    Wow that's bad. I mean I've played games with average stories, games with bad stories, but this is single handedly the worst written game I have ever played. This is worse than the story for sonic forces. wow.

    No character development, weak story for a single player. Days gone had a better story then this cringe fked up **** Could't play more then 3h, deleted this crap. Total waste of money. Wait until is 10 bucks or so

    Barely any innovations or cool mechanics like the first game. Horrible plot holes, story elements and token characters that make the game feel less genuine unlike the first one. All of these things just serve as a device to appease a group of people for positive well timed marketing and have no actual place in a highly rated piece of art, which this is not.

    I will at least praise the game for not being terribly buggy, looking and sounding good, having good accessibility options, having acceptable albeit routine combat, and pushing some next-gen graphics on current gen hardware.

    The story, plotting, its characters have a lot of objective flaws and is really bad. Also, the characters are thoroughly unlikable. The ending is completely pointless and fails to provide a satisfying payoff for all the stuff that came before. On a personal note, I don't like how incredibly violent the game is and how evil and stupid the vast majority of the characters are, and how you're forced to actually take control and carry it all out without any kind of agency to make a more positive and hopeful future for yourself and the world's characters. Lastly, I don't know what kind of moral this game is trying to impart on the player and I don't know who needs to hear that message. It isn't profound like the writers think it is - it's the moral of a story that would come out of an episode of Sesame Street.

    PS: I am a lesbian woman, so I am not a trans-phobic or gay bigot, and I am not a virgin. If you think this because you simply disagree with my opinion about this game, then grow the hell up.    … Expand

    I am a massive fan of the first game and have been eagerly waiting for TLOU2. I managed to avoid all spoilers when the leak came out and was lucky to receive my game a day early.
    I will start off with the good aspects of The Last Of Us 2, the graphics look really nice overall. There are moments where a bit less detail was put into them (Like snow falling off trees) but as far as games go,    I am a massive fan of the first game and have been eagerly waiting for TLOU2.     The reason i have given this game such a low score is as follows: (Warning Spoilers ahead)

    I was devastated that Joel was killed off, i was not only upset in the badly scripted way in which he was killed but how early in the game it happened. It's like Joel's character was such a different person from the first game. Of course humans change, but they really REALLY changed his character. He went from someone who was cautious and savvy to someone who blindly follows into dangerous situations.

    As the game played out i was happy to see a gay person was being given some love on screen. Its nice to see my people in games, but the more i played, the more it became clear this wasn't Story first, sexuality second, it was full-blown IN YOUR FACE GAYNESS, the type i smell a mile away, the type that has an agenda behind it. I felt sick how badly this will set us back in the real world.

    I feel the game has a totally different team than the original classic game and i was correct. I feel the old team were booted out, in favour of a more inclusive team, (Not better.....not even as good, just inclusive) which in layman's terms means people given a job based on their pronouns rather than skills. It means that us gamers suffer in the long run as you find stories suffer for it, and 9 times out of 10 have an agenda behind it.

    Do they think they are helping us gay people? because they most certainly are not. Have they seen the backlash on here, twitter and youtube? This game has single-handedly set gay people back years and made thousands of people homophobic as it seems big companies are playing favourites to gay people over just being fair. How stupid can they be? This is not how you win people around on our struggle.
    The last of us 2 plays every card it can to upset anyone who isn't gay. I was so upset seeing gay people having sex in a way that just seemed bent on inflaming the gamers that paid so much money to play this political nonsense.

    I looked deeper tonight and found out that lead dev Neil Druckmann made the work environment hostile so that many of his team left. I feel this was a tactic to replace an excellent team with people he feels fit his politics. I went on to see Neil talking kindly about a well known far-left activist and anti-men YouTuber who has made it her goal to make sure games are diluted down, where everyone is gender-neutral and plain looking. Where men are feminine and women are always empowered, especially gay people and people of colour.

    I would not be so harsh on this if it wasn't for the fact that these far-left activists always infiltrate already establish games and force identity politics into them like a plague. They would not have the guts to make a game from scratch as no one would buy it, but with an established game the fans are guaranteed to purchase it by the millions no matter what.

    Shame on Neil Druckmann for treating the fans this way.

