    Mafia: Definitive Edition is very much a time capsule of how games were like in the early 2000's. Despite it's 'improved' graphics and writing, most of it's gameplay elements feel grating at best. Some of the voice acting is good, but most of the accents on display are cringe inducing at best, especially the main protagonist who sounds like a heavy smoker with a sore throat who is inMafia: Definitive Edition is very much a time capsule of how games were like in the early 2000's. Despite it's 'improved' graphics and writing, most of it's gameplay elements feel grating at best. Some of the voice acting is good, but most of the accents on display are cringe inducing at best, especially the main protagonist who sounds like a heavy smoker with a sore throat who is in desperate need of a glass of water.

    Gun combat feels positively archaic and floaty, with weapon reticules the size of beachballs that make landing a headshot either highly difficult or a skill within itself. Melee combat tries to emulate modern melee systems, but comes across as janky, relying on button mashing instead of precise timing.

    Even though there is a large 'open' world available, Mafia: DE's campaign spirits you from one mission to the next with no freedom to explore at your own leisure in between objectives. However, the truth is Mafia's city is devoid of any activities to partake in, feeling more like a movie set filled with extras and cardboard cut-out buildings.

    Story-wise, the game feels obtuse and cliche. Unfortunately I couldn't progress beyond the halfway point of the campaign due to game design issues (the infamous turret section with the armoured truck). By this point, I was tired with the game because of how limiting and arduous everything within it felt.

    For future reference, games that are remade for the modern era should have a balance of contemporary game systems that seamlessly align with recognisable elements from the original. This way the game feels both fresh and familiar whilst retaining the most important thing of all: Being fun.    … Expand

    This is a good remake, but with some technical flaws. But I hope they take this base, improve the engine a bit and then build up a new game in the same era from there, this has potential!

    есть отражения заданий и объектов на капоте или луже.     In general, I believe that the developers of M-DE wanted to release a sequel to MAFIA III but realizing that they can not compete with the same Rockstar, the plot will not pull.     I sincerely expected that we will be given a deeper plot with a lot of secondary and side missions to create a non-linear, non-tunnel passage, a big city in full access to everything. Instead, we were given a company for half a day, with notes on each location that seemed to bring the atmosphere.

    rereading, I again looked at the video and screenshots of the game in the store and realized that it is a complete deception and divorce ... the game doesn't look the way it's presented at all. We've been cut.    … Expand

    The justification that the world is empty because the original was empty aswell is just total **** Sorry but a remake means that you change things for the better. It doesn’t mean that you literally copy every Aspekt of the original. There should have been clothing stores, side activists, train/tram for players in access, money etc. Free roam is empty as **** It’s so empty it makes you wonder why they even bothered.

    Not enough content in this game it’s so boring. The secret missions are pretty fun, shooting down the aliens and ufo is pretty trippy but apart from them 3 secret missions there’s nothing to do after the game. Even mafia 3 had more content than this.

    If you want to be very disappointed and play a linear fleeting story and in free mode to chase UFO in a dead ghost town - I think it is better to play the original and put on it an improved graphic mod to improve the graphics, which is available on the websites of the game Mafia-2002.

With hope the entertainment freemode has included a walk of the 2020 edition as I saw in the trailers advertising this and what I see?!!     the original game had charm, and they even removed some of the (to me) most memorable quotes from the game.
    including "you lucky bastard" & "you didn't kill frank!" In the 2020 version, not only did they not add something new to the freeride, but on the contrary cut out trains with trams from it for use. the    Hi Mafioso. Basically a remake in it's most basic primitive lackluster form.

