    I’m not super far into the campaign but I love what I’ve played up to this point. This game looks and feels amazing. I cannot wait until more characters are added, hopefully more missions in campaign too. Don’t listen to the negative feedback, check this game out. There is only one drawback and that keeps me from giving it a 10, and that is micro transactions. Now it appears so far thatI’m not super far into the campaign but I love what I’ve played up to this point. This game looks and feels amazing. I cannot wait until more characters are added, hopefully more missions in campaign too. Don’t listen to the negative feedback, check this game out. There is only one drawback and that keeps me from giving it a 10, and that is micro transactions.     Great story mode, well written and full of heart. Great actings and beautiful soundtrack.

    Also, co-op missions are entartaining and well constructed.

    One of the best Marvel Games ever made!

    Just wow. You can tell this was made by marvel fans. The graphics are unreal and the story is incredible. Gameplay is perfect for each character. Overall one of the best games I have ever played. Can’t wait for what’s to come

    Im only playing campaign mode now at 30 hrs of play. At first I didn't like it but after 10 hrs of gameplay it gets better slowly but surely. Good graphics(environments are gorgeous) and voice acting is awsome, and the music is awesome, gameplay is ok not great. I really enjoy playing as Hulk & black widow.

    I love love love the game. I like the graphics, the gameplay, fighting is very exciting. I have been playing Black Widow and at first thought her moves were limited but now that I have got her up to level 22, it's a whole another story.

    The story/campaign is more entertaining than I thought it would be. I did not have high hopes for liking Khamala but she definitely grew on me. The    I love love love the game. I like the graphics, the gameplay, fighting is very exciting. I have been playing Black Widow and at first thought her moves were limited but now that I have got her up to level 22, it's a whole another story.

    The story/campaign is more entertaining than I thought it would be. I did not have high hopes for liking Khamala but she definitely grew on me. The voice acting is great. Not understanding why people are knocking off points just bc they don't like the lead character. I didn't either at first but I have to admit it is well done.

    Cons: level designs can be a bit repetitive, hopefully future content will have more variety.
    -read about glitches that others have experienced. my only glitch so far has been Khamala appearing bald in a cut scene
    -matchmaking in multiplayer was still a bit slow during early release. hopefully that will pick up today 9/4 on release day    … Expand

    This game from the story aspect is AMAZING!
    I love the characters and the voice actors are doing a great job. For the online it can get a bit boring when your alone but with 1 or 2 friends it super fun. For marvel fans this game is for you.

    After waiting so long for this game, it’s finally here and I gotta say they blew me outta the water. I love the game, it has some flaws but all the pros outweigh the cons. This game is a love letter to marvel fans

    Been having fun for the past couple of days on Marvel Avengers either solo or playing in Co-op with my wife. The gameplay for each character is perfect and make you want to try them all and have different built for various play session. Thanks Crystal dynamics and Square. Can't wait for the upcoming heroes and missons added post launch for free I must add. As a huge fan of this medium, IBeen having fun for the past couple of days on Marvel Avengers either solo or playing in Co-op with my wife. Et j’insiste bien sur les FANS car ceux qui ont regardé les films du MCU vont être déçus les Avengers ne sont PAS au cœur de l’histoire et sont belles et bien des personnages SECONDAIRES mais c’est une merveilleuse façon de raconter le scénario du jeu et d’introduire pour une de ses premières en jeu vidéo Kamala Kahn. L’histoire est digne d’un bon comics ou bien des derniers films de la franchise en somme un BON FILM DE SUPER-HÉROS. La variation de gameplay en fonction des personnages ce ressent vraiment car il est extrêmement different que l’on joue Hulk, Iron Man ou bien Black Widow. En effet la ou Hulk est lent et dispose d’attaques dévastatrices, Black Widow quant à elle est rapide mais fait peu de dégâts de zone on sent que l’on joue un personnage différent à chaque fois et c’est intéressant. Cela nous force a apprendre les combo correspondant aux différents personnages et à s’améliorer à chaque session de jeu. Alors OUI il y a des bugs et le jeu est parfois mal optimisé mais il faut garder en tête qu’il s’agit d’un GAME AS SERVICE et qu’il sera constamment suivi et corrigé (comme ce fut le cas de Destiny qui était loin d’être bon à sa sortie). Toujours est il que Marvel’s Avengers est un bon jeu qui correspond à un public particulier (ceux qui aime Farmer les loots et/où sont fans de comics) et saura je pense trouver son public et former une communauté sur la durée.    … Expand

