt like the writer wanted everyone to die. No happy endings. This part could be better.

To be fair.. i dont wanted Abby to die, but i disliked that Joel died. I guess it needed to be done to make the story.

The Resort part could have been removed. Didnt add anything.

The original TLoU is a masterpiece, and I'm really sad to see how Naughty Dog has ruined it. I'm not gonna review this game because it's already done for many people. I just come to say that this is not the game that they have been selling us during years. It's like if in the new God of War, someone kills Kratos and then Santa Monica forces us to play with his killer.
TLoU Part II is an offense to all the fans of the first game. They forced us to empathize with someone we don't care about. They have been selling us the trip of Ellie, Ellie in the cover, all the trailers about Ellie, EVERYTHING about Ellie, and at the moment of truth, they force us to play with Joel's killer, and, the worst of everything, after some hellish hours that we all play obliged, they forced us to destroy Ellie, to try to kill her, playing with Abbie. It's the cruelest and most disgusting way I've ever seen to laugh in the face of the fans. I'm sorry ND, but you have broken the masterpiece you did 7 years ago.

How to mess up a whole history that has been developed for many years in a couple of minutes. The game play, the graphics , places , characters, and everything was perfect for me , but it’s hard to see how you can mess a game so much just changing the merely history , just for that , all the hard work of animators , creators and more stuff comes to the trash just for a bad ending and I wasn’t expecting it to be a happy ending , but either the worse ending I have ever seen , I might not be able to understand the true meaning to this ending but for me it was crap, I tried to defend this game from a long time but after this, all that I can say is “ buy it if you want to spend some couple of hours enjoying a good gameplay and not caring about the history then buy it . While there would be much to say about the superb graphics, the beautiful environment and its skillful use in mood-setting, the challenging but fair combat (which can be tailored to your preferences), and the crafting system which hits the sweet spot between being too simple and too tedious, the real star in this game are the characters and the story.

Contrary to what some critics say, the story of this game actually takes the ending of its predecessor seriously and explores its ramification. You get to know characters affected by these events, and the game makes you care deeply about them — so when at some point they clash with our protagonist, you really don't know whom to root for. The game also makes you actually care about minor characters on (almost) every side of the many conflicts in this game, which leads to many gut-clenching events which often made me pause the game to reflect on what had just happened.

Oh, and — time and again — no one gets the easy way out. And this is where the game really shines and literally earns its “mature” label: When a story starts with the supposed hero slaughtering doctors and nurses in a hospital, who are on the verge of doing nothing less than saving humanity, an ending along the lines of “we killed the baddies, now everything is fine and everyone lived happily ever after”, which you see so often in movies and games, and some fans apparently expected, would be juvenile and rather empty.

This game is not juvenile and empty. It is mature, and it actually has something to say. It elevates gaming from pure entertainment to art (that happens to entertain hella lot!).

For me, the main criterion for any film or game is how much it engages me and how long after the end of the story I think about various scenes or plot details in general. And Last Of Us 2 - gave me a lot of food for thought and had a very strong emotional effect. Not to mention the visual beauty of the game, its crazy attention to the details and awesome soundtrack.

This, it's a huge landmark in gaming industry and it set a new standard in terms of story telling, gameplay, graphics. This game is ahead of its time and people are not honest with themselves and think that writers or content creators must create what the public wants. HAHA, this is not how art works:). Above all else, The Last of Us Part 2 puts your ability to face your own bias on the test. That said, I don't think that game developer Naught Dog expected it to be such a central theme in their game about revenge and the cycle of violence; what made it that way was the game's marketing and unfortunate leak weeks before its release. The fact that the game's premise was shaken to the core hours into the narrative, combined with the fact that people now knew that what they were getting was not what they expected, lead to them heading into the game with a strong opinion about its narrative choices, having to de facto handle their own bias from the moment they picked up the controller for the first time.

