    I first would like to say that the overwhelming 1-star reviews on this game are entirely underserved.

    This form of media, as a game specifically, is excellent. It is clear that Naughty Dog has created a very real and detailed world. One can see that they worked very hard. The scenery in this game is beautiful. It is highly detailed, mechanically consistent, and a testament to how hard    I first would like to say that the overwhelming 1-star reviews on this game are entirely underserved.

    This form of media, as a game specifically, is excellent. It is clear that Naughty Dog has created a very real and detailed world. One can see that they worked very hard. The scenery in this game is beautiful. It is highly detailed, mechanically consistent, and a testament to how hard they worked.

    For this reason alone, this game does not deserve a one star. It is a good game. Perhaps, based on this alone, it deserves at least 3-stars.

    What is left to be judged is the story. If you're reading this, I highly recommend you play the game yourself no matter what you read here and form your own opinion. Many people are leaving bad reviews based on an early event that leaves feeling players betrayed or "shoved SJW ****

    Naturally, players will be angry and leave bad reviews for this, but again this game does not deserve that. The circumstances that happen in-game are believable and real. The story is just as real as the first game. It is surprising, frustrating, depressing, fun, and so much more.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (In normal circumstances I’d give this game a 9 but the tons of bad reviews given by haters that are based off of spoilers made me give it a 10 to “compensate”)

    Now about the game, as you may now every technical aspect of it is gorgeous and on point. Graphics, mechanics, expressions and so on. The story is dense and complex and although I’m a huge fan of the first game and the characters, Joel’s death felt necessary (yes, I agree that it should’ve been a little less “lazy” about how it happened, but still necessary). The second portion of the game, where you play with Abby made me care a lot about her, despite what she did, and that’s where the game is so genius. I felt horrible fighting against Ellie but I felt even worse fighting against Abby in the ending. I was in pain every time I cut her and by the end of the game I found myself crying just like Ellie cried after sparing abby’s life.

    For me, the main flaw about the game is the over use of violent deaths. Yes, the universe of the is cruel and raw, but the excess of deaths made care less. The scene where Abby found Owen, the love of her, dead should’ve felt so much more emotional for me but it just felt like another one. Having said that, TLOU part 2 doesn’t seem right till you really finish the game. If you choose to play it, make sure to play it till the end cause each second of the story is fundamental to the experience.    … Expand

    An absolutely worthy sequel to the original.

    The story is heart wrenching, exhausting, and difficult to swallow at times. I know that it's difficult to accept such a difficult story for characters that many of us fell in love with 7 years ago, but the world that ND created for TLoU is not a kind one.     From a technical perspective, ND outdid themselves. The game is visually stunning, the mechanics have improved from the already great game play experience of the first game without deviating too much, and the variety of approaches the player can take to each encounter makes for an experience with many possibilities.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us part II is no masterpiece and a flawed game, but it’s still really good. So I finished playing The Last of Us pt. II and it took me a while. I’m here to talk about the good the bad and the fantastic. I am not one of those people who saw the leaks because I hate spoilers and I still don’t know what all the leaks were, but I can tell which one was one of the leaks. Now I’m going to talk about the stuff people don’t like because I want to get it out of the way. From what I can tell, a lot of people have a problem with the amount of diversity or that it’s “too woke”, if you are one of those people, I think that this complaint is invalid and that you should grow the hell up, it’s 2020 it’s, a different world now and you’re going to have to get used to how things are now. Also the the game isn’t as woke as people say it is because they’re more subtle about it and I really liked how it was handled in this game. Now another thing that a lot of people are against is the death of Joel and that it happens way too soon. When I first heard that this game was about Ellie’s quest for revenge I was a bit worried and in the trailers it seemed like Dina who is Ellie’s love interest is the one who gets killed, but instead it was Joel. I’ve heard a lot of people saying that Dina should have been the one to be killed and not Joel. As much as I loved the character of Joel in the first game and I was very upset when he died, I honestly thought that this made more sense because not only is it a good motive for Ellie, but also because you as the player and a fan of the first game, you feel motivated to get revenge on the people who did this. If it was Dina who got killed, I don’t think I would have been motivated at all, however I wish we spent more time with Joel before he was killed, but it’s really not that big of a deal. Before I get to the stuff I really loved about this game I have to talk about the stuff I didn’t like. When Ellie finally decides that her quest isn’t worth it and decides to go home, Abby, the person who killed Joel and Ellie’s main target tracks her down and finds Ellie because Ellie has been all over Seattle killing Abby’s friends, and it then cuts to a flashback to four years prior and we finally learn why she killed Joel, (I wont spoil this because it’s one of the best parts of the game) I almost liked this but then it cuts to the same time Ellie first arrives to Seattle but we see it from Abby’s POV. I understand what they were trying to do with this part, but I feel like they were asking too much for us to care, however there were some things that I liked about this part but I honestly think that they should have just showed us the flashback from four years prior and then cut back to the present. I think maybe it would have been better if this part was offered to us as a dlc like “Left Behind” or something, if it were like that then I would probably like this game way more

