Anyway even though it is fun the lack of modes and pointless progression and rewards makes me feel like I should have waited for a sale.

If you're looking for a game that will make you spend hours of fun in front your TV, Overwatch is one of the best choices, fps, amazing heroes, large maps, ranked games, many types of modes, but, you always will play online, because it hasn't a story mode, that's a mistake of Blizzard, However the game is amazing !

This year for Christmas, all I wanted was a new Ps4. I was very confident that I would be getting one, so I looked into some possible games that I would like. It didn’t take me very long to find Blizzard's new console creation, called Overwatch. It was recommended on many websites that I looked on, (Amazon, Gamestop, and blockbuster) I was very interested in the game from the start. I watched many trailers and game play videos, to make sure this was the game I wanted. I loved it, I couldn't wait to start playing it. I showed my parents, and they thought it also was a cool game except for how pricey it could get. You are required to buy Ps plus / or Xbox Live which gets pretty pricey, and the game itself which costs forty dollars.

Christmas morning I found out that I was correct, I got the Ps4 and Overwatch. I hurried down and set it all up and shortly was able to play. The game immediately introduces itself with the characters explaining why you were chosen to become apart of their elite force of heroes. You are then sent to a screen that has many game modes including season three, quick play, arcade, custom, and player versus AI.
Quick play is my only a shorter game that you play against people who are your level. In arcade mode there are many different types of game modes including three Versus three, the event mode, no limits, brawl list, and Mystery hero. The most recent event mode was, capture the flag. No limits is where there is no limitations on the hero's your team chooses. Brawlist is a playlist of different events. like everyone has to be one hero, or everyone has to be a Certain type of hero.

When you choose one of these game modes you enter a skirmish while you wait for your main match to load. In this skirmish you can try out new characters and the map. I really love this feature because instead of having to watch the loading sign as you wait for a match you can play with other people that are also waiting for a match. Once your match has been found they pull you out of the skirmish and bring you into your match. Your then put in a kiosk where you choose your hero. After everyone selects their hero you enter the map. The teams wait in different ends of the map, until everyone is let go at once and you fight. At anytime when you die, you can change your hero to change the course of the match. After the match ends you watch the play of the game, and you get exp. you use the exp from the match to level up.

In the end my point is that this a very good choice if you are choosing a new game to play. The animation is much better than any other game I have played. I truly believe that this game has great potential for the future, I don’t see this game getting old. It always has new ways to bring back there players. New events come out often, keeping the game up to date. Overwatch has also received many awards such as game of the year, Best Studio/Game Direction, best multiplayer of 2016, and many more. I rate this game 4.5 stars.

Developed by Blizzard, Overwatch is fun game with simple controls that are easy to learn. The game is a little pricey being at sixty dollars but it’s worth it. Overwatch is a game for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Overwatch can keep you entertained with all the game modes including: Quick play, 3v3, Competitive, Brawls, Custom and even more. Overwatch is a very fast paced game, so you have stay alert. Even though the game is fast it is still fun to play.

The game is set sixty years into the future so all the weapons and maps are very futuristic and are very developed. Overwatch is a game that has amazing graphics in the maps and also the weapons. In Overwatch you can customize the characters by getting different skins to put on them. You can get skins from loot boxes or with credits that can come in loot boxes. Some of the characters include: Tracer, Genji, Hanzo, Mcree, Soldier 76 and tons more. Overwatch is only online online, that means it can go both ways, good and bad. It is good because you can play with people and friends that are not with you, but it’s bad because you can’t play locally and you have to be able to play online or you can’t play at all. Something I would recommend is playing with friends. You don’t have to but if you do you get 20% more XP.

All in all Overwatch is a very fun game to play. Overwatch is rated teen but I think it could be for kids littler than that if their parents let them. Once you start playing you can’t stop. It hooks you in. Like I said Overwatch will keep you entertained for days. I think this is one of the best games of the year. If you have any questions about Overwatch I will try my best to answer them.

Each hero falls into a category which include Offense, Defense, Tank and Support, and each one plays a very different role on many of the maps in Overwatch. Also it depends if you're defending the object or attacking the objective and trying to push the payload, with this you must pick a hero that fit the necessities to complete your tasks while also doing your duties like healing fellow teammates or soaking up massive amounts of damage with your shield while your team pushes or defends. From Gamestop the game costs $60 dollars new and remember each console plays different whether you are playing it on a Computer or XBOX or Playstation each controls, graphics, and sound quality will be different. The controls are easy to grasp on most platforms but not too sure on PC because I play this game on the PS4, but other than that they also give you the option to change controls if you are used to another control on another console which is great at times.

But keep in mind the rating of the game is Teen because of blood and violence, but excluding this, the game is really fun and I enjoy playing new characters in competitive matches with other people. I wouldn’t recommend it to people under the age of 8 or 9 because younger people may have a hard time grasping the harder play style of the game or understanding the objectives or controls.

I really like this game because of it’s diverse feelings and that you can play with other people including your friends and another thing I really enjoy is the loot boxes and the skins because they are really cool and detailed and the loot boxes are like prize for leveling up in game. One thing I don't enjoy is the players that are rude while you play, making the game less enjoyable. I would rate this game 5/5 stas because it’s really fun and engaging for a first person shooter

The will come a time when I will no longer find enjoyment in this game. Another issue is that the constant character balance updates do irate when you get used to particular character. The unecessary compulsion of consolke prauyes to buy the origin edition is also a needlessly greedy tactic. And overall I feel this game is worth $40, its price of PC. And unlike other games that you grow tired of playing and can eventually return to, there comes a point with this game where you will put it down and never pick it up again. That at least is what happened to me. After playing this game for a while, you'll begin to feel that there's nothing really left to discover. It is a perfectly complete circle and I often times felt myself going mad going around and around the circle. This problem is slightly amended by the addition of free DLC, but even the DLC still fails to really offer anything that doesn't become subsumed into the restrictions of the game.

