Complaints about the story being bad are almost always related to one big spoiler that made many fans decide that if something you don't like happens in a story, it means its a bad story. However this is one of the best games I have ever played, the graphics are absolutely insane, all of the acting is perfect and you really believe in every character and side character. This is a game that wants to make its audience uncomfortable, something that few storytellers will do nowadays. This isn't another game that just has you mindlessly kill every faceless enemy in your path without consequence. Sure, you do have to slaughter just about everyone, but the game pretty readily shows you the consequences of your actions and that the enemies you kill are real humans. The Last of Us II has some of the most horrifying and simultaneously incredible shows of violence on a great scale I've seen in a video game, scenes that you walk through and think "Jesus, this is horrible and beautiful". The gameplay itself is much of the same from the first game but improved, stealth has more options and combat feels even more brutal. Less of the boring physics "puzzles" from the first game involving pallets and ladders. Anyone with an open mind and understanding of the most basic storytelling principles should ignore the 0/10 reviews, avoid the spoilers, and give this game a try.     Probably one of the worst games I've played. Yes the story is bad and naughty dog has made a terrible decision. But alot of the problem is gameplay. The gun play feels like the same terrible 3rd person shooter that they've been doing. It feels like uncharted 1 still. Or even worse it feels like days gone

    Почему я поставил этой игре 4/10 есть две причины
    Первая это продажные журналисты,вроде Лехи Айтипедии,Логвинова и Дрюзея,к примеру моим словам возьмём Лёху Айтипедию,он в своём обзоре говорил что он сочувствует Госпоже Халк (Эбби),однако если вспомнить начало игры,то именно она убила Джойла (протогониста первой части) и после этого ей невозможно сочувствовать и в конце игры Элли просто её отпускает,серёзно?И эти журналюги говорят что Нил Дракман гений а ещё игра испорчена ЛГБТ пропогандой (спасибо госпоже Саркисьян(сарказм))

    The game has a good mechanic , takes you back on the relationship Joel and Ellie had, but that’s it. It takes too long to finish, and gives you a simplistic ending. I’m sorry , but this game deserves better. If it were to end this why, you should’ve stopped in the first one.

Ellie decides not to kill Abby and loses everything. Abby kills Joel and finishes the game going to rejoin the group of Fireflies she wanted. Not a sign of regret, not a sign of questioning about what she made. So, Drunkman, how is that 'being fair to the character' when the character we love ends losing everything and doesn't even complete her revenge? How is that being fair, letting Abby go away to rejoin the Fireflies after what happened? This is a masterpiece of s**t and hypocrisy. There is no happy ending for TLOU2? The story was absolutely abysmal, so forcefully PC that I actually physically cringed several times and by the end, I just honestly felt like I had wasted both my time and money on it.     I was so hyped for this game I thought it was good until they force you to play Abby for 10 hours and play through her story which i really didn't care about. Game mechanics was amazing... story for this game though was a big disappointment I would never play this game again worst story telling i have ever witnessed

    I really can't find the words to describe how disappointed I am with this game. I have never considered returning a game since I started playing video games in the year 2000, until I played last of us 2

    After recently playing games such as red dead redemption 2 and god of war, playing his game felt like falling from a cliff and bumping your head and face 10 times until you hit the tarmac.

    I really wish I could under what I saw in this game, I really wish this sad excuse of a game never existed.

    Imagine working in Naughty dog for 7 years just to come up with a game like this. Sad. I feel bad for all the people working there that had different opinions but couldn't say much.    … Expand

    What a let-down. Too much hype for a cringe story that doesn't make sense at all.
    If it's a stand-alone game maybe I'll give it 6. However, as a direct sequel for the legendary last of us part 1 -- this is just a total let down.

    Im gonna preface this by saying i didn't finish it, i didn't even get very far. The characters are horrible and the story is bland. I think this was just project to see how woke you could make a game. Its just a shame that it had to ruin one of my favorite games to flaunt their SJW crap.