You might not like the story but it delivers a greatly important comment on revenge; on how it can be futile at best and destructive for everyone at worst. How do you create a game which is visually excellent, has open world game play, crafting, riding on the coat tail legacy of a popular predecessor, with beloved characters, and turn it into a 4-5 out of 10 game; simple, give your audience the middle finger with an insultingly bad story line which seeks to subvert expectations for the sake of doing so, with no regard for enjoyment or satisfaction of your end user customer. The story takes a huge dump on the characters that were loved in the first game.

    The previews of the game are misleading when compared to what was actually released, giving the impression that both main characters would feature prominently in the game only for one to be needlessly killed.

    The only thing saving the game from a score under 4 is that the actual game play and visuals are pretty well done and high quality.

    The ending is also a complete disappointment with perhaps the most unsatisfying end which I have seen in a long time. It makes me ask the question; what has happened to an industry that deliberately sets out to disappoint the player? They knew this would anger people and yet went the way they did anyway.    … Expand

    I wouldn't give a "1", except for the fact that they false advertised, and wasted my money. When there is a delta of 6 points between the critic score and the user score, that means they paid those critics. I was LIED TO and STOLEN from by Naughty Dog and Sony. How is this allowed?

    I later bought the game was an absolute masterpiece and still is.
    The statue of Joel & Ellie sits proudly on my book shelf.
    Fast forward 2020 what ND did to the story and the characters in Lou 2 is a f crime.

    Well, they left aside key elements of the previous game. Not so much improvent in gameplay as was shown in E3. It is close as an "ok" game, just close.
    Storytelling it's quite poor compared to it's predecessor.

    Good graphics, for me I get bored of doing the same and same over and over...jump here jump there, go through this hole then jump....then loot here loot there that's is the game...then the story which I liked but I get why people is upset. BUT there is not way this game is a 10....not even close.

    The Story is absolutely depressing and utterly ruins everything I loved about TLOU 1
    I won't spoil the game for those that want to play it so no spoilers here

    The only good thing I can say is that the Graphics are amazing in this sequel and some of the mechanics that have been added are nice too

    As I said in my review of TLOU, I enjoyed the game because of the story. I gave it a 10 even though I didn't find the game play anything to write home about. The story was so good that it was enough to be one of my all time favorite game.

    So my expectations for TLOU2's story especially was so high. I was excited to see where Ellie and Joel's adventure is going to go. When I first saw    As I said in my review of TLOU, I enjoyed the game because of the story. I gave it a 10 even though I didn't find the game play anything to write home about. The story was so good that it was enough to be one of my all time favorite game.

    So my expectations for TLOU2's story especially was so high. I was excited to see where Ellie and Joel's adventure is going to go. When I first saw that we will see an adult Ellie, I was already a little unhappy because I want to play more as teenage Ellie. I also want to see how Joel and Ellie's relationship develops further. I want to see Joel play a father figure. A side of him that was brutally ended when he lost Sarah. We didn't get to see Joel as a father outside of the times when he was too busy trying to survive the zombie apocalypse.

    Ultimately, the story went so far the opposite of what I expected and I don't have a problem with that if it makes sense and told in a good way. The whole direction that they decided to go is just unbelievable.

    I understand that we don't have a choice in this game. It is a narrative based game. I don't appreciate to be told that I'm a bad person when I wasn't given a choice of what to do. The game is so condescending to the player. I'm not sure about anybody else, I did not enjoy the excessive violent. Sure the first game was violent but not like this. Plus, it was more about surviving zombies. Here, it's more fighting humans and the zombies are just background nuisance that you have to deal with.

    The game play and graphic are not enough to save the awful story. I can't recommend this game because it is not fun and not very compelling if they're going to tell an emotional or complex moral story. Just not believable.    … Expand

Now on this one, technically speaking, this game looks awesome, but TLOS was never about the graphic details and was always about the story. I understand that ND tried to portrait the neverending cycle of violence when someone pushes that violence on others (Joel and Ellie on many NPCs on the first game). But you (ND) have to understand that it was inevitable that I, as a gamer created bonds with these characters. You simply cannot get to kill Joel on TLOU2 with all that gore and get away with that.     Stupid characters, boring and empty story, almost the same gameplay as in first part,but good graphics. I bought it for half of the price and already regret it. 

    Unfortunately PS does not allow me to refund money otherwise I would already refund all I paid for this game. It is just so boring and not interesting.