But let's talk about gameplay first. The Last of Us Part 2 take the best out of the first's mechanics, and expands upon it. Every encounter introduces a challenge: first you have to understand what's going on, then plan your strategy, and then execute it. And every time you start to feel that it's getting old, the game introduces a new mechanic that shakes things up and freshens up the experience: new tools, skills, enemy types, terrain structures and even play styles (upon which I will not extend).

For example, one of the core mechanics of the game is stealth movement, and in many cases where there is a huge cluster of enemies, you keep low by crawling through tall grass. At one point, though, the tall grass is traded for shallow water, where you can only crawl for so long before having to resurface, putting your potential over-reliance on the mechanic to the test.

The resources and skill systems are not too far from the standard: you can collect resources to craft utilities, upgrade your weapons, and improve your skills. In order to craft utilities such as health kits, molotov cocktails and stun grenades, you need to collect materials by looting every room and corner. In order to upgrade your weapons, you need to collect bolts by looting every room and corner. In order to upgrade your skills, you need to collect pills by... well, you got the hang of it. I personally did not mind the mindless looting - in fact, my strategy would usually be to wipe out every last enemy on stage so I can roam about and check every bathroom stall in Seattle, but at some point, mostly during the latter stretches of the game, I started giving up on such luxuries in favor of pursuing the story. I was already confident enough to not upgrade my character any more, and the game's pacing started to get to me.

Which brings me to my main issue with the game: the pacing. The game took me over 30 hours to beat, where the first took me just a little over 15. This was not due to an extremely longer story, but because the game features really, REALLY long tasks. While the premise of a specific section might be simple, you'll find yourself going off course multiple times, usually having to hack your way out of a basement through a horde of infected. That said, this is but a minor inconvenience and while the idea of fighting yet another horde is boring, the encounters themselves are actually diverse and oftentimes enjoyable.

Moving to the presentation, sound and art direction - they are superb. Naughty Dog have yet again proven that they deliver some of the best audiovisual experiences in gaming. Everything from the scenery to lighting to the characters themselves is beautifully rendered and almost without a hitch. Even when characters kiss or physically struggle, you almost never see any clipping. The textures of everything is high-res with no visible hiccups, from people to enemies to buildings and even grass.

The acting and direction are amazing. Whether you agree with the narrative choices or not, this production was not lazily put together. The actors do an incredible job conveying what the characters think and feel, and every interaction is engrossing to watch. The action sequences are immersive to a point where it's hard to tell where the cutscene ends and gameplay begins.

The Last of Us Part 2 is, in my opinion, a unique experience. While I tremendously enjoyed it, a lot of people were disappointed that it was not what they wanted it to be. And it's completely fine, you are fully entitled to feel let down, as you were promised a revenge story but did not get exactly that. But if you've decided to not play the game at all because of what other people say, then I urge you - give this game a chance!

If revenge is what you came for, you can simply lose one of the latter battles in Seattle on purpose, turn off the game, and go to bed knowing that justice was served. But by the time you actually get to that point, the game writers do their best to convince you of one thing: to hear them out. That, above all else, is what gives you the strength to follow the narrative through, even when your own bias is screaming at you that this is not the game that you wanted to play

Without fear of retribution, I can honestly say The Last of Us Part II is one of the most powerful, poignant pieces of media/cinema/literature/entertainment/storytelling I have ever experienced.

It's an incredibly intimate piece of literary work, and it needs to be analysed in that way.

Well-written; beautifully nuanced, smart, impactful, hard-to-swallow and thought-provoking; even more so than the first game. Ashley Johnson delivers another powerhouse performance in her work as Ellie. Laura Bailey and Troy Baker too, deserve an abundance of recognition.

I don't think there's an argument to be had that this game, on a technical level, is masterful. The level of detail is off-the-charts incredible; the sheer-quality and craftsmanship on display is unparalleled by anything/everything currently on the market. The gameplay, environments, level design, editing, cinematography, sound mixing and soundtrack/score - beyond fantastic.