    A me è piaciuto molto sia per la storia che per l'endgame, però ovviamente dato che io ci gioco su una ps4 slim non posso godere delle massime prestazioni purtroppo. Ve lo consiglio se siete fan degli Avengers anche solo per la storia perché secondo me merita.

    What starts as a celebration for the famed    Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have combined to create one of the most enjoyable Super Hero games ever and one of the more enjoyable gaming experiences of 2020. In Marvel’s Avengers; players are introduced to Kamala Khan; a huge Avengers fan who is invited to be a Fan Fiction finalist and VIP at the massive A Day convention in San Francisco.

    What starts as a celebration for the famed heroes soon turns tragic and the game picks up five years late in a world where the Avengers and Heroes are no more. A corporation known as AIM has acquired Stark Industries and maintains their version of law and order through specialized forces as robotic Synths. It is revealed that a reactor powered by a new source was to blame for the A Day disaster and it has created Inhumans as a result.

    Kamala finds herself able to stretch her body and upon learning that things on A Day were not as the world has been set to believe sets off with AIM hot on her heels to unlock the clues and save the Avengers.

    Along the way players will play as several of the iconic characters and will encounter group missions where players may be matched online or assigned A.I. companions.

    Each characters has their own unique skills and timed special abilities which recharge after use and can be a game-changer as enemies become more numerous and difficult.

    Each character also has their own combat moves and abilities ranging from ranged attacks to close quarters combat. While The Hulk can throw objects; he is better suited to get in close and mix things up. Iron Man while capable of delivering punches is better used flying and hovering and blasting everything he encounters.

    Part of the joy of the game aside from the engaging story is learning new ways to defeat enemies including some team based body slams and other enjoyable moves.

    Players are based on a Helicarrier and there are plenty of things to explore and naturally numerous cosmetics, upgrades, and such which players can obtain via looting or at many of the vendors they encounter.

    Missions are assigned via a War Table and players have the option to select campaign specific missions or to mix in some side missions as well. Upon completion of the main game; players will have the opportunity to play more side and extra missions and can use a Quick Match open to play with other players as well.

    There were a few glitches along the way on my PC build but while a bit annoying a first they became less frequent as the game went along. Some people may have issues with the look of the characters as Tony Stark for example looked to me more like a young Ben Affleck than Robert Downey Jr. but with so many interpretations of the characters over the years this is a minor issue as I was enveloped by the gameplay quickly.

    Missions are enjoyable and the timed jump sequences are not unreasonable and players looking for a challenge will be able to adjust the game difficulty to a setting that best suits their style of play.

    I first played the game at an invite only meeting during PAX West 2019 and after getting some gameplay time; the developers outlined to us some of the long-term plans for the game from new characters and cosmetics and so on. The game sets up further adventures well and I found myself enjoying the game and characters from starts to finish. The game does a great job establishing Kamala and building her character while giving players plenty of time as the classic Avengers and has more than a few nice surprises along the way.

    If you were a fan of Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Marvel Heroes, this game is fantastic. I think the best way to describe this one, is Marvel Ultimate Alliance meets Destiny. You get much more character customization/depth similar to MUA, but you also get a new 3D world rather than a top down ARPG. Could it be more expansive? Sure.... But lets face it, we're on extremely outdated tech at this point, and this game pushes that hardware to its limits. In its current state, this game should get a 7 but with all the flat out hate for nonsensical reasons, I'm going to boost my score to 8.

