    Persona 5 Royal has fixed almost all my Issues with base Persona 5, like Momentos and Ryuji's 7th confidant ability which was more of a Nuisance, than useful. Tweaked Palaces also made it a tiny bit better except a specific Man riding on a Jet-chair. The Thieves Den was just awesome, like that one Polished Card game "Tycoon" was addictive as **** A Great game for Quarantine.

    This is possibly my favorite game of all time. I finished this game in 120 hours and I was not bored for a second of it. All of the characters are at the very least likeable, and most are really interesting and have great personalities. The gameplay is always fun, and most importantly YOU DON'T NEED TO GRIND IN ORDER TO BEAT THE GAME THANK GOD! I grinded for an hour in the first dungeonThis is possibly my favorite game of all time.     i must say because of the original persona 5 i became a fan of the series i love it, man it was fantastic but than Royal comes out and WOW extra content was mind blowing if you never played persona 5 royal or any in the series start now lol , i recently played part 4 golden love just as much also next was 3 but The Last of us 2 held me up time for my next review ;)

Everything down to the soundtrack, art style and gameplay is perfect. I am a huge fan of narrative driven games and I’m a sucker for great righting and boy does this game deliver on both. Weeks after finished it I am still thinking about thePersona 5 Royal is easily the best game I’ve ever played. I still have many games to play, but this game has succeeded everything else I’ve played. Everything down to the soundtrack, art style and gameplay is perfect.     This game makes a lot of changes from the original game and improves from the gameplay and story standpoint significantly. They added 2 new characters to the game, admittedly one is significantly better than the other, but I won't say who. Although the game adds a bunch of gameplay content such as grappling hook, showtime attacks, thieve's den and a more advanced mementos. The plot is exactly the same, with the addition of an addition of a brand new arc, party member, villain and palace. The new arc is the biggest selling point of persona 5 royal and it is absoloutly brilliant. The new arc tests your morals and ends the game off in a satisfying conclusion that the original game lacked in my opinion. I generally didn't love how the game ended for the vanilla persona 5, the final arc felt like a stretch to me. However, Royal's new arc completely exceeded my expectation. You shouldn't go into persona 5 royal expecting a brand new experience if you played the original game, but you should instead go in this expecting the same game but better. Also, if you were dissapointed by persona 4 GOLDEN's additional "story arc", because I sure was, you need to know that royal's additional arc is nothing like golden's and this one is much longer and much more fleshed out. I love persona 5 Royal and you should definetly check this game out where you played the vanilla or not. Persona 5 Royal stands strong as my TOP favorite video game of all time, and that is saying a lot.… Expand

    Worth every penny, finish persona 5 at 2018, and i had no problems playing it all over again on the hardest difficulty, and there is like a 30% more content on top of that ?! And its all great additions, if I could rate it higher that a 10 trust me i would.

I was looking for a long game since I was very bored at the end of summer, yet I didn't have any game to play, so I decided to check Metacritic to see which games are rated the highest and so I found out about Persona 5 Royal. I don't regret doing that since the additions in Royal are the best part of the game in my opinion. It's true that those changes are not as substantial as some would have hoped but for a first playthrough, they're necessary to greatly enhance the experience. I'm not saying that you can't enjoy the regular game, quite the opposite, everything about this game is simply fantastic but the characters and the dungeon added in Royal are the best this game has to offer. In my opinion, you should purchase Royal instead of the regular version; also, don't worry about any DLC, they're just cosmetics and completely unnecessary to the game, I even played the entire game without using them because I prefered the regular skins. I know that not everyone is willing to pay a full-priced game blindly like I did but trust me, with a very high chance you'll love this game just as I did.… Expand

The way in which Persona 5 Royal manages to develop all the characters very well, in a long and immersive story, without being boring for the player is excellent. Even at the end, when it shows all the results of Maruki’s research on cognitive psience, and what his goals were and why to do that, it’s just wonderful how the creators took elements applied from the beginning and used them in a plot twist at the end of game. Certainly one of the best JRPG and gaming experiences I have ever had.… Expand

    I love everything about this game , it's really a masterpiece and it really helped me going through a really difficult time in my life , i love the phantom thieves so much specially Makoto , oh and the fact that you can't hang out with Makoto until you have a level 3 knowledge is soooo hilarious

    I’m writing this review because of the 60 dollar price tag reviews. I don’t think a game should ever be judged on its price tag or company’s terrible choice etc. The actual game is how a game should be judged. This is a great game and I’d buy the game again to experience the new Royal part for the first time again.

    Beautiful game, really sets the themes of forgiveness, compassion, and the potential of us as humans to grow from pain. Really fun JRPG, testing your ability to work on your builds and strategize to use them in battles; you also get an incredibly soundtrack to accompany those adrenaline-inducing encounters. The RPG element combined with the story and the setting had me hooked for a solid +100 hrs.