I can't find something interesting for myself in this game. All fine, except the price. 60$ for Dota it's too much, it's highly overpriced and extremely empty inside for this value. 15-20$ and I can keep calm trying to find it interesting, but not 60$. You can buy a lot of games for 60$, and you will feel that this money invested in a content, in a game design, in a graphics, in entertainment innovations. But not for dota with World of Warcraft textures.
I will not recommend this game anyone, who are not crazy about MOBA and who are not a rich guy :)

This game started out great, then it became dull,
It's not for everyone, and it can sometimes cause huge anger and frustration because of the matchmaking system.
I don't regret buying it as it was great when it first came out, but I probably won't play it much anymore, I'd like to check out better games than wasting my time playing more Overwatch.

Cons: Massive flaws in the conversion to a controller operating system. (some have been fixed since launch such as the new communication stick, ability to bind keys, change sensitivity etc) . This game has probably the worst aiming of any multiplayer shooter I've played on console. To counter this it also has huge character models, and very strong auto aim. (in my opinion this takes a lot of skill out of the game, combined with the average hit detection and lag assist can make the experience very frustrating.

This is my first time leaving a review, I decided to do so because I thought it was a bit silly that this game had a 6.1 user average. As someone who had gotten bored of most video games for years, Overwatch finally brought me back and I've logged close to 300 hours over the past half year.

The important thing to note: This is a PvP game. There is no campaign or anything of that sort.

The important thing to note: This is a PvP game. There is no campaign or anything of that sort. If you're not into online competitive games, you likely won't get as much out of this game as others. That said:

I was introduced to Overwatch by a friend who described it as TF2, but better, and while I was skeptical they were completely right. With four classes and 23 heroes (and more to come), each with their own unique aesthetic, abilities, and gameplay that all stand out, there is quite a bit of depth in that regard. Whether you want to be a massive hammer swinging german tank that protects their teammates, a roller blading aura caster that can ride on walls, a sharpshooting cowboy, or an adorable climate scientist that freezes your opponents, this game has a plethora of roles to fill. All of the maps are beautiful, memorable, and generally well designed. The catch being there are only 4 (technically 5) regular game modes (Capture Point, King of the Hill, Payload, 1v1/3v3 Elimination, and Capture Point / Payload hybrids), with each map having a specific game mode. Although, there have also been limited time holiday modes and brawls (such as Lucioball and Dr. Junkensteins Revenge) with more to come in the future. The upside to this is that Blizzard is extremely attentive to the community, regularly updates / tunes heroes to be more balanced or in line with their vision, and has stated they are actively seeking out new modes to implement. Since launch they have already added two new heroes, two maps (one with a new game mode), three holiday events, and another map just around the corner (all for free).

One of the aspects I love most about this game is that teamwork is paramount, easily trumping individual skill. I had long been tired of games like Halo and Call of Duty where it is largely a chaotic fest of people running and gunning without a care to what their teammates are up to. With the hero designs, ultimate abilities, and structure of maps, it is far more important to focus on coordinating pushes and defenses with your teammates than having Godlike aim. If you try to run around as a lone wolf, you will get shut down by those who have learned to stick together and synergize.

Overall it is an amazing game if you like team oriented and competitive multiplayer, even if you haven't traditionally been a fan of shooters (with the diverse character designs, you may not find even yourself using a gun all that much). If online multiplayer isn't your thing however, you may find the $60 or $40 price tag hard to justify.

Overwatch is that special kind of game that suits many different sub genre of gamer and as many different skill levels to boot. From your FPS loving hardcore "Pr0" to your casual "i'll play a little after work" kinda guy.
Combining the fast paced action of an FPS with moba-like un-lockables including skins, sprays and voice lines, there's a LOT to enjoy about Overwatch and very few things to fault it on.

    So let's talk gameplay.
Overwatch as of writing this review has several game modes including Quick Match (6vs6, for your quick casual games), competitive (for your more stressful but more rewarding gaming needs), custom game, training and Arcade, which itself houses several OTHER game modes!. Since the game's original launch 2 new Hero's, multiple hero changes and the previously mentioned competitive mode and arcade mode were added, and there's plenty more to come as Overwatch continues to grow.

Most Matches are played against teams of 6 players each side, where each player chooses from a roster of 23 (current number) hero's to do battle against each other. Each hero has their own unique play style, abilities and role so it's very important to choose which hero you think is best for your team, and dealing with the enemy. The great thing about Overwatch is that you can switch out your hero mid game! meaning there's endless possibilities and no match is ever the same.

Let's talk a lil bit about competitive and the community though shall we?
I've played competitive since it launched and am currently Diamond on the PS4 (rankings are Bronze - Silver - Gold - Platinum - Diamond - Master - Grand Master - top 500) however I've played with players as low down as silver and as high up as top 500, and so I can say without a doubt that the higher you advance in rank, the more toxic the community becomes.

Outside of the game, the Overwatch community can be a bit over-hyped with fan content, cosplay and the like but are generally a friendly bunch, but when it comes to a player around platinum rank or above possibly loosing a bit of their ranked rating? you're gonna know about it!

All in all I couldn't recommend Overwatch anymore than I already do, but please be warned that it is a competitive FPS, you are going to get salty toxic players in any and all game modes regardless of rank, and will see much more of that if you decide to go competitive. If the idea of being angrily messaged should you make a slight mistake doesn't dishearten you however, then get out there and win! coz y'know, the world could always use more hero's! (...sorry)

What makes overwatch unique is that it consists of 21 unique characters who all have different weapons and special abilities. Overwatch basically takes every cool element in video games (teleportation, grappling hooks, wall running, etc) and puts them in a pot and shares them equally with every unique character; and characters are surprisingly very balanced, you'll wish they just had one different power so they'll be perfect. It's mostly a spamfest of special abilities, and I enjoy it. The only and I say this with an exclamation point..downfall of overwatch is the lack of game modes, a lack of playlist, and even a lack of a deathmatch. There are literally two-three game modes in this game (listed above), and I'm shocked there are no deathmatch.. sometimes I just want to kick back and kill stuff and you know? Shame, this game is an high 8 to me, but could easily be a 9+ if given more game modes and an actual playlist. Buy this game if you like multiplayers that depends on working together as a team, an arcadey shooter that focuses on your special abilities, and if you like the challenge of grinding to master a character to dominate your peers. Avoid this game if you can't stand "futuristic" fps shooters, and are looking for boots on the ground fps (like cod and battlefield). Also a big chance you'll hate this game if you plan on lone wolfing it/not working as a team. If all you do in these games is run and gun, you will die A LOT. Expand

Overwatch is an objective based six on six hero shooter from our pals over at Blizzard. You need to be connected to the internet to play, and the only single player content is in the form of bot matches. Again, if you need a campaign, this is not the game for you. With that out of the way, the multiplayer is sooo good. I'm forty hours in, and I'm still having a blast. There are 22 characters that fit into 4 classes who all feel unique, and only like, 13 maps, but let's not dwell on that. All the game modes are objective based (no team deathmatch or anything similar) so you have to stick with your team instead of wandering off alone. Team composition matters too, though playing six of the same character is admittedly fun.

