    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is truly an amazing game with an enjoyable experience to match, it achieved the exact objective it was aiming for. It has stellar graphics and gameplay. Although I still feel it was an unnecessary sequel, it was far better to have left the story with the first game & allow the players to ponder on whether Ellie knew or not that Joel lied to her or not to protect her. It was clear to see that she could tell he wasn’t being truthful. The ambiguity was way more impactful than a twisted tail of revenge on the quest for shock value. Boundaries were pushed a bit too much and it fell off the edge in parts. I truly find it hard to believe that Ellie would be that angry towards Joel for saving her life. Her anger towards him made no sense. It was really hard for me to buy into. The story also went on for a bit too long, it felt like if they spot at a certain point it would have made for a better game. I honestly struggle to be sympathetic towards Abby, I was basically on autopilot when I played as her. Part 2 opted for technical brilliance and sacrificed great storytelling. A game leaving the player far worse of than you were going into it isn’t a good mark.

    The pinnacle of story telling. I’ve never had a game hit so hard emotionally and really made me put my controller down and think about what happened. It took me a full week before I could really process how I felt about the game. To keep it short this game is one of the greatest feats of storytelling and immersion in a game and it will stand as one of the best stories of all time.

    This is one of the best games ever for its game play with fun mechanics and fast paced fighting and stealth. The story had great potential but ultimately fell face first onto the floor. The story was well thought out but had huge pacing issues and seemed out of order in terms of storyline. The main idea revenge hurts everyone could have been shown way better if it didn't feel like thats all the game is trying to say. I dont have a problem with the game being different from the first but in some ways it made itself look like it started to run of out ideas to make you feel sad about character deaths. (Spoiler for first half of the last of us part 1 skip the next paragraph to the next) In the first game tess had died and even though she was in the game for a short amoujt of time her death was still very sad because of the good pacing. There was no flashbacks to stop you from bonding with Tess or unnecessary information thrown at the player. The gameplay and ui brings some needed upgrades and changes. The stealth is more fun and has improved a lot in different ways like the addition of silencers and the addition of going prone in grass. The fighting has gotten better with the addition of more weapons, upgrades in the skill tree that make hand to hand combat more exciting and the addition of dodging. The weapon combat is more exciting and fast with a much bigger and special arsenal with new weapons and more ways to approach situations you get into. This is a fantastic game with great gameplay but is brought down by its questionable story placement. I have no problem with the character deaths just the way that some characters aren't able to shine and be likeable due to being what seems like a after thought in the game. The game has a lot of replay ability and will never leave you bored. I rate it a 8 out of 10, it would be a 9 but the story is a huge part of the game and sadly isn't able to make you like characters.… Expand

    Si, es buen juego, me disculpo con esta joya por tirarle demasiado hate, la historia es buena pero el orden y la manera en que los acontecimientos están contados considero que son malos, no le entendimos a esta maravilla, tampoco fui muy fan del final pero creo que eso ya es subjetivo, eso y lo que dije anteriormente es lo único malo que ahora considero que este PUTO JUEGAZO tiene.

Si, me hubiera gustado utilizar a Joel, pero, Ellie a pesar de todo no estuvo mal. Aunque si, realmente fue una niña malcriada y malagradecida. Pero es un juego que entretiene y divierte.     This is the worst Sony game for the entire existence of the Playstation brand, with the second part of TLOU in terms of trash, only GOW 2018 and the Ragnarok DLC can compete, it’s a pity that the once great Sony stooped to such rubbish.

