    Butt hurt baby who never got the cookie cutter black and white Joel and Ellie story they wanted and didn’t even decide to give it a chance. This game took risks and I love it and the team at naughty dog for that. They decided to tell a realistic grey morals tale in a world that fits. Everyone has done bad things and their are consequences for that. As much as I love Joel he has done some objectively awful things in his past and it only makes sense that one day the his actions would come back to haunt him. I truly believe this game needs to be seen until the end to fully appreciate naughty dogs masterful storytelling. THERE ARE NO HEROS IN A POST APOCALYPTIC SETTING!    … Expand

    Honestly, for me the game lived up to the hype of the first game and I absolutely loved it. It has some topics that are controversial but the game isn't forcing a political agenda, it was made this way to give the characters more depth and that is a beautiful quality of the story. У игры шикарный визуал, великолепная анимация и лучшая на данный момент анимация и мимика лиц в индустрии. Ну и сюжет, в котором надо думать, что наверное причиняет сильную боль, когда твой IQ балансирует между 70 и 80 баллами.Великолепное продолжение не менее великолепной первой части.     It is, however, unfortunate that so many people seem to not only disregard the game entirely but also any logical way of reviewing the game simply because they disliked one particular aspect of it.     It is, however, unfortunate that so many people seem to not only disregard the game entirely but also any logical way of reviewing the game simply because they disliked one particular aspect of it. Any reviews up to about 5/10 should simply be disregarded as the writer having a tantrum and not reviewing the game objectively in any way.

    To me, it is the story of a game that makes it worth playing. However, there must also be emphasis placed on other components of a game. So I will breakdown this review into the following categories and their weight on the overall review score:

    Story (both the actual story arc and then how this arc is executed) - 4
    Graphics - 2
    Sound design - 2
    Gameplay mechanics - 2
    Total - 10

    Story - 4/4
    The story arc of this game is, on the surface, relatively simple. You take control of Ellie (and a few others along the way), a 19 year old girl who finds herself seeming to be the only person immune to a deadly fungal infection. The majority of the game is spent in Seattle where Ellie is seeking revenge for the loss of a loved one. However, there is so much more to this story than simply revenge and the true beauty of this game lies in its journey and it's nuance. This is not a black and white game. There is no morally correct person, no hero character. This game is about dealing with loss and how that feeling can destroy a person and everything around them. You as the player will have to do some truly abhorrant things along your journey throughout this world. But by the end of the game, it is truly one of the most beautiful and remarkable pieces of story telling I have every experienced. However, there is one portion of the games execution which feels rough. During the middle area of the game the player is left with a cliff hanger. A cliff hanger that goes on for so long that I found myself desperately rushing the following 10 or so hours or gameplay just so I could find out what happened. I was terrified of the place I had been left in and it left a sour taste in the mouth for a good portion of the game. After completing the game it's entirely gone. I can appreciate what we were given and why, but it really hurt a large portion of my first play though. Perhaps the way the game was structured could have been altered so we only had a couple of hours or so before getting some resolution, I don't know. It is a minor issue and with hindsight does not justify dropping a full point. I would probably give 3.5/4 for story and 9.5 in total if I could but unfortunately here that is not an option so, 4/4 it is.

    Graphics - 2/2
    The graphics are quite simply extraordinary. This is truly one of the best looking games of our time. The locations and backdrops are truly breathtaking to look at and the character fidelity is stunning, if also, horrifying. Seeing the eyes of an unsuspecting victim roll upward as their choked on your relentless quest for revenge is something hard to forget. Violence is not glorified, but it is given a realistic representation through these details.

    Sound - 2/2
    The sound effects and music are incredibly well done. Hearing the shattering of a broken window and all it's pieces dropping to the ground or the ricocheing of bullets as the bounce around you sounds real. Enemies have a terrifying and recognisable sound to them. Guttural roars, howling whistles and perfect voice acting, all of which further embed the realism of the work you are inhabiting. The music follows the tone of the gameplay and story by providing calm release, serenading you through the astonishing moments of beauty you encounter, whilst adding an unprecedented and unbearable amount of tension during enemy encounters. The whine of a sound akin to a low siren becomes an ever present fear.

