    I am writing this review right after completing the entire game. As a huge fan of the first TLOU, I want to start off by saying this is now my favorite game of ALL time. What Neil and Naughty Dog has accomplished is nothing short of excellence. 10 years from now, people will be talking about how TLOU2 has revolutionized the gaming industry. Future video games will be influenced by itsI am writing this review right after completing the entire game. As a huge fan of the first TLOU, I want to start off by saying this is now my favorite game of ALL time. What Neil and Naughty Dog has accomplished is nothing short of excellence. 10 years from now, people will be talking about how TLOU2 has revolutionized the gaming industry. Future video games will be influenced by its brilliance.

    Critics have claimed TLOU2 is not worthy of praise due to its dark story line and character development. It is true, the game is very dark, but many great stories are. The same can be said about The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and many of the top shows or series nowadays. Remember when Jon Snow died? Fans protested and claimed they weren't going to watch the show anymore. The Walking Dead has also faced backlash and criticism for its plot points. If a critic can't understand TLOU2's ultimate theme and message it offers, it is probably why those critics rated the game with a low score. In a world dimly lit, there is a bright fire that burns with a very positive message. The game and character decisions are very realistic for the environment and situations they are placed in. A story being "dark" doesn't diminish the fact that the story arc is incredible. There is also, in my opinion, a very positive message to be had if you play it all the way through, even if it comes from dark circumstances.

    Many have blasted the game for its character development. There are a lot of people resistant to change, which you can see in the real world today. TLOU2 has so many themes about oppressed peoples, cultures, and nationalities, which some may not like. However, many (not all) are bigoted people that really don't want to see diversity in a video game, let alone real life. The character development is actually what makes the game compelling and has brought passion out of gamers, both negative and positive. Most giving unfair scrutiny to the game are biased critics that will never try to walk in another person's shoes or look at life from a different perspective.
    The storyline and characters are much more deeply rooted than most can understand. For something to change the way we look at things, it is and will be controversial. This is why Neil Druckmann states, "The game is not for everyone."

    I am fascinated by how well written the story is, but the gameplay also excels. TLOU2 expands on what its prequel already did well, adding some new mechanics to Ellie's ability to fight or flight. With the abilities to go prone, dodge, and jump, the gameplay is leaps above its predecessor. The graphics are absolutely the best I've seen in a video game, lending to its realism and makes everything even more believable.

    I truly hope there will be a third installment for TLOU. Seven years is a long time to wait for a sequel, but the wait was well worth it. Thank you Neil and the Naughty Dog team! I truly look forward to at least a trilogy and can't wait for the HBO series to air.

    I was expecting a medium game will all the bad review. But wow I just finished it what a game. The story is long but didn't disturb me whatsoever, didn't want the game to finish. There's no real message in the end but the story is a full story. We can immerse in it and understand the motivation of each playable character. I really don't know what to say. I can kind of understand the disappointment of some players concerning the story because the end sets everything to normal kind of. I feel that what would have made a better ending, is the last flashback of Ellie with Joel. The one at the dance was so sad for me because I taught it was the last words of Ellie to Joel. But actually during the last flashback I was expecting something more emotional between these 2, maybe something that recomforts Ellie in not finishing the job. I found the last flashback sad and think they could have been more to it. That would have made a perfect ending. But seriously what a game… Expand

    Despite all the controversy, this game hits you in the feels and changes your whole idea of what a game would be capable of. Playing as both the protagonist and antagonist is a very brave concept that Naughty Dog must be commended for. After all that's said about the form of narrative, the gameplay mechanics remain faithful to the original, while every aspect is enhanced. The sound design and atmospheric tension is extraordinary, and I don't think any game comes close to what the ambiance achieves with its horror and survival elements. The graphics is 'next gen' so say the least. The colour palette is fresh and is worthy of immense artistic merit. The lighting is incredibly rendered, with this being on par with extraordinary games like Red Dead Redemption II and Control. To conclude with, it's only a moment of time before the true feelings of the game is acknowledged and the preliminary hate goes away. This is a masterpiece. Definitely Game of The Year Contention. (Cyberpunk 2077, all eyes on you now)… Expand

    This game is awesome. I haven't been able to put it down since I started playing. Yeah bad things happen to the characters that you like but this is the world that the Last of Us is set in. I like the stealth. Controlling the gun is a bit irritating but I think that's just me dealing with a console instead of playing on a PC.     As someone who has actually played this game, I can easily say it’s brilliant. It doesn’t try to be anything other than it is; an update and refinement of the gameplay in the first game with larger and more detailed environments, and a well-written revenge story with believable characters.
    If you liked the first game, there is no reason you wouldn’t like this.

