    Although it subverted expectations in a way I don’t fully agree with, it delivers another satisfying installation to The Last of Us story.

    A clever take on morality told through a non conventional story structure. It makes you question your actions all the way to the end.

    Its just a shame, that this game is a victim of review bombing. I think if someone has played the game to its last minute, there is no way someone would give it a lower rating that 7-8.     I waited so long for this game and had the absolute best weekend of this year. I could not wait to continue and also took a day off work to have the time to finish it as soon as possible.
    It was compelling, with lovely moments to laugh about. But also haunting, violent and heartbreakingly honest to what a human being ist capable of. This game shows two women, who are in fact no heroes. They experienced different, but similar losses in their lifes and are captivated in revenge and hate. But there is always someone who is worth fighting for. Sometimes its their own soul. So the motto of the fireflies if a pretty good way to describe a bit of this game. Its not just a game full of loss and hate, but also a silverlining. Please don't let the haters win with their bad ratings. Just play the game for yourself. It is worth every penny.

    Please naughty dog continue that saga with Ellie, or Ellie and Joel their story is fantastic, not Abby and Lev please, me and the community hate Abby! We can't play with her! A parts of the story left me a little disappointed in this part 2 but, Ellie and Joel are the best characters in the story of video-game and their story is the best emotional ever, true love from Italy ❤️

    Excellent work! I had a very strong emotional experience. After the end of the story I couldn't stop crying for a few hours. The gameplay is amazing, the scenes are incredibly realistic, every detail worked out particularly. This work is provocative in this segment. It's real masterpiece of art.

    Don't listen to all the haters that saw the leaks and think this game is bad. Play the game yourself, everything about it is beautiful. Graphics, gameplay, combat and story, simply outstanding.

People pissed because they killed Joel and had to play Abby? Get over youself. If you don't pick a side (even though it's hard af not to) then it's much more enjoyable. I was extremely sad when Joel died but it was necessary for the story. And I was extremely skeptical when I had to play as Abby but her side of the story is sooo well done!! People complaing about the game pushing an LGBTQ+ agenda on people obviously have other problems going on in their brain so those opinions do not **** matter. It's rare to find a game that makes you feel conflicted, sad, remorseful, horrified, happy and scared. This game lets you see the other side of things in such a good way! This is the G.O.A.T. of video games and it's insane that people are writing it off because of Joels death or Abby being a playable character for half the game. And OMG, the amount of people that played 7ish hours of the game, decided they didn't like that Joel died or how he died so they stopped playing and watched the ending online is absolutely ridiculous. You're missing out on sooooo much context. The whole point of it was to show you the other side of the story and yeah that has been done before, sure, but it has never been done this well. Who tf watches a movie, decides that they don't like the beginning so they skip to the end and see the ending without context and decides it's crap? You didn't watch the movie, you've seen less than a quarter of it. Who starts a tv series, watches the first episode, decides they don't like that someone died and then skips to the final episode of the series and decides they don't like it? Are you kidding me? The fact that people are doing it with a masterpiece of a game and acting like their opinion on it matters is ridiculous. I guarantee the majority of the low scores are a mix people that did that, trolls, and bigots who are mad about LGBTQ+ characters. Yes, there will be a select few that just did not enjoy the game because it's not their type of game and that I can respect. But play the whole game! Don't be a damn so freaking ignorant and formulate your own opinions after playing the whole story. This game is 10/10. Easy.… Expand

It’s gorgeous and has some of the best stealth action gameplay to date. The story is incredibly dark, but truly amazing.     This is an incredible game. I can describe in words how much she impressed me with her quality, how many times I cried over her like a little child. The plot and characters are perfectly spelled out, each of which has its own motivation. Events of the past and present are perfectly intertwined, as everything is interconnected.     Le gameplay, bien que semblable au 1er, est affiné et c'est très bien comme ça. Je le trouve plus que suffisant et il se rend au service de l'univers où chaque ressource compte.
    Certains personnages manquent selon moi d'un peu de profondeur, mais dans l'ensemble, l'écriture de ces derniers est réussie.

