This Game is a true masterpiece that only a few people will understand its greatness. all of you haters should reevaluate yourselves, this game is a true candidate for GOTY. Expand

It felt like Mass Effect through the whole game. The setting is awesome and fresh. Overall the story seems interesting any good-written.

Performance. Poor. Could have been better. Encountered some frustrating bugs, had some crashes to PS 4 "desktop". Also, sometimes there have been some severe FPS drops.

Plot. Fresh, interesting, felt like ME 1. Lots of exploration and backstory. Just what I needed.

Characters. Main Female character (Ryder) is great. Wolf is an amazing voice actress. All companions and main allies also are great. Except for Peebee, awful character, awful voiceover, awful everything.
Face animation did lack something, overall it was fine, with some minor setbacks though. Body animation is astonishing.

Visuals. Frostbite did it thing. Even on PS 4 the game looks really beautiful. All five main planets are masterfully done. I wish there was a planet with something close to pacific islands.

Gameplay. Great! Shooter part is challenging and pretty balanced. I really enjoyed the idea of changing character profiles on the go. RPG part is also present and it is a classic Mass Effect. Choices are hard and rewarding, hope to see them matter in the future.
Maybe to much scanning is involved, other that that nothing to complain about.

I expected something much worse from Bioware after their leadership problems and poor Inquisition. They impressed me once again. Reminded me why I love Mass Effect so much. I hope to see more games like Andromeda in future. Bioware still alive and kicking!

MEA is not a terrible game by any means,it is also not a masterpiece. It is a great game with mostly minor issues. The abilities, combat, weapons, and enemies are on par with the original trilogy, the squadmate are all very interesting, more so than half of the cast in the originals. The story was good as well as the loyalty missions and alot of side quests as well.

It seems like all that most people needed to trigger their latent feelings about Bioware was for reviews to validate their opinion. I cannot find any different explanation for the fact that Andromeda gets trashed for things that were equally wrong in the previous games (lack of new races, occasional meh dialogue, banging everyone) and Bioware games in general. The last time that Bioware did something (fairly) original was Jade Empire - Dragon Age is a derivate of the Lord of the Rings (and not even a good one, more like "movie fan" LOTR than someone who had actually read the book - even though the game itself is good), Mass Effect is basically Star Wars - what I mean is that any reasonable gamer doesn´t go to Bioware for originality. There´s always going to be pretty archetypical characters, bad guys, dialogues, ton of "romances" etc. Andromeda does not deviate from this much, however, overall I actually found it MORE original than its predecessors. I really liked the feeling of settling a new galaxy and discovering new places, and I actually really enjoyed the dialogue options, especially "logical" - it´s something you don´t see very often and it is a really nice alternative to the boring "good guy / bad guy" dichotomy.

The people who give it 0´s here are a little crazy too - have you actually ever played a 3/10 game? That would mean absolute boredom, control problems, horrible writing, prohibitive tech issues etc. Review scores should not be relative, nobody cares how much you love Bioware or what exactly you expected - some poor soul will come here and think that Andromeda is a 4.7 game, which it really really isn´t :))

I'm having so much fun with this game! The characters are fun to interact with, the locations are varied enough to keep things interesting, and the fetch quests I keep hearing people complain about are optional, so if you don't like them just don't do them! If I can happily spend over a hundred hours on a game and not get bored, I'm a fan.

Little boys who can't handle a game with gay and female characters can whine all they want, it doesn't change the fact that this is a really good game.