All you can do are simply shooting and driving. can't buy your own gun, can't upgrade cars, can't use tram and trains, don't have any cash, can't buy a meal, can't get a drink, can't do anything!     Unfortunately just like mafia 2, the mafia remake is underrated again, with it's amazing story, very good graphics and by doing a great job at recreating lost heaven, mafia definitive edition is one of the best games released in 2020 and deserves a much higher score I really enjoyed it but it's a pity that hangar 13 lost a great opportunity to make the game more open world and add moreUnfortunately just like mafia 2, the mafia remake is underrated again, with it's amazing story, very good graphics and by doing a great job at recreating lost heaven, mafia definitive edition is one of the best games released in 2020 and deserves a much higher score I really enjoyed it but it's a pity that hangar 13 lost a great opportunity to make the game more open world and add more adventures and activities unlike some previous games, you can't buy cloths, do side missions, buy guns and or do mini games.

    Loved the game. It has a great story. It's not an open world game as we know them today as it's realesed quiet a while back, so I think the amount of content is ok (it's unfair to compare it with e.g. an Ubisoft open world). It's a game with a big focus on the story and that story is damn good!

    I really had high hopes for this but was mildly disappointed. I was hoping for better controls, better and added content to bring it up to 2020 standard. A complete overhaul.
    But this is just a polished work of the original.
    also it has been many years since i played the original, but i felt some things missing and left out.

    I really hope there will be a good mafia game made someday for modern gameplay.

    Big movie scenes and not a sharpened game as fast work and not an accurate sketch from the original, where you can see the transience of the flying story as quickly and easily as possible to make it and release the game for release.
    Kinda sad that the original no did let you on the trolleys and trains they decided to not make it realistic and detailed by not getting on trains.     Honestly I don't get why a remake after 18 years ago should remove so many features who were a big content in the original one. What's the point of it ? Looking at locked station doors makes me want to throw the game away.
    it's 2020 for christ's sake and a 2002 video game lets you take the train and this one not. That is absolutely preposterous and a display of neglect for this beautiful remake and a photo mode is also required. I have spoken.

    Free travel "free-fide" - Nothing and everything is closed and even trains with trams are unavailable in the city for the game, All metro stations are locked in horror!?? there is nothing at all in the game and it is called complete **** from hangar/2k

The only problem is that theres nothing really to do in it. The most you get from free roaming is a basic cop shootout that gets boring after 10 minutes. The combat is pretty gun though.     Amazing gameplay and story. The voice acting and script was so emotional and was much better than the Mafia (2002). But still nothing to do at all in the freemode beside going around town and collecting posters. As a long-time fan, overall it is a great game

    Hell was going this story where I couldn't go somewhere in the city to walk and see. The plot is surprisingly fast and circumcised from the original, which upset me. Included a walk mode that would run around the city and ride on the tram and aboveground subway ... Hell would have taken this game that I'm not allowed into this transport for, well, what the hell!?

I never played the original but now I know I missed out big time! The story had me hooked from the beginning watching a cab driver make his way up the ranks to his downfall and watching as his “Family” falls apart. The only problem I had with this game overall was the driving and gun play, it feels like they took both from Mafia 3 which I wasn’t a big fan of, but I did start to grow on it towards the end. If you are looking for a good crime tale definitely give this one a chance!… Expand

    Боёвка перекочевала прямо из третьей части. И это очень хорошо.
    А вот сюжет в отличии от той же третьей части, откровенно порадовал. Не знаю как было в оригинале, но сюжет целостный интересный и плавно перетекающий во вторую часть. Конечно о прям жизненной реальности речи не идет (протагонисту в конце дали, по моему, всего лет восемь, при том, что он собственноручно пристрелил полторы тысячи человек, включая человек 100 копов!), но тем не менее.
    И так, советую. Советую всем. Прохождение тем кто играл в оригинал подарит кучу ностальгии, ну и сравнить с чем будет. Кто же не проходил раньше, как я, советую. Получите отличную историю за разумные деньги.    … Expand

    In our years, they do not make high-quality games, only in 2002 the original version remains cult to this day. This Mafia Definitive Edition game has nothing more than a simplified scenario. For what an open walk, there the city is only a picture and nothing more.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Mafia “Definitive Edition” is a very good remaster of the first mafia that I’ve played on pc ages ago, the only negative thing that I’ve found is that the story mode is a bit too short!
    As an Italian, the dubbing is great..you can clearly hear the Sicilian accent and the swearing made me laugh a lot XD. Classic difficulty isn’t even that hard, except for a couple of mission, ie when you have to win that race or where you have to save your mate in the farm.

