All right, it's not a 10/10 this time... But people throwing zeroes around and spouting "I hate Capcom!" are just some serious bulls*tters and they should take a chill pill... Capcom has been on an awesome ride for about 3 years now! They hit it home with RE7, DMC5, RE2 Remake, MHW... At worst I'd call RE3 Remake a blunder on a nearly perfect record after their redemption.

Capcom has been on an awesome ride for about 3 years now! They hit it home with RE7, DMC5, RE2 Remake, MHW... At worst I'd call RE3 Remake a blunder on a nearly perfect record after their redemption.

I haven't played the original, I didn't own a Playstation when Resident Evil series came to be and so I got to the series much later. I fell in love with last year's RE2 Remake and I picked up the rest of the games in the series and began to play through them. RE3 was never easily obtainable on PC though (it's not on Steam like the rest of the series for example), and I really didn't feel like pirating the game and emulating it, so I waited for the remake.

And as a newcomer, I was not disappointed. Quite the opposite actually, the single-player portion of the game is a blast. I am not sure how I feel about the fact that Nemesis is pretty much coming after you only in scripted moments, otherwise he's less of a threat than Mr. X was in RE2 Remake, but this is not a negative for me so much, because Mr. X's unpredictability messed with attempts for speedruns :D

The game is rather short, that's a valid criticism. The multiplayer part is of no interest to me, so I would have preferred to get the game at half the price, but since I was a huge fan of RE2 Remake, I coughed up the money and I don't really regret it. It's just not gonna be an instabuy for many people, but it's worth playing through definitely. It's still a smooth, enjoyable, adrenaline fueled ride with many great moments, but it won't be a 2020 GOTY contender most likely.

While not quite hitting the same heights as 2019’s Resident Evil 2 Remake, Resident Evil 3 is still a stellar game that, while fairly short, hits all the right notes, and is ultimately a very satisfying experience.

Resident evil 3 starts off brightly with it's opening area highlighting all the strengths of peak Re2 but quickly falls off after that. The new dodge move is a fun additional mechanic but it does take the game away from survival horror towards an action game which some may not enjoy. The latter areas in RE3 are either really small or linear hallways with a few branching hallways. The latter areas in RE3 are either really small or linear hallways with a few branching hallways. While RE2 was built around one main area RE3 takes you all over Racoon city and the quality of the game suffers for it as no area is truly big enough to capture the magic of RE2 minus the first area. Nemesis the Mr X stand in makes the box art but it clearly shows a misunderstanding on what made Mr X so great. Mr X was used only a handful of times so every time he showed up he was imposing and each foot step could make you shudder. Nemesis on the other hand feels like he's in half the game and while early encounters are tense by the end you will be sick of his ugly mug. What aids that is some encounters are far to easy dissipating the tension that Mr X created so well. Jill is an enjoyable protagonist and the supporting cast all fulfill their roles diligently but there are no stand outs. The length has come under fire as while it is about as long as an RE2 campaign there are 4 in Re2 compared to the one here. There are no bonus missions present here either. Overall RE3 is a game worth playing but is disappointing due to how great it starts and how averagely it ends. Expand

The top grade graphical and gameplay goodness that was the RE2 remake has even been bumped up to a higher notch here. This game is stunning both visually and auditorily! I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed playing this game. Many people have complained that it's too short. I'm an average player (not some sugar-fixed, twitching, impatient spaz) and it took me about 8 hours to complete. I find this duration almost perfect. I don't live in my parents basement. I actually have a job, responsibilities and obligations. The RE2 remake of last year was nearly perfect but a bit long in my opinion. I don't need a horror game to last 30+ hours. Perhaps a fantasy RPG like FF7 Remake, but then again, a game like that will probably take me months to complete. Yes RE3 has some stages removed from the original but it also has new ones- which I actually think work better in relation to the game's context and narrative. I've seen a bunch of crybaby reviews slamming the game for removing the typical puzzles of 90's video game obscurity. Trust me when I say that those puzzles just do NOT hold up well anymore. We're 2 decades past that. Rehashing those gameplay mechanics just wouldn't work and I always felt in the case of the OG RE3 that it actually stalled and broke up the otherwise superb pacing of A HORROR GAME.

