Y quiero resltar, NO SON MUCHOS.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm a hardcore RE fan that played most RE games (except the terrible ones), and I have a mixed feeling about this one. In my opinion, this is a brilliant edition that added a whole new spin to the game while preserving certain moments from the good old RE3 that we all remember.

I definitely enjoyed playing it, and more importantly, I appreciated the face lift and the new changes that were introduced. The remake enabled me to play my old beloved RE3 once again after all those years, and on a much superior platform, while keeping me intrigued by "what else is new here". However, I feel that a few crucial events, moments or encounters from the old RE3 were missed or dismissed in the remake, and this was hard to ignore within the short play time that the remake has to offer.

This game could have offered a lot more, but I was short and sweet, and definitely worth playing. Thanks to the legends of CAPCOM and I look forward to more remakes!

I was never interested in playing Resident Evil 3, but after playing Resident Evil 2, I wanted to play even more Resident Evil games.
I could've played Resident Evil 7: biohazard, however, I'm not a big fan of horror games, so I decided to play Resident Evil 3 because it doesn't emphasize on horror as much as Resident Evil 7 does.

Just like in every other Resident Evil game I've played, the story in Resident Evil 3 isn't good but it's not an important part of these games anyway.
The characters though, they're... alright, I guess? The side-characters are completely irrelevant but the main characters are actually pretty likable.
The gameplay is very similar to Resident Evil 2's gameplay but faster and more smooth, it's extremely fun once again, however, the headshots don't feel as satisfying for some reason, and the puzzles have been toned down so much, they're almost absent.
Also, the atmosphere is really good for the most part and it's not surprising that the graphics are incredible, and the audio design is amazing too.
Now, I haven't played the original game before, so I don't mind the cut content, however, I suppose because of that, the game is very short; it only took me 4 to 5 hours to finish my playthrough, and that's a bit underwhelming.
Last but not least, Nemesis, a tyrant who is supposed to be a major threat in the game, is not utilized well; he only appears in linear scripted events or boss fights, which are disappointing.

    Pros:
    + Addictive gameplay
    + Serviceable characters
    + Great atmosphere
    + Fantastic visuals & audio

    Cons:
    - Puzzles are lacking
    - Short run-time
    - Nemesis & boss fights

Resident Evil 3 might be a weak Remake but it's actually a good game on it's own, despite mostly feeling like it's an overglorified DLC for Resident Evil 2.

    Do I recommend it?:
To be honest, I'd recommend playing Resident Evil 2 instead, but if you already played Resident Evil 2 before, I'd recommend Resident Evil 3 at low price.
Resident Evil 2 does everything Resident Evil 3 does, but better.

It's not a bad game just a bad remake! So much cut content, Clock Tower, the Grave Digger, etc. And the worst part is how they did Nemesis, he only chases you around in the first part of the game, and then he only appears in scripted moments, especially during the game’s second half. If you've never played the OG RE3 then you'll love this game.

Kinda what I expected, is not as bad as some people say it is, however it was definitely not worth the full price since is VERY SHORT and has no replayabilty, it could ve been more open and better, yes, it could ve been more fun gameplay wise. This is in between re2 and re4 and has little stuff from each one of them, its not as restrained as re2 but its neither as fun as re4.

It just can't compete with the RE2 Remake as it feels like less of a complete experience overall. It's so strange they cut the clock tower portion of the game considering they had the police station already built from RE2 Remake. Kind of feels lazy. It's fun to play - no doubt! As it's more action focused and includes a dodge, but pick it up on a heavy sale.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I understand why people feel disappointed with this game, but i liked it. It gave me pretty good scares, the. Nemesis at the downtown was terrifying with his new design, even though that he goes down by one grenade. But if you play it on nightmare or inferno there will be a small chance that you will even get a grenade because you have to use them against the other monsters. I love this version of Jill and Carlos too!.

Literally every encounter i had with the nemesis was terrifying. And they should have included the clock tower.

I really think that they could have done way better with this game but unfortunately no.

This game is a solid 7.9/10.

And btw when the nemesis turned into that dog thing he wasn't even scary. But when he turned into that giant thingh in the end, he was a little scary... Just a bit.

