Overall: A great game if you also happen to enjoy casinos.

    Gameplay: Fun, fast-paced, exciting
Visuals: Great! The world is immersive and really takes you to the places in the SW universe.
    Sound Design: Perfect.

The team at Dice really outdid themselves. If it wasn't for EA trying to suck each and every last dollar out of their customers, this game might have actually done well.

I’m sorry, but I cannot support a gaming publisher that treats its customers this way. They were great games because they allowed you to immerse yourself into the Star Wars universe WITH NO LIMITATIONS. There was no locked content, no lootbox system, just a game that delivered everything that I paid for from the initial purchase. I want to like DICE’s Battlefront 2, I wanted to like DICE’s Battlefront 1 as well, but it seems apparent that the battlefront series that I initially fell in love with no longer exists. So until a day comes when a Star Wars game with the same spirit of simplicity gets made, I must say goodbye to EA’s “battlefront series.” I just ask that everyone makes a logically sound decision with their money when it comes to business practices like this in the future. We'll my answer is not just no, but HELL NO. I've called all the parents in my family and warned them about your game. Just from my phone calls, you won't get sales from my 3 nephews or several of my cousins.
If you made a good game and didn't try and shove micro-transactions down my throat I would consider coming back, but your latest statement shows me that you're looking for a lull in the storm before you try cramming the lootboxes into your game again, so you've lost me as a customer. And now I'll make sure you lose more sales through my family and friends.

Heavily pushed micro-transactions in a pay to win loot based system reminiscent of Free to play mobile games that no one enjoys. This is where gaming is headed. We need to show developers that we WILL NOT stand for this. It's disgusting that a full price, AAA game is pay to win with such a heavy emphasis on loot. In reviewing this game I truly feel for some of the developers, the hard working programmers, designers and writers at the core of this game who poured their hearts and childhood dreams into what they hoped would be a wonderful homage to Star Wars and it's fans. Without a strict corporate developmentIn reviewing this game I truly feel for some of the developers, the hard working programmers, designers and writers at the core of this game who poured their hearts and childhood dreams into what they hoped would be a wonderful homage to Star Wars and it's fans. The polish and detail are there, the sights and sounds that only Star Wars encapsulates. Without a strict corporate development timeline I am sure the campaign would have been more fleshed out and involved. That is after all what made the original BF games so fantastic, along with the varied modes of game play which are also missing. Here you have the short 5 hour campaign, arcade mode and multiplayer of course. Which leads to the games greatest flaw, the loot system. Giving players the ability to (foolishly) dump real world cash into improving their character ruins the game. Players resistant to this system will immediately be at a disadvantage. Yes EA has "temporarily" rid the game of this paid system, but for how long? Until the storm dies down and social media finds a new topic. Video games and their industry were once on the fringe, yes profit was involved but there seemed to be a certain unspoken rule when it came to games, such as you knew what to except out of a game and its creators. When you bought a game you bought the finished product, and it was often full of surprise and wonder. Games were made by gamers for gamers and the proof was in the product. Now the dark cloud of corporate greed looms overhead, ever growing and suffocating the industry in order to extract every penny. New titles are often a disappointment, as strict timelines lead to even worse presentations. Barely complete projects sold at full retail price, requiring the players to pour even more money into the game to acquire the finished product is becoming the norm. And eventually this will conclude in an implosion of the industry, with only indie developers remaining once the dust settles as wall street scrambles to sell, sell, sell! Gamers, unlike most consumers, know what they want and have very particular expectations. They will not continue to consume when they know they are being taken advantage of. Gamers after all started this industry and hopefully they will eventually take it back. Expand

If you are not a Star Wars fan, this is a very averagely executed shooter.

As a shooter I felt more comfortable 2 decades ago playing Halo 1. Poor collision, aiming, progress. Matchmaking wait times not bad, game types good. Solo campaign Meh! Worst element and shocked, I cannot play with my mate in 2 player content, we can't

Worst element and shocked, I cannot play with my mate in 2 player content, we can't party up, chat and drink beer whilst we go through the content together and this mostly applies in multiplayer as well, this must not be overlooked, think about your game time, how you like to spend it and if it has anything to do with your mate/s, this game will not be for you. You might as well be on comms playing different games!

To those who reviewed 10 to bring up the user score, you're one review is getting hammered by massive groups of people who want change in the gaming industry while you guys are completely fine with paying 100+ or 500+ on loot boxes for random loot you might already have to get a feel of satisfaction or a sense of accomplishment by being better than a person who bought just the base game but the truth is, you're not.

