    Persona 5 was already the best JRPG of all time but in persona 5 royal they improved the little flaws the game had. The soundtrack is the best ever in a game, the story is amazing and so is the gameplay it is very quick for a turn based combat game which lots of people will probably like. TO get to the 3rd semester and you've already played persona 5 you'd have to replay alot of stuff butPersona 5 was already the best JRPG of all time but in persona 5 royal they improved the little flaws the game had.     I have been a Fan of the series for years now (specifically since Persona 3 FES) . I've played all of them so far - including some of the spin-offs - and I gotta say: Atlus did it again.

    While it feels a bit to easy in some parts I thoroughly enjoyed my re-visit to Tokyo. While the changes are numerous it never felt like they are taking anything away from the original experience yet    I have been a Fan of the series for years now (specifically since Persona 3 FES) . I've played all of them so far - including some of the spin-offs - and I gotta say: Atlus did it again.

    While it feels a bit to easy in some parts I thoroughly enjoyed my re-visit to Tokyo. While the changes are numerous it never felt like they are taking anything away from the original experience yet always adds the something that makes Persona 5 go up to my all time favorite. 100/100. Best JRPG ever.

    --- I got my copy early and finished all the new content. Not going to include any spoilers but I found the extension of the original intelligent and fitting.    … Expand

    اللعبة فعلًا رائعة وفيها اختلافات كثيرة ، قبل ان ابدأ اللعبة توقعت اني سأتجاوز جميع المقاطع القديمة الا انني عندما بدأتها انصدمت من مستواها الرائع والتعديل الجميل على الحوارات وجعلها أمتع بكثير والألحان الرائعة اضافت جانب آخراللعبة فعلًا رائعة وفيها اختلافات كثيرة ، قبل ان ابدأ اللعبة توقعت اني سأتجاوز جميع المقاطع القديمة الا انني عندما بدأتها انصدمت من مستواها الرائع والتعديل الجميل على الحوارات وجعلها أمتع بكثير والألحان الرائعة اضافت جانب آخر

    Original Persona 5 was already a fantastic game, but Persona 5 Royal made a step even further by adding tons of new activities. New characters, fantastic soundtrack, bosses, personas etc. make game even better. More achievements were added and confidant system was improved. More DLC personas were added to the store, and they are fantastic in terms of gameplay.

    I don't know how they managed to do it but they seriously made the game even better than it was prior. This revolutionary RPG is not only amazing in it's own right but releases at the perfect time. This game is perfect to play in quarantine and gives you a good social and combat mix in one glorious package.     Hands down the best game I have ever played. 130+ hours of fun! So many new things added that tighten up the game and make it fresh from the original Persona 5.

    I have played Persona 5 which I very much enjoyed so I was excited to pick this up. There’s tons of new features and even the story and dungeons have many new additions to the point that it feels like playing a new but familiar game. One of the best JRPGs and RPGs of the decade!

    Not only is it the best Persona game yet, it is also the best Persona re-release. As someone who only got to watch game play of the original Persona 5, Royal didn't feel repetitive at all. They managed to weave enough new and good content between the old game for it to feel fun. The battle system is fresh and fun. On many occasions, I have had to do battle after battle in a single PalaceNot only is it the best Persona game yet, it is also the best Persona re-release. As someone who only got to watch game play of the original Persona 5, Royal didn't feel repetitive at all. They managed to weave enough new and good content between the old game for it to feel fun. The battle system is fresh and fun. On many occasions, I have had to do battle after battle in a single Palace entry, but the game never felt annoying. The story is fantastic. It talks about real world issues and gives quite the topics for conversation. There are some points where the game just feels like a copy of the original with no new content, these moments are excusable, as the story is worth visiting again.… Expand

    It really just takes Persona 5 and adds upon/improves a lot of aspects, there are some things that are exactly the same as the original. But seeing how it was already was a very good game and that there are enough improvements that you never go to long without noticing them, makes it a perfect score for me.

    The normal game was already pretty good, then royal came to improve all the mistakes atlus made and the game is now perfect.

    Quite literally the best game of all time, crafted with expertise precision from its vanilla predecessor. The quality of life changes made to this game enhance its formula in every way shape and form. There is no better JRPG than the 5th entry of Persona, and Royal cements its legacy in a defining take on what it means to be a Japanese role playing title.