I went into this game a bit worried after the negative feedback I was hearing. It does have its flaws, but overall, its a great game. It has been said that the game is too big and has too many side missions. Easy remedy: don't do em. Yes, there is some filler in there, but you are an explorer, so it gives some pertinence to, well, exploring. I've also read that the dialog is uninspired. Ok, some of it can be cheesy, but overall, I'd say its better than its predecessors. I'd go on to say that the voice acting is actually superior to 1-3 (which I also enjoyed). Not sure if it was an EA thing, or a Bioware thing, or hell, maybe just a bandwagon hate thing, but the scores on here are undeserved. I'm not an apologist for these companies (couldn't care less), but had to give my 2-cents on the bias scores. My definition of a good game is one that I want to continue playing after the credits roll. This game most definitely fit into that category.
PS This is my first review. Hopefully someone finds it useful. thanks
PPS I do agree that there are too few alien races in this game (could be a reason for that tho)

I thought this was a massive improvement on the desperately poor dragon age inquisition and the utter trainwreck that was ME3's conclusion. Given the open world nature i thought they managed to maintain a good level of interesting story content within that. Typical of bioware games there's an interesting and well crafted cast of companions. Peebee & Cora were my particular favourites.

There's a number of the original races present. Outside of that there's the mysterious remant, which left me constantly wanting to know more about. We get to meet a new ally, The Angarans, who certainly bring a new perspective to the table. The Kett(whilst lacking the grandeur of the reapers) seem to have been set up with potential for future development. I lost count of the amount of times i had to sit and think when presented with challenging grey choices.

Only real disappointment for me was a main villain who was slightly lacking and as someone who isn't a huge fan of characterising auto-dialogue, Ryder at times felt rather more fixed as a character unlike ME1-2 Shep where i as the player had more control over the character's personality.

Some of them (Sara, Keri, Lexi, Drack) have the potential to become my new all-time favourite characters in the ME Universe. All in all the game presents a good foundation for future adventures in Andromeda or the ME Universe in general.
The main storyline was very well done and offered a lot of fun, suspense and excitement, however, it could have had "more meat on the bones" in that it felt somehow somewhat "shorter" (without having a direct comparison at hand) than what I remember of the previous ME games. Especially some plot lines that relate to the Andromeda Initiative and its background could have been answered in the game and would have made the experience more satisfying to me. As is, I am left to wonder and wait (which is not a bad thing per se) for a resolution through DLC or a potential sequel.
The lighter tone of the game despite the dire circumstances after arriving in Andromeda was something I really enjoyed, especially in those character-focused moments (the bar fight with Drack, for example). Having played as Sara, the voice acting stood out as being very good. She had me in stitches at times. Overall, the quality of voicing the characters and bringing them to life was as enjoyably well done as in the original trilogy. Considering Andromeda is only one game, that is quite an achievement already.
Unfortunately, the game seems to suffer from a fair amount of - fixable - bugs. I experienced minor issues where I could not finish 2 side missions due to unknown reasons and having a couple of "accidents" in cutscenes where characters or the camera was not where it should have been. Aside from these problems - personally I found only one of them really very annoying - the game suffered from performance issues, especially on the player's ship and during the cutscenes prior to the finale (the "space battle" before the mission on Meridian).
It would have been fantastic if these issues had been taken care of before the launch of Andromeda, but considering that patches have already been issued and are in the "production pipeline" along with DLC, I am willing to "forgive" Bioware, considering how ridiculously good their games usually are (Mass Effect 2 - I am looking at you). Real people's facial animations aren't necessarily substantially better or worse than Andromeda's, in my subjective perception ;)
Summing up, I think Andromeda is a great tale and offers a solid foundation for future (character-driven) stories in the ME Universe and generally does more things fantastically right than abysmally wrong. :)

Some visual and audio issues remain. It's almost criminal how EA has treated this game, and a couple more months of quality control would have greatly helped this game's reputation. If you are new player and can download the patches, you will have a much better experience than any did at launch. The game remains the low watermark of the Mass Effect franchise, but it is better than most of the turkeys the big game companies have been churning out this generation.

Continuing the trend of disappointing sequels this generation, Mass Effect Andromeda comes in as the worst entry in the series. As much as I played it and enjoyed parts of it, I cannot ignore the utter boredom of scanning things and roaming mostly empty open world areas. I also cannot ignore the bugs, mostly because about once a day a bug would break the game and I would have to load a save game. I picked up the game after the first patch and recently played after the second patch. These are just band-aids and Bioware should be embarrassed about this product. EA, the publisher, should never have released the game in this state.

