    This game is great, it has improved a lot from the previous installment. It has amazing graphics with improved combat. You can argue that the story is weaker than it was in the last one but it’s much up to personal preference. You can say that the story is weak but you can’t deny that it is well acted and it’s very emotional game.     I think this game is amazing, the map is gigantic, there's plenty of action, drama, plays like a really long movie. I liked it a lot. Kudos to every person that worked in this game, it's a job well done from all of you.

    I don't get the hate the game gets for the "SJW agenda" stuff. Is the main Charakter lesbian? Yes. Is the main antagonist a muscular women? Yes. I just don't get why that is a problem. Do all you haters really want the same Standard male hero male antagonist story for the rest of your life? Well for me this game is a Masterpiece.

    About the game, I only played 3 hours but I'm already loving it! Graphics are amazing like uncharted 4 The attention to details, the sounds, the soundtrack are superb.     I didn't look at any review before finishing this game so this is my honest opinion. Also, my real score for the game is 9.5. Graphics are amazing. Music is good but not as good as the first one. Story is great too but the order of way that they told the story was the weak part. Gameplay is great too but it can get repetitive sometimes. Overall I highly recommend the game.

    I just wanted to respond to all the people review bombing the game, I understand you didn't get the story you wanted. But it wasn't your story to tell in the first place. You're just a passenger. And giving a 0 to a technical/acting masterpiece just because you didn't get what you wanted is just plain stupid, be at least honest with yourself.

    Furthermore the first game lived in a morally grey area from the get go. If you ever thought Joel and Ellie were "good guys" you clearly have no idea what TLOU1 was about, and I kinda feel sorry for you.

    Also sexuality and woke themes aren't pushed in the slightest during the game so whoever still bring that up clearly have not played the game and just hopped on some hate bandwagon for the sake of being a miserable sad human being.

    I enjoyed every second of this game, even tho it's not a "fun" game, it's a game that pushes you to understand complex feeling, feeling you are forced to embrace even if you didn't want to, but that are never gratuitous or out of context. It's a mature game, and clearly there are a lot of gamers out there that do not have such maturity to even grasp the basic elements of it.

    This game is also not perfect and I would have liked a couple gameplay additions like a way to recall the horse or an attack from above tomb raider style.

    In the end I would give it a solid 9. But I will give it a 10 to make up for the embarrassment the hateful and ignorant part of the gaming community has brought to the table.    … Expand

    Don't listen to all of the butthurt haters review bombing this game. First of all the gameplay is clearly better than the predecessor even though people keep saying it's outdated. Sure it could use some refinement here and there but it's pretty solid as it is.     This game is marvelous when it comes to combat and gameplay mechanics and I wouldn't say it's better than its predecessor but it sure does have its own kicks!! Love the game

    The game affects the feeling of WHO REALLY PLAYED from beginning to end. This is beautiful, as it will impact each person in a unique way. So many details in perfectly done places, varied facial expressions and a very rich world. Of course, there are slips in the story (the game that you don't have, that throws the first stone) and maybe even a little sloppiness with a character, but IThe game affects the feeling of WHO REALLY PLAYED from beginning to end. This is beautiful, as it will impact each person in a unique way. So many details in perfectly done places, varied facial expressions and a very rich world. The issue of homosexuality, so criticized by many, I see no problem, perhaps the person is TOO conservative or too prejudiced. As I said, this game will affect each person in a unique way, and I think it is too wrong to generalize in a negative way, and this applies to the end of the game, because I learned that there will always be several sides of the same situation, that is, maybe yours truth is not really the truth.     I love this game on so many levels. The longer time passes to think about it, the more I like it. As I was playing, it was definitely difficult to see what the characters went through. But I love the way it stands for empathy and understanding others point of view. I was extremely sad to see my favorite character die, but I understand it is a zombie apocalypse video game and Life isI love this game on so many levels.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The hate for this game is extremely unwarranted. I guarantee that most of the people hating on this game haven't even played it. And if they did, they wouldn't give it a chance. This has been my most anticipated game ever. The first one is my 2nd favorite game of all time but i genuinely think that this game is better. The story is better, the gameplay is leaps and bounds better and the characters are better. We barely know these new characters but I cared about them as if they were my real friends.
    The relationship between Dina and Ellie is everrrything. They have so much chemistry together. Even the relationship between Owen and Abby was very well done. And let me just say this. The fact that I cared about Abby after she did what she did is crazy. The writing for this game is just insanely good.
    The ending for this game is great. From Abby and Ellies fight scene all the way to Ellie walking away from the country house leaving her guitar there is masterful. So much to unwrap with this game. One of my favorite things about this game is the overall lesson. Don't let revenge consume you. Revenge is a big thing in this game. Abby got revenge for her father and that caused all of her friends to die and for her and her new friend to almost die. Ellie wanted to get revenge for Joel and she lost Jesse, her fingers, and almost Tommy, Dina and her life. She DID try to let it go but she kept remember Joel dying and developed PTSD over it so to put those nightmares to bed, she decided to go get that revenge and even that almost killed her. Ellie thankfully didnt go through with killing Abby and i think that was a good move. Even though Abby deserved it in Ellies eyes, she let her go.
    I also really like that this game shows that Joel was the real bad guy all along. Never thought that I would think of him as a bad guy but this game did it.


