    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some reasons why i hated the game:
    1. False advertising.
    I avoided the leaks and pre-ordered the game. So, the only information I had about the game were from the trailers which clearly but deceptively showed that Joel would be a part of certain parts of the game. Except they killed him off within the first two hours, replaced him with another character and put his scenes as flashbacks even though the trailer showed him and Ellie as being older. At the moment they killed him off in the story I would have returned the game but trusting Naughty Dog and the professional reviews I had pre-ordered the digital copy so I was stuck with it and continued playing becoming more disappointed as the hours passed.

    2. The incoherence of Joel and Tommie’s characters which leads to Joel’s death.
    Both characters have survived decades in the postapocalyptic world, yet they stupidly follow an armed group down to the basement and then tell them who they are and where exactly they live. It doesn’t make sense. Why don’t they question why this armed group is so close to their settlement? Why don’t they assume they are some sort of raiders? Why were they not prepared in case these were bad people? Is this the same cautious and intelligent Joel that ran over a man pretending to beg for help for an ambush?
    A common response I’ve heard is that they became soft after the years of peace they’ve lived in. But being soft doesn’t mean being stupid. Also, the game itself contradicts this characteristic of Joel because in the game Ellie wears a gas mask, why? Because of Joel’s cautiousness! It is literally explained in a flashback that Joel does not allow her to tell anyone she is infected not even her friends and Joel tells her to wear a gas mask to which she replies no one is going to see her but Joel argues that they might run into someone.

    3. Abby.
    Our introduction to Abby is when Joel rescues her from being killed by the infected and then her immediately brutally torturing and killing him. This alone is reason enough for me to hate this character.
    The reason they give for her doing this does not justify it. Basically, Joel killed her dad and she was out for revenge. Except we know that Joel killed her dad in self-defence and her dad was trying to kill Ellie for a cure without her consent. Even the game shows that Abbie used the golden rule of “do unto others what you would want done unto you” to support her dad in killing Ellie arguing something like “if it was me, I would want you to do it.” Neither she nor her dad even wanted to give Ellie the choice. So, both Abbie and her dad are introduced as sadistic psychopaths.
    Someone might argue that Joel was also a sadistic psychopath, except as far as i remember, in the entire first game Joel only kills those who attack or threaten him and Ellie first. So, no he can’t be compared to Abby and her dad.
    And we are forced to play as her for 10+ hours.

    4. Gameplay.
    It’s the same gameplay as the first game. Except, in most cases, you can literally run past all the enemies then just jump over a ledge, climb something, go over a windowsill or most commonly hold triangle to open a blocked door. During the final sections playing as Ellie, I didn’t fire a single shot or kill a single enemy, I just rushed through. If I enjoyed the story and liked the characters then I would have played through properly but all I wanted was for it to end. Little did I know the ending was worse than I could imagine…

    5. The ending.
    The moral of the game is that revenge is bad. But at no point does Abbie show any remorse for killing Joel, she doesn’t suffer instead dozens of other people are killed by Ellie and co. Then at the end Ellie doesn’t kill Abby rather she actually saves her! Ellie ruins her own life and risks it in order to save Abby. She didn’t even have to take revenge, she just had to not get involved or walk away and Abby would have died.

    Conclusion
    I could write a lot more criticisms of this game such as it being an SJW’s wet dream and how they ruined Ellie’s character but at this point I just want to forget it existed. I hated it so much that it even ruined my like for the first game because I know it leads up to this garbage.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game would have gotten a 4 maybe 5 out of 10, but it is so bad that i couldn’t even finish my new game+. I beat it on survivor so there are some pretty tough parts that are challenging. It seemed more like a chore to play the game as I had wasted 60 dollars on it with a digital pre order. I couldn’t go through the story a second time. It’s just so bad. There is so much wasted potential with the game. The game is horrible so much that I didn’t even want to play the first one anymore. I took time to download the first one then thought what is the point of even playing it. That’s how bad this game is. It has completely ruined the entire franchise. I cannot even play the first the last of us. The story made me cringe. The love triangles were not necessary. The choices people made are bad, Mel being pregnant. I think they could have done a way better job with the story. Graphics are nice, gameplay is good but sometimes a little glitchy where I couldn’t see the NPCs or they randomly show up in front of me. There were times when I would be sneaking and get noticed by someone not there. It makes that weird sound when your spotted that happened so many times that made me think who the f*** spotted me. Also the dodge command seemed to be broken. I would press it and nothing happened next thing I know I’m getting shredded by a runner. Gameplay could have been better. I wanted to give 5/10 but just can’t because as I was writing this i remembered all the BS i was put through with mechanics.… Expand