*Also, for the record, there are no QTE moments in this game. If you see reviews mentioning them in the game, you know it's a fake review-bomb*

Stacked up against RE2's remake was always going to be a tall order for this game. In terms of length, replayability and variety of the experience, RE3 falls short of RE2. RE2's ability to play Part A and Part B with either Leon and Claire was excellent providing a similar but different experience that added to the life of the game. With Jill being front and center for RE3, the lack ofStacked up against RE2's remake was always going to be a tall order for this game. With Jill being front and center for RE3, the lack of 2's separate paths is noticeable.

Taken on it's own merits, I believe the game is great, however. Jill's characterization in my opinion is the strongest it's ever been which adds tremendous life to the game. The gameplay changes, such as the dodge mechanic, suits the more action oriented experience in the streets of Raccoon City wonderfully.

    Pros:
    - Jill as a character is stronger than ever. She has great dialogue and feels like a fleshed out character
    - Gameplay feels great. The dodge mechanic adds a new way to play the game as well as the more durable combat knife rather than the degrading one from RE2
    - The story is tight and plays out at a good pace. While my playthrough only lasted 6 hours, it felt like a complete experience.
    - The visuals are gorgeous

    Cons:
    - The game isn't very long. My playthrough landed around 6 hours.
    - No additional post-game content (yet). There isn't a Part B to partake it and it's telling once the credits roll
    - Cut content from the original RE3 is a strange choice

Overall the game is worthy of an 8, in my mind. It's a great experience that would be far more appreciated with a lower than full $60 retail price. Hopefully Capcom adds additional content like the Ghost Survivors missions in RE2.

Okey, and yet again I see a bunch of 0 for a game that clearly is not a 0. Let me explain.
1: It works, it does not crash, it does not fry your hardware. Already here not a zero.

Done with the dumb things, on with the real things.
The game is flawed, as a fan of the original I will say that, still it is a remake, a new version of a 20 years old game. Is there things they could have done differently? Yes. Are there things they cut that I would prefer it they had included? Yes.
It is a good, but short game. So if your plan is to not replay it then I would wait for a sale, if you plan to run it multiple times then I would get it now.

    Pros.
    It looks great.
Good controlls, minus one thing I will mention further down.
    Sounds great.
It is good to be back.

    Cons.
It is on the short end, makes it feel rushed.
Sometimes pressing to get out from something does not work even if you fill that circle, that needs to be patched.
    Nemesis does not feel scary.

It is a good game that, had they given it more time in development, could have been great. Removing and changing things in a remake I have no problem with, just that if you do that you have to replace it with something new. Perhaps they could have expanded the first area with Jill searching for survivers. They could have also expanded some of the other areas, perhaps even having Nemesis showing up less, but making him more scary the few times he shows up.
It could have been so much better, but it is still good, and does not deserve all these 0 from people who think in 0 or 10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a longtime RE fan. I loved the RE2make last year and dumped a lot of time into it. I was super excited and not surprised given the success of RE2 that Capcom would release a remake of RE3. And it does not disappoint at all. 1.) Length and Replay Value- Do not listen to all the salty “fans” on these other reviews saying the campaign is too short to justify a $60 price tag, in my opinion that’s wrong. I spent 8 1/2 hours playing through my first run on hardcore which is a solid length for an RE game. My first play through of RE2 remake took me 7 hours for Part A and 2 1/2 hours for part B. So it’s just barely longer than RE3. With the inclusion of unlockable content including an in game shop that sells game altering items and costumes. As well as a new difficulty called Nightmare that shuffles enemy placement and item placement the replay value is high in the RE3 remake.

