Обожаю эту серию игр еще с первой плойки, но пожалуй эта часть истории больше про бабло, чем про душу.

    Not good not terrible.
Secon game in relaunch, and it steel same proble as first.
Plot... in this game oh... sometime i think better take plot from game 90's (aliens, Atlantis etc). Cartoon characters, stupid vilians, no normal motivation for main character, and mistic (completely unnecessary) at the end game. So second minus - fight. Still to many, no so much as in firs, but still.

So second minus - fight. Still to many, no so much as in firs, but still. The point is not in their quantity, but in their duration - you have to kill so much enemy in one battle, so you really feel like "rambo". If creator try make slightly less enemies, maybe game feel like more about аrchaeologist
Plus in this game - nice graphic, so cool picture, and the got nice tomb with good riddles.

So as in game 2013, last few hour i tred run fast as much i can, but stiil this game (mostly graphics regards) you dont want walkthrough, beatifull place, and not bad "open" world make it feel spirit of adventure( though just a little)

This game was a big disappointment. After the strong predecessor, this game felt like a rut in a world that felt very repetitive (of course due to the many snow levels). In addition, I found the story weak and the ultimate goal disappointing.

Pretty good in general. ROTTR keeps a lot of the 2013 reboot's strengths, especially the fluid gameplay/combat. And again, the graphics are excellent. It doesn't push any boundaries though, and the overall feel is incredibly similar to TR 2013.

The story is the game's greatest weakness, quickly becoming stale and predictable. There isn't the same sense of mystery as we saw with TR 2013.

The story is the game's greatest weakness, quickly becoming stale and predictable. There isn't the same sense of mystery as we saw with TR 2013. I didn't feel much emotional connection to the plot or side characters either. And while Lara's voice-acting was pretty good, the overall dialogue and acting for the other NPCs is not great, especially compared to games like Uncharted 4.

I still feel like the game could do without the whole brutal finishers thing and whatnot. Fun as they are, it continues to ruin the consistency of Lara's character.

The upgrades have been expanded on, accompanied by a plethora of grindy collectibles. However, there's little practical reason to grind for these, as Lara quickly becomes powerful enough to take on all the enemies the game throws at her. And so, despite all the content added into the game, I feel like there isn't much incentive (for most gamers) to go back and finish it.

The best part of ROTTR is the challenge tombs. Although most of them lean on the short side, there are now a lot more of them compared to TR 2013. The rewards from these tombs are a mixed bag, but the experience of completing them is pretty much worth it by itself.

Overall, ROTTR is like Uncharted 4 with more open-world elements, a considerably inferior story, and worse dialogue. If you liked TR 2013, you'll enjoy this for sure, as it's very similar gameplay- and mechanics-wise.

On a scale where 5 is actually a pretty standard average game, Rise of the Tomb Raider deservingly falls below that mark. The story is very basic, plot elements are predictable from the very start, characters are uninteresting and have dumb and unclear motivations.

The core gameplay, provided you take the time and do side stuff, is very uninteresting and not rewarding. There's very little combat, and only a handful of tombs to raid, with very contrived solutions that don't always play by the same rules. Climbing is slow and clunky, and sometimes jumping from ledge to ledge, or across cliff faces, Lara will just not grab the other ledge, or jump in some weird direction, or hit some minuscule thing, and then fall to her death. I died more from just exploratory bugs than I did in combat.

The combat is awful. Your aim speed is very slow and imprecise, and then they toss on aim acceleration you can't disable. When enemies are close, and they will be since every enemy's AI is scripted to either run straight at you, or walk slowly towards you, the aiming seems to screw up and you have a hard time hitting things despite your aim being on point. I spent most of the game standing stationary and waiting for an enemy to show his head and pop it. Exciting. You can melee enemies, but it too, is dreadful. It doesn't do much damage, and mostly just "stuns" enemies for a lengthy "finisher" move, where all the other enemies shoot at you. The finisher move is also incredibly finicky about when it actually wants to work.

So since combat is terrible, how about stealth? It's incredibly basic. Other than sprinting or jumping (which you get a perk for, despite it notably not working) the enemies do not hear you. Their vision cones are laughably small, and you can run straight at them from the side. Before you upgrade to quiet stealth kills, which ironically would consist of enemies screaming bloody murder as an axe is violently jammed in their back, stealth kills actually aren't stealthy. There's of course also the forced combat sections. So, stealth isn't very challenging or rewarding, and isn't always an option.