RE3remake however, was a disappointment. I did not feel like the game is shorter than RE2remake as everyone said (it has only 1 character but the time of 1 playthrough is not much different). The main problem is that the atmosphere of suvival horror is gone !. Jill and Carlos felt like they are storming the place rather than find a way to survive. Especially, on Carlos campaign, zombie horde is just too many and felt tiresome to kill. Devs here had misunderstanding the charm of RE. The excitement did not came for shooting zombies, but the atmosphere and the shortage of ammo. 2 zombiles with only have 5 ammo handgun left are much more horror than 5-6 zombiles with your 100 ammo assault rifle. Too many ammo has giving in standard, but the game is still more difficult than RE2 in enemy placements and nasty attack (1hit kill) from some enemies.

Moreover, Nemesis is even more destroying atmosphere. When it comes, it breaks immesion of horror survival entirely. Because we knew it was scripted. It is becoming annoying, rather than fear like Mr.X. Because for Mr.X, you don't know where he is, when he will appear, and everytime he comes, you will hear foot step first, so you get pressure to do things quickly. When Nemesis come, the game become like super soilder vs monster instead, full mode action game. Cutscenes with Nemesis also felt very unrealistic. In reality, Jill should have died too many times or at least got some broken ribs.

Anyway, the game is still fun in some sections I have to give them that. I might give 7/10 if it is not named RE. Jill is pretty much felt like Lara Croft to me. Story is not as good as RE2remake either. It is sadly a disgrace in remake series.

However, it fails to be better than, if not as good than either of them. If I didn't know any better, I'd say this is a Resident Evil 2 Remake DLC. That's how half ass it feels. A **** load of content was removed that was in the original. I was looking forward to the park and exploring the clock tower whch were really important levels in the orignal game. I get there are some interesting new ideas but cutting great content that made the game great shouldn't have been an options. Moving on to the gameplay aspects of things let's talk about Nemesis first. I keep hearing mixed perceptions on him but my opinion on Nemesis is that he's **** ass and he's barely terrifying . In this he don't even live up to his name. He's heavily **** scripted. The big guy only makes an appearance when you do something. Mr. X from RE2 actually searched the precinct for you and although he was slower and didn't use weapons he felt more scarier because you know he was mostly always there looking for you. I realize Nemesis was scripted in the original but it was down better because he felt like more of monster than an annoyance. Boss fights with Nemesis are horribly done. The first fight was ok. The scenery of the construction site being in gulfed in flames while taking on Nemesis was awesome. Although fighting him felt more like a tom and jerry cat and mouse situation. But next fight was poorly designed. For some reason all of a sudden fire affects him. So he falls into the water and mutates into a hugh reptile thing??? When fighting him I died like four times. He was lighting this larger **** up with mines and fire rounds he wouldn't go down. I eventually got passed it, but that boss fight was poorly integrated. The enemies are pretty rough but that's expected for a Resident Evil game. However what really annoys me is that when Jill will be in dark ass areas and not turn her damn flash light. So I'm always getting nabbed because I can't see what's coming until the last minute. If you seen my streams you would know how much this pissed me off. I literally was about to take a whole entire **** point off for this **** Jesus **** Christ! The length of the campaign 5-6 hours? Like what the **** Really Capcom this is what you call a $60 game? Ok beforeI blow a blood vessel let's talk about a few thing I like. Jill and Carlos are awesome characters. Jill is well designed, she's beautiful, well acted and an all around down to earth despites what's going on. Carlos is **** hilarious with his one liners. Although Jill constantly shoots him down when he shoots his shot his confidence never waivers. And he's kind of like a superhero. The storyline really makes you wanna read on the missing documents especially in the U.S.B.C I hope I'm getting their acronym right. The zombies come in a lot of packs, so you better bust your gun. Don't bother trying to run past them if there's more than 3 coming towards you. I had to constantly learn that the hard way. There are also new enemies like the hunter B, these sewer monsters that will eat you whole if you get too close and these insects from the original game that will put their maggots down your throat. LOL wow... Racoon City seems has a more simplistic design in this one, but it does look stunning. And nice to see that back tracking is still nicely designed and shows it could still work newer in games. However, the environments streets are blocked off by cars and barrucades and are narrow so running away like I said is barely an option. But it was pretty much like this in the original so I'll give them that one. While this game has quite a few redeeming factors it still feels like they rushed the game and literally started on it after finishing RE2 Remake which was a year ago and it's feel so inconsistent. That being said I'm rating it a 6.5/10. At first I was going to give it a 7. But bringing up all this made me realize it isn't a 7. It's hard to believe IGN gave this a 9... For me to give a game a 7 it has to at least feel like it was worth $60 bucks. RE3 Remake wasn't. I love Resident Evil. But Capcom needs to stop rushing it's titles and bringing ideas no one asked for. Expand