    This sits with requiem for a dream as one of the most emotionally taxing media experiences I've ever experienced. I could not be happier with their execution. The story when boiled down to bullet points is simple and seemingly poor, but it's not about that, it's about the moment to moment character experiences and challenges your ability to empathise it simply cannot be told in a few short plot points, much like the original game - when boiled down is also seemingly paper thin but astoundingly deep beneath the surface.

    This is a game about parallels, pain and the futility in pursuing hatred. Those that responded to this with vitriol are ironically the people best served to learn from the story being told.

    The gameplay is expansive and fun, fights are brutal, violent and astoundingly dynamic and cinematic. The visuals are the best I've seen this console generation, to the point where I can't wait to see this on the PS5 with some more gumption - the fact that is even runs on the PS4 as well as it does is amazing.

    How anyone can think this is anything short of one of the greatest games of this generation is bewildering. If you love the original game, go in with an open mind and use that trust built up through the previous story telling. There's no 'agenda' here Neil Druckmann and co. are just here to make you suffer in the greatest way possible.    … Expand

If you looked at videos into this game before buying it you'll only have yourself to blame for not wanting to play it and hating it as you will never have the chance to experience it from your own point of view. If you bought it and decided to stop playing it because of what happens in the story that's your choice. But I had to keep playing it to find out the truth of what happened and why it happend and I loved every minute of it as I didn't know what was going to happen next. I know the story is very dark and violent but I love those types of stories as you never know what is going to happen, where it will take you and how it will affect you. I would highly recommend this game as it has a great and unexpected story to it that will stick with you long after you've played it.… Expand

    The world of TLOU is harsh, cruel, and sorrowful, where humanity has been long strayed from its original values. A lot of people here say that the game is bad because of its story but I think TLOU part 2 deserves at least an 8, in an objective way for the landscapes, visuals, and gameplay - it's a breathtaking game and a mindblowing experience.

    I understand why people didn't like this game. This is not the story I wanted, this is horrible and painful, but so is life, and i'm grateful because I am being treated as a human being and not as a consumist who gets everything what they want. Naughty dog wanted to tell a story, the did it and I lived it. Not the story I wanted, but the story I got, and it's brilliant.

It’s a great series that is emotionally flat and fun to play. If you want to play a game that makes you love or hate characters and actually care what happens to them one way or another, this is the game for you. What story do you think would need to be told to justify the game’s existence? It wasn’t going to be about finding a cure or repairing society. Look at the Walking Dead. It’s about survival and building an existence with whatever morals and values remain in a society devoid of rule of law. The way the story forces you to empathize with all the characters or make you outright hate them is something I’ve never really seen in a video game before. Critics of this game keep forgetting that this is a video game. The graphics are spectacular. I’ve never seen a game with such complex animations with almost no glitches or clipping. It’s extremely polished and the environments are stunning. The way they created the football stadium caught me in awe as I took my time looking for little details. Same with the museum and aquarium that were made to tell a story and not much else. The sense of scale was extraordinary. The only other studio developing games with this level of detail is Rockstar. Also, don’t forget the rope physics that literally took 3 months to add to the final game. There’s a scene where a character takes off her shirt over her head and there is no clipping. Then you have the gameplay. The only gripe I have is that you are rewarded for combing environments constantly for ammo and items. It gets tedious after 27 hours. Plus you never know on your first play though if you should be saving your stronger weapons or holding on to the ammo for later. Besides that, the action is so intense and the violence is unprecedented in a game. The detail of the gore in this game may turn off all but the most hardened fans. Naughty Dog has mastered survival horror gameplay. I found myself playing sections late at night excited and scared to make it though a room of infested zombies. I wouldn’t say I enjoyed fighting the zombies but I sure loved fighting human enemies. While the AI is still not the best, outsmarting a group of humans or stealthy taking them out one by one is so much fun. You feel like such a badass at times. That said, I’m not a fan of fighting dogs or dealing with them tracking my scent. Finally, I don’t understand the issues with the gender identity of characters or the story at all. Naughty Dog made creative decisions. The story is meant to be bleak and they took real risks with the story. I applaud them for that. If you consider the narrative arc from the first game, the characters fate makes perfect sense from a storytelling perspective. The characters all react realistically given their past and motivations. Disagree with the story. Hate it. But don’t give this game a 1. It’s not a 1 and you all know it. If this game had zero story at all and just had you killing humans and zombies, devoid of context, it’s still a 7/10. The fact that people are all so riled up over the plot is exactly what Naughty Dog wanted. It sells games and polarized fans, and has us coming back for more. We want to know what happens next. Sure, the story has been more or less told before, but not this way in a video game. Not where you are forced to play as the divisive character where you don’t get to choose what happens. You play as a character and you must do what the narrative commands to finish. It makes you, at times, feel disgusting. That’s the point. It’s genius and it’s a masterpiece we will be talking about for years to come.… Expand

