I love the story, a dark and brutal foray into the untraveled in video games East. The Hong Kong underworld complete with sex trafficking, drugs, triads and corruption is fantastic. The combat is awesome and is a more complex version than what the recent Arkham games offer complete with upgrades. It takes a while to get to grips with controlling vehicles, once you do however it has a more "Action Movie" feel to it than other games of this genre. Over all the game itself is terrific, I'd give it a 9/10

This is where it lets itself down, yes it has all the DLC and such but as far as a visual and audio overhaul its barely had one. All they have really done is made everything shiny and glisten. The neon has a bit more image flare and its a bit more higher resolution but that's about it. When it rains it looks really good but my major gripe is how empty Hong Kong is. Aesthetically the game is abandoned and sparsely populated, the city simply isn't alive enough. The pedestrians have about 7>10 possibilities of things they can say and there aren't enough of them. Sometimes there are literally zero vehicles on the road. To me this is not a next-gen overhaul. It is more fitting of a past gen GOTY re-release.

Summarizing, Sleeping Dogs is a fantastic action game and it is very underappreciated. However as far as remasters and definitive editions go this is a flop. Taking into consideration a certain other open world crime game which was remastered into practically a brand new game *cough, cough* GTAV *cough* the remastering of Sleeping Dogs is pretty sub-par.

Voto 6/10.

Apart from the glitches and bugs, the game's mechanics are way worse than expected. The parkour mechanics are very scripted and you can feel it. The parkouring is also inconsistent. In some places The player can wall-climb a 4 meter wall, but when you try to reach a ledge that is literally in your arms reach the game doesn't give you the prompt to press X and climb it. That is a huge hindrance when running around and for example chasing someone or trying to move around quickly.
The combat system is also extremely boring. The combat system works in a single-combat against an evenly matched opponent. But single-combats are extremely rare in this game. Most fights you encounter are against 5-20 goons by yourself. You can learn new moves when the game progresses, but you can't use the moves when you are surrounded by 5 opponents. Only thing you need to do in a combat in this game is to use the triangle button to counter. Sometimes the game doesn't even allow you to do anything else. In one mission I had to beat 30 opponents, by myself and the opponents were immune to normal attacks. Only way you could proceed was to counter their every single strike. Talk about boring playing experience when all you have to do is press triangle when the game tells you to do so.
And then there are the numerous glitches and bugs. I have had to quit the game multiple times. Examples: my character doesn't respond to the sticks and I can't move him around anymore. My opponent whom I have to kill or detain is stuck between a car and a wall, etc. The latest glitch I encountered was when I was playing just a few minutes ago. The game started to make a constant and extremely loud machine gun noise. And no, the problem wasn't in my headphones. I had to quit the game, but after restarting, the same thing happened even sooner this time.
Good things about the game are it's relatively good story, although the gameplay in the missions is too repetitive. And that Hong Kong is a pretty place when it's raining. But naturally those 2 things can't save the game. Avoid at all cost.

Sleeping Dogs is an awesome open world game. I liked the story very much and I also liked that the action took place in China because it was a change from from all the other American places. The combat system and shooting system are nicely done . The game isn't perfect, it had its flaws, like minor bugs (people randomly spasming) and the graphics felt as they were prev gen. I founde this game very cheap in playstation store. I bought the game and played it for several minutes maybe 450-650 minutes. I felle that every minute played on this game could be used on making good music in garageband. I wished i never would have gotten this game even though i bought it very cheep.

An unexpected gem. An absolutely fantastic game, with a perfect blend between melee combat and gunplay. It well deserves to be up there with GTA, Saints Row etc.

From a fun perspective; I enjoyed this a lot more than GTA V and for £20 it is a serious bargain considering you get all the the DLC content. There is so much to do here... The main story is great even though its a bit cliché. There are a few issues around gameplay but nothing that will bother anyone.... Seriously GET THIS!

The added dlc's is not enough to make this game shine on PS4 if you look at GTA V on PS4 and sleeping dogs you will clearly see how far behind sleeping dogs really is. Sleeping dogs was below average on PS3 and on ps4 it is even worse. The controls is terrible and the driving mechanics is garbage. The entire game is a lost cause and should never have been remastered for ps4. If you like open world crime games on ps4 I suggest stay with GTA V

I loved Sleeping Dogs the first time I played it on the Playstation 3, and I still love it on the Playstation 4. True, the updated graphics may not be much different. Sleeping Dogs was one of the best sandbox games this side of GTA to ever be released. And with the trend of "remastered" games for the new consoles being released now, Square Enix thought they would bring it to the next gen consoles. But does that equal a better game and something fans of the series should purchase? No but there are a few caveats to mention.

Sleeping Dogs was one of the best games of 2012 and one of the best non-GTA sandbox games ever to have been made with its great story, wonderful acting by a ton of celebrities, and a focus on melee combat never before seen in a sandbox game. But the game was released in 2012 and is now over 2 years old, an eternity in the gaming world. The remastered version does little beyond touching up the graphics (just barely....) and adding all the DLC into the mix on one disc. It's a decent package but leaves alot to be desired.
First of all, the graphical upgrade is beyond minimal. While the character models for the main Cantonese people are good, anyone of another race look beyond awful. The world doesn't look great and you can tell there was very little done beyond the main character models, but even those don't look that good. For a remastered version and a game on the PS4, this game look terrible. Other remastered games for these new next gen consoles have been pretty to look at, while this game does not. It's pretty sad honestly.
But this is a great game from the last generation and you're doing yourself an injustice by not playing it. Everything about the game is fun and is about as original as a sandbox game can really get honestly. There are some minor gripes that remain from the original game but they are minor compared to the whole game. I have always loved this game but I cannot justify paying 60 dollars for this game when it's about as bare bones as you can get for a remastered game. If this game was around 40 dollars, it would be highly recommended from me. But considering you can get this game for less than 20 dollars on last gen systems if you look hard enough, I cannot recommend this game as it currently stands. That doesn't mean it's a bad game but that there are easier ways to go about getting it.

If you haven't played this game before definitely ( *haha) try it. The story and graphics are great, the parkour and fighting controls are excellent. It's set in an unusual location to most AAA video games that adds an interesting change to the flow of gameplay. However there isn't enough new content for old players.

the story is great. The activities are fun. The atmosphere is perfect. but the main issue of the game is hard kung fu missions. they are hard and boring sometimes. and there is no skip button like rockstar games. If the combats were more fun it would be best sandbox game . but hard combats make you stuck in some missions for long hours.

This game is kind of fun! Missions are not too original but everything is done in way that is really fun to play. Only things which are not too god are annoying vehicle auto rotation camera and character upgrade system. Overall, very fun to play!

I never played this on the PS3, unfortunately it still looks like a PS3 game. Even if it has been improved, the graphics are far below PS4 quality, certainly no where near Watch Dogs quality, and certainly not worth the $60 price tag. That's a shame because Sleeping Dog's main campaign is a ton of fun and I loved every minute of it. The game comes with all the DLC but I had no interest in the halloween themed missions and since there is no multiplayer aspect in Sleeping Dogs I decided to trade this game in. It almost seems as if the game makers wanted to make more money off this title by giving it next gen release with an art book to hide the shame of it being a terrible port. The game is just AWESOME ! Some small bugs but nothing serious. I liked the hand to hand combat and it feels different than GTA V (In a good way). The story is mature and fun to play.

I think the graphics are great, could be better for sure but now they are nice. I recommend to anyone that like sandbox games. Oh and the radio stations you can listen are varied and much much better
