I really don't like the nemesis, for me it really break the spooky ambiance.

The scary factor of RE2 remake is completely lost and I don't remember the original RE3 to be that weak in term of suspense.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a fan of the resident evil franchise since game one I say this with a heavy heart, the Resident Evil 3 "Re-imagination" falls short. Lets begin by saying if you expect the game kind of changes RE2R made you RE2 you're going to have a bad time. This time they didn't just remove a few enemies and shorten levels. They removed over half the game content such as the clock tower, water treatment plant, and the park. What they did keep was critically reduced to either a few city blocks like down nostalgia corner, or a dynamic cinematic like uptown or the final boss nemesis. They also replaced Jills nostalgic return to RPD with a slapped together speed run of a few rooms with Carlos. Reduced the umbrella factory to a fee few seconds of nest re skined. Gave you a wolf boss fight re skinned with nemesis hound not just once but twice as the only only other boss fight of the game. And for some reason added a power station section that focuses on impregnating Jill via graphic oral technical rape... Legitimate not a joke. A side from this you get to pay full price for a half rendered side demo made from scrap environments left over from RE2R jammed together to allow your avatar to fumble through. With out any side missions or B play through to add replay value this extended cutscene will disappoint you for $1 every minute of actual game play if you buy it on sale. Expand

This game lost all of the exploration factor that added dynamism to the gameplay of the game, much of the game are cutscenes that are no longer exciting after a first or second gameplay, classic enemies have been removed, striking and interesting stretches have been removed from the game as well as Clock Tower and the cemetery. Raccoon Uptown and Downtown have been drastically reduced to a linear route of gameplay that have taken a good time exploring the city. The gameplay and graphics of the game are great but not enough to make up for the plot changes.
The feeling when I finished playing was that I still wanted a remake.

This game is nothing other then a money making scam by capcom. Its obvious they didnt care about the game at all, other then to make money off of Nostalgic fans, like myself. Just kill kill kill - just like RE2 - gorgeous. - it’s been a while since I’ve played the original but it feels relatively true to the original from what I remember. CONS

The story is decent and the gameplay is good. However it sucks that they cut a few things out for whatever reason and that ultimately made the game shorter. It also gets a little repetitive at the end. Overall, it's sort of a lackluster experience and the game isn't worth full price because it feels more like an expansion for RE2, I recommend that you buy the game when it's on sale.

Nothing seems right about this game except human character models. I can't believe that someone has so much to do with the city and the game itself, expand the universe and improve 99' version, wich is still better than this rushed remake. Making it full price, cutting its content makes me wonder what kind of disappointment Capcom has to bring after this sad game.

It looks great but this is a major disappointment after the phenomenal job Capcom did with RE2 Remake. It's shorter and has less replay value than RE2. Nemesis is actually a downgrade compared to Mr X. It actually has less content than the original RE3 which suffered from rushed development back in the day.

The game is also extremely linear and plays more like a movie with the cutscene to gameplay ratio. They also cut out Mercenaries Mode. Confession time: this was the very first Resident Evil game I ever played, I’ve never been interested in zombie media & never played horror games, but it started my obsession with the series that only grows by the month. It also helps that it really isn’t scary aside from the Hospital level which admittedly got me a few times. The focus on action was always there since the original though, so I don’t know why people were upset over that lol. If you compare it to the RE2 remake, yeah it doesn’t really compare well to it, you can tell it was rushed. But considering how many gaming trainwrecks are rushed out nowadays, the fact that RE3 remake works totally fine is a huge win. I wish it was a more in-depth remake like 2 got, but for what it is I still loved it. Jill Valentine & Nemesis coming back is always great! The future of Resident Evil is bright. Expand

IResident Evil 3 (8/10 Great): Resident Evil 3 delivers a cinematic tale of Jill Valentine's desperate attempts to first save and later escape from Racoon City, while being relentlessly hunted by the seemingly unkillable monster Nemesis. Gameplay is great and most levels are well designed and fraught with threats. The levels feel more linear than previous installment Resident Evil 2. I seldom had to go out of my way to find hidden items or secret areas. RE3 also provides an abundance of items and ammo to get through presented challenges; a stark contrast to RE2. RE3's crafting system is identical to RE2 and works extremely well. The player has full control over what types of ammo they want to prioritize crafting. RE3 also switches between two playable characters: Jill and Carlos. The swaps do not feel out of place in the story, and each character plays differently because of their different weapons. The character swap also resets some of the urgency in scouring the world for items. While playing Jill, I knew I had quantitative reserves of healing materials and ammo in my storage. Some of the early boss encounters with Nemesis are obtuse in design but climatic battles with it later in the game are well done. My most memorable moment has to be the final showdown with Nemesis and Jill’s on point one-liner. Overall, Resident Evil 3 provides a short but succinct, well-presented story with great gameplay. A remake of the same re 3 from 1999, the pluses of the game are good animations, graphics, well, the main points from re 3, the minuses are very easy difficulty even inferno, very short campaign, a lot of cut content from re 3, average capcom resident!

