    With how much fake reviews litter this game. Come on, just look at how many bad reviews were submitted on June 19th?! The game took me 36 hours to complete and it honestly doesn't need a score. Because it made me feel emotional. For a video game to even evoke real emotions in me, that's art. Art is subjective, I know but these fake bad reviews are just there for an agenda.     Just finished the game, what an incredible story! These games, from the beginning of the first one to the end of the second are absolutely perfect. One of my favourite features is the moral ambiguity, no one here is good or bad but everyone is human. Absolutely brilliant.

    As a side note:
    I have currently played through part 2 once on the survivor difficulty and
    I have played part 1 multiple times, on grounded difficulty. I believe that playing these
    two parts on the hardest difficulty is way more impactful than on any easier difficulty, because
    you really feel like you are being screwed over in every part of the game. Not scavenging for
    supplies will make it hard or even close to impossible to win encounters before the game starts making the encounters easier because you died so often.

    Also, I have heard that there have been spoilers before the game was even released. I have never read, seen or heard any of these spoilers. I do not even undestand why people would look up these spoilers to then end up being dissatisfied by what the spoilers make you believe how the game is played or how the story will evolve. From what I can tell you, the game is definitely worth to play.

    My thoughts and score:
    The story is compelling and shows what murder and revenge does to people. I have read plenty reviews of people that dislike the game with such little unjustified arguments. I think some people even gave the game a 1/10 just because Joel died and they think he deserved 'better' and that Joel was acting 'out of character'. Also some people think the ending is **** however I am willing to explain why the ending is actually logical and fits with Ellie's character.

    Joel's death:
    Honestly, I think this was almost the only way for Joel to die. Yes, it was brutal but it sets the tone of the game. I have been thinking about how else you would have Joel died but I just could not think of any other reason. It would not have given the same drive for revenge the story gave now by the way his death is portrayed. Some people believe that the act of going with Abby to her friends is out of character, because Joel is always so cautious with these things. However you have to understand that they have been living happily for 4 years in Jackson. Nothing has shown that he should worry about going with someone, who they saved, to save themselves from infected. Maybe he just should not have said his name and it would have turned out different.

    Ellie's mercy:
    Its been quite a while since Abby and Ellie have seen each other, as you can see from how much muscle Abby has lost overtime. The moment Ellie starts the fight with Abby, I already knew she would not kill her. But why did she actually not kill her? Why did she not kill the one responsible for the death of Joel? I think you should take into account the states of both Ellie and Abby, and what
    has happened before. At the start, Owen stopped the others from killing Ellie. In the theater, Abby does not kill both Dina and Ellie because of Lev. At the final fight, Abby does not even want to fight Ellie at first but Ellie makes her. Then I thought, would you really kill someone, that let you live twice and whose state is already pretty bad? Would you really kill a helpless person? The answer is no. Ofcourse in the end the flashback of Joel is what makes her stop, but the flashback may be evoked by the acts of mercy from Abby. Honestly, I think if Abby was in much better shape, Ellie would have just put a bullet in her head and be done with it.

    Ending:
    In the ending you see Ellie return to the farm, which Dina left. Only Ellie's room still has her stuff in there. She plays the guitar and then leaves everything behind. I think she never returned to Jackson, but wants to start over somewhere else. Maybe even start looking for fireflies.
    First reason as to why she would do this is that she would have to tell Tommy she did not kill Abby, but let her go. Tommy would probably not have approved this decision. Ofcourse she could have lied, but she probably would not have been able to uphold the lie. Second reason is Dina. I do not
    think Dina would be able to forgive her for leaving her at the farm. Also I do not think Ellie would be able to live with the regrets she bears with her and the losses she made throughout the game. Revenge has only made everyone lose more throughout the story and may be a message to take from the game.

    Score:
    Gameplay score is 9.5. The gameplay was very good and the graphics were beautiful. Not a 10 because I think looting with Ellie was not rewarding enough, whereas safes were too rewarding, or there were just too many of them. Also dodging mechanic felt sometimes broken, as in too easy to dodge attacks. It never mattered which way you dodged as long as you dodged away from the attacker. As if you would get a short invulnerability time window.

    Story score is 8.5. Some decisions made by Ellie were questionable and Ellie's mercy to most people (excluding Abby) felt wrong. She should have just murderd them brutally or made them give her information in some way. Story of Abby made more sense in a logical way than the story of Ellie.

    True masterpiece. Exciting and very emotional story about the revenge. Both sides of the conflict are very developed. Highly recommend this game!