    Since it’s a game by naughty dog, there was a lot of stuff that I really liked. First off the graphics are AMAZING and it’s probably the best graphics I’ve ever seen in a video game. I was really sold on Jackson as a survival colony and I really wish we could have seen more but it’s no big deal. I thought Dina served as a good love interest To Ellie and I really liked her character. The gameplay is a major upgrade from the first game. Another thing I really liked was the flashbacks with Joel and Ellie. I honestly liked Abby as a character and I really liked how she’s more than just a villain and I did like that they showed that her and Ellie aren’t that different from each other. Out of all the good things in this game, the best part was Ellie. When I heard that we were going to be playing as Ellie in this game I was pretty excited because I thought that she was a great character in the first one and I wish we could spent more time with her there but we’re mostly playing as Ellie in part II, and I really think that Ellie had a really good arc in this game and I know that a lot of people are calling the ending BS but I really liked it and it was really nice to see how much Ellie has evolved and the person she has become. The Last of Us part II isn’t a masterpiece it has some things that rub me the wrong way and I really didn’t want a sequel to The Last of Us, but I’m glad it’s here because I had good time playing this game.    … Expand

Let me begin this review by saying yes, I understand parts of the story can be controversial to others and can be disappointing with the choices in which naughty dog decided to go with TLOU part 2. But let me say that even with the ideal story changes, this game was one of the greatest PlayStation exclusive games that ive played since the original TLOU.
    Let me start by saying that the story was shocking and compelling, and for me at times very questionable. Specifically with playing as the character Abby, for with not understanding who she is or what he purpose compromises of, it throws a curve in our feelings towards what the idea of the story will be like. But with this addition of characters, it begins to show not just one side, but both sides of the story. Since this game half way will cut to Abbys beginning of the story when Ellie enters Seattle. It shows the struggle of both these characters attempt to survive through the deserted streets of Washington Seattle, in which two groups are at war over control of seattle, being the Washington Liberation Front known as the wolves , and the seraphites known as the scars. One group is a broken down branch of fireflies that have taken a new name for themselves, being more militarized with weaponry, vehicles, and Dogs. While the other is a cult like villagers that believe in the beliefs of Their prophets, and the ways of the new world and removing the old world, they take advantage of the environment, using guns and mainly bows and arrows. Ellie begins a quest to hunt down Abby due to her actions in the beginning of the game. Throughout this story, you will watch as drastic actions are taken in order to survive in which will change the characters forever.
    For game play, the gun play, stealth, and crafting have been taken to a whole new level with crafting, being an easier and better way to advance your weaponry with you no longer needing to craft holsters but instead finding them within search areas that can lead you to finding guns and training manuals. Manuals are used in this game as a form of learning new skill branches in which could help you craft items more efficiently, enhance your stealth abilities, upgrade your weapon sway and so on. upgrading weaponry now visually shows on weaponry in which now finding parts to upgrade are mainly focused towards only needing to upgrade weapons. Crafting items has been taken to a whole new level with being able to create new items that can help you efficiently in the battlefield against both the infected and human enemies, advancing melee weapons now work in a more efficient way by removing shiv doors in which now gives you a chance to upgrade your weapons more often since hand to hand combat has become a more implemented part of combat. With the removal of shiv doors, this now allows players to be able to enter loot rooms without the use of shivs, but instead will have to find a hidden way into the room. In my opinion I think this is a better addition to the game since while shivs are still an existing tool in this game, are now more used to help with quick stealth kills and to get out of grabs by infected enemies.
    Within the beginning levels of this game, it allows you to explore areas within the downtown seattle area in order to find Ellies beginning items. in which you are able to open a map and find hidden areas that contain loot within question mark areas on your map, in which you will be able to find hits that can lead you to new areas. This is the only time that TLOU uses an open map system, this part can be related to what Metro Exodus does with its maps, while it may be not exactly open world, it does use the same idea of searching areas to find tools and and equipment to help you in your adventure.
    Combat in TLOU is fully insane, gun fights feel a lot more intense and smooth with cross hairs staying the same as the first game. Body damage to enemies has become more visible with head shots now showing a lot more damage, such as holes in heads and blown off jaws. hand to hand combat becomes violent when items are thrown in the mix, especially since with there being more melee weapons to pick up, it also allows you to upgrade every melee weapon you find.
    In the end, I highly think that while many dislike this game due to its story and for some reason its ideal of lesbians being apart of a game being a problem, the game on its own is phenomenal, its game play gets fully overlooked and frankly, if you're someone who doesn't finish a game and writes a review about the game being bad, your'e not just ignorant, but your'e also making yourself look stupid. Finish something before you judge it, because it can contain a lot of potential ideas for future games.    … Expand