    Ever since it's release, fans have been begging for more content in Mafia Definitive Edition. There are three things we most desperately want. Firstly, we'd love a DLC, with well-loved characters from the game. Extra gameplay and missions which tell the largely untold stories of how Sam and Paulie came to be in the family or the beginnings of the war between Morello and Salieri areEver since it's release, fans have been begging for more content in Mafia Definitive Edition. There are three things we most desperately want. Firstly, we'd love a DLC, with well-loved characters from the game. Extra gameplay and missions which tell the largely untold stories of how Sam and Paulie came to be in the family or the beginnings of the war between Morello and Salieri are desperately wanted. As fans, we want to see more from these characters that are even more incredibly interesting and complex thanks to the improved story and script. It would be even better to see the actors of the main characters in the DE return to continue their roles in a DLC, including the likes of Andrew Bongiorno (Tommy), Glenn Taranto (Don Salieri), Don DiPetta (Sam), Jeremy Luke (Paulie), Steven Oliver (Frank), Bella Popa (Sarah) etc.

    Secondly, Photo Mode is a desperate want. The game is beautiful and many of the missions allow for incredible views, unique locations and incredible effects for photos. This mode will allow players to take the photos they desperately want in a game that calls for it because of its beauty. It will also open up more space for community creation, as fans will be able to share what they produce, keeping the game interesting and exciting.

    Furthermore, the fans would love to see more content and additional gameplay for Free Ride. These could include being able to use more transportation (trains, trams) and open more spaces for exploration that were used in the game like the prison, different character's homes, the airport, the race track just to name a few. Additions of clothing stores and other interactable shops/business would be welcome too. In terms of gameplay, the fans would love to be able to battle against other gangs in this mode that can be initiated by the player or in new side missions. These could include taking over a gang hideout, stopping booze/merchandise runs, infiltrating businesses etc Characters like Vincenzo and Lucas Bertone could give players missions to do.

    This game has always been loved ever since the original came out in 2002. Now that the game has been released again, fully remade with beautiful graphics, a perfected story and script, amazingly talented cast of actors and updated gameplay, we want to see more added so that we can enjoy it even more.

    Le jeu gratuit n'a pas de sens, vide et tout est fermé au joueur, les trains, les tramways, les magasins et le système d'économies d'argent sont condamnés dans ce monde.

Except for a short cut in pieces, in all parts of the ruler there is nothing in the game. This whole city is banned from access to communication. It's a **** 2020 game, I fell off my chair...

The city is not available for play anywhere, a tram with a train will not let me in (were in the original game trains) there is no weapons store, there is no money component of the game.

It's everything I could have imagined a remake of this game would be, except for two things. For one, the performance and "feel" of the game caught me off guard. It feels dated and clunky. I expected it to be more open world, but you're literally just playing a linear storyline straight through. You have to choose Free Roam from the main menu. It's not like there are any buildings to enter or side missions to do, so I get that. The game screams 1930's as you play, with all the cars, fashion, language, music, etc. That's what makes this title unique. The Godfather-esque story isn't too shabby either. Overall, it's almost a great game, but it just misses that mark. It's still very much worth a play though.… Expand