    Sem dúvida alguma o melhor jogo que já joguei na minha vida. TLOU 2 não é um entretimento comum, ele te envolve de uma maneira surreal. Você consegue sentir tudo o que a Ellie sente. Você sente amor, ódio, tristeza e esperança. Obrigada a todos os envolvidos por salvarem minha quarentena e ppr terem mudado a minha vida com esse game. Virei fã demais!

    A masterpiece. A tour de force comprised of this gen's best graphics, gameplay, acting, and story. Disclaimer: you probably won't like the story if you're a sociopath, which most of these Metacritic user reviewers sound like.

    Im so glad I avoided the leaks and was able to play and finish this game untainted by any outside influence. I thought it was an incredible experience from beginning to end. I recently played The Last of Us remake, so I was new to the series, and picked up my copy of the sequel when it came out. The gameplay, graphics, and yes even the story had me hooked. It was like playing Pulp Fiction, experiencing the story out of order and from different perspectives, I thought it was perfectly executed. And like Pulp Fiction, it’s not for everyone. I remember the mixed reviews that movie received when it first came out, but is now considered one of the greatest movies and put Quintin Tarantino on the map.     I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game. The connection between the brutality of the gameplay and the characterization present is one barely seen in games. The all inclusive casting makes this game special and very present and relatable. The developers should be commended for creating a narrative that is ambitious and daring.

    Brilliant game. If you were a fan of the first game you should love this. It expands on that and then some ,with spectacular graphics, performance capture. The stealth gameplay if you choose to play that way is brilliant with lots of options. The accessibility options they have provided to enable a great gaming experience for all types of players is up there with the best I’ve seen.

    It‘s a Masterpiece. Great Graphics, nice Game-play and a Story for adults. Yeah, it‘s hard to deal with the loss of somebody. But this game let you feel the pain of this world. And even if you don‘t like the story, then there is still this beautiful designed world with great phasing. In my opinion it‘s a must-have-played-game.

Eu achei fascinante o modo que eles ousaram experimentar algo totalmente novo em relação ao seu antecessor, matar o Joel foi definitivamente um grande peso que todos os jogadores ficaram impactados por ser um personagem muito adorado pelos fãs da franquia mas mesmo com essa decisão forte o jogo conseguiu oferecer tantas emoções que eu nunca senti em um jogo antes e isso é simplesmente incrivel, você começa odiando a abby e depois descobre que é possivel gostar dela mesmo sem perdoar ela por suas ações e isso te coloca dentro o universo do jogo fazendo você se sentir exatamente como a Ellie se sentiu com o joel salvando ela daquele hospital e tornando tudo aquilo que aconteceu mais real. Tudo nesse jogo me fascinou desde o começo, a história me prendia a cada segundo e cada cenário vai ficar eternizado em minhas memórias, a jogabilidade do jogo esta fantástica porque eu sentia que tudo ali era muito fluido e havia vários modos de passar por aquela fase sem ter que lutar, a Naughty Dog fez um trabalho incrível em cada aspecto desse jogo e atualmente estou com 30h de gameplay e jogando o new game+ para aproveitar ate que eles decidam lançar uma dlc um dia rs.… Expand

How much of your humanity are you willing to give up for your revenge? How much of your life will it consume? How much of yourself can you get back afterwards?

    The main message I took from the game in the end related to how you view your enemies. It's easy to paint someone as the villain in your own story, but if you look at things from their point of view, all they are is another person. Another human being trying to survive.

    Abby isnt the devil she appears to be at the start. She isnt some kind of saint. She's a deeply flawed person just trying to get by in a post apocalyptic world. Ellie is just the same.    … Expand

    That brings me to the recent controversy surrounding this game. As well as it's unjust and unwarranted review bombing. It makes me sick to see so much work, and effort being spat on, and hated by so many, for such a stupid reason. Even if you choose to dislike the title based on one narrative desition made early on in the game. You have to respect the effort, and love that Naughty Dog put into their game. So many poured everything they had into this title. To see it being treated like this is incredibly heartbreaking. If you're under the impression that this game is bad, based on the influx of negative reviews, I just want you to know. The game is wonderful and creates a world just as morbidly beautiful as the original. Do not let these unfounded reviews sway you away from this awesome experience.    … Expand

    The gameplay is 10/10 as I've never seen a game play so smooth in 30fps, it's mental! The story, unlike some people who didn't undestand it are saying, is a piece of art (10/10) , it teaches us values at the same time it plays with our feelings. What other game does that?? (The Last of Us "part 1" doesn't count*)

    It has its flaws. However it is just an incredible game with a really interesting narrative. It basically gets rid of the stupid hero and villain moral of every script in videogames. That's why people got tilt.