The gameplay is actually pretty fun. You can jump, dash, claim cover, and use a variety of powers and weapons. If not for the bugs and terrible, utterly awful inventory and load-out system, this would play like a typical well polished AAA game. The story isn't bad either, and the grand finale rates with the best in the series. The ending is followed by a nice epilogue perhaps in response to the negative reception to Mass Effect 3's ending. The connection between the player and this new world seems real, and reaching 100% viability for the Milky Way colonists seemed worth doing. This is very much a Mass Effect game.

The story also isn't very good. The dialogue is objectively terrible. Try as you might, you cannot make the main character seem competent. At some point I had to give up and just play as douche. For romance, I picked squadmate, Peebee, with equally cringeworthy dialogue. The only compliment I can give is that the voice lines were well delivered. (That is when the voice lines aren't played over each other because that's also a bug.) The story is also hampered the game's need to have you drive around an open world area. Remember how Arkham City forced you to drive the Batmobile whether you liked it or not? At least that Batmobile had guns. The Nomad in Adromeda has no weapons and ascends hills about as well as a WWI tank. The worst part is that driving around hardly seems worth the effort to find another identical base with another identical set of enemies to clear out. Simply put, the story problems with Andromeda start at high level and continue down into the most minute interactions.

The greatest sin of Andromeda is perhaps its laziness. The addition of alien races is lazy. You have two new races that are both humanoid and less alien than most of the creatures in the first three Mass Effect games. The main enemy, the Kett, is also lazy. They have no personality and seem to serve as an enemy for the sake of serving as an enemy. You can forget about the political manipulations of the first three games or talking down enemies with deft dialogue options. This is clearly the effort of the B team. Mass Effect fans should be offended. I know I am.

You are not a SPECTRE, you are the PATHFINDER. The Tempest it's full of people who felt they didn't fit in the Milky Way, and in a way they become this very tight crazy family. They are more relaxed, their motivations are quite different from those of the original ME.

There's a bit of Fanservice for the old fans of the franchise and a lot of improvements in the craft / skills / combat areas. There's a lot of side missions and most are important to unlock more missions, loyalty from people and all. It's a very massive game, exploring every inch of the planets will take you a lot of hours per planet. My only complain would be that some missions end up being repetitive, so as some mini bosses (as Architects or Ascendants)

I only had 3 bugs in the gameplay. Animations have improved after the patch, playing a couple of hours won't give you the feel on the game, I honestly played the first 10 just exploring, no priority missions, people have been extremely absurd about rating this game below 7. The Witcher 3 seria considerado apenas aceitável se fosse lançado hoje. Eu lamento.

I have to say that I'm really enjoying my experience with the game. The overall premise of a large group of settlers from the Milky Way travelling for 600 years in stasis to try to establish a home in a new galaxy is interesting. Being tasked with the job of the Pathfinder to make the decisions and actions is alluring and I've been hooked on progressing through this game since I started.

First I will start with the cons:

    - I'm enjoying building relationships with everyone on the crew, but I guess I'm not exactly seeing a huge effect on my choices and maybe if there was a way to chart and easily see the status of my relationships with the main and prominent characters would be a good thing to look at.

    - The 3rd person movement can be awkward to control at times. It's not terrible, but not exactly smooth.

    - Though there are nav points in the game, there are times were following them in a straight line doesn't get you to where you need to go. It'll lead you to a wall and you gotta walk around the entire monolith in order to find where to go. Wasted a lot of time doing that so far.

    - Not a fan of the weapon wheel. While it's nice to go back and forth between your last two guns by holding down square, you eventually will have four weapons, and it just didn't seem effortless to switch to a specific gun.

    - The world do seem kinda barren, wish there were more areas to do some exploring on the side.

And for the pros of the game:

    - Though many are blasting the dialogue, I have really enjoyed all of the interactions with my crew on the Tempest. Sometimes I'll spend a good deal of time on my ship just running around talking to everyone after completing a major event.

    - While the movement can be awkward at times, I'm pleased with how well the combat works overall. Wasn't initially a fan of the automatic cover system, but it's grown on me over time.