All the negative review stem from people either not understanding the game or not taking the time to play it at all. Joel’s death was a smart plot point and the story that was built from there was so well made that you really start to feel for all the characters. Abby was a character you were supposed to hate and then like, but the people who didn’t understand the game did not comprehend her story. The way Ellie and Abby parallel each other shows that they should be liked the same and it leads to a very interesting story.… Expand

It is quite naive and immature to assume that in a deadly post-apocalyptic world that people will behave rationally, morally, or even kindly to one another, and this poignant story explores those perspectives and themes. Many of these review bombers are simply upset that a beloved, albeit, selfish character is killed off early on (despite the fact that death is an increased reality of this game world and that death is the reality of our world too) refuse to give the game any credence thereafter. Many more are also deeply bigoted despite their claims that the ‘writing is just bad’. The game champions a queer hero (who has always been queer since the first game) and a trans character later on who actually fits into and serves the story. These diverse characters are lifted up by an ethnically diverse cast too which feels correct in today’s world. Notions that this game is pandering to queer people, women, and people of colour as a political message (when these diverse people are already existent in our real world) are completely biased and hateful. Especially the ‘joke’ that a certain character is unclearly a man or a woman because of their physique is transphobic and sexist. Please ignore these reviews and enjoy the game for what it is and keep an open mind. In saying all this, my only criticisms of the game is that for a story about revenge and violence it really ought to have a reward system for sacrificing your enemies, and there are also a few small moments where the great illusion of immersion are broken simply because the game tries so hard to be immersive (see, swimming underwater with a backpack full of notes and journals and gunpowder). It seems also that the west especially is not used to seeing their heroes fail, lose or regress, but this is all a part of the brutal but excellent reality that is the Last of Us Part II.… Expand

    The Last of Us 2 seems to have divided gamers - like marmite, you either love it or hate it. I certainly fall into the "love it" category, but I didn't to begin with.

    The story took a bizarre turn.. one that was difficult to swallow at first. But the game found a way to gradually and subtly change your whole perspective on the story, the characters and ultimately what is right and wrong or that blurred grey area in-between.

    Having spent some time reading through the negative reviews.. they all have the resounding tone of grief. People are not grieving a poor story-line, but grieving that the storyline did not map out how it was "supposed to" in their head. Good stories are supposed to make you feel something - and this game did exactly that. However, making individuals feel negative emotions from playing your game will not yield the same 10/10 ratings that you got from the first game.
    Let's not forget, we effectively doomed the world to suffer a zombie infected apocalypse when a cure was within reach.. yet that felt pretty good, Joel was the hero, right? No, he wasn't, far from it.

    The gameplay was nothing short of flawless, keeping you in suspense at all times whilst improving on the AI and combat of the previous game.