    Definitive Edition it certainly did bring back some memories of the old game, the story, graphics, characters were all enhanced, but it all boiled down to a typical nasty new age game design. I would say that if they stayed loyal to the old game formula and just made it look and play better, it would be a masterpiece of a remake and a game, but instead, it turned out to be just another **** .    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finally, the remake of the original Mafia is here. A game I have been waited for in over a decade. Now before I begin to talk about the much anticipated remake. Normally i would not give the score 10 if the game is not a 10. And as a standalone game it is not a 10. It is probably is an 8 or lower. But this story is quite special to me, which I will mention in the last parts of this review. Unfortunately there are some negatives I have to mention.
    The remake uses the engine from Mafia 3. It fits Mafia 3 but not this Remake, but I actually think the gameplay in the remake is worse. Enemies needs to be shot 4 or 5 times to be killed, and when you shoot them, they just stay and keep shooting towards you like nothing have happened. The wounds on the dead bodies are also quite ugly and don’t fit. Also when you are in melee combat, when knocking somebody out, blood is surrounding the bodies, just like if you had shot them. That is an annoying detail. However the blood looks realistic, it is just annoying when used incorrect. So the weakest part of the game is the gun battle.
    The loading screens when you die are really painful, especially if you die quickly multiple times in a row. That means you watch more loading screens than playing the game.
    The last negative thing I want to mention, which I don’t know if it’s a negative, is the characters new personalities. I am split on this one. Because I think the voices in the original game fits the characters more, than the new ones. Example is Sam. In the original he sounded like a loyal and made man. Now he is more like a boy trying to prove himself. The same with Paulie, in the original he sounded more brutal and serious. Now he is more of a laughing stock that nobody likes. But I think the more I progressed the game, I found the new personalities acceptable. Including Tommy, who was the most serious and brutal character in the beginning of the game, which he wasn’t in the original. I think it is because of his voice actor. It is similar to Paulie’s voice actor in the original where he was brutal and serious. But in the end Tommy stood to me as a caring husband and father.
    One thing that made me love the new remake was the locations taking place in the missions. I know them all from the original, but now they are all updated and made different, which also make the game quite unpredictable.
    Speaking of new things/changes in the remake, there is a lot of interesting ones. From here on out there are spoilers.
    One thing is the updated locations, but the story is also updated with some twists. There are 3 examples where the story either has changed or teases you.
    When Tommy gets tasked to kill Michelle, it is Tommy’s decision to not kill her in the original. In the remake it is Sam who begs you not to do it. This is the first twist in the remake, which made me think if the ending also changed (In the original it is a theme that Tommy can’t kill his allies). Also this moment made Sam look different as written before about the personalities.
    When Tommy, Paulie and Sam get tasked to pick up cigar crates, Tommy questions the priority of picking up these crates. It sounds too easy. In the original it is only acknowledge the crates contains cigars. Afterwards the crew found out these crates also contains diamonds. Salieri didn’t tell them. However in the remake the game teases you, because Salieri now tell the crates also contains the diamonds. Here I was quite excited how the game now should develop because it changed the original narrative.
    And then there is the dialogue between Tommy and Sarah in the last mission. Tommy is nervous because he is about to go visit Paulie. I don’t know if it was intended by the developers, but I was nervous too, because I knew what will happen when opening Paulies door. The dialogue of course teasing what was about to happen.
    To sum this up, I know there is a lot of talk about different things. I know reading this review doesn’t sound like a 10. For the most part I have focused on the negative things. But the mafia series means a lot me. The original Mafia game means a lot to me. I played it as a kid, and it was THE game that introduced me to how games tell a great story. So I have seen the game a lot of times including the ending, and when this remake ending happened, this is real, I cried, I really cried. It just hit me. I found the whole story and characters fresh when the ending came which also had some new emotional epilogue scenes. And then it topped with the lyrics in the credits “Everybody wants to go to heaven”.
    I am sorry this review had a lot of negative instead of focusing on the good things, like driving, the graphics, music, and of course a fresh feel about the game. But my love for this story really is the focus on my score. It is a story that has followed me for years, and I am really grateful to experience this story again remade, and when a game makes you emotional like this, it deserves a 10    … Expand

    An awesome experience. Don´t look for an open world game or an RPG, this game is mostly linear and short, but the story is amazing and has some of the best characters I´ve seen in a game. It has a few bugs here and ther but nothing to worry too much about. The gunplay it´s ok and the missions are fun altough sometimes a bit uninspired, but overall it was an outstanding game.