    This game uses flashbacks perfectly. I don't usually like flashbacks in my movies, games or what have you. It always feels like padding but here, it has a meaning and feels necessary to the plot. The last flashback we got..oopph what a tear jerker man.


    When Joel sang that song to Ellie in the beginning "If I were to ever lose you, I'd surely lose myself." That right there pretty much summarizes the game. Ellie lost herself. I love that little bit. The graphics are pretty great. The only con I have with them is that Owen didnt look as good as the others.


    Don't listen to the haters for this game. They just can't get over the death of Joel and completely write off the entire game cuz of it. They just wanted the same exact game as the first one. And to you homophobes out there that think just because theres a gay character in a game it means they're automatically pushing the agenda. **** you. Grow up. This **** should be looked at as normal. You are whats wrong with the world. Graphics- 9.5/10

    I very much loved this game and I think if you get the binky out of your mouth and give this game a chance, go into it with an open mind and look at the game from a story perspective, you would love this game just as much as me.

This has not disapointed me at all, it’s made me cry and made me laugh in some parts, this is a masterpiece and the creators should be proud. The voice acting is incredible and the graphics have blown me away!     Naughty Dog nails it, it's a wonderful game. If the first was about losing and then finding yourself in love, this one is about finding and losing yourself in hate. A bittersweet story of a spiral of revenge that goes on and on, losing it's own motives on the way. Nothing is written in black and white, all characters are gray: clearly developers wanted us to feel like someone's antagonist,Naughty Dog nails it, it's a wonderful game. If the first was about losing and then finding yourself in love, this one is about finding and losing yourself in hate. A bittersweet story of a spiral of revenge that goes on and on, losing it's own motives on the way. Nothing is written in black and white, all characters are gray: clearly developers wanted us to feel like someone's antagonist, and that's the core. Enemies scream for their loved ones who you just murdered and we start to question if we're right. Beautifuly done in my opinion, that's the kind of story we keep thinking about later. In a world full of games we choose how the plot goes it's wonderful how in this one not having a choice is a narrative choice wich tells a lot about the characters.

    Later in game we play as another character that's not Ellie. Very courageous choice from Naughty Dog, and though I loved this character I think most of people who will dislike the game will come from here. The only downside of the game in my opinion it's that sometimes this part seems like a fetch quest: go here, go there. Everytime you go here or there something important does happen, but I think the wandering in this part could be a little shorter. And that's the only reason it's not a perfect ten for me, the rest is absolutely amazing.

    Beautiful graphics, amazing gameplay. Environments are stunning, from huge open areas to narrow and dangerous passages, from destroyed cities with collapsed builinds to small abandoned towns. Two new kinds of infected and a huge improvement in AI. Different groups of enemies behave different to you. In my first run it took me almost 23 hours to finish in the easiest difficult. For a linear game, that's a huge story arc.

