The Last of Us: Part II

There was something incredibly patronising about this game.
Compared to the first game, which let you discover the world and come to your own conclusions, it felt like TLOU2 just hit you over the head with corny cutscenes void of any nuance. The first one's ending made sense- the same cannot be said for this. Also, something being incredibly violent and morally ambiguous does not make it

The first one's ending made sense- the same cannot be said for this. Also, something being incredibly violent and morally ambiguous does not make it profound. This game could be a case study of this. This plot was not well-developed at all. They seemed to think it was complex, but Ellie's blind mission of revenge without questioning it at all was unbelievable and the opposite of this. I left the game feeling talked down to while the characters also felt repugnant, especially because in the end it was all so simplistic. My score reflects the graphics, which were absolutely stunning- the game had many moments of visual beauty.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. How do you take one of the most revolutionary, emotionally complex, deeply affecting video game concepts of all time and turn it into 30 hours of revenge porn? What brain dead moron green lit this script? It is just awful. The only high points are the fleeting moments you get to spend with Ellie and Joel. Their character chemistry is still top notch, but there’s sadly precious little of it. The rest of the game is filled with uninteresting, one dimensional characters whose motivations and relationships with each other make absolutely no sense. Oh, and one of the most forced, awkward sex scenes I’ve ever witnessed. The game mechanics, graphics, sound design, voice acting, etc., are all excellent. But Naughty Dog already set the bar for all of that in the first one. All they had to do here was meet it again (and I think they actually surpassed it in a lot of ways). But at the end of the day, a game like this is about the story and the characters, and TLOU2 falls well short in that regard. Where Joel’s story in the original was one of redemption, Ellie’s story here is basically “we’re going to kill the best character in the game almost immediately, then make you spend half the game playing as the psycho that beat him to death, and THEN, we’re gonna make you let her go and take everything from you, including your one remaining connection to him (guitar). Because f*** you, that’s why.”

As a sequel, this game just felt unnecessary. I’d have much rather they just left the original stand alone. It was a masterpiece in every sense. Part II added nothing for me, and I think ultimately only tarnishes one of the most lauded franchises in video game history.

Visuals, sounds, level design and actors are just stunning. And it ranks as the number 1 game for me regarding graphics and sound design.
I did not want to play Abby, because I had no sympathy for her, but how wrong I was. Abby is in many ways "a better human" than Ellie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a solid disappointment saying fans have waited 7 years, the characters we loved from the first game get little to no respect, within the first 2 hours of the game, the beginning looks promising starting with joel and ellie and joel singing for her, however it takes a sharp turn when Joel, a character we played as for the first game and we came to love, got beaten down with a golf club because of an NPC you kill in the first game. The story from then on feels empty, you are forced to play as a new character, Abby, who also is Joel’s killer, her character development was poor, made to play as a character for 10 hours who you have no attachment to and after she killed a key character to the story. The flashbacks between joel and ellie were the only parts of the game I enjoyed, mainly the museum flashback. The graphics are 10/10, the best I’ve seen and the accessibility controls are amazing, however the game just lacks everywhere else. Story and character development is way off from the first game and it just feels empty and like a chore to play. The ending is disappointing and empty, probably left for a third game for Abby, which I will not be getting. Overall I think the last of us 2 is an awfully written game, with the power of the graphics and gameplay I can only give it maximum a 4/10 as it is a predominately story based game with an awful story, however if there was a multiplayer I would play that as it has amazing graphics and really enjoyable gameplay. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing it because for the money it will just be disappointing. The LGBT aspects do not affect the game whatsoever and if someone has an issue with them in 2020 they’re the issue, not the characters. the whole “revenge is bad storyline” was executed poorly, as after butchering everyone on your way to Abby, you just let her go so loads of characters were killed for no reason, I understand what they tried to do, but unlike red dead 2 where a “revenge is bad” storyline is done well. Overall 4/10 which is upsetting because from the first game which was a masterpiece to this, it is very disappointing Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll start with the gameplay because it's a videogame, and that's the most important thing for a videogame.
If you liked the gameplay of The Last of Us, chances are, you'll love it here.
If you didn't, however, it probably won't win you over.

The Graphics are like next-gen, I've never seen a game that looks better and I'm more of a PC player, but something I like to say is that Graphics don't make the game, the gameplay does.