    No entiendo porque tiene malas críticas, recientemente lo jugué y wow, unas excelentes mecánicas de juego, los enemigos son muy buenos y la historia no deja que desear, lo único que reprochó y siento innecesario es la escena de Abby con Owen me dió cosa ver eso, otra cosa que considero es que, como es posible que después de dos años de su salida no lo hayan podido parchar bien, hayNo entiendo porque tiene malas críticas, recientemente lo jugué y wow, unas excelentes mecánicas de juego, los enemigos son muy buenos y la historia no deja que desear, lo único que reprochó y siento innecesario es la escena de Abby con Owen me dió cosa ver eso, otra cosa que considero es que, como es posible que después de dos años de su salida no lo hayan podido parchar bien, hay inmensidad de Bugs que considero yo que no deberían estar ahí ya que tiene ya un par de años de estrenarse pero en fin los escenarios, narrativa y enemigos es una exquisitez, carta de amor a los videojuegos, en resumen un juegazo que recomendaría a cualquiera.… Expand

    the story is good. yes it is good. is it enjoyable ? not all of it
    the story is nowhere near as good as TLOU1
    combat is better but the plot is so weird man
    the whole time playing as abby i actually didnt mind but when she got back to hunt Ellie down i really hated it and i dont get why we have to fight Ellie. speaking of Ellie i loved seeing her descend into madness trying to take revenge for Joel but i loved that she ends up forgiving Abby and lettiing her inner demons go. THAT IS A GOOD STORY FOR WHAT WE ARE GIVEN. the level design is overwhelming and really weird sometimes which is why i do not want to replay it cos i just dont want to play with a headache most of the time again. CAN i just say that is is so boring to force myself to play through meeting Abbys friends and all already knowing they are dead..... pointless Abby narrative, and i almost forgot abt the Seraphites cos they DONT MATTER AT ALL! with that said i can understand what the story is going for and i can somewhat appreciate it just not all that much..... abit sad    … Expand

The gameplay is not innovative by any means either. The game is far from being a masterpiece, that's a fact, not an opinion: Part 2 cannot even dream about achieving the greatness of Part 1.

    So, don't be fooled by the name of the franchise: Part 1 was great thanks to former golden-era game director Bruce Straley; sheer genius not only on this franchise but all across the board of ND's most emblematic games as well.

    Sadly, he's now long gone from ND, a departure that has exposed the fraud behind the game direction of Part 2 big time.

    Add to the recipe the mayor lead talent who quit ND too due to unacceptable working conditions, and the consequences are easily predictable: ND's golden years are over, it has become a sinking ship of a studio.

    It was until recently after finish another playing-through of the first game, I decided to finally give Part 2 a try, my opinion has completely changed after I'm done, and I feel sorry to have easily bought into the hate narrative without actually experiencing it.

    On paper, without context, the plot of this game can be "hate-able", the keyword here is "without context". Putting everything into the game's context and execution, it actually make sense. The characters are very well-written, they are human, they don't make optimal decisions, they are influenced by their human emotions. It is not an easy game to play, emotionally speaking. But it is an artistic piece to experience, you can tell that the team put lots of heart into crafting this game, it made me reflect, and think about the theme this game explored. That's what a good piece of artwork should do, to chanllenge and provoke.

    There are definitely moments where some characters' action feels off and out-of-character, those areas could be executed better, hence it's not a 10/10 for me. But the overall quality of this game is great.

    I recommend this game to people who are interested, whether you like it or hate it, it's a worth-experiencing game, the kind that we probably won't get many in the upcoming future, judging by how un-ready the audiences are at accepting something different.    … Expand

This game is not only an amazing continuation to LoU Part 1, but it's an achievement that takes the torch from Part 1 and continues to bring adult narratives and themes and REAL FEELINGS into the gaming industry. If you don't read any farther, this game is ART and will make you FEEL THINGS and it's amazing to feel EVERYTHING they put into it - you're supposed to be conflicted...you're SUPPOSED to be affected. Let it happen. This is a trend I'm seeing more and more in mature-rated games and a trend I'm here for. 10/10 HAVE, and WILL, play again and again. For more specific thoughts, read on.

    The gameplay feels comfortable and familiar, but the tweaks they made to ramp up the AI and how you can now fight them were ABSOLUTELY NEEDED! The dodge mechanic alone saved my life more than anything, but the combat differences between characters were such a good touch. Not only are you playing different people, it FEELS like you're playing different people. I tend to play these games the same way because I'm a chicken and get scared easily, but I found myself getting spotted with Ellie and panicking whereas getting spotted as Abby felt like, "fine, you want some?", and that's unique for me. Sneak and stab is my go-to.