Another thing I liked was that the enemies were so well programmed, especially on Grounded Mode. They all felt so real and it was kinda sad watching them slowly bleed out, even the Scars.

    This game is magnificent and worth every penny. If you cannot see past the fact that Joel dies or that the story was sloppily written, then don’t play it, fine by me. The positives far outweigh the negatives though.    … Expand

I disregarded the leaks and played with an open mind and with a knowledge of unkown as to what is to be offered (this will give more of a shock factor when playing).The game offers some very crazy plot twists and overall changes to the world, interactions and characters we once knew and loved. As I played and finished the game I can understand the point of view of many angry fans, however I have found that Naughty dog developers came into this with a message and certain goal that would forever change a deep and loveable story into a dark and twisted one while also changing the way we see games, characters and interact with moral choices. Everything within this game had consequences for every action, a factor that most video games never take into account. the whole concept is new and unheard of and whenever something industry changing comes along so will haters which is why the controversy is common. Now focusing more on the story and gameplay and graphic. I have found that it is worth the 7 years wait and everything last of us that I loved during my childhood, the graphics are next gen and can only wait to see the new Ps5 tech looks, the gameplay has had complaint to having little changes, but my answer is why change something that isn’t broke? It runs more action packed, more open world where the fights can come down to your decisions and your skills and really fulfills the title of survival where you will feel like an underdog yet it will give the instinct of what it takes to survive which has been done absolutely beautifully. Now lastly to finish off the story, I don’t want to giveaway spoiler but I believed at first I was destroyed and was considering joining in on the boycotts. But after playing further in, giving backstories, showing the bold new world you begin to feel the developers plans and storyline checking out, the flashbacks Ellie has gives us characters we knew and saw them change, saw our characters grow. What I’m trying to say is that we try and replicate crazy adventures into video games so we can get an experience similar to real life (though obviously Impossible) The last of us is an unbelievable setting and makes it feel real, with real choices, real consequences and real Actions. Characters that can be hated but made them human with human factors such as pain and most of all emotional pain. All the cliche of the action hero and all the cliches of surviving the impossible is rid off, And gives us what I call the closest thing to a real life zombie apocalypse with a factor that connects us emotionally whether you love it or not.… Expand

    Having recently read Euripides' Medea, how far one should go enacting revenge and hatred is strikingly similar to The Last of Us Part II. The gameplay is truly a major step-up from the original, rarely does a single player game play so intensely. Graphically the game is second-to-none on the PS4. Beyond the leaks and rage, playing the entire 25 hr game is a must play.

    Incredible story with ridiculous detail both in the environment and combat, a technical achievement in all respects. This has to be the best interactive media experience I've ever had. An absolute must play. Brilliant sequel to the original, which I would definitely suggest playing before this one in order to feel the full impact of the narrative.

    Como jogo, ele é incrível. A gameplay traz algumas poucas novidades mas é mais bem fluida que no primeiro jogo, gráficos de cair o queixo, posso dizer que tem os melhores gráficos da geração com tranquilidade, a violência gráfica é impressionante, e a campanha possui muitas setpieces dignas de Uncharted (arrisco dizer que tem setpieces melhores que Uncharted 4). O nível de desafio é razoável, contendo alguns momentos bem tensos, mas no geral ele é mais fácil que o primeiro TLoU. O jogo possui mapas mais amplos e vc pode não ver alguns trechos de história se não vasculhar tudo. Existem cenários alternativos com itens e colecionáveis (alguns casos tem história também) mas não é um mundo aberto.