No idea what happened but let's just say capcom got greedy and went back to making cash grabs. And this really wasn't ok. They did such a great job with re2 so this really is very sad. It's an expensive but short game with little replay.

It looks ok but if you've played a real game like re2 or the excellent days gone. That's a flawed but a huge game with endless variety and end game content. The zombies on re3 are basically rubbish and much of the game is scripted.

Way too much time or money was devoted to the microtransactions heavy online multiplayer rubbish. And that should upset you as one amazing game has been sacrificed for rubbish which will be canned in a year or two.

Sound is good and gameplay fine just nothing special and it's mostly scripted events. This isn't re2remake. And they cut a fair amount out of the original game for again no good reason.

There is no where near as much puzzle solving. A great part of resi 2 was trying to work out what room you need to go in to unlock certain things, etc, but resi 3 is mostly missing this.

I had heard before the game released that nemesis was relentless and far more frightening than mr X, he is but only in the very first section of the game, after that you only ever face him in incredibly easy boss fights which totally removes the tension from the game. It is also a very short experience and the £50 price is far too expensive for what is on offer. It is still fun to play, so don't think that I am saying this game is bad, it is just disappointing from what came before.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This remake of Resident Evil 3 left a lot to be desired, I played the game and played it twice already, it is fun, in my opinion it has good gameplay and the graphics are very good.
But unfortunately I didn't like it, besides the parts that were removed, the game has script and logic problems that didn't exist in the original game.
When I played Resident Evil 2 remake I was bothered by Mr X because he looked a lot like Nemesis in classic Resident Evil 3 so I figured CAPCOM would change Nemesis even more insane than it was, but it was very disappointing , he is only a "Stalker" only in one part of the game, in other points the chases are in cinematographic parts that it was very boring.
These transformations were more or less and maybe they would not be bad if they only complemented the previous transformations, the fights with Nemesis in my opinion are also not very nice, they are very "cinematic" too and the animal does some things that I don't have no sense, he keeps showing himself with the firearm and the bazuka, doing poses I don’t know, I don’t know how to explain it well but I found it strange.
The old game had different paths that we could follow showing different faces of the story which was really cool and had more than one ending, this is a point that I saw few people commenting on.
Now, after actually playing the game, I still don’t agree with a score below and 6 or 7, but I completely understand who assigned low scores like that, the game is very inferior in script and plot in relation to the old game and this is one of the points where he could not go wrong at all. I know that many will not agree because the acting of the actors is magnificent you connect with the characters because they really burst into incredible acting, but it is still well below what it should be.
It's a generally fun game, but it doesn't live up to the original work by any means.

    - Characters are excellent. Really enjoyed!
    - BOWs are excellent. Hunter Gamma and Beta look great!

    Negative elements:

    - Absence of backtracking! Absurd. It's the biggest feature of the franchise's success! Respect the tradition!
    - Cutting of scenarios for transferring chapters. I think it's a mistake! Carlos was to walk to the Clock Tower to find Jill. It would be fantastic.
    - New Raccoon City locations could be explored, such as The Mall, Library, Stadium etc. It would be wonderful if you could get inside the Clock Tower, under some justification.
    - Absence of puzzles. And what are there are stupid, like the puzzle of precious stones. The only interesting puzzle was the connection of the subway energy.
    - Absence of classic scenarios that could be reformulated and revisited (Raccoon Press, Clock Tower, City Hall, Gas Station etc.)
    - Brad's death was inappropriate.
    - Crates scattered around the scenario. I think this level design option is very silly. It is inconsistent, it is not immersive and it is not serious. It has an arcade and game appeal from the past decade. You should put bags and backpacks to be opened. The trunk of police and civilian cars could be exploited instead of these crates.
    - Lack of explanation about the RPD events. Where's David Ford?
    - Very small and uninspired city scenery. It was simplified and very poor. A loss of opportunity!
    - Repetitive and reused zombies. Laziness?
    - Excess and repetition of suitcases and locks. Couldn't there be other models?
    - The physics of the game suffered a clear setback. JIll / Carlos movements less than Leon / Claire. The gameplay is not as tasty as the RE2r. The REsistance game has a more responsive control mechanic than the RE3r.
    - There are no zombie mutilations. Shots impact is much less than RE2r.
    - Carlos' dodge, with his super punch, is stupid and very tacky. I was scared if he would also have a spinning kick, a suplex blow or punch a rock.
    - Nemesis became tacky and gaudy. Nemesis spiderman? Maybe if he was a little faster than Mr. X, but a lot more deadly, it would make the character more scary. It was very exaggerated. It got more boring than scary like Mr. X.
    - I think the badass personality of the main characters is something so old-fashioned and silly. I think you need to get out of that silly formula. I prefer humanized characters with more dramatic and real phrases.

    - The gameplay is very short. If the Clock Tower had been explored inland, if the Gas Station had been visited and if the city had been wider and more exploitable, like some boutiques, the game could have lasted much longer. Also, I believe that the Raccoon Subway scenario could be explored, as in RE Outbreak2, to prolong the hours of play. The expansion of the Hospital and the addition of NEST 2 was great. But the classic scenarios could not have been missed.

I missed the City Hall. Will we have a new game in Raccoon City, where the building will be explored and there will we know the fate of Michael Warren? I read it on the internet from a fan, and it sounded very appropriate.

Learn CAPCOM! Do not abandon backtracking and exploration. Do not abandon puzzles. The game appears to have been produced in a hurry and with a lack of patience. Don't repeat that mistake, please, in the next remake.

For me, Remake or reimagination (it doesn't matter) needs to keep the original and classic elements of the game. There can be no losses, only additions, as occurred with NEST 2, the Hospital and the Sewer. RE1r is masterpiece because this.

Shorter, linear, less sophisticated but still enjoyable version of RE2 Remake. Feels like spin off with simple guileless story strengthening that impression. Dodge mechanic made action much more pleasurable though, especially boss fights. "Relentless pursuer" Nemesis is far less a pursuer than Tyrant from RE2 which is kinda funny. Not worth full price.

Is a decent game, but not a RE3 Remake. Too short and linear. I was happy the series got back to its roots on RE7 (wich was great) and RE2 Remake (also great, dispite the cutt offs). But this installment made me divided. The first part of the game was great, and that's it. The design of the Hunters were pretty great and they are awsome. Carlos is awsome, the cinematics are great. The OST is ok, with original tracks remixed. The ties with RE2 were fine. But RE soul is to explore, to backtrack, to solve riddles and puzzles. This is a deal breaker for me, i wont be buying any titles from here on, CAPCOM begun to make great things with RE Engine but it seems they entered the "confort" zone again. The game took me 3.5 hours to finish which left me felt empty confused and angry I spent $80 (AUD) on this and was hoping for more of the resident evil 2 which was 8 hours and had four playthroughs. This game was missing enormous moments like character deaths (they where different in the original), locations, bosses/enemies and the thing that I loved in the original, multiple choices and multiple endings, this adds so much replay value to the game. Also I felt nemesis was under used compared to Mr X, he doesn't stalk you around the city, he just stalks you from a certain set piece until you get to the next exposition dump or cutscene. Also the game is way to easy and the best modes are locked until you complete the harder difficulties. Apart from the first nemesis boss the others are pretty bad and are reuses.

Now to the positives. The graphics are beautiful from Jill to the new zombie models, it looks great, maybe a tad better on main character models than 2 remake. Nemesis is frightening when he actually chases you and he makes sure he is always near you. He is also pretty badass in cutscenes and made me definitely want more of him. The opening is amazing and left me with high expectations (which where let down). Pretty much up until 1.5 hour mark the game is extremely fun and I loved it, I didn't do much exploring but when I did I found some cool things.

