    What a ride.
    One of the best games i have ever played.
    I hated it at first, for the scenaristic turns the game makes you do, but it is an incredible and amazing experience that had let me go throught a lot of emotions. I stared at the screen for 10 minutes when i beat the game, and thought about it for a lot of weeks after that. I immediatly wanted to do a recond run, but it is so    What a ride.

    Honestly the best game I've ever played. A brutal post apo survival horror with a story line that makes you think - taking it's own turn away from the standard black/white morality in video games. Smooth and long gameplay. This game redefined storytelling, and did it with inclusive characters, it's possible! Keep an open mind and play it, you will be rewarded.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really appreciate that Naughty Dog did not just go the safe way and make a game that will please all the fans. I understand that this alienated many but the result is a piece of software that will stay very unique for a long time. Even if I was shocked by many of the events in the story and did not like all of them, I have to give a lot of credits to the developer for making me feel that way. It's a game that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end credits roll.

    Gameplay and audiovisual design is of course stellar. The game feels very polished and offers a fair amount of challenge.

    I understand that not everyone is happy with how the game ended but at the same time, I think is unfair to rate it so low just because you did not like it.    … Expand

    this is probably the most depressing, but at the same time the most beautiful game i've ever played. in the end there's only one thing left to say: this is a masterpiece, thank you naughty dog for letting me be part of it

    Being a story driven game, TLOU2 is one of the biggest disappointments of the current console generation. It's not that I don't agree with certain story decision. They just executed it poorly. NONE of the characters live up to the quality of the first game. The plot is manipulative, way too overcrowded with subplots and unnecessary love triangles. While exploring the game world and discovering all the tiny secrets is fun, I hated to see how the story unfolded.

    Some details to explain why I really didn't like the story:

    Abby: I get what they were going for. And I'm not mad because she kills Joel. But making me hate her for 15 hours and then make me play this character did not help. Maybe they should have made her playable earlier into the story so I can understand everything BEFORE things happen. Playing her that late into the game didn't make me care about her. I hated this character and after finishing the game I still do. Furthermore, this does not change the fact that Abby is a straight up psychopath! Torturing a guy to death that just saved your life, sleeping with your friends boyfriend, wanting to kill a pregnant woman (knowingly) and giving a **** about all her friends. But hey, she pets some dogs...

    Joel: We don't trust strangers....

    Elie: She knew Joel lied to her at the end of the first game, didn't she? Now she's mad? Oh and remember the lighthearted, optimistic and caring girl? She's gone! Still better than Abby as she shows immediate reactions to killing innocent people AFTER beging attacked.

    Jesse: Only likeable character gets shot for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

    Tommy: Survives a headshot.

    And what's wrong with pregnant women in this world?

    And so on...

    TLOU2 is a technical masterpiece and a fun game to play. But to experience the "story" is frustrating and angering. What were they thinking?    … Expand

    The guys at Naughty Dog have gigantic balls! The story is tough to swallow and in big parts very depressing. And that is good. This is not just a game, it is an experience. The game takes a deep dive in what humans are, what we are capable off and how our flaws can misguide us, no matter how good a person you are. Game wise also excellent. This game shows what games could be and should be, if they want to be challenging. Play it, you will love it. If not, play it again and again. At least you will learn from it, to grow as a human.     Nothing new in the gameplay. The story wants to be surprising but in the bad way. I like the inclusion of certain collectives. Good graphics but the trailers looks better than the game. I think I'm not buying a game from Naughty Sony again...

    I wasn't expecting to see consequences for my actions in the first installment, and I'm positively surprised with the outcome. This game challenges the standard persona you take on when playing games where you have to kill others. Characters (both friends and foes) felt flawed and like they were all dealing with their own issues and hopes as well. It feels more inclusive as well, without feeling performative. In the interactions I saw bits of myself or people I know reflected, which was nice.

    I very much enjoyed the gameplay as well. It kept the things I liked from Part 1 and added some new quality of life improvements.

    Another strength are the plethora of accessibility options. While I don't need any specific accommodations with regards to my gameplay I still found some functions there useful to use. (Stuff like automatically picking up items, for example). This helped improve my fun in playing.

