All the bad buzz behind the game is so unjustified. Ellie’s adventure is one Of The beatifullest journey that I had to play. Yes, de Naughty Dog have some problems in interne and have to change the work conditions (crunch) but you can not denied that The Last Of Us Part II is an amazing game. I have a plat in TLOU part 1 and after 3/4 of the part 2 game-play, I just feel I won't finish it. It has some intense moments but overall the story doesn't make any sense to me. While I didn't have any problems with playing as Abby her storyline didn't convince me (yet). I feel like I'm forced to like her because she is presented as a very kind and animal loving person (lol) yet she is desperately chasing after Joel and killing him with pleasure.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played through the game in about 20 hours, and I must say, this is a masterpiece to me. Apart from some pacing issues in the story, everything was an amazing experience. The gameplay is a mayor upgrade from the first game, but still has the core of that game, so if you didn't like that gameplay then you probably won't enjoy the gameplay of the second game. The visuals are the best I've ever seen on PS4 and I couldn't stop using the photo mode every two seconds. The sound design is ofcourse also beautiful and makes the atmosphere even more immersive. The story also took a very different path than the first game. Most people don't like way Joel's death was handled and the character Abby. I'm actually fine with the way Joel's death was done and his choices don't seem unrealistic to me. The different perspectives you play through during the story also make a lot of sense and show more of the theme of no clear bad guys or good guys. I liked Abby's character and playing as her also showed the "good" side of her. People are also unhappy with the ending but I really think it makes sense. At the last moment Ellie comes to the realization of the cost of revenge and because of that she let's Abby go. That was her only way of finding peace with Joel's death and she realizes that. It has the same feeling as the first games ending and made me even more emotional. Overall, this is a game I would definitely recommend. It is definitely not a game for everyone though. The story takes a way different route and certainly for fans with specific expectations, this may not be an enjoyable experience for them. Next to that, reading the leaks afterwards, I understand why the game would seem very bad. But most of the narrative has been left out in that, and I think people really need to have played this game/watched the ENTIRE playthrough (not just a couple hours) to form a good opinion. Most people are basing their opinions on Joel's death and the fact you play as Abby for 40% of the game, but I think that's unjustified. And even if it had a garbage story, I'd actually still buy it because the gameplay, visuals and scenery are still **** amazing. But with this great revenge story with it, it's a 10/10 for me. (And yes, 10/10 doesn't mean it has zero flaws. But this is definitely my game of the year and it may even be one of my favourite games of all time, so it deserves a 10.)… Expand

    I don't understand why people rate the game so low.
    It's not the best story. It's trying too many things and ends up missing thr mark a bit. Not as hard hitting as the first game.
    But as a standalone game and even as a sequel it's amazing work by the Dev's. The mechanics are far ahead of any game, the graphics are next gen, the story is also good better than all the crappy stories other    I don't understand why people rate the game so low.

Эта игра очень спорная. У кого то может гореть от неё , а кому то понравится сюжет . По себе я могу сказать что здесь все спорно, с одной стороны очень больно в начале и хочется убить того кто совершил этот поступок , а с другой стороны не понятно что происходит и что дальше будет . До сих пор есть вопросы но на многие автор ответил . Здесь нет конкретного злодея и героя , порой можно увидеть что элли не может дальше продолжать это , но она обязана . С геймплейной точки зрения здесь безусловно все хорошо и даже отлично . Я бы хотел чтобы все поиграли и прочувствовали эту игру потому что только пройдя ее можно понять для себя и расставить все .… Expand

It moved where it needed to move and I can live with that. From a technical aspect, amazing. Really shows off what the current PlayStation generation can do.     I finished this game. I loved every minute of it.

    I see a lot of reviews stating that if you like this game you are a simp, or if you hate this game you are a bigot...both are equally wrong. Entertainment is subjective. And it's wrong to be judged for liking something that suits your taste. I love this game because it's bleak, it's not a fairytale ending for anyone. And it talks about what would happen if we go to that dark place that makes us hurt ppl.