    The combat is stylish and addictive, the numerous amount of personas and attacks fuel the search for stronger abilities. the baton pass system and the showtime attacks really keeps you hooked and is very addictive. Find a weakness on a touch enemy, utilising a three person baton pass and then executing a showtime attack is one of y favourite gaming moments of all time.

    The social simulator aspect of the game is great and is well integrated to the combat and story as building relationships with confidants strengthen personas and improving your skills also provide benefits in the palaces and the real world.

    The visual style and music is my favourite from any videogame ever. The game oozes cool i its character design, enemy designs, menus and its palace designs. The soundtrack is stellar with amazing hyper tracks like Life will Change to gentle ambient tracks such as Beneath the mask.    … Expand

The further you get in the game the more features, character development, music etc. I really care for the characters and I felt genuine disgust when I saw the hidden desires of some of the characters.     The best turn-based RPG, the story may not be as engaging as Persona 3 or 4 but it makes you want to continue, you don't want to leave your group of companions. Fighting, exploration and history, visual art, music all of this is incredible. I have never felt so happy playing a game like this, a sensation that I will carry throughout my life

    I can safely say this is my favourite game since the Witcher 3, and quite possibly my favourite game ever.

    Beautiful soundtrack that will stay with me forever, wonderful characters, and resonant, important messages delivered through the story.

    I loved the orginal Persona 5 game. But this game has deepened my love for it even more. It was well worth the time that I put in this game, even after i put over a hundred hours in the last installment. This game is a must have for sure!!

    I never played any personas before and the genre did not catch my attention, but in a discount offer in PSN, I was able to buy it and look into it. This game is absolutely amazing and I got addicted fast. I already have 124 hours of playing and can say this: If you have patience of seeing many dialogs, history and enjoyed the good old pokemon times, then this game is for you.

I already have 124 hours of playing and can say this: If you have patience of seeing many dialogs, history and enjoyed the good old pokemon times, then this game is for you.

    I am writing this as the credits role for P5R, and I am speechless. I know so many people have said this already, but this game is phenomenal. Coming into this game, I had never previously played a JRPG, or a turn-based RPG. I was hesitant to even play this game at first because of this, but I am so unbelievably glad I did.     Persona 5 Royal was my most anticipated videogame for some time, so I decided to preorder the Ultimate Edition... was it worth?
    The story remains mostly the same, but it's been expanded with 2 additional characters, a new Palace and a third semester, which is undoubtedly the best story arc in the entire game!
    The gameplay is improved in almost every way! There are new mechanics like the    Persona 5 Royal was my most anticipated videogame for some time, so I decided to preorder the Ultimate Edition... was it worth?
    The story remains mostly the same, but it's been expanded with 2 additional characters, a new Palace and a third semester, which is undoubtedly the best story arc in the entire game!
    The gameplay is improved in almost every way! There are new mechanics like the grappling hook and the showtimes but there are also minor improvements over the baton pass and the guns, which made the combat system even more fun.
    Same with the characters; In Persona 5 Royal, not only there are 2 additional major characters, but there's also a proper confidant and more screentime for a vital character as well.
    The Palaces have received some changes; there are new areas to explore, new items to collect and some frustrating parts have been removed.
    The music is absolutely phenomenal; Shoji Meguro strikes again with a unique "Royal" touch this time!
    Lastly, there's new music and additions for Mementos, interesting changes to the boss battles, more free time & content, a ton of other QoL improvements and faster loading times.
    Unfortunately though, all these changes made the game much easier; even on harder difficulties, the game is still quite easy.
    Other than that... what more could I ask for?

    Pros:

    + Refined gameplay
    + Additional characters
    + Major improvements
    + Minor tweaks
    + More content

    Cons:

    Best game I've ever played. Best plot I've ever seen. Best music in any work of culture I've ever heard. This game and Persona 3 are the only cultural works that make me cry in my entire life. I encourage my friends to play this game because I know that they won't regret that. This game is a masterpiece.

    This is so good, from the gameplay to the story, it's very different from any other games out there, even other japanese ones. Persona series is my favorite right now, played them for at least 500 hours.

    Easily my favorite game. Negative reviews aren't warranted because they are comparing just differences to the original persona 5, and for $80 those changes probably aren't worth it to most people, but absolutely was worth it for me. The added story is 10/10, with huge quality of life changes.

    This is my favorite game of all time and i'm pretty sure i won't change that opinion fore the rest of my life. I loved Persona5 and it was the game to introduce me to the persona series but with Persona 5 Royal they fix what was bad about Persona 5 and added a new secret ending with a new place that made the game even better.

    Can never praise this game enough. It was an long journey and i enjoined every second. The game has the best RPG type of combat ever made. The design and aesthetic of the game was nutty. Persona 5 made me care for every single character in the game. Everything about this game is excellent.

    This game has an amazing plot, likeable characters with developed personalities, and a memorable art style. The ending will stick with you for a very long time. I cannot give a 9.9 so a 10 shall suffice.