The audio is actually pretty decent, with a pretty good amount of 5.1 surround spatialization, but walls and distance are not taken into effect in a lot of scenarios, so things sound closer than they really are. There's also often some seemingly random noises that I'm assuming is supposed to be "spooky" forest ambiance, but it didn't feel like that to me.

I experienced a fair number of bugs, more than my average playthrough of a game would have. Nothing game breaking, but I think worth mentioning. Overall, the core gameplay outside of story missions got real tedious pretty quick, the gameplay during missions could include god awful combat encounters, and buggy "exploration" movements and the story fell very, very flat. This game does nothing new, and nothing great.

Definitely a 10/10, since they pretty much used the same engine as it's predecessor, which is a good thing.
From the whole reboot trilogy, it definitely has the best story in my opinion. Really cool DLCs and the inventory is pretty big, a bunch of nice rifles, bows, shotguns and pistols. The coop was also a better idea than actual multiplayer like TR2013.

Once combat engages though it is less polished. The gadgets for exploring are fun but maybe too many, we didn't need the arrows that you unrealistically climb on and jump from one to another. Collectibles that are interesting that include diary messages of the antagonists are overshadowed by tons of not interesting collectibles like a random villager's writing from 100 years ago. Most of the abilities don't matter. And the story has holes in it towards the end, such as never really explaining what the divine power is or how it works besides Jacob saying " it is not divine." Dislikes:
-When Lara would sense enemies nearby she automatically crouches, but i would like to crouch with a push of a button, but there is no option to do so. This kind of takes away from the stealth experience.
-When Lara's survival instincts are activated you are not able to move because if you do the instinct will be deactivated, so you are constantly pressing the instinct button.
-Reading the documents through out the game was very TIRING as there are SO MANY documents to be found and read.
-There were times where i would want to raid a tomb, but i couldn't do so because i didn't have the right equipment and that i would have to come back to that tomb when i did which was also annoying (I never went back).
-The puzzle solving got really annoying too.
-I wish that the coin caches were worth more when found.

Considering how annoying this game was at times I still really enjoyed it and i rather play this game any day over Uncharted 4. I am definitely looking forward to playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Also, after finishing the game, the map is split into zones, which tell you how much % complete each one is -- I find this awesome (hear that 2k ? mafia 2 anyone ?).

SO-SO: the gameplay dynamics, while quite enjoyable, could have been a bit improved, on the 2nd difficulty level (1 above the easiest), it's a bit too easy I found (and the 3rd one up was a bit too hard for a very quick play-through (I had bought rdr2)).

On the easiest you could literally finish off almost all opponents with the melee weapon (which in select cases literally got you stuck - for example the mission "Survive the Ambush by the D******* Ones", if you would melee kill everyone, the gates wouldn't open and you'd literally be stuck - you need to shoot with weapons there). I got very pissed off when I wasted a good hour on that mission ... other stuff like the bow are indeed very fun to use, and make for very interesting stealth approaches in select areas.

BAD: honestly the voice active for Lara I found incredibly annoying - she has a very artificial and forced British accent; I'm not a native speaker and truly love all accents, texan, canadian, australian, scotish british -- you name it I love it -- but when 90% of your energy goes into faking me a posh british accent ... I don't know ... really pissed me off -- you either get used to it or it gets better as you progress through the game. It pissed me off enough to write .. what .. 5 6 lines on it so ... yeah. The divinity and god and what not was also not my favorite topic, but, meh, that I didn't take points away for.

CONCLUSION: especially at what it costs now - it really shouldn't be a game you didn't play - it really is good fun

Graphically the game looks beautiful, however i did like the gritty art style of Tomb Raider 2013 better. Most notable, the writing for Lara's character has changed from an intelligent and caring for her friends character to a quite generic and almost psychotic character. Lara walks around as if she knows everything, while she puts her friends and herself unnecessary in harms way. Notable, the story itself hangs by a thread.

Gameplay hasn't changed a lot from part 1, gunplay is still fun and good. However, Crystal dynamics somehow thought deepening the crafting system was a good idea. Unfortunately, the result is that crafting now requires so specific items that it becomes a choir, and disrupts the momentum of playing the game. Last but not least, the game feels the need to go the road of open world when it works better as a lineair game.

