    An amazing remake of this classic, stunning graphics, good gameplay, the best in Mafia franchise until now, awesome soundtrack, they improved a lot of things, the history and characters are much better and likeable, the only bad things are the remotion of trains in city, and the phisics are ridiculous somethimes, but hangar 13 made and amazing jov recreating this wonderfull game

    The original Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven is an absolute classic. Just like many players I was skeptical whether Hangar 13 would make a worthy remake, or that the game would be a sub-par cash grab. I am happy to say that they succeeded, by making subtle changes to the story, thus making it even better in my opinion, and by making the gameplay more modern. My only real problem is thatThe original Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven is an absolute classic. Just like many players I was skeptical whether Hangar 13 would make a worthy remake, or that the game would be a sub-par cash grab. I am happy to say that they succeeded, by making subtle changes to the story, thus making it even better in my opinion, and by making the gameplay more modern. My only real problem is that sometimes enemies don't get staggered when you shoot them, leading to cheap deaths on classic difficulty. The visuals are stunning, the music is even better than it was in the original, and the voice acting is great.
    If you are hesitant about your purchase (why else would anyone read metacritic user reviews, aside from being dreadfully bored or masochistic), and you like good stories, buy the game. You won't regret it.    … Expand

    The gameplay is somewhat clunky at times.
    Had a few bugs.
    But nonetheless the story is amazing, absolute improvement of the classic.
    Overall a great experience.
    GIVE IT A TRY, YOU WONT REGRET IT

    This is a really fun game that does a good job of taking you back to a style of game from the PS2 era which of course it is a remake of a popular PS2 game. Great graphics with an interesting story. Controls feel good and gunplay feels smooth. A few bugs at release but will probably be patched.

    Haven't played the original, but I have played through roughly 50% of the game and I am having fun. Graphics looks good, the story and presentation of it actually really good. Gameplay however feels a little clunky at times both while driving and shooting. But overall a good game.

    It's alright, not amazing though. Everyone overhyped this game to me and I'm underwhelmed to say the least. It's your run of the mill 3rd person shooter. It also doesn't run too well on PS4.

    I am being completely honest when I say that I thought Mafia: Definitive Edition was gonna be a huge disappointment just like TLOU Part II... I was wrong.

    People will state "the original voice actors were better" or "Why didn't they bring in the old English voice actors". The problem? The new actors absolutely put on a brilliant performance for their respective roles. The original Mafia    I am being completely honest when I say that I thought Mafia: Definitive Edition was gonna be a huge disappointment just like TLOU Part II... I was wrong.

    People will state "the original voice actors were better" or "Why didn't they bring in the old English voice actors". The problem? The new actors absolutely put on a brilliant performance for their respective roles. The original Mafia (the English dub) had no emotion, no passion from characters. All of whom for the most part sounded like robots. Hangar 13 did so well in regards to fixing that. Add in the breath taking cutscenes, a beautiful soundtrack, a wonderful world to explore... I could go on.

    The only problems I had with this game was the reuse of Mafia 3 animations i.e. Tommy plays and moves like Lincoln Clay so the gunfights are meh at times but I'd rather that than the original Mafia gun play. 2 cutscenes did not play audio which irritated me along with a bit of lighting issues in certain cutscenes.

    Overall, I am quite amazed that Hangar 13 gave us the pleasure of playing a new re-imagined classic. While not totally perfect, this game has a few minors flaws in which case had they not been present, Mafia Definitive Edition would be a solid 10/10.    … Expand

    I never played the original, but figured what the hell, I'll pass the quarantine time with this. And it looks pretty good! Voice acting is solid as well, and even the driving feels okay (you can skip the drives though, after a time it indeed becomes boring). It looks way better then LA Noire for PS4 (ok, that admittedly is not a full remake). I didn't finish the story yet (75% through in aI never played the original, but figured what the hell, I'll pass the quarantine time with this. And it looks pretty good!     Haven't played the original but I really enjoyed the story but that's about the only good thing about this game. The graphics look partially decent but sometimes especially the lighting looks terrible. The controls kinda suck and overall it could've taken a lot more polish. The missions are very bland and repetitive which is due to the age of the original. Overall, an okay remake, great story.