Yes, I know this story feels like a lame plot to excuse the point of a sequel but im taking into the cinsideration the amount of detail and effort into this game for a 9. The graphics, are amazing, and it runs so well on the base ps4. Im a pc gamer and WISH we had optimization like what they do. Now for my favorite part of the game, is the gameplay. It is one of the best controlled third person games I have ever played, there is no delay in movement like in gta 5 and the gameplay is so damn smooth, the mechanics and movement animations are flawless and fall right into place right after each other. I usually would never say this about a naughty dog but omg I come back to this game JUST for the gameplay. Its amazing and looks amazing.… Expand

An interesting and thought-provoking entry into Naughty Dog's long line of fantastic games, The Last of Us Part II dares to challenge traditional notions of good-versus-bad, and raises questions of moral relativism and the role of video games as an art form.

    To get it out of the way; yes, you play a large amount of the game as Abby, the largely-despised ex-firefly from *that* major story leak. This section begins with a cut-to-black following a cliffhanger, followed by a 'three days earlier.' Personally, I, like a lot of players, was initially very bothered by this change. This is The Last of Us! it's the story of Joel and Ellie! Once this point is reached, you are well aware so far that Abby is, by-and-large, the absolute bad-guy of the tale. But then you explore Abby's story. You get to see that, from Abby's point of view, she was answering the fundamental question of the ending to the first game. And, with an open mind, you start to consider whether or not she is right.

    During the Abby section, we have flashbacks of her time as a firefly with her father in Salt Lake City. Yes, you know what is about to happen. Ellie, who is hunting Abby for killing her adoptive father, is now contrasted against Abby; hunting the man who selfishly killed her own father. A complex dilemma.

    Still being unsure about accepting Abby as a protagonist, I found this section of the game flew by as I was trying to get back to Ellie as soon as possible. And yet, I found myself absolutely enthralled. Abby takes it upon herself to show that there can be a large degree of ambiguity in a character's morality. Yes, she killed Joel in cold blood, but here she is risking her life to save two young runaways from a deadly and dogmatic cult. As you continue Abby's segment, the relationship between Abby and one of these runaways (Lev) begins to develop in a microcosmic parallel of Joel and Ellie's relationship.

    Soon after, we reach the same cliffhanger that was played previously from the point of view of Ellie. A fight, characterised by sneaking in the dark not unlike the fight with David from Part I, ensues, culminating in Abby holding the pregnant Dina in a precarious position, ready to slice her throat in revenge for Ellie's actions. She seems to take little issue with the morality of this action, which is a stark contrast from earlier in the story, where Ellie became distraught after realising that she had killed a pregnant woman. Yet Abby decides to be the bigger person. Helped in part by Lev's effect on her, Abby leaves Ellie to live, but reminds her that she will die if Abby sees her again.

    Here, the player is left with a question; and by now, Ellie is aware of what Joel did to Abby. Here, the player is asked whether or not it is just to consider a fool's crusade of revenge, and if they can accept letting it go.

    The next we see Ellie suggests that she chose the latter. We see the farmhouse that Dina mentioned earlier in the story, and an Uncharted 4-esque storybook epilogue. Dina has had the baby, and everything seems happy. Only, Ellie soon collapses in a PTSD-hallucination of Joel's death. After calming down and accepting that this might be the thorn that Naughty Dog leave in our sides for the ending, the epilogue yet continues. Tommy is here now, with news of Abby's location. Everything points to Ellie letting it go, leaving it behind.

    But again, the epilogue doesn't end. Ellie leaves for Santa Barbara with players shouting at their screens for her to let it go.