I dont mind the fact that joel died its just the way the killed him just made me hat the story and the fact that you play as ellie and travel across the country kill so many people but you find the person responsible for Joel’s death but you let them go and i hate the fact that you play more as abby than ellie… Expand

    Graphics top notch but the story felt jarring and disconnected. It's like-god forbid-Nolan's Memento or sonething. Anyway, it could have been a mastetpiece if they tweaked some sections to let the characters grow in thevplayer's hearts, not just throw a death at the beginning for shock value.     Solo es entender la historia para saber que destruye todo lo que el primer juego creó, el final... es decepcionante sientes como si todo lo que hiciste en el juego fuera una perdida de tiempo

    Very bad story. A steep decline from the original. If you want to play a lesbian girl and hear yourself talk about the kiss last night - then this is the game for you! If you want shooting and adventure - then look somewhere else.
    It seems like the Naughty Dog guys want to bury this series too, the same way they did with Uncharted.
    Pity.

It is even hard to sell this thing online. Sold the cd online after 7 days. Watched the entire story from a streamer. It is a propaganda movie. A branching ending could have been good by giving the players the option to kill or not to kill Abby the hulk. The story is bad.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story sucked which made the game horrible. Was the whole 2nd act trying to make you sympathetic to Abby? Cuz it didn’t work on me at all. I did not care for Abby and her child murdering dad at all. That whole arc with her was annoying, a waste of time, and practically unplayable. Hard to play when you’re consistently rooting for the character you’re playing with to die slow. I was rooting for all Abby’s crew to die slow too. Mel was right, Abby is a POS. Even near the end of Seattle I was elated when Tommy got Manny but then Abby shoots Tommy and you still have to play as her to fight Ellie?! BS! The ending is of course horrible and unsatisfying. Complete waste waste of everyone’s time. Only remotely satisfying thing was letting Abby die slow and get killed multiple times. If there was a shorter version where you skip all of the 2nd Act, then skip to Santa Barbara and Ellie either leaves Abby to be tortured or drowns her, or at least blow up her leg like she did Joel, so she wouldn’t last much longer, at least that would be a ok game, even if it was like 1/2 as long.… Expand

    Sesenta dólares a la basura.
    Un guión pobre y mal hecho personajes planos y un asco en comparación con el primer juego, me quedo corto pero bueno piden cierto número de caracteres para postear un crítica así que lo rellenare como esas 10 ptas horas que te obligan a jugar con abby un personaje totalmente mal construido.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I felt compelled to write a review. I’ve never written one before. Last of us 2 is beautiful. The level design is compelling and the character models are fluid and amazing. Maybe the best I’ve ever seen. The music is so well done. I loved every moment from the subtle build in the background to the audio queues that indicated different things. The game is stunning. I know a lot of people are angry and yelling. Unfortunately, that’s what gets attention. So when many say they are dissatisfied and disappointed in the story development it’s glossed over by the raving mad men. But if we’re being honest, the attention to detail is so stunning, that the creators decided to just hurt anyone who cared about the characters from the original game. To me it felt very “subvert expectations.” The train wreck that was GOT final season as an example. My issues with the game was that it actually was painful to play. Like I tried to “care” about abby and the whole sudden friendship with lev and yara. But I couldn’t care less. And in LOU 1 I cared more about the guy and his little brother that you only spend an hour of gameplay with. So it’s not that they don’t know how to write compelling characters, I feel they just wanted us to be conflicted. As soon as I took over the game as abby, I lost all interest in the game. For one, she was obviously not a murderous unsympathetic person. After all, look what she does for lev and yara. But you’re telling us that she will brutalize a man in front of his “daughter” basically. On top of that, we find out she knows exactly why he killed her father. She saw even them conflicted about killing Ellie for a “cure.” She obviously knew they didn’t even ask Joel, or Ellie if killing her was fine. The fact that she is shown at the beginning as a heartless killer of one of the most beloved characters is a completely acceptable story telling mechanic. But you then ask the gamer to play more than half their time as this person, like they would care at all. Did anyone care for cercei in GOT? You even force them to cat and mouse against Ellie. I litterally remember thinking If I just fail here, can that be the “good end.” All this to just say that the reason I felt that way was because the story was bad. It felt like you didn’t care about us. Just like we didn’t care about abby. The saddest part I think i saw was Druckmann just said “it’s just a video game” in response to some troll comments. But honestly that is kinda how it felt the game was made. Here’s something to think about though. A video game, movie, tv show, or any form of art can transcend a person. You likely can recall amazing journeys you’ve been on because of “just a video game.” So the fact that it felt like the whole game was a brutal journey, with literally no outcome of any kind, just sucked. We know that Druckmann knew what the audience wanted. With the last memory Ellie has of Joel. Where she says she will try to move forward and forgive him. I feel bad for anyone who loved Joel and Ellie for years after the first. Because they were done dirty with nothing of substance when it was all over. When Ellie loses her fingers and then Dina and can’t play guitar anymore, I truly thought to myself “so the creators just want you to feel like absolute trash by the end of this.” I loved the depth from the first one. The ability to feel connected to a character. I never had this in this one. The fact that we ultimately learn Ellie and joel were on good terms when he died and that she already knew the truth about the “cure” still didn’t make the story of her savagery at the end compelling. I think the last of us had such a human and even merciful feel at its core. We couldn’t help but bond with them. And that died in part 2. In the last of us part 2, the last of us truly died.… Expand