Neil Druckman filled the game with left bias policies, destroyed the character of Ellen we know from the first game, in that she was cool, persistent, faithful, loyal and had a focus on her goal, in this game right at the beginning shows an Ellen spoiled, with no respect for others, because although the bartender was wrong to judge her, he tries to redeem himself by even making a snack, which she calls him precociousituiche. She gets freaky and doesn't want to talk to Joel who just treats her like a daughter. At all times there is a force of the bar, Joel appears to be a childish and foolish ingenuity, his death occurred in a light and banal way, it could have occurred but respecting the player's intelligence. Naughty Dog Stop this SJW and focus on gameplay again. PS: Neil Druckman claims to be a champion of women but he didn't think twice about taking the position that belonged to Amy Hennig in Uncharted.… Expand

    The worst sequel to anything ever. Terrible, horrendous, story. Refunded the game as soon as i finished it and i never do that. Love the first game, this game- naw dog. Dont play it if you liked the first game. Came back to write this review after watching a couple episodes of the show and rewatching clips of the second game. Reminded me how bad the game really was.

    If you enjoyed the first game. Avoid this at all cost. Trust me. There is NOTHING worth your time here. Everything is 10/10 in this game besides the story and characters. Those are 1/10.

    I put 1 point. And this is without taking into account the excellent work of everyone who worked on the technical part of the game. Great acting. Incredible character animation. Great music and sound overall. But... all this loses its meaning if you are presented with crap in a nice wrapper.
    And all because of a terrible scenario.

    If you do start, be prepared that in the middle of the game they will give you a bucket of **** and say: "Eat this!"
    You will be forced to do things that are not interesting to you or even disgusting. You will hope that it will end quickly, but no - the bucket of **** will have to be eaten completely.
    And when the story is approaching the end, you will have one wish - let it end as soon as possible. You will be sick of the meaningless and aimless action in which you will participate. And the credits will be a relief.

    The moral of the story is primitive and stupid. It's a shame for the authors that they put everything on this childish rule: "It's bad to be bad, it's good to be good."

    If you liked the first part, then I do not recommend playing "The Last of Us. Part 2".

When you play video games, you play them to go up against fictional, mostly nameless baddies. Persona games you go up against demons and other personas, God of War you go up against supernatural fodder, Divinity Original Sin 2 you go up against Voidwoken and Zealot Magisters who want to see you hung with insane veracity, etc. Even TLou primarily focused on the infected and when it was human enemies they were so absurd that you were up against a cannibal cult leader who wanted to marry a 10 year old. The reason this is the case is so that games are an escape from the day to day grind and you have avenues to let out aggression on sprites in healthy ways.

    The TLou2 gives you that in the first few hours and feels like a pretty damn good game. When you're going up against the infected, it's everything I would want it to be. Fun, fast paced, stealth based, etc. Then... the game goes loopty f*** and you're doing things that are unnecessary. Killing a pregnant woman, killing humans and animals where you actually hear the pain in the other people's voices of losing their friends, etc. At the end of the game all you have to show for it is everyone who was a lead character is either broken or dead. There is no hope, there is no love, there is no compassion. It's... a very nihilistic point of view. Playing the game when you started dealing with the Washington Liberation enemies started feeling like watching the original Martyrs, and that movie turned me off horror films. So, good job. You created a game with something to say. Only in trying to express progressive views and thought provoking ideas, all you achieved was hate and loss.    … Expand

    And as for the gameplay. You would have more fun moving the cursor up and down the menus. The interactivity doesnt get much beyond that.

They basically threw everything out the window for the sequel.     The gameplay is well honestly it didn't do much to change or enhance what was already present from the first game in any meaningful way. Sure its smooth, can be fun and of course well done for what it is but that was to be expected I would think.

    This game franchise from day one for me has always been about the story.

    Unfortunately I found this story to be very poorly paced and delivered the big moments in a way that even though you want to sympathize with the characters involved you just can't because the new characters didn't get the same treatment and ND storytelling magic (That use used to be known for) that Joel, Tommy and Sarah got in the first game where in the first 20 minutes you went through so many emotions and it left you crying like a baby before the game actually even starts. Because of that and the fact that the big moment happens so quickly you have almost no time to build a true emotional bond with the new characters and all you can do is hate them and every action the game forces you to take there after all the way up to the end where the payoff is nil of any meaning to all that came before. It's not a good or unique revenge story in the end if anything it pushes the revenge to long and too hard for the ending to be what it was. No, they get it for free and just shill their products so that we buy them.