As for the story, what I have the most to say about...
So, The Last of Us is my favorite story ever with my favorite characters in all of gaming. Ellie's "It all can't be for nothing" Mentality and Joel's "You keep finding something to fight for" actually helped me a few times when I genuinely felt suicidal.
With the Last of Us 2, they said that they'd be honoring these characters, and I was pretty excited.
They basically ruined every last one of them.
I'll start by saying that the leaks are all true. (All except Abby being Transgender, she's just really muscular.)
Ellie says she's scared of ending up alone in the first game and in this one, she gets impaled by a tree and ends up alone, Tommy doesn't want to speak with her anymore, her girlfriend left her and took their kid, her father figure is dead, she can't even play the guitar that Joel taught her how to use because she's missing two fingers because Abby bit them off, and Ellie didn't even get to kill the person who killed Joel.
Joel dies in the most out of character way too, he saves Abby (the person who kills him) which is something Joel would not do if it meant risking himself or his brother, then when they're at safety, they just say their real names when they were former hunters and Joel must know he's being hunted after killing an entire f*cking hospital full of people trying to make a cure for the infection. Then, when Abby says his full name, he never told Abby that his last name was Miller, so he would've immediately said something like "N- No, what? My name's Joel Franklin, what the hell are you talking about?"
(Though, how she knew this was Joel makes sense. An Ex-Firefly told them that Tommy was there, and they know that Joel is Tommy's Brother because the group that kills him was Ex-Fireflies.)
And, to add onto that, Ellie doesn't kill Abby because she has a kid with her, even though Ellie was willing to slit the kid's throat just to get Abby to fight her when Abby was refusing to, meaning Ellie could've easily just finished her off with a single shotgun round, and if she was worried about the kid hunting her, she could've done the same to the kid.
I know killing a kid sounds bad, but you should see what Ellie does to the dogs in this game.
Ellie stabs them, shoots them, beats then, lights them on fire, you can even make them literally explode.
There is simply no way that this is honoring the characters like Naughty Dog said they would.

There are good moments though, like the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie, like at the beginning where Joel tells Tommy what happened with the Fireflies, then teaches Ellie how to play the Guitar, Ellie's 15th (?) Birthday where she pretends to be an astronaut, I thought these were really cute.
The one where Joel and Ellie look for Guitar Strings and Ellie almost dies to a Bloater was really cool, and the last two scenes near the middle and end of the game (If I recall correctly) where Ellie finds out what happened and has a mental breakdown, and the last scene where she says she was supposed to die there and her life "Would've f*cking mattered" were just amazing. After everyone who died to the infection, it makes sense that she would react this way.
However, these are some of the only good moments, which there are very little of. This is not a compliment.

I watched a No-Commentary Let's-Play on YouTube to see if the leaks were true and this game was actually worth buying and I want a refund.
I did not buy this game, I did not even *play* this game, and I want a refund.
If you are a fan of Naughty Dog or The Last of Us, please, save your money, stay as far away from this game as possible, and pretend that it doesn't exist, spend it on TF2 hats or CSGO crates or something because those are honestly better purchases than this game.

The Last of Us 2 lacks the love and care that The Last of Us and it's DLC, Left Behind had in 2013 and 2014. At the end of the day, I'm really glad this game got leaked because it saved me and plenty of others some money that we can now spend elsewhere.

And, before anybody calls me homophobic transphobic or racist since I've heard people are doing that with whoever dislikes this game, I just want to say that I'm dating two people (A Man and a Woman) and I'm Trans, so, please, shut up and get off your high horse, stop saying we're review bombing this because we're transphobic, homophobic, bots or whatever and just realize that this game seriously is not as good as you think it is.

    Sincerely, Charlotte Franklin.

Graphics and sound:. TLOU2 has some of the best graphics and sound of any recent PS4 release. There's no denying that Naughty Dog pushed the PS4 hardware up to its limit to maximize the games visual and sensory stimulation so you see and feel engrossed in your environment.

Gameplay: The gameplay of TLOU2 is serviceable. If you marathon both titles together, one will have a feeling of familiarity when jumping from one to the next, though I would argue that, much like Konami's Metal Gear Solid series experienced, any future titles should have a revamped control scheme developed to meet the demands of growth and development.