    While I know that the narrative is the most controversial part of this game, for me, it was the BEST part of the game. We all fell in love with the characters from Part 1, and to see how their stories progressed and the pain they found after thinking they'd achieved happiness...I was, again, there for it. It's HARD to walk in the shoes of someone that's hurt you...but if you can't find any empathy after the amazing story you participate in...that's a bummer. And maybe a teaching point you should consider learning from.

    If you want to just mash buttons and kill zombies and not have to think too hard or feel feelings (believe me, sometimes this is what I crave), this might not be the game for you. But if you want to conquer feelings of loss and pain and achieve forgiveness and understanding...this is a masterclass I encourage you to take.    … Expand

    The game is beautiful graphically, has fun mechanics, good gameplay, but the main thing about this franchise is its history, and here, they managed to undo everything good that was in the first game, here it became a big bag of propaganda for certain groups.

    The characters in this game make decisions that people didn't like. And that's what I like about it. It's a fantastic game that explores the complex emotions of humans who grow and change. I think the execution of the story was fantastic this game made me feel things from start to finish. Not to mention just how much content, artistry, and amazing writing this game has.

    Coge todo lo que tiene el primero y lo lleva más allá. Naughty Dog merece una estatua por lo que hizo con este juego. Seguramente, la historia más madura que jamás se ha visto en la indústria.

    The game is a disaster when they impose the gender agenda, LGBTQ, I already cross it, do not buy it, I do not recommend it, a crap game, they ruined the story as they are going to kill Joel, I am left only with the first part.

La pérdida de esta parte importante de su vida se puede escuchar a través de los punteos rotos de las cuerdas de la guitarra que suenan tan trágicos después de escuchar ese hermoso ritmo durante todo el juego. Es un mensaje tan trágico y hermoso de aceptar la pérdida y encontrar el perdón interior. Es una pena que la gente no entienda el final y simplemente lo limite a "la venganza es mala". Es mucho más que venganza y odio. Se trata de amor y perdón. Personalmente, creo que Joel estaría orgulloso de que Ellie se encontrara a sí misma a través del perdón en lugar de continuar con la venganza.     I have played through Part 1 and Part 2 multiple times. They are both excellent. Frame rate is buttery smooth on PS5 at 60fps. The game is kinda dark and heavy though with no lightening of the mood at any point. It's not for everyone.

This portrays her insanity in a beautiful yet brutal way. This will leave you speechless, with tears running down your face. The controls and game-play are comfortable to move around in, and smooth, even on 9 year old hardware. The characters are what get you, though. As you progress through the game you meet all sorts of characters, the storytelling of these people evoke many emotions, as they're all dealing with their own internal problems, some of which could relate to anyone. The Last of Us Part II is a masterpiece, and Naughty Dog has brought us one for the history books.… Expand

The game is no fun it is misery. If you love to get tormented then this game is for you, but if you want a fun game, don't play this game.

    Never trust critic reviews when it comes to Sony games. They are mostly overrated borefests, and this game is no exception. Druckmann really does think he's the next Kubrick, except he can't write for **** and will bore your pants off with unskippable cutscenes that go on forever. If you've played one Sony exclusive, you've played them all. Boring, pretentious drivel the lot of them.

Also nobody wanted that awful sex scene in such an awful story.     One of the most detailed and immersive games I've played. Combat is smooth and brutal, characters are realistic. I take only 1 point away for the story, i personally didn't like the pacing and certain descions for character, but the story is still thought out, realistic and emotional. Highly recommend.

    The last of us part II it's a true game sequel. You can see all the enhancements If you compare with it predecessor. The story is realy dark and gore, the gameplay mecanics are simply almost perfect. Mix all this with the amazing graphics and soundtrack and you Will have a masterpieace.