    I would absolutely recommend this game if you're someone who likes a nuanced narrative where your ideas may get challenged. If you prefer a game where you don't want to think about morality and want to shoot at stuff this may not be the game for you, and that's fine too.    … Expand

    Really great game. Most male gamers have fragile egos and think all women in games are created to satisfy their sexual fantasies, since they can't get any IRL. So, when they see one that doesn't, they rage.

    I'm not a reviewer so I'm gonna keep this short and simple. This game was a huge disappointment to me. Character decisions that don't makes any sense, a 10 - hour gameplay with a character that the devs tried oh SO HARD to make me like by manipulating the player himself, whether it comes to choices I had no say in whatsoever, the overall atmosphere and feel of the gameplay (Abby's world isI'm not a reviewer so I'm gonna keep this short and simple. This game was a huge disappointment to me. Character decisions that don't makes any sense, a 10 - hour gameplay with a character that the devs tried oh SO HARD to make me like by manipulating the player himself, whether it comes to choices I had no say in whatsoever, the overall atmosphere and feel of the gameplay (Abby's world is a lot brighter, interesting and colorful - while Ellie's first portion of the game is darker, hollow and depressing - not to mention a lot more linear and brutal).     In the beginning, I did not like where the story was headed but eventually, I started to like the story. The graphics are amazing and the gameplay was not bad. This game, in my opinion, is not for everybody and is only for players who are willing to spend long hours every day in order to finish it. Overall, one of the best games on the PS4.

There is only the stupidity of two protagonists fighting each other in a bloody moral degradation. Understand: There is no use for technical excellence in an empty background. A game that leaves nothing at the end besides a bitter taste in the mouth and nothing to renew hope. They lost the chance to do something historic in order to be realistic.     The Last of Us parte 2 tiene todo lo que le faltaba en el 1, detalles únicos y una historia que se va desarrollando cada vez más hasta dejarte sin palabras. Cuando pensás que ya no hay nada que contar, te sorprende de diferentes formas y es todo una incógnita con un final INCREÍBLE. En mi opinión, una obra de arte este juego, que gusto fue jugarlo.

But the game definitely has downsides such as joel's death timing and the amount of time we play as abby. I think it was a bit dragged and felt like the game directors cared more about abby as her guns were way better than ellie's . But the one thing i hated was the fight in the cinema. I hated playing as abby and beating the **** outta Ellie. But he game has so many good sides and those made tha game enjoyable to me. The gameplay , the graphics and the flashbacks of ellie and joel was so good. All in all, i liked it but it definitely could have been better.… Expand

    Had to make an account, because I’ve never seen as many p******s complain about a game in my life. Honestly feel like the majority of those that have left a bad review do it just to **** on the game for no reason. It was a great game. Evokes emotion. Graphics were **** fantastic. Ambience and tone made me not want to enter rooms at times. Yeah, it’s ****ty the way things started, but oh well.

    Most of the 0/10 reviews are from people who likely dont own the game and are upset because it is "political" even though politics play no role (merely having a gay character does not make a game political). The story is a seemless transition (although also a stark contrast) from the first game, and will undoubtedly be touted as a defining game in this generation.

Y para mí que lo le no le gustó a la gente es la muerte de Joel y si bien no me esperaba que él muriera, pero cómo sabemos...     I read the spoilers online before this game's release and was extremely worried that ND had destroyed the franchise. After finishing the game, I realized that the execution of everything was downright perfect and that reading angry people's reports of what they thought of the story isn't a reliable way of getting in contact with the game. Joel have survive this long in part 1 to know not to trust anyone but the devs have to take side with LGBT and the down syndrome side of the world to try to make their game "special" guess what you're all failures and the game does not deserve to even exist. What did you think would happen by making Joel die by the hand of SJW? But for those willing to go deeper there is a beautiful commentary on all of these subjects. The games graphics are stunning, the game play is solid. Its a masterpiece for those looking for more then a happy ending.… Expand