    And we're Abby again. She appears as an adoptive mother for Lev, and the relationship here is perhaps the most obvious parallel between Abby and Joel, Lev and Ellie. The two of them are taken prisoner soon after learning that the fireflies are still around (threequel potential? HBO series?), and we soon learn that Ellie is on their trail. Ellie catches up with Abby and frees her from her captors. We are led to believe that perhaps, Ellie might let it go. But she puts her blade to Lev's throat. She needs to finish this.

    The fight is a raw and emotional battle. Both Abby and myself are in the same frame of mind; I don't want to do this. Abby bites off her fingers in the struggle; Ellie gets the upper hand and begins drowning Abby. But it is now that Ellie sees Abby and Lev as I do. She gets a flash of Joel behind her eyes, which we later see in full detail; a conversation between Joel and Ellie. Joel asserts that he would save Ellie again if he were given the chance. Ellie realises that she has become the villain, and makes the difficult but ultimately *right* decision to let Abby and Lev go. She knows now that holding on to an existence of hate that Joel himself would never have allowed is all she has become.

    She returns to the farmhouse to find that Dina has left. Ellie's possessions are all that remains. The fight with Abby took away her ability to play guitar, her major connection with Joel. And she wordlessly conveys that is wasn't worth it.    … Expand

    I don't care what anyone says, I loved this game. There were a few bits that were upsetting but they were played out that way to make the story go towards the theme of the game, I personally recommend it but some people don't always feel the same way unfortunately :(

    Eu chorei em muitas cenas do jogo, fiquei ansioso e chegava a tremer mas por favor, joguem esse jogo, se interligue com ele e sinta tudo o que você deve sentir

    From a technical standpoint, the game is a masterpiece. The story is great too. Although not as good as the first one, it doesn't take away from it, if anything it improves upon it.
    Seeing the story play from two different points of view is interesting.
    Definitely would recommend.

The last of us part 2 was a beautiful game and very grusome and cold blodded and I love the direction they went in the story and how the relationship between Ellie and Dina grows and gets better as Ellie go on her hunt of REVENGE and I love how they let you play as Abby a character who is by far less agliy then Ellie but way stronger and a lil smarter on certain parts and I loved how you felt the difference between the two there was a few uncomfortable parts in this game I amdit but other than that it was great even tho ya did my **** Joe dirty but I felt like he had to die in tlou2 but in a more honorable way… Expand

I feel that Naughty Dog gave us a game we did not want story-vice, but a game we needed. What a mean is you can’t please everyone, but you can make a story that you need. Just saying if you like this world play it! Just keep an open mind. I saw company reviews and was a little skeptical which is why I waited until I finished the game to see how it really is. I thought the story was phenomenal but I would still change things if given the chance. For starters, Joel's death was too early in my opinion. I understand that it was thing that moved the story along but it was pretty early in the game. I think that playing as Abby was a great choice and a bold decision that was pretty brave of them. People get mad at this decision because they don't want to show sympathy to the woman that killed Joel. I dont think that the point was to show sympathy , but to make you understand where she is coming from. The only reason it's not a 10 from me is because I did feel that the story dragged at points of the game. But I loved it overall and would definitely recommend fp anyone, as long as they play the original first.… Expand

    People need to chill. This game was a masterpiece. Stop 0 starring because you're a) homophobic and never even played the game, let alone beat it b) having one nitpick that would tick off 1 or 2 points at best.

    战斗部分由于流程过长令人感到乏味的时刻变多（主要集中在Ellie的部分。Abby部分的关卡设计和她的动作、处刑动画总能让人不悦地想起Joel，开发者的险恶用心啊！），但也不乏高光时刻。希望玩家们不要只听取极端的情绪宣泄，而是自己放下偏见去接纳这个游戏试试看。会不一样的。我游戏时长两小时的时候和通关的时候完全不是同一个体验。
    9/10，很顽皮狗的续作，问题不少但还是会令人着迷。遗憾的是TLOU1实在太优秀。    … Expand