    Persona 5 2016 is masterpiece by default. Royal sets the bar over the base game to the ultimate JRPG of all time even higher. A staggering experience with so many good things about it, that you only got to fall for it. every little thing the base game could have done better, is put to perfection. Persona 5 Royal is, for me, the game of the generation, Is on my personal top 5 of my life andPersona 5 2016 is masterpiece by default. Royal sets the bar over the base game to the ultimate JRPG of all time even higher.     I am amazed at how Atlus outdid themselves again with persona 5, the story expanded and it is now so much better than the original game which was already pretty good

If you are a fan of Atlus games and especially the Persona franchise, you won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t played any Persona games, haven’t played the original Persona 5, or just want a game you can spend so much time on and reallyAn improvement on an already amazing original. If you were hesitant on buying it thinking it wasn’t work a “few” new additions, it’s much more then that. I myself was worried the improvements wouldn't be as great as they were made out to be. They absolutely were. I'd say about 1/3 of the new stuff is littered throughout the game. There's a lot here, and I'm not even that far. Between making it more fun to progress throughEverything from the base game is either here, or improved upon. I know you've probably heard that a lot, but seriously. I myself was worried the improvements wouldn't be as great as they were made out to be. They absolutely were. I'd say about 1/3 of the new stuff is littered throughout the game. There's a lot here, and I'm not even that far. Between making it more fun to progress through any given palace, but also easier to do with a lot of options for SP replenishment upfront. Not to mention the fact that you can do whatever you want in Yongen-Jaya at night, regardless of whether or not you entered the metaverse. The Thieves Den is very interesting, and I find myself visiting it just to play the card game called "Tycoon". Everything about it so far is definitely worth the price of buying it again full price.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll try my best to avoid SPOILERS, but you may eventually understand something about the ending, so I higly recommend you to read this after completing the game.

    Persona 5 "Vanilla", or Persona 5, was already a masterpiece with some problems here and there, but overall one of the most funny and thrilling experience I had playing with Playstation 4.
    Persona 5 Royal comes in with various improvements:
    -Ammos recharging after a battle, easier social stat levelling, you can buy more gifts for confidants, phone call during the day and even more.
    -New true-ending, with a new Palace and a new Memento Area.
    -New OSTs.
    Graphics in combat are even more awesome than the original P5 (and I couldn't even imagine something like this), Kasumi and Akechi confidant are just great, especially the girl with her tragic background. I do love Akechi's personality too.
    And I don't even know how to start a topic about the true ending.
    "I Believe" is JUST F*KING AWESOME, the finale was thrilling and I was literally speecheless after the final battle. What a finale.
    You-know-who has such a cool background, he was so different compared to the others. And his palace is amazing, with its magical atmosphere and thanks to "Gentle Madman" playing in background.
    I am really happy and thankful to Atlus for making this game.
    Now it's time for NG+, I already know that there are 2-3 cool things to do here :)    … Expand

    200/100 they really improve a perfect game. Best JRPG ever. The new history and characters are a perfect inclusion for the history, if you couldn´t play the last game, give you the pleasure of play this masterpiece, you will spend hours like a child in christmas

    If you have never played an JRPG and you want a game with amazing gameplay, an beautiful story, characters that feel real, and the best music you will every hear, than buy this ASAP. If you are a fan of anime than think of this as an anime you get to take part in.     Everything added in this game was amazing. Negitive reviews are people who haven't played the game fully and people who thought royal was a new game. It's not! Its persona 5 but defined with new content and changes that keep the game fresh and improve it. It's not only the best jrpg of all time it's now one of the best games ever made

    I started playing the game at the time it was released, E IT'S SO STYLISH, I am currently playing for 15 hours and at the Madarame Palace, the new characters have already appeared and have had small changes in old scenes, this game is a work of art, a masterpiece.

With the variety of activities within the one game, the story is an absolute progression-based treat. If you have any interest in Japan, JRPGs or anime/manga this will not disappoint you either.     Esse jogo é lindo !, A trilha sonora é incrível como sempre assim como as novas adições só complementam oque já era perfeito, novas adições aos palácios, desafios na Velvet Room, o jogo está lindo e merece ser game do ano, espero que a atlus lance para o resto do mundo o persona 5 scramble , gostaria muito de jogar , enfim nota 10000, amo persona !