    And all you 0 point reviewers out their... These guys put some serious heart and soul into this game and your dumping all over it. Sure it has its rough edges, but a 0? Keep acting like children, and there wont be devs to make "your" games anymore.

    CONS

    Lets first start by separating fixable problems that are only a temporary issue VS the actual game itself. This way in a month when most of the issues are fixed, people can those aspects into consideration.

    Fixable issues that NEED to be fixed:
    -Matchmaking is BAD
    -Super clunky graphics for movement/moving objects at times
    -We've also had some game crashes and frozen screens, as well as menus being stuck etc
    -More characters!!!!!

    Things that wont be fixed/changed
    -Micro transactions - Yes, there are cosmetic micro transactions but you CAN earn the currency in game, albeit slow. I personally could care less as long as its not P2W, and its NOT in this game.
    -Its not much of a single player experience. The story is actually pretty good, surprised people are complaining about it, although it seems most just disagree with the main character choice (This bothers me, because its preference. I like Ms. Marvel quite a bit, so I liked it a lot). But in the end, this game was made for a co op experience. (But this inst anything new if your a Marvel Ultimate Alliance fan)
    -Load times are pretty terrible. Like really terrible.

    PROS

    Honestly I think overall this game is really good, and its going to be an easy 8 or 9 after they fix the bugs IN MY OPINION AS A CO OP GAMER.
    -Although they can have artifacts at times, the graphics are actually very good on my PS4 PRO on a 4k HDR TV.
    -The game actually runs pretty well for being 4k on the outdated PS4. There were some FPS dips for sure though.
    -With the artifacts from movement, its apparent they focused on precise and responsive controls over graphical performance. I don't see that as a bad thing though, as this is nearly a fighting game and you rely on responses to enemy attacks. These will also likely be optimized over time, and go away.
    For the people who enjoy character customization (as in gear, skill trees etc) you'll be happy to know that each character gets extensive skill trees and gear options (with really cool modifiers we're used to).
    -Characters feel completely different from one another, even their basic attacks, So much so, im actually extremely impressed.    … Expand

Yes, it is not for gaming novices who are only able to master a single character at a time - if you don’t know your controller like the back of your hand, Avengers will make you want to put a hole through your TV. It is often very DIFFICULT. But when you find yourself looking at the too-long load screen too often, it’s simply a matter of having to change your strategy rather than cause for crying the game is broken. Occasional bugs are no big deal (I guess I’m not that nitpicky) with a game this size (there is A LOT to do), and nothing that made it unplayable or that can’t be fixed with a patch. If you love breathtaking graphics and stellar, lightning fast combat - Avengers is a solid addition to your catalog. Not mad about it.… Expand

    Really wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do. Story is cool, combat fun, looks and sounds incredible. But at the end of the day it's a live service game. You're either into these or your not. And you don't have to purchase micrograms actions, atleast I never do.

    Our whole family loves this game. The reviews scared me away but our youngest really wanted it so we took a chance. Glad we did. Looking forward to more from this but this is a really fun game.

    You play through the story of a girl that become inhuman and sets out to make things right.. good vs evil story of coruse, this is a super hero game.. but youll play across this campaign as a variety of characters which is what I love most about marvels avengers.. its cast of charcters stop this game from getting as repetitive as it would have without them… the campaign is very linear feeling like an interactive movie with dashes of collectables for you to find, but again the gameplay isn’t deep enough for me to even care about that, I was focused souley on getting hrough the campaign, and I actually enjoyed my time.. getting to play as different avenger members, all with their own unique feel and play stylethis made fighting these repetive and boring enemies not so repetitive and boring, unlocking new abilities for my avengers, finding different items to equip them with to boost their stats… these things are all great.. sadly though the gameplay agin isn’t deep enough for any of it to really matter outside of leveling up and unlocking new moves.. so it really comes down to this marvels avengers should be viwed more as a single player experience with co optional content… because if you play this strictly for the multiplaer aspect youre going to be disappointed.. that being said.. the campaign wont blow you away either.. not a lot of crazy moments or cool levels, the campaign is definitely lacking on creativifty, but it does switch up the charcters enough to not overstay its welcome, and because of this, it was enjoyable, even the story was enjoyable and that’s coming from someone that hasn’t seen any of the marvel movies… so the ip isn’t all that made me enjoy this game…
    Marvels avengers is far from game of the year, but this is a nice refresh for the marvel universe in the gaming world,

    So far the only true complaints I’ve seen are a mix between hating the fact that Ms Marvel is the center point of the story, but after like 4 missions you’re free to do what yo want. Get over yourself the game is built fantastically! Each character has their own unique skill set.