Story: Story..... oh the story.... This will be THE most divisive story ever developed for the PS4. And players will be divided into 3 camps:

    1) You think characters are disposable for plot purposes so you've limited your attachment to limit any emotional blow when they die or get injured.

    2) You've been with the franchise since the games debut on the PS3, feel a connection with them, and will (rightly) be outraged when they meet their untimely end, get hurt, or endure bodily harm for the sake of being a plot device.

    3) Feel indifferent because it's just a game title and you have little to no emotional investment in the game's universe.

I won't go into plot spoilers themselves. Reason being there's enough ranting about that. However, I will question the motivation behind the development of this game. It's come to light that Naughty Dog intentionally substituted characters into game demos shown to the press for the expressed purpose of misleading them, so they would go back and report it, then we could switch out said characters to conceal divisive plot points. The city of Seattle was intentionally selected so they would have justification for their inclusion of LBGT+ paraphernalia (To be clear, I have NOTHING against the LBGT community. This is about intent, not inclusion or the removal of said inclusion).

Not to mention every gaming journalist that received a review code was contract bound to ONLY talk about the Ellie chapter (hint) and was ONLY allowed to use media captures from 3 (THREE) specific sections of her chapter (which was also taken as misleading).

And finally, the dark, brutal narrative that's given for the sake of plot convenience makes little sense and subjects the player to extended, almost torture pornish levels of "shock value" in a misguided effort to make you "hate" characters. I found it difficult to sympathize with most everything happening. It was like the Neil Druckmann was trying SO hard to be M. Night Shyamalan and include as many twists as he could but in the process out thought himself. And for what? Alienating 2/3 of your fanbase?

What got me the most was a troubling scene that literally so graphic, so gory, so vicious, I physically got ill. It made me want to puke. And I enjoy horror, just not graphic gore of characters I'm supposed to sympathize with.

tl;dr conclusion: We live in an age where games are streamed and playthroughs are uploaded to various sites: YouTube, Twitch, etc. If you're unsure and came here looking for something to sell you on this game, watch a playthrough. Just the first few hours. If it engages you, then you'll have your answer. If you're repulsed by what you see, there's your answer. But make this decision for yourself. There's a reason why the Critic Scores differ significantly from the user score. Hopefully this review helps you gain perspective on that.

Gameplay is really fun and the changing environments and levels means it doesn't feel repetitive. I'll replay it and I never do that. I don't think I've experienced a game on this level before. And it's a good thing that I have finished it cos I think if I talked about it for much longer my wife was going to move out.

I don't really understand the haters — basically it seems some people are simply way too attached to specific characters and where they think a story should predictably go. The same sort of people who thought the fan-service given at the end of Game of Thrones was awesome.

    Others are just bigots.

And I think it's likely that neither of them want to admit it. So they claim there are plot holes or that there are gameplay glitches or some other BS to explain why they're not happy.

The only valid reason I've really heard for why some people don't like it is that it is extremely bleak. If you're easily depressed or get too emotional. Perhaps Spyro the Dragon remaster would be a better option.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Since everyone agrees on the wonderful graphics and Technic-Specs of TLOU2 im gonna focus on the Story.
Heres the point: The story needs to work for you. It doesnt matter if naughty dog kills your favorite character or if you think that the characters act out of role because its all about empathy. You need to get over the fact that these characters are loved or not and accept that they are characters with a story and own emotions. This story is all about self-hate, revenge and forgiveness. Joels death is the necessary plotpoint the story needs to start driving. First the game wants you to feel the rage and the urge to kill every single one of the people involved in Joels death. Then the game wants you to play Abby, which many people struggle with. But in the end of the day the story workd for me, because playing abby made me not wanting to kill her anymore. Not because i started to like her, but because i understand her POV and her motives. Imma be honest and I hate to say this but: Joel deserved death. He betrayed humanity and killed a loving father. For Abby its te most natural reaction to want Joels death. At the end of Abbys part you beg her not to kill dina and ellie and thats what you get because she forgives ellie. And when you play ellie after that scene you dont want to play ellie because you stop wishing for her death. You stop wanting revenge because you feel the suffering from it. If the game gets you to feel this like it made me feel it it worked for you. And if it works for you this rollercoaster of emotions becomes a masterpiece.
8/10 bcs Gameplay became redundant. But the story works perfectly fine.
Ps: The last scene got me hard and if a Story gets you to feel this sorrow it is perfect.