    I used to not be a big fan of JRPG's because I thought that they were pretty grindy and the story felt very similar throughout a lot of them. Persona 5 Royal changed that for me. I'll admit it took me a few hours to get into the story, but after that, I was completely hooked. The story is very interesting, and the characters are extremely likable. Even the ones that a lot of people dislikeI used to not be a big fan of JRPG's because I thought that they were pretty grindy and the story felt very similar throughout a lot of them. Persona 5 Royal changed that for me. I'll admit it took me a few hours to get into the story, but after that, I was completely hooked. The story is very interesting, and the characters are extremely likable. Even the ones that a lot of people dislike I think have a lot of interesting things about them. The music is persona, so I shouldn't have to say too much. Bottom line, it's incredible and the soundtrack is worth the price of admission alone. The gameplay was the main thing that surprised me. I played on normal mode, and I had a fun, but very fair challenge that kept me invested throughout the whole time. The visual style also has this "pop" to it that I absolutely adore. You kind of need to see it to understand, but it is super cool to look at. The most impressive thing to me is all I did was fight the enemies I saw for the first time, and did barely any grinding, which I appreciate very much. I honestly don't think that this game is flawless, but a 10/10 score for me isn't about being flawless. It's about having positives that far outweigh the negatives of something to the point where I am able to look past it because of how amazing the rest of the game is. That is what Persona 5 Royal is to me. It is quite possibly my favorite game of all time, and I can't recommend it to you enough. If you're a fan of JRPG's, this is a must-play. If you aren't a fan of JRPG's, I still recommend you give this game a shot because I used to be like you, but after playing this game, my opinion is completely different.     Persona 5 Royal despite being a long 200+ hour journey, provides an amazing unforgettable experience. The amazing soundtrack combined with the beautiful art style creates an unforgettable atmosphere unique to the Persona 5 game series, breathing new life into the traditional turn-based JRPG.
    The story has its dull tedious moments early on that left me taking breaks from the game for months on end, there are certain parts of the game that feel like the player must force themselves to get through. However despite this, after reaching the end of the third palace, I found myself loving each and every one of the characters and becoming actually engaged with the story. Toward the end of the game, I had become so invested in the story and so attached to the characters that from the final boss-fight to the end credits I was constantly in tears. Every single character, especially the two main antagonists received major character development throughout the story and allowed the player to feel empathy for their situations despite their goals to stand against your party and everything you've fought for.
    The gameplay felt as if they had drastically updated the old turn-based JRPG combat that games such as Dragon Quest and Pokemon have started to wear out. Many new simple mechanics make combat less of a chore in between story moments and more like proper full-fledged gameplay.
    The difficulty is a major issue with this game, having played on hard difficulty (merciless makes the game way too easy for a harder difficulty) I found this game incredibly easy. I feel as if this game deserves a harder difficulty for those used to the combat system from previous games or those returning for a second playthrough. Though despite that, the main focus of the game comes from storytelling elements as opposed to challenging combat.
    Overall this game is an amazing experience that quickly shot itself to become my favorite game of all time, its only drawbacks come from its length and difficulty. To any fans of visual novels or other story-heavy games, I believe this is a must-play provided you have the 200 hours to spare.    … Expand

    The graphics are good enough, controls are sweet, given it's round based battle anyway and you have some strategizing to do while playing without asking too much of players. The gameplayloop is invigorating to addictive and you have tons of options or rather reasons to replay it with a different approach although on your first round the bosses might give you more trouble then they worth it but there is always New Game + and it is so satisfying to steamroll anything that gave you trouble before int consequent playthroughs.

    Really, I can't get enough of the Phantom Thieves and would love to follow them to college in another game before moving on to Persona 6. Though I know this won't happen. A short mentioning of Strikers, I won't fully review it here and it was sad, it play in the P5 universe instead of the P5 Royal universe and while it was nice to travel with the Phantom thieves in that one, it was much more of a hassle and not so encouraging to replay.

    Ultimately I just say, if you like J-RPGs or are just curious since you heard so much of it, go for it NOW, even if your not too inclined to this kind of games it's still worth to look at. I would say it's a must have and must play for anyone that appreciates J-RPGs.    … Expand

    Probably the best JRPG ive ever played. I missed the Royal ending the first time as I didn't realize it had requirements to reach outside the main story..... So I played twice, back to back, 180 hours total play not counting P5. Phantom Thieves for the win of my heart.

    Persona 5 Royal allows players to experience the story they already love in a new way without losing any of the beauty from the original game. New and old characters get their chance to shine through and steal your heart, even the ones you never expected to. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and maybe you’ll even feel a sense of justice for the infamous Phantom Thieves in the end. But one thing you won’t feel is regret in picking up Persona 5 Royal, as it’s truly the best Persona title, if not one of the best video games, I’ve ever experienced to date.

    All of the new additions and content mean that Persona 5 Royal is a clear upgrade to the original. New players should seek this version without hesitation, although vets may find starting the game over from scratch to be too big an ask. Either way, there’s no doubt that Persona 5 Royal sits proudly on the throne of Peak Persona… or at least it will until Atlus decides they can do even more with it.