    The game isnt so bad, the game has a decent quality about it, i like how the cars handle how they should for the 30's.

    But that being said the driving gets annoying when trying to escape from or chase somebody. The worst part for me though is the story actually isnt that great its pretty generic and very predictable, it feels a little dragged on. А вышла игра — изумительной. Разработчики очень бережно доработали все неровности сценария, воссоздали невероятно харизматичных глубоких персонажей, которым так же сопереживаешь, как низкополигональным моделькам из оригинала. Классно доработаны миссии и конечно же сам гемплей.

    Дизайн города, машин, персонажей — восторг! Конечно же на старенькой плойке все это поджали в угоду оптимизации, но это никак не мешает восприятию. На мой взгляд, слабое место этой игры — стрельба. Возможно стрелять с геймпада не так комфортно как с мыши, но в целом перестрелки ощущаются как-то "картонно". Пожалуй это единственный минус, но камон, а в оригинале разве было как-то по другому (вспомнить нереальную отдачу Томми, если зажать из него спрей).

    Думаю, что игра понравится каждому в той или иной степени и попробовать ее должен каждый.    … Expand

    Really nice remake, shows respect to the original source. The story is amazing as expected, the gameplay is fun and the driving is reaaaaally good. There are a few bugs but none of them are major problems.

    Sometimes very beautiful, sometimes ugly. The environments and lights on vehicles could be very clean but faces and characters are too statics. The main problem of this game is the gameplay, because the character is too rigid and the gunfight are not very fun. The game doesn’t encourage to do secondary quests, because they are not proposed to the player during all the main quest.

The shooting and cover mechanics are again very outdated, every gunfight is clunky, the enemy AI is awful and I also experienced critical bugs more than 1 month after release. I tried to reload a checkpoint in mission 4 and I got pushed back 2 checkpoints, and the police was giving me a fine. After that I couldn't move. I had to delete save files manually in order to be able to continue. Some other time in the same mission I had to enter a motel to save a guy. As soon as I was out of stealth I started taking damage over time out of nowhere and I just died. The infamous banana race is still there and it is as bad as it ever was. I did it in the original game but I don't feel like spending one afternoon to keep trying until I get lucky. I don't know why they had to make it just as frustrating again (at least now you have to race only 3 laps and from what I remember in the original game you had to race 6 laps). If Mafia was your favourite game and you can overlook all the bugs and clunky stuff you can buy it but you just make sure you don't expect anything better than the original game (excepting the graphics).… Expand

    A good game, with an interesting story, most of all I liked that the story goes continuously, Chapter by Chapter, no additional tasks(many games I threw because of the fact that I constantly did additional tasks, although maybe this is just my problem).