If video games weren't already considered an art-form, they are now. The Last of Us Part II is this generation's apex mountain for video games. It's an extremely well-told tale of obsession; balancing themes of hope, humanity, vengeance, violence and acceptance. It's dark and deeply depressing and painful, but it's perfectly poetic and powerful all the more.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is for the storytelling part, as I was a backseat gamer for this game.

As a person who can't handle horror themed content but loves a good story I have decided to watch others play this game and the one before it.

We fell in love with Joel and Ellie in the first installment. When Joel killed all these people and rescued Ellie from death I felt relief but also knew that Joel just erased humanity's one shot to find a cure. He killed many people, including Abby's dad whom was the only person who could try and make a cure.

At the beginning of the second game Joel is killed by Abby in front of Ellie, and it immediately makes us hate her guts.
Then at the second half of the game we get to play as her again, get to hear her stories, see her past, her attachments to her dad (again, Joel killed him) and her friends that we just killed as Ellie. I don't know about you guys - but by the end of the game I just hoped they would stop trying to kill each other. They hurt each other enough. Even though I feel like I can't forgive Abby for what she had done I also feel like I no longer has a desire to see Ellie kills her.

So when Ellie finally let go, I was relieved.

The story did it's job by making me see the other side and eventually get off the revenge horse they had put me on in the first place.
Abby's revenge ruined her relationships and got her friends killed.
Ellie's revenge got Jesse killed and almost Dina, and might have ruined her relationship with her.
So now it's time to let go and focus on the things that truly matters.

I gave it an 8 out of 10 because it was not executed, in my opinion, in a way that was compelling enough to make you super invested in both Ellie's and Abby's stories. It's only around when they actually get to confront each other that it got interesting and intense. But their journeys for the most part was not as such.

Я прошёл игру месяц назад, но до сих пор о ней вспоминаю. Хочу теперь купить PS5 и пройти Remastered, как это было с первой частью. Игра невозможно красива, если вы влюбились в постапокалиптический мир The last of us. Я думаю, что The last of part 2 повлияет на индустрию игр в будущем.
Надеюсь Naughty Dog будет продолжать The last of us, например, можно сделать приквел о Джоэле, Тесс и Томми до начала истории первой части. И надеюсь его не придётся ждать так долго.

At times the game seems to be a very odd pace, for example there will be a major firefight then intense battle with infected then nothing... nothing but exploring for an extended period of time and collecting items for the next big fight. This would be my only thing I dislike about the game, the uneven pacing involved. Other then that I loved the game. At certain times it was hard to play because of how intense the storyline is. Neil druckman was not kidding when he said this game is about the vicious horrible cycle of violence, there is no real bad guys in the game, no right or wrong. Just violence, hate and revenge, but pieced together in a way you understand and see why it is happening between the different groups of people. It forces you to see the differnt points of view, and even tho you might not like certain characters in the game for the things they’ve done or the choices they make, after time you’ll come to understand fully why each character does the things they do, even if their actions are HORRIBLE,
But, this game is amazing. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND playing it, at times you’ll want to shut it off and quit playing. DONT, keep going, keep going till you reach the end.

The game-play was similar to the first but funner, i also enjoyed the addition of a new type of infected as well as one of the later bosses.

I also enjoyed a lot of the story, but not the parts I originally thought I would.
The game is split between two perspectives. You've got Ellie's first, then Abby's. I ended up enjoying the second half of the game more than the first. In fact, if the game only focused on Abby's campaign, it would have been stronger. Other than the infamous scene in the beginning of the game, Ellie's route didn't really make me feel any kind of way and I had a hard time caring about her companions. Dina didn't have as much depth as I would have hoped, and I quickly got more attached to Abby's companions.
The game-play in Ellie's route became very repetitive and boring after a while, where is Abby's seemed to kick up the pace a lot.
The biggest issue I had with the story was the epilogue. I can see what the writer's were trying to go for, but it left me feeling kind of sad.
There was a lot going on in this game, almost like they were trying do too much at once. It felt like two different games combined into one. Because of this some things aren't as fleshed out as i would of liked, such as a couple of the factions.

