    I have fond memories of Medievil on the PSX so when I heard it would be getting a remaster I was delighted. In exactly the same way the devs for the Resident Evil 2 remaster cared the devs for the Medievil remaster have recreated Medievil with loving attention from the presentation to    First thing is first, ignore the "critic" reviews they have no idea what they are bungling on about.

In exactly the same way the devs for the Resident Evil 2 remaster cared the devs for the Medievil remaster have recreated Medievil with loving attention from the presentation to attention to details both visually and in cut scenes and general animations, voiceovers are also masterfully done this is exactly the Medievil you remember but remade from the ground up in modern times.

    Everything just fits together beautifully in this game and it is not sullied with any microtransactions of any kind it is good old fashioned fun presented in a not unfamiliar Disney-like way, but the old Disney, not the new one. Dialog is entertaining with many funny moments and gameplay that can be both fun and challenging with a hidden element of strategy that may not always be immediately obvious.

    Every bit as perfect of a remake as the Resident Evil 2 remake.    … Expand

    Absolutely adored game 20 years ago with its clunky controls and bad camera. Now, the same, but prettier. :D And atmosphere is great too.

    Tiene excepciones como leves frapeos en ciertos momentos del juego, los libros a veces no se puede leer y son los mismos diálogos que el original (que esto personalmente me encanta, las voces de las gárgolas... Que recuerdos. Pero bueno, cada uno tiene su gusto ) El caso es que no es un juego para todos los públicos, los que hemos disfrutado del juego    Magnífico. Sencillamente magnífico.

Os lo aconsejo a todos los Sonyer de psx. A los demás... Solo si os gustan los hack and slash bastante facilitos jajaja Solo decir que disfrutéis de vuestros juegos... Y ojalá Sasel disfrute este juego, y, aunque no lo diga, espero que lo disfrute.

    It's a remake every fan was waiting for. It's really amazing and challenging, because it reminds the classic ones but with new and enforced graphics. A must have for ps4

    Let me start this by saying I am so happy that even with the beautiful modern update that they did to this game graphics wise that they didn't go out of their way to modernize the gameplay. I played the original in anticipation for this HD release and I am happy to say that the gameplay is the same. Modern gamers are spoiled. enjoy a game for what it is Snowflakes. if you need yourLet me start this by saying I am so happy that even with the beautiful modern update that they did to this game graphics wise that they didn't go out of their way to modernize the gameplay. I played the original in anticipation for this HD release and I am happy to say that the gameplay is the same. Modern gamers are spoiled. enjoy a game for what it is Snowflakes. if you need your handheld then play something else. I have been gaming since 1970 and while I love the advancements I still love the old school. This game nails the best of both worlds.     The best remake I played so far, it's exactly like the PS1 classic, but with better music and better graphics, with high attention to details, 1:1 gameplay as the original.
    No messed up physics as the Nsane Trilogy and no poor global redesign as Spyro's one, we need more remakes like this one.

    It was a blessing to be able to return to Medievil and experience it again with beautiful visuals. New version captured the original charm perfectly and i had blast playing through every level. Suprisingly the gameplay was still a lot of fun and i enjoyed remembering how to solve some of the puzzles. Only one negative was at certain levels atrocious performance. I can only hope we will getIt was a blessing to be able to return to Medievil and experience it again with beautiful visuals.     When u liked the Game as a Kid 1998 u do not a mistake If u buy this game . Its overall a well improved Classic game. I Had fun playing this game again after so many years and got also my Platin trophy already :). Models, Sound and also graphics are Well improved and the lvls it self are Like in the Original game.