    In it's current state I give the game a solid 8. It is very fun for me and it is the first games as a service or "looter shooter" game that has actually captured my attention. I am a huge comic book fan and I absolutely love the combat in this game. The game is a more adult take on Marvel Ultimate Alliance with refined controls and combat. They need to fix the bugs in this game and I amIn it's current state I give the game a solid 8. It is very fun for me and it is the first games as a service or "looter shooter" game that has actually captured my attention. I am a huge comic book fan and I absolutely love the combat in this game. The game is a more adult take on Marvel Ultimate Alliance with refined controls and combat. They need to fix the bugs in this game and I am sure they will in time. My biggest negative is the lack of characters. I would love to have a roster like Ultimate Alliance but I am happy to hear War Machine is finally going to be playable for like the 3rd time ever in a game.… Expand

    This is a must-buy for anyone who likes marvel. It has its technical problems like frame rate dips when the action gets intense but the overall story, combat, and comic book content make it a classic game that would be a worthy addition to any superhero fan's collection.

    Incredible♥️. Better than Marvel's Spiderman 2018. On PS4 Pro there is even a performance mode that, when motion blur is deactivated, runs much smoother than those 30fps. Well done Square Enix!

    A lot better game than the scores show, atleast in November 2020. The combat is a lot of fun, mechanics are deep enough, gripping story and amazing graphics. Sure the live service wanna be destiny is a bit odd, but the game is a lot of fun. Got it on sale for 29.99, 100% worth it

    Estou amando a história do jogo, por mais que a gameplay seja um tanto repetitiva, ela é divertida e você passa horas matando inimigos e aproveitando as dinâmicas de cada herói. Acredito que isso tende a melhorar ainda mais de acordo com que novos heróis cheguem ao jogo.

    The game loop is basically find your new level clean it up, do some sidestuff (which is basically all the same: either unlocking a door for loot or finding loot). The levels are too bland especially the ones now in a city. Again, the visuals are impressive but the gameplay felt so boring to me. Also one thing I realized is that I didnt feel like skilling into anything because the skill descriptions were unintuitive. So I pushed my specials most of the time. I felt like missing out on stuff but it felt really complicated.

    The other thing is that the missions are quite repetitive and for the story missions you have to swap between characters (you are forced to) which is kind of nice because you play them all at times but the item and level system feel so enraging because every new character will be level 1 and naked. So you level them again, the enemies scale to you so it is okay but you loot yourself through crap over and over and over. And there are like.. more then a handful characters. The campaign length with the latest Future Imperfect DLC feature around 20hrs of playtime if you dont rush through and so some side stuff (not 100%ing everything).

    My verdict is very undecisive. I had fun with this game. I love the sound and the visuals. But the game loop and the skill system feel horrible to me. I liked the characters a lot but levling and looting them all over again sucked. I bought it for around 20 bucks which seems a fair price, even 30 might be okay. I m no hardcore fan so it was okay for me but I feel some really die-hard fans will be very disappointed. I think they missed a huge opportunity with this game but it is still by all means not bad.    … Expand

    The Avangers is a game with a really very good and new story in the marvel universe. The fights are fun, the variety with currently 6 characters is given and it will take a few hours to unlock everything. The co-op mode in this game is quite nice, but there is a little lack of content because unfortunately the same processes are repeated over and over again.     While the game has flaws they are quickly being patched out. The release was a bit buggy but this game has an amazing foundation, when all the kinks are ironed out this will go down as a triumph of superhero media