And of course the game features dubious micro-transactions and a forced upon complete edition for PS4 to milk €60 out of consumers. I give this game a 6/10, an average game.

Such a slow burn it takes 6 hours for the story to actually get to a point where Lara has some sort of emotion. But once you pass the half way point it really picks up.

Overall its struggled to replicate why the reboot was so successful in the first place ultimately there's no sense of danger you're a killing machine and nothing bothers you.

The story revolves about Lara (as usual), and her quest to the divine source, a mysterious artifact with magical abilities (as usual).
This is a tomb raider game: you jump, you shoot, you solve puzzles.
It tries to recaputre the "magic" of the 90s installments, trying to be modernized for current audiences.
The pacing is good, alternating set pieces and more explorative sessions.
The story is predictable, but serves the purpose of the gameplay.
The replay value is high, as you might try to beat the game again with higher difficulty(which changes how the game can be saved or restricts how you can improve the skill tree).

    What Kind of Adventure?

Third-Person Action Adventure. Was it fun? Yes, one of the best games of the year. I made a rule for myself where I had to use the Bow and Arrow for basically the entire game. I think I shot maybe, 4 enemies with a gun. Are there any similar games? Its very similar to Uncharted and I don’t think its a bad thing. What did you think of the story?
    What Kind of Adventure?

    Third-Person Action Adventure.

    Was it fun?

Yes, one of the best games of the year. I made a rule for myself where I had to use the Bow and Arrow for basically the entire game. I think I shot maybe, 4 enemies with a gun.

    Are there any similar games?

Its very similar to Uncharted and I don’t think its a bad thing.

What did you think of the story?

I don’t want to go into too much detail about the story right now. I know its still a fairly new game that has come out so I’m going to keep it as brief as I can. It starts out where you’re just following in your fathers foot steps, trying to get to a mythical city so you can stop an evil organization from acquiring a mythical item. I don’t want to go into too much more detail.

The story itself, is kind of stereotypical and the motivation of individual characters are kind of simplistic. I certainly wasn’t blown away by the story but it was interesting enough to keep me interested.

    Favorite Character?

Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot of character development and you really only get to know 4 characters and really only development for Lara. I do like how she evolving in these games and I do think in this game, her character does take a step in the right direction.

In the first game (Tomb Raider (2013), she started out kind of lost and didn’t really know what to do with herself, by the end of that game she kind of finds herself and discovers that she is a super bad ass. At the end of this one, she is Lara Croft, the Tomb Raider. Thats what makes me excited about the future.

    Favorite World/Stage?

The most memorable chapter was when you’re going back to rescue Jonah. There was this under water fight where you’re in the water, under a layer of ice. Now the ice had maybe 4 or 5 holes that you could peek out and kill an enemy. I really enjoyed the idea of it and the way the game wants you to kill the men is by stealthily peaking out the water and pulling an unaware enemy into the water. The problem with it is there would almost always be 3 or 4 together staring down into a hole so it was difficult to individually pick one off.

Additionally the gameplay mechanics limit you from being able to shoot from within the water so the easiest option was often swim to a far way hole. Hop out, shoot 1 enemy and then hop right back into the water and repeat.

    Would you play it again?

This definitely has replayable value and I might replay it again next year. Right now I gave it to my friend to play. I want him to play it so I have someone to talk about this game with.

    Any Complaints?

Maybe the story was a little too stereotypical but I think thats being a little harsh and for what ever reason, I had a tougher time with the platforming elements. There were times where I died and because she didn’t grab onto to a wall or a ledge when I wanted her. It was not common occurrence and very rare but it did happen a few more times than it does with the Uncharted series.

How many hours did you play it?

    Maybe 18 hours.

Just WOW! This game is absolutely beautiful. And I love how the developers enhanced the game for PS4 Pro console.

But I put a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 because of some technical issues in the game, and when you choose the "high frame-rate" mode on PS4 Pro, the frame-rate is very unstable and it goes from 40 to 50 fps. It should be fixed but I guess it's too late now. Anyway, I loved

Anyway, I loved this game. All of it. To not mention the new difficulty, "Extreme survivor", which is very difficult and makes you really anxious because the game only saves at base camps, and some of them are also unlit.