2.) Nemesis- I keep hearing Nemesis is completely scripted now. He was in the original too so I don’t understand that complaint. Nemesis is way more intimidating this time around compared to the original. He will cut you off, sprint after you, and pull you to him Scorpion style. Mr. X was intimidating at first in RE2 remake but once you knew his limited move set and how easily avoidable he was he became more of a nuisance. Becoming a road block keeping you from doing the next objective (looking at you RPD Library). Nemesis on the other hand becomes the objective when he is on screen. Down him and you will be rewarded handsomely. Nemesis encounters are set pieces to drive the story forward rather than a road block that was intimidating at first but quickly wore down its welcome like Mr. X. Capcom made the right choice keeping Nemesis scripted. Having Nemesis constantly stalk you at certain times like Mr. X would have been annoying.

3.) Main Characters - Jill is a badass protagonist in RE3 remake and way more fleshed out due to her having PTSD from the Mansion incident in RE1. I liked her voice actress too. She had some funny one liners as well as some serious weighty moments with Carlos and with Nikolai. One scene in particular that stands out to me is when Jill first meets Nikolai and Nikolai promptly shoots and kills a comrade whom he believes is in infected. Jills voice actress and the the motion capture on this scene had me totally invested.

Carlos character is the biggest departure from original RE3. His character and look was dorky in OG RE3 but has been replaced with a suave, smooth talker in the RE3 remake.

Jill and Carlos chemistry is on point and I loved all of their interactions in the cut scenes and walkie talkie conversations.

4.)Gameplay - Gunplay is tight and responsive. Jill and Carlos feel agile and more fluid than Leon or Claire with the included addition of the dodge mechanic you feel better prepared to take on the zombie hordes roaming Raccoon City.

5.)Graphics/Animation- Jill and Carlos hold and aim their weapons in a professional manner. Which might not mean a whole lot to most players but I love accurate representation of tactics and movements, these characters are elite and they should look and feel the part. Where to start with graphics? The RE engine is a powerhouse, the facial expressions are amazingly realistic, giving you the feeling that these characters are real and you want them to survive.

The lighting is superb especially on the streets of RC and in the hospital. Some textures and decals look a little blurry but that’s just a small gripe. The cutscenes are well made, movements are realistic and lip movement is perfectly in sync. Feels like you’re watching a movie. I Didn’t think it was possible but RE3 really does look better than RE2 and I thought RE2 looked fantastic.

6.) Audio- Although I was a little disappointed that the RE3 original soundtrack wasn’t included like the RE2 OST was with the deluxe edition of RE2. I was still kept on edge by the ambient noise. Tension is the name of the game here and this game deserves to be played with a nice pair of surround sound headphones or 7.1 surround sound system. You can hear zombies moan in the distance, water dripping, winds blowing outside. Gun shots sound heavy and feel like they have real weight behind them, especially the Glock 18. The star of the soundtrack is the little things and it’s all incredibly subtle, I played with a pair of Audio Technica 7.1 surround headphones and I was completely immersed in the survival horror.

Bottom Line : RE3 remake is a worthy successor to the RE2 remake. I dare say that I liked this remake just a little bit more than the RE2 remake which is bound to be an unpopular opinion. True RE fans will love diving back into Raccoon City. The graphics were better, the antagonist more intimidating, the gameplay more refined, and the protagonists more believable and likable. Jill’s my girl!

    10/10 (Played on PS4 Pro)

No. But it's still a great game. There are plenty of complaints I have but there's also plenty of praises I have to give this game. It's too short and the Carlos portions of the game are pointless unlike the original RE3 where his hospital visit to save Jill was amazing! Here, not so much. The boss battles are gimmicky and almost battle arena like. The only boss fight that's good is the construction site fight. Also, Nemesis 2nd and 3rd form are terrible. The original did it much better. I love Jill and Carlos. Mikhail and Nicholson, too. All great acting from those characters. Overall, it's an 8.5/10 for me. I rounded it up because this game brings back nostalgia for me. Expand

People need to realise this is a reimagination, not a remake. Just like the RE2R, it takes the best parts of the original and expands on that. The clock tower was boring, the Gravedigger annoying. The game is great but of course old boomers stuck in the past will find any opportunity to hate on something new and modern. 10/10, can't wait for the next remake Capcom.

me surpreendi com o game. Parabens a equipe da capcom.