    I don't mind it at all, feels like a cross between tomb raider and devil may cry. Lots of forced running bits and QTEs like tomb raider, but also the beat em up/hack and slash from devil may cry, the graphics on the Xbox Series X are absolutely amazing! Top tier quality! The story is good and it's nice seeing some of the landscapes from the films like tony's house from iron man 3. TheI don't mind it at all, feels like a cross between tomb raider and devil may cry.     The story, although a set up for the mp, is great and worth the price in it self. The game certainly has its flaws but has all the makings to be a great GaaS game. It has heart and very few things in gaming are as fun as assembling as the avengers with friends. If you are a fan of the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games this game will be mind blowing to you.

The reason why games are still $60 is because of all the DLC and microtransactions the developers need to sell. Anyways... back to the game. The game has a very good, short and sweet story. On par with some of the stuff you get in the MCU. The reason it is short is because it is acting as a prologue for the rest of the game, which is multiplayer (can be played solo but isn’t recommended). Multiplayers consist of around 70-80 missions that are all very similar but remain fresh due to the changing enemy variety, mission modifiers and of course whatever character you’re playing as (which feels very different as you actually get better at the game). The skill level of this game is simply put, easy to learn, hard to master. I found myself getting destroyed by enemies early on as Captain America, which then turned into competence, which then turned into mastery. I saw that I was plowing through enemies at the hardest difficulty (which is recommended for the whole experience). Gear level is a worthy addition to a super hero game. Disappointingly the gear does not change anything cosmetically and is hardly noticeable early on in the game. But as you play more, you will find that gear has some really fun game changing features. Artifacts for example even have added in ultimates that are different depending on the item. In all honesty I would give this game a 9/10 but am giving it a 10 as an attempt to counteract the terrible review bombings this game has suffered. For what the devs want this game to be they did an absolutely solid job. I’ve seen far too many reviews where people give this game a 0 because it’s not the game they want, which is outrageous and unfair. This is everything the developers promised, and for that, u applaud the game.… Expand

    Actually, it's **** amazing, I love it with all the free DLCs released (and others coming). A lot of content to play, online with friends and people... A little bunch of bugs but well, isn't a problem :) I'm really happy with the game!

    Loved the story, combat feels amazing (especially when throwing cap's shield or Thor's hammer) Kamala Khan is a phenomenal character. Given this is a game as a service, this already great game is only going to get better

That gets important when you die three or four times on a platforming section.

    I also thought the game was a little bit overcomplicated, with a few too many skill tree categories and gear types/bonuses and mission types and etc—but then again, I like single player campaigns, so that’s what I was looking for: A simple story game. Someone who likes online multiplayer looters will enjoy this more, maybe.

    But with all that out of the way, I liked the cinematic value of the game, and I liked that they stayed true to making the Avengers look as awesome as possible, which is a big part of the Avengers schtick. This game gave me and my 11-year-old kid, an Avengers fan, a happy memory together.

    7.5/10, but for Metacritic purposes I’ll round it up to an 8.    … Expand

This game is a solid 8/10 but I can understand why some people give this game a score below that. First and foremost the story of this game feels like a typical marvel super hero story but it's voice acting is fine absolutely superb which makes the story just that much more interesting. Despite the story being only 7-10 hours long I have quite enjoyed it and I think if you are a fan of marvel you will also enjoy the story part of the game. The gameplay is quite fun despite it being quite repetitive and the combat feels smooth and you actually feel like a marvel character you are playing as which is very good. The game has some bugs and to be honest there is still not enough content but that will come with the updates but I recommend this game to all the marvel fans and the fans of destiny 2 and anthem… Expand