    The way I see it, if the first game is about a father who lost his daughter, the second game is about two daughters, both have lost their fathers and they both want justice and both take the darkest route for that. While Abby was forever changed from the violence of the first game, Ellie was trying to run away from the same violence while also fighting that survivors guilt that she didn't have a choice to save the world because of her adoptive father's actions.

    It was Abby who struck first, and rightfully so but the way it was done might not sit well with the gamers, I agree. But all of this is not happening in a world where law and order are practiced, that world is over and this is a more realistic portrayal of life during the apocalypse so it makes sense that Abby did what she did, in the way that made sense to her.

    Ellie on the other hand was just starting to make amends with Joel and was looking ahead for a new start with her adoptive dad, and it was violently taken away from her. So her anger is justified here as well.

    By the end of the second act of the game we see where their actions have led both of our characters towards, Ellie gets disgusted by her own actions after killing an innocent pregnant woman who had nothing to do with Abby except for being present when Joel got killed, while at the same time she got Jesse murdered, Dina and Tommy gravely injured in her pursuit of vengeance. This action opens Ellie's eyes towards the violence she has shelled out, and she stops her quest for vengeance. Meanwhile Abby, who after killing Joel has no more purpose in life goes on her own adventure that mirrors Joel's from the first game, with Lev, and in her adventure she looses everything, because she found the mistakes of her ways, she stopped seeing things as black and white, she ended up helping a couple of Seraphite kids, and saw the humanity in them, while it gave her a new purpose, it came at a cost, she lost everyone she cared about and the love and respect for the people who took her in after she left the fireflies. When she wants to leave the world of violence and finally understands to empathize with her fallen and weakened enemy she gets pulled back in due to the death of her friends. For a bit she goes back to her own violent ways, killing Jesse, Shooting and injuring Tommy, Almost killing Dina, but she was stopped by Lev and she returns back to her new self, and ventured out to Santa Barbara.

    But our karma always follows us, Abby and Lev get captured and brutally tortured by slave traders, and imprisoned, much like how the WLF treated the Seraphites in the start of the second act. Over here she pays for her sins.

    Ellie on the other hand still feels like she has failed Joel, and has difficulty living the perfect life she is having with Dina and JJ, she has PTSD and wants to feel normal, so she picks up her guns again and rides to finish off Abby for once and for all, and there is a cost here which is she will Lose Dina, JJ and a peaceful family life all over again.

    Ellie finds and half-heartedly tries to fight a weakened Abby to bring an end to the chaos she carries in her mind. But doesn't finish her.This last act of violence would have made Ellie completely unredeemable in her mind, she would have lost herself to the darkness and it was tempting to give in to that. But imagine she killed Abby, what then? Will she kill Lev, a kid who was not a part in this as well? This game is about costs that we and our loved ones pay in our needless pursuit of violence to get even. And it features flawed but natural human beings.    … Expand

    The gameplay mechanics are still fun, outstanding graphics, good soundtrack. I do agree that the story is not un par with part 1. Think the flashback scenes should have been done as chapter 1 and 2 before the first 2 hours of the game. 8/10

    Me parece un juegazo evidentemente porque es lo que es, nadie puede decir lo contrario, gráficamente es obviamente lo mejor hasta la fecha, todos los detalles son brutales, la historia para mí es genial, el argumento es bastante bueno, y hacen cosas que es difícil ejecutarlas bien, pero son Naughy Dog obviamente lo hacen genial, hay momentos muy emotivos que te hacen sentir de verdad, elMe parece un juegazo evidentemente porque es lo que es, nadie puede decir lo contrario, gráficamente es obviamente lo mejor hasta la fecha, todos los detalles son brutales, la historia para mí es genial, el argumento es bastante bueno, y hacen cosas que es difícil ejecutarlas bien, pero son Naughy Dog obviamente lo hacen genial, hay momentos muy emotivos que te hacen sentir de verdad, el combate me encanta y tiene muchas mecánicas e ideas geniales, es una obra maestra, no digo que sea el mejor juego de la historia pero es un gran juego.