A solid remake of an original I love.
Its biggest drawback being its length and the tacked on multiplayer I really could not care less about
However resident evil games are made to be replayed over and ver to get a better time and better rank. So I really don't mind all too much

It just needed at least another year to iron out some rough edges. The demo pretty much featured the only time Nemesis stalks you through an open ended section. So that gave away the best thing game had to offer. I just wish the full game represented an extended version of what we got from demo.

End stage so bare & unfinished looking. It reminds me of a training tutorial grid section. Plane, but really wide open. When you run around in this place, it feels like you are walking because everything is placed so far apart from one another. Funny thing too is that the labs in RE games are usually the most decorated parts in the series. RE6 even had a compelling lab section.

RE2 Remake was a labor of love & full of fan service. Somehow they didn’t feel 3 was as much of a priority even though back in ps1 era, RE3 was better than RE2. So with remakes, the roles are reversed. At least we got the coolest versions of Jill, Nemesis, & Carlos from all this. I like everything about the new Nemesis. The mask, the voice, the attacks, his weapons, his mutations. The character artists for this game are gifted with the most amazing talent in the world. Let's just hope the RE2 Remake team is responsible for Code Veronica Remake & that they wait until time is right to give it to us. Yes, I’m in no rush to play. Just would like quality.

One way to redeem it a bit is to patch the death animations & poor collision. When you stab a corpse, it takes you out of experience so bad. I used this as a tactic in RE2 when determining whether zombie was still alive. Now its so static & the dead bodies don’t have any physics. Its like chopping invisible cardboard that doesn’t cut. .......

Is it worth the full $60 price tag? That's entirely up to. If you think it's unfair to charge this price for a 6 hour game then wait for a price drop.

I was naturally PUMPED for this RE3 Remake, and I'm not disappointed, outside of a few minor things. I really can not talk about cut content and how true it is to the original, never having played it, this game on it's own is great, in my personal opinion. My minor complaints and why it isn't a 9.5-10 has to do with the length and replay-ability. I like RE2 more because of its slower pace, puzzle solving and backtracking but the RE3 Remake is a blast to play and I'd give it a strong 8.5 to 9 out of 10. I understand peoples criticisms completely, though. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

While it has one or two flaws such as short length and a couple of missing locations its still a fun game to play. Some of the reviews saying jill is a feminist wahmen is mega cringe. Wouldnt be suprised if they hated the original. Fantastic characterization for the characters. Nicholai, Carlos, Jill and Tyrell get superb upgrades in character development. Carlos had the best lines in the game. Amazing gameplay with some good gunplay. A good arsenal of weaponry and the dodge mechanic is better this time around. Nemesis is more meaner and vicseral, his boss fights are way more fun. Would have liked to see more of him but what we got was enough. Ignore some of the reviews on here, this is a very good game. The reality is RE3 Remake compares to RE2 Remake in almost the same way as RE3 Original compares to RE2 Original. Sure, some of the "iconic" content was cut, but some new content has been added with new story beats, plot twists and action sequences that never existed before this remake. Is it as good as RE2 remake? Probably not. Is it a 0 or a 1 out of 10? Absolutely not! It's still a great game with plenty of moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat. One criticism I agree with is it's a bit short and should have been priced accordingly. Then again, RE3 original was a pretty short game, I remember beating it with my mates in under 4 hours when I was 9 or 10. Expand

As a Resident for me it still a very delightful experience. I also miss some puzzles like the ones on the st Michael Clock tower, but not everything is bad. They included epic boss fights with nemesis that they are really enjoyable (better in Hardcore mode). They did an amazing job with the atmosphere, it's way more noticeable in this game because is the start of the infection, also the story has more drama and the characters fit perfectly in the game. I didn't talk about graphics, they are not important, but they are stunning. I love the ps1 classic and also this remake. both different and with different advantages and disadvantages. I have to comment my opinion about duration... The normal duration of a classic resident evil... 5h - 6h with a good pace exploring all, and if you are new and it is difficult for you 8h or more. RE7 is shorter, and worse in some aspects (i like so much re7, just commenting) People don't be toxic, I have to rate this game as a game. Giving 0 TO EVERY GAME is not helpful for people that are going to pay money for the game. Before buy read and investigate.