All in all it's a solid game, I definitely plan on replaying it. It doesn't live up to the first's reputation, but if you're a fan of the series I think it's worth a shot. Just be prepared for it to yank on your heartstrings.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I finished TLOU2 a few weeks ago. I did it in the span of 5 days. The game is amazing looking, you could say best graphics ever, until the next big game that is. Graphics are not as important to me as the gameplay and story are for my experience to be enjoyable. Being a father of three and fully employed my time is very valuable to me. So when I choose to take my limited time to play through something as dark as this for a few hours at a time it had better be worth it. The good news is that it is. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was surprised around every corner for the most part. I loved Abby as a character and even though she kills Joel in the opening few hours. I learned to care about her and her story. However the big twist in why she was after Joel in the first place I saw coming a mile away, from the beginning prologue and also one of the most talked about parts in the late game of the first game. I knew that Doctor was her dad. So that was a big revelation that I kinda figured out on my own. I was also pretty sure Joel was going to Die as well due to the Marketing. It was either Joel, Dina or Tommy. I just assumed it was Joel because it would have the biggest impact. I don't fault the writing in this game. Although a bit drawn out in the end. It's Naughty Dogs story to tell. Is it where I saw it going? Not at all. Was it still interesting. Hell yeah. Some of the relationships and sex scenes made me uncomfortable but I am sure homosexual gamers have felt uncomfortable while sitting through heterosexual relationships and sex scenes, so yeah I get it. Not everything has to or should fit in that box. That Abby sex scene though, especially made me feel shocked. It was like watching Rambo getting pegged from behind. I don't know what a equivalent would be for the LGBTQ community but I kinda got a Asexual killing machine vibe from Abby and that seemed kinda forced. However like I said it's their story to tell and I enjoyed 96% of it. The last three hours though I just wanted it to end. Gameplay was great for the most part. The combination of stealth and action are quite exciting and tense. However the majority of the time I just took everyone out right at the beginning of the fight. Only a few times was I strategic. Making a bad Video Game is hard I could only imagine the work that went into this great game. It is great. However it's not a classic like the original. But it's damn close. The whole commentary on violence seems a bit pretentious. I mean the game forces you to kill. Neil Stickman should play Undertale. It's been done already and better with worse graphics. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story is poor, Ellie kills hundreds of people to find Abby and then just lets her live in the end. Did Naughty Dog forget Ellie in part one saying “after all we’ve been through? After everything that I’ve done? It can’t be for nothing” when Joe tries to convince her to forget about the Fireflies? They don’t bother to have Ellie and Abby talk about anything in the end, nothing at all! TOO MANY coincidences, TOO MANY over looked details that have major impacts on the story. Don’t have the time and space to mention them all but you can look up some YouTube video’s. Not so immersive when it comes to how your actions affecting the game. Example: if you have a silencer on your gun when you confront Norah it’s removed by the gane when it goes to the cutscene. When some WLSs walk into the school you can shoot your un silenced gun at the door that THEY JUST WALKED THROUGH and they won’t walk back out to confront you. When you play as Abby and fight Ellie the first time Ellie can kill you, so the story should end right? Ellie gets revenge for Joe’s death but the game restarts at your last saved point. The story is forced. Also your companions can be in plain sight “hiding” and the enemies can rub up against them and nothing happens. So annoying. Also TOO much of the story is focused on Ellie’s lesbian relationships, don’t mind her being gay but the amount of focus is overkill, we get it. Y’all had SEVEN YEARS to make this story a masterpiece but failed sadly. I can list more bad but I’ll just end with the good. It’s a visually beautiful game and I love the combat and situations you’re put into. I will still play this game but not for the story although I do like the flashbacks of Ellie and Joe. I do appreciate the detail they put into the settlements as far as how they grow their own food and such, coming from a prepper who likes to see some realistic details. If they make a part three PLEASE DONT RUIN THE STORY!!!! Expand

In a world without Part 1 it's a solid 10. But this story… I don't know, I can't say it's perfect. Even at Ghost of Tsushima revenge story is better than here. But everything else is great. Visual part (not good in the beginning, but starts to shine later on), music, a lot of tiny details makes this game one of the best at this generation. But again, not perfect

The story is compelling throughout and the game, sound design, writing, and everything in between are outstanding! Way to go Naughty Dog in my eyes you have made yet another 10/10 game!

