The developers of this game clearly have zero respect for the Battlefront community. Not only have they repeatedly shown that the entire multiplayer experience is just a money-grab, but the way that they're reacted to this whole controversy just proves that they see customers only for their wallets.

The game isn't actually a 2/10 it's more like a 7-8 but we as a community cannot let developers treat us like this. I have always been against micro-transactions and i was looking forward to this game, but after seeing the way they implemented the microtransactions i cannot in good faith recommend this game

The game play is solid and often fun, but everything good about this game is overshadowed by an infuriating progression system that doesn't reward players for skill or success, and a 'card' based loot box system that produces unsatisfying prizes that are completely random and don't reflect play style. Although the developers have recently suspended the pay-to-win aspects of the game, I have a feeling that they've done so just to limit the damage it would have caused to sales during the Christmas season, and will likely re-instate it once they feel like the controversy has receded. I'm giving it a '2' instead of a '0' because I do find some of the game play to be entertaining, but this could have easily been a '10' if EA hadn't spoiled it.

With this title, EA has reinforced the notion that they are indeed the Comcast of the gaming industry.

To start off I will primarily talk about the game itself and not loot boxes. But before that, the game is heavily revolved around these crappy loot boxes which make going against people feel unbalanced and basically cheating, especially in heroes vs villains and starfighter assault modes. You can tell there was no balance for these modes with the star cards. Now for the game itself, IT ISTo start off I will primarily talk about the game itself and not loot boxes. You can tell there was no balance for these modes with the star cards. Now for the game itself, IT IS HORRIBLY BORING! this game is more boring than the first EA battlefront game! The newly added singleplayer is so predictable and boring, I ask my self why even bother to add it in the first place! Multiplayer.....OMFG, it is so lazy, unbalanced, boring, repetitive, and grindy. The maps get old instantly, I got bored of the game in less than 3 hours! The voice acting for Luke Skywalker, Leia and for Han is SO BAD! Lets also not forget how horrible Luke Skywalker is modeled. This game has very little effort even put into it, Don't just blame EA and LucasArts for this game blame DICE as well because they primarily try to make an excuse for no customization in this game when they can quite clearly make certain trooper types canon, Example they made stormtrooper shock troopers and shadow troopers canon! The last thing is you die SO....FAST it is unbelievable the combat in the OG battlefront is preferred just because you stay alive for much longer than you do in this game, the average lifespan of a trooper is an estimated of 6 seconds a pilot is estimated to be about 2 seconds. The only reason I give this game A 2/10 is that the clone wars voice acting is wonderful! The voice acting for Boba and Yoda is great, nice graphics and sound (which doesn't really mean anything to me since A. its a star wars game and B. its made by DICE having good graphics and sound is to be expected), please for the love of god if you want to play an ACTUALLY GOOD star wars game go on steam or GOG and get the OG battlefront games, the jedi outcast games, republic commando, and/or KOTOR(knights of the old republic) becuase at least games were not made by and for hyper active kids who have the attention span of a fly. DId not enjoy of the whole progression system and lootsboxes at all. Even before all this happened, this game is missing a whole lot when it comes down to battlefield games I known to love. The massive levolutions, being able to hide on top or inside buildings... Levels looks beautiful, but are very empty. OK why can't I go prone?? Parachuting from aircrafts after bailing out, I want a immersive experience. The gameplay doesn't feel as flushed out, a lot of character clipping. Don't like the point system they added for characters and ships. WHY COULDN"T THEY JUST RESKIN BATTLEFIELD 4! It would of been lazy indeed on the developers end, but it would of been much, much more of an enjoyable experience if that were the case.

The game was made so that you spend just long enough on it that you won't get a refund. single player was ok, slightly boring. multiplayer should not even have been attempted. you have extremely boring combat, with no skill required (outside of the capability to shoot your weapon and hit the target) on nearly every level you are forced into small areas when you run up, shoot, maybe kill someone, then get shot *dead* respawn and repeat. there is no variance, there is no variety, there is nothing exciting about that what so ever. There few maps and modes to play, but all gets repetitive quickly due to the mentioned lack of progression.
    - The only positive thing I could say is that the game looks nice (which is why I am giving a 2 instead of a 1). But DICE seems to be falling in disgrace, obviously due to EA, a.k.a. the studio destroyer, the ultimate culprit of this mess.

Please DICE, hear me! Why do you make such a good platform for it to be thrown all away from horrible updates and lack of content.

This review is focused on the multi-player aspects within the game. As far as single-player, that was trash from the beginning. EA should have an entirely separate game for single-player instead of overwhelming themselves with to much content to be made in such a short time.

The least they could do is make their product good (after gobbling our money) They also, forgoed bringing in the clone war DLC and in lieu, they are shoving down the scummy 25$ cosmetic crap and calling it a legacy... I was there for the micro trannys and gambling loot boxes... And came back when they removed it... Too little too late 1.) Abysmal single player 2.) copy pasta of a game: essentially BF2 is battlefield 1 with space wizards and space guns
3.) Anti consumer practices for too long Like most games today, those greedy game companies/publishers/stock holders (who never played games in their lives)... They'll just opt to copy paste games with old engines ause the whales with mommy's credit card don't care) not quality content...