Overall this game is ultra disappointing but for most of the time I played I enjoyed the game until the end which fell down extremely fast in quality. I hope they give us some updates to put more of the original content into the remake which will easily make the game worth it. At the moment this game is only worth $20-$30 (AUD).

A remake full of disappointment. Capcom should have done a better job here. I like how the characters have been improved over the original but many of the original game content was cut from the remake, which I have no idea why. Just not nearly as good as RE2.
Truthfully, I haven't played the original RE games 1 through 5. But I understand the RE veterans being mad about this, I would be too if they f'd up Metal Gear 1 + 2 remakes from the NES era. So I understand.

In my opinion, RE3 was alright, though I agree it felt like a RE2 DLC. Nevertheless I had a good time with it. Like most I didn't bother with the multiplayer. It took me about 7 hours to complete the game, and that was with checking every knook and cranny in the game for ammo and healing items on hardcore difficulty. It wouldn't be fair of me to compare this to the original game, because it didn't play it, so nor shall I. My biggest gripe with this game was that the big baddy (Nemesis) doesn't feel as threatening as the RE2's Mr. X who could just burst through a door at any point, so you never felt safe. In this game, Nemesis encounters is scripted. Which was a big let down for me. Otherwise I thought the game was fine, entertaining enough, and the story was a little above average in my opinion. I might play this again to get my sweet platinum, but I'm not feeling the urge to play it again, like I did with RE2. If you haven't bought this game yet, I would wait for a sale, or borrow it from a friend. Like I said I wanted to keep this short, which I failed at, so to summarize in one sentence:

    It was aight.

TL;DR: It was fun while it lasted, so 4 hours basically. I say wait for the price to come down to about €20 to €30 and then go for it. It’s still worth a shot but not as good as the other remake, RE2. 6.5/10

I’ll cut this review in 3 parts:
    1. Gameplay
    2. Story
    3. Replayability

    Gameplay:
The gameplay in RE3R is very similar to RE2R, mainly because of the new engine they use. It’s very fluid and feels good to use, no real negatives on this. The guns feel good and are realistic. My main problem is how they handled it, it’s a lot more action packed then survival horror, which is a shame (please don’t let this end up like RE6). What’s mainly new here is the dodge mechanic. If you time your dodge correctly you’ll roll and mitigate all incoming attacks/damage. I think this kind of goes against what Resident Evil is supposed to be, survival horror. With a move like this you basically don’t have to be afraid of anything, plus it’s very cluncky and doesn’t always work (I know you can buy the STARS book for it to be easier but that doesn’t count). The graphics look amazing and the voice acting is really good but sometimes the lip syncing was completely off. Also they downgraded the gore from RE2R so that’s a big no no. You should never censor your games Capcom.

    Story:
For people who have played the original, you would know the story is different and they did cut out some content and the choice system (which is complete bs), but I didn’t play the original. I thought the story was good, but a little short, my first time playing through took me 4 hours, which compared to my RE2R first playthrough is 4 hours less. And this is my biggest problem with this game, for the current price tag of €60, it’s wayyy too short. A real bummer. I guess the price does factor in RE Resistance, whatever that abomination is. Also, I felt like the game was very linear, you don’t really come back to previous area’s or go off the beaten path, it’s pretty straightforward, this hurts the replayability (which we’ll go over later). Finally, the boss fights. They weren’t bad, but they weren’t spectacular either. The main enemy in the game is Nemesis, and by all the hype I heard about him I thought I was gonna **** my pants while fighting him. Turns out, not so much. He’s scary, yes, but I’m dissapointed they didn’t use him more. Besides the first downtown area he doesn’t roam around and kill you for the rest of the game. You see him 4 more times. 2 of these boss fights in his dog like stage are pretty much the same (the ones where he circles around you, and then you have to shoot him off of something). Maybe they could’ve added a little bit more variety. So yeah I was a bit dissapointed by how they handled Nemesis, but I guess I got hyped up too much. All in all, solid with a little bit too much action and too short, best way too describe this is short but sweet.