dont buy. you will feel your time is being wasted. this game is a chore. The final boss fight is an embarrassing joke. I can't believe someone okay'ed that to be released in such a state. Half the time, you have no control over what the avatar does in game. It's a mess...

Second of all: cut content. The original 700Mb PS1 game beats this mess every day of the week, from here to eternity. Locations, bosses, files, mini-games, and cool little details such as Dario Rosso's diary. Folks, Raccoon City is now a Donut Store, a Police Station, some roofs, a room full of boxes, an Electric Company and a Cable Car plant. Only in Pokémon games you could find "cities" with so few houses.

Third of all: No atmosphere, just scripted stuff that only a middle-schooler could write.

Jill is just playing the tomboy role, and she seems to be indestructible like the characters of an action movie. What a waste of time waiting for this "remake" to be done for almost 10 years.
Who tells this is a good game clearly hasn't played the original. This franchise is done.

I was expecting how is was going to be the harassment of nemesis in this part... unfortunately this didnt happened.

As far for the rest, for me was okey, graphics, sound, characters, etc. definitely a must have game, but not for full price.

BTW, the online feature its a mess, i didnt try it, its was really unnecessary and i think nobody plays it to much. waste of time and money on that part that should have been invested in the main game. a shame.

No idea what happened but let's just say capcom got greedy and went back to making cash grabs. And this really wasn't ok. They did such a great job with re2 so this really is very sad. It's an expensive but short game with little replay.

It looks ok but if you've played a real game like re2 or the excellent days gone. That's a flawed but a huge game with endless variety and end game content. The zombies on re3 are basically rubbish and much of the game is scripted.

Way too much time or money was devoted to the microtransactions heavy online multiplayer rubbish. And that should upset you as one amazing game has been sacrificed for rubbish which will be canned in a year or two.

Sound is good and gameplay fine just nothing special and it's mostly scripted events. This isn't re2remake. And they cut a fair amount out of the original game for again no good reason.

    Buy on sale.

Unfortunately it isn't. It is not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, but all of the stuff I loved from the 2nd game seemed to be missing from this. There is no where near as much puzzle solving. A great part of resi 2 was trying to work out what room you need to go in to unlock certain things, etc, but resi 3 is mostly missing this.

I had heard before the game released that nemesis was relentless and far more frightening than mr X, he is but only in the very first section of the game, after that you only ever face him in incredibly easy boss fights which totally removes the tension from the game. It is also a very short experience and the £50 price is far too expensive for what is on offer. It is still fun to play, so don't think that I am saying this game is bad, it is just disappointing from what came before.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I do appreciate this game, but not without some faults. Yes the beginning of the game was great the first time, but it only annoys me after repeated playthroughs, the amount of cutscenes I'm forced to skip to get to the "meat" of the gameplay doesn't feel fun.

I am indifferent on the "feel" of the city, at times it feels alive... er undead, dead, and just really gamey.
There are parts where they just shoved zombies outside of a fence that you cant get over there to fight them, so you just run past without a care in the world, and it's very blatantly obvious that they failed on the tension front because of that. Overall, zombie placement outside is just poorly done.

Resistance is worthless to me, I have almost never liked any Resident Evil online mode, EXCEPT for Operation Raccoon City, and that's sad.

Well-made and entertaining, but also disappointing. The campaign is only about 6 hours long. Also, Nemesis is a real push over. But despite the flaws, RE 3 is a joy to play and is visually spectacular. Replay value is solid due to plenty of in-game challenges that unlock content. After the success of the Resident Evil 2 remake, Capcom, unsurprisingly, released the remake of Resident Evil 3, a title originally released for PS1, PC, Dreamcast and, a few years later, GameCube. After finishing the campaign in about 5 hours and 20 minutes, it is time to say my justice about this new survival horror from Capcom. Does it live up to the original version?

It is late September 1998, the day before the events of Resident Evil 2. Jill Valentine tries to escape from Raccon City, because chaos is in place. Due to Umbrella's secret experiences, the majority of the population has turned into Zombies. But Jill's life gets even more complicated when she is chased by a big, ugly, horrifying and tooth-armed monster called Nemesis. Along the way, Jill will meet Carlos Oliveira, and together, they will try to find a way to survive the terrible events. And more I don't say to spoil the surprise to those who never played the original.