    Most people who are giving bad reviews didn't even play the damn game. Most say something about the trans character and the muscular lady. They are different characters, so from here you can say a lot about what's happening.

    The story is amazing, really emotional - and this coming from a person who usually skips cutscenes to get to the action!     Unfortunately, so many people are missing out on playing the sequel or posting a review on here without even playing the game because of these things. That being said the game is incredible and in some ways even better than the original. The graphics, environments, level design, music, pacing, combat, and UI are all some of the best of this console generation. Now for the part that everyone seems to be complaining about and why they're review bombing every single user review site.

    The storyline and new characters introduced in this game are amazing. The first Last of Us is one of my all-time favorite video games, if not my favorite, and I've beaten it multiple times. I never expected this game to meet the bar that the first game set but somehow it did. I do not want to post any spoilers but I will say that the game is directly tied to the decision that Joel makes at the end of the first game. For some reason, it appears that many people forget that the decision he made to kill multiple Fireflies in order to save Ellie was morally ambiguous. Joel's decision to save one life over the lives of the Fireflies and potentially hundreds if not thousands of people that would have been saved because of a cure for the virus was not a black and white ending. Joel and Ellie were not and are not in the sequel morally-pure characters. It's what makes them good characters and not stereotypes of ones usually represented in stories about zombies or virus outbreaks.

    That is exactly where the sequel picks up. Joel has to wrestle with the consequences that he faces for this decision and how it will affect everyone around him especially Ellie. The narrative in this game is told out of order as the player weaves through multiple playable characters' storylines. What makes this game's truly incredible and unique though is how it shows the side of the antagonists. We get to see how Joel and Ellie's oftentimes extremely violent actions impact the lives of the people they kill as well as their family and friends. I don't want to say much more than that due to potentially stating any spoilers. If you've heard spoilers or rumored plot points give the game a fair chance. You can't truly experience a game until you've played it. If you've managed to avoid all spoilers then go in with an open mind. I highly doubt that you won't enjoy it in some way.

    Naughty Dog has done the impossible. Each game in their history has continually raised their bar for their ability to tell outstanding stories through the medium of video games. They've learned from their previous games and created one of the most highly polished games of this console generation and all time. Don't miss out on experiencing it.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am a casual gamer who plays for fun and I am writing this review based on my own experience with the game. I would ideally give it a 9.5 but that is not an option. Hence the 10.

    I am splitting my review into 3 sections. Gameplay, graphics ad Story. The story section will contain major spoilers.

    1. Gameplay:
    Overall, there were some major improvements to the gameplay compared to the previous game. For a major portion of the previous game, the goal of the player was to find the fireflies. Every time we got closer to the goal, a sick twist of events would push the goal a bit further and we were forced to play on. Only in the final act of the game, there are a bunch of twists and turns that shifts the focus of the player from the main story and throws in some variety. A good example of this is the part where Ellie is kidnapped by the Cannibals.

    This is completely different in part 2. This game is split into smaller missions and each mission has smaller goals along with one final mission goal. This made the gameplay experience more engaging.

    The game also throws in more variety by adding more uniqueness to various enemy types. There are some new infected as well as human enemy types and each of them engages with you differently. If you are someone who likes to take a stealthy approach, you can overhear the conversations of the human enemy types and sometimes they are really interesting. I also felt that the map design of this game encourages stealth more than the previous game. Engaging with the enemies in combat is also great fun as you get to handle a larger set of weapons while you play as the 2 different characters in the game.

    The game has many environmental puzzles you had to solve to open safes and locked doors with loot behind them. The environmental puzzles were not very hard to crack but you would easily miss the looting area if you don't make a conscious effort to look for them. The puzzles you had to solve to open safes were repetitive but fun.

    I did find the guitar portions mildly annoying, but it was connected to the climax beautifully. So I will give it a pass.

    2. Graphics:
    The outdoors were beautiful and breathtaking whereas the indoors were rich and filled to the brim with details and easter eggs. The game lets you play in a multitude of settings like lush grasslands, forests, swamps, burning village, stormy sea, shaky sky bridge etc. to name a few. The top-notch graphics used to render these environments in detail makes the game more engaging and fun. The game sometimes gives you areas to walk around and explore and appreciate the beauty with no threats around. The character animations for combat, restocking, upgrading weapons etc. were also extremely detailed.