Poniendo flashbacks en los momentos precisos. Nos quisieron mostrar que en un mundo apocaliptico todos están jodidos psicologicamente, y que todos son los malos dependiendo del punto de vista. Y al final Ellie perdonó a Abby porque se dió cuenta que la venganza sólo trae más venganza y que nunca va a poder tener la conciencia tranquila. Y por una mala decisión puedes perder todo (el último flashback con Joel fue épico)… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a Masterpiece. I loved playing through the game from start to finish. So many emotionally draining moments, from Joel's death to the ending. It was a heartbreaking story with Ellie seemingly losing everything, Dina and JJ included as a result of her hunting for revenge for Joel's death. Hands down best game I've ever played, it's even the first one that has made me cry (Sarah's death and Ellie's incident with David made me come close).

    Visually, the game was absolutely stunning. The reflections were fantastic and the lighting was superb, even on a base PS4 with normal 1080p TV. It felt so real and in particular the cut scenes where more often than not it was like watching a scene out of a movie instead of a game. Great animation too, superb; the movement was so fluid and I loved the transitions from cut scene to gameplay, very well done!!

    The soundtrack is something else. It's phenomenal. It really adds to the experience in my opinion. The music along with the heartbreakingly brutal story just works, it's memorable. I could listen to a piece of music from the game and remember which song was in what bit of the game (I.e. All Gone playing when Joel dies when you're playing and playing All Gone without playing the game you just know where in the game that song is.

    Obviously the game isn't perfect, I do wish the Abby segment wasn't as long as it was BUT I do think that got to show is more about her, her motives for wanting to kill Joel and her change as a character (once being a devout Wolf, then going AWOL and helping Seraphites.
    Yes there was that scene on the boat with Owen and Abby and maybe it was a bit too much but this is an 18 and we know about their past relationship so I don't have many complaints there.

    I loved the brutality, the combat felt too real with the incredible graphics, very detailed.

    I've already played through it twice (first completed 21/06/20) and I still felt the same way as I did when completing the game for a second time. Even when you know what's coming it still gets you emotionally, and the Rat King is still just as scary and revolting as the first time. Fantastic game!    … Expand

    I'll start off with this. I've been waiting for a sequel back in 2013 since the credits rolled after Joel's lie.
    The first game was a masterpiece. And it's probably why people are talking so much smack about this sequel. Neil's writing peaked at the first installment of The Last of Us. That was it. Hands down.

    See, the problem with this sequel is because the first one set the bar too high. But Naughty Dog did their absolute best to bang this game out. I loved the graphics, I loved the gameplay, I loved the challenges, I loved the feeling of getting through those insane bosses. I actually had some fun. It was intense, it was thrilling.

    BUT, this isn't anything like the first one. There were some parts of the game that I thought was just a drag. Playing as different characters isn't anything new but playing as the game's antagonist definitely was a different experience. When the game tried to gain sympathy for Abby by putting us in her shoes, it sort of worked for me.

    I was so confused as to why I actually felt sorry for Abby when Ellie was beating her up at the final fight. I guess that's what made this game good in its own way. Good guy? Bad guy? This game blurred the lines between those. It was a roller coaster of emotions. A bundle of unpredictability.

    Ellie and Joel's fate broke my heart into a million pieces. However, I will not give this a bad rating. It wasn't unbearable to play, it was just hard to watch everything that everyone went through. I've developed an emotional attachment to these characters since the first game so of course I've shed some tears during some parts of the game.

    If you liked this game, let's call it an acquired taste.    … Expand

    Played the game 10 h so far. It's one of best looking and detailed games on the current console generation. I'm astound of the details they put in. And yes the strikes on YouTube are a sign of bad behavior but on my side the game is way underrated. (I'm not a native English speaker)

    Now I pre ordered the deluxe edition (matter of fact i cant get a return for that) and i was so anxious about playing it but...