    Great evolution of an already incredible game.The add of new theme songs and the upscale of the fighting mechanism with the introduction of new assets and characters to develop bonds with makes Persona 5 The Royal a must have.

It really fix some small flaws in Persona 5, such as improving the battle experience in Palace and adding some new game play section in Boss battle, which turn Persona 5 Royal into a nearly perfect JPRG for the players who did not experience all content of Persona 5.

    However, for the "old" players, people who have experienced the whole content of Persona 5, there comes with some small problems. Some changes to the stories may bother the old players, and plentiful 3rd semester seems to be not "plentiful" that much.

    After all, if you are a freshman to Persona 5 Royal, you will have a wonderful experience. For the players who have experienced the OG Persona 5, maybe you have forget some parts of the story. So, it is time to back in Tokyo and have another exciting adventure.    … Expand

    I’ve been a fan of the persona series since Persona 3, and I must say, Persona 5 Royal is a ground breaking title I finished the game around 2 days ago and I’m already replaying it, I had 600 hours in the original alone, although I must say the trophies were a tad too easy. In the first game you felt rewarded after getting the Platinum, but in Royal you basically get the platinum if you’reI’ve been a fan of the persona series since Persona 3, and I must say, Persona 5 Royal is a ground breaking title I finished the game around 2 days ago and I’m already replaying it, I had 600 hours in the original alone, although I must say the trophies were a tad too easy.     Expands an already 10/10 game and smoothes the overall experience. The gameplay got a few changes that spice it up. The Palaces (Dungeons) got changed to a bit to make them more interesting and a few characters were added. If you never played Persona 5 before, definitely check it out!

    If you're looking for a good excuse to play persona 5 again this is it. If you can believe it they've actually taken the original and improved it. Excellent rpg in a day and age in which they are hard to find. A true masterpiece. If you are an rpg fan like I am you wont be disappointed

The best game i have ever played, royal fixes all the narrative issues present on Vanilla Persona 5 and introduces 3 "new" characters (since akechi isn't new but he's really different from vanilla), Goro Akechi and Takuto Maruki, Akechi has a lot more depth and personality in Royal and in fact, holds quite a big importance on the major plot, on the other hand Takuto Maruki is pretty much the best character in the game and the best villain on the series BY FAR, you just can't hate him or help yourself but feel disgusted to fight him.
    Sumire/Kasumi **** was a stunning character, her sweetness and inocence upon trying to be kasumi is really what breaks your heart at the Maruki Arc. And even when she "returns" being Sumire it only makes you want to know her more. Overall Persona 5 Royal is the definition of improving something almost perfect and giving it a new depth and making the characters steal each piece of your heart one by one and to be quite honest, i dont really want it back.    … Expand

    I adored Persona 5. It's my only platinum trophy for PS4, and I spent 300 hours and five playthroughs to reach that point. Persona 5 Royal is being marketed as a sort of 'definitive edition', so that's the viewpoint I'll be taking for the purposes of reviewing this, as well as it being an excuse to readily point out that I simply can't review this from a newcomer's perspective due to my longstanding fondness for the Persona series.

    The unique feature of current Persona games is its emphasis on interacting with other characters, so let's start there. In terms of improvements, there are a few small details: you can invite people to a couple of new (but ultimately fairly trivial) date spots, a couple of scenes have been very slightly rewritten for either pacing or tonal purposes, and you now sometimes get post-meetup phone calls from the friends with whom you've just been spending time. That may sound unimportant, but it provides an opportunity to boost your friendships more easily, and that's appreciated here.

    The reason for that is because you get more time to discover the entirely new friendships: the two main new characters, Kasumi **** and Takuto Maruki. Both shed new light on Persona 5's slightly one-sided moral debate, and given that progressing these social links is imperative for unlocking the new content in semester three, it's reassuring that their interactions with you as the protagonist make you really warm to them.

    The same can also be said of the third important factor for the new content, Goro Akechi. His social link is completely rewritten now, and if you progress his story far enough by the time the game catches up to the opening, he becomes an essential part of Persona 5 Royal's unique experience. The developers have clearly paid more attention to Akechi because of the fan sentiment towards him from the original, and whether you liked him or loathed him, his new material means you'll be glad to see a whole lot more of him here.