For me gameplay was good playing as both characters was not the worse thing but i struggled to play for more than 2 hours at a time . narrative was disgusting and it ruined the entire game. Not worth your money guys and even when it get mayor discounts soon. It wont be worth tour time. Trust me the score is nothing metacritic deletes lots of negative reviews it was 1,5 before all of it... If you want an honest review you should check youtubers take on it like angry joe's review or ign japan...     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Game is beautiful, probably the best looking game on stock PS4. The animation are sometimes a little off and there are a few bugs here and there but overall, it's way ahead of most of the games on this subject.

    Music are almost non existent which is a shame since the first game had some nice ones.

    Gameplay isn't bad but it's very simple, just an updated copy of the gameplay from the first game which was OK in 2013 but already not memorable. The reason people still liked the first game is that the gameplay wasn't that important, what was important in TLOU was the writing, the story, the characters. And this is where it gets ugly.

    One character aside, the cast is dull. You couldn't even describe the characters otherwise than by saying "it's that guy wearing a hat" or "it's that Asian looking guy". The characters aren't badly written, they're not written at all. Oh, my bad, Ellie is written : they gave her tons of hobbies to fill the void in the writing but it simply doesn't work. You can't be a good guitar player, song writer, astronomy expert, comics nerd, good drawing artist, hand to hand combat expert, pro sniper and bow shooter all at the same time. It's ridiculous and it doesn't make her more real, that's just pure failed writing. Also, the way she talks with Dina make them sound like they actually lived in the "old world" which is even more shocking since the fact she was so clueless on the subject in the first game was so evident in he conversation with Joel.

    All the good ideas from the first game in terms of rhythm and storytelling, like the short and almost entirely playable introduction are gone. Now you have to endure long and useless scenes where you can only walk ALL THE TIME and the game takes forever to really start. Most important events are badly timed, they happen too soon or too late so they have almost no impact on what you feel. The game completely lacks that feeling from the first one where you feel like you're there, in the game, living the same adventure the characters do. Instead of that, it's like you're watching people you don't care about act from far away. Plus some scenes are so bad, so outdated, they feel like a Seinfeld episode in term of directing.

    And what about that stupid idea of forcing you to play with the antagonist for HALF THE GAME. Yes, everyone understood why, it's so obvious you can't misunderstand it, that's not the issue, the issue is that it's a stupid idea. That's not what the players were told, they were all thinking that this game would be TLOU but with Ellie as a main character which is not the case. They lied to the players, pure and simple. On top of that, you can also add that the game is long for absolutely no reason (the story is so simple and the gameplay so limited, you want the game to end after like 10 hours) which makes this part of the game even more boring.

    Let's not forget "the message" the game is trying to push on you. It's so obvious, so awkward, so contradicting, cringe and illogical, it simply doesn't make any sense, the writer obviously wanted to do something deep but failed to grasp the gist of it resulting in a really stupid conclusion.

    The Last of Us is one of my favorite game ever. When the second one was announced, I tried very hard not to get my hopes up because I knew making a sequel at least as good as the first one would be difficult. I avoided all spoilers and drama but even with all these precaution, I've never been so disappointed by a game. This is a unexplainable and unforgivable waste.

    I gave it 1 because I acknowledge all the hard work the 3D artists, devs and such put in the game but I can't give it more because TLOU2 is abysmal compared to the first one.    … Expand

    The reason I rated this 0 is because of the stupid story decisions they made, I won't spoil anything here but I didn't like the story at all, .

Up to this point, id never think that killing the protagonist of a prequel right off in the beginning would be that badly received, assuming there have been a number of games with similar formula, which were successful. But when the storywriters are doing this just go bring up a vendetta story, presented in a very dull and filled with plotholes way, this bad reception comes as no surprise to almost everyone.

    There are probably a million paths the storywriters could have gone here, so that it would please everyone, even by repeating the story of the first game, and it would have been far more worth time investing in playing this game, than now.

    While the graphics are 9/10, everything else is absolute bonkers.

    enemy variety 2/10 - barely added new enemies since game 1- they could have added more types of zombies with different abilities/approach to kill them

    main characters 1/10 - post apolyptic scene with characters whose sole purpose is to hunt each-other down? First game the protagonists were survivors, which had their flaws, but you as player easily sympathized with them. This sequel here feels like cat and mouse game, where the surviving part is almost non existent.

    storyline 1/10 - whoever wrote this, should not be hired by ANY game dev company.


    It saddens me to write all this, as the first game was one of the most touching and mastetfully made I've had the pleasure to play.
    But game is a true franchise destroyer - doubtful there will ever be TLOU 3.    … Expand