    Played it the first time, didn't think it was awful like how the internet described it to be. Played it a second time to platinum it, I noticed flaws that bothered me. The setup for Joel's death was really pathetic; Joel would've never saved Abby and Tommy wouldn't have told strangers who they were if you've played the first game. Way out of character for them. Dina was a really interesting character. Sadly she was pushed aside midway in Ellie's story; her reason for it was an obvious setup for what was to come if you paid attention to Abby and her friend's backgrounds.
    Now, let's get to Abby. I DID NOT hate her. Although her reason for killing Joel was understandable, her father being the doctor that almost killed Ellie was an overstretch. Her love interest Owen seemed chill but wasn't interesting, just like the rest of Abby's friends. Her adventure was actually more thrilling than Ellie's. As a character she's alright; I was actually interested into where she was exploring and her dialogue with her friends felt authentic. Lev and Yara's backgrounds were really fascinating but in the end, they didn't feel impactful.
    The worldbuilding is a massive improvement over the original. The Scars and WLF felt much more threatening than the infected.
    To cut it short, the message is clear but executed bad. If the game were to end with Ellie living happily with Dina and her child and Abby and Lev reaching the fireflies, I would've been fine with that. Let Ellie not get her revenge and begin to process it and grow stronger would've made sense. Instead, she ends up going off to find Abby--who was kidnapped by a group with Lev--and ends up freeing prisoners along the way, OUT OF VENGEANCE. So the message is vengeance makes you do horrible things, but also good things like free the prisoners and Abby????

    Ahora si por algo el juego anterior me encanto no fue por su temática post apocalíptica o por su gameplay que tampoco era algo revolucionario en esa época sino por su historia y personajes, sin entrar en spoiler la relación entre los protagonistas era de los mas increíble y bien hecho que había tenido el gusto de disfrutar, aquí en TLoU II no sentí nada de eso al contrario el juego me pareció forzado e ilógico, cuando en el anterior tenias un meta fija y un desenlace satisfactorio, aquí esa meta es reemplazada por una búsqueda de venganza que no lleva a ningún sitio. Los personajes son infinitamente menos interesantes que en el anterior con un desarrollo inferior y casi nulo en algunos casos, el juego abusa de los flasback para intentar hacer que simpatices con la causa de ciertos personajes y te plantees el ya clásico "quizás no sean tan malos" haciendo que el juego se sienta aburrido y lento en algunas partes... Da igual que tan bueno sea un juego si al final no disfrutas jugando porque fue mi caso, no estoy diciendo que sea malo sino que a diferencia de otros juegos que vuelvo a ellos cada cierto tiempo para revivir ciertas sanciones, con TLoU II no va a pasar porque se que me terminara cabreando otra vez.
    Pero el juego ya esta hecho y no voy a llorar por un juego que no me gusto, la verdad lo recomiendo pero no como el juego de la generación como muchos dicen sino como un juego para pasar el rato y ya.    … Expand

    Um dos melhores jogos que eu já joguei. Tanto o The Last Of Us Parte 1 quanto o Parte 2. Esse game transmite sensações que pouquíssimos jogos conseguem passar, além de ter uma ótima gameplay com gráficos, ambientações e personagens muito realistas e com diversos detalhes.

    This game is fantastic. I believe practically everyone who tried to bash this game was influenced by youtube hater reviews and Joel's death. I was one of them, I assure you (Unfortunately). But yeah, that was an emotional roller coaster as I was playing the game. I've never played something similar before. I thought Naughtydog nailed it, and I liked every bit of it!

    I just finished the game a minute ago. I am overwhelmed with a mix of sadness and happiness. I love The Last of Us and I'm so sad it's over now but I'm happy I got to know the story, no matter how violent and awful it was. Everyone involved with the game has done an amazing job. The second part has the same amazing feel to it as the first one and Abby was a great add to it, peopleI just finished the game a minute ago. I am overwhelmed with a mix of sadness and happiness.     The last of us 2 is personally the worst game I have ever had the displeasure of playing, there is major issues for almost every aspect of this game, I won't go to deep into explaining stuff because that’s already been done by thousands of people who explain as to why this game is just pure rubbish, so I'll just give a list.