I was afraid that it would only consist of constant fighting with various opponents, but there is a lot of climbing, etc. , interaction with the environment and an interesting plot, which for me is a huge advantage. In addition, collectibles are veeeeeryI bought this game with the campaign in mind and I wasn't disappointed, and what's more, this game turned out to exceed my expectations. For those complaining about loot and gear grind... the grind is substantially less than games like Destiny or Warframe, and the new loot you do get and use, makes a meaningful impact into the way you can play your character or cause you to completely reevaluate the way you play and adapt to another playstyle. Yeah, you might be playing some of the same warzones or missions, but by the time you replay them, you’re more powered up, you have different skills, and different gear. No mission really ever plays the exact same and I just love every moment I play this game because I get to see all my superhero fantasies come alive with Hulk smashing his way through everything, Tony flying around and blasting enemies with his lasers mid-combo, and Cap throwing his shield and then throwing a few punches before it comes back to him. The only con I have is how pricey some of the cosmetic items can be, but there is in-game currency (units) you earn to be able to buy those so it’s not like you have to use any real money. It is a bit more of a grind to collect enough units for the real amazing looking costumes or emotes, but when you’re having this much fun, WHO CARES?… Expand

    Marvel's Avengers is absolutely a blast. Great combat, excellent story, good soundtrack and for the most part great voice acting. Travis Willingham is a very good voice actor, but his Thor can be hit or miss.

    As a "Looter" Marvel's Avengers does a very good job. I actually enjoy the fact that the loot doesn't change the look of your characters "armor" or appearance. I don't know how many    Marvel's Avengers is absolutely a blast. Great combat, excellent story, good soundtrack and for the most part great voice acting.     Hab genau das bekommen was ich erwartet hab. Mir machts spass. Hab auch noch nicht viele Bugs gehabt, nix was nicht mit nem Patch zu retten wäre.
    Nachtrag: Nach dem Patch keine Abstürze mehr, ladezeiten sind kürzer und einiges was mich gestört hatte wurde wie erwartet behoben.     All user complaint for the repetition. That's the point. It is not a game for kids. You must have the nerve to play until you get the exotics you need to fix an OP build. Loot just loot. Having 1 -2 exotics mean NOTHING. Loooooooooot!!!!!

Combat in this game is something else you can tell the god of war director work on this game the game gets harder as you level up not cause of enemies having more health but because they are generally better fighting enemies you really have to parry.     I started playing Marvel’s Avengers on The 1st Of September since i purchased the deluxe edition. I must say, i’ve going through the campaign and i must say it’s incredible. The story is just insane, mechanics and the ways you play are just faboulous. I give it a 10/10. I do hoped for a bit better graghics for a 2020 game, but still it’s great.

    Campaign was much better than I anticipated. Coming from the beta I wasn’t expecting them to deliver as well as they did. They nailed the gameplay feel and personality of the characters. With a super generous dlc model I can’t wait to see where they take the game.

    This rating is based on the campaign of the game. The story of the game was quite impressive. Each character has their own struggle and depth. The level designs were cool and unique for each character. The combat was cool and fun to play. The acting performance was top notch. The only thing that couldve been better was the animations as they were simple.

    It could’ve been a great single player title. The publisher chose to go down the game as a service path though, and those who prefer to play solo need to tackle run-of-the-mill co-op missions. The multiplayer on the other hand is messy, chaotic and in the long run boring. When the developers manage to fix the most pressing bugs and find a way to bring more variety to co-op, this might become a solid game. Right now, I can only recommend it to the biggest fans of the Avengers. [11/2020, p.26]

    This is the perfect example of "Games as a Service" done right. Marvel's Avengers offers up a superb campaign story to play through that is promised to be expanded on in the future. The gameplay may be repetitive, but it includes just enough to keep players interested and invested in the endgame content that is available now to keep this game going until the next step in its roadmap. The possibilities and potential in the future here are hugely exciting.

    There have been plenty of moments during my time with Marvel's Avengers where I’ve genuinely had a great time. But this game keeps finding ways to drag itself down- at times it almost feels like it goes out of its way to do so. There’s just so much here that I can’t overlook, no matter how hard I may try. An unnecessary and broken loot system, a litany of horrible technical issues, uninspired and one-note mission design, and a story that fails just as much as it succeeds- it doesn’t matter how mindlessly fun the combat is, it isn't enough to overcome such a heavy list of problems.