Resident Evil 3, like the remake of Resident Evil 2, uses the excellent game engine RE Engine and, as you would expect, says goodbye to the fixed cameras of the first Resident Evil. The third-person camera maintains the proximity to the style presented in the remake of Resident Evil 2, and also provides greater realism and immersion, without losing the visual essence of the original game.

When we start the adventure, we can choose between three levels of difficulty: Assisted, Standard and Hardcore. What are the diferences? In Assisted, players have aim assist, recover a certain amount of life automatically, enemies are relatively weak, start the game with an assault rifle and receive more ammunition when crafting. Standard is the typical normal difficulty. In Hardcore, enemies are stronger, ammunition and items are scarcer and crafting gives less ammunition. Newcomers to the Resident Evil series can start with Assisted or Standard to get used to it, but veterans will certainly move to Hardcore soon.

Avoid spending bullets on zombies, use on bosses instead, especially in the most advanced difficulty, is the best option. For those who already know the Resident Evil series, weapons like pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, rocket launchers and grenade launchers are present in this remake. The same goes for healing items, such as Green and Red herbs.

In terms of gameplay, it is very similar to the remake of Resident Evil 2, so anyone who liked this title will have a huge smile playing this remake. It's fun to explore Raccon City with this super smooth and fluid gameplay. It should be noted that Jill has the dodge mechanics as they had in the original game, which makes sense, since he is an operative with more training than Leon and Claire. However, there is a difference. Now, when executing a perfect dodge, the action slows for a few moments, thus giving an opportunity to counterattack.

Graphically, it maintains the same graphic quality as the remake of Resident Evil 2. For those who are fans of this series or games of this genre, it is quite satisfying to see the pale and lifeless faces of the zombies, as well as the detail of their wounds, and the way they are staggering towards us. The same goes for zombie dogs and other monsters. The characters and enemies underwent redesigns in order to modernize their look, as is the case with Jill, Carlos and Nemesis. In the case of Jill, there was a positive redesign in my opinion. I know this might be awkward for some fans of the old design, but the Jill Valentine of the original looks more like a character in the James Bond films, whereas in the remake version, I feel like she really is a character of Resident Evil universe.

As for the differences between the original and the remake, one with great impact is the absence of different endings and choices that affect the course of the adventure. This ends up having a consequence in the game's longevity, because there is less incentive to repeat the campaign. In addition, the Mercenaries mode has also been cut from the remake, further reducing single-player content. In place of this mode is Resident Evil Resistant, a 4 v 1 multiplayer mode.

It is certainly funny to see Nemesis trying to hit us with a Rocket Launcher, but I think the tension in the original has been reduced. Even Syndrome, which was a terrible game, showed more tension, despite its technical mistakes being even more frightening. Yes, the songs in this remake are good and fit well in different situations, but nothing more than that. The short campaign and the absence of any single-player content is also not in favor. Resident Evil 3 is a good game, but it could have been a lot better if certain things hadn't been cut.

Resident Evil 3 feels more of a repeat of Resident Evil 2, except everything done worse. Nemesis was a badly thought out villain who wasn't as terrifying or bad as Capcom made him out to be. The game was too short, and the pacing was off. Overall I was really disappointed with Resident Evil 3.

This was tough to judge, but ultimately I feel that Resident Evil 3 is simply the sum of its parts and that some of those parts fall short as it is. This is a great game to buy on sale and play over a weekend (or possibly one day) and probably never feel the urge to return to it.

I don't usually like to bring up pricepoints in reviews, but for some reason it's unavoidable in this game.

I don't usually like to bring up pricepoints in reviews, but for some reason it's unavoidable in this game. Maybe it's the stunning visuals, sometimes marred by obvious and awful flaws. Maybe it's the fantastic area designs which impress at first but are systematically abandoned by the game before they can truly charm. Or maybe it's the misuse of Nemesis, who from the beginning is so nerfed that I literally never once worried about him.

This could have been something special, if not on par with last year's phenomenal Resident Evil 2. Even as a brief, spin-off adventure, it could have succeeded if it committed more to its ideas. But as it is it seems they may have decided to play it safe at the last minute. The game decidedly feels not just the usual "unfinished" or "unpolished" but downright amateurish and unprofessional. It would not surprise me to learn that this game was made by a junior team. I don't hate it, but I'm never ordering this dish again.