The soundtrack is beautiful, the story, the characters, and the final boss was awesome, saying that i don't enjoy resident evil final bosses that much but i really enjoy this one. I know this is not how a lot of people would love the remake to go but it is very recommendable if you ask me. Right now is number 1 im my GOTY 2020 Expand

It’s RE2r with elements of other RE titles. Plus Resistance is awesome and nowhere near a cash grab like COD or something of that nature

Edit: That Molag guy is just confused that it’s not a remaster but a remake so yes there are differences but that should be apparent going into this.

A incredible remake with a improved history but it is too short and don't have a new mode after beat the game like The 4th Survivor or Tofu from RE2.

I enjoyed every single moment playing the game! It's definitely more action packed than the other RE games, but that means there are less puzzles to be solved and it gives the game just a tiny bit more arcady gameplay to it. Which I definitely don't mind. I've played every single Resident Evil game and I like that they differ from each other. So me and my brother just finished the game and I must say, It was such an amazing ride I enjoyed it completely from start to finish and never felt it was getting boring or disappointing, I finished it at around 4'40'00 hours and my brother somewhere about 6':30'00 both playing on standard. With the difficulty cranked to Hardcore it will defineitly increase the length of the game. I did notice that Nemesis appeared less than in the original 1999 release but this didnt bother me at all because I felt that when he did appear it was way more impactful and tense. The game maintins in its majority the survival horror feel from the last game but it is at the same time much more full of action especially during the Carlos segments. I was really surprised when I finished the game and went online to see all the negative reviews I seriously thought the game would get way more praise than its getting. Another thing to mention is that after beating the campaign there is a unlock system that incites you to replay the story again to unlock new weapons, outfits and items, a feature that was missing in the previous game but at the same time this game replaces the mercenaries mode with the online multiplayer known as resistance. This was the only thing I really would say I disliked about the game but REsistance serves as a standalone part of the game and doesnt even have to be downloaded with the main game. I can't wait what more plans Capcom has in store to add to this game in the same vein that they did in Resident Evil 2 with free extra modes (Hopefully we get Mercenaries in the near future) and some cool paid outfit dlc's such as in REmake2. Great fun and the perfect complement to the RE2 Remake. While the main campaign is a little short the additional difficulties and added Resistance game do make up for it. If you enjoyed RE2 then you’ll enjoy this.

Stunning remake that’s too short but very sweet while it lasts. I personally loved the change in gears to more action, even though RE 2 remains a superior game. Taken on its own terms there’s much to enjoy here.

Intense, surprising, with incredible graphics and gameplay, it feels that Capcom wants to deliver a high impact content, yet it did not have that 'unlimited budget' that Sony gave Naughty Dog. The end result is this, along with a completely forgettable online game that is forcefully bundled with this game. Yet, for what its worth, I enjoyed it more than RE 5 and 6. Capcom still at the top of their game here and if you are a fan, you wouldn't go wrong with your purchase. Expand

Least ambitious project to date. If anyone thinks this is good or disagrees with "haters" clearly have no idea what are the problems in this game. People calling this title good, have a really low bar for gaming standards. This is an insult to the original.

Even though it is a very successful game, you will feel a little disappointed. Compared to the remake of the second game, this one often loses its pace and it is impossible to get rid of the impression that there could and should have been more to this game. [Issue#303]

After a stellar remake of an arguably the best Resident Evil game ever made, Capcom has let down our expectations by giving us a more scripted, more linear survival horror action game that will probably be forgotten like so many sequels that have gone the path of less resistance when it comes to game design. RE3 make feels more like a DLC than a full-blown game.