Well done Naughty Dog, all the artists, cast, designers, writers, and musicians for producing a masterful example of a balanced and compelling account of the true cost of vengeance, a game in which there are no winners and everyone pays to play, like it or not.

For those who struggle to grasp this, read more...please. The simple act of reading a work of fiction inherently guides the mind to consider all sides of situations, putting one's self in the shoes of another. I suppose this should not come as a surprise, given the state of things in the world...but it is still disappointing that so many find it impossible to broaden their scope and view the humanity of others.

A real rollercoaster ride of emotion that I have not felt since the first iteration but I feel this is even more so. I know it has received a lot of hate from fans but personally speaking I do not think those criticisms are justified.

The gameplay is both fluid and brutal and is a huge step up from the first title. Graphically speaking it is without peer and the level of detail is out of this world amazing.

As a game about love, hate and loss and the consequences from ones actions combined with all the technical flourishes makes this game a flawless experience. I spent 41 hours with it almost reaching Platinum and now into new game plus, so I know the game inside and out and it was just an incredible experience for me.

I would highly recommend this if you are into brutal arthouse or grindhouse films/games. It was marketed as mainstream but it really isn't, I equate to films like 8mm or Ichi the Killer, brutal but brilliant at the same time.

    Good things:

It took the gameplay of the first game and enhance it 100%. The two main characters have different gameplay, upgrades and stuff, which contributes to deliver a better game.

The best of the industry in what animations respect. The faces animation are amazing, looks really close to real world.

Graphically is awesome, uses all the potential of the PS4 and the environments are beautiful.

The AI is really good, it has little to none problems. The human NPC's haves strategies to attack you. The variety of enemies is appreciable and is much more superior than the first game.

Dina's character is memorable, fits perfect with Ellie. One of ND's successes.

    Bad things:

All the new characters except Dina feels kind of empty. The character development is the antithesis of the first game, they're all easy to forget and you will not care about them.

The timeline is a mess. It is not a lineal story, you are constantly having flashbacks inside other flashbacks which takes away all the emotion.

The worst thing is that the game is constantly trying to confront the player, to confuse him and to make him feel guilty about the actions done or the actions you are going to do.

It has a lot of ultra violent scenes that are worthy of a madman.

The cordycepts infection is anecdotic. It has none effect in the story which is a wasted potential. Remembers me to Negan saga in TWD.

All Abby's story is a big mistake. The game shouldn't force you to play and care about her. However, after some hours I was able to understand her point, but Abby has nothing to do with what you loved from the first game and in the way she is presented to the player there is no chance to love the character. Only with two or three cinematics is enough to understand her point and if ND wanted to dive into her story, that should be a DLC not part of the main story.

    Conclusions:

The game is amazing in all aspects except the narrative, which is the most important thing in a game like this. It was seven large years waiting for this release, watching all new trailers and with very high expectations. I'm not disappointed at all but definitely the story was far away from what the fans expected. We don't ask for happy endings we just want you to be respectful with the essence of the first game and with the fans that payed and waited so long for this. They kept Abby hidden before game release because they knew no one would like her. Their forced inclusion sounds like some director's whim. This is not a game for everyone, anyway it is a must play if you own a PS4 and you liked Part I.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. English is not my first language, so please give me the benefit of the doubt, especially when discussing faith- and LGBTQ-issues.

Every once in a while a person is in a position where they are able to create a cultural artefact that’s a quantum leap above everything else in that artform. It takes a lot of talent, hard work and resources, along with help from other people, but they’re able to create something lasting that brings the culture in which they work forward in a big way. I think Neil Druckmann is in that position, and The last of us (part 1) is one of those quantum leaping artefacts. It tells a story that’s engaging and challenging and wraps it in gameplay that’s equally engaging and challenging and leaves you in that place where good art can’t take you but great art can: emotional uproar, not just satisfaction.

I think The Last of Us Part II is a great game, easily one of the best I’ve played, and a worthy sequel that builds upon the things that made the first game amazing and that also doesn’t shy away from trying to say something about the extremes of the human experience while still portraying things that are too often seen as extremes as completely un-dramatic. It is however a game of two parts: story and gameplay (and of course in many other ways too), and to me those two parts are not equally as impressive this time around.