The game is a bit light on content right now, that's true, but Blizzard has stated that all future heroes, maps, and game modes will be free, so that problem will fix itself later on. Even so, the game might not be worth it to you at full price. If it looks interesting, but you're not super into it, wait on a price drop.

In conclusion, pretty darn good, just not too much to keep the average person busy for hundreds of hours.

Classes are well balanced. Each character has strengths and weaknesses and there's a counter for everything. Its all down to your own skill and knowledge.

Servers are smooth, I've not once experienced any sort of lag or glitches.

Graphics are bright, crisp and detailed. The characters and environments are fun, cartoony and over exaggerated. It kind of reminds me of the awesome TF2. There is no play to win nonsense and according to Blizzard all maps etc in future DLC are free.

Overwatch is a class based ("Hero") shooter a-la Team Fortress 2, colorful graphics, large and varied roster, allegedly a dozen or so maps, all good. The problem is there is basically 1 game mode "go stand by the thing" with an implied "don't let the enemy stand by the thing." The maps are functionally identical and so easy to navigate you get the impression that they have been committee designed so as to meet some sort of balance criteria that makes them all equally boring.

The matchmaking is skittish and will frequently drop you on the "defeat" screen and then kick you from the game. It would appear that a single person leaving the match can be enough for the system to decide it's no longer worth bothering. Equally frustrating is the claim that you'll be playing with people of a similar skill level doesn't seem to pan out, matches are almost always a complete pushover for one team or the other. The best matches are of course when it goes right down to the wire, with the "overtime" mechanic apparently intended to encourage this sort of play, however as I said this seldom happens. Matches can be over in as little as 2 minutes, combine this with the excessive pre-match wait and the twitchy matchmaking and you've got a situation where you can end up spending most of your time twiddling your thumbs.

I'd like to suggest there are also some balance issues, especially if the enemy team is running 2 or more of the same hero, however any complaint will immediately be met by the community with "hero X is a hard counter to Y" lest blizzard ever be exposed to criticism of their game mechanics.

All in all considering how colorful and varied it is the whole experience ends up bland and repetitive and I've got a serious case of buyers remorse over paying full whack for what feels like a F2P game.

All game-modes are objective-based, meaning that you must work as a team to defeat your opposition. Granted there is no campaign, but in a game like this it is not necessary whatsoever, there are animated shorts found online that give various characters there own backstory which add a nice touch to this sort of game. The gameplay is nice and smooth, with a stable frame-rate and feels extremely satisfying, Right now the summary of the game is out the way, I would like to turn to those who complain about this game and find loopholes in their complaints. First of all, yes it's online only, but this type of gameplay has already provided me and my friends with hundreds of hours of entertainment, not every game needs a campaign. Secondly, to the people who say this game should be free, future content for this game is free, granted not loot boxes as they're merely cosmetic choices, but anything to enhance gameplay is completely free of charge, Blizzard have stated this themselves, you're basically paying for all this dlc ahead of time, all of these purchases have been funded towards the future content, and so far, from Ana and Eichenwalde, they have delivered, with plenty more to come. Thirdly, to the people saying this game has only gained popularity through Blizzard's prestige is just straight hating the company and game imo. Honestly? I only played one Blizzard game before Overwatch, and that was World of Warcraft, and I didn't even like that game, hell, when I first heard of Overwatch I honestly brushed it aside and was more interested in Battleborn, oh how the tides have turned, and I can vouch there are more people like me who came along with next to information and have enjoyed this game, especially my friends. Matching is quick but it tends to leave you in the same group of 12 until someone leaves. This sometimes sucks if you get matched against very good/bad players. You will play them over and over unless you leave matching.

Its a twitch shooter-- the quick or the dead. If you have any lag (such as I do in Australia) are slow or bad aim, you will not have a good time of it. The game is fast and confusing at times. No mini-maps. Team-mate indicators are small; healers can see their team through walls but it is still hard. Doesn't work with support like Zarya. Close to no real team play or strategy whatsoever beyond two things: Move as a team when possible and know your role/switch your when necessary.

That said, character skills are varied and fun but certain 'easy' characters are over-used and frustrating. D.Va, Bastion and Reinhartd, to name a few. Also, there is no vibration hit indication on console, (vibrates only when you're attacking, not for when you're being hit) so its very difficult to tell you're getting hit until you hit 25% health. By then its often too late. Prepare to die. A lot.

There is only one melee character. Rest are ranged. Its very KTD orientated and there is close to no retreat -- you have to be pretty lucky to get away and/or have an escape skill ready for bad situations. Some will die and die often whenever 1v1ing anybody as they are pretty slow and have no escape abilities: Ana, Symmetra, Zarya, Torb. I feel this is an over-sight that hinders the enjoyment of these characters greatly, especially since they are relatively weak characters, even Zarya who is technically a 'tank'.

Games are fun yet repetitive. Matches are random-- you cannot chose game type nor map type. That said all game types are pretty similar. Even the maps all feel kinda the same. Also, the game is flawed in that the game mechanic itself gives an advantage to better players. Those with bad aim will not charge their Ults very easily; those that have good aim and good KTD are constantly popping off their Ults left and right. This is all well and fine, except that a well placed Ult can wipe an entire team. Its a one-sided dynamic that means that once a team starts winning, it is ridiculously tough to break them as they will Ult all over your team over and over. Coming back from a wipe is ridiculously hard. On the topic of dying, while respawn time is quick, it does often take about 10+ seconds to get back to the point of contention, and you have no way of knowing if your team status (unless you watch the kills on the right but this is hard to do in battle) so once a team starts picking you off individually it becomes difficult to come back as a team from this.