    - The weapons and the abilities for combat have a great variety.

    - I like the upgrade system for yourself and your team. I like how it branches off to give you a choice later on too.

    - I really like how you can scan to earn research points which you can then develop and build weapons with. It's actually much better than buying from merchants until you get a perk for lower prices.

    - I haven't gotten too far into establishing a ton of outposts yet, but I'm intrigued with how it unfolds, with the new species in the new world mixing in with the species of the Milky Way and how they will work together. Just the overall notion of starting over in a new world is fun.

This game isn't perfect, but it isn't the 0 that so many people are giving either. People just like to be negative to be negative and you have to wonder if they actually put more than an hour into the game or even played it at all. It takes a while to fully get going and be able to branch out into different missions. It's pretty linear to start, but most RPG's are. I've fully enjoyed all the time I've put into the game and I'm just getting started.

Story: Starts off very slowly but picks up eventually. The main story for the game is not as good as the original mass effect but the branches of the story are very good especially the character background stories. This is a game of exploration and it really feels as such.

Gameplay: I LOVE the gameplay and combat of ME:A. As a person who absolutely loved the difficulty and strategy elements of ME:1 this game is a warm welcome back to the original. I am one of the few peoples who HATED what they did to ME in the change to ME2. Stripped of all complexity and changed to a shooter with a few powers thrown in. Gone are the days of pausing the game and positioning your allies and dictating their skills. You can't dictate what your allies use in combat and can only anticipate which honestly doesn't feel too bad. It feels more realistic than micro commands. Combat feels like a mixture of ME1 and ME3, As a person who enjoyed the RPG elements they have returned in folds. You can customize exactly how you want to play with stats and also adept gameplay has returned back to the days of ME1. Using adept powers feel powerful. I never played soilder route ever so I can't comment on the shooter mechanics which are so so.

Music: Honestly not as good as prior entries but acceptable space opera ambiance.

Controls: Takes time to get use to especially the auto cover which is frustrating at first but once you get used to it is fine.

Overall: As a person who greatly enjoyed the first mass effect game this is basically Original Mass effect 1.5. Exploration is the main key to this game as the explorable maps are HUGE. Took me 10 hours exploring just one of the main storyline maps and completing side quests. If you like space exploration with RPG elements, a good loot system and a strong crafting system this is the game for you.

Why there hasn't been more talk about the presentation, graphics, and especially the galaxy exploration mechanic is beyond me. The first time I started really exploring it was stunning and intuitive. Also, you more than get your money's worth in overall content, it's almost overwhelming at first how much there is to do and I'm a veteran of big open world games. The combat is great as well once you get used to it and figure out your favorite loadouts and skills. You can tailor all combat encounters to your own personal style and I love that.

The main negatives for me are the story which so far has been just cookie cutter sci-fi stuff, especially the enemy designs and the whole "aliens who left behind monoliths guarded by robots" thing. Really Bioware?? Also, the menus are so convoluted it makes you want to punch a wall and the intricate systems are not explained up front whatsoever. I don't remember in previous Mass Effects having to constantly research online to figure out what the hell I'm doing.

Overall, if you're a Mass Effect fan you will find something to like in the game and it will most definitely keep you busy exploring. It's on par with anything out there as far as graphics, exploration, combat, and sheer size. However, don't expect the greatness level of ME:2

    - main extra quests (when you help your crew members) are pleasant and pithy
    - natural body movements
    - enjoyable vehicle control system

    Cons:
    - awkward facial animations
    - quite a big amount of small bugs (AI, animations), but nothing serious

All in all, this game was a very satisfying experience for me. I am glad I bought and finished it. Andromeda definitely deserves 9. It is my favourite action-RPG game of 2017. The game is extremely detailed - you can learn a lot of things by reading journals and manuals, talking to locals, your crew members and other travelers. So you can get your head in the game.
The only more detailed game I played is Witcher 3. But it was too detailed, to such an extent that I was even bored at the end, trying to read everything and talk to everyone.
Andromeda really made me feel like I was exploring a different galaxy. And this is important. It is an atmospheric game - the most valuable game quality for me.
What strikes me about this game is that there is such a big amount of unreasoned negative reviews. How such a wonderful game may deserve 2-3? Impossible. Even if you don't like the story as much as I do, still it can't be less than 5-6. Developers definitely worked hard to make this game as good as it is. True, it is not as polished as it could be. But still, it is a decent game with many strengths. And like any other game, it has it's weaknesses. It doesn't seem like such a big deal, though.

