horrible R3 deadzone makes otherwise good game almost unplayable. Whoever idea this was should get fired. Every game should look example from god of war or apex legends what comes to R3 and aiming.
However othervice game is a masterpiece in any kind of way. Bosses tho are too hard if you are not the type who enjoys grinding. overall solid 8.

Dark Souls, DSIII, didn’t like DSII then Elden Ring & recently Sekiro. At first it’s incredibly difficult. I played through the game twice before becoming what I would consider to be proficient. If you want to cheese many bosses there are ways but that is cheating yourself out of a lot of satisfaction & fun. The game can be finished w/4 endings. One ending is about 60% if the full game the typical ending is about 95% of the game. There’s a lot of fighting techniques Sekiro can learn to make fights more difficult, easy, interesting & easy. Attack power is upgraded after defeating major bosses & using the memory to upgrade. So grinding for attack power doesn’t work. You have to learn the fight. Maybe a skill can help & that can be a grind objective; along w/Sen (gold). A very different From Software game that feels right at home because of the excellent boss, character, level & fight designs. I do think Sekiro is the most difficult From Software game I’ve played but it’s fair & that’s most important. Don’t skip this game & if you do play don’t give up. I’m on NG+6 & some fights are still difficult. I still die a couple times or more to some bosses. Expand

I love this game. The combat in this game is the most thrilling, invigorating, and engaging combat systems I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. It doesn't feel like a fight but rather a duel with enemies.

Miyazaki made another game with revolutionary combat. You truly feel like you are dueling with somebody at every encounter especially at humanoid bosses. A must if you want to feel like a shinobi at mythological sengoku Japan.

    - Worst customization of the series, because there isnt any.

    - Worst gameplay of the series. Fromsoftware can make games with a hundred weapons that all feel great, so if they make a game with just one weapon it would result in absolutely god tier gameplay, right? No. Its just one dimensional Katana bashing all the time and nothing else. Not really better than using a Katana in all their other games. Gets boring after the first few areas. Also it straight up doesnt work when fighting multiple enemies at once and all the other minor problems these games have (bad camera, weird hit boxes etc) are still there.

    - Worst online of the series because there isnt any as well. No coop, no pvp, nothing.

    - Worst overall content of the series, most bosses and all mini bosses and even some areas get reused multiple times. 3x Ashina castle, really? This is lazy. All the other Souls games have way more content and Elden Ring is probably ten times bigger than Sekiro.

    - Besides that its not better than the other games at anything. Bloodborne and DS3 still have the same or even better overall quality than Sekiro and ER and the Demon´s Souls Remake absolutely dunk on it.

If Elden Ring is a $60 game Sekiro would be $5. Good that Fromsoftware got away from this misguided garbage.

The movement system also combines seamlessly with the rest of the gameplay. The locations are interesting to explore and there are enough set pieces here to emphasize the beauty of the world they created. The bosses in this game too are easily the most consistently great in any game I've ever played. The fighting mechanics allow for interesting and challenging fights which really shine brightest with the final fight. A substantial issue I have however is that there are a decent amount of repeat fights here. almost half the bosses and mini-bosses one fights are repeats with some alterations. Now, while the alterations often do change enough to make the second fights compelling, it still feels odd that in a game this polished there also exists a stunning lack of diversity. But, the high points of this game heavily outweigh the negatives and overall one likely wont be too concerned with the lack of diversity of fights while playing due to the fluid and great feeling gameplay that surrounds it. This review is from the perspective of a returning souls player that have played ds1 ds3 bloodbourne and demon souls. The new combat is a new welcome addition. The new movement and vertical level designs makes for a new Experience that doesn’t feel like from soft is treading similitude ground. If you are a returning souls player that wants exactly the same experience you might be put of because it is different. The customized build variety has been traded for a more focused and simply put much better combat system. This is a game that knows what it wants to accomplish and does so very well. I do have a few minor very subjective complaints though. The world feels less very inspired but still a bit less creative and surprising than previous world entries. But this is because it is more reality based and that’s okay, just personal preference. The pop up tutorial systems are a steep downgrade from previous game tutorials. I will also say that the amount of repeat minibosses are tedious. And that the ability to absorb coins and items although conviniant is very immersion breaking. Also the GODAMM MONKEY DUO FIGHT IS THE WORST IN THE ENTIRE SERIES. I don’t ever wanna hear anymore complaints about “Oh the ds2 duo bosses are the worst” because goddam this is the worst duo fight ever it does not work and abandons everything this game was built around. 1v1, this was also abit true for games like ds1 but since the combat system was less focused and somewhat less built around 1v1 you could make it justifiable to create 2v1 fights. Not in sekiro though. Still I am very happy to see fromsoft get out of their comfort zone and try something new. Heavily recommended Expand

As long as you leave your gaming preconceptions at the door, and open yourself to the combat mechanics that From Software carefully crafted on this title, you will have a blast!