Control Abby to kill Ellie? excuse me? I don't even want to play section of abby. There is really no feeling for abby . ending just a **** mess btw.

    It's like a street thug appears with a baseball in Infinity War right at the beginning and beats the crap out of Stark...and he dies. I know it's GOTY, most awarded game, blah blah and other **** But I think I was generous enough to give it a 2/10, maybe because of a 10/10 prequel.

I found it insulting to my (player's) intelligence when the game assumes you are easily impressionable and haven't made any ethical thinking on your own in your life. I don't need a elementary school grade lecture from any medium. If I were, I wouldn't play Last of Us and instead would go and read Aesop's fables which have more subtlety in writing. As it is, Last of Us Part 2 feels like it is written by an art-school student who thinks they are being profound with their edgy shortfilm.… Expand

    The critics and reviews are the worse, dont get me all wrong, the gameplay are marvelous, but because abby is a gameplay half of the game ruins it,, and thats the fact,, i wish they dont even make another sequel like this one ever again. Worst game story sequel ever,,

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really wanted this game to be good, and I defended it before it came out. Now I just feel like an idiot for having spent 60$ on it. The SJW agenda is immense, and it absolutely does detract from the story. Gratuitous lesbian sex scenes along with completely unrelated storyline about a persecuted transgender character that clogs up hours of the game.

    But that's not even why the game isn't fun. The combat is better than it was in the last game by far, but the writing is so self absorbed that it forgot it was a video game. You will barely be able to play it because the game keeps taking you out of the action to show you hourlong flashback sequences about characters you despise, but the writer thinks you should care about. The relationship between Joel and Elle in the first game developed naturally over the course of the campaign, while this story immediately goes "here is Dina, a bisexual Jewish woman who can tell you about the holocaust, please like her"

    The pacing is the worst I've ever experienced in a game, and it makes the idea of a second playthrough torturous. Dont make the same mistake I did. Go buy a different game that's actually fun.    … Expand

    Mental Trauma ALERT!!!! If you played the first game and never experienced depression before, go ahead and spend 60 bucks to get it, but don't say you haven't been warned.
    Game play is old, not much new, Beautiful visuals and thats all the good things.
    For things that are bad, i don't even......
    Apologies for the visual team but for the trauma this game brought me, 1 star is generous!

    The las of us 2 has a great game play, nice and interestig mechanics to enjoy but the these pale when you have a story so poorly thought    Sadly, I couldn't even finish the game due to how badly it felt the story had turned... and that is something that rarely happens to me. I honestly can't remember when was the last time I left a game unfinished for weeks and felt like not playing it.

Shows how the writer hated these characters from the first game. The story is so forced and the politics is so obvious. The game play is similar to the first game with some improvements but I think giving so much options in the settings is confusing. It made me ask continuously throughout the entire game what the best settings are. I did not play the game for the graphics. I wanted to know what happened to Joel's and Ellie's story after the first game. Players ARE NOT GIVEN OPTIONS to get at least some branching story arcs.     La historia está mal contada , no pueden quitar al personaje principal sin motivos , ni explicación, a las primeras 2 horas de juego . Arruinaron la historia y no vale la pena una 3 entrega , los gráficos están bien , el audio es bueno , tiene mapas grandes con pocos enemigos.