While the ending in the first game leaves you with an open question, namely whether you too would sacrifice mankind and your daughter’s love to save her life, this sequel leaves you with a much more closed statement, namely that vengeance leads to the destruction of yourself and of that which is dear to you. That’s at the same time more hopeful than the ending of part 1, since at least the characters end up learning something, but also less satisfying since it is a story we have been told many times before, and it doesn’t pull the rug out from under you in the same way. I felt like someone had simultaneously punched me in my stomach and made all other games into childish toys after finishing the first game, and after this I just felt tired and drained and a little bit frustrated. Not because I think the thesis of the game isn’t a valid one, nor because I think I could have done it better myself, but mostly because it has at least three too many endings, and a couple of narrative beats towards the end that felt superfluous to me.

The gameplay part I really liked! It felt awesome to be a badass, both as Ellie and as Abby, and I liked how they made me play differently. Especially I liked how playing as Abby hade me take bigger risks and go in and out of stealth more than when playing as Ellie, where I felt like i failed if anyone saw me. I look forward to starting ng+ and take what I’ve learned from that into a new playthrough and bring a little more confidence.

I didn’t have that much trouble getting through any encounter (except for the damned rat-king...), but I felt like that was because I was playing well and making smart choices about which enemy to go for next and in what way, and not because the game was easy.
I liked making the infected attack my human enemies, but was expecting that kind of mixed encounters to be more frequent.
I’m a bit ambivalent about the open world section. It really stands out as a great place to explore, but I kind of forgot about it quickly after it was over and it feels a little strange to have that “bubble” in an otherwise linear game. Although I can see how it is important to have a little bit of light, almost frothy, adventuring before descending into hell.

I do understand that not everyone wants to have “politics” polluting their gaming experience, and I think that’s a fair point. If I, as a left wing, atheistic swede, played a game that forced me to burn down an abortion clinic, I would question its motives and why the creator felt the need to put that in there. I might even feel a great deal of animosity toward the people involved in making the game. That said, I loved the diversity in this game and how it was just presented as a matter of fact. Prejudices exist in this world, but the story isn’t about them, and in many ways the world has just moved on from them.
Abby’s physique made me think that she was trans, I’ll admit. That misconception was reinforced many times for instance by dialogue, and I’ll even admit that I thought the position she and Owen chose when they had sex was a hint... That’s me being prejudiced and I’ll own up to it and be grateful that this game showed me that I have those prejudices.

To summarize my feelings about this game I would say that it’s on the cusp of being great art, but absolutely one of the greatest games I’ve played.
Thanks for reading this far and may your survival be long!

I loved this game from start to finish. Each "chapter" was a step-up from the one before it. Almost everyone agrees the gameplay and graphics are outstanding. However, for me, the story is the best thing about this game. It is moving. It is different. It is not the good-guy-kills-the-bad-guy cliché. You see the story from the perspective of the person you think is the bad guy. It makes you think about the consequences of the actions you did in the first game as the "hero" of that story. It makes you think a lot. Both Ellie and Abby lose a lot as a result of this cycle of violence, which Ellie decides to break at the end. It's a story of love, hate, revenge, and forgiveness. When Ellie was drowning Abby at the end, I was saying to myself please Ellie, don't kill her. I was glad she didn't. I might've shed a tear or two. It was the perfect ending to a transformative and moving story.

The first day of playing TLOUP2 ruined my mood and day and only anger and revenge motivated me to move on. Don't know from what to start: the way they killed our favorite character is horrible and disrespecting, the second part of the game playing for the character that I hate and the end of the game with playing against Ellie! Whaaaaat? If you wanted to tell another story of pain and sorrow on behalf of Abby, let's thing of all people (soldiers) that was killed during the game! Does it mean that all its families will come and get revenge? Why you killed Joel in such a way? We would hate Abby even if she JUST killed Joel. Many incredibly beautiful locations were given to Abby but I didn't even enjoy it as I wanted to finish this part as soon as possible. After the end of the game I don't feel any connection with Abby, at all...I feel only empty and frustration Expand