    Replayability:
Here’s my biggest problem, RE games are designed to make you play multiple times, so you can unlock more stuff or experience the story in a different way, this is not the case here. Because the game is so linear and no S+ ranks (as of now correct me if I’m wrong) being available. There’s little reason for you to go through the story again, because all those cool extra’s you unlocked for achieving these high ranks are now in a shop. A **** shop. Who thought this was a good idea?? Now when someone has the infinite rocket launcher they’ll just say: ‘Oh, I just bought it... with points..’ Now you might argue you get these points by playing the game multiple times but good **** luck getting the infinite rocket launcher by only playing the game over and over again normally. The easiest way to get it is to ‘farm’ the kill challenges on a save and then reloading that save, rinse and repeat. Farming?? In a RE game??? How low have we gone Capcom? The fun in getting these infinite weapons was playing the game on hardcore and getting high ranks, it was not easy with simple challenge farming! You had to really know the game and have some skill! That fun is now gone.

My final verdict is a 6.5/10
It was fun while it lasted, so 4 hours basically. I say wait for the price to come down to about €20 to €30 and then go for it. It’s still worth a shot but not as good as the other remake, RE2.

The original had side stories that further made you feel invested into the game such as Dario’s story in the beginning where he lost his daughter, the awesome cutscene of the battle between RPD and the zombies, saving Brad from the zombie and then his death, the Nemesis mostly keeping his form and character until the final battle, and I always thought the room at the dead factory where you fight the final nemesis form was awesome where you see a bunch of dead mercenaries and T-002 tyrants signaling a major battle took place there (that would have been an awesome battle to explore). Rather than providing us with that sense of wonder, we get a generic story with cliche characters, and the Nemesis is watered down. I did not understand why the change to make Nemesis into a fish creature and then a blob as that was already done with Birkin. I’m disappointed that this game could have been so much more. Expand

The game is good but that's what makes it more disappointing. Lack of Puzzles and cut off areas which makes it feels that the game is rushed. The characters are very good but they changed some stuff that will make hardcore fans pissed of mainly because when you buy a re3 remake you probably imagine Jill in certain situations that just are not there.

Not bad but an opportunity has been missed to increase the replayability. Having different choices in the original was analogous to RE2's scenario A & B, that is missing in the RE 3 remake.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The opinions is very mixed, some loved this new "Resident Evil 3", some not, but who dont loved this game must be considered a t***c fans? I think it's wrong, but let's start in order.

The series of Resident Evil started in 1996, the strongest theme of this series was "survival Horror"
A misc of action, exploration, solving mysteries and variations of puzzle, with sense of suspense and tension, it also took a lot of strategy for reach to the goal.
Another strongest impact of this series were the particular characters and backgrounds designs, they gave a strong impact and make them unique, different from any videogames.
The first 3 titles, plus Code Veronica, after so many years, they still continue to fascinate, Shinji Mikami still a genious.

We all remember the first Remake of "Resident Evil" for Gamecube, it had not only an graphics improvements, but it has kept the original features and designs of the first game with additional contents and stories, it had surpassed all expectations, still a masterpiece, probably the one of the best "Remake" of the history.
After the success, many fans hoped for a similar remake of 2 and 3, like the first game, with many improvements, but unfortunately the years passed without news.

From RE4 on, many things changed, the series becomed much action and moved a bit away from the original theme and concept that was the series, however RE4 was a enjoyable title, an enjoyable new experience, RE5 was decently fun too, but i think RE6 was gone a little further...

Resident Evil 7 was a surprise, the "return to the origins of the Survival Horror", if i remember correctly, the devs also said "the series had becomed too much action".

After RE7, a Remake of "Resident Evil 2" was unexpectedly announced, but the first impressions were mixed, because of the new characters designs, too much realistic, also the modernized gameplay system without fixed camera, completely different from the "Remake" version that many people was expected, but thanks to the release of the Classic Costumes and the return of the minigames, even the skeptical fans decided to give a chance.
Though the game was not so long and modernized for the current generation, the Remake version of RE2 maintained his spirit, the thrill and suspense, with puzzles and misc of action, very close to the original, great balance for the new and old generations!

After the Remake of RE2, many fans has very big expectations for a future Resident Evil title, especially for a possible Remake of "Resident Evil 3"!
But after the Remake of RE3 was officially announced, after hearing about some cuts, difference from the original version, changes of the designs and more, the fans were again very skeptical, bute the "classic costumes via pre order bonus" had attracted attention, but after the release of the game, many realized that the classic costume was a "bait"...