    People complaining about the story are ridiculous. Personally I think the story is very good. It continues off of the first well and shows an honest relationship between Ellie and Joel. People don't like knowing the side of the opposition as human, seeing the leads do horrible and terrifying things. I get that, it's a very sad and dark moment for all fans, I was super pissed, and that fact that they had the guts to make us ,the players play, as Abby for the whole second half the game was disgusting. However, i soon realized that this was a vital move for the theme of this story. Even though playing as Abby is my least favorite part of the game that section brought to the table what the first game brought. Two people randomly meeting each other developing a special bond creating some of the best story moments in the game. Abby meets and interacts with some of the best characters I have seen in video games this past generation. This also allows the player to see both sides of the spectrum showing why Abby does what she does. Even though this game tried its hardest to make me sympathize for Abby, I just never could. Instead I always saw myself caring for the characters around her like Lev, Yara, and Owen but never her. So this makes it tens times harder for the player whenever it comes down to the moment when "crap hits the fan" and certain character suffer from terrible fates. However in some cases this games story does feel all over the place because of the random flashbacks in key moments that draw you away from the main story. Also the looting after killing dozens of men and the characters just super cheery and talking to each other like nothing happened bothers me. But these moments do not justify the right to give the game a zero. You can tell just by the loading screen this game has some much hardwork and dedication poured into it and over thousands of hours of work put into it. It really is a beautiful game and the gameplay is phenomenal. This game really shows the full potential games can reach in the next generation. Lets get back to the discussion of the story. Even though it may seem like just a classic revenge story with the whole story showing why revenge is "bad" it is way deeper. Naughty Dog whole point of this game is to go beyond and do something no one has ever done. Each characters decisions feel like they have impact and weight to the world, and it gives you this feeling that you will not know what happens next. This game made me UNCOMFORTABLE, I felt like any second a character I loved would soon have their life drained from their bodies leaving me with a feeling of dread constantly. Showing how truly evil human beings are. The story is not supposed to make people happy. *THIS IS NOT A HAPPY GAME* it is eery dark and scary. Every choice Ellie and Abby make are not good and alot of the times questionable. Because of this I was left speechless and sad over the things I had done to these people even though it seems like they deserved it. Even though playing the game through Abby ultimately hurt the game and killed the story for alot of people, and me to a certain extent, I believe that is the whole purpose. The point of this game is not to be happy with the outcomes but to be mad and frustrated with what happens because life is not always a happy story. That's why TLOU Part II is simply one of the best games I have ever played. Because it shows us what the dark side of humanity is.… Expand

I just finished the game and I can say its worth every penny. People are complaining about “hidden agendas” and “poor story telling” when a majority just get pissed off about the leaks they saw without context or within Playing the first 2 hours of the game. Everyone had their dream setting and outcome for this game and for most people this game is different. It personifies the villains. It demonizes heroes. But it does it logically and it is genuinely a great story. Combat is improved. Soundtrack is amazing. Graphics are excellent. My advice is to to buy this game but take time to read the notes in the streets. Look at characters expressions throughout the story. Think about yourself in each characters shoes and it really is a realistic adaptation of this apocalyptic world. I loved every minute of it and I’m happy for it to be a part of my collection.… Expand

They did exactly what I hoped they would, by extending the world to other story arcs. Without having Abby's story told in this way and without Joel dying this would have been a complete waste. They were able to continue the story from where it ended last.. Ellie knew Joel was lying in the end and we get to see the fallout from his decision, emotionally from both perspectives.… Expand

He had no last words to Ellie and hers were yelling at him to get up. And Abby as a character who learns compassion for children that otherwise she would have shot, really turns her into the protagonist of the story. Sure we all love Ellie but we have to admit she is the villain of this story. Abby sought after revenge for a reasonable reason, and didn't kill the others. Ellie rampaged and killed all of Abby's friends as revenge. And then doesn't kill abby to end the cycle of violence caused by Joel. Ellie lost everything, her "father" her girlfriend, and adopted child. The fact that people think because there were gay characters and a transgender child means they pushed their agenda amazes me. So what that they were in the game. Just because its the apocalypse doesnt mean they dont exist anymore. Ellie and Dina are still amazing characters and Lev was very likable. I thoroughly loved this game in the whole 27 hours i spent with it. The graphics were perfect. Writing was realistic and personable, the story was strong between both playable characters. The encounters were excellent. Gameplay additions although few were very well made. I absolutely give this game a 10/10 and don't understand any people that don't agree.     I can safely say this is one of the most amazing peices of story telling this generation of games. I need to emphasize, if you've played any naughtydog games, they are experiental. What this means is you gain most of the context through the conversations between characters, through facial expressions, music and emotion portraid by the voice actors.

    There is a complex narrative that interweaves journeys from both sides, having you question who was right and who was wrong.