And while the chars look baller, there's also an inherent blandness to the character designs and personalities. At one point, Lucio says to D.Va: 'Oh wow, you're D.Va, can I get your autograph!' and her reply was a 'Oh, only if I can get yours too! I love your music.' it was such a nothing exchange and it felt ridiculously contrived. The funniest lines are when you kill someone mid-Ult and their line gets interrupted, like 'It's High N--urk" with McCree. That's not even scripted.

I don't feel its a lot of game for the price, and I think it's incredibly over-hyped esp. by official critics. Its good and fun but it has its flaws like any other game, it doesn't really have anything things like TF2 doesn't except looks and polish. Also the loot box system kinda sucks, its expensive and mostly I kept getting stupid sprays which I use in the waiting room and nowhere else.

Honestly? I'll get hate for this, but I tried Battleborn too and while they are totally different, BBs team aspect just gives me more enjoyment and suits my playstyle more. Less twitchy. More team strategy, more forgiving of lag, more objectives, no skill can one-shot, single player mode-- its also super funny. Got killed by this old character today, and his taunt line was 'Oh no, you just got beat up by a geriatric!' lol. I wasn't even mad. Also way more melee characters (at least 7 I think) and better balance. Games feel more satisfying, especially wins. It has a pretty bad learning curve, but so did OW. And can be confusing but I think OW can be just as confusing at times with the 'crap-- what killed me' moments. It's not as 'pretty' or polished as OW but I find it more fun for me. It is like an ugly but tasty dish. I do like and I still play OW, and I am looking forward to new chars, but I am not much of a FPS twitcher, more of a team player, so its not exactly the game to suit me. If you are that person you will love OW more. If not, try BB.

Overwatch or Overrated? This is one of those games that gets a lot of attention because of its pedigree. It shows that this is a game made by Blizzard. Colorful graphics, unique characters, tight art design, oozes style from every crevice. Glance at it and it's an incredibly well put together game. Put it under the microscope and the illusion fades.

The number one issue on console is the aiming mechanic. It's one of the worst of this generation. The max turn speed is too slow to handle the quickness of movement for some of these characters. Couple the insane amount of input lag with timed acceleration and there is no consistency to crosshair movement. It's no surprise than that the more precision a character requires to do well the more worthless they are and the less they are used online. Tanks, grenadiers, and shotgunners dominate.

Outside of gameplay the experience isn't much better. Whether there is no community left or SBMM is too stringent, the game takes too long to find a match, often more than a minute. Often as not it will place you in a match that's nearly over leaving you waiting more than playing. This is further aggrevated by the half a minute team composition time and then the minute long wait before the match begins.

They try to rectify this by, on occasion, putting you in a pre-battle non objective ffa skirmish with the playes that have been matched already while finding the rest. These usually last seconds and you often get kicked back into menu to search for a new lobby. Why they couldn't let you stay in training with bots while the search for players commences is beyond me.

Overwatch is one of those games that you really, really, really, want to be good because it has a lot of great qualities but it falls apart where it matters most. If it ever gets its aiming and matchmaking fixed it will be something special.

This was just plain dumb, when I was defending convoy my whole team had hard time to simply leave the base, we were crushed, two matches later when I was attacking the convoy we just pummeled enemies.
And it's no accident, its not the first blizzard game that suffers ballance issues.

Besides, the graphics are just average, amount of content is nice, but beside the ballance issue game suffers from lack of true goal. When I was on my way to work after playing another 20 or so matches I was wondering why Id waste so much time on something so unrewarding. There is no cool story Youl uncover. No sense of acomplishement after winning a match, because You wonder why You had won - because of Your skill or enemies just had worst champs/unfavorable map goal - and thats the nail in the coffin for Overwatch.

In terms of online multiplayer the game is very similar to Overwatch, but with the difference of game modes PVZ deserves its current score. I would suggest to buy this game for 30$ or less. Expand

I play on both PC and PS4, but I find the PS4 version to be my preferred platform for this title. That's mainly because of how toxic the PC community is.

I'm giving this a 10/10 simply because of how much I love Overwatch. There are minor flaws, and more content is needed, but I have strong faith Blizzard is going to deliver that content as time continues on. I can't wait to see how far Blizzard goes with Overwatch.

Plus, if there is one video game that deserves a full feature length film, it's Overwatch.

The core gameplay can definitely be enjoyable but for me those times where I truly and fun were few and far between. All too often my game would be plagued with leavers or toxic players who wouldn't communicate or attempt to create viable team compositions. I didn't mind these occurrences as much in quick play but many times I would run into players like this during competitive matches making which made those games incredibly annoying to play. All in all the core gameplay is good, the characters are relatively interesting, and the game at times can genuinely be fun but unless you have a consistent group of friends to play with I really wouldn't recommend investing $60 into this game. However after investing several hours in this game I am still taken aback by how empty it truly is. The maps are gorgeous and offer multiple options to players to adapt and develop strategies however the game is limited to a stock few game modes that once dealt with a few times offer little variation. The character roster can not be faulted however beyond mastering the different play styles each, there is little to aim for witch each being unlocked from the start. I can see the draw of a well worked team game with each player playing to a strength and building a balanced team however far too often you are placed in a game lacking coordination and nothing is more frustrating than loosing an objective based game because everyone on your team is gunning for that solo killing streak.

My other bug bear that again personally cuts the game re-playabilty in half is the lack of unloackables or character development. You unlock new character features, poses and sprays through earning 'loot boxes'. These boxes take no stock of your play style, character choices or skill. Equally they do not pop in relation to player achievements, these loot boxes will appear once every time you level up, or if you succumb to the fee-to-play ethos of blizzard and buy yourself some. This for me gives you no real motivation beyond mastering the characters available and certainly no stock that you have. The two specific trophies/achievements that you can earn after painstaking play with your specific character merely unlock different 'sprays' that can be declared onto walls in front of you in-game for absolutely none else to look at...
There just isn't any reason for you to keep going hoping that one of the loot boxes will drop a skin for a character that you maybe play as now and again.