I also appreciated very much the new classic skins, especially the Angel of Darkness one. Unfortunately, the TR2 and TR5 skins have a braid that flies in the air also when there isn't wind, which is very strange. Must be some problem in the braid physics.

Talking about hair physics: I love the new technology that Crystal Dynamics put on Lara's hairs. The only issue I have with them is that Lara's hairs in the front are very puffy and, sometimes, there are some problems in the animation where Lara touches her hairs after being in the water. Sometimes che puts her hands in her head. I think that animation should be deleted in the next TR game because It's a bit useless and It's full of glitches.

Anyway, Crystal Dynamics did an awesome job with this game. Congratulations!

More of the same while lesser of a game. For all of the grit, intensity, great characters, and brilliant Lara Croft character development in the 2013 reboot, this is essentially the same game without those aforementioned things that made it so special and immersive. But there's something tremendously underwhelming about this game, and it seems to be a toss-up as to whether you'll actually feel that, or have a great time and love every minute.

As for specific cons, the main villains are stale and confusing, the story is all over the place, the weapons are about the same, the unmemorable set pieces lack intrigue, characters' decisions don't make much sense, and the writing is suspect. That's what to watch out for, but the rest isn't half-bad. Enjoy.

Lara's character is worse than the previous game. This is an Assassin's Creed clone and its just like a million other games. This isn't worth your time. But plot and script are so disappointing, mainly for action part where soldiers appear from nowhere since they have always an easy way to reach location (google maps and rockets maybe) while you have struggled your guts out by climbing jumping solving puzzle and traps. Wait.. were those locations supposed to be kept secret for centuries?

A poorly written story and poorly written characters hurt this, otherwise, fun game. Even the new side content is boring and feels like busy work. The combat feels limited compared to the last game. Just an overall huge step down. But there is some fun to be had, but it's no where near as good as the last game.

Lara is quite plain alongside the story, with an important lack of emotion but her father's will. Like the first game, it feels kinda artificial and poorly design.

Other characters like Jonah or even the main villain itself have a minor importance and they developmente in the story are simple or even unexistent, with a huge lack of real involvement.

Also the plot is practically a copy from the first game, the final fases even fun and good designed, are quite too much similar in many ways to the first, with romans instead of "samurai".

    - Gameplay is simple, find coverage and shot the enemies, there are4 types of weapons with differt variations: bow, primary (rifle, sniper, subrifle), secondary (shotgun), and handgun. Olso the piolet but only for melee.
The problem here is the enemy IA (quite dumb), the design of the stages (normaly small with lots of coverage and pickup objects) and enemies (too armored enemies breaks the flow), crafting (pickup objects are excesive and quite OP) and sometimes camera. Also melee combat is like the first, evade and kill, quite easy, and the healing system can be improved.

The map size is good, but it is not a open world, there is backtracking to collect resources, but again there is no real reward unless you aim to the 100% completion.

Optional cripts are quite similar to the first, except 2 or 3, the rest are simple and a bit dissapointing, i expected more. Also the rewards arent quite useful.

    - The World as I said is good sized and good looking, but there is a lack of impresive environments and cutscenes oftenly interrupts the pace of the game, there are too many when you run and everything goes down, it needs improvement.

    - Extra content (Baba Yaga, Endurance, etc): fun but not really a huge value, Baba Yaha is fun and really rocks, but again the plot is predictable.
Endurance is a survival mode, interesting but it falls in repetition.

    - Overall: good game, fun game but with a lot of issues, Animations, combat system, story, characters, side-missions, environments.
I didn't find myself stuned with a view, like I did with other games. The game tries hard to make it but doesn't deliver, unless not at today's high end quality games.

I find in the saga a lack of identity, that tries to find itself in a genre and with a legendary character that do not reaches the glory of it's past days.
I'm really looking forward to Shadow of the Tomb Raider, I want to see improvement and know if finally that game reaches the top. A similar game only will lead to dissapointment.

Lara, now the character is fine, fits well with the game, the story, even the characters ,but at points, she feels so selfish, like oh that was my fault, this has happened because of me, oh I'm sorry I did this, it's those little phrases and speech, that really make me want to skip cut scenes, but it's Lara Croft so I didn't.

The second and last bad point, is the story, though good, as I'll explain later, is at times forced, often feeling rushed, and is a shame because on a whole it flows well with the environments, but can be lackluster at times.