    Gameplay Mechanics 2/2
    The Last of Us 2 improves in every way, the gameplay of its predecessor. Character movement is fluid and realistic as you make seamless transitions between dodging and striking enemies, climbing over obstacles and stalking through the array of natural foliage that has taken of the world of Seattle. As you roll onto your back whilst prone so you can craft an item or fire an arrow at an enemy creeping up behind you. Speaking of which, enemies are well created and plentiful, in both quantity and variety. They will communicate to one another, flank you, and try to outsmart you. Dogs will whimper by the limp bodies of their handlers, humans will cry out the names of their friends as they find them fallen. Infected enemies will attack not only yourself but human AI and, in some cases, each other. There is so much more that could be written but alas...word limit.
    It's also worth there is a huge amount of accessibility controls included.

When i finished with Ellie in Seattle, having to play with Abby just bothered me, but throughout the game, the way of make her feel like a real person really entered me. If the game makes me love the "antagonist" i think that has to be called god tier writing somehow.. Really true masterpiece, you all must play this game.… Expand

    Loved it. It's an epic story about the futility of revenge, and it works. Pacing is maybe a little off at times, with some sections dragging on a bit too long, but that's about my only (minor) complaint. Graphics, sound, story and gameplay are all top notch and an improvement on the 1st TLOU in every department.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is better than the first one. Joel was a bad person, Ellie is a bad person, and (shockingly) Abby is a bad person. You can try to convince yourself that "That's just the world they live in, they do these things to survive", but you're just deluding yourself. When you look at both the original and Part II as one story, you carry out horrific acts in the name of your own self interest, with Joel probably being the worst of the three. This game isn't about Joel, but given the community response, you'd swear that you spend more than 90 seconds playing as him.
    Naughty Dog have given the player a chance to look at the idea of actions and consequences. You pulled a trigger in 2013, and the effect of that has finally come to fruition, but not as you would have liked. Just like Joel massacring a hospital full of people, Ellie's actions in Seattle had consequences, offered from the perspective that we as players rarely ever think about. The first couple of hours playing as Abby were frustrating, but the moment that sealed her story as it's own troubled journey was when you decide to go back for Yara and Lev. She wasn't acting out of the goodness of her heart, but trying to prove to herself that she was a good person, it was a self-serving act. Just like Joel "saving" Ellie, just like Ellie's acts of vengeance. By the end of this game, I wanted either both Ellie and Abby to live or both to die, because the pitiable state that their respective journeys leave them in doesn't make you feel like the hero you want to be at the end of a 30 hour game. You should feel the weight of your actions.
    Just to comment, I liked Joel, with every second of screen time in this game, he was allowed to grow, which is why he had to die. No matter how much you grow, the sins of the past have a way of catching up to you, it's just fortunate that he had enough of an impact on Ellie to keep her from following the same path that he took.    … Expand

    Have played the first game multiple times, heading into the second game I expected the same kind of gameplay and emotions. However I was surprised by the sudden change in story with the death of Joel, and I wanted to hunt and kill Abby, however then seeing abbys back story I was split in emotion. Further on, looking after Lev as Abby I wanted to see Abby and lev live on and find theHave played the first game multiple times, heading into the second game I expected the same kind of gameplay and emotions. However I was surprised by the sudden change in story with the death of Joel, and I wanted to hunt and kill Abby, however then seeing abbys back story I was split in emotion. Further on, looking after Lev as Abby I wanted to see Abby and lev live on and find the fireflies, however I also wanted Ellie to live in peace with Dina and their child, however Ellie still kept seeing Joels demise in her mind. And she believes to stop this she must then kill Abby, but when finding Abby and on the verge of killing her, she see's Joel before he died and in their final conversation. Then leaves Abby and Lev to find a new life in the fireflies after realising this won't fix her problem overcoming Joels death. The first half of the game I was unsatisfied by only the story, the second half fixed that for me. And finding out that Joel was in peace and relieved with how Ellie was ready to forgive him for saving her, left me with a sense of happiness for the characters. Overall I enjoyed the game and I feel like I could of enjoyed the story a bit more if Joels death wasn't as soon or brutal, and Ellie and Joel were on happier terms. Apart from that, visuals are amazing, gameplay is fun and rewarding.… Expand

    Excelent game with a raw, deep but mostly humane story. I don’t give it a 10 only for the lack of gameplay innovation, but it was still great. Enjoyed it a lot.

Although there were certain parts I wasn't happy with such as Abby's section because of how it strays to far from the main story for too long. However when taking in the rest of the game and Ellie's story, I found myself playing through intense situations that had my pulse pounding in such an exciting way. There are going to be moral choices made in the game that not everyone will be happy with, but I feel that this game is an absolute must play.… Expand

    I don’t understand why there are so many 0 scores here. This might not be a masterpiece or as good as part one. But this is definitely a fantastic game, game of the year imo. Lastly, I like Ellie and I like Abby too.