    Yes Joels death was heartbreaking, but the game spends 20 hours + fleshing out the why. By the end of the game i was torn between who i was vouching for.

    I urge you to bypass all the negative reaction you've seen, there has been a hate campaign against this campaign that started over 2 years ago when they talked about exploring Ellie's sexuality.

    Any reviews you read on here that score the game under 5 there's a high chance they haven't even played the game, even if you do not like the story and direction it's taken, there's an incredible game, technical masterpeice to experience.

    If you look at the majority of low reviews , they are from the day the game was released. Most people have opinions formed before the game even released.

    It's ridiculous to think you can form an opinion on the narrative without experiencing how it's delivered.

    Many of the reviews haven't even played the game. It's almost a 30 hour game and they've reviewed it less than 24 hours after release? No. This game is good. At first I wasn't a fan of the new playable character, but she grows on you. I still don't like her, but it was tolerable. Even though you lose a main character right away, the story still goes on. Very enjoyable game overall.

I'm into survival horror much more than action/adventure, so I am surprised that anyone could have a problem with the game being "unrelentingly bleak." For me, that a bonus. The gameplay and storyline are ethically demanding and emotionally taxing. You are forced to reckon with the violence your characters partake in and from multiple angles. Becoming attached to opposing characters in the game made it truly disturbing and uncomfortable when circumstances got reversed. This kind of storytelling is more common in literature than in games, and I appreciated it greatly. Beware of all the snap judgments out there: a proper playthrough takes 25 to 35 hours, and the internet was flooded with bashing mere hours after release. On top of that, characters not behaving the way you wish they would is not a plot hole.… Expand

Muchos se quejan de la muerte de joel y les recuerdo que la historia se basa en un mundo apocalíptico, aquí no hay héroes no porque eres el prota vas a estar vivo porque no hay héroes y no habrán, el juego es super realista en ese punto y otros se quejan sobre el final de que ellie no venga a joel y yo a qui les pregunto.... I’ll preface by saying I’ve basically memorized the first one, absolutely loved it and it’s been my top favorite game for the entire seven year wait for the sequel. I felt connected to that game, and I was emotionally invested in all of the characters. Naturally when this was announced several years back I was heavily excited. But on to the actual review As I’ve literally just finished the game. SPOILERS! I’ll start with the negatives: I understand why Joel was killed in the fashion that he was, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that I liked how it happened and especially didn’t like that it happened pretty much right from the start. But if you’re going to build a game around a revenge journey, what better way to do that than to mercilessly murder a truly loved character. I wish that act would’ve waited a couple more hours in the game and I would’ve liked some more Ellie and Joel time not in flashbacks. My next negative is that I honestly felt like this game was pushed and lead on that we’d be focusing on Ellie, yet here we are spending half of the game playing as Abby and going through her story. I honestly got frustrated because I just wanted to play as Ellie and continue her story and journey. But after playing as Abby for a while, I realized what the developers were doing with this game, which is basically showing us the other side of our actions and that the actions we make, both in the past (Joel killing her father in cold blood) and present (Ellie killing her friends in the aquarium) will eventually have consequences. It’s a dark world that they live in, and everyone is just trying to get to tomorrow. Though I will admit, it was neat how they told all of the events from Ellie’s point of view, and then all of the events from Abby’s point of view. It helped show me that there’s more to this world, even though I was really only wanting Ellie’s revenge story. And lastly, Kinda wish that she didn’t let Abby live but that’s just my opinion. Now on to the positives: despite the negatives that I have with the game, which really isn’t many even though they’re quite large, I still thoroughly enjoyed the game. I enjoyed the smarter AI with the enemies both infected and non-infected. The added challenge was nice and a major improvement on the first. Also, combat and environmental movements felt a lot like Uncharted 4 to me which was odd at first but I grew to really like it eventually because working my way through this world was really enjoyable. Also, as someone who regularly plays on PC with uncapped frame rates at first I struggled but honestly even though the game is locked at 30FPS, it really didn’t seem like it too much. Graphically the game is gorgeous and I think they did a great job on it even if my PlayStation wanted to take off from the fan kicking on so high. But I think the most important positive above all of the others is that this game, even with it being different than what I expected and wanted, still made me extremely emotional and reminded me as to why I loved Ellie and Joel so much. I hate that he’s gone, but I love that he lives on through Ellie and that she’ll go on in life carrying him with her and impacting those based on how he helped raise her. In summation, I wish there were some different things in this game, but it’s still a good one nonetheless. It’s still a good story, still emotional and powerful but in a different way than the first. I give it a solid 8/10. One last note however, typically I find that a lot of games and movies fall short when they try to incorporate females or those who are gay or minorities in to lead roles because they tend to focus on the role being a strong FEMALE/GAY character instead of a STRONG female/gay character. The character is garbage and not engaging if they’re not a strong character regardless as to their sex, race etc... And contrary to the popular belief from many reviews I’ve read, I don’t necessarily agree with most of them because I think they got it right with Ellie and Abby. Both of their characters put the plot and story first, they’re both strong characters, and the fact that they’re female/gay isn’t the centerpiece of the story.… Expand