    !!SPOILERS!!

Everyone is hating on the death of one character but the whole premise of the game is revenge without the death what reason would there be for any of the events in the game.

I get everyone loves the character and I do too but I think the game does real justice to that character by paying tribute to them with thew flashback bits.

Honest opinion: the death scene wasn't the best they could have put up a bit more of a fight but that is my only criticism everything else is spot on. Seriously Naughty Dog 10/10 what an epic

This game has two significant aspects to it that earn it high praise, in my opinion - the technological advancement, and the narrative complexity.

To tackle the less complicated aspect first, the technological advancement of the game is undeniable - considering the game is on the platform that is now regarded as outdated, the strides it makes in the amount of detail, polish, and performance are incredible. The level of accuracy of physics, motion capture, weapon mechanics, sound technology, and lighting are miles above comparable AAA titles released this year on PS4.

To speak on the narrative spoiler-free, I will say upfront that when I finished my first playthrough of The Last Of Us Part II, I didn't 100% understand it. It left me emotionally drained and confused for some time. But it took thinking about the story just a little deeper, as well as refreshing my memory on the first installment of the series, that the storytelling of the second installment, shallow at first glance, started to unravel.

If you see people saying, "The plot fo this game is basically revenge is bad," I would safely assume they finished the game and never bothered to think about it any more than they had to. It saddens me that today's consumers expect to be fed direct and clear narrative off the bat and don't bother to analyze anything.

The truth is, there is a reason that the name of this installment is "The Last Of Us Part II" and not "The Last Of Us 2". It is not a new ark for the characters in the story - it is a continuation, which you have to keep in mind to understand what it is about. The point of the story, the motivations, and torments of the characters are directly connected to the first game.

So, as a piece of advice, before playing this game, refresh your memory of the first one. Take some time to form a solid understanding of its characters before taking on Part II. Because if you don't, you might not enjoy your time spent with the game and be left just as confused as I was when I first played it.

Overall, this game is very, very good. I would personally call it a masterpiece, even though I know a lot of people would disagree with me. It has certain flaws to it, but in my opinion, they are outweighed by its strengths, which is why I give it a 10 to recognize the amount of work and passion that the developers poured into this game.

The Last of Us Part 2 is a game about consequences, trauma, revenge, redemption, emotions and love. And all of this is very well portrayed by the almost impeccable direction. Which makes sense as more than two thousand people worked on the last of us 2, but for that many people working on a game, personally it ended up becoming disappointing.

Gameplay against humans is more difficult
The Last of Us Part 2 is a game about consequences, trauma, revenge, redemption, emotions and love. And all of this is very well portrayed by the almost impeccable direction. Which makes sense as more than two thousand people worked on the last of us 2, but for that many people working on a game, personally it ended up becoming disappointing.

Gameplay against humans is more difficult mainly thanks to dogs, but to balance you have silenced weapons. And against zombies easier thanks to new weapons, plenty of resources and Ellie's pocket knife. The addition of a Boss fight was interesting. The skill tree is much more complex than that of the first game, but most of the improvements are totally superfluous. The real problems are the fact that it is basically the same gameplay as 7 years ago and it ends up becoming quite repetitive and tedious towards the end of the Abby part, because you need to explore "all over again", the combat gets repetitive, your equipment and improvements are basically reset. Melee combat has improved, now it's more skill and less luck (except against dogs).