    El guión tienen "pequeños" huecos que afectan gravemente a la historia. Son muchas las decisiones que se toman en muy poco tiempo. Fuera de eso la    Es un gran juego por dónde se vea. Pero no es el juego perfecto de la primera entrega. Hay aspectos que podemos no tocar como jugabilidad, gráficos, soundtrack y escenarios. Son simplemente muy buenos y que tendrán nulos o pocos errores.

    En cuanto a publicidad nos venden un juego de venganza, y si la lleva, pero no hay un punto en el que se siente la venganza, es más un camino de redención, para los personajes principales, y para el jugador en general.

    Uma narrativa emocionante e comovente, fluida e muito bem justificada. A parte técnica é primorosa, a jogabilidade e o gameplay em si é muito bem feita. A história é chocante e impactante, os personagens são bem construídos e há contexto para tudo o que existe no jogo, todas atitudes, todos desdobramentos. É realmente uma obra prima. Uma pena tanta gente ter megativado a nota simplesmenteUma narrativa emocionante e comovente, fluida e muito bem justificada.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. People who are saying that the game is bad, clearly did not want to understand what the game brings, nor did they try to see what happens in the history of the game. I think who complains about the game took these points into account:
    -There is no right or wrong side, everyone is wrong
    -The relationship between Ellie and Dina is not super sexualized as many lgbt + relationships are portrayed in different media
    -The humanization of Abby not putting her as a villain but as an ordinary human being who has normal feelings just like Ellie
    -The clear leveling of Abby, with Ellie, because they both wanted revenge, what differs is that Abby had her revenge but it didn't change anything in her life, she didn't bring her father back, since Ellie realized that taking revenge I wouldn't bring Joel back and that revenge is empty.
    Honestly those who complain about the story clearly did not want to understand or play the game properly. And do not mask your homophobia with meaningless comments saying that the story has holes and is poorly developed, people who have not even played the game want to have an opinion, will play the last the entire us 2 and then give a note.     Very well written story. Never have i ever engaged more with a game and felt more emotionally tied to the main characters. I was aware of the leaks so was a bit apprehensive but i went in with an open mind and they have done a really good job with the story as i have grown to really love Abby as well now. Playing it multiple times have led to me seeing encounters i wasn't even aware off, and the foreshadowing for future events is really good. The use of Ellie's Journal for her thoughts is phenominal, especially after she kills Mel and is suffering. She questions her own motives, which is why the ending was fine for me - It was never ever purely about revenge. As heartbreaking as the ending was, I believe it was the nicest thing we could have had for Ellie. She lost so much, I needed an end to all her guilt and that is exactly what we got

    Drawbacks i have for it are that I would have preferred a nice balance between the two characters. Abby felt like fight after fight whilst Ellie was story after story. I would have loved to see some more fighting from Ellie's aspect, and some more story telling from Abby's. I wasn't really that emotionally invested in Owen, Mel or Nora so felt unaffected when Abby went back to seek revenge for them. (Maybe thats what N-dog wanted, idk but I would've preferred some more story telling for Abby there (especially with Owen).

    Also, there is no MULTIPLAYER. Very gutting. Plus so far there is no prospect for any DLC?!?!?!? I would have loved to see more about their life in Jackson, or some more about what Tommy and Joel got up to.

    I would like to have enjoyed to play with Ellie and Dina abit more. Their chemistry was fabulous.

    Overall, its a well thought out game. People hating on it for no reason imo and kudos to the ENTIRE naughty dog team. Even though people have mixed reviews about the game, there is no doubt about the hard work you done in making the environment, sounds, and accessibility.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Minha nota na vdd é 9.5, mas prefiro arredondar pra cima, pois o jogo é simplesmente MARAVILHOSO. Não dou um 10 perfeito porque o final (a partir do momento que a Abby é capturada) fica claro que a Naughty Dog apenas quis deixar mais 1-2hs de gameplay, pois acrescentaram um novo grupo que ninguém sabe nada, suas intenções, quem são e etc e isso é extremamente RUIM porque deixa um jogo tão maravilhoso com um aspecto falho de preguiça, pois poderiam talvez deixar para um possível próximo jogo ou aumentar mais o tempo desse jogo e explicar quem são, como a Abby tentou fugir e foi pega e etc... Contudo, não é algo que chega a estragar o jogo, por isso preferi arredondar para o 10 do que para o 9.… Expand

    If you play slow and take the time to explore everywhere it can take almost 30 hours to complete, on the switch side if you play through quickly it can take 20 hours or under.