The new characters are dull and boring. There is no character development. The story is something a 3rd grader could write. There is an effort to throw in every type of person and it feels forced. Joel's death is so rushed and it's all shock value. They character assassinate ellie to make you like Abby more as well. Awful. Awful awful. The game looks beautiful though… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I personally enjoyed seeing/playing Abby’s story because it made me realize how surprisingly similar her and Ellie are. It makes me somewhat understand why she killed Joel.(although it’s still rather upsetting that they killed him within 2 hours of gameplay, we haven’t seen this guy in 5 years and he’s dead within the 2nd hour?!). I can see where Naughty dog was trying to go with this and i do think they touched on some important topics in the game as well. I personally enjoyed their sort of nod to the lgbtq+ community with Lev’s storyline. I think it truly showed how some trans people are easily outcasted and shunned from their homes/communities due to things like that. I will say the ending did leave me feeling almost dissatisfied in a way. But in the same breath i think the cycle of revenge and hatred does that to any set of characters, it’s not supposed to be wrapped up in a bow at the end. I think the story telling could have obviously improved in areas but overall i think the storyline makes sense and i can understand why they make Abby such a vital character in the 2nd part.… Expand

    The game just free kill Joel, THE character of the game for a bad revenge. Imagine have a daughter and someone tries to kill her, you just kill this someone who has a daughter too and that daughter somehow discovery the location about your brother in the middle of an apocalypse 4 years later and kills you for just save your **** daughter. The game begins with this, and keep the entire story over this, that for me, isn't a good reason, come on, Joel just killed her father because him tried to kill Ellie. Btw, there’s strange moments in the end of the game, well, how the **** Tommy is alive? Man, you have a pregnant woman that was spanked and another one woman who was spanked too and has a broken arm to take a man who got a **** shot in the head to cross kilometers in a way with elevations and holes and probably enemies, how the **** they did that? Btw again, Tommy seems that just got alive to give a trash reason to keep the game on, "I know the Abby's location, come there and kill her!     Another point is, the gameplay is so repetitive, we do the same things in entire game, explore, kill some infected that aren't so much mechanics to do that, is almost the same thing ever, and the humans that doesn't make any **** difference between then.
    The soundtrack is good, but nothing memorable. The SFX are perfect, is so good with everything, I guess. When you are upgrading your guns, you can see how good the SFX is in this game.
    The Animation is another good point, without the bugs, the face reactions are really realistic, the grass and the looting animation too.

    Graphics are great but the story is a complete joke, it feels soo forced, if you're a fan of the original avoid this game at all costs, you will be pissed off and not wanting to finish it.     This game is immensely bleak, with the bright hopeful spots of the first entry being altogether absent. With that being said, just about 10 hours of the game are wasted on fruitless plots, and the entire story (potentially of both games) is rendered meaningless by the dumbfonded ending. I could say more, but this game is a huge disappointment, and I regret waiting 7 years for it.

    I generally dont leave reviews, but had to for this one. The graphics are the best of any game so far. The gameplay is superb, improving on the first game. It's full of twists and turns, you just need to let it guide you. In the end the story makes sense and there are no cliffhangers. Most importantly, this is a fun game.

I would have expected this from a teenage video game writing course and been pleasantly surprised at the themes they "tried" to deal with. From a big budget studio.... whoa. I honestly can't believe that shareholders can look at this "product" and think "Oh, that's a good investiture of my money. Lets do it again!"

    One of the best games in history. If you do not like to think and you want them to give you everything chewed, you better stay away from this game, it is not for you. If you want a raw and brutal experience with no presets that doesn't treat the player like a 5 year old, this is your game.

Plus this is one of the most beautiful games I’ve played. However I feel the story falls just slightly short, I enjoyed everything in the ellie side of things except for when she didn’t kill abby. I feel the idea of her losing herself on this quest would have prompted a really good direction for a third game. However where it feel short for me was how they tried to showcase how EVERYONE isn’t how we perceive them, for example Joel wasn’t the good guy in the first game for saving ellie from abbys point of view. Ellie isn’t the good guy because She kills countless people, abby isn’t just the bad guy because she grows and bonds with the scars. And protects lev. The wolves are the bad guys because they’re just people too, the scars are just people regardless of how brutally they kills the wolves. It felt very heavy handed towards the end for me personally. I personally like the idea of showing the dynamic of ellie isn’t just the hero. And abby isn’t purely evil for evils sake. However I think if we really showcased that dynamic will just ellie and abby it could have hit home more, then ellie, abby, Tommy, lev, all the scars, The wolves etc. I also personally felt that the abby stuff dragged on, once the confrontation between her and ellie happened mid way through, I wanted to get back to see what happened there. I think if maybe reshuffling the way the story was told for example Day 1 show Ellie’s side then abby’s and continue that, that way it’s only a chapter in between that confrontation. And I feel like a lot of that drag would be gone with that set up. All in all it is still a solid game and worth the play.… Expand

