    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Story: While this game's story doesn't live up to the original, a feat that honestly isn't possible, it still is extremely strong. The main issue being that we are given too many character arcs to be able to empathize with all at once. By the end of the characters' journeys, and witnessing the destruction they have cause I was left feeling empty, but not in a bad way. I do not understand the negative reviews one bit, the characters people dislike are actually the strong point of the game and are morally superior to the characters from the original. There is one horrible love triangle and adult scene that shouldn't have been included and felt entirely like a trope.

    Gameplay: Once I got the hang of the aggressive stealth combat, I felt this game was top tier. It's a giant step up from the previous game and many other AAA stealth games I've played. The pacing is a bit off due to all the scavenging and there are a few too many encounters that don't service the story, but I'd still give it a 9 or 10/10

    Graphics/Musical Score: 10/10 enough said.

It allows to learn the story from different perspectives and leaves your morality the question who the baddies are. The graphics along with the art style are simply astounding. The exploration brings variation to the game and rewards you adequately. The combat is satisfying and character design lets you learn the personalities of your companions. Not to mention all those little details like gorgeous weapon upgrading animations or interesting environmental riddles. And so glad they involved some often overlooked LGBT characters.… Expand

The characters are well rounded, and what feels different to Part 1 is that you are not allowed to have only one perspective- you're forced to question the morality and the aims of the characters- which honest to god was an interesting part of the gameplay. It didn't feel like I was the good guy and o had to shoot people because I was good. It's nuanced gameplay and I'd recommend it if you have an affinity towards cinematic games that fully flesh out their characters and their motivations.… Expand

But the themes and ambitious writing have forced me to contemplate and come to grips with the story it told. It is not a feel good story, but a story that is dark and harrowing, much like the world of the Last of Us. There are some parts of the story that do seem rushed or poorly put together however that does not take away from the experience as a whole. Playing as Abby forces the player to see the other side, which is something that is not often done in media. Too often we are presented a story with clearly established heroes and villains, completely ignoring the real world where everything is a shade of gray. No one person is all good, just as no one person is all bad. The gameplay is brutal and horrific, which is perfect for the game and can even be very challenging on higher difficulties. Overall the game is not for everyone, but it is an incredible work of art and fiction worth checking out.… Expand

    I just loved the game. I can understand that much people can't get to it but for me it worked very well. The storytelling is really uncommon. Most time you feel just uncomfortable but I think this is the way it should be and how this story works.

I have no problem to pay 60 bucks for a game 15hrs long if it is funny. I have a lot of problem to play for others 15 hrs. something that is boring. Anyway the story is so great that pass over the gameplay problem but it is a shame that the developers had to put so many filler encounters to reach the 30 hrs gameplay to lure people that use $/hr as a meter of quality.     Having finished the game, I am thankful for having avoided the spoilers and finish this game with an open mindset. This game is a masterpiece. It just is. Naughy dog are masters of storytelling.

    The games story is very well written. It’s a little long but the overall story is meant to have you unable to pick a side and to realize revenge and violence is a never ending cycle. There is no right or wrong and no side is the right side. Even the hero in someone else’s story can be the villain in another. Well written story

    I'm so proud of Druckman's Direction, proud of the compositors, editors, concept artists, designers...and all the people behind this amazing project.
    I hope they're not gonna give importance to sterile and unsense comments of people that probably doesn't understood the meaning of the whole adventure, just criticizing ignorantly about "plot-holes" or "this character had not to to act like this, this was like this gne gne gne!"... ****
    I'm not giving 10 cause of things/mechanics in game limited not by the deveopers but the hardware capacity of actual generation consoles (fire/explosions range for example).

    I honestly enjoyed the game, because I did not read any spoilers or reviews. Therefore I didn’t had an already made up mind about this game.     the last of us part II has the best graphics and set-pieces (without forgeting the physics) for real, looks like real life. the characters modeling its just... surreal.
    now the story, the point that matters the most. the story, in my point of view, its AMAZING. so many things that are in a certain way hidden, left for you to interpret. they had to kill joel, how could he get away with the things he did in the first game? dont get me wrong, i love joel, but your actions have consequences, and thats one of the main masseges that the game send to you. ellie doesnt kill abby in the last moments of the game because she saw joel in her. come on, cant you see it? joel was taking care of ellie, a girl who knew nothinh about the world and aways saw the good inside him.
    abby is taking care of lev, a boy that knows nothing about the world and always see the best in abby! thats the type of plot you have in the game.and you thing ellie or abby got away with everything? they didnt. abby lost ALL of her friends, yara and even the group she was part of. ellie lost her girlfriend and her "son", and her fingers, which means that now she cant play the guittar, the only thing joel left for her.    … Expand