Now the good points, game play well done, now I wasn't expecting Uncharted styled game play, or cryptic puzzles to solve, but what we got was a pact, and well executed function of game play, the various weapons and tools to help during exploration and climbing obstacles was a nice, and the feel of open world was pretty cool too.

Combat, loved it, fluid, clean and made gun fights, and melee feel heart pounding. The range of weapons to fight with was ace, and the ability for stealth was a plus, overall very good when it came to combat.

Story, raiding a tomb, seems the norm, and execution of this said norm was very well done, it's a shame no, quote on quote sexy scenes were present despite the 18 rating, but hey it was good without them none the less, overall gripping and enticing at every corner.

Lastly the characters, now there is Lara, but she was fine, in more ways than one, but the other characters were pleasing, respectable and didn't give me the urge to ignore them, each one having an impact on what happened, even down to the generic enemies, each one had purpose and didn'r feel like placeholders.

On a final note, the game was amazing, the visuals is what I would expect, and for the most part a very tidy game, challenges were difficult at times but never too hard you gave up, and the story and characters seemed polished and purposeful, must say well done, well done indeed.

Much better than Tomb Raider (2013). This game doesn't feel like a substandard copy of Uncharted. It is of decent length, and the cinematic action-adventure elements are much improved. The motivation was dead after a few hours.

To be honest, the game is well polished, graphics are good, voice acting is fine and lara ain't **** around like she did in the first game. But en contraire the first one was way better because it was far more logical. Example: You start the game in the siberian tundra with a bow, while beeing constantly attacked by heavy armed forces. After approx. 5 hours, Lara finally decides to pick up a **** gun. Why? Nobody knows.

I played this game for nearly 100 hours and has done every thing possible. Baba Yaga DLC, Expedition and Croft Manor were really interesting addition to main game. Visuals and graphics are one of the best i have seen on PS4. Great story and satisfying puzzles.

The only thing that needs a little bit tweaking in this game would be the weapons. Mainly everyone uses bow and arrow and that weapon has no flaw. But other weapons like handgun, rifle and shotguns aren't really fun to use. Also I would love to see powerful human bosses in the next game.

Rise of the Tomb Raider falls just short of its predecessor, but that doesn't take away from the fact that this is undoubtedly a very worthy sequel that looks and plays beautifully.

this game as well as it s prequel just put shame to the franchise ...square enix ruined the series since it is entirely different game from the first six installments published by Core design. they had entire TR legacy to begin with and what did they create ?! i suppose it is good game for younger players who dont know what it was like to play TR back in a day.

Input lag is problematic, leading to many deaths from mistiming jumps

All in all this a poorer showing than the previous game, and a far cry from Uncharted in all aspects.

In terms of graphics, it is, of course, an upgrade - everything looks more detailed and redesigned Lara is a sweetheart, no kidding.

In terms of gameplay, it is neither a step forward nor backward, as it is exactly the same game as in 2013, only set in different environments, and with more upgrades to unlock. There is still a dissonance between the cutscene caring Lara and gameplay Lara butchering dozens of soldiers without remorse and even performing absolutely unnecessarily violent executions like putting a shotgun to a person's chin and pulling the trigger. The lack of a dedicated cover button is still annoying, as is the abundance of collectibles. Seriously, I don't remember the previous game too well, but this time around there is just way too much grinding for different resources, relics, documents, caches, strongboxes, challenges, etc. The game just tries to stretch itself so that it can boast larger completion time.

The storyline, though, is just atrociously bad. The centuries-old evil secret society with seemingly unlimited resources on the hunt for the same treasures Croft is after, really? An ancient primitive tribe living in some miraculously warm and humid valley in modern-day Russian Siberia?? Some old woman imposing as a witch from a Russian CHILDREN FAIRYTALE instilling terror within anyone who stumbles upon her??? All this ridiculous crap is only made worse by absolutely boring borderline cringy dialogue which is unbearable to listen to. All Lara's moaning about her father's death completely fails to resonate with the player, as you just don't care for any single character in this game, and her father was shown to have killed himself, for crying out loud, even if it's implied in the end that he did not. You just can't take all this talk that "my father died for this" seriously if you are told that he freaking killed himself!! Hell, I only found out that Jonah is a recurring character from the previous game from the game's wikipedia!