    I was really looking forward to the remake. I believed in him to the last, but he didn't live up to my expectations. Yes, the graphics are better, but otherwise it's something terrible. I got used to changing the music, gameplay features, and many other things, but the ending. You shouldn't have done that. In the original, I was crying at the very end. The remake did not cause any emotions. This is a failure. No one could ruin the game like that.

    The game manages to bring back the great atmosphere and superb story of the original, while adding upon it with better gameplay and graphics. And although there are some clipping errors here and there and the graphics and characters can look stiff from time to time it's still a great experience!

I must have replayed Mafia dozens of times because of the hardware improvements, and it always looked great - even better on a ViewSonic CRT I upgraded to,

    I digress.

    This updated release pays a very close homage to the original, and though it doesn't have the exact feel of the old game (the radio music is sorely missed) - it does a near perfect job of bringing the old legend back into the current time.     A great game, the remake of mafia 1 is definitely one to remember. I remember playing mafia 1 back in the days, at that time the game was a gem. But this version of mafia 1 brings a new dimension to the game series, I feel like hangar 13 learn from their mistake in mafia 3 (even if the mafia 3 is still a decent game). The game is gorgeous, the city of Lost Heaven is perfect, switchingA great game, the remake of mafia 1 is definitely one to remember. I remember playing mafia 1 back in the days, at that time the game was a gem. But this version of mafia 1 brings a new dimension to the game series, I feel like hangar 13 learn from their mistake in mafia 3 (even if the mafia 3 is still a decent game). The game is gorgeous, the city of Lost Heaven is perfect, switching between the countryside and downtown. The storytelling is loyal to the original mafia 1 but with more depth and more cinematic features.

    As a fan of the mafia trilogy this remake is a breath of fresh air after the **** show that was mafia three. The game is tightly paced makes you definitely feel like you want more from the world. Ties into mafia two absolutely beautifully as the ending roles making you feel absolutely conflicted about the protagonists of the second game.     I played the original. Graphical Upgrades are nice and overall satisfying. gameplay & mechanics not at all unfortunately. It’s ok but it definitely feels like it could have been much better. Do not recommend.

    A solid remake. Hangar 13 has finally redeemed themselves after the failure of Mafia 3. This game is pretty much good enough for old and new people to get into the franchise. Everything ranging from shooting and driving is pretty fun and challenging. Definitely recommend checking it out.

    This is my first time playing this series and im so happy I started with this game. Amazing, on the edge of your seat action and story. The graphics are good and the cars are beautiful!.. Only issue was clunky gun play and some glitches but nothing to serious and the over use of the same face for the NPC'S.

    an incredible graphics and story but unfortunately the level design and the gameplay is terrible . other than that the soundtrack is great . and it really captures the atmosphere of the 1930s really well . but the most important factor of any game is missing as i said when you don't have good gameplay the game is going suffer from it.

    Mafia Definitive Edition is not just a change of graphics, it is a change of the whole game, some features are borrowed from Mafia 3, some characters are changed, but mafia remains mafia. Of course, some flaws flowed into the Definitive Edition, but they are so invisible that they do not affect the gameplay in any way.

    Am I the only how’s already making a walkthrough for the third time in row? This is a masterpiece! The best game ever about automobiles! The driving in story was not enough for me, the devs could keep the additional Luca Bertone car missions and some more from A to B rides.

    As any game in the current industry and in 100% cases for remakes, this is a squished simplified trash , cause there was no people who worked on this to make game great. I bet nobody in the studio played the original game. Mario is harder and more interesting game than this. Guess why , cause people who made it ,cared about it, This remake era we are currently in kills the industry.

    Take notes every developer out there, this is how a remake SHOULD BE! They worked so hard and truly did remake Mafia from the ground up. It is truly one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever played. Definitely in the top 5 when it comes to graphics. Story is also amazing.

    i played the game on a PS4 the story is good the game play is bad. The story still as the same impact of the original but the game play was terrible their was nothing in the open world for the massive map they had build but the graphical upgrade is stunning and was beautiful from the sun light hitting the side of cars and the puddles on the floor and the mo cap they did. The gun play felt like it was ripped out of mafia 3 the time to kill seemed too high like when you were using the Tommy gun you had to load 10 rounds into on person and they didn't flinch so they would just stand still and shoot back. The bold action rifle at a zoom in glitched were it would freeze before zooming in the only guns that felt like they had an impact were the rollovers and the shotguns. in some of the cut scene their were a lot of frame tearing. The game is just drive shoot cut scene drive shoot cut scene repeat.… Expand