I wasn’t sure how the developers of the game would live up to the hype of the original, but they exceeded my expectations. I’m leaving a 9/10 just because 10/10 is reserved only for the original. Joel could have saved the world in the first game. But did not due to his selfish actions then lied to Ellie for years about what he did in that room.Yes Joel is a great character but he only lived long enough to see himself become the villian. Now should Joel have died a different way? Maybe, but he had it coming.Playing as Abby may seem boring but its crucial to the plot. Lastly those who wanted revenge with Ellie after 20+hours and are disappointed,didn't see the main message in the story.in this game just like in the last game you do not fulfill the main objective. Abby just like Ellie have now lost everything after days of fighting and searching. When the final battle comes up there is no reason to fight anymore. Everyone is tired,hurt,emotionally and physically distraught. Ellie then chooses to forgive Abby. Which is what this game was going for. Forgiveness NOT revenge. Please don't hate at first sight. Beat the game let it sit and think a little its definitely worth it.… Expand

    Graphically one of the best games I've played. I enjoy the gameplay and really don't find it that outdated, it's fun. The story I would say is fine, I understood what they were trying to do and I liked it, although I do wish they took a different direction I can't complain because I still loved the game.

    A masterpiece of emotional storytelling and character development. It's dark, and at times hurtful. However, it takes a great deal of skill to evoke such an emotional response toward fictional characters and scenarios, and in that way, The Last of Us Part 2 is an incredibly powerful piece of art worthy of my highest praises.

    The controversial second installment to the Last of Us is not without it's drawbacks. Gameplay is excellent, the acting is amazing, the music and visuals are breathtaking. The story is engaging but heartbreaking. It trades character development for a focus on narrative themes. It's a story that asks you to empathize with the antagonist rarely seen in other stories. It's a story of a woman who learns to forgive herself, albeit a bit too late.

    I'd recommend playing through and choosing for yourself what you think. The lack of character development is noticeable and frustrating. But I think it still works for the overall themes of the game.    … Expand

Если вы прошли только 2 часа игры и сразу же побежали ставить плохие оценки этой игре то мне вас жаль, многие такие люди объяняют причину плохого сюжета иза того что убили Джоэла таким образом, я понимаю вас, но подумайте Джоэл в прошлом очень плохой человек, он убил много людей а так же лешил всех людей вакцины, и ещё к тому же убил отца Эбби, ну и поэтому Эбби убила Джоэла.     Definitely an amazing game I don’t understand the poor reviews about the story. I felt it hit the points the directors were trying to hit where you saw both sides of revenge and how it’s not always a good thing. The improvements on gameplay also felt well done along with more simple and easier crafting also the focus on exploring the open world was great to me as well.

Lo siento no sé si soy buena o mala persona, pero la muerte de Joel me afectó muchísimo. No sé si alguien mas pensará como yo, pero este juego es tan subjetivo. Сюжет ругают за ЛГБТ-пропаганду (которой гораздо меньше, чем во многих других современных играх) и слив главных героев прошлой части. Как человек, который проходил первую часть, могу сказать , что сюжет второй не так уж и плох. Да, он мог бы быть лучше, но он точно не слит полностью и не на 0/10(это просто смешно). Просто удивительно, как обычная игра смогла породить столько хейта и шума вокруг себя. Не жалею о потраченных деньгах, я получил огромное удовольствие от прохождения. This game may receive a lot of hate from its fans, and to be honest I was very angry myself seeing a character I love so much and have such a deep attachment to receive such a horrible fate. But being the big TLOU fan I am I needed to see how Ellie’s story unfolded despite how sad I was. After completing the game I can safely say with all my heart that this game is a masterpiece and I would give a score above ten if I could. If you’re a TLOU fan, please give this game a chance. It will not disappoint in the slightest. The immersion and emotions you feel while playing this game is beyond anything I’ve ever experienced from any other game I’ve played.     I would have eliminated 4 or 5 hours of unnecessary gameplay, but the narrative, gameplay mechanics, graphics... are breathtaking.
    I seriously can't understand the problems with the narrative, the caracteres are human 'till the bone, the development of these is great... Dark and raw. Real.
    Without a doubt, the game should have gone on sale years later.

    Incredible game. Thought it looked brilliant, played brilliant and the story was brilliant. Nearly had a nervous breakdown on about 5 occasions.