The new Resident Evil 3, has a very high quality of graphics and visual, cinematic stories level with more detailed characters, almost everyone agrees on this, but the problem of this game is the less spirit, contents and love for the fans that this game doesnt have...
This game removed the most important part of the original version, the original game was supposed to be a "city version" of the mansion (RE) and RPD (RE2) with many exploration, variations of puzzles to solve, sudden appearance of Nemesis and creatures with scary tension and suspence, people has very big expectations after the latest titles in recent years, included Monster Hunter World and Devil May Cry 5.
But this game go completely against the original version of what "Resident Evil 3" was, it becomed an absurd modernized action videogame than "survival", clearly adapted for the new generation and different public, unfortunately even the difficulty of the game doesnt change the fact.
This game doesnt have the most iconic places of Raccon City, not expected an open world level but something close.
No exploration and no puzzles, the area of the demo was the most fun and interesting part of the game personally.
The most thing you do in this game is "keep going" in a railways, so many linear route, you experience only the "moment", not like in the previous game that you are able to return for discover and explore something new (the most stuff that you unlock is weapons and munitions)
No Jill at RPD also no interaction of her and Marvin.
From half part of the game seem to playing an modernized TPS game than a RE.
Also the hospital is modernized and different from his original design, it becomed flat without any creativity, it lost his vintage / retro style and the lab clearly recycled from RE2 but more big (with live action movie reference maybe?)
There are still so many negative things, the game is "good", but its NOT a "Remake" version that fans expected.

The point is not about the "taste" but "what a Resident Evil are supposed to be"!

As a fan im very disappointed and sad.

Basically Capcom is just making a cash grab with this release banking on people's nostalgia and people coming off Resident Evil 2 Remake. All you had to do was mimick the original, maybe update the dialogue and puzzles. Do what you did for RE2 and we would have had another winner but you gave us this monstrosity instead. For what it's worth, it's still an enjoyable short ride and Carlos was a standout character but really, they should have never released Resident Evil: Resistance, something that nobody wanted or ever asked for and should have spent those resources in creating a better and longer gameplay experience.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ve played RE as they came out. So I’ve seen the series evolve. I loved the re2remake but this game was a terrible disappointment. The game ,for one, cut mercenaries mode, clock tower, grave digger, park, waste facility, live decisions, puzzles are completely gone except for 2 pathetic quick puzzles, no crows, no spiders (still), no epilogue files. Cut content everywhere.

No backtracking gets me a lot though. It’s way too linear to have any real replay value. Walk forward, cutscene, kill enemies, cutscene, set piece boss fight, cutscene. Near zero backtracking and it just becomes super boring. Nemesis is regulated to boring set piece boss fights and is only a bipedal enemy chasing you for 20 minutes then completely ceases to be a factor whatsoever. The disrespect they did to Nemesis is just awful. It near ruins the game. If you’re a old school RE fan I don’t think you’ll like this game at all. Post RE4, maybe.

The good things is the characters were portrayed great, graphics is still outstanding, gameplay still is tight, hospital segment is actually great until it ends with a game time pad segment.

What I hate is backtracking is near nonexistent, nemesis design and gameplay and utility is worse as it gets, camera gets clunky as hell during boss fights for some reason, Carlos goes to RPD instead of Jill, brads death isn’t shown at all, the game cuts to the train (traincar) part way way WAY to quickly essentially skipping a third of the game. The city was actually smaller than the original. One of the huge set pieces of RE3 is reduced to a single street. Basically what you see in the demo is what you get with the city. That’s it. This game was grossly rushed and pushed at the same target audience as RE6. I don’t know WHAT capcom was thinking. RE2r was a mixture of new and old while preserving the hallmarks of resident evil. The hallmarks are 1. Resource management 2. Puzzles 3. Branching paths that allow backtracking and exploration (Files and side story elements) in a highly detailed environment to get familiar with 4. Tough but fun combat with dangerous enemies 5. 2 playable characters. If these elements are fallowed it’s pretty much destined to be a at least a enjoyable RE game.