Все что не касается сюжета - на самом высшем уровне. Но сюжет просто ужасный. Был 2013 год, я с трясущимися руками прохожу первую часть. Это было великолепное приключение которое закончилось хеппи-эндом. Я даже не думал о возможности продолжения. История была законченной. Я ждал от naugty dog продолжений Uncharted, но никак не Одних из нас. Зачем? Вы хотели прочитать мораль игрокам, как родители? Надменно показав, что плохо, а что хорошо? Дело все в том, что почти все игроки не согласны с вашим видением истории. После прохождения первой части, я знал, что Джоел добрый и он любит Элли. И да, многие моменты вы сделали верно. В финальной драке я не хотел убивать Эбби. Я продолжал жать кнопку, но неосознанно тянул стик назад, как бы оттягивая Элли. И финальная фраза 'Я вряд ли смогу тебя простить". Это говорила не наша, всеми любимая Элли. Это говорили вы, надменные моралисты, которые пытались дать мне какой то урок. Неужели Элли не понимала что Джоел ее любит?     The gameplay and story were both terrible. I couldn't wait for it to end and when I finally finished it, I sold it immediately. Biggest disappointment in years. And no, it has nothing to do with politics. It's just an awful game on its own.

It was cool to show the problem from different perspectives, to make the need to kill Abby not black or white, but all that the creators achieved is my compassion and love to Abby and a strong need to kill that teenage brat Ellie as soon as possible. By going into retrospective mode you give the plotline a wider meaning, but a retrospective of the whole game from Abby's point of view makes you bored and the problem is you already know she's gonna survive since well, it's a retrospective. You know who lives and who dies for 59% of the game. The seraphins? Just a pothole filler. No need for them in the game. Wasted potential of a cult. It exists and dont ask questions. Did Abby seriously not kill Ellie because a child was sad looking at it? Why did nobody die at the end? They've killed so many characters that I became immune to care about any of them. The games mechanics is pretty much the same as in previous part but that's ok - we play Naughty Dog productions for plot. Which sucks. There's too many stupid encounters. You kill 20 people jump out of the window and there's 20 again. After Abby's day 2 I started to not care and just run. What's the point of dogs or arrows stuck in players body? They came up in maybe two scenes just to irritate the heck out of me and be gone. How come Ellie can kill a clicker silently no probs and the Arnold/Abbie NEEDS A GOD DAMN SHIV?! Why change mechanics for different characters? I'm pissed off because of the guys with machetes and axes. He kills you with a single blow, no need to run - he hits you with 3m range. How many times I can't even count I got killed by a guy hitting me in the face with simple fists because he got me cornered and I can't run. There's boss fights in too small areas where you have problems to run, turn around, aim and shoot because before you even start aiming - you are already being eaten by a big zombie. There's too many scenes 'oopsie I'm coming out of the window and somebody out of nowhere attacks me or the ground underneath me is gone.' dozens of them god damn it. I really hope that if there ever will be part 3 it's going to be about Abby and Ellie is going to be 6 feet underground. I don't care about LGBTQ+ perspective in games as long as it's well made and with a point. it makes sense. Ellie being lesbian? Okay, fine, cool idea. Raising a child together? oK, that's life. Cool. That scar kid? That felt unnecessary and pointed out just to smile to some people. Highly disappointed the plot Leaves you at the starting point minus some people.… Expand

    Initially, the gameplay is incredible, I loved the avoidance mechanics and the speed of the fighting and etc., Artificial Intelligence is incredible as they coordinate to flank or make Patrol Routes, the Scenarios are also amazing especially Santa Barbara in the end, however the story disappointed me in some ways, i did like some parts but i was too frustrated with Joel's death, in my opinion they could have better used this great character or at least given a dignified death or even put gameplay with him, Abby seemed having no remorse for killing Joel and looking more like a psychopath with a pleasure in killing, while Ellie regretted and was intent on killing Mel and Owen and almost killing Abby.
    In my opinion it is still worth buying the game because of its fun gameplay, I still have fun today after platinizing and playing several times in testing aggressive stealth fighting and etc.    … Expand

    I really enjoyed the gameplay, visuals and even the plot of this game. But some of the moments were really disgusting. And this was enough to cross out all the positive emotions.

Shadows are really beautiful, but graphics are not as important as plot and gameplay, so I’m really disappointed in this game, not recommended to buy.