    Story is pure **** it has nothing new or interesting besides being a non-fulfilling ****ty revenge plot.

    Pacing is some of the worst I've seen and has zero replayability, everything in this game is extremely slow, hence the reason I've played tlou1 18 times and lou2 2 and half times.

    Characters are poorly written, made dumber, more inconsistent (Joel, Tommy, Ellie, Abby) new characters are either not interesting at all (Abby's friends + **** Dina) or die before they are developed enough (Jesse)

    Joel's death.... don't even have to talk about how rushed, **** inconsistent, convenient (for Abby), plot contrived and emotionless this shock value death is.

    Abby's 10 HOUR PART.... yeh nah this part was atrocious and felt never ending, truly the dumbest part of this game, ND thought that if she suddenly went from cold hearted scar killer to care taker for some scar children that'd we like her....

    The game is highly plot contrived with a different character’s end goal working out perfectly for them without trying to earn that goal or objective at all, it happens way more often than you think if you really pay attention.

    Not many pointed out the false advertising in this game but if you look at trailer comparisons you'll see many indications that Joel will remain with you throughout most of the story and naughty dog said themselves that Ellie was the only playable character, till we met Abby the aborted She-Hulk.

    gameplay is praised upon which it deserves when it only comes to extended mechanics, animations, gore, gun play, AI and environment/combat arenas. However due to naughty dog’s brain-dead stupid decision to put slow cinematics, overly realistic and pretty animations over responsiveness and quick animations, the game becomes almost unplayable and extremely clunky, everything has a massive delay that affects how quick you can play, looting for materials is also especially tedious and frustrating.

    Well I ended up making this review an essay on accident but if you've read this far then take to this advice, if you’re looking to play tlou2 or get into the last of us as a series, play tlou1, left behind DLC and factions multiplayer that’s it! because as far as your concerned tlou2 shouldn't exist it'll only disappoint you and in fact may ruin tlou1 for you because it has for me.

    And no I'm not checking this off as spoilers because I might save someone some money for something worthwhile.

    Last of all. **** YOU NAUGHTY DOG YOU MADE ME WAIT 7 YEARS FOR A PIECE OF **** GAME YOU CALLED THE LAST OF US PART 2, I HOPE YOU GO BANKRUPT AND NEVER MAKE A GAME AGAIN.    … Expand

I have laughed and even cried from a video game before but It takes something truly special to draw SUCH a wide range of emotion out of a gamer. The Last of Us Part 2 has pulled out FAR more depth and raw emotion out of me then I ever throught was possible. I can honestly say no game, book, movie, tv show, theatre or any entertainment medium has EVER pulled as much out of me than this game. TLOUP2 has made me feel it all, I laughed hard, cried hard, felt such joy and glee, felt pure anger, felt intrigued, pure fun & satisfaction, felt nostalgic, giddy, fear, pure terror, a lot of adrenaline, blew my mind with its lore and depth, puzzled me only to deliver a satisfying answer, it made me feel sick, impressed me, was unpredicatable, just felt so real and well realised. I've felt it all and am blown away at how deep and how much it pulls from you. It's genuinely exhaustng. I was literally SHAKING at one point in the game. No game/movie/show has ever triggered a physical response from me. It truly is something special, it says a lot about the person playing it. The characters and world are so three dimensional that you just accept them as real people. It's so well done. This is no doubt the ceiling to how well a game can execute on fiction and have every aspect works together to present itself the best as possible. Truly one of the greatest games or entertaintment products in all mediums ever. It may not be for everyone but at the very least if you loved the first you have to play this and experience such a masterpiece. The game asks a lot from you and I am happy it does. It doesn't hold your hand. It will challenge you to think about yourself as well as the game. It's truly a game of the generation and one that can be interpreted and analysed and replayed and only gets better with time, perspective and experience. Truly a game that is special and unlike anything I'll likely ever play. The team deserves all the awards. It's no wonder as of writing this it's the most awarded game in history.