Laying in grass, and avoiding dogs are wonderful additions and allows for multiple styles of gameplay. The weapons bring some of the old ones back while adding a suppressed weapon and the crossbow. Story: the story while it can be hard to stomach some of the choices, it’s easier to understand as you go and while it breaks your heart early, I feel like that semi realistic game we had in the first is brought back in TLOU2 and I’m blessed to have played this game. I keep thinking that a change could’ve been made, but at the end of the day. I think they made the best story possible. I think if they had separated who you played into smaller sections leading up to the end. It would’ve been more to stomach. Plus throwing Joel’s death in so early on was a mistake. I feel like it should’ve been somewhere near the end when Ellie tells Joel that she wants to forgive him. I don’t write games or have any idea how to make a script. This game is great.     The SJW- section of this game is not only minimal, but fairly well done, and for the most part fades into the background unless you're looking for something to be mad at.
    SPOILERS BELOW
    It is absolutely essential to finish the game to maximize you're enjoyment, but man. It's gonna get hard to finish. This game is AT LEAST 5 hours too long, the first game works because it tells a simple story, with heavy character buy in, you understand their motives, and that even the unacceptable things you do are essential in some way to the task at hand. For this game, the task at hand is far less motivating. STILL. I LOVE all the side characters, I love Lev, I love Dina, I love Jesse, and i love Tommy, on that front the performances, and animations are great.
    THE GAMEPLAY
    IS HUGELY IMPROVED FROM TLOU 1, it is much more fluid, much more of a game, much more fun, and playful, and will be MORE RE-PLAYABLE. AND THIS COMES AT THE DIRECT EXPENSE OF THE STORY..
    This said, there are 2 mechanics that severely hamper the gameplay, and are not super welcome. You can figure out how to deal with them, but the more time you are willing to spend on each "stage" the better your experience will be, and depending on how you play games, your mileage will vary.
    Shamblers are AWESOME! Very welcome
    New NPC skins, and new sneaky kill- plus dismemberment mechanics are BEAUTIFUL
    BACK TO THE STORY
    It is dark, and depressing for MOST of the game. It is hard, you never feel like you're playing as a good guy. You never feel like you're doing the right thing. If you stop at the wrong time on your first day of playing it MIGHT spoil your WHOLE GAMEPLAY, which shouldn't be able to happen, but in this game it really might. It tells you for 25+ hours that the story is about 1 thing, drawing parallels between the characters of the past game, and drawing new boundaries about what can constitute a protagonist with them still being a "good guy". This all culminates in a terribly misjudged portion of the game which I purposefully failed multiple times where one character hunts another character who you like much much better. And this is PURELY because she's not so charismatic. It would be like if you saw Black Widow in the Avengers killing children, and then they showed you Captain Marvel breaking her arms and you were supposed to root for her. AND THEN in the final 3 hours of the game, it pulls a switcheroo on you and tells you that what it was telling you about was all wrong, it shows you that it was about what it means to lose love, the pain, permanence, and persistence of losing someone you love, that there's no way to return that person to you. You will never be whole again, and it leaves some beautiful homages to the original game which WORK, but you MUST get to the end to get that, through a story that is TOO LONG. It makes sense by the end, but it takes too long to get there. Please just be patient, and it's beautiful. The timing is wrong and part of that is because you can tell the writer was unsure whether he could write this while assuming people played the first game (which is misplaced humility), but by the end it rewrites itself and gives you something worthwhile.
    I will also say, after I finished it, I was totally ready to be done with it and immediately lent it to a friend. But then I haven't been able to go a day without thinking about it, it is stuck in my head, and the way they weave the picture IS masterful. It's not perfect, but it is almost still a masterpiece. It's not as good as the first game, because there's a lot of innocence and youth in the first game. This one is much darker, but it gives you some light in the dark at the end, so please just finish the game, and please be open minded about this story. It is excellent, not perfect, but it is beautiful and excellent. Please play it, please finish it, please think about it    … Expand

It’s harder to put on these character’s shoes cause they live in a complex world, they have gone through the worst and the decisions they make are HUMAN. People change.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