I truly can't grasp the reason behind the hype surround this game. I think the user reviews speak for themselves and wish I'd paid more of attention to them instead of being blinded by the hype surrounding a sub stellar game marketed at a AAA price.

Overwatch is a fun and new shooter, but it is lacking. Its gameplay can get very tiresome and repetitive with only 4 modes, and it is overall lacking substance and content. TF2 did it much better. Overwatch is overpriced on console, and is only barely deserving of a 40$ price tag on console.

For the people saying it lacks content, I would say that quality over quantity is always better and the game is not that short, there are frequent updates and seeing as it's Blizzard, the updates should keep on coming for a while.

So give this game a shot and I'm sure you won't regret it, afterall the World could always use more Heroes!

I think the highlights of this game are the characters. Very well developed, all very interesting. The graphics, gorgeous and pixar-like. The sound effects, crisp noticeable and in all the right places. Lastly, the gamer environment is so less toxic than most, it is an absolute marvel. They did at the very worst an incredible job or producing a game that encourages positivity and teamwork.

However, (of course there's a however) this game in it's current state is not worth 60 dollars IN MY OPINION. There just needs to be more modes and I get it, that will be released later. At the time of purchase however, this game is not complete. Also, this game is not for people who want to play a solo game and just relax. It requires teamwork...REQUIRES...teamwork. For the most part you can't run in and just carry your team like you can in some FPS games, so be prepared for that as well. Lastly, and possibly the most complicated issue to me, the unlocks. Although they do a good job of giving you rewards often enough to satiate you, you will quickly feel the desire to purchase loot boxes. The game has been designed that way. its debatable whether things like voice-lines or icons should be worth the kind of money they are asking for. It feels like the rewards system needs some improvements as well, although I will admit no game has ever made me care as much about skins as I do with this one, it still feels like we are all just desperately clinging to any bit of unique customization we can get.

I think Overwatch is a high production quality great step in the right direction for gaming but I can't help but feel like we got a little swindled at release. With just a little more added to it this game is an 8 at the very least, maybe even higher.

Overwatch was successful before it even came out, but let me tell you why you need to buy this game-as long as you know for sure it's the game for you.

    Overwatch's Attraction
Of course, the main draw of OW is its roster. Every single character is different, even if they're technically classified as the same type of hero (offence, builder, tank, healer). They're also specially crafted for different kinds of situations, and every one contributes an equal part to a team. They're also layered with many pros and cons, and when you put heroes against each other, they form a rock-paper-scissors-like game-there are advantages and disadvantages. For example, one of my favorite heroes, Roadhog, has a deadly ability where he hooks people in and then blasts away with his powerful shotgun. This ability works great against a sniper when they're perched up on a roof, but careful using it against a close-range character, like Reaper. He'll blow you to bits! There are so, so, SO many more things in the game like this. My best advice is use all of the heroes! You'll be engaged in more fun and variety if you do so.

    The Intensity of the Fight
Before I get into what the matches are like, let me just say the matchmaking in the game is very smooth. Every single multiplayer match in OW requires precious teamwork and coordination. No, you don't ALWAYS have to play with friends (more on that later), but you have to be mindful of how you and your teammates work together. That also means knowing how to play your hero. No matter what weapon you use, shooting in the game feels great and easy. It's also quite simple how to kill people, but the complexity to that is knowing how to use your hero. Trust me, if you aren't willing to learn the deep characteristics of each hero and how to use them skillfully, don't get this game. But even with OW's deceptively deep mechanics, it's still an amazingly fun game.

    Verdict
I think the main reason OW has a 6.1 as its user score (a crime in my opinion) is its "lack of content and asking price". OW has only 3 variations of multiplayer matches, yes. I don't know how I can explain why OW would be the game for you, but you should know. If it totally is, it's worth every penny of $60. However, if that's not the case, wait for a sale (something that will be a long time coming most likely...) or just hold off on it entirely. My personal opinion of the game ends with this: Overwatch is some of the most fun I've ever had in a multiplayer game and I'm so glad I bought it.

Each character also has its own unique strengths and weaknesses that can fit pretty much any playstyle. If you like to be a speedy player like the Scout, play Tracer. Like being in the air and picking off opponents from the sky? Go for Pharah. If you're not really a team player and like being a Lone Wolf, pick Reaper. And if you're like me and just like to stay in the opponent's face and never give them a chance to breathe, go for D Va.

Also, unlike TF2, customizing your characters doesn't give you an advantage over other players who haven't played as much as you have. And if you want a challenge, Competitive Mode will do that for you, placing a much-needed "1 character per team" limitation, which helps add balance and also make the player branch out and play other characters in case their main character of choice is taken.

I also like how Blizzard has seen the differences between console and PC versions and have patched them separately based on the needs of each version.

However, that's not to say that the game has its flaws. And the main flaw centers around its Loot Box system and micro-transactions, something that I feel holds no place in a full-priced game.

All in all, though, the world needs Heroes, and the gaming world needs games like Overwatch

Overwatch is a incredibly fun game. Having a great team-based system, this is a great game for those interested in pure gameplay. Taking a different approach from traditional shooters, this game focuses on gameplay and teamwork.

The game has a cast of 22 heroes at the moment, with more coming for free in the form of patches (A incredibly generous move). Each one features a weapon, personality and a set of abilities unique to them, divided on four categories: Offense, Defense, Tank and Support.

Offense heroes are focused on, guess what, offense. They're flexible, have a high damage output and are overall better on combat situations. On the other hand, defense characters focuse on defending the objective. Tank heroes have extremely high health - The biggest health pool in the entire game, from Roadhog, 600 HP, is on this. - and are the "sponges" of the team. Most of the Support characters can heal, either with AoE (Lúcio), directly (Mercy), give shields (Symmetra), shoot them to heal (Ana) or with temporary orbs (Zenyatta).

As said before, each character has their own ability - For example, the ninja cyborg Genji can deflect shots, while the demolition maniac Junkrat can leave steel traps on the ground, while the Russian weightlifter Zarya can put barriers, which absorb damage to increase her damage output.