    3. Story: (spoiler alert)
    In short, it is a story of 2 people that are thirsty for revenge against each other and how their lives are impacted by it.

    Joel, the fan-favourite protagonist of the previous game is killed brutally within the first hour of gameplay by a character called Abby who is this game’s antagonist. This lets the player take control of Ellie on a 3-day adventure to track and kill Abby. During the course of these 3 days, you come face to face with allies of Abby. As a player, you get to kill these allies one by one in typical videogame fashion.

    Finally, when you come face to face with the antagonist, the game decides to play a cruel joke and makes you play the 3 days again as the antagonist. Although this portion might not succeed in making players like the antagonist, it helps you get a better understanding of how Ellie’s actions of the past 3 days have impacted Abby’s life. The game reserves some of the better action sequences for this portion of the game as a way of bribing the player to complete this part of the game. The cruel joke continues as the player is forced to beat up Ellie to the last inch of her life while playing as Abby.

    Eventually, the player is given back the control of Ellie so that we can get our long-overdue payback. At this point I was itching to get my hands on Abby. The cruel joke continues as the game presents me with the opportunity to get my revenge but at the same time, it manages to convince me to not wanting to do it. Until this point I was eager to beat the S**t out of Abby, but when I was supposed to ‘press square repeatedly’ to get the kill, I could not get myself to do it. Ellie uses the final bit of goodness in her vengeance filled psyche to show mercy to Abby. Abby rides away into the sunset. Yes, the antagonist kind of wins.

    The game then ends with a scene involving Joel that manages to further elevate our love for our favourite protagonist from the first game.

    Verdict:
    Apart from a few plot holes, I thoroughly enjoyed the emotional roller coaster the game took me on. I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a work of fiction that emotionally manipulates you. Others might not enjoy this.    … Expand

    People need to grow up - there is no point for Naughty Dog to re-make the same game, just to keep fans of the first game pleased.

    The Last of Us II IS a different game. And while it is different - it is still extremely entertaining and well executed.

    After finishing: you can tell so much love went into creating this. There is such attention to detail, but at the same time, each step is leading us toward a bigger picture. Its hard for me to see how someone can not like it if they play it through, or even just play it half way through. Understandably I think some people were devastated by listening to some of the leaks, I went on nearly hate site towards the game and liked it, but well before the end of this journey I could see I was hasty in my reaction. It's a better story and more entertaining and more meaningful than most best pictures like Forest Gump, Braveheart, No Country for Old Men...and in comparing it to a book, it its in the same vein thematically as "To Kill a Mockingbird", but I feel even more superior because it was a sequel.

    I sympathize to those who heard about leaks and felt their high expectations were crushed. I know a theme of hope leaves you with this feeling that's hard to beat, like at the end of part 1. The lighting, textures, shadows, character models and particle effects were all so well done, the developers didn't leave any of the PS4s power on the table, and they did it all without too many performance drops.

    The audio was top-notch, with industry leading voice work and some of the best atmospheric sounds I've ever heard, which helped the gameplay feel beyond intense at times, certain areas were legitimately terrifying. One small touch which I loved was the fact enemies called out names when you killed their friends, it made them seem more real, instead of just random NPCs.

    The story was excellent, with some truly heartbreaking moments and lots of little stories interwoven throughout. You got to see the other side of the story in a way that's rarely the case, which made you reflect on your decisions and made you ask yourself "am I the bad guy?".

    Overall The Last of Us II is a masterpiece, and a game you definitely should play, unless you have a problem with a gay lead, like the people review bombing one of the best games ever made ;)    … Expand

    a game worthy of the end of a generation. with a more than justified history. there is not only an incentive for the protagonist, this incentive is also given to the player, who immerses herself in the story and is totally absorbed by her until the end. everyone involved is to be congratulated for this great game as its predecessor was. maybe even more.