The level design remains great. Ellie's diary is a really bad addition, I never thought a diary would add so much depth to a character. The game is very linear 99% of the time but still has a lot of focus on exploration, there are those who like it and some who don't, personally I liked it.

The narrative again is very simple, but the feelings generated, the consequences of these simple actions on people and their emotions are very complex. And unfortunately the story focuses a lot on the development and personal drama of certain characters and there is very little development in the relationships between them (which was the focus of the first game), it hurt the game too much. This script is much better than that of the first game, much more directions and unpredictable events (in the first game there were exactly 2 that surprised me). But even with more events, these events end up being small and do not change the course of history much. The story of the first game is more 'solid' than that of this one, the general coverage was greater, it is easier for people to like it. For example: in the story of this one if you don't like Abby, half the game becomes horrible (for me it even worked). So it ends up being very personal if you think this game is better than the first, mainly because its strengths are different.

The problem with the way they "folded" the story was that the predictability of it would compromise on the other half, since the story was bound to happen in a certain way. In addition to the huge problem generated by you being totally immersed in Ellie's story and what will happen next, only you need to "reject" the same story to continue where you left off and when you get there you are no longer filled with hatred , grudge, thirst for revenge and full of the urgency of what will happen next. What could be a problem for many was the fact that the game humanized characters only after you killed them, so their deaths had no weight. Personally I didn't think it was so bad because I don't think they needed to have a narrative weight, the goal was to kill the characters out of anger at what happened to Joel, the problem was that their humanization for me was relatively useless, it wasn't bad or tedious, just unnecessary. You can argue that it served you to see the other side of the story and regret it, and it's all right. I also thought that Abby saving and caring so much about Lev and Yara was forced and the script knew it and ****

I found it very interesting how certain characters simply die with a shot to the head and thanks, you have to keep surviving and fighting. But the problem with this is that the script seems to have completely forgotten that they existed after their deaths, there is no more mention of them. And there is the fact that the dead characters are very superficial and have a tiny focus during the story. Another problem was that the first half of the game is far superior to the second and it bothers you during the game. And for some reason the writer appeals to pregnant women too much to make you care about the characters.

Joel's scene is very good but it happened too soon, it lost much of its impact. And this scene needed to be much more impactful, one way that I saw many talking about would be to put the flashbacks before his death would solve this. Maybe it would solve more I liked how all the flashbacks were embedded in the story (with the exception of the party flashback that Ellie kisses Dina, this one was too late for no reason and could have helped in the initial immersion of the game). I think they needed to have given more focus to Joel before he died, before the sequence of his death he doesn't even appear, if they had created some current everyday scenes of Ellie and Joel it would have been a lot better, but it looked like they wanted to rush right to it.

Gioco meraviglioso dalla grafica alla trama fino ai personaggi.
Comprendo perfettamente le scelte degli sviluppatori e approvo le loro decisioni fatte durante lo sviluppo del gioco.
    Complimenti! Consigliatissimo.

    Jesus people, calm down!
Can understand why the game got negative reviews. The game storyline is too “real” and dark (especially for 2020), the ending is kinda predictable. But overall, it is a good game. Graphics, gameplay is amazing

Its sad that people who didn't even play the game put on a rating and ruin the chance that others will even try it out. Also the game itself IS NOT BAD there are just a lot of unsatisfactual events that happen, its a rollercoaster of emotions and sometimes it makes you feel like sh** but the game itself is amazing so DO NOT trust the ratings, try it out for yourself you will not regret it

Unfortunately after 10 hrs in a 26 hrs of gameplay it does start become repetitive, I got such love for the first and I appreciate they wanted to create a single player experience lik the first but why are they trying to shove a narrative down our throat and not do anything truly different, the opportunity was there. This felt as a total let down for myself and others. He's one of the franchise protagonist from the main game and went through well with a brilliant story and people were looking forward to see them back after 7 years, The story is a cohesive mess, such a shame story wise compared to the graphics which it does make it absolutely gorgeous to look at. The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