Overall, ROTTR is playable and more or less enjoyable, but its attempts to strike some middle ground between cinematic linear Uncharted and open-world crafting hunting Far Cry are not successful. When the game goes linear, it's mostly fun, even though the setpieces are limited to the already outdated "run forward while everything around you blows up". When the game goes semi-open-world, it quickly gets tedious and boring. And yes, people saying that this is better than Uncharted 4 either have not played it or are paid off or something, because not only U4 does it better with the shooting and climbing mechanics, beautiful graphics and smooth animations, but in that game you care about the story and the characters (even if Sam Drake is probably the weakest side character in the series), whereas here I'll forget all these names in a couple of days.

Compared to the previous title, this game is quite disappointing. The story line is flat and the game play provides nothing new. The game feels and plays exactly the same as the original with nothing new to bring to the table. For the trophy hunters the platinum and DLC trophies are a huge grind and will take some time to complete.

As its own game TR: Rise of the Tomb Raider is really good! Side by side with the original reboot, I'd say the reboot is much better. This one seems to have a lighter tone to it. (It's still dark and gritty, it just felt like they dialed it back a bit)
The story itself is pretty good and the gameplay remains the same for this one. My issues were that the combat just wasn't balanced

The story itself is pretty good and the gameplay remains the same for this one. My issues were that the combat just wasn't balanced enough. Here, Lara has too many toys at her disposal, especially if you accidentally checked out the bonus content during the single player gameplay.
(Which unlocks many of the high tier weaponry way too early!!!! Which sort of ruined my experience until I refused to use them until the actual ones were unlocked.)

What I really did like, was the side missions, tombs and supplemental material (the notes, artifects, etc) which seemed to have more correlation with what was going on in-game.

The cherry on the top is the survival modes, time attack and DLC; which were all pretty enjoyable.

Rise of the Tomb Raider isn't as good as the first in regards to the campaign, but it makes up for it pretty well with everything else.

Survival mode is very challenging and fun and balances well, with the easier campaign.

In terms of fun factor, better than Uncharted 4, overall probably just slightly above the last Nathan Drake adventure, or maybe it's a draw. Great game.

Fan service en estado puro. Lo he jugado hace nada y de verdad que me ha parecido que recupera gran parte de lo que la saga era en sus inicios, más exploración y menos combates.

I loved what they did with Lara 2.0 in the last game and this is another good adventure from Square. The game didn't feel really evolved compared to the last one so for the sequal just make sure to be a little less conservative otherwise it will become to feel less fresh.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is an average third person action game. I thought the reboot a couple of years ago was pretty good, it was the kick in the teeth that the franchise needed. The problem with RoTR is that it is veeeeery similar to the reboot.
The graphics are fantastic and but the gameplay is pretty run of the mill, its just not a big enough step up from a few years ago. Upgrades are back and straight forward, but sometimes they go too far by giving her too many buffs and advantages. The story is just more Tomb Raider, its Indiana Jones, rinse and repeat; Lara gets in the usual predicaments, captured, thrown around, beaten down, stranded etc. Again, its really nothing new, but what else could I expect?
The Tomb's are actually present in this game and are a welcome addition, they're all relatively straight forward puzzle rooms which, when solved, result in unlocking an upgrade which will aid in over powering you further.
Combat is as expected, solid third person action, stealth and cover based shooting. Stuff is scattered around the environment which can be used to craft bombs, molotovs etc. all of which are handy and can be buffed by upgrades to make them even more powerful.
The environment is pretty spectacular as expected and varied to fit the theme, dangerous animals populate each section which (of course) can be killed and looted for supplies.
Collectables are scattered literally everywhere, collecting them awards you with XP, there are all sorts of things to pick up, most of which unlock the usual "guy reading letter" type reward, seriously do developers actually think people listen to these things?! Every time Lara first sits at a campfire she goes into a monologue about what she's going though, I found these tiresome and didn't really compliment the experience as a whole.
The backtracking because you don't have certain upgrades/equipment is a total bore. Its a sign of the developer trying to milk the game so it takes longer to complete. I feel its totally unnecessary and when you do eventually track back to past areas you are too OP for anything to cause you a worry. I can't stand this type of gameplay! And "Score Attack", don't get me started.
Lastly the game is too easy, even on Survivor difficulty it doesn't really offer up much of a challenge.
RoTR is really average, by the end of the game it capitulates into out right plagiarism, the final boss "battle" is a rip of of Ellie vs David from Last of Us, super, super dumbed down, and way easier. Lara is a one-woman-killing machine who, frankly, belongs in something like COD because of the way she dolls out punishment. This is a AAA pop-corn for the masses action game at its finest, all its needs is micro-transactions oh, wait