    For me it took 26 with a blend of taling the time to explore certain areas. Let me start off by saying this game is absolutely beautiful! It's the most beautiful game I have ever played by far. The environments, level design, and character design is just through the roof!

    This game touched my emotional in a way that I can't explain.
    It's really amazing what Naughty Dog did with this franchise so loved by me and the rest of the fans. She had the courage to let someone come out of nowhere and kill Joel in such a brutal and sad way, and then, in the middle of the game, show the motivation of whoever killed him, in this case Abby.
    I'm sad about everything that happened to Ellie, she's my favorite character, I love her since the first game and even more in Part II, but her search for revenge, in the end, left her with nothing and alone. She simply lost everything she had, but because of herself.

    I don't understand how anyone might not have liked the game. Maybe it's because they still don't understand that it's not a game to make you happy or have fun, but a game to make you reflect and put an end to your emotional.
    Simply a work of art.

    Este jogo tocou meu emocional de uma maneira que não consigo explicar.
    É realmente incrível o que a Naughty Dog fez com essa franquia tão amada por mim e pelo resto dos fãs. Ela teve a coragem de deixar alguém aparecer do nada e matar Joel de uma maneira tão brutal e triste, e então, no meio do jogo, mostrar a motivação de quem o matou, neste caso Abby.
    Estou triste por tudo o que aconteceu com Ellie, ela é minha personagem favorita, eu a amo desde o primeiro jogo e ainda mais na Parte II, mas sua busca por vingança, no final, a deixou sem nada e sozinha. Ela simplesmente perdeu tudo o que tinha, mas por causa de si mesma.

    Eu não entendo como alguém pode não ter gostado do jogo. Talvez seja porque eles ainda não entendem que não é um jogo para fazer você feliz ou se divertir, mas um jogo para fazer você refletir e pôr um fim ao seu emocional.
    Simplesmente uma obra de arte.

I think that's a great statement even in real life. Its kinda disgusting that so many of you "FANBOYS/GIRLS" rate this game so much just because Joel died. Life is almost never a happy end, and that game shows that perfectly. As much as we all love Joel, he did terrible things , just like Ellie, they only cared about them selves and their loved ones. And if i read this bad reviews it pretty clear that their are almost no reasons explained why the game is "that bad", most of this bad reviews just say "the story is **** yes well but why is it **** and "the game is horrible" but why is it horrible. This kinda Fanboys/girls are no fans of this series from my point of view, they just wanted a "Last of Us" where Joel and Ellie survive together, maybe a new doc who can make a vaccine but gets killed....., i think u guys know what i mean. The game was a success, the developer tried something risky and i love that. Many characters died in this game but i think that's kinda normal in post apocalyptic world with zombies all over the place.     I won't go into too much about the history of the game, which by the way is sensational, I just say that it's not just about revenge or just killing, the game is much more complex than what people are talking about, because it's about people. Despite being heavy, it is extremely "fun" and good to play, and deals with important matters, whether you like it or not.

    Finally, it is not just a game, it is an experience where you understand and live together the feelings of the characters, much because of the incredible narrative and graphics. I finished the game but I'm still processing it.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. this game is **** amazing! it gets across the point the developers and writers were trying to achieve with the cycle of violence being broken through both ellie and abby (both in their own ways and along their own timeline). they way that each timeline intertwines is absolutely thrilling and such good attention to the way the game works, as well as the story overall. It’s incredibly captivating and takes the players on an emotional journey, which proves to be one of the best i’ve ever played, at the conclusion of the game when all the emotions rush back in and are re-emphasised. Many people may not like how the game ended because you spend this whole time fighting people only to not achieve what would be perceived as the main goal, and that is a valid thought, however if that’s all you take away from the game then i’m sorry but you fail to see what it really is trying to achieve because, like mentioned earlier, the goal was to END this cycle of violence. the ending proves to show ellie’s contempt nature and how she has come to terms with both hers actions and joel’s as she is finally able to move on from this hate and revenge and attempt to live a somewhat normal-we life to what she had been. Now back to joel’s death, yes i do think it could’ve been better detailed and more stretched out as he was such a beloved character, although i think his death overall shows his growth and how he acknowledges the wrongs he has done and he doesn’t really need anything more in his life because he was ok with how most things played out. So overall, i think it’s a really **** good game if your able to understand the depths, themes and emotions which are meant to be instilled and evoked. Solid work !… Expand