    An absolute masterpiece in story telling and gameplay, the level design, soundtrack, gameplay, story, characters, everything is done brilliantly with so much care, ignore the ridiculous negative reviews that were posted within hours after release. People are basing reviews off leaks and Sony actions towards trying to plug the leaks, a good thing if you ask me. Avoiding spoilers, this presents the devastatingly futile cycle of violence brought about by revenge and counter-revenge.     "We are not so different from our sworn enemies sometimes" and many more ideas came to my mind while playing. A game grounded in real characters    I can't believe there are people who disliked this game. It is a **** masterpiece by all standards.     Let me just say this... Everything this sequel set out to do following the original, it did so perfectly.

    The developers wanted to tell a specific story. The main theme of this story is around revenge - that violence begets violence. The players may not agree with the decisions made in the game by main character. The thing is... they aren't meant to. You form certain perceptions by the time you're halfway through. Although Ellie's actions are questionable, you understand the reasoning behind them. And then the writers flip the script. You (hopefully) realise that the actions of the antagonist are equally as justified - in fact, they show more moral restraint than the protagonist. You hated what they did but the reasoning of their actions is the same. It's a vicious cycle which can only end with forgiveness. The non-linear story telling and the pace conveyed this theme excellently.

    Apart from the story, the game design and voice acting was some of the best in any game ever. The landscape shots and character work really are things to marvel at and appreciate. This game does not shy away from violence. It's brutal. Again, as it is meant to be. This is one of the most stress inducing games I've played. The score adds to each intense scene, raising your heart rate and stress levels with every beat. I'm seeing an overwhelming amount of negative reviews on this site and on YouTube. Majority of what I've heard people complain about is 1) the story decisions which they didn't agree with and 2) the LGBTQ aspects. To the first I'd repeat what I said at the start - you may not agree what decisions they took but they had a strong reasoning for each one. If you can't see that, you may have missed the point. And for the second, I've seen games in the past forcefully push forward similar themes and it's clear - it doesn't sit right and you can tell its there to make a point. The Last of Us 2 doesn't feel that way at all. It flows as naturally in the game as any heterosexual story arcs in any other game do. If you feel that the developers put this in due to an agenda, and that's your basis for hate on this game then I do think you should avoid it on the whole. Play it with an open mind or you aren't going to have an enjoyable experience.

    This may not the sequel you wanted it to be, but it's a masterpiece regardless. For me, the PS4 generation ended on a high note.    … Expand

It was even publicly broadcasted that it would be an entirely different beast to the first game, the magic and wonder has been replaced by an eternally bleak and heart-wrenching tale of vengeance and darkness as it travels into the flawed nature of humanity and the repercussions of choosing revenge. It doesn't glorify violence and invites the player to feel bad about their actions as Ellie becomes further calcified by her survival instinct and hardened as her quest for retribution unravels. The original was about 'love' while this sequel tackles the topic of 'hate' which adds to the gloomy tone and devastating story.

    The graphics and character animations continue to push the envelope and test what studios are capable of and it looks like you're watching a movie, the amount of detail on the locations and foliage to the rundown areas of the country as we journey from more than one state giving it a much larger scope than the first game.

    Neil Druckmann outright said that 'fun' isn't the word he would use for Part II, it's a relentless endurance test that continuously beats you down and shows no mercy in displaying the grim reality which fits with the current state of society and that humans can be just as monstrous as the abominations from the Cordyceps outbreak.

    The voice acting and sharply written script helps make the characters believable and engaging and offers a sense of diversity by not conforming to the norm and showing acknowledgment of other communities like the masculine Abby who originally rubbed me the wrong way but Laura Bailey sells her performance.