Plainly put, RE3r isn’t the worse RE game I’ve played but it’s easily in the bottom 1/3rd. Its also major disappointment that betrays it’s source material and the RE hallmarks I mentioned. I give it a 6.1/10 which is not a good score. It’s a near fail.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After beating this game 3 times now, once on Normal, Hard, & Nightmare mode, I'd say I'm ready to review it.

Let me first stick to my positives. Graphically this game is great, maybe even slightly better than RE2 Remake. Nemesis new design is great & more monstrous this time around. The dodge feature from the original RE3 has been improved upon greatly imo, as I never really got the hang of the dodge maneuver from the original. Character wise I liked the updates for Jill & Carlos. The Hospital section of this game is excellent from atmosphere & level design. Also the harder difficulties have good variences as far difficulty as well as enemy placements, well at least on Nightmare mode & Inferno although I haven't beat it on Inferno yet.

Now for the negatives & unfortunately there's a lot of negatives for me.
I'd say my biggest problem with this game is the it is that Raccoon City is too small & linear to me. The game being short isn't necessarily the issue for me as the original RE3 is short as well, although I took longer to beat it than the Remake the last time I played which was about a month ago. Now I will say it's not that the original RE3 was that big either but that doesn't mean the Remake should have been small as well, after all a great Remake like RE1 adds on to things & locations, not take away from them which goes into my next complaint.

To many areas and things cut from the original, like not being able to create stronger ammo for instance. The cut locations from the original RE3 is The Clock Tower, The Newspaper Office, Gas Station unexplorable in Remake, Restaurant unexplorable in Remake, Downtown section is the beginning of the original RE3 & this is unexplorable as well since you can't backtrack to it. City Hall, The Park, The Graveyard & the Dead Factory as well as a few other locations are missing in this Remake. Now I know they replaced the Dead Factory with the Lab in the Remake. I personally prefered the Dead Factory for a number of reasons I won't spoil from the original.

Next on the list is the linear structure of this game. In the original you were given these choices on if you wanted to fight Nemesis or do a certain action to get away from him. There were also other choices that didn't involve Nemesis. Also depending on where you went first certain events would come up in the way of a cutcsene. This was unique because you could envail new events that you didn't see on your first playthrough. The Remake is very linear in this regard. You aren't given any choices, & most of the time besides the beginning City area you don't have to backtrack for anything. They could have made it so the areas you go to you have to make a choice on where to go & you can't go everywhere on your first playthrough, because the point is to escape the city but you have these obstacles in the way as well as Nemesis.

My last negative is how Nemesis was handled in this Remake. I was hoping for Nemesis to really be a prowler most of this game but he wasn't. Also there's a new character in this game that they introduce & they just kill him off right away. Also the civilians that were shown in the beginning are pointless in this. Later you get the train running but Nemesis kills the civilians & before that point you don't meet or interact with any of them. You don't find any of them in the city so it was a missed opportunity to add more stakes to the story. Also Jill not going to the Police Station is just stupid.

I have more cons but I'm already into the review to long now.
My verdict for RE3 Remake is it's ok but pales in comparison to the original besides some better updates in the gameplay, mainly being the dodge function.

With the success of RE 2 remake, I was hoping this remake of RE 3 would be a lot harder with more puzzles, more area to explore of Raccoon City, and bring back the Mercenaries mode, but, like everyone else, I was disappointed. After doing speedruns, this game felt short. Nemesis didn't felt that threatening, like how Mr. X is in RE 2 remake. I hope when they do remake Code Veronica, or The Outbreak files, they can learn what not to do in a remake of a classic Resi title.

Even though it is a very successful game, you will feel a little disappointed. Compared to the remake of the second game, this one often loses its pace and it is impossible to get rid of the impression that there could and should have been more to this game. [Issue#303]

All we can say is that six hours of Resident Evil 3 is just enough - and we're aware that's both compliment and curse. [Issue#346, p.88]

After a stellar remake of an arguably the best Resident Evil game ever made, Capcom has let down our expectations by giving us a more scripted, more linear survival horror action game that will probably be forgotten like so many sequels that have gone the path of less resistance when it comes to game design. RE3 make feels more like a DLC than a full-blown game.