To begin, I will explain the reason for my grade of 3/10, without first explaining some things. The last game of the trilogy was very unexpected for the public, coming from a company like Naughty Dog, which since its inception has been making games with more childish tones (some less than others). At the time the first trailer was released, people were not sure what this title was going to be, which, after being released, moved everyone with a very good story, graphics, gameplay, etc. The new title would not have the same fate, it is more, it would carry the weight of marveling us all and exceeding our expectations, which clearly did not succeed, and it was not solely the fault of the company, since we have cases like Duke Nukem Forever that after 14 years of development, he did not meet the expectations at all, and people are partly to blame, for overestimating something that may not be what was expected.
The game itself, is not that it has a bad story, it developed quite badly, but the concept is not bad, they were wrong to focus so much on Ashley, and everything that had to go through her life, when she killed the character more beloved of the saga, that is why he did not achieve his mission of making the player empathize with it. As much as you tell me about your misfortunes and miseries, the player comes with hatred since he killed Joel, and that he does not forgive him, and less knowing that the main plot of the game is to take revenge on all the accomplices and the murderer. At this point, the game wants you to empathize with the 2 characters, and wants you to think that they are all good people, which is why they have lived previously.
PS: The game focuses too much on Ellie's decisions, as if everything revolved around her, sometimes downplaying the plot.

Anyway, the graphics are pretty good, but there are still a lot of bugs, downgrades, artificial intelligence glitches, very ridiculous things, typical of Hollywood movies.
A title that is not worth its $ 60 at all and makes me think that after each generation, it gets more involved, prioritizing money over quality.
    Bye.

The graphics weren't really good, but the story is an amazing **** I play it for the second time to be able to judge everything from a different perspective and it is so difficult to play the game again. You have to kill nice people who ran into each other during the first game and it hurts .....

I hope The Last os Us II will become an example and that accessibility options will become increasingly common in the gaming industry.

Its soundtrack is as good as that of the first game, and remains an essential element to put the player in the right atmosphere.

Incredible graphics, and speaking of graphics, I want to emphasize the facial expressions of the characters, some scenes are very beautiful exactly because we clearly see the feelings of the characters through their expressions and looks, not to mention that this adds a lot to the text of the game, since expressions often say much more than words, which ends up enriching the script.

The gameplay does not innovate much, and this is not a defect, the second game focuses its efforts on improving the gameplay of the first, which is a little out of date these days, and among all the news, the dodge is certainly one of those that more adds to the quality of the gameplay, making it more dynamic, but yes, there are other welcome innovations, such as being able to crouch and swing on ropes, these additions add a vertical factor in the exploration of the scenarios, expanding the player's exploration options. And talking about exploration, I want to highlight the level design that follows the same high quality as the first, the more open scenarios and with this vertical factor make exploration much more engaging and gives a greater sense of freedom, in addition to that, however open it is be the scenario it is not difficult to find the right path.

The art direction of the game is excellent, the open scenarios bring a mix of destruction and nature in a very convincing and beautiful way, while the more closed and dark scenarios bring us insecurity and melancholy, each scenario has its history, and seeing those sites destroyed, we can feel the lives destroyed after the day of the outbreak.

It is a strong story that touches feelings that are very deep and difficult to deal with. Its history is dense and makes you finish the thrilling game exhausted. The game manipulates very well what the player "should" feel and if the player gives himself up to the proposal of the game, he will certainly draw valuable lessons. It's such a good story, if not better than the first game, but, unlike the first, this story makes you anguished and sad.

The main defect is the development of the characters. The game has many new characters and the game manages to develop several of them well, but some end up not having the necessary development, and ends up leaving a sense of wasted potential. Despite this, the game remains excellent.

Last of Us Part II is definitely a Masterpiece as it pushes the boundary of game animations & world design. The gameplay is similar to the first game but improved, so if you liked the gameplay of the first game then you will like the gameplay. Another huge improvement is in the world design, even though a linear game it never feels like it as you can take different routes to reach your destination. You can follow an optional path & find extra goodies as a prize for your exploration. This game rewards greatly for anyone who takes the time to explore the world and the world created by Naught Dog is absolutely outstanding. Most times I would just stand & stare at the details & beauty of this world. The only negative I have is with the story, I understand what they were trying to do but unfortunately the execution was badly delivered. Also the pacing could have been better. I have put into over 40+ hours into this game with finally getting the Platinum trophy. If you can go with an open mind & see for how everything else in this game is absolutely stunning then you should definitely get this game as a PS4 owner. I really enjoyed my play through with this game, it was something very different & made me think more than what a game should make me!