    This isn't going to appeal to gamers who want things to stick to the status quo as this isn't intended to take the safe way out and a lot of things will happen that you don't like and it's entirely beyond your control. That doesn't suddenly mean the game is bad because it defies your expectations from the first game, it just shows that we're in a whole different weight class now and characters change. Joel had become consumed by hubris after taking on the Fireflies and fighting through the hospital to rescue Ellie that he found himself nigh on indestructible and his arrogance is his downfall which shares similarities with Walter White when he demands rival dealers to say his name and also, Rick Grimes when trying to take over Alexandria because he's already beaten his adversaries and thinks nothing can stop him.

    This is an entirely contrary to what you expect kind of game that grabs hold and doesn't let go and leaves a chilling indelible mark long after the 30 hour campaign.

    The leaks undeniably hurt the reception but people are blowing it way out of proportion and hold a rosy-colored view of the first game that they can't accept change or appreciate that it wasn't going to be the same. There's also edgelords who dislike Ellie's sexual orientation even though it was obvious in the first game with her tomboy look and her romantic experimentation with her friend Riley in the Left Behind DLC. There's also incels who despise strong female representation in media and slander the slightest things.

    Only you can really perceive how you feel but take off the nostalgia glasses for a moment and you'll see that Naughty Dog have raised the bar, yet again.

    Es verdad que es chocante la muerte de Joel ya que algunos extraños que lo matan sin saber porque es muy impactante (pero como todos ya sabían el porqué Abby lo mato), olvidan que esto debería ser nuevo para nosotros y que además no vemos el otro lado de la moneda, se que Ellie es el personaje principal con un motivo de venganza pero también debemos ponernos en el lugar del otro, porque piensa que eres Abby y que un extraño mato a tu padre uhhh si no me debería enojar ya que el que lo mato es Joel y el es bueno y salvo a Ellie obviamente eso a todos nos va a importar un bledo todos buscariamos venganza.
    Además el final de que Ellie no mató a Abby igual es bueno porque nos dicen que la venganza no es buena y que no traerá paz, también se acaba ese ciclo de maldad que nos plantearon de un inicio con la muerte de Joel.
    (Joel siempre será nuestro favorito, pero todos deben pagar las cuentas alguna día y al el llego la cuenta).

    I didn't know how to feel about this game first... so I thought trough everything i liked and hated in this game and it became clear that this might just be one of the best games out there. So stop giving bad ratings to this game if you haven't played it! Play it, it is WORTH IT!

I can't understand how many complain that Joel dies. Yes, he was a main character in the first part and he was also a good and fun team together with Ellie. It honestly hurt my heart when he died, but Ellie was the most important person in this game from the beginning. You live in a post apocalyptic world. there are almost never happy ends and you live with the idea that you could die every day. Joel left all of humanity in the first part just to save Ellie and I'm sure he knew that one day he would catch up with him. So please don't hate the game for that reason.… Expand

This game is a masterclass in storytelling through video games. The enviroments are breathtakingly well crafted, The motion capture animaiton shines through and the lighting really sets the tone of the game. its clear to see that this game is the trials and tribulations of ellie as a character. A revenge story that has Ellie question her choices and review her loyallity to joel. Using unconventional methods of gameplay to get across that theres not heroes or villans here, just a 19 year old girl struggling to understand. Anyone that says the game panders to the LGBT crowd is, quite frankly, a brain dead moron. I doubt Neil Patrick Harris likes to cave in a german shepards skull with a pickaxe. The only issue i have is that the game kinda plays it self at parts but that adds towards the cinematic experience. I highly reccomend this game for anyone who wants a journey through storytelling in video games.… Expand

    "The Last Of Us 2" seemed like a completely cool game to me due to the graphics and gameplay, but I waited a bit longer on certain things. Some of Abby's flashbacks were incesarios, the only good and interesting ones were about her relationship with her dad and how she saw him pass away.

    A part gave more prominence to her than Ellie.

    In a third part they can improve those points.