    Playing this game I see it was made with love. Reading negative reviews I seem, that people who wrote this played some other game. Characters are interesting, interesting is to watch their relationships, their emotions. The gameplay is inherent to the games of this genre - explore, collect, shoot and kill.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't know why people keep saying that this game is bad. Not only the playability, the story telling for me is one of the best. I think everyone is pissed off due to Joel's death and Ellie's failed revenge. The idea of knowing another perspective playing as Abby is just astonishing, you start hating Abby in such a way that you can't control to wish her death, but you can realize that she isn't a bad person in such context, she was just trying to fulfill the same objective as Ellie's actual objective. The only thing that i may change is the end, that is a big detail but that doesn't implie that the game deserve a bad mark at all.… Expand

    The greatest storytelling achievement in the history of games. All the people who hate it will look ignorant in 20 years. Just because it wasn't what you wanted or what you would have made, doesn't mean it isn't a masterpiece.

I am having the time of my life with this game. Having played the last..I'd say this continues on the great path of a game that is extremely hard to follow up. But I can assure you...if you are a gamer without political ties...this is gonna be the sweetest adventure in a while. This is one of those games that I try not to binge too hard in fear that the adventure might be over too soon. I feel the suspense all the while walking through. I love hitting a patch of clickers that I gotta take down. The game is just so beautiful it makes every moment playing a gem. I just can't give it high enough marks. Not to mention the quality of the execution...this game shines all the frigging time..almost never is there a time that I don't want to zoom in on something in the environment. So...if you can put your favorite controversy on hold...enjoy this seriously outstanding example of interactive gaming. Been playing since Atari 2600 Pitfall. I'm a gamer..not a political tool. Cheers! Oh by the way...you know you have done something completely magical...if you get some genuine haters. I love it. I mean...the last time Naughty Dog wrote a bad game is.....NEVER!     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before I even begin with my paltry review, let me implore those on the fence: do not just look at numbers and hype. Experience this game for yourself and let it speak on its own. Few games have ever caused me to have such a visceral emotional reaction as The Last of Us. It is only fitting, then, that it’s sequel would up that ante beyond my wildest expectations. Despite it not being a perfect game, it is as reasonably close as I think any game could ever get. Let me explain some aspects that really resonated with me. *SPOILERS AHEAD*

    First of all, despite any news to the contrary, the character development in this game is brilliant, subtle, and definitely not based on any agenda other than telling gripping stories. From the symbolism (Ellie’s butterfly moth tattoo, the guitar, etc), to the incredible voice and performance acting, this game sparkles. Ellie’s transformation throughout her revenge quest is so deep it is almost insane to try to speak about it in writing. After she tortured Nora to death, she returns to the theater, shaking and horrified with what she has done. At this moment you see her passion for this killing spree wane as she is content with killing only one more person: Abby. But then she is forced to kill both Mel and Owen, which forces her over the edge of horror with what she has become: a ruthless child murderer. She gets ready to outright abandon her quest, despite having done unspeakable things in the name of revenge. How fitting then, that her actions come back to haunt her just when she would leave it behind. She viscerally loses a friend instantly and nearly loses her life and the last two people she cares about. But then, we see Abby willing to let her go of her hate despite the horrible things she has done as her greatest moment of redemption. Then we see the ramifications of this moment of mercy.