    Único ponto negativo em relação a gameplay é a lista de troféus. Faltou ter troféus de dificuldade pra um desafio maior pra platina. Praticamente todos os troféus são sobre coleta de itens e colecionáveis. Ele é muito mais fácil de Platinar que o primeiro game.Também senti falta de um Multiplayer

    Quanto a história, tenho um sentimento ambíguo sobre ela. A premissa é boa, o argumento pra iniciar a jornada da Ellie é inquestionável e condizente com a personagem, assim como a motivação da Abby também é plausível e bem amarrada com o primeiro jogo. Mas a execução dessa premissa é cheia de altos e baixos e conveniências de roteiro. Existem sim pontos altos na história, momentos que me deixaram tenso, chocado, alegre e melancólico. Só que entre esses momentos há uma narrativa Ok, nada do nível do jogo de 2013. Não é ruim, nem terrível, mas também não é espetacular e nem tão incrível assim como alguns críticos disseram, apesar de ter momentos estrondosos. Ainda estou refletindo sobre o final (finalizei o game há algumas horas atrás) mas não achei ruim.... ele é um tanto reflexivo e triste, mas eu compreendo quem não curtiu. O final te traz um vazio gigantesco, mas acho que é essa a mensagem que o jogo quer passar.
    Não é um final polêmico, é ambíguo e de certa forma revoltante pois dá a sensação de que a jornada foi em vão. É natural que hajam opiniões dissonantes entre os fãs sobre a história e acho que a Naughty Dog já esperava isso.

    Minha nota não é 10/10 pois a história do primeiro jogo é muito melhor. Parte 2 se sobressai na Gameplay    … Expand

    After that we've got sweetest possible graphics, abandoned buildings are new main character for me. Cool melee violence, finishers, most realistic blood pools ever ;) Couple of amazing sequences, few minibosses and one resident evil like big one which remains in memory. More open areas slots well onto fresher combat aproach. Loading times and technical part of the game also deserves an aplause. Overall gameplay is immersive.
    Soon i'll start NG+ with moore stealth aproach, im curious, does boredom of walking/talking parts will push me off...
    First game was special... this one is just a good game ;)

    Ive never played such a fantastic game!! The world here is the true star of the game. the apocalyptic setting is jaw dropping. Story is very well done and the gameplay is just terrific. This game will be talked about for years to come and is the best game this year.

    It's funny how the people rate this game when they didn't finish it up on the first place. The percentage of people who finished this game is less than 1% and you can check that out by going to game trophy's. I finished 12 hours of the game and it's amazing but not perfect.

    I enjoyed the game because I didn’t see the leaks. It’s a really great game and the graphics are nice. The combat and dodging is way better in this game. Naughty Dog has always did a great job with their games and I have mostly all of them and enjoyed all of them. I really liked the relationship between the characters.

    1)Gameplay. It didn't change much since the first part. I was not very thrilled with it in the first place, though I've found it more enjoyable in the second part than in the first one even considering the almost double length. However, I would like to point out that this rather simple gameplay loop doesn't fit very well with the amount of time you spend with this game which made me hate every stealth section during certain periods of the game (like early part of the second half). I would say that if you liked gameplay in the first part, you are going to like it here. If you disliked it - you will probably still dislike it though a little less.

    2)Characters. All the characters (for me with the exception of Ellie) act either completely reasonable or at least fully understandable by me. I didn't give a single darn about Ellie when the game begun, started liking her and relate to her closer to the middle and felt very sorry for her in the end. I hated Abby throughout the entire game but closer to the end my hatred wore off a bit though explaining her motivation didn't do anything to me since I expected her to be fully motivated to do all she did in the first place. The rest of the characters were either insignificant to me (like Dina or Lev) or had too little time to shine (like Tommy or Jesse) though the last two did very well with the time they've got.

    3)Aesthetics. Views are always gorgeous designers should take my applause. Game looks very great. However, we have a classic problem of a left-viewed director thinking too much about deactualisation woman thus making every single one of them either from just not really attractive to ugly (like Ellie or Dina or some random females) to an absolute monstrosity like Abby during most of the game: the implausible amount of muscles, garbage haircut, sometimes bizarre-looking faces made me feel like it is just a weird-looking man voice acted by a woman.