    The truth is, if we really wanted to get our point across there is only one way. We have to ignore them and simply act as if they don't exist. Even hating the products and spreading outrage is enough for these cretins to continue doing things like this since outrage sells. Imagine if they release the game, no one complained, and at the same time no one bought it. That would really be the only way to stop these things from happening.

    The characters from the last game are unrecognizable. The new characters are not likable on any level. That on itself could be excused if the plot was worthwile which it unfortunately is not. It's like the #1 priority was to write something unexpected. I am dismayed that this was made by the same studio that made TloU1 and the Uncharted series. 3 points for the graphics and servicable gameplay.

Meanwhile dank memes flowed on subforums, and Sony hired third party goons who sent out illegal DCMA takedowns against youtubers and redditors. That made the trolls even more determined expose The Last of Us 2 for what it was. They even used super harsh embargos on pre-release/view copies while sold-out media jurnos gave it 100%s for fear of being blacklisted by Sony.

    Sad to say but this game is beyond tainted. I'm done with anything Naughty Dog or Neil Druckmann related. I couldn't stomach The Last of Us 2 after the first hour in, and thanks to the garbage people involved with the project, I didn't want to give it a second chance. This has been an embarrassment for the entire industry. Nothing stunning and brave about rushing this out just in time for "everything is gay" month of June. The disgusting portrayal of this patchwork abortion doesn't do the original Last of Us any justice or its fans what so ever. I'll give it a 1 out of 10 for nice graphics, but they couldn't even get that right since they never hit 60fps. Two thumbs down.    … Expand

    But the fact that suspension of disbelief, the very most important fundament of this kind of art, is completly detroyed half-way into the game, transforms it into a simpleton arcady flick for half the time you will be playing it. In the end, its a game that's brilliant because of story and immersion, but that is rendered null half way into it, leaving you with the same feeling you would if you left the theater in the midlle of a movie you love.

Not only was a likable character from the first game killed off, but you are expected to sympathize with his killer! The presentation of the story is very pretentious and the gameplay isn't much better. I was so fed up with the game several hours in that I just watched my favorite streamer complete the rest so that I could laugh at it in peace. The game tries too hard (unsuccessfully) to make us sympathize with a character that we absolutely cannot forgive. I think Naughty dog can fix the problem with the story very easily. First, get rid of the 10 hours of TORTURE with Abby and give the players a choice to kill or not kill Abby. That's it. OR at least show Abby being conflicted about killing Joel (cuz he saved that **** and get rid of the torture if you want the player to sympathize with her.

    I would firstly say that the graphics on this game are the best in any game ever made period 10/10. The game-play is 90% the same as the first game so its great 9.5/10. The cinematography was amazing as well as the background score 9/10. When you play the game you will be amazed by the how detailed, realistic and phenomenal the world looks. The attention to detail is amazing! the grass moves realistically when you move on it, as does the water, each NPC has a name which their friends call them when you kill them and soooo much more. Naughty Dog has always delivered in these areas.
    The biggest flaw in the game is the story. The game present you with a despicable character (Abby) who tortures and kills Joel main protagonist while another spits on his corps. This does what its supposed to do, this builds up extreme anger in you towards Abby. So for you the only purpose of the game is to take revenge. You travel a long and fun journey to get to Abby. But when you do get to her, the game Forces you to play as this uninteresting character for more than TEN HOURS! during these 10 hours your only thought is to get it over with so you can finally kill Abby. But THEN the game MAKES YOU fight the only likable character left (Ellie). After you've beaten your favorite character and her pregnant girlfriend half to death and killing another friend of hers. You Finally get to play as Ellie for a short while and see that she has a good life and then the game makes you play as Abby AGAIN! Abby gets caught by some psychos, you leave to kill her for good this time, you catch her, you almost kill her and then...U don't. Because, you only wanted to kill tens of innocents for Joel's death but not the one that killed him. U get back home to find out that Ellie's girlfriend is gone as well. End of story.    … Expand

The writing ruined it all for me. What's the point of the trailer if you're going to only deceive the players? Shock value? It feels like I'm just watching a movie and I can't really do anything about it.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