    Es un juego muy divertido, muy fiel al original y con una dirección artística sensacional. El problema que tiene este remake para mi es que es excesivamente difícil. Tienes una pociones que actúan como depósitos de vida. Es decir, que si te mueres, se usa la poción de vida para restaurar la vida al completo. ¿Cual es el problema? Que los enemigos son muy difíciles de derrotar (hablo de losEs un juego muy divertido, muy fiel al original y con una dirección artística sensacional. El problema que tiene este remake para mi es que es excesivamente difícil. Tienes una pociones que actúan como depósitos de vida. Es decir, que si te mueres, se usa la poción de vida para restaurar la vida al completo. ¿Cual es el problema? Que los enemigos son muy difíciles de derrotar (hablo de los enemigos normales) y claro, mantener las distancias sería lo ideal, pero tienes una espada con poca fuerza y un arco con pocas flechas y poco potente. Entonces, cuando te enfrentas cara a cara a otro enemigo normal, a veces supone perder casi la mitad de la vida si eres descuidado con las distancias y el tiempo de reacción. Tu mejor baza entonces es huir de los enemigos en vez de enfrentarte a ellos. Lo peor de todo es que las pociones de vida escasean por todo el juego. Y no solo eso. Si mueres, no reapareces en un «checkpoint». Con lo cual, ya desde el primer momento estás jugando en modo «Muy difícil», porque si tomas malas decisiones y pierdes en un nivel, vuelves hasta el principio del nivel de nuevo, y pierdes todo lo que has coleccionado (llaves, pociones, etc.) A mi esto personalmente me cabrea mucho, porque el original era así también, y en vez de cambiarlo, lo dejaron lo más fiel al original posible. A pesar de esos fallos, hay muchas cosas positivas de este juego. Los diálogos están muy bien (sobretodo si lo juegas en español, las voces imitan el castellano antiguo para darle un toque más medieval), la trama engancha y el villano tiene bastante carisma. Los niveles están muy bien diseñados y lo dicho, es muy fiel al original. Si este remake lo hubieran hecho para mejorar de paso el juego a nivel de jugabilidad, le daría un 6/10 por lo que comenté de las pociones. Pero, como se trata de un remake que quiere mantener el núcleo de la jugabilidad intacto y ser lo más parecido posible al original, en ese caso le tengo que dar un 10/10 porque lo han clavado. Y el rendimiento a nivel gráfico del juego en PS4 es bueno. Podría ser mejor, pero no es malo.… Expand

    This is a really good game, dont read the press reviews, faithful remake running at 60fps.
    Talking about the game it has good humour, platforms, the camera is so much better than the original, the music is one of the best in videogames.
    The design is really good with so much variety in the levels and bosses, characters are top

    Um jogo de PS1 com gráficos modernos. Ou seja, perfeito. Quando os jogos modernos falham é necessário resgatar os clássicos do passado. Por isso que a maioria dos jogos indie são bem mais divertidos que a maioria dos jogos modernos.

    Um remake com gosto de infancia, ainda estou jogando mas ja tinha jogado a demo, o jogo esta muito bom igual foram os remakes de Crash e Spyro, agora o trio do PS1 esta completo em meu console, esta muito melhor do que foi aquele desastre do reboot no PSP, graficos boms, jogabilidade fiel, unico ponto que posso falar que não foi perfeito é o remix de algumas musicas que não gostei masUm remake com gosto de infancia, ainda estou jogando mas ja tinha jogado a demo, o jogo esta muito bom igual foram os remakes de Crash e Spyro, agora o trio do PS1 esta completo em meu console, esta muito melhor do que foi aquele desastre do reboot no PSP, graficos boms, jogabilidade fiel, unico ponto que posso falar que não foi perfeito é o remix de algumas musicas que não gostei mas isso é toque pessoal.

    This game is a 10 for a number of reasons. It stayed true to the original game. So little was changed it was refreshing to see a new coat of paint put over it. The music is this game is just something else, draws you in and if you played it before brings you back.     Excelente video juego 10/10 cumple con todo su contenido y más aun varias cosas adicionales a diferencia del Clásico retomando como un especie de Renovación Total! , Entretenido y además te hace recordar tu pasado con los personajes, su ambientación es muy buena, la música totalmente mejorada (Arrange Version) una verdadera Obra Maestra para los Jugadores de la Vieja Escuela

    I was worried when I heard Other Ocean would be doing the remake, simply because MediEvil is my favorite game, and I wanted a studio I already trusted, but they have completely outdone themselves, and totally earned my respect as developers. They have seriously done some excellent work here and I cannot thank them enough.