I personally was not as invested in the story, nor did I really care about any of the characters because every chapter just felt like a dramatically thrown together plot without real accurate flavor of a mafioso. There could have been some depth to the rise of the main character, events that take place where the gamer sees his rank rising through the years, the day he was made, his wedding, a bond with his daughter who we never even see yet plays such a vital role in his life. I don't know if adding some side activities could have added some more depth to the story of the main character or not, but there was just so much missing that I wish was in the game.

    Maybe someday we will get a real amazing Mafia game where you actually go through the ranks of the mob and there is far more substance to the history most of us know and find fascinating about organized crime and the mafia in America. Maybe some actual rackets we can manage, a currency system, day to day operations that we can control and make choices upon to continue the story arch perhaps in two or three different ways that branch along toward alternate endings.

    7 out of 10 but only because I am fan of this franchise. It's probably really a 6 out of 10    … Expand

Им удалось почти полностью показать нам город, хоть и в некоторых моментах он был изменён.     Masterpiece. Great story, characters and graphics. The remaster is really well made, not like Mafia 2, only 2-3 glitches and one blue screen for 10 hours.

    This is a very good remake to retell the story of the original game. the graphic is good. However, I am kind of disappointed that they did not make this game a open world game as it wasted the beautiful city of lost heaven they rebuilt.

    It’s amazing game. Must for any mafia 1 fan and every fan of good games.

    Only thing I didn’t like is some dumbed down things for more casual players and the fact extreme ride only has 5 cars in comparison to 19 in original.

    Thank you Hangar 13 for this faithful remake of one of the best games ever! It was very emotional to experience again this story and I liked the new direction, cutscenes, acting and dialog a lot. I want to keep it short so for all the newcomers and people who actually read this reviews, please note the following:

    1. Graphics - Amazing. I could not believe that this runs on my PS4. It    Thank you Hangar 13 for this faithful remake of one of the best games ever! It was very emotional to experience again this story and I liked the new direction, cutscenes, acting and dialog a lot. I want to keep it short so for all the newcomers and people who actually read this reviews, please note the following:

    1. Graphics - Amazing. I could not believe that this runs on my PS4. It looks a lot closer to a next-gen game than a current one. Apart of some screen tearing and framerate drops at times the graphics are flawless.

    2. Sound and cutscenes - Absolutely astonishing. From music to radios, from voice acting to motion capturing - absolutely beautiful!

    3. Gameplay - Faithful to the original. I played on Classic mode. The race was brutally difficult and some firefights were a big challenge. For Mafia 4 you just have to figure out the balance between open world and story like this. Shooting and some movement animations could be made better. Driving is perfect on simulation mode.

    Overall this game is a solid 8 out of 10. However, everybody seems to forget that it is not a full price game and at 40$ it is most defiantly a 9 out of 10. I missed some of the old writing in the ending though! Hope this game sells well and you guys make Mafia 4 - more like this than Mafia 3.    … Expand

    This game is simply broken and unplayable. Race mission is unpassable and unskippable. So it is not a game, but a ton of bad substabce.

    I absolutely loved this game. The story is so gripping and enjoyable from start to finish I genuinely felt for the characters around me and I'm not going to lie I definitely miss them already now that I've completed the game. Hanger 13 please make a Mafia 4 but please spend all the time needed to make it amazing

    Получилось хорошо, но не идеально. Не критичные баги и приятная картинка. Не очень доволен новыми характерами персонажей и их мотивацией, но играется отлично. Определенно стоит своих денег, атмосфера шикарная.

    Amazing simply Amazing what a beautiful and heartbreaking experience truly one of the best mafia stories ever told. The game has a few bugs and glitchs, needs more polish hopefully everything will get patched soon. Thank you to the original team who made mafia and thank you hanger 13 for remaking mafia

    Hangar 13's redemption arc!

    While it's not a perfect game, I fully believe that it should be praised and encouraged for daring to stick so close to the original formula while also streamlining the experience.