It's worth my wait and my money. I've played all tomb raider games and I could compare it especially with its prequel, Tomb Raider 2013.
First of all, graphics are amazing, one of the best I've ever seen on PS4, both characters and settings are absolutely realistic.
Settings are breathless, not too varied being always in the same area but amazing and well-finished.
Unlike its prequel, Lara has more abilities and skills to improve, in this new one she can also swim under water, climb on trees, hide herself in bushes to avoid enemies and use a grappling hook! All of this, added to more tools to collect to upgrade guns, moreover she can also change her outfit and each one has a different bonus. In the previous one, you had just 4 weapons and both hunting and gathering were almost useless, they just gave you some xp. While in this one, like in Far Cry, you have a wide range of weapons and you have to kill a bear to obtain its fur and create a holster, or you need to collect mushrooms and wood to make poisoned arrows, just for instance.
Map is twice (or even three times) as big as the prequel and the gameplay is very long, to finish the story you need to take 15 hours, but if you want to explore the tombs, follow secondary missions etc. you can take even more than 30 hours (including also included DLCs and the manor).
Another aspect that I've enjoyed are the tombs. I complained about TR 2013 because of the tombs, in my opinion they weren't enough (just 5) and too easy to raid. While in this new one they are a dozen, more difficult, longer to explore and also more gorgeous.
Then, the feature which I found less interesting: the story. In TR 2013 it was about a myth like in this one, but I found it more captivating and detailed in the previous game.
In conclusion, Rise of the tomb raider is an epic game with stunning settings, a lot of things to do (you never get bored), quite difficult fights in which stealth could be a good strategy, but with a not very captivating plot. By the way, there will be a sequel, and if they put together all the improvements of Rise of the TR with the captivating story of TR 2013, an epic masterpiece will be born.

It's lack of an intriguing storyline relying on ridiculous supernatural plot is even more obvious that before. Uncharted 4 improved a great deal in this area and I really hope this does too in future installments. The side quests never felt like that added any story, but to add lots of checklists to an area. I have a tendency to be a completionist, I found everything in the TR reboot, but I feel all Square Enix have done is add checklists and think this that adds content, I didnt bother to attempt them it this time.

The game is lacking in difficulty too, often there are just too many enemies from everywhere, but bizarrely you take very little damage. The casing point, in an end game battle my controller died, I was able to go to pick up my spare controller, sync it and still not die. Maybe fewer harder enemies?

In short, I love this type of game, the treasure hunting was done very well, the tombs & crypts were impressive. The lack of a realistic or engaging storyline and difficulty meant that that finishing the game was of little interest.

All in all, this game surpasses the previous part of the franchise. It provides much bigger and more beautiful gaming world, more complicated and challenging hidden tombs, more impressive and real combat, better animation, some unobtrusive RPG elements (which make the game more appealing). RotTR is a right mixture of action and exploration. It reminded me of the previous TR games (AotD and Legend). Great game, which will fill several of your evenings with a spectacular, breathtaking adventure and won't make you bored. It continues the idea implemented in the first part and converts it into a decent sequel. With the latest 1.06 patch the game provides a very smooth experience. Kudos to Nixxes! This game cannot decide if it wants to be Uncharted or Far Cry. On one hand you have amazing linear story-driven parts which are as well the best parts of it. Unfortunately they are not what you experience most of the time. Between them you find two large and one medium-sized "open-world" zones. They are filled with collectibles, challenges and side quests. This is the most boring part of game because collecting all this stuff can be compared to more grindy parts of MMOs. There's little incentive to do side-quests and collect all this stuff because just walking through the game on normal difficulty gets you so much stuff that you don't know what to do with it.

There are also some strange aspects of the game like hunting bears and large cats. A hunter would have waited for the beast to come out of it's lair and shoot it from afar or up from the tree. Not in this game, Lara charges head on into these beasts and literally kites them until she shoots them dead. If you run too far or jump on a tree or ledge, animal runs to lair and resets sequence. Brilliant.