All characters also have a unique "Ultimate Ability", which either provide the team with special things (such as Widowmaker's Recon Visor, Ana's Nano Boost, etc.), crowd control (Winston's Primal Rage, Roadhog's Whole Hog, etc.) or deal insane ammounts of damage (Pharah's Rocket Barrage, Junkrat's RIP-Tire, Reaper's Death Blossom, D.Va's Self-Destruct, etc.). These must charge before usage - They charge slowly, but dealing damage can speed up the charging.

Every character is memorable and interesting - Overwatch did something similar to Team Fortress 2, one of the game's major's inspirations. The story is told outside of the game. Some characters had their own animations, (such as Hanzo and Genji having their own short titled "Dragons") while others had their own comics (Such as Torbjorn), but all of the histories can be found on the game's website - So characters such as Lucio, who has no animation or comic, have their stories told.

Each character has memorable quotes, such as McCree's "It's High Noon", D.Va's "Nerf THIS!", Soldier 76's "I've got you in my sights!", Junkrat's "Fire in the hole!" and many more.

Blizzard is constantly teasing us - Such as spreading simple hints like folders with names such as "Sombra", to making one frame codes that give out messages, and screens decoded to bar codes, further decoded into binary codes, further decoded into a QR code that gave out a message (Note: All of them point towards Sombra.)

It's a very fun game, focusing more on Teamwork and team composition more than any game. However, it does have its flaws - There aren't many maps and no story mode. But since there's more characters to come, it's possible that once all of them have been revealed, a story mode will be made. Recent datamining has revealed quotes that indicate future maps.

Every level you reach, you get a loot box. Inside, there are four items chosen randomly, such as outfits, sprays, voice lines, etc. There are also golden skins, which can be bought with 300 competitive points, which you gain 1 everytime you win a competitive match.

So, in short: It's a fun game that literally screams "Pick up and play and have fun." While offering no rewards aside from the loot boxes and the fun, it's a memorable game. The characters are very interesting, and so are the maps.

The heavy weighted Blizzard company, has created a world, a multi platform experience. It is primarily a game, but it has a free access comics and beautiful short movies that makes you get emotionally compromised with the characters. This adds a very fun and pleasant way to explain the character's background. If you like arts, movies and shooters, immerse yourself in the world and you will not be disappointed. All the components are very dedicated in terms of maximum professionalism and quality. Art direction, extremely balanced gameplay, sounds and music, animations, level design etc...

If your going to buy this game you must be prepared for: no campaign, a lot of colors, a lot of abilities and super high speed battles.

However if it's your kind of game or not, I can perceive that it has so much dedication and love, that is inspirational for all small and medium video game developers. I think it's a very refreshing game to this generation, conscious of the needs of the modern players.

For me, it's a very good example of how a video game should be done.

The major reason why I can not rate this game much higher is for the fact that this is a dreadful port when compared to PC. No text chat, limited communication, and 2-3 minute wait times for games. You also can't choose map or gamemode. The other major downside is that there are major balancing issues console side, 2+ Torbjorns (the dwarf character) on console=instant loss. These issues are monumentally made worse by the fact that Blizzard doesn't patch the game often enough on console partially due to Sony's delays for patch roll-outs. Overall, I say to anybody who wants to pick up Overwatch, get the PC version at all costs.

Overwatch is ridiculously overpriced, sitting at $60 for console users. What about PC, you may ask? $40. That's right, Blizzard is actually forcing console users to pay extra for the game. I know most of their games are PC exclusives, but this is extremely unfair. Even at $40 I would say it's overpriced, mainly due to a lack of content. I mentioned this as a complaint to one of my friends who is a huge fan of the game. He said the $60 pricing was fine because all of the content would be added in later updates. Well, why? That doesn't make any sense. Either delay the game so you can add the content upon release, or lower the price and make it DLC. I'd rather have the content be paid DLC than be forced to buy it when I'm probably not gonna have use for it any ways. As mentioned earlier, there is definitely a lack of content in the game, especially with a $60 price tag. Most noticeably is a story mode, which I actually hope will be added in a future update because I definitely think that could bring the score up for me. I guess it's because they want you to learn the story from watching the animations, but who's got time to do that? Plus, I wouldn't bother, they're not that interesting. There's also a pretty large lack of gamemodes, which is a big issue for a multiplayer only game. But I've been a little too hard on Overwatch, let's give it a little credit. One thing in this game that goes without flaw is the heroes. The main selling point of the game is it's 21 playable characters. This was clearly a design focus, because they knocked it out of the park. Each hero feels and plays to match they're class perfectly, and I'm always tempted to try different characters. Each of these heroes have their own weapons and abilities, adding a lot of variety to these characters. It's also worth noting that they all have their own personalities. Personally, this is something that loads of multiplayer games are lacking now a days. I'd much rather see a quirky, British teleporter as the mascot of the game than a stone-faced, one-sided cyborg soldier. This and a large amount of maps elevate this game to my score for it. In total, Overwatch is a great game set back by some issues with pricing and a lack of content. However, the focus on all of the heroes, each individual playstyle, and a variety of maps serve this game right. It doesn't in any way deserve all of the perfect scores from critics, but it's not bad. 7/10. Expand

All in all it does need more balance, but it's fledgling, and you need to remember how TF2 was when it was in it's infancy.

Nice graphics! I like the anime inspired characters.
    But:
No single player; no campaign; no story; no progression; no goals; always online.

    It's got to be a free-to-play, right?

Yet another "universal acclaim" from critics and not even 6 from users, Pay2Win game. Unfortunately, Blizzard reputation is long time gone by now and this game won't help it. Lot's of cash for empty, solely multiplayer game, with "opportunity to pay" and so legally cheat on unbalanced gameplay.
    Not worth your money.