    - Graphics were ok, from the 2017 trailer to the last product, there is a downgrade, ok i didnt care that much. God of War look much way better
    - Gameplay was poor, the same moves, the same was to fight, no evolution after all.
    - Sound was marvelous, dont argue with that
    - History and plot: this is the big dowsizing about the game, not even waited more than 2 hours, and Joel is dead... i mean wtf, he was the hero of the game, i wanted to know more about Jackson, how was the live there, how they can analyze Ellie for getting a cure, i dont know but she went to a cruzade, killing all living and dead just to get Joels murdered and forgive her....WTF thats just stupid come on. A horrible plot, no evolution on the game...why is that a zombie game anymore

    Story wise... Playing from Abby's POV at first was infuriating. I hated it and hated it and hated it until, slowly, I didn't, and finally, by the end, it was my favourite part of the game. In the first half of play, I was disappointed because I felt like there wasn't a lot of growth in Ellie. What I'd loved about TLOU1 was the character growth we saw in Joel, and it just felt like that was missing. In the second half, though, I got that growth I wanted, and I got it from playing Abby. The idea of violence begetting violence was heart wrenching and painfully clear through the plot. When Ellie and Dina ended up at the farmhouse with JJ, I wept. I was so grateful that they got a happy ending, JJ was adorable, and it felt right. It felt like an end to the violence. When Ellie went after Abby and left Dina, I was angry. I wish the game had ended on that happy note, but the reasoning behind it made sense. The final ending of the game felt a little hopeless, with a tremendous sense of loss, but with layers and open directions to go. I hope there is a 3rd.
    I'm giving this game a 10, because it gave me everything I'd want from a game. The action was fun and a clear upgrade from the original. I loved all the variation in combat, the horses, the crossbow, the boats. I was losing my mind at how incredible the Haven burning scene was and having to stealth between two factions at war. I really liked Lev and Yara. The conflict with their mom was heartbreaking and I found myself very attached to the characters. My emotions were wrecked multiple times through this game, but, classifying it as a tragedy, I loved it. A truly immersive experience.    … Expand

    As someone who considers the first game a masterpiece and one of, if not my all time favorite game, The Last of Us 2 has earned its place alongside the first in my mind. Even if I give the second one point lower than the first. Where this game fumbles is nothing compared to how it made me feel when the credits rolled. I loved it.

And as for calling Abbey a d*ke lol she's straight if you played the game youd see that but most didn't, how could they review it within hours of it being out when the games insanely long.. And as for playing as abbie sorry her side of the story was amazing to see and you were just to salty over Joels death. The end of the game is about humanity as a whole and the things people will do to each other for it and the things they will give up in themselves for it. But that is probably lost on some people. The story was the best iv seen next to red deads in a video game. The graphics are beyond anything iv seen to the point of looking like it was a next gen game already. I would advise anyone to play the WHOLE game and see for yourself there are no forced politics or agenda's here just backward people from backwards countries who are not used to woman who are tough and bad ass. Shame on you for being so disgusting. Anyway this for me was probably the best video game i ever had the privilege to play and i will remember it for a very long time. All game devs should learn from Naughty Dog and wear the inclusion pants without fear. В качестве самостоятельного произведения и продукта это безусловно очень достойная история, которая определено имеет место быть, однако со стороны игрока, сюжет очень тяжел для игры. Это не RPG и ни какая другая история, где мы можем отыгрывать самого себя, свои поступки, здесь мы видим и переживаем все глазами Элли и Эбби. Всеми силами игра хочет заставить нас начать сопереживать Эбби, показать, что люди находятся с обеих сторон , нет добра и зла. НО, в самом начале повествования Эбби убивает персонажа, С которым мы так свыклись, которому сопереживали, и после этого всеми средствами нас уговаривают, нам показывают, что вот его убийца вприцнипе не такой уж и злой, да и вообще вот вы ее друзей убиваете, тогда чем вы лучше ? Почему нельзя было просто отпустить и насладиться жизнью с Томми, Джесси, Диной и своими остальными знакомыми/друзьями? Тогда вопрос аналогичный можно задать и Эбби, разве нет ? Какие бы ни были аргументы за данного персонажа и как бы нас не убеждали - нет. Это не сближает нас, игроков, с человеком, который убил Джоела изуверски, Джесси. Нет, нельзя сопереживать этому человеку, я не могу понять его осознать. Она убила симпатичных мне персонажей и что, что вот она такая же как все, у неё своя жизнь, у неё погиб отец из за Джоела. Это не заполняет чашу равновесия на весах той боли, что она причиняет не только Элли, но и конкретно нам игрокам. И то, что Элли отказывается ее убить в конце - сюжетный промах, который мог бы вытянуть историю. Довершить мест Элли, даже превратив ее в монстра. Снова происходит то, чего не ждут игроки: в первой части мы все хотим спасти мир доставить Элли и вакцину выработать - но в итоге Джоел убивает всех и спасает Элли. Сейчас же мы все дорогу хотим мести и не получаем ее. Одинаковый сюжетный трюк дважды провернуть не удалось, и если бы наоборот Элли убила, отомстила - это смотрелось бы более уместно и более непредсказуемо. Мы бы получили ужасное будущее для девушки, что было бы куда интереснее. Как бы мне не оправдывали поступки Эбби, они ужасны и не вытянут ее человечность.     Am about 8 hours in I think and it's pretty good! Sony can sell consoles on this title, again I haven't finished it yet but the game mechanics, graphics, and the story-line (SO FAR) are amazing! Naughty Dog absolutely nailed it imo-