Review-bombing something so harshly is pointless because it discredits the validity of your hate. Even if you hated the story; the gameplay, level design, sound design, pacing, combat and more, were all absolutely supreme to all other games of our generation. I frequently found myself doubling up on animations when running from the genuinely terrifying enemies, but the game didn't glitch out. It never interrupted animations that were triggered overlapping. If you pull out the shotgun, you have to physically pull it off of your back. This added to the visceral realism of the world they created; A truly challenging survival horror. This game will be forever one of the greats. And hopefully after this trendy hate train dies down in a few years, this game will resurface with the love it deserves. Congrats Naughty Dog on not bending over for the ravenous vultures that embody fan culture, and for not giving us a fan-pleasing, unoriginal piece of garbage. Already on my second play through and it's about to be the first game I've ever Platinum'd. Expand

However, the Storytelling, in my opinion, is great aswell. Even though I wouldnt agree with the decisions some Characters made throughout the Storyline, but thats how life is. People are different and when you are in a Situation like Ellie, where you lost nearly everything, the outcome is pretty realistic. She finally understood that revenge isnt the way to go and accepted her faith --> Ending up alone

Greetings and Salutations everyone! It's everyone's favorite doctor who can write prescriptions and plays what the kids call video games and today i'm going to review one of the best games I ever had a chance to get my grubby mitts on-The Last of Us 2!

First off, I would not rate this game a 10, id probably give it a 9.6-9.7 so very close but not quite there. Anywho, I want to say this game starts off hot with a straight emotional gut punch that I definitely didn't expect. It gave me a dejected feeling like some of my all-time favorite TV shows and movies do. Was it something that I wanted to happen? Absolutely not, but by doing so I knew I was in for a hot-blooded, distinguished experience that has never struck such an emotional response during my 30 years of playing video games.

The other thing that made TLOU2 such a transcendent experience was its set pieces and whoa nelly where these amazing! While Telltale's season 1 of Walking Dead may rival TLOU2 in pulling on your heart strings, the set pieces in this game has no such rival....and its not even close. There were times while playing where my kisser fell to my gullet and I just pondered to myself, "Gollie, I will never forget that, that was awesome as PETE!" If there is perfection in a game, these set pieces were it, especially for us survival horror fans. Now I played my whole first playthrough on survivor so my experience may have been a bit different than other humans but there were moments where I would be running for my life, barely surviving and getting through by the skin of my taint with a pinch of luck thrown in there. What's is even more impressive is there are 6-7 of these experience. Most games can't produce one experience half as heart pounding in a trilogy of games so the fact that TLOU2 was able to do it and keep doing it throughout the game is mind-bogging and sensational.

Finally the last thing that made this game stand out above all other games was the fact that it could keep all the combat encounters unique. So many games eventually start to feel the same, after 5- 10-15 hours, even the really great ones, but TLOU2 always changed up elements to make the fights feel uncommon, I do wish they would have had more human vs human vs monster experiences. The few they had in the game were incredible because you never felt like you were safe plus you could turn monster(yes I know "monsters" have a real name that starts with a C but i'm to lazy to look it up) on your human enemies which was wildly satisfying!

TLOU2 also is a beautiful game, it's well written and acted and extremely detailed. Its also a very polished game on day 1 in 2020 considering the size of the game, I think I only had 1 glitch where I got stuck under a deck of a building. Also its load times are a 10/10, very little wait times between deaths on PsPro-take notes Star Wars Fallen Order. The story isn't quite as good as the first game and the ending wasn't very satisfying but overall this is one of the greatest games I ever played in my life! I love it!

Also I'd like to point out, this game seemed to receive over 150k zeros within the first 24 hours of the game being released and IMO those people rushed through the game and did not take in the gameplay or story and reflect on it so they could give it a subjective score. That is what had to happen because the only other thing that could have happened is all these people never even played the game and just gave it a 0 out of spite, fanboyism or bigotry and homophobia but i'm sure that is not the case because that would just be petty and insecure so I probably should not have even brought that up I apologize for even suggesting it. Bad Dr Lee!

Anywho, i'd suggest buying this game in a hot second, its not perfect but its like no game I ever played, fun as the dickens and way ahead of its time, or simply put...an all time classic!

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