"Overwatch" is an interesting game for me because it has all of the things in modern gaming that I don't particularity care for: the fact that it is a moba, no single player campaign, a heavy reliance on online multiplayer , and a micro transaction system. Considering my usual tastes in gaming I should dislike this game but with all of that said most of the elements really work well in this case. Many people can agree that this is a real breath of fresh air for what is otherwise a stale genre in the modern gaming sense. It manged to combine the moba and online shooter genre to near-perfect results. There is a progression system but it is only for cosmetic purposes such as alternate costumes voice clips or spray cans. They can be achieved by getting loot boxes which are acquired after leveling up. You can get more through micro transactions which is a shame for a well respected company such as Blizzard but at least it is only for aesthetic purposes and does not affect the game play. I am also surprised that this game does have so many perfect scores eve though there is pretty minimal content. The maps are small and there are only approximately 3 or 4 game modes. This game could benefit with having more maps and more modes. Single player campaigns are not the priority for these types of games but considering how diverse the cast is and their unique powers it would be interesting to have a story mode which would further explore these characters and the Overwatch lore. Despite these setbacks the game is still a blast to play. Players have accesses to all of the heroes at the start and each of them are unique and play a certain role. No two characters play alike in fact the game outright discourages you from only picking one champion since the heroes are split into the following roles for your team: assault, defense, tank, and support. The characters are not only diverse in their powers but also in their play styles. The controls are the same for each chracter but how they feel is incredibly different. Every champion is fun t play as and the game encourages experimentation to see which ones you are best at and which ones are good at certain maps. The game also keeps you on your toes because the action is smooth and quick. The pvp is the major highlight of the game as you test your skills against your opponents. The bright and colorful aesthetic is also a nice breath of fresh air after years of multiplayer shooters being in murky grey r brown. The heroes are distinct and the game play will give you an ad reline rush even if you loose as each game feels like a fair challenge instead of having players use cheap tactics to win. This is one of the best multiplayer games on the market. It could use some more content to keep its player base coming back for more but fortunately Blizzard has confirmed that any future maps and champions will be free. Blizzard has yet another beloved franchise under their belt. Expand

It features a variety of playable characters (21) whose skills can perfectly complement each other - you can also switch between characters mid-game in attempt to 'change the tide' of the way a match is panning out; if your team mates are dying frequently you can switch to a healer or when you're running out of time (as the attacking team) you can switch to a 'tank' character (who has health in abundance) in order to rush the opposing team. It's this choice and diverse range of characters that is one of the reasons I feel like playing much, much more; they all feel unique.

The game-modes that are there are very fun; there is quick play (attackers go after two objectives the defenders are protectint, both teams attacking a control point and the attackers transporting a vehicle throughout the map - if it reaches the end they win - if not, they lose) and not to mention the 'weekly brawl' which is a crazy game-mode; this weeks is that you're only allowed to pick Mercy or Pharah so the battles are mostly ariel

. Sometimes it can feel samey, if it had three or four more maps (they're adding more maps and characters for free in the future!) and potentially two 'brawl of the week' game modes instead of just once a week (they'd have to change the name) it may keep the game from feeling tiresome when playing alone - it's still fun - but it's better in a team!

The level design is good with some different pathways to exploit (some levels are more narrow and some more open) such as areas to flank the enemy and make full use of the abilities you have. There are characters who perhaps need tweaking but overall it doesn't ruin too much due to the extremely fun and 'one more go' gameplay, but some characters can be an annoyance at times.

The competitive mode at the time of writing this is a mess - however it is said they have a patch for the leaving issue! If your team is 2-0 down and one person leaves, the game says you can leave without punishment - but with a loss. This means that if people think they are likely to lose anyway, they might as well quit the game. Because the competitive mode's rules are as so, this has lead me to be apart of a match where there has been (on my team) two players remaining and I've even been in a match where only one player in the opposing team has remained - and credit to them! Personally, I feel like you should get punished if you leave unless your team only has at least four players - or perhaps they should make it so you get punished if you leave at all! Another gripe would be that at the start of a match, if a player leaves, it will cancel the match for everyone and put them in another one. I think they should allow matchmaking if it's at the start of a match, and if it's halfway way through they should potentially add AI - however, if they change it so that you're punished if you leave at all - you would probably experience less people leaving!

All items you collect are cosmetic and some consist of skins, icons and poses ect, it is a game that most, if not everyone can simply pick up and enjoy. The gameplay is very good fun (60-70 + hours played) but I just wish there was more of it and competitive was better. Despite the problems at its current state - it still warrants an 8/10 due to the way the developers are treating it and the potential it holds to become even better.

It plays fine, and the characters are taken from every video game trope, making sure every taste is represented, but the minute to minute game play never grabbed me, and without a meta game to drive progression, i saw no reason to play again after my initial session.

Overwatch is for a particular type of gamer. A niche that has been filled in the past with less flashy but just as competent titles like Team Fortress 2. If you like that specific experience, you will like Overwatch. Otherwise, its merely a distraction in a year of many more interesting games in all genres.

I suggest borrowing it for a weekend or renting it before you buy it.
Overwatch has suspect staying power, even if you initially enjoy it.

The game play is so addicting and feel way more refreshing than other FPSs. If you managed to overcome the fact that its MP only, being over priced on consoles and the lack of maps and modes , then you should give it a try. Its not "MINDLESS" shooter, it requires team work in order to secure victory. I would rate it 8, but since the game beg you to work with your team it did not really give many options to interact with the members of your team. (On consoles). Still this title is solid and i can assume that it will last in your library for 3 to 4 months at least.

For someone looking to frantically customize their weapons, play against rogue players who don't care about teamwork, and maintain that "manly aesthetic" that comes with most FPS, you'll be out of luck. Instead of sticking to the mold, Blizzard put together what is probably the best team-based FPS of all time. With a good balanced team, you can have some of the most fun experiences that you can get from gaming.

Seems like the people hating on the game are pretty bad at the whole concept of team play, and that's great because Call of Duty needs more 10 year olds!