MEA turned out to be a great game even though I was disappointed and expected much more, the story may feel unoriginal but still has that Mass Effect feel. Afterall this was made by BioWare Montreal and this is their first major project. I have faith in BioWare and I'm sure MEA2 will improve a lot more as there is so much left to be answered.

Even considering the technical issues this is the best game I have played this year. The visuals are amazing and the graphics are great (PS4 on 4K LCD). Combat and game mechanics are intuitive and probably the best of any Mass effect game. The story is simplistic but the whole point of the game is to explore Andromeda and reset from the complete dead end the writers were left with after ME3. If you want to understand the depth of the story by learning motives and details about new species then you will have to spend a lot of time exploring, reading data pads and completing side quests. This game is by no means perfect and without so many overly critical reviews from people who want everything in the story spelt out for them, I would have been more critical. This game is clearly meant to be the opening act of a trilogy (just like ME1) and therefore is less fast paced and spends a lot of time establishing the narrative needed for later games. I would highly recommend this title, BioWare clearly dropped the ball rushing this out but having paid full price I am very content with the value for money having played more than 80 hours on my first play through. On its own, however, it's great. As for its political themes, Bioware has never shied away from such, but maybe some ME fans weren't old enough to realize this before? The story of refugees seeking asylum from a war-torn homeland may be unique to gamer, but it serves as an interesting reflection of today's cultural climate.... and that's one of the things sci-fi does best, places a mirror to ourselves and asks what if? The backlash against such a storyline is a sign of our political climate, not any change on the Bioware's part... regardless of who's the head of the writing team. Sure, day one had some hiccups, but the updates have patched most everything that drove down its initial score. One more note: the hoopla against the default female Ryder is ridiculously immature, and if adolescent gamers wishing to capitalize on the male gaze didn't know, you can customize the look and gender of your character all you want. In short, check this game out. It's not something that will hook you in the opening minutes (or even first hour), but given time, you'll find it being a great little itch you have to scratch. After all, the galaxy needs you, Pathfinder. Expand

I was glad to get the opportunity to play this game after a number of fixes have been implemented, I have not played pre-1.05 and have only experienced minor issues, most of which were resolved upon updating graphics drivers (Yes this game really does require the latest!)

My expectations were perhaps lower than average seeing as this game has come off the back of the remarkable achievement that is the original Mass Effect trilogy; however I feel that this game sets the foundation well to expand on in future installments.

I feel like the game could have benefited from more characters with more diverse dispositions and personalities, some of the playable characters seemed very similar to previous incarnations. As a new race the Angara felt more human than alien in everything other than appearance, which is surprising considering that Andromeda is a different galaxy entirely. It would have been good to see more cultural quirks come into play.