I give it a 9 simply because the darkness in the game is a little much for people who do not understand things such as mental health issues or for those who do suffer from them. I have personally played and own hundreds of video games across multiple platforms, and The Last of Us part 2 is one of the few that has truly moved me. I will say that I do not condone the drama and mishandling of the leaks but that doesn't meant i will turn my back on a wonderful franchise. You can't blame the child for how the parent acts.… Expand

    The story is soul-crushing, it cuts deep. You will wish you have taken this action instead of that because, in the blink of an eye, that opportunity could be lost.

    This game is mainly about Ellie's relationship with Joel. Secondly, this game is all about the act of "that" that every person has.

    If you play the game, you will understand why Ellie is eager to seek revenge despite what happened that night prior to Joel's death (this is on the last minutes of the game).

    The ending is more bittersweet than the first one that I really wish there will be a part 3. I feel how Ellie feels right now.

The story, it’s clear that it is very difficult to creat a new character/characters and try to create empathy for them like the community care for Joel and Ellie. However, once seeing Abby’s POV and seeing who she was and what she has been through and lost in the past, also showing why she killed Joel does create empathy for her. Now in the 5-8 hours of seeing abby’s life and showing the journey of the days 1-4 also including the past sometimes, it’s worked what the game developers wanted to happen, at the end I didn’t really want to kill Abby, due to seeing her perspective and seeing who she was. Now with Ellie the flashbacks where Joel is there really is very effective and sad and the way his face pops up every now then shows the fact that Ellie now misses him and wishes she could have spent more time with him. The end flash back including the bar flash back really made me get emotional, tears, because to find out that they only just wanted to work everything out, but it’s sadly the day before Joel dies, it just hurt. This game has done really well to show emotion for characters and also I think it has a moral of the story, sort of like how this one thing made Ellie lose more then what she went in with, she lose Dina and JJ (we think), Tommy and his wife broke up, Jessie dies, Ellie loses two fingers so can no longer play certain keys on the guitar, and sadly most of all she chose to lose time with Joel by not forgiving him and realising cons of what he did but not the pros. Not all endings are happy, but this ending was furthing the point of what I said more or less (which is good and emotional). Overall a hugely emotional game, I am defo gonna play this game again just not now as I have to take it all in. I hope that a part 3 does come out in the years to come as I would love to see where Ellie goes and what people think of her at the city. I hope you all enjoy the game, also when playing it you real should read the notes found and listen to the dialogue and take it all in! The story does become a bit predictable at times, and it's understandable the frustration players who have strong feelings for the characters in the first game may experience with some of the twists and turns of this sequel - but at the end of the day it's a tragic tale of two cities in which both sides are too caught up in their emotions to realize the harm they're causing.

    Only real detractors for me were that the new infected don't provide any meaningful diversity in gameplay. And as far as the story goes I was left at a few times wishing I could make a decision for myself rather than the mashing in a scripted fight I'm forced to perform.    … Expand

Made me cry a lot of times as well :D Sooo many little details (as expected from Naughty Dog) and really beautiful characters/world. I didn’t see any of the leaks, so I went in totally blind. Not gonna lie, I was scared what will happen because I heard people didn’t like the ending. I think it was perfect though. **maybe a mild spoiler here**
    I didn’t even know that we will play as Abby. First I was like "I’m not gonna play as this **** but after some hours I started to like her/her story and her friends as well.

    You can’t really compare this game to The last of us part I, because they were made 7 years apart, and have completely different themes. I totally recommend this game to everyone.    … Expand

    The peak of this generation of console gaming.

    Amazing graphics, sound design, gameplay, level design and world building. It's NaughtyDog at his best.

    The story takes very bold directions, and it's definitely not for everyone. Even so, it's a 10/10 masterpiece.

The only slight problem i have with this game is the way the story is handled, that doesn't mean i dont like the story because i do but there is a very clear difference between the previous game and this one.     La perfezione non esiste, ma la Naughty Dog ci è andata parecchio vicino con questo titolo.
    trama coinvolgente, emozionante e semplice ma con una narrazione è degna del miglior campione d'incassi al cinema con qualche allungamento di brodo.

    Details Nought dog implement In this game just blow my mind, gameplay is so imperative you almost feel like you be in this post apocalyptic city. Noice makes by infected are proper disturbing and gun fights is amazing you really can feel power of guns and what damages can make. In my opinion definitely one of best game which came out on PS4.
