    How does an amazing game get so many 0s? The game takes about 30 hours to beat, yet most people clearly haven't beaten the game. Even if you dislike the story, the art, the music, etc is still amazing. Unless you're very homophobic, this is a great sequel.

    I've read some of the negative 'reviews' here and it doesn't really make sense to me. I have the feeling that alot of these come from conservative Americans who see conspiracies everywhere (suddenly there is a hidden political agenda in this game?). Read a book, travel, become open minded and play the game again, maybe you'll love it then, just like I did.

    Incredibly beautiful, haunting, harrowing. A spectacular experience that does justice to TLOU Part 1. This game is varied, brutal, and gut-wrenching. A masterpiece. GOTY.

    Really enjoyed it and I am on my second play through now. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys good writing and thought provoking narratives. Play the game for yourself, there’s so much more to it than any leak could show

    Game is amazing. Visuals, story, and gameplay are well polished. Ignore the chads review bombing. Most haven't even played it. Props to ND for going against the grain and doing what they wanted. Enjoyed all 26 hours of my play through.

    One of my favorite things about this game how it shows the story, instead of telling it.

    The Internet would have you believe that Joel getting ambushed by Abby is completely out of character. And they're right... for old Joel.

    But new Joel has lost his edge. He's not the same creature of pure survival as he was in the first game.

    The very first scene of "The Last Of Us Part II" highlights this change.

    Joel's not carrying a gun. Instead, he wears a guitar on his back, at the exact same place and angle where his rifle hung throughout ALL of the first game.

    It's such an excellent visual way to convey that he's softened... and it shows the consequences of doing so, given the life he's lived.

    The entire game is FULL of excellent visual symbolism such as this.

    Don't let the haters put you off -- this is 100% the sequel the first game deserved!

    My criticisms is the combat is a bit of slog later on in the game, and there "dog scene" was handled pretty poorly. But there's so much else good about this game, it's hard to believe it's really a "0 / 10 franchise killer" like so many of these review bombs would have you believe...    … Expand

    Visuals & sound design are the best thing I’ve ever seen / heard in a game or even maybe a film. The story is fantastic, the writing is well done & it conveys a point, the moral dilemmas of the characters & the fact that they’re just human & they have issues & unavoidable things they must face & seeing the light sometimes too late.
    I frankly loved every minute of my 23    A true masterpiece.

    Im not going to give anything away spoiler wise. I just wanted to say my son got me this game for Father's Day since I loved the first game. I dont know what all the fuss is about. Get over it... the game play is tight,similar to the last one. The graphics hands down the best I've seen so far on ps4 right up there with Herizon Zero Dawn. Its about her losing Joel thus losing herself (just like the song Future days). And if your review bombing it well I got no words for you. This game is about forgiveness, Ellie forgiving Joel for what he did and the player forgiving Abby for what she did, that my interpretation anyways. If you cant forgive you wont like this game, doesn't mean it deserves review bombing...… Expand

    The Last Of Us part 2 is one the best game of the last 5 years so far. And it CANNOT be judged without being played. The majority of the people that rated it haven't played it yet. Even though the end is quite bad. It's a GOTY overall. The decade has just started and we already have one that will be remembered.

It is a masterpiece, the gameplay is phenomenal and they add many great mechanics, the story is incredible because it teaches us everything Ellie had to go through to forgive Joel and since revenge does not fill you as a person, the graphics of the best of this generation and it even seems like a good job from naugthydog next and the end of the game is subjective because although people tell others that it is a bad game at the end but I feel that it is so it even seems to me a good ending and that actually the second game surpasses the second I don't see the unnecessary hate

    I like this video game a lot. This whole situation seems very unfair to me and I am very sorry because naughty dog ​​does not deserve this.     This game had me spectical. With the leaks and Niels past hiccups I was worried. Thankfully, the game is amazing I got emersed into the world and never broke out (except for once) and the story was granted, not elaborate but it was executed amazingly making me feel emotions from just the smallest thing. But the strongest thing on this master piece is the story. I cannot recall any other game which would be able to trigger so many different emotions in me. Of course, we all love Ellie and Joel after first game and secretly hoped for them to be main good heroes of the second part, but after finishing I'm so glad this game took me to different area. Oh, how uncomfortable I felt when started to play as Abby and how surprised I become when started to understand all her actions with the backgrounds. As well as I was stunned when Ellie showed her darker side by going directly for revenge in any cause and realizing it's consequences after. Part two gave me beautiful experience of how some things can be more than just straightforward good vs bad, every single event can have more points of views depending on who is experiencing it.… Expand