The one take-away I had was that combat was annoying, I like how enemies flank you, and get around you, but friendly AI will sometimes not react to such a flank, even if they're covering your back. This is a revenge story in the purest sense. The entire plot is to show how stupid and meaningless and destructive revenge is. How blind hatred for others will destroy everything. Ellie ends up alone because she couldn’t come to terms with her loss. Abby doesn’t want to fight at the end because she realizes that her getting revenge didn’t make her feel any better and cost her all of her friends as well. This game is absolutely incredible and I really really enjoyed this as the sequel to my previous favorite game ever. The graphics are astounding, the player movements are so realistic looking that sometimes you just want to move in weird ways to see the models follow, the game design is good with some new and interesting enemies and a wider playing area that allows a bit more of strategy. Overall I think Naughty Dog hit it out of the park.… Expand

I was so upset when Joel was killed, but after what he did in the first game, it’s believable that was his demise. The story was so good, Ellie was losing herself after losing Joel, and her rage was so real. And Abby- at first I hated her. But it did a really great job at making you feel for her, and why she was so determined to get to Joel. I ended up loving her by the end of the game. Plus, that boss fight in the hospital scared the crap out of me! I loved it! There’s just so much amazing stuff about this game. Like the way you upgraded your weapons, the graphics (phenomenal) and the story- 10/10 for me. The only complaint about the game I have was the ending, it just kinda fell a little flat. But it did a great job at showing what this need for revenge costed Ellie. I already played through it twice, I loved it!… Expand

This game is ahead of its time, far too ambitious. Therefore, my dear gamer brothers and sisters, please be more accepting towards innovation and bold steps because if we don’t, we will get the same formula games over and over again just like we did throughout this generation. Different franchises felt like re-skins this generation. Developers have run out of ideas. In such times, the last of us part II actually felt, trust me, like a breeze of fresh air, however bleak it may be. Accept this game for the love of gaming. This is nothing short of a masterpiece and then some. Best gameplay. It’s been a long time since I’ve played a game so responsive as the last of us part II. Playing it makes you whole. You will feel overwhelmed by the possibilities it presents during every possible encounter. Be yourself in this game. Make your own story through every encounter and share it with us online or with your friends. Secondly, best graphics. This game has crossed red dead redemption in terms of graphics and detail. Yes, I know these two aren’t comparable because one is an open-world and the other is a semi open-world but trust me when I say this, it is the best looking game this generation. The atmosphere doesn’t fall short in making you feel alone and miserable, as every enterable building or area has it’s own story. Reading the letters by those whose corpses have decomposed with those letters in their hands, tell stories that can make you feel like playing a side-quest at every possible location where such artefacts are found. The detail of this game needs much more appreciation. Lastly, the story, is controversial yet the message it gives is a life lesson which us, the young inexperienced people of this world will not understand and it is a known fact that we, humans, always get afraid of what we Don’t understand. You might not ‘get’ the story or you might not like it, but I’m sure you will understand it when you ponder upon it years after ‘surviving’. You will see what was taught to us through this game was true. And then The Last of Us Part II will be appreciated by each and everyone of you, I know. Please love the people who have given us this ‘change’. Love them because in this world where the world works on the basis of money, they dared to do something out of the box, which already is damaging them. Be happy that there are still such people that can dare to differ. Years from now on, this game will get all the praise that it deserves and then some. I know it. Trust me. Embrace this game. A morte de um ou outro personagem pode desagradar o jogador, mas os plottwists são inacreditáveis, você chora, se angustia, fica com raiva do roteirista. A história de The last of us 2 não é para te agradar, te fazer feliz. É clara a intenção do enredo de te incomodar, te fazer querer quebrar o console, para mostrar até onde o ódio e a vingança podem te levar.     Это было шикарное приключение, и крутые эмоции, не хотел чтобы оно заканчивалось, но увы
    Судя по концовке игры будет третья часть, не знаю нужна ли она, но спасибо разработчикам за этот шедевр по моему мнению

    A really great game with fun gameplay and a really great story that keeps you invested, but a disappointing ending the player has no say in that makes your lead character's quest feel entirely pointless.

    Naughty Dog said what they said. At least they make FIFA and COD every year for the people who genuinely couldn't handle it.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