    4)Story. MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD. It didn't really develop (for me) in the first part of the game (except the very beginning when Joel got killed. Then, well, almost nothing happened: yeah, Ellie was going to point A, then B, then C, e.t.c. This part looked more like a character development part and it served its purpose right, so not much to complain about. Then Abby comes after Ellie and here I feel like the writer made a mistake: we've switched to Abby after the moment she points the gun towards Ellie which creates intrigue. For me, it made playing Abby far less interesting because I didn't really care about her and because I was already a little bit tired with gameplay and now I had to play for roughly 8 more hours with progression being reset. It didn't feel right. Now I would like to look at some of Ellie's decisions. First, she decided to go after Abby instead of helping Tommy even though they agreed with Jesse to go only for Tommy even if it means leaving Abby alive. I don't like it but it is believable for me. Second, in the end of the Santa Barbara mission: in the end, Ellie frees Abby and during the fight when she takes the upper hand Ellie doesn't finish Abby off but lets her go instead. I can understand why this happened - to make me feel sorry for Ellie as with her revenge she got nothing left: she can't return to Tommy since she didn't kill Abby, Dina left her, Jesse got killed mostly because of her (if she had gone with him for Tommy she wouldn't have left the map and wouldn't have led Abby to them), she's lost two of her finger so she can't play the guitar which is the only legacy of Joel. But I don't find this decision believable. Just think about it: she has left Dina knowing she is unlikely to ever see her again, she took a hike to Santa-Barbara, which is presumably far from home, she had gone through thugs in Santa-Barbara while being injured, then she forced Abby to fight and just couldn't finish? I guess it is all about her regret of killing Abby's friends which we could see after she did that but it just doesn't line up for me: if she felt regretful for carrying the revenge, then why she left everything she had behind for the sake of this revenge even when she had a great opportunity to start a new happy life? if she is not regretful and still full of the urge to avenge Joel, keep her promise to Tommy then why she choked in the very last moment? Was this last revenge journey this long for her to change her mind, did it happen in the very end? Why then? I can't comprehend this myself and I don't really believe in it. Or maybe I don't want to believe in - I don't know. Still, I would like it to end differently.

    Overall, my experience with this game was better than with the first one. This one had some ups and downs with it, downs mostly on gameplay part for me. I would give this game either 8 or 8.5 but I would round it up to 9 because of these review bombers.    … Expand

    I just finished the game. As I’m a big fan of the first game and I finished it 19 times with all the trophies, I was so hyped about part II and here's my opinion: gameplay and graphics are both amazing and there is no doubt about it. All the mechanisms, the dodge, and all these stuff just make the game more valuable. The story is not as good as the first one but it is still good and itI just finished the game. As I’m a big fan of the first game and I finished it 19 times with all the trophies, I was so hyped about part II and here's my opinion: gameplay and graphics are both amazing and there is no doubt about it.     Нет слов. Игра замечательная. Геймплей на высоком уровне. Про графон вообще молчу. Звуковое сопровождение отличное. А то что можно играть на гитаре - первый раз вижу такое. Поставил бы 100/10 щелкунов но нельзя.

My excitement and hype for the game slowly faded away as I was prepared to be very disappointed. I loved the first game, and I love Naughty Dog's games. So obviously I had to see for myself how bad it could really be.

    And... I just don't get it. This game is absolutely phenomenal. it's got a controversial story for sure, but I loved every bit of it. I don't understand how so many people can be so upset about the direction of the story alone. It's not poorly written. It's every bit as fantastic in it's writing as the first game was. The dialogue, the voice and motion capture acting is top notch. The gameplay is engaging and brutal, just as I expected. I marvel at the technological advancements of the game, they can't be praised enough.

    If you are on the edge on whether you should try the game or not, I say give it a shot. I enjoyed every minute of it and I'm already looking forward to whatever Naughty Dog does next.    … Expand

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