However, I gotta I admit I had to take a break in order to play Abby’s part, because I was really angry when I finished Ellie’s part. Геймплей игры довольно интересный, хотя через несколько часов может наскучить его однообразие. Про графику нечего говорить кроме того что она бесподобна. The Last of Us: Part II определённо одна из самых красивых игры и самая детализированная. Сюжет в игре нельзя назвать шедевром, но и плохим его назвать язык не поворачивается, так как в игре очень сильно и правильно показывают последствия действий главных героев, и то как они с этим справляются, нам показывают как жажда мести может изменить человека до неузнаваемости. Показывают что насилие это вовсе не выход и свои проблемы этим не решить. Говорить про сюжет и разбирать его можно долго. Эта игра определённо пока что лучшая игра годаи достойное продолжение первой части.

In my opinion Dina was just an added character so there could be a love interest, she doesn't have any backstory or anything to make you genuinely care about her, and honestly I cared about Manny more.     To call it a game is to underestimate the whole endeavor - this is an experience, a piece of art and an emotional rollercoaster that left me heartbroken for days after the ending (and thats a good thing).
    Druckman had a vision and he wanted to share it without compromises and hesitation and I'm so glad Sony let him do it. He wanted to show how a dark world helped to create a dark side in characters. it wasn't supposed to be a happy story for Joel and Ellie. It wasn't supposed to be a streamlined continuation of the first game. It was supposed to be real and messy. And it was. Very real and very, very messy.
    This ride is so much more than a typical revenge story. Not many revenge tales succeed in diving deep inside the protagonist psyche and show how awful the loss of control and judgement can be.

    The addition of Abby. I didn't like it. At first. I'm glad they did it. Second only to the realness of Ellie's descent toward madness, a glimpse on the life on motivation of the "antagonist" (just another person trying to survive in crazy world) made the whole thing even harder to accept and process.

    This is not a game for people looking for a wholesome, happy story of people living together and overcoming hardness. This is not a game for people who can not accept that bad sh*t can and sometimes will happen (in life and on screen). This is a game for people who want to dive inside a dark and gritty vision of a master storyteller. For people who understand that art can't be artistic without flaws and good plot can't and won't appeal to everyone.

    A true masterpiece.

    *gameplay is awesome, soundtrack is magical and immersive, side characters are believable (if not very interesting), the attention to details is insane, atmosphere is haunting at all times and the ending...

    The only problem is writing in some sections of the game.
    Some of the game parts are utter **** while most of the parts are amazing.
    Graphics are amazing for a PS4 game, and i'd like to see what enhancements they will do for the PS5's backwards compatibility (RayTracing?).
    I know this was a quick review, but i must say.

    I love every part of this game. The story and certain scenes have even transcended some award-winning movies I have ever watched. I couldn't believe there are so many brainless grudging folks simply slash a zero score mainly because the game made many brave yet groundbreaking attempts in its content. Thank you Naughty Dog, you are the best dream maker in the entertainment industry!

    Terrific! After 7 years of hard work Naughty Dog has represented an evolutionary game outstanding in every aspect. The bar has been elevated I don’t think I will like any other games after playing TLOU2 except for its sequel. Hopefully, we will have the luck to have part 3.

When I was forced to play as Abby I audibly said whilst alone in my room at about 4 AM, “I’m going to kill myself”. There are some of the best sequences of gameplay when the player is forced to play as Abby, yet I was pretty disinterested for most of the time. I spent essentially the whole time when forced to be Abby wanting to just be Ellie again. I don’t really love or hate the ending, but I honestly think the ending would have been more satisfying if Ellie either did not go out to find Abby again, or have her actually kill Abby.… Expand

Well worth the wait from the previous game, though leaves you numb at the end of the game. And the thought of playing it in permadeath mode gives me fear. Game play is like the first game but takes advances of the PS4/Pro. Enemie AI has improved and little details like the sound of glass breaking when you walk through it when it's on the floor, adds to the immersion. Yes it's understanding how the game is divisive because what happens at the start, but it very much continues and builds on the first game.… Expand

    “Bold story telling,” and great character perspectives. One of the best games I’ve ever played. I feel the user scores are down because a lot of people didn’t like the ending and some of the decisions made by the main character. Furthermore, there is a love story some may disagree with, but get over it...This game is a good one and worth the adventure.

    Awesome gameplay with terrible decision making. Druckman lied to us all and I cant come to terms with it. U never kill you know who, it makes no sense. Gameplay is a 10 but after that death it feels worthless to play. Make a 3rd game with ellie and Joel I dont know how you can do it but just do it Last of us is about joel and ellie.