I certainly hope people are not shilling for game companies anymore... Bethesda/EA/take2 showed us their true faces = faceless greed

The story is ok but extremely predictable. The characters are pretty good too. The characters in this a game are written pretty and the performance by the voice actors really shines...except for iden version. Iden versio is one of the least likable main characters in a videogame in a video game because she no traits or layers to her personality. She is a one dimensional and was written as a " string female character." I lost interest in her storyline because I don't really know her as person. I don't how she grew upz what did he value, who does she hold dear? These are all extremely basic details in fleshing out a character and they didn't do that. The combat is embarassingly boring and stale. It's a third person with de-emphasized aiming. The game on the hardest difficulty is extremely easy but if you die you respawn at this obnoxious checkpoint. In the final arial battle of the game, I kept on dying 3 seconds after I respawned because the guy kept shooting one hit kill missiles at me. The multiplayer is by far the worst I have yet to see in a Video game. They hamfisted the loot pack system into a Star Wars game except it's not for cosmetics only. You can buy upgrades that make you better at the game. This leads to matches with 2 different players. The players who have the upgrades and kick everyone's ass, and the players who don't have the upgrades and can't do anything to win. The performance are not quite there yet and the maps are linear as hell. Battlefront ii sets the bar for visual design, but there is no substance. This is a terrible game because it twists an old beloved series into a cashgrab and spits in the face of players who fell victim to this game. Don't buy this game even if you are payed to play it. It is all really sad because the game actually looks good to say the only positive thing first, it might not be that long term game, since the game is very simplified and made for a casual audience but then you have the fulltime job grind which is carefully adjusted by EA so that you are one of the few % who indulge in the profitable microtransactions, because it takes so damn long.

This game is a psychological experiment and P2W construct to extract money from whales via microtransactions (or should i say macrotransactions?), neatly disguised in the shiny Star Wars pew pew license with super Graphics and you as player who just bought the $60-100 game have to indulge in a fulltime job like grind to gain gameplay upgrades and at the same time become the 'product' for the whales who buy all the crates they can get day to get all the upgrades and bash all the underequipped players on their paid powertrip. Right there they disqualify themselves, you simply don't put gameplay relevant upgrades into the progression. Evolve made that mistake and now we it here too and it's even worse because it's directly tied to a P2W system.

The point is how EA initially wanted to implement it 40h grind for 1 hero incentives left and right to participate in P2W microtransactions, after such a **** they surely make 'changes'. Probably some low effort number crunches to calm the masses of their gullible fanbase. These changes will be done to 'make the outrage outdated' (google that and read it, it's eyeopening). One of these changes was to reduce the cost of heroes by 75%, which is simply the 'Door-in-the-face technique. First the requirements are way too high, then they greatly reduce it to wash them clean again. It is all thought through and through and aimed to manipulate the gullible. They have a whole division of psychologists and focustest data so the know exactly how they can turn this to their advantage and come out on top.

EA has reached a new low, a new point of moral bankruptcy which is unforgiveable. I for one recommend to make a mark and don't buy this game, as even the purchase will support their holy grail, the 'Games as a service initiative' Where all the big AAA publishers are part of and try to poison a new generation of gamers with this lootbox/gambling/p2W/psychological manipulation filth. Games are starting to be built from the GROUND up to support and encourage microtransactions, Battlefront 2 is the new pinnacle of anti consumer, with Take Two and Activision coming right after.

But in the end it's all about the money and the publishers will bath in the money of all the whales and apathic fans who still buy it and just look away. This is their new target audience, this so called 'new generation of gamers', a mass of dumb gullible consumers who become a bait and 'Product' for P2W whales who wanna live their paid power trip. People need to wake up and boycott this game, EA has gone too far and it only gets worse from here.

So i give this game a 1 for the good Star Wars graphix and hope that DICE can become independend like CD Projekt Red and IO Interactive to show those greedy manipulative publishers the cold shoulder and make games without these restraints. Right now they are slaves for the devil.

    DON'T BUY THIS GAME!

At it's core, it's a decent shooter that doesn't do anything innovative whatsoever really but it's competent.

But it could be the greatest game of all time at its' core and it'd still be decimated almost totally by what can only be described as free-to-play loot mechanics in a full priced retail game. This means you have to pay to win at this game - you objectively HAVE to pay to

But it could be the greatest game of all time at its' core and it'd still be decimated almost totally by what can only be described as free-to-play loot mechanics in a full priced retail game. This means you have to pay to win at this game - you objectively HAVE to pay to compete in the games multiplayer (which, lets face, is what Battlefront 2 is; the single player 'campaign' is negligible.)

You can't realistically grind out the same advantages and use the in-game currency, unless you played 24 hours a day for about a solid year. The game leads you at every turn to spend real world money to buy advantages in the game.

It's... astonishing to me that the gaming industry is this set on crashing itself for the sake of a quick buck off the gullible in the short term. Without the nonsense loot box system, this game would be around a 7 or 8 as you can see enough through the utter barrage of crap that is the loot system that this would be a top, albeit casual, shooter. But I can't stress enough that the game is ruined - totally, totally destroyed - by the loot system to the point of it being basically unplayable by anyone with a rational mind.

So that's the reason for the score - it's a highly polished middle finger to the consumer with the sole aim of milking as much cash from you under the pretence of having 'fun'. Trust me; you should avoid this kind of business practice in gaming at all costs - there's hundreds of other games out there more deserving of your time.

Only a true fool would support this game. This practice of gouging money is absolutely ridiculous. Individuals are now dropping in giving the game a 10/10 saying "No microtransactions"...seriously? You DO realize that's a temporary removal right? Temporary...look it up sometime. Don't be fooled, this is trash.

Excellent online action offers hours of Stormtooper-shooting fun, but the so-so campaign stumbles, while cynical loot crates leave a sour taste. [Jan 2017, p.83]

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.

Although game has huge problems with p2w microtransactions, it is still a good and fun gameplay experience with stunning visuals.