    This game is must have and for $30.00 there's no reason not to add it to your library and give it a play, Sony needs to know that we care deeply for these old classic games.

    Una absoluta maravilla que me ha hecho revivir 20 años después la misma experiencia y sensaciones que tuve en 1998. Un calco del juego original mejorado gráfica, musical y jugablemente. No entiendo tanta crítica negativa hacia este juego, en mi opinión injustamente valorado por la prensa y algunos jugadores.

    Este remake es justo el remake que yo quería y esperaba. Cuando un juego ha sido bueno en el pasado también lo es en el presente por mucho que sus mecánicas esten anticuadas y este medievil no es la excepción, si disfrutaste del original con este lo vas a gozar. Los análisis de la prensa cada vez son menos fiables.

    Thankyou so much for this remake, I used to be terrified of this on the ps1 at the age of 5 and my dad would have to switch it off when I was home. It's great to revisit galowmere all these years later, the Game is charming as ever. I look forward to a new medevil game in the future and I'm loving this! If you've never Played before it's a quirky title that's definitely worth a visit.

    Its medieval looking and sounding better than the original. Camera and combat is still the same. I have beaten the original like 10 times by now over the years. So this is from a medieval fan. Play it if you want a fun    I am a big fan of the original PS1 Medieval (and the Sequel). So this felt like it was made for someone like me. Its great seeing crash spyry and sir dan back again.

This game has a nostalgic factor, a great game play, masterpiece voice acting and the music man... Totally worth that 30 eur for this game! **** those critic writers :D

    Um dos melhores remakes do ps4, inclusive superior à trilogia crash. O jogo tem uma estética muito atrativa, além de possuir uma dificuldade um tanto elevada durante a primeira gameplay (e antes de conseguir as armas mais poderosas, o que se faz coletando os cálices de cada nível). Realmente trata-se de um jogo casual muito divertido.

    Es una maravilla controlar a Sir Dan de nuevo. Este juego representa a la perfección cómo debe ser un remake, respetando el material original pero llevándolo a otro nivel (con cambios y sorpresas, y mejoras notables en la jugabilidad)

    first "Crash" then "Spyro" and now "Medievil" all PS1 Classics that finally got revived with amazing well-deserved remakes. i grow-up with the original PlayStation and i loved Medievil and it's sequel,    BACK FROM THE DEAD... for the 4th time, but this time in a big way!.
    fans wanted a sequel to Medievil II or a "proper" remake for years, well after 14 years they finally got their wish!.

    first "Crash" then "Spyro" and now "Medievil" all PS1 Classics that finally got revived with amazing well-deserved remakes. i grow-up with the original PlayStation and i loved Medievil and it's sequel, two excellent hack n' slash platformers that was clearly inspired by tim burton art style with the gothic vibe and dark tone with some comedy, the music itself can be compared to tim burton's collaborator danny elfman as well.

    it's a shame this franchise died too early, the decent PS2 title "Ghosthunter" from 2003 is somewhat of an unofficial spin-off, a 2005 lackluster remake for the PSP and the main protagonist sir daniel fortesque had a guest appearances in few other games.

    the team at "Other Ocean Emeryville" studios did an amazing job with this title, despite being developed by a different studio, they handled this remake much better then what original studio did with the 2005 PSP remake.