This game is amazing, I don't understand why so many people hate it (well maybe I do but it feels like **** reason to hate it so much like this). I have some cons for sure, for example I just couldn't get over playing Abby, I wasn't able to sympathize with her (I know maybe I should, considering all the things even "good" poeple in this game did just like Ellie, but I just love Ellie :D) but it is what it is and pros surely overcome the few cons. It's just sad game af, people should try to understand what ND tried to tell us with this and love it for what it is, don't hate it because you didn't get what u wanted. Yea and maybe they could keep Ellie those two fingers at least :( so she can play the guitar, because that's one thing I didn't get..how could Abby bite off TWO fingers, where did she get the strength for it (her condition in that moment considered), maybe I am just dumb I don't know :D but it feels like it's impossible to bite off two fingers like that, but still..for me 10/10.… Expand

Characters fueled by hatred, revenge and suffering on every side, brutally contrasted by love and memories of what hope of a better world could have ever meant in a sunken world (in that sense, I think playing the first game is imperative to really comprehend Ellie and Joel’s relationship). I felt for every one of these characters, one way or another. And yes it's about vengeance, but it's so so so much more than that! What Naughty Dog did here is undeniably audacious and risky, but believe me, it is absolutely worth it, precisely because of what makes this medium what it is: immersion. I cried, I laughed, I felt regrets, fear, loss, I mourned, a lot, I felt love and hope, I felt hate and despair. If you read this, don't let the hate get to you. Give this game a try, headphones on, shut the lights and just dive in. Try to forget about the fact that there were leaks in the first place. You gotta play this game for yourself, and if you don't like it, fine, it's okay, why wouldn't it be? I can see why a lot of people don't like it, but don't hate it for the wrong reasons.     The writing, pacing, acting everything you loved about the first one is here. Only though if you think there was no room for it to get more mature, think again.

    The gameplay is also very refined and feels like a perfected naughty dog formula.

    Anyone who rated this game a 9 or lower either did not play it or is dumb as rocks. The best game I have ever played. Will be GOTY unless Cyberpunk is realllllly special. Congrats Naughtydog. You made one hell of a game.

    Druckmann and his team at Naughty Dog have created a piece of visual art; its graphics and scenery are like no other game I have ever played. I could get lost in the sightseeing of Seattle for hours, searching for every Easter egg and collectible available.

    Accompanying this is the most spectacular music and sound design throughout. As a music producer myself, it is something I could only dream of making. (I highly recommend trying the game out with fancy speakers turned up high with the bass booming. You will not regret the experience you encounter).

    Not to mention the most incredible acting which also keeps the game both gripping and engaging consistently. Ashley Johnson in particular comes back to play the role of Ellie and she exceeds all expectations. She had a big role to play and could have easily wrecked her reputation as Ellie. However it has been an absolute pleasure playing as her in both games. Next is a newcomer to the game, Shannon Woodward. She plays the role of Dina, providing phenomenal chemistry between her character and Johnson’s. She is the perfect motivator for Ellie and provides such an incredible spark in both characters. Another newcomer to the game, Laura Bailey, provides a new twist to the role of the antagonist known as Abby. Her performance is fresh and exciting, and adds a more humane feel to the stereotypical bad guy. There are many other new additions to this game as well, keeping the storyline constantly evolving the more you delve in. Every character has been written with precise detail and incredible care and it has been wonderful learning about everyone and everything.

    The Last Of Us Part II is a game which requires your full attention when playing, or face the fear of missing out on some vital information along the way. I finished the game after a long 21 hours and 46 minutes on moderate difficulty, but felt completely rewarded with my time due to extremely informative cinematic scenes, as well as the ability to search around for artefacts and other collectibles along the way.

    Combat was certainly difficult in areas, but required you to think outside the box and therefore challenged me a lot as a player which I admire greatly about this game. Its gruesome clickers never let me off the hook for anything, allowing me to grow as a player with patience, tactical motivation and courage. Other enemies who you will discover later on as well again provide a fresh new feature to this game, truly testing your skills to the maximum.

    I would gladly play this game in its entirety again and again. Phenomenal work by Naughty Dog, Druckmann and the rest of the team, and a truly wonderful sequel to follow the first game.    … Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