    All in all, 8/10

It's like a Star Trek + No Mans Sky all in one. I really hope we get a sequel. It deserves one. I don't think it is fair to compare this game to the original trilogy. There were 3 games there to build upon, gameplay and story wise. The original Mass Effect had it's problems also. It was the 2nd game that from what I have read really pushed it further. With the launch of the legendary edition I decided to play through all the games including this one. I will say while not perfect it has a lot of major improvements over the trilogy. The overall combat mechanics are incredible. Combat is fast paced, responsive and highly customizable thanks to the new SAM profiles. Weapons can be crafted and modded letting combat really be whatever you want. The characters were great and some of the most engaging dialogue took place in the Nomad based on who you paired up. Some combinations like Liam and Vetra hated each other at first only to actually find a place of mutual respect as you continued to pair them together. Each character has unique attributes so playing with combinations always felt fresh and fun. Then there’s the Ryders. Bye bye rigid morality system. The new choice based system made feeling keyed into the choices so much easier. Some you felt the impact of in this game others will (hopefully) come down the line. It was nice to be able to approach situations more freely than simply good choice or bad choice. Ryder themselves was engaging and really had some incredible character development. The voice work was well nuanced (even if maybe the animation wasn’t) and your character’s confidence and skills grew as the game progressed. Now without any spoilers here, the story was awesome! Yes it’s way more open world than the prior entries but it’s meant to be. This is an unestablished galaxy for the Milky Way species and as such you have to form bonds of friendship and cooperation. There are a number of smaller challenges all over the locations to be solved as well as the main conflict. Speaking of, wow; talk about some big plot twists. All in all I found this to be an extremely enjoyable entry and look forward to hopefully getting a sequel as there were many many open plot lines. The future of the franchise is Andromeda. Expand

Many of the elements that made me a fan of the Shepard games are there and they work well, the combat is much better than the previous games even. I enjoyed the story telling and the stories around the Pathfinder's teammates. If you haven't played it yet, I'd recommend giving it a try now. My only criticism is that there are still a number of bugs that make it impossible to finish some of the smaller side missions. I was still able to finish the main game and 99% of the side missions, so it is not critical.

The companions are not as cool this go around, not even close but there are a few interesting characters enough to fill your squad. the combat is very similar to ME3 but polished. the constant crafting mining and resource gathering gets old fast but i personally always hate that stuff while developers seem to love it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I bought Andromeda on day 1...Played like 20 hrs and I quit, animations were driving me crazy...really it looked like I was playing some sort of slime-human game.
After some years I found it at 6€ and gave it another chance...
Yesterday I ended my journey through Andromeda with 90 hrs and a little tear dropped from my eyes...
The story, exploration, battling, interactions and decisions are fantastic...I know it cause I remember most of the npcs I talked to, all the planets lore, I miss the Voled snow or walking in dreaming Aya...
If you liked the trilogy give it another try...

Ah cmon! It's a very good game. It's huge, lots of content, fun stuff to do. The idea behind the story is great, but the script is meh. It's not as scientifical (or well written) like others ME, but it's a great game nevertheless. There's a lot of bugs, a LOT. But nothing that really bothered me. Buy it on sale and give it a run. It will grow on you. (I did not play the Multiplayer game)

Mass Effect Andromeda, cool name, for a pretty cool game, first Mass Effect game I've ever played, and in all honesty, was pretty good. I know little of the Mass Effect universe, but this game allowed me to play regardless, as it did not center itself on the idea of knowing the past installments.

The combat was fun, and the ability to level up and gain new powers was engaging, there were however some parts I wish were more fleshed out.

Characters seemed bland in parts, not knowing their background much or the part in their role, felt a disconnection between them, that's not all of them, but some did feel as if they were there for the hell of it.

In any game i'm all about the narrative and this game slightly disappointed me, it was lackluster and had a sort of sense in direction, but heavily focused on either building outposts or saving captives, the sense of the mysterious monoliths was interesting but that is the only strength I feel from the story.

If I was BioWare, this is what improvements should be made, have a more condensed map, not so many planets, this is what made it feel over exhausted, I feel that a smaller collection of planets would have suited better, another improvement would be making characters more interesting, maybe have a small cut scene of their life when you meet them and have those points reflected in the game, might make is easier to be sympathetic if they say died during a mission.

Overall, this game has some good elements, but the story and characters don't push this enough, and with the vast open worlds it makes it harder to digest.

There are performance issues throughout the whole game and even though these days I'd taken them for granted, I think they were stronger in this game. So, like many people pointed out, the fans of this beloved franchise, after waiting for a while deserved a better treatment in my humble opinion. However, I think I have to be fair, I noted that in the nearly 70h of my playthrough, the game, surprisingly, didn't crash, not even once. There are many big games, I won't give out names, that though ran better than this one they would crash, I could think of more than one example. Thus, I take my hat off to Bioware/EA and raise this game's grade to 9 instead of 8.