    16 часов неспешного прохождения на сложности "классик" и всё, конец. Это даже меньше, чем в каких-нибудь посредственных платформерах. А как вы думаете почему так мало? Потому что вместо добавления миссий, разнообразия геймплея, рукo|||oпы из Ангара решили просто вырезать целые куски сюжета, перемолоть и свалить его остатки в кучу.
    Сложные миссии превратились просто в добанутые (гонки, склад с Морелло).

    Томми теперь не обычный таксист, который колеблется в своих решениях, а он простой гопарь, который хочет крови и легких денег. Как в принципе Поли и Сэм, дела которых оставались в тени, а сейчас их показали мерзкими тварями, которые по приказу Дона отнимут последние деньги у любого человека или же отнимут его жизнь.
    Возможно подобный подход неплох, он лишает романтического образа, той самой Мафии 2002, показывая истинное лицо этой преступной ячейки.
    Но в плане сюжета это ставит крест на сочувствии любому из героев.

    Так забавляют петушки, которые разводили своё ко-ко-ко, говоря, что Мафия 3 это помойка, а сейчас эти же люди кукарекают какой шедевр выдали Ангар 13. Какие же грёбанные лицемеры.

    Короче, не буду дальше бомбить, касаемо игры - это дно! Не покупайте это даже на распродажах. Цена этому "шедевру" 2 бакса.

    P.S. кстати, если в оригинале было название Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven и город по суди был одним из главных персонажей. Именно по этому все миссии были прописаны так, что ты хорошо помнил каждый район. То здесь город вообще никакой. Разрабам было лень делать метро и трамваи, ничем из этого вы не можете воспользоваться. На заправке нет людей. А от Луки Бертоне, вы получите 5 фоток с автомобилями и пожеланием самим их найти. Во всём чувствуется экономия и мерзкая меркантильность.    … Expand

    I dont play the original, but the remake is awersome, nice animations, graphics looks great, cars of 30s, Story is amazing. Hope for more remakes like this or RE2. Thanks to the devs.

    I play Mafia for first time. The story is amazing. But the Gameplay is the same like in Mafia 3 (the worst game ever what i play). So I rate it for 9/10.

Everyone in my class play this game, it was phenomenal at 2002. I like how this game was re-created. Cutscenes looks great.     I played original game in 2002 as a kid and i expected this is gonna be fail but they surprised me with very solid work, it honors its original and some changes even brings more sense into the story. They didnt touch the structure where you focus on the story only and thats awesome, no question marks and other crap on the map. But Hanger 13 have shocked and wowed me, the game is outstanding, the graphics are sharp, detailed and beautiful, the audio effects in the game are mesmerising, the cars drive and toot just like the real ones, hearing the gears change and the engine struggle to climb a slopeAfter Mafia 3, I was nervous about the outcome of this game, hoping and praying that they don’t ruin a great game. But Hanger 13 have shocked and wowed me, the game is outstanding, the graphics are sharp, detailed and beautiful, the audio effects in the game are mesmerising, the cars drive and toot just like the real ones, hearing the gears change and the engine struggle to climb a slope is just music to my ears. The radio stations are very well written and created, listing to a live baseball broadcast while on my way to a hit really brings out what life might have been like in the mob during the 1930s. The gameplay is smooth and works well, a big improvement from mafia 3, cover system and the weapons work very well and classic difficulty not only adds plenty of challenges but also adds a unique feel that is only found in mafia. The game is a fantastic remake of the original 2002 classic, probably the best remake ever, absolutely outstanding game and hanger 13 should be proud of their efforts. Highly recommended to pick this game up as soon as you can, and step back into the shoes of Tommy Angelo and relive his story.… Expand

    Stunning graphics, epic story, but unfortunately the gameplay is exactly the same as in Mafia 3 - horrible. This game had such a potential, however Hangar 13 just did not even try to improve the gameplay for which Mafia 3 was criticised.

    It's good. Not a masterpiece, not 100% better than original, but its good enough. As a fan of the original Mafia — Im happy with this release. Money well spent.

    What an incredible game. Even though it has some minor bugs and issues its still incredible. Story is the best in any video game in my opinion. Original is my favourite game of all time and i am happy that they did not dissapoint.

    A great Remake that honors the original. Hangar 13 proved they can deliver quality. Great gameplay, Sound and graphics. I even had fun with the race Mission.