Masterpiece easily a 9 but its design, graphics and details such as the fuel canister its nozzle protrudes from the backpack raises it to 10; impressive what was achieved with a PS4. Incredible story but difficult to understand without paying attention; considering that Joel's death is very fast during the plot but understandable because it would lengthen the game even more unnecessarily, it should be noted that his death was basically in the style of deaths within the universe of The last Us also that it was the only way to continue with the story since part 1 was very finished and I do not see the way that Joel becomes a super hero again in another repetitive way; the story starts very slowly it feels heavy but once it ends it starts what is a series of murders with cruelty this throughout the game; the detail that the npc have names is something that impresses and even more so with the motion capture of the deaths; The script is very well done but you have to pay attention to understand it with knowing that your actions have a reaction and thus the game deceives you, thinking of revenge but Ellie only looks for a way to forgive Joel (a rather orthodox way to forgive). I actually praise naughty because they are the only company to have the balls to make a controversial game like this. I'm currently SPOILER WARNING 13 hours in and at the part of the game where you play as abby and see why she took revenge on Joel many people might not remember at the end of part 1 when Joel saves ellie the doctor that stood up to joel was actually abbys dad and he was loved in there community highly which you could probably understand why she did it. I think it takes the story even further when you see her perspective. people do not understand that this world is dark curel and depressing. this game is a lot more than what people are saying. the game had a really bad launch and was trashed by the media without knowing the whole story including youtube influencers who use this game as way to get views by making videos on the game while they said they aren't buying the game it doesn't make sense. It is not a perfect game because I believe this is not possible, but this game is certainly one of the best games created to date. I believe that many people hated the game because of the death of one of the characters most loved by the players and fans of the 1 game and yes, this feeling of anger and anguish is hard and makes you wonder if the game is really worth it, but it wouldn't work without that. This game as stated by the director is about hate and revenge and there would be no greater motivation for Ellie than this one. Another point is about the gameplay with Abby, maybe you wonder why the ND makes you play with the "villain" of the game, for a good amount of hours, until you see the story behind her motivation. Since Ellie and Joel's relationship is incredible, why don't we put Abby in their place, Joel took what she loved most in the world and she focused all her energies in search of that revenge, just as she took what Ellie most loved her in the world, and that took everything away from her, the relationship with the WLF was very superficial, something just to survive, because what mattered to her was only revenge, and after that she had nothing more, but in the end she found it a reason to live that was the meeting with Lev and that even reminds us a little Ellie and Joel (and the relationship built between them in the first game is incomparable). At the end of the game, in the final battle, the game brings a feeling of anguish because you end up falling for Abby throughout the journey and end up worrying about her and at the end of it Ellie realizes that killing her will not fill the void inside her and that wouldn’t justify what she was doing. This is very clear at the end of the game, a bitter, empty feeling, because she lost everything she loved most, but she had to move on.

    About the relationship between Ellie and Dina I didn't think it was forced and it worried me a lot before the game's release, I think it flows naturally, but this is very personal to everyone

    If there is one point that I think could improve is the variety of faces of the NPCs, it is quite repetitive and as the facial expressions are very realistic you end up remembering them.

    It was a good game. Controls were improved, the story and encounters are well done too! The plot makes sense for what happened to play out the way it did. People hating on this game hate on it without real merit to their argument. Get that anti-LGBTQ+ **** outta here.

    Outstanding. I'd urge any fans of the original to play this game.

    I don't know why people are saying there is meaningless 'sjw' or 'politics' in the game. This story was outstanding. Naughty Dog has done it again. I'm firmly convinced a lot of the hate on here is due to people buying a completely different game.

The storytellers rightly thought that it was time to exhibit both perspectives of the harsh realities we all experience. Nothing is linear and plainly black/white in any respect, even though we want it to be. This is why people love those circus superhero movies— very simply, easy to identify with “good vs evil” plot. That isn’t the way the real world works, and it looks like the simple world view that draws people to plain, ‘good vs. evil’ Batman-type nonsense is the same thing that is stopping people from understanding and subsequently enjoying this masterpiece. Yes, it’s hard to watch Joel and Elli quarrel. It’s really hard to watch Jesse die after you grow to like him, or to watch Ellie and Dina separate, unless you have some kind of weird hang-up about same-sex romance, which seems like the case for some of you. It’s difficult to think about the potential regrets that Ellie has in regards to her somewhat neglectful treatment of Joel as of late— never telling him she loves him or she’s thankful for him. That’s all really difficult, but it makes you feel something. That’s how art works. Good art should make you feel uncomfortable because it forces you to stare into the abyss of meaning.