    As well as new characters, there are new areas. The main one that I can touch on without getting into spoiler-territory is Kichijoji, which is unlocked pleasingly early and provides a lot of things to do (Morgana is less insistent on getting your required bed-rest this time around, so you have more time to discover these things). It perhaps feels as though you're a little rail-roaded into getting the most out of Kichijoji due to the benefits of its establishments in Palace exploration, but those benefits are entertaining enough to make me not too concerned about that.

    And while Kichijoji's jazz club has me thinking about music: the new soundtrack is just phenomenal. Although the vast majority of the original soundtrack was excellent, there were a few tracks I wasn't so keen on (looking at you, 'Sweatshop'). The new tracks, however, don't have a single weak spot, and indeed hold some of my favourite songs from the franchise to date.

    Speaking of finding weaknesses, let's also touch on combat. More complaints have been addressed here, speeding up combat tutorials, increasing the viability (and you'll need it) of status ailments, and even improving the fantastic Baton Pass system. There are also a couple of new features within the Shadows you fight to offer more variety, but to be honest, the combat is a case of 'if it ain't broke...'.

    The story, then. It's phenomenal. Though there are a lot of twists and turns, some of which you'll see coming and some of which you won't, they don't feel inserted for the sake of a surprise. Instead, they pull you into a narrative that somehow manages to both escalate and personalise the stakes you're faced with at the end of the base game. It's not just impressive on a technical level, but full of moral quandary and impeccable character development that makes me reluctant to even say that there's a villain for the third semester, only a figure with a convincing moral argument and an extreme stance who is easy to sympathise with and, for me at least, impossible to hate. It's my favourite type of villain: the one who almost isn't.

    So why don't I want to play this again right now? Well, with Persona 5 we rebelled off into the metaphorical sunset and it felt easy to visit my friends at the start of their journeys again. Leaving Persona 5 Royal, the journeys have become longer, more complex, and asked some difficult questions of our heroes. They aren't the same people I encountered 113 hours earlier. They are more three-dimensional, more complete, and more affected, and it's very difficult now to go back to what they once were. In a way, that's how I feel about Persona 5 Royal: more complex, more complete, and impossible to go back from.    … Expand

There were some great improvements since last game as well as extra content and a different ending, if you unlock the new semester that is.     Now the things to warn you about, if you don't like ALOT of cutscenes/text based stuff then its not for you. This game plays out day by day and you interact with different people/things each day. Inbetween palaces you could be doing this for a couple hours. Though there is a dungeon you can do between palaces if you wan't a break from all the talking and just want to get into RPG stuff. This is also a Turn based RPG 100%, there is no real time combat at all. This game is done really well and from a previous persona player i'm stoked they changed it this much but kept the elements of the game and improved it by loads. The old dungeons used to be corridors and boxed rooms. Now its full on creative places that you can explore where each room is different from the last and actually looks like the palace its based on.    … Expand

    100% worth it for the quality of life changes, and the free themes you get for getting every trophy in the game. The way they fleshed out characters from the original even more and the way the new characters integrate into the story is so well done. And also it comes with gosh dang Daifugo (Tycoon in the game) which is always a fun time

    Once again I put over 100 hours in to the best RPG of all time! The difference between Royal and the Persona 5 is a new palace, confidants and team member! This game is so addicting and I sat through an entire week playing and used a week of vacation because it means that much to me! Should be game of the year but it depends on if it qualifies!     Un juego increiblemente bueno, sentí ya un poco inecesaria lo de Maruki pero de todas formas la sentí muy fresca he interesante. Los personajes son unos de los cuales uno se enamora totalmente al instante (bueno en lo personal no soy tan fan de Yusuke pero igual no creo que es un mal personaje).

    Persona 5 Royal allows players to experience the story they already love in a new way without losing any of the beauty from the original game. New and old characters get their chance to shine through and steal your heart, even the ones you never expected to. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and maybe you’ll even feel a sense of justice for the infamous Phantom Thieves in the end. But one thing you won’t feel is regret in picking up Persona 5 Royal, as it’s truly the best Persona title, if not one of the best video games, I’ve ever experienced to date.

    All of the new additions and content mean that Persona 5 Royal is a clear upgrade to the original. New players should seek this version without hesitation, although vets may find starting the game over from scratch to be too big an ask. Either way, there’s no doubt that Persona 5 Royal sits proudly on the throne of Peak Persona… or at least it will until Atlus decides they can do even more with it.