The writing is however the weakest part of this game. It's very shallow and dialogues are on the brink of cringe. Main characters and villains both write personal notes about their deepest feelings and thoughts and lay them all around in really high quantities. Lara in her thoughts always refers to herself per "Lara". Nobody does that for crying out loud and it soon becomes irritating and quite hilarious. The main storyline is nowhere as good as Tomb Raider's (2013) - it is predictable and lacks the same mysticism.

The highlights of the game are mechanics, although they have not changed since Tomb Raider (2013). This game is to the predecessor as Crysis 3 was to Crysis 2. This doesn't mean they aren't enjoyable, however they could have done a little more.

The best part of the game are the tombs which are much better than in Tomb Raider (2013). There's also a lot more of them. They offer quite interesting riddles but I wouldn't mind if each was a tiny bit longer and more elaborate.

The graphics are very good but animations and especially facial animations are lacking except for main cutscenes. There's also some severe issue with aliasing on PS4 (I can't say for other platforms). It seems there's simply no AA which is evident in ropes which are frequent sight in this game.

It's also worth mentioning that this game feels a little rough around edges. I found a few bugs playing in December 2016. It's been one year since initial release so I guess they should have been fixed by now. One of them required reload of last checkpoint as it blocked progress (fortunately checkpoints are frequent).

I would sum it up this way. If you liked Tomb Raider 2013, you'll like this one too. It's the same game in different setting with different maps. The story is weaker, but it's serviceable. It actually feels like this game was due for 2013 release but just got stuck in time.

Like the reboot ROTR gives you the ability to fast travel to any section of the game and do side missions or challenges, as well as Tombs you tried earlier but didn't have the right gear. The tombs are insanely good. I'm not much of a puzzle fan because I am really bad at them but ROTR does it just right. It doesn't hold your hand but there are subtle hints if the game senses you in one Tomb too long. The most underrated part of this game I think is the story. I really liked it and as much as I love the Uncharted series, I think ROTR's story is right up their with the best. Controls are super fluid, and is nowhere near as annoying as the reboot's control scheme was. My main criticism is that the game crashed at one point, leaving me trapped in an area without being able to progress in the story. I restarted the game and that seemed to fix it. Apparently it's a common bug in this particular TR game. Overall though, definitely worth a play, especially if you can pick it up on the cheap 2ndhand. Expand

i give a 9 because the story is not great. The lore is awesome however, but the plot is poor. Otherwise the game is a jewel of gameplay, graphisms, animation and level design. This is better than UC4 from my perspective, not mentioning the fact that this edition comes with a lot of extra content.

I thought this was supposed to be one of the best games out there? It isn't.

I've been playing for three days now, and I'll probably update my score when I'm done with the main story, but so far I have to say I'm disappointed. One of the things that intrigued me about the game when I started was the number of difficulties you could select. I imagined playing on "survivor" would mean

One of the things that intrigued me about the game when I started was the number of difficulties you could select. I imagined playing on "survivor" would mean a shortage of resources and ammunition, and all that seemed really exciting, but I was very wrong. I never have trouble with resources or crafting items, the game isn't challenging at all. In fact, I'm not using skill points because I'm afraid that would only make things easier.

Other than that, the game isn't very.. innovative, for lack of a better word. I don't care for the characters so far, and the combat feels really outdated. The graphics are good, but there are a few occasional bugs that can ruin certain animations.

There are a lot of side activities, but there isn't much of a reason to be doing them when I don't need new weapons or new upgrades. I don't need them because I'm doing fine with my default pistol.

I had high expectations for this because I liked the reboot from 2013, but I wasn't expecting it to be so bland.

This game is amazing when it comes to story telling and the graphics. Rise of the Tomb Raider is a fresh start to a new series that has made a great comeback and rumors are that they the working on the next sequel. But I felt like there are boundaries like there is only one way to get in and other to get out so if they had made multiple ways to get in and out it would have been great but in everything else its fantastic.
Its a recommendation to buy this game if its $40 or less.

The game did not age a bit while it awaited its PS4 release. It’s still fantastic and looks stunning. [13/2016, p.71]

One of the best modern action adventures has finally arrived to PS4. Except a few small issues this version is a success, moreover, you will get all DLC along with the game; you can play in co-op and you will experience and extraordinary trip to Lara's home –  even with the support of VR. Set high difficulty, turn off auxiliary indicators and enjoy the Tomb Raider with everything that goes with it.