    Naughty Dog had a gold mine with Ellie and Joel, but they wasted it for a gruesome, sad and unsatisfying revenge story.

    1 point for the stunning visuals and 1 point for the Ellie and Joel flashbacks.

When I say this, I mean that the perfect cake is the graphics and gameplay. The **** that sits on top of that cake is the story and the characters. Whoever wrote this **** on top of the cake should be ashamed for not even looking at the masterpiece that was The last of us. A simple game about a mission of delivering a girl who you grow attached to. The last of us 2 says hey remember the plot of the first game? well this game is all about revenge! put on your backpack and take your pregnant useless girlfriend.

    Ellie: Remember Ellie? Of course you do. well now she is 18-21 has a tattoo for some reason in an apocalypse. Ellie likes this girl Dina for some reason, apparently, they kissed once. we don't get to see it though until 10 minutes before the game is done. I can see why some people are surprised that Ellie is a lesbian but that is not my problem with it. My problem is that we are to believe that Ellie and Dina loves each other when all we see is one time when they are in a basement smoking weed, they scissor off-screen “remember that off-screen part for when I get to Abby” The writers of this has never heard of show don't tell before. After playing for a bit they start calling each other babe. That is so cringe. You have played the game for 1 hour but and they have been together for 10 minutes of that and they are calling each other babe.
    Joel: Abby comes and kills him after Joel and Tommy saves her life like 10 times. The marketing for this game was all about. Hey, look at how old Joel and Ellie is in this game, isn't that amazing. tricking you into thinking that Joel is going to be in this game. In reality all the marketing showing how much older Joel is were just flashbacks.
    Dina: Useless. She is there for two reasons. she is jewish so she teaches Ellie about religion and she is pregnant. Here is what really confused me. Meet Dina, she is most likely the same age as Ellie 18-21. She was obviously born after the apocalypse happened then. She was born in New Mexico... Jackson the town you start in is in Washington. According to google the distance between is 1490 miles, 2398 km. Dina and her sister apparently went to many synagogues. I just don't believe Dina could have been born in New Mexico and end up in Washington.
    Abby: Where does this **** get her protein? why are her arms so massive? they were so huge everyone thought she was a transgender chick with dick. Why is half of the game playing a character that no one wants? Abby is the **** that killed Joel, so you know how much you want to kill yourself the second you get to play as her. I mean the character not you the person. Abby and her friends are a part of a group/militia called WLF short for Washington liberation front or wolf. Abby has a "friend" called Owen he went AWOL or something. Owen is got Mel one of Abby's sort of friend pregnant. But Owen is into women with muscles because at one point in the game Abby goes to Owen after he went AWOL you have a little argument that you don't care about then Abby and Owen start to kiss. You expect it to be just like Ellie and Dina's scissoring session, but no. They go full **** on you. you get to see Abby take of Owen's shirt and Owen takes off Abby's shirt. Abby quickly takes off her bra and you see Abby's boob. Abby is so buff that it honestly looks more like a dude's saggy man pec. Owen then takes Abby puts her on the table pulls down her pants and unbuckles his belt. you then see Owen thrust into Abby 3 times.     I'll start of by saying I've never done a review on a game, but I couldn't stay quiet on this one. There's plenty of reviews on The Last of Us Part 2 that say what's wrong with the game so I won't go into detail, but I will say that I will personally boycott Naughty Dog what a waste of money. People who claim other people are intolerant because they say there was an agenda at play here are either blind or naive of course there was an agenda here. The last of us part 1 was the reason I decided to purchase the 2nd part and I didn't read into the reviews, what a mistake that was. Next time I will trust the reviews "Gamers" add and forget about company's that are paid off to spew lies. Forgetting the whole agenda thing the story was completely ridiculous why Naughty Dog would take the player through a rollercoaster of nonsense is beyond me. Ah 2020 what a year, World War 3 almost starts Covid, police brutally, idiots trying to dismantle every police force, the koalas, and the death of The Last of Us.

    Naughty seems to have missed what made people love the original game. It wasnt the setting, or the plot, or the gameplay, it was the relationship that grew between the two protagonists. Its the further development of their relationship that many fans, myself included, wanted to see. Thats not what we got. Not even close. Instead we get some confused revenge plot that is not only overdone, but is poorly executed. I left this game feeling bitter, angry and frustrated, and only in retrospect did I realize that I didnt actually enjoy any of my time with it, and that I even regretted playing it. The original story is better left untouched.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