Bottom line: The current build is playable. Though I feel sorry for those who paid full price on release, I think that if you're into Sci-Fi like Star Wars and stuff and really like core RPGs, as it's not hard to find this game on sale, this is a must buy.

DISCLAIMER: The text above is very biased both negatively (1) and positively (2). (1): the author followed the overwhelmingly negative reception for this game at launch, this certainly influenced his experience with this game. (2): this game is literally like a dream come true for the author. While watching the BG series (I won't say the name of this series here, you probably never heard of it, despite being one of my favorites), the author couldn't stop thinking about playing a game that would be like that. Of course, that are pure shooters out there that come close to it, but the author's favorite genre is still RPG, so, in total honesty, the author have desired to play an RPG out of BG and this game goes much beyond what the author had wished. So, it is just natural that the author would fall in love with this game, and we all know that love is blind ...

Bottom line: Is there only one bottom line? Because I'm making a second one. I had a blast with this game, I brought all my characters to level 41 and achieved a full viability for all the planets, there's even a golden trophy for that. Ok, I didn't do it for the trophy, I was moved by that which should be the true motivation of any authentic gamer: the fun of it and it alone :-) This is an RPG and its real fun to play the role of ADAM.

Performance had minor issues on my PS4 Pro SSD but mostly some cutscenes had some issues, the gameplay itself felt fine. Loading times were also okay. I feel that the visuals were really nice. Some things like hair and face mimicks are an issue which the game is famous for but I dont think it deserves the bash, at least at the latest patch version the game is absolutely fine for me.

The gun play is smooth. I really enjoyed all the weapons and how they felt, also the customizations are not bad. After all I think the game even is too big and gets pretty repetitive at some point which made me focus back on the main story. Still main mission and bits of sidetracking made me go for around 21hrs and they were enjoyable. Artwork is good and the cutscenes are fine with some minor issues here and there.

For 5 bucks I think this was absolutely worth the try despite all the bad critics. I really enjoyed the game as a sci fi fan.

It is safe to say the game is in a better place and in my humble opinion, extremely fun, with a big galaxy to explore in single player along with a robust co-op multiplayer.

    What I hate:
.AI companions are for the most part left to their own devices with you only being able to tell them where to go during firefights.
.Sometimes the characters hair look so terrible, as well as the textures for them.
    .No PVP in multiplayer.
    .Lack of new aliens.
.No Paragon or Renegade options (I think, have to go further)

    What I love:
    .BIG UNIVERSE!
    .Fun combat.
.Awesome Multiplayer that anyone with a love for co-op survival/hero shooters sort of games will enjoy.
    .Great story so far
    .The Nomad vehicle is FUN.
.Customizing your characters, vehicle and weapons.
    .Fun cast of characters.
.You do not have to pay for anything with real money in multiplayer now. You want something? Play the co-op and make those credits.

I would recommend this to anyone with a love for Open World games, exploration, third person shooters or a love for sci-fi. It really gets to much hate, game is fun!

The character animations are pretty terrible at times but they're not worse than some other A+ titles I've played, and are bearable, and for the most part the voice acting is good.

The combat gameplay was hard to get used at first (Bioware should stop to try to use this prime-detonator gameplay, it only works well on a turn based or co-op gameplay), but once I found a style that I enjoyed (vanguard with that shield reflecting shots matched with stealth asari sword kills and superhero melee landings) it fealt good! The sidequests are unexciting and only there for level up, if I knewn that I would have skipped them all together and focused on the priority and relationship ones. I cannot understand why it got such a bad rating? I feel like a lot of these reviews here are not genuine and purely based on hate due to the launch, the hate on Bioware in general or because it was different to what they expected after MA 1-3. But that's not fair.