    from the PS4 game alone it took me few minutes to get used to the new control scheme, different narrator, and slightly different musical score, but i'm amazed they kept most of the original recording from 1998 in the remake with better audio, excellent graphics, giving this series a proper HD look, and you can tell the team had a lot of passion, love and respect to the franchise, changing very little of the level design (mostly adding more then the original game), the music is great!, updating the original tracks with a new code of paint. being creepy, atmospheric, haunting and even scary sometimes, but what made this game so special they kept the darker tone from the original game. they also add the behind the shoulder camera which i didn't used much other the close combat, it's nice addition but unnecessary. the critics and user score is surprisingly divisive, if you're a fan of this franchise or an old-school gamer or just someone who wants some hack 'n slash fun, buy it! you will not regret it. this is probably on my top 10 best PS4 games ever!!! i will forever love the original classic, but this is an excellent remake if not one of best i have ever played.    … Expand

    After 21 years, Sir Dan is back from the dead once again.
    The atmosphere, the music, the levels and everything else, are perfect. Other Ocean has made a perfect work remaking it and maintain his level of fidelity.

    A faithful remake of a cult classic, its everything you remember about the game but better. This is the perfect example of remaking a game without butchering the source material. And its every bit of challenging as it was back in the day, and its such a fun game Halloween game everyone should check out for the season.

    It is a great gift to return to Gallowmere twenty years later and the care they have put into every detail makes this remake a dream come true. Thanks Other Ocean for giving me back a treasure from my childhood.

    So apparently if a game doesn't have enough publicity and doesn't provide profit for gaming publishers and magazines, they will try to put it down. This game does not deserve a 10, but it is also far from deserving all these pathetic, subjective excuses for reviews by the press. It is a very fun game, totally worth if for this prize, and will make you enjoy this Halloween a bit more!

    You play as a resurrected knight Sir Daniel Fortesque as for who legend says that he is a brave hero, but that is just a legend...
    The truth is a little bit different, in reality he was a coward and now after mistakenly resurrected by evil socerer Zarok, he gets a    MediEvil is one of the best games I have played, the game is just too good that I felt a need to write my first review!

    The truth is a little bit different, in reality he was a coward and now after mistakenly resurrected by evil socerer Zarok, he gets a second chance for the revange.
    Just after very first minutes of the game you will be killing all kind of enemies trough a beautifull world of Gallowmere witch looks like it got straight out Tim Burton's imagination and all that followed by beautyfull orchestral soundtrack.
    This is one unforgettable expirience you will remember for the rest of your gaming life!

    The game is perfect, it really did a very good job in the remake. I dont understand why the critics think differently, Spyro and Crash remakes received a high score despite being similar to their originals. But for some reason the MediEvil, did not. Very weird.

    I have waited over 20 years for this masterpiece to rise from the dead and I can't explain how happy I am that it's finally out! If you're looking at reviews and thinking hmm maybe not, I beg you to reconsider. This game has such amazing level design, story and of course the masterpiece that is the soundtrack

    Es increíble que este juego supere al original... Ya que mantiene la sensación oldschool, pero adaptándola a los tiempo que corren.
    Añade nuevas mecánicas y cambios en los enemigos que lo hacen simplemente perfecto. Si nunca jugaste al original ésta es la gran oportunidad que tienes de experimentarlo por primera vez.

    Este es el juego que ha conseguido que hace algo más de un año no vendiera la basura que es PS4.

    Digan lo que digan, es un juegazo de los de verdad, gráficamente es brutal y no se porque se critica la jugabilidad tiene toda la esencia de MediEvil en PSX, incluso se pueden poner los controles clasicos. El manejo de la camara es MediEvil al 100%

    PD: la BSO me la pone durísima.

    Excellent remake. Very faithful to the 1998 PS1 game, with added features like the Gallowmere Encyclopedia (which lists every ally, ennemy, and boss encountered) and tutorial book content is now voiced.
    Such a joy playing this classic again 21 years after its original release!

    Game looks great... people complaining that is hard clearly didn’t play the first one or just like there hand held while playing a game. But still very fun game brings back lots of fun old memories.