    Most of you just want to swing from buildings with your webs and mash x until everything is dead because you’re the ‘good guy’ and they are the ‘bad guy’. Grow up. That’s just a response to story criticism. Beyond that, art and environment are staggering, writing has some of the most authentic displays of human interaction I’ve seen in media, the gameplay is smooth, and the game is a great length. The one negative I’d concede is that stealth is a little choppy, at least for me. There are instances where it doesn’t really make sense for the enemy to have not seen you as well as the opposite case, but maybe that was just human error.    … Expand

    I honestly cannot understand all of the negative reviews that The Last of Us Part II is getting and it shocks me that true LoU fans cannot get past the intense/controversial moments and respect and appreciate the team taking the story in a different direction to evolve the characters and world in a way that they reasonably would if this was real life. I tend to be an optimist, but I can't disagree that these sorts of events, factions and emotions would arise in a post apocalyptic style world. You may not like it, or agree with it, but you can't deny that this type of tension between surviving humans could happen and that the toll that takes on our beloved characters could change them in ways we may struggle with looking from the outside in. Coming online to bash a game that so many people dedicated 100s of hours of their lives to because within your first few hours with the game you didn't like some of the narrative choices or character developments just blows my mind and seems so shallow and immature.

    The game immediately drew me back into that hostile world from nearly a decade ago and I genuinely wanted to explore every inch of the environments that the team brought to life. Every detail of each scene, room, building, etc. was thoroughly thought through and you can tell that everyone involved soaked their hearts into designing a world that is believable.

    Yes the game is dark at times, and tough to get through, but that's how you know it's compelling. If a game can make you squirm, tense up, cry, laugh and literally just stare in amazement, it's a testament to a well written and designed game that draws you in emotionally as a player. Each cut scene had my full attention and even though some of the tougher moments were difficult to play or watch, I knew I had to see the story to the end. And to all the critics slamming the team for building SJW themes into a game, get over it, it's 2020. I even dislike having to put the term 'SJW' into my review because if having strong female characters and LBGTQ sexual orientations or gender identities in a video game is considered "social justice" we have a much bigger problem in our contemporary world even without an apocalyptic event occurring.

    To Halley and Neil and the rest of the Naughty Dog crew, please know that the a vast majority of the LoU audience is more mature than this and a lot of us can take the emotional toll that the game places on us to be rewarded with something that's unique, thought provoking and immersive. We can understand how tough some of these decisions must have been to make, but also can understand why they were done. Please don't ever shy away from telling the compelling stories you want to, or building the characters that you feel are appropriate regardless of what the masses want - that's ultimately what will continue to allow the gaming world to evolve. It's what made us fall in love with TLoU Part I and it's what has made me love Part II. Thank you for the incredible effort put into this story and game.    … Expand

It has 34k negative ratings, and most of those came out the day of release, 99% from people who heard what happens in the game and didn't like it, following the leaders of their youtube/twich groupthink.

    Gameplay: 10/10 - This is easily among the best gameplay the PS4 has to offer. Anyone discounting gameplay to give this game a 1 either didn't play the game or is so immeasurably butthurt, their review should be withdrawn from the calculation.
    Graphics: 9.5/10 - See above
    Story: 8/10 - The story isn't as good as the first game, but TLoU's story was probably the best in any game ever, so that is hard to beat. It was also a vastly different game, focused on one character's selfishness and restrained madness. Joel channeled his lack of ability to save his daughter and her death at the hands of humans to Elie and his general hatred for humanity. This made him choose Elie over humanity, despite not giving Elie a choice in the matter. Joel was selfish and wanted Elie to live to sate his own failures, and keep him from loneliness. This selfish and hateful act inevitably brings its comeuppance both in his demise and the turn to madness monstrosity that befalls the one he was so desperate to save. It is like what he held onto was a hatred and disgust for humanity, and that manifested in Elie by no agency of her own. People forget that the fireflies saved Elie from drowning. She was incapacitated when they took her to the surgery room to save humanity. Marlene knew Elie far better than Joel, and knew she would be more than willing to have sacrificed herself so that all those she lost would not have died in vain, so that there would be no more Rlieys killed by this plague.
    Balls: 15/10 - It is refreshing for a game to take such daring steps that they know will inevitably anger the gamer bro and white nationalist communities.    … Expand

    This game is unlike any other and will go down as a classic--as no other game in history has made you question the morality of your protagonists like The Last of Us Part 2. The graphics, animation, environments, combat are incredible, and the story, while controversial, is extremely well written. Congrats to the team at Naughty Dog for shaking the games industry to its core once again.