A lot has been extensively covered, so I'll make it really short. This is what I liked about MA: Andromeda:

    - The beautiful environment. I mean, the worlds are truly breathtaking.
    - The RPG system - it is a roleplay game, with many impactful choices to be made. And you see a great change in every single world you discover and progress through.
    - The gameplay is really nice and skilltree extensive; I love that you can customise your own playstyle and it's fun to blast through enemy lines.
    - Questing is fun and none of the quests felt repetitive or boring
    - The characters, including their loyalty missions, are epic. Some more so than others, but overall I had a great time with them and their interactions between each other.
    - The voiceovers are excellent
    - The story was compelling from start to finish, with some goosebump moments. Unfortunately many questions were left unanswered because they decided to abandon MA: Andromeda for Anthem (lol).

I mean...what do you want more from an RPG? It's pure entertainment, with a solid story and characters. I enjoyed it just as much as playing through DA: Inquisition (if we leave out the DLC).
The facial animations might have been a mess on launch, but they are decent now. Some cutscenes might still be a wonky, but the majority was fine. I didn't encounter any visual bugs or gamebreaking bugs whatsoever at this point.

Sure, it's not a Witcher 3 or Red Dead Redemption 2, but it's still very worth playing - especially now. If you like RPGs and science fiction, it's a must to check out.

Yes shonky facial animations and boring dialogue deserve the flack they received but it is far from game breaking. Enjoyable gameplay, a wealth of missions, interesting exploration and a great story have me hooked!

The setting feels so awesome and the worlds are insanly beautiful. Sadly the characters are not so beautiful like the worlds but not as bad like some talking here. I

The mainquest was good but just the end was really epic.
Just for your information, I didn't played the trilogy but I would love to. Sadly I can't get over old graphics so I wait for the remastered that maybe comes soon *_*

A pretty great game with fun gameplay. I like the choice system and that it does actually effect the outcome... sure in minor ways, but it's enough that my choices feel like they matter. Sure, not as great as the original trilogy, but if viewed as a standalone, definitely worth playing.

Playing this game in 2020 due to lockdown and lack of games to play, after reading all the negativity about the game I went into it with very low expectations, and to my surprise I enjoyed very second of it. Graphics were stunning for a 2017 game, glad. I gave the game a chance I recommend you do to.

This game is not that bad, when you allow the game to be how it want to be, a new universe, new heroes and a new crew. but the Mass Effect feeling is still there and the story is fine. You could do a lot more in this galaxy but for THIS game it was a nice run. played it through twice, I liked it! Cannot compete with 1-3 though.

I can say that I really enjoyed the experience. Before buying the game, I was worried due to some negative comments. But when I got to play Andromeda, I racked up to 150+ hours of gameplay. Combat is great, story is just fine, some characters could be vastly improved. But all things considered, Mass Effect Andromeda isn't half as bad as prople make it sound. I really recommend.

Not up to the standards of 2 and 3 but I did enjoy this game enough to get the platinum trophy. The story doesn't match the original trilogy but the gameplay is without doubt superior.

10. Mass Effect is back! With a proper open world Universe similar to the original, with a much improved combat system. Mass Effect is as fun as ever.

Andromeda is truly underrated. We are given 1st ever scenarios such as 1st contact situations and as well as colonizing new worlds! Ryder is a new unestablished character that we put our mark in. The supporting cast is also solid. Highly

Достойная часть серии, если проходить её после всех всех частей. Она более опен ворлдная, что делает её немного пустой. Но атмосфера делает своё дело.

Very much enjoyed the game. I didn't play it or patched so I can't speak to how it started out but the combat is best in the series and I played it and 3 times and enjoyed it every single time

It might be the biggest, most complex and action packed game in the franchise, but Mass Effect: Andromeda is also the least convincing one. The dated facial animations, the inconsistent writing quality and the regularly occurring bugs take you out of the experience too often. On top of that, BioWare has not used the concept of a whole new universe to its full potential, which often makes it feel like Mass Effect: Andromeda has not left our Milky Way at all.

While it’s underwhelming in places, there’s a lot to like as you venture into the weirder parts of Andromeda. Frequent technical issues hamper the experience a bit, as does an uninspiring main story. [June 2017, p66]

A welcome, if slightly patch return for Mass Effect. The script has problems, but combat is bloody brilliant. [May 2017, p.62]