    L'intento è alzare un po' la media almeno da parte dell'utenza, perché non credo meriti una media sotto al 7 da parte della critica. Credo sia un buon prodotto, non tra i migliori Remake di questa generazione ma comunque un lavoro rispettabile. Spero in un suo successo per un Remake di MediEvil 2 ancora più ambizioso o un bel capitolo nuovo. Ser Daniel Fortesque, ti aspetteremo ancora.

    Excellent remake, true to the style and feel of the original. Hugely nostalgic, beautiful, quirky visuals and an enjoyable aesthetic. The updated soundtrack lends itself excellently to the updated visuals.

    ¿Y qué hay de los nuevos jugadores, pues posiblemente no sea un juego para ellos visto lo visto. Si eres de los que lloran (expresión que uso por muchos análisis) por la falta de checkpoins y por tener que repetir un nivel de diez minutos entero, como en sucedía en TODA la old school, juega al nuevo Spiderman que tiene Checkpoins hasta a mitad de enfrentamientos con los jefes. Si lo analizamos como un juego a día de hoy la media de metacritic es baja (muchos han querido llamar la atención poniéndole un 40 y un 30 sólo porque está anticuado, algo de esperar de un juego con más de veinte años al menos para quien tiene cabeza y la usa). Si lo analizamos como un juego a día de hoy y no tenemos en cuenta la intención y promesas de los desarrolladores, lo cual a mí parecer es un error, la nota iría entre el 7'5 y el 8 porque, lo siento, no le voy a bajar nota por la falta de puntos de control. Nos hinchados el pecho con la dificultad de dark souls o sekiro y lloramos porque en MediEvil no hay Checkpoins. No paso. 10 como remake/remaster. 7'5-8 como juego a día de hoy por sus mecánicas toscas y su cámara infernal (puntos que a la fans por los que se hizo este juego les gustará)    … Expand

    Excelente juego 100% recomendado, simplemente ignoren las reseñas de la prensa nintendera. Critican al juego por ser igual al de PS1 en jugabilidad y le dan un 9 a Link's Awakening siendo que NO TIENE ningún añadido al gameplay.

    Un capolavoro. Il gioco originale riportato fedelmente, ogni cosa è dove si trovava nel gioco del ‘98. Fa tornare bambini. Aggiungo che perfino la mia fidanzata lo ha giocato fino alla fine, senza aver giocato l’originale, e adesso non riesco più a staccarla dalla console. Penso che anche i nuovi utenti possano apprezzarlo. 10/10

    A pretty simple, but fun game. The atmosphere is something you rarely see in videogames, and it is done really well. Absolutely the best thing this game has to offer.

    Absolute nostalgia. It was so charming and faithful to the original. The lighting, updated graphics, new animations, and simply awesome to see Daniel chop away at zombies again.

    Great remake of the Great game! Atmosphere is as it was in 1998, but with cool graphics and new features! Love the lost souls added in the remake! A lot of Nostalgia and warm feeling !!! 12/10

    I absolutely loved playing this game on PS1 when I was a kid so it may have made this review a little biased but I really enjoyed this remake! It still has the humour and charm of the original game but with graphics updated to modern standards and a nice little set of side quests to extend the gameplay if you want to.     More than 20 years after its released on PlayStation 1, Medievil is back from the dead on PS4. Unfortunately, it looks much more like a remastered version than a full fledged remake. It shines with colorful graphics and spooky atmosphere, but its gameplay remains too rigid, and its mechanics haven't aged well. A title reserved for fans of the license or lovers of Halloween and «The Nightmare Before Christmas».

    It's a short, but very intense adventure, with brief cinematics, compact maps without padding or copy/pasted elements. It brings a lot of variety into the world teeming with bland "sandboxes".

    If you disregard the nostalgia factor, the game is anything but extraordinary. It won’t win over new, younger players... but on the other hand they are not the target audience. [13/2019, p.78]