Those who support EA and other developers that are doing blatant P2W or charging more for content that should have already been added in the base game is apart of the problem. It's your money and you can use it however you wish but stop acting like paying for more stuff is some sort of accomplishment and its something to be proud of. Let me remind you of what you're getting, virtual items. They don't translate into the real world and that isn't something you can put on your resume.

EA is the worst offender of the bunch they make Activision look like Respawn, you want to keep acting like you're a superior person because you forked over hundreds of dollars into a game for a virtual item you might never get? knock yourself out but keep quiet when real gamers are trying to push for meaningful and actual change.

All around Battlefront 2 looks just like you're in the Star Wars galaxy, and sounds like it too. But EA decided to be the leader in the industry when it comes to new innovative ways to take their consumers money. The micro-transactions that are the bedrock of this game would be shameful in a free to play mobile game. Battlefront 2 was created in a way to take exorbitant amounts of time to unlock anything. Originally EA wanted it to take forty hours of multiplayer game play to unlock Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker. That's eighty hours for both of them. All progression is based around loot boxes, ever time you want to upgrade your character it comes down to chance. EA is hoping that after the two loot boxes you open after tens of hours of game play and still not getting what you want, you will be more likely to break down and spend more money to get what you want. The arcade mode, which is an offline component of the multiplayer will not allow you to earn anymore credits towards unlocking loot boxes after two matches. Every design about this game is greedy and anti consumer. Even with EA backpedaling, they are only temporarily disabling the micro-transactions so more people will buy the game. Then when things calm down they will reinstate them like nothing happened. This game is terrible for the gaming industry, it represents everything that can be done to take as much power away from the player in an effort to get you to spend more money to get some power back. If you want game publishers to stop trying to suck you dry for every cent you have do not buy this game. Battlefront 2 is not fun, and it's infuriating that so many things get in the way of you actually enjoying any part of what could of been a fun game. Expand

At the time of writing, EA has removed all microtransactions from the game. But the temporary nature of this change does very little to repair the damage done to any feeling of fun, trust or goodwill on my part. How can a consumer possibly trust that the game will emerge in a fixed, adequate state in light of the ill intentions that we have already seen. Any amount of temporary, tepid backpedalling will not be enough to fool me twice.

So let me get back to Battlefront 2, the game hasn't even been out for a week and people are hating it, mainly cause of the micro-transactions. Guys how are they going to make money, the game has FREE DLC!!! They are still working on the game, and call of duty and battlefield do the same exact thing with my loot crates, you spend money to get good stuff, do you see people complain about that, its your money do whatever you wish with it, i wont be spending on money on loots crates im just going to earn it the hard way, by grinding it. I know a lot of you just hate me for saying these but its the truth in my point of view. The game is still brand new, EA and DICE are really working hard on giving us a good game, ya the game is unfinished but at the same time they didn't have time to put everything in the game, there already promising us a dlc here soon, and soldier customization, so if your one of those people that wasted 80 or 60 dollars on the game then why did you even buy it i mean seriously, but hey its your own money. i love the game by the way, ya only a limited amount of maps to play on and only a few things to do in the game, but i keep telling myself, hey the game is still fun i will keep playing it, and its a new game still, i will wait for new content. Oh and you're also at a disadvantage for the people who got the Deluxe edition and had a 3 day head start on you. Did anyone complain about these advantages? No. Hell have a real life and not 6 hours a day to devout to a game, you're at an extreme disadvantage in this game (this is the same for all CoD type games).
"EA is being predatory with their microtransactions", thats odd, because Battlefront II isn't the game where your loot box opens in front of everyone else in the social hub to invite envy. If you aren't earning at least 2 boxes a night (not including the free daily), you should probably stop playing games. I suck at the game (like killed myself 4 times during a star fighter assault game suck) and i get that many.
All the twitch online shooter games always give the advantage to the hardcore players who have hours upon hours of the day to play. Microtransactions might help to even that out. I say "might" because its not guaranteed. Hell you have to get to level 20 I think to craft the best cards. So most who are complaining are doing so because they were told to.
On to the game. Awesome graphics. Its a twitch shooter. Its not a military sim or flight sim. If you're complaining about simplistic control what the heck did you think you were buying? CoD doesn't have you cleaning out your gun or banking bullets off of a wall. There is nothing complex about a twitch shooter. That would be against the entire point.

Star Wars Battlefront II provides a greater ambition than the previous installment. It has powerful war scenes, a brand new single player mode, and shows a much more magnificent Star Wars Universe. But just like the Jedi should be ware of the dark side of the Force, this game also meets some similar situations, such as beleaguered microtransaction elements and character growth problems. The first 10 hours of this game is full of surprises; however, the further you play this game, the more disappointed you will get.