From its amazing heartwarming flashbacks to its most intense gruesome moments it ends it amazingly and makes me want more. The story in this game makes me want to keep playing. I love the characters, even though I didn’t like Abby at first since she killed Joel. Once I started playing as her I started to like her more and more. She is such a caring person helping Lev and Yara throughout the last’s parts of you playing as her really shows on how good of a person she is.

    Ellie has evolved so much during this game and the first. From wanting revenge for Abby killing Joel to accepting that Abby deserves to live. Ellie and Joel have had a complicated relationship ever since the end of the first game but it seems that she starts to warm up with him more but does have some bumps in the road when Joel tells her what actually happened.

    This game overall has some of the best gameplay and graphics I have ever seen. Some of the moments in this game will stick with me. Some of the environments in this game are so beautiful. Going to the farm and finding out Dina and tommy lived and seeing that Dina was able to have her baby made me the happiest person in the world. When Ellie and JJ went and sat on the tractor and looked out into the horizon I ain’t gonna lie I cried a bit.

    But this game is worthy of the title and probably better than the first game. Even though I finished it in around 18 hours I loved 98% of the game. 10/10 masterpiece and worthy of the title of game of the year.    … Expand

I would advise you to buy the game despite the low ratings and to feel all this yourself. I feel sorry for the developers of the game. So much labor and time is invested in this project.

    O jogo é simplesmente incrível, não só mecanicamente mas o enredo énmuito envolvente e te faz sentir na pele tudo o que os personagens sentem. Tudo faz sentido quando se termina o jogo. Excelente.

    This is coming from my own personal opinion. If no one respects it, then it proves what kind of person you are. As a fan of the first title, the story to this game is, once again in my opinion, very good. I understand why people didn't like the story and I'm not going to say why. Combat, animations, graphics and music to the game are really well done. I respect the people who hate it, butThis is coming from my own personal opinion.     This is a game really complex with mixed feelings. You have to deal with characters ties, emotions so deep constructed at the first game falling apart.
    It's a game about the journey, just like the first one.     Hear not those who say it's just about that or that its story goes around gender or sexuality, this game IS NOT ABOUT THAT, although it has this elements as a complement.
    I'd like to say its a true journey of duality, as life, there's no wrong at vision of each side and yet, both are deliberately wrong in some way. You will have a sweet bit at some moments and others not so sweet, but in the end it's all about the development through the journey. just like life, you try to get the best of you and sometimes you misjudge actions, choices, people.
    This is a GREAT closure for the history of Joel and Ellie, individually and both together. Not the one I wanted after all those years waiting, but the one I really should get. The ending that I believe is possible and true to the nature of the game world.    … Expand

    The fact you play as Abby for half the game is understandable and that brings the story to how it ended and explains the choices made.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