Initially, I tried to play this game with my usual approach: keep dodging, have patience, mind your position, and look for an opening to punish your adversary… And doing this just brought me pain, anger and frustration… I kept dying and dying and dying. I did not understand what was happening!

Sekiro took me out of my comfort zone, and forced me to change the way I usually approach games like this… I had to be aggressive, set the tempo of the fight, and properly learn and rely on new or rarely used mechanics… And it was a wonderful experience.

It is funny how as soon as you embrace Sekiro’s combat system, everything clicks. You really feel like a ninja, dominating parries, mikiri counters, and jumps, while also throwing yourself right in the face of bosses and dominating them… At some point you feel that is the boss the one that should be worried because you are unstoppable!

Less flexibility is the price to pay to have such a refined combat experience. Thank you From Software for pushing the genre and bringing such unique experiences for us to enjoy.

Have patience, learn the mechanics, and be aggressive… And you will have a wonderful time with Sekiro.

You are locked into a parry combat style which make boss fights maddeningly long compared to any other souls title because you arent really able to innovate, which is where my disappointment lies. Almost all the boss fights feel the same and are unnecessary long.

Sekiro is a flawed masterpiece. This game has the most consistent boss lineup of any game. Incredible locations and excellent combat that is challenging and hard to master. The replayability of the game is a flaw as there is no build variety. Enemies are too frequent in many locations making combat not fun.

I like many people came into this expecting a souls like game but instead its more of a character action, stealth game that burrows a lot of ideas from dark souls. Instead of making your own character there only one character Wolf and with the lack of customization to play styles there usually a right way to play the game and because of that I feel this hurts the replay value when compared to the souls games. But its kind of unfair for us to keep comparing this to Dark Souls because this game is trying to be something else and it does a damn good job at it. While things like checkpoints, death mechanics and brutal difficulty are carried over from FromSoft's other games this one has a more stealth and one on one dual focus to it. And while the game is quite difficult it felt really rewarding to master and combat is just really fun once you get the hang of it. Countering is a big part of if you cant learn to counter enemies then your not gonna have a great time. Some enemies require you to counter them if you want to realistically take them down and it can be daunting. I feel like I didn't get the hang of the mikari counter until I fought the final boss so yes it is hard but trust me if you have the patience its worth it.

So other then the combat what else did I like about the game well the setting of feudal Japan was a nice change of pace for FromSoft games and overall the game look's really good. The story is actually not that hard to follow unlike many of their other games. That's not to say its not cripted because it still is in many ways but at the very least you will have an idea of what's going on at all times. And I really liked the story of Sekiro exploring new areas and learning more about Ashina was really interesting. And the highlight of the game would have to be the bosses with some very good bosses in this game. There's a lot of mini bosses to but id say most of them are alright but a few definitely throwaway encounters or just really annoying. My favorite bosses would have to be the guardian ape and the divine dragon one for its challenge and the other just because its fun to fight with out being super difficult.

Overall Sekiro is really good if I had to criticize it I would say it's maybe a bit to hard in some spots and trying to get all the skills to get the trophy required some annoying grinding and I wish you could upgrade your defensive capabilities in some way other then just getting more HP. But those are small complaints that don't really take away from the overall experience.

Overall, Sekiro is defined by its riveting, challenging, and ultimately highly rewarding gameplay. Stemming from simplicity but giving a wide variety of different combat options, few games come close to matching the exhilarating rush that Sekiro’s best moments provide. Exploring its atmospherically engrossing levels is a treat, from a visual, musical, and atmospheric standpoint. Even if exploration and character storylines are sometimes hampered by Dragonrot, repeatedly severing the immortality of bosses with brutal “Shinobi Executions” and discovering the ritual secrets of eternal life offers a captivating experience that stands out as one of FromSoftware’s best and most distinctive titles.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an enjoyable, yet deeply challenging game. It's not really a Dark Souls with samurais game, but whether or not you enjoyed the difficulty level of the battles in Dark Souls will be a good benchmark in gauging how much you'll like Sekiro. If you're persistent, up for a challenge, and don't become frustrated easily, then Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an easy game to recommend.

Though Sekiro feels impossibly hard at times, the level of euphoria you experience when delivering a death blow to a tricky boss or when you finally clear a castle grounds of all enemies is almost unparalleled.