    I will be honest, I have never wanted a game to end more than when Ellie and Dina were living happily on their farmstead. At this point, the circle of violence was broken. Ellie was happy, safe, and had everything in the world that mattered. But it would not be a Naughty Dog game without a last haunting bit of story. Ellie just cannot let go of the festering hate inside of her. She cannot stop herself from seeing out her revenge. But in the ultimate twist of fate, her gut wrenching encounter with Abby ends with Ellie finally finding a way to let go. She beautifully recalls her attempt to forgive Joel, and we are left to know that she is trying to find a way to let forgiveness heal her broken soul. But it comes so late that she has lost everything. Physically, she has lost the ability to play guitar, her last connection with a Joel. This alone almost made me weep at the end bitterly. But worse yet, she lost the only two people in the world she has left to love. She lost her family. Yet with that final line, “I’d like to try,” Ellie gives this heartbreaking narrative the faintest glimmer of hope. The juxtaposition of the themes of hope and The crushing loss that always accompanies hate are what make this game resonate in such a deep way. Outside great literary masterpieces we rarely are treated to so nuanced a perspective on our human condition and imperfections. I won’t comment deeply on Abby’s narrative. Suffice to say it felt that her piece of this story was to pour a little gray into the moral mix, and give an opportunity to brilliantly flesh out the world and its factions. Lev also makes a great additional character, exposing both the philosophy and the perversion thereof in the Seraphites. He also gives an opportunity for Abby to spare Dina where she would have otherwise made the circle of violence continue uninterrupted. Overall, I cannot express how deeply incredible this game is. I haven’t even touched on the technical genius of this game because there is nothing remotely like it. The physics, the environments, the subtle ways the NPCs treat each other and their environment, all work to achieve the perfect immersion in this game. I cannot stress this enough; ignore the review bombs, and experience this game for yourself.    … Expand

Такие игры выходят очень редко и в это грех не поиграть, не зря я ждал 7 лет)) получаю удовольствие от игры.     All in all a solid game with some problems with continuity(character personality wise), old fashioned gameplay that is known by the first game, wich was good but barely was worked on(? Also I miss the multiplayer).
    There is also a little bit of meh about the inclussion of open world. It adds and also conflicts this world.


    But a definitly good game.

    Yes there are times you feel that certain agenda are being shoved forcefully down your throat-all out of nowhere- still these same plots payed out by giving the protagonist depth, in my opinion.
    Throughout the game I felt I was in Ellie’s shoes
    I understood the difficulty of remembering loved one’s face, and being confused and angry after their death; I hated playing as Abby , but step by step I started to forgive her, the way events transpired felt realistic, yes Joel didn’t die all in the the blaze of glory, yet it felt real you know why, because in real life when a loved one dies suddenly and unexpectedly, you feel cheated same as you feel In this game, i was angry all through out the game but in those final moments I felt the release that Ellie felt ,and my heart was broken!
    Revenge is indeed a scary endless dark pit that consumes all.
    Gameplay, graphics, sound, and soundtrack is a huge improvement I think all would agree!    … Expand

    The graphics,mechanics and gameplay in general is fantastic,but the plot fails in many moments.

    The death of Joel was ridiculous,doesn't match his personality,a old survivor. **** Abby kills Joel with cruelty refinements and you try to make us accept her? Really? who gave this **** idea?
    I like ending of this game was really powerfull,Ellie shows his personality,she loves Joel and Joel loves her so much. "We must be better than this" summarizes this ending.

    But in the end,I felt a lot of things playing this game, a lot of good and some bad things, it moved me a lot. This is a good game, it’s not perfect like the first one, but it’s a good game.It was worth every second for me despite everything.

    The political position drains much of plot,man The Last Of Us universe is so great we don't need a pamphlet,we need a The Last Of Us game!

    This game is incredible. The fact that the first Last of Us changed the history of games and TLOU2 continued this legacy just fine, for me is amazing. Not all sequences are good, but this one absolutely is. The hate it is recieving is, for sure, from people who didn't play it right. The cinematics, the ambientation, the soundtrack, the fact that even NPCs you fight against are not justThis game is incredible. EVERYTHING in this game is so balanced.

    You may and surely can be upset with some events that happened, I sure did, but this game was never supposed to be a fairy tale and neither the characters in it are flawless. Every single one of them are human, make mistakes and have their own mind and feelings. It's ok to disagree or wish that this or that could've been different, but call this game trash is just so unfair. The combat mechanics, the accessibility for people with disabilities (the game has full text-to-speech mecanism, for example), the models of the characters, their facial expressions, even their eyes are so detailed... you can't say this game is trash!!!! it's beautifully done, from its story all the way to its gameplay.

    I finished the game two days ago and I still can't fully process it. My expectations were different. Much different. However, it doesn't makes it a bed game. From breathtaking graphics, pleasing sound-track and amazing environment, to smooth combat and fun exploration of each location, the game was beautiful.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