    I don't know what people are so mad about, sure the middle of the game is slow and the main antagonistic is not really fun to play as/care about but jeeez is the story and the ending amazing and deserves a 10/10 just for that, my favorite story driven game of all time. Please at least try the game for yourself... you won't regret it...

It’s easy to dehumanize your enemies and kill them without thought- it’s easy to seek revenge and live in hate. It’s harder to let go and forgive. Both sides of the story were done beautifully and by the last major fight scene I was so torn and upset— I didn’t want to lose anyone and I saw each’s motivations.     IMO the story isn't as bad as they say, its just that the pacing made it exhausting to play. The gameplay was fantastic though. Greatly improved fromthe firstgame. Animations for the characters' actions and transitions were smooth as heck.

    I don't usually rate games, but the low scoring and backlash that this game has received upon release is unwarranted and a disservice to a great game. After playing it a second time through, I perhaps like if even more than the first game. As a fan, I found it to be the perfect continuation of the original story.

    I bought this day one as I liked the first one. This is even better and I have absolutely no regrets. It is a wonderful game and without doubt would recommend this as a must play. Yes I did read some of the negative reviews and you should just ignore it. I took my time and spend almost 40 hours playing through the game. Also died a lot!

    The story is intense and not always going where you want it to go. This is not a bad thing. I even caught myself yelling at Ellie for making a stupid decision. In the first game we already learned that Ellie is a strong independent girl, now she is a strong young women and so is most of the women you will meet on your journey. They grew up in this harsh and unforgiving world and killing is part of survival.
    Playing different characters was an eye opener to me as it forced me to look at things from a different perspective. It was not always comfortable, but very necessary. Better story than most movies.

I both loved and hated every second of it equally.     incredible. no other developer would have had the guts to do what naughty dog did and they never will. yes they lost a large margin of sales and fans because of many devisive choises. but thats the price for aiming to do sth different and special. was it enjoyable? no. would i change a single thing about it?absolutely not. incredible game. incredible design. incredible acting.

I love that, i was so emotionally invested that I was stopped in my tracks by the brilliance of it all. The graphics, the game play, the music, the characters... All amazing.

    or you stopped playing it after a certain scene about an hour or 2 into the game I say this... Grow the **** up. You are a gamer and you are not entitled to the story or game that you expect it to be. You get what the studio creates and you either enjoy it or you don't.

    If you do not like the game then don't be a complete fool and join in on the tirade of insults, death threats, racism and disgusting acts of many people on social media. To the people who do join in and send horrible things to people get a ****ing life and go back to playing COD where you can kill all day long and beat one off to the 4 kill streak you got.

    The Last of Us Part II is no masterpiece but to me it was an experience I will not soon forget.

Most people that give this game a negative review are people that are upset about Joel dying in the game and lose track of the story the game is trying to tell. It's a complex story about a hard and inhumane world. People die for no reason and people that deserve to die stay alive . But that's life. The game does a great job and showing Ellie's struggle with regret, anger, loss, love and losing and regaining her humanity. Over the course of the game you see Ellie go down a dark path of revenge and losing a part of her humanity along the way. I admit that originally I was upset as playing as Abby. I felt as if I was being forced to like her and justify her murdering Joel. But as I was playing I realised that Abby and Ellie are going through the same struggles and problems. The game isn't trying to tell you what is right or wrong it's telling you that its about perspective and to draw your own conclusions. There are a few slow scene's and moments that bugged me at the time of playing it but looking back to it and still processing everything that happened day's later I've totally forgotten about those moments. This a a game you play for 20 hours and process for another 30… Expand

    I really liked the game. It's an interesting story that's well written. It looks amazing and the game-play is tighter and more fun than the original. The vitriol the game is receiving is undeserved and laughable. It's amazing how so many people completed the game on the day of it's release only to give it a 0 (It took me 30 hours).
    The game is a little too long however, hence the 9.

    Brilliant game and story that is deliberate in its divisiveness. The anger towards it is representative of the game’s themes of ego, grief and obsession and a lot of people simply aren’t able to come to terms with not getting exactly what they wanted/expected.

    Fantastic game; best looking ps4 game hands down. Music is phenomenal. Gameplay is fun and works well- better than the first game. Story is great. Intense but great. Well done Naughty Dog. Thank you for making this.