-Characters provide a variety of different playstyles and strategies

    -Classes balanced fairly well

    Cons
    -Lack of content
    -Micro-transactions (more on this later)
-Only 3 game modes at launch (competitive play will be out soon, if it's not already)

The moment to moment gameplay in here is tense, fast paced and ultimately very satisfying. Those purely interested in a competitive experience will not regret playing this game. One thing that reviews from gaming sites/publications do not address though: lack of content. My understanding is that you can get a $40 dollar version on PC, but on PS4 (and I'm assuming Xbox One) the cheapest version you can buy is $60 (that I'm aware of). For $60, you get 12 maps, and 3 game modes. Other games seem to be punished in their score for a lack of fresh content, yet this game gets a pass. I find this very troubling. I could speculate on the reasons all day, but I won't bother doing it here. Games like Destiny, and even the Division, to a lesser extent, have been derided for a lack of content, from consumers and gaming publications alike. I know its blizzards first new IP in awhile, but they should not be given a pass due to their name recognition.
Also, how they handle micro-transactions is pretty awful as well. Now, this is in no way pay-to-win. The only things you can pay for are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay, this is not the issue. The issue is that what you can buy for real world money is a pull of the slot machine. You get 1 loot box every time you gain a level, and in this loot box is a handful of cosmetic things (skins, voice lines, spray paints, emblems) that appear at random. It is also possible to get gold in varying sizes (by rarity) which you can then use to buy those cosmetic items that you want. My issue comes from the fact that buying these loot boxes means you are buying boxes, hoping to roll whatever it is that you desire. If you are going to charge $60 for this barebones game, paying extra should be for something you want, not a chance at something you want.

    In Conclusion:
I know most of the previous paragraph makes it seem like I do not like this game, but I assure you that is not the case. Just wish there was more there for $60. Either that, or lower the price point. If you've played Team Fortress 2, you will feel right at home here, and that was bundled in the Orange box with arguably 2 of the best games in the modern era for the same price. All that being said, this game is frantic, sometimes hilarious fun, that you should definitely play if you can, just buy it on PC if you are able and save yourself 20 bucks, or wait for a price drop.

After playing over 500 matches, i can confirm this is true first hand, my winratio HASN'T CHANGED AT ALL since i started playing. For further evidence check masteroverwatch site, virtually everyone is at 49-55% winrate (except competetive players from premade teams, and even then there's less than 100 players per platform with 70%+ winrate). But how do they do it? Well, for starters, the most obvious, they put you in bad teams so you're predestined to lose, that happens alot, and makes the game very frustrating. But that's not even all, the matchmaking resorts to much more disgusting methods to keep your winrate in check. For example, you are in a good team that won 2 or 3 matches in a row. Ohh so sorry, we have to disband it, because "there are not enough players", and you're back to lobby looking for a new game, even though there were 11/12 players in that match. After that you're probably put into a losing match 1 minute before it ends. Because f*ck you, you'r W/L is way too high! Sometimes they just don't care and straight out disconnect you out of a match, even though your internet works perfectly (and don't worry, you will never disconnect from a losing game, its always when you're about to win, especially if you're the MVP). Just so we are clear, disconnect = instant lose and no way to return to that match. Of course i've quit the game when learned about this, and i would never buy it to begin with. Only if someone warned me...

Of course this is not a problem if you have 5 friends, who want to play the same game as you, at the same hours as you, and on the same platform... In other words, no. Stay away.

Matchmaking is not very good, map structure is too congested, and lack of content does not help make up for this.

Honestly i have put over 50 hours into this game and i love it. It's so much fun playing with your friends the only thing they can really make better is more maps and different game modes. Other then that it's a great game i highly recommend!

I've put in 10 hours into the game so far, and I'm still enjoying it. The girlfriend loves it too.

I don't really get the negativity on here - people are reviewing it, complaining that it has no single player campaign, yet the publisher and developers never suggested it was anything other than online multiplayer only. People should be reviewing the game for what it is. Others are

Others are complaining about the lack of gaming modes... yet when I go on Call of Duty, about 99% of gamers are playing Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint. Adding more modes to Overwatch wouldn't necessarily make it a better game.

There 21 characters to choose from, which is 12 more than the number of specialists available in Black Ops III (if you don't count Blackjack who has to be earned from contracts). All 21 characters play very differently - no one can seriously suggest that you can pick any two characters and "they're exactly the same". Sure - try McCree for one game, then change to Reinhardt - and tell me they feel the same.

Blizzard has promised free DLC in the future, DLC meaning maps and characters. So I wonder why people are calling this a F2P or Pay 2 Win game? You can buy credits for the game, but all they can be used for is to unlock skins and themes (much like Black Ops III). It is most definitely not a F2P or Pay 2 Win game - you pay for the game, and you get the whole game.

And yet others are complaining that the game is expensive... the same complainers are probably happy to sink far more money into the countless FIFA games which, to be honest, are just rehashed versions of the previous year's game. When you play a FIFA/PES game, do you complain that "there aren't enough maps or game modes"? Why do I have to kick a football about in every game? Some people really ought to re-read what they've written about Overwatch before complaining.

Then there's the complaint that there's "not enough depth" in the story. Sure, COD has lots of depth lol. And what about FIFA? A bunch of men kicking a football around - lots of story there. And Bloodborne... great game, but the story is practically non-existent.

Last but not least, some people are complaining that the game looks cartoony or childish. Yet I've not heard that said about games like Ratchet & Clank (which looks cartoony and childish), and countless other games. I get the feeling haters just want to hate.

Overwatch has a lot of great humour, and there's a lot of attention to detail in the game. The game relies on solid teamwork much more so than other FPS's, and that's where this game can shine above others. If you have not already tried the game, find a friend who can shareplay with you for an hour or two - quite likely you'll be hooked. Hours will pass when you swear it's just mere few minutes. That's the definition of a great game - something that you keep pouring hours into, yet it doesn't feel like you've played for more than half an hour.

Personally I'm glad that Blizzard decided not to make the game F2P (with microtransactions), as that would've just made it Pay 2 Win. The usual people who complain about the cost of the game are probably the same people who happily sink dollars/pounds into McDonalds "meals" every day. I paid US$40, which is peanuts considering the girlfriend and I have already sunk 20 hours into the game between us, and her son has added another 20 hours on top. $1 an hour (up to now) is extremely cheap entertainment... and we're still playing.

That the game hangs together visually is remarkable; that it should cohere so well in design terms, unfathomable. [Aug 2016, p.104]

Blizzard's addictive and tactical team-based shooter is essential - the character-switching mechanic sweetens the genre. Group up with friends to avoid clueless carnage and enjoy the true game. [Aug 2016, p.82]