Literally I can't expect the PS4, a console from the old-world to able to handle such beautiful graphics. I played the game in a PS4 Pro and the game run smoothly. The grass, the sea and oh my god the facial expressions. I am not an expert on sound/music/soundfx so I won't vote for that... although A-ha's Take on Me was a beautiful addition to the game. Now the story... nah not yet let's talk about the GAMEPLAY. I see people complain about the AI... well I don't agree. Movements are unpredictable and if you play in stealth all the time you can actual feel the thrill and the horror while you pass enemies undetected. Alternatively, you can try your luck with your one pistol bullet and your two arrows. Enemies will attack you from the most unexpected angles, if someone is shooting at you from a close distance you won't be able to reach him, and the big guys require two headshots (??) oops... not very realistic but let's play the ‘it’s just a game’ card. Now the let’s discuss the story. I believe most people don't have Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005). The good guy, father figure Joel dies... well let’s face it he was a piece of sh1t for some others, doomed humanity and he was a killer. He was a survivor and naughty dog had the guts to remove his plot armour because sometimes you can't be too careful and sometimes you die. He did his worst, he tried his best, now it's time for him to rest. Whoever is reading this review I would like you to know that I loved the Joel character and if I was him I would probably followed the same road of decisions... doesn't mean I/he was right. But let's don't talk about Joel anymore as he is not the main character. Ellie - is this the little girl from the first last of us? Not really. Ellie doesn't want to be left alone, Ellie cares for her friends. When I was five, I liked carrots, today I f hate them. People change and as the French say revenge is a dish best served cold. It's a meaningless path that consumes the little left of humanity left in you. Abbie did the same thing when all her friends were killed - the reason they died wasn't because of Ellie it was for Abbie's need of revenge and damn, it costed. Both characters did terrible things, in the end, they’ve decided that revenge was meaningless… and it was too late. They lost everything. How can you hate a story like that? The simple answer is that you wanted a happy ending, ending with closure and a righteous main character that never makes mistakes. I can accept that but don’t call the story terrible. Say something like ‘Not quite my tempo’ – Whiplash (2014)… Expand

    i would say ND really did incredible job for Part 2. The story very dark and i love how the storytelling twists the audience's feeling. The narration of the story really psychologically tortured to the main characters. i feel both ellie and abby's pain and glad how the game ended. gameplay, grafic and sound are one of the best i ever experienced so far. well done!!

    The Last of Us Part 2 is an awesome game that makes you wonder if it’s worth taking revenge at all. What is only a soundtrack when you go through a location, or watch a scene.
    The plot of the game is excellent. The gameplay of the game is excellent.

The parallels in this game and the attention to detail in this story are absolutely amazing! People have such closed minds and wanted it to be exactly like the first.     Es un gran título, me encantó el apartado gráfico y el gameplay fue increíble, la evolución de Elie como persona también me gustó, sin embargo creo que el problema fue meter a Abby de la nada y que mate a Joel (digo no esta mal que halla muero Joel sino como fue su muerte) y de la nada querer que empaticemos con ella forzosamente. Por eso mi calificación fue 9.

    Creo que el juego a estado muy a la altura del primero. Un guión que ha dado varios giros totalmente inesperados y que te quiere enseñar a madurar y empatizar con todos los personajes. En una guerra no hay buenos ni malos, solo perdidas y el odio no te lleva a buen puerto.

    The unfolding of history sometimes forces us to do things we don't want to.
    I literally let go of the controller and wanted to stop playing the last battle. It was a mixture of sadness, disappointment, swallowing tears, but the curiosity to know what awaited those beings that I loved so much, made me continue. My girlfriend cried horrors! Feelings I've never experienced so strongly in a game, but sometimes in movies.

    That inability to control the personalities of the characters we love. How many times do we curse them... apart from so many others that we are heartbroken with sadness. Rare are the moments of joy and warmth... This is the world we experience here. What a mix of sensations. Great!

    The cruelty of the world of TLOU can only be assimilated by those who allow it to be felt through the characters. That's right, undress your beliefs, they didn't guide you here.

    I saw so many negative reviews, criticizing the developers' decision to force the player to see both sides of the coin... "Dude!" - As Ellie would say - "**** up all of them".
    They didn't realize the wit of the script. In the second part of the game, literally, you have to collect coins. And we can't rotate them, we only see one side! Hello?? Didn't get the reference?
    It's not about loving or hating a character.

    This game is not about you!
    An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and we're all going to the grave.
    The epic ending to a story as traumatic as life itself.

    Thanks to the creators! I can't wait for the HBO series!

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