Now I know *Rahjee, Mafia originally came out in 2001, so of course it's going to be better in almost anyway* Yeah but there was a Remake from earlier this year that didn't to well and it was originally made in the 90's. So yeah not everything improves apart it's predecessor. In Mafia Definitive Edition you play as Tommy Angelo who starts off as just a Cabbie who rises through the Italian Mafia under Salieri becoming one of the most respected and feared gangsters in Lost Haven through the years of prohibition and the great depression facing off against the Morello crime Family. But when things goes south he turns to the Authorities to help him out of life or death situation to put the Don of his crew behind bars. There's really nothing to hate about the storyline. It's a mid paced, action packed adventure, that keeps you wanting more. From the presentation until the end it makes you feel nostalgic and engaged. The characters Salieri, Morello, Sam, Paulie, Frank and Sarah feel a lot more life like due to the voice acting, facial motion capture and remade visuals. The main character Tommy is more than just some mob character. Sure he's loyal to the family and he's a bad ass. But he's caring, respectful and is willing to do anything to protect his loved ones even if means putting himself in some serious **** **** As for missions I'm glad to see as far as I know they didn't cut anything (To my knowledge and added a few quite addition to each mission. Unlike what we seen from the massive disappointment from Mafia III. The Missions here have more variation. Every mission From Racing to going to a hotel to end someone with a hit or their head to sniping a Politian from an abandon prison there's always something different. The over all world Lost Haven is beautiful and feels refreshing to drive around. Although the world and free roaming doesn't feel completely dynamic, it's nice to see that citizens do simple things like keep up with current events. However it feels pretty dead at times. Another thing I wish they did would be to implement a few new features while free roaming. You have this beautifully crafted open world but there's not much to do but find cars and posters in free drive. Like seriously, they should make free roaming like Mafia 2. I understand that the original game didn't have this, but come on it's 2020. Add stores, side missions, activities, past times. I know this ain't GTA but damn make 2k Games make your open world worth exploring so people want to come back. The gameplay style and in game mechanics kind of plays like Mafia III. There are few differences between Tommy and Lincoln. Instead of moving, shooting and fighting like a Military Veteran that Lincoln is. Tommy is more of a street brawler. Although the shooting is sort of on point (although better than the original I felt that could've scrapped the gunplay they used Mafia III). The hand to hand combat system feels pretty average and although the button sequence can be used to pull of a lethal finishing move or dodge it sometimes feels pretty wonky. For driving you're giving two options Normal and simulation. Normal gives you an easier feeling of the cars. Although it's not too real they're still older cars so they can be pretty heavy and getting away can be challenging . If you're not a good at driving in games go for normal, because simulation mode might not be for you. Cars are heavier, crashes hit harder and turning is a lot more tight. And if your skills aren't up there and you choose it during the race well let's just say you're not going have a good time. The enemy AI is kind of **** To try to get you out of cover all they try to do is flank you then move towards and in chases they sometimes spawn out no where making it nightmare to get way. Mafia Definitive Edition came is an good remake and it's a must have. So I'm rating it an 8/10. My main problems were It's generic combat system, dated AI and lack of content.     1.Enormous input lag and large deadzone of the analog stick. The lag between the controller and the character on screen is truly appalling for a console game in 2020, making it impossible to aim. You would think its because of vertical sync that usually is the issue, but the game has awful screen-tearing as well so what causes this lag is beyond me. Fix your engine, Hangar 13

    2. Framedrops everywhere when doing simple tasks like: aiming a long distance rifle, or scoping in, enabling mirror view in the car (try spamming it and the fps of the game tanks).

    3. Awful hit detection. Most of the time enemies just dont get hit because there is an invisible piece of the wall on above or on the side their cover.

    4. The classic difficulty is not “classic”. Its unreasonably hard and artificial. Completed the game on Classic difficulty and its not challenging, just rage-inducing and rather cheap. More damage on you or your vehicles doesnt make it “hard”, Hangar 13, it makes it a poorly optimized difficulty. This difficulty in tandem with large deadzone and input lag softlocked me For 2 hours inside a farm escape mission, in a constant loop of the turret destroying my turret in a matter of 10 seconds, and me not being able to destroy the turret 3 times that fast. On PC without vertical sync and no input lag it might be an easy mission to complete, but on PS4 Its impossible, replaying the whole chapter for Tommy to have more health didn’t help, it just locks you in this hell of 20 second loading screens, and instant demolishion of your truck by that turret (or tommy’s death). Knowing the awful performance on this game i I had to end up using Speedrunner strats of spamming the pause button (while shooting the turret) to slow down the game framerate and not miss a single shot on it. It worked. Its just crazy that i had to end up cheating and breaking the game in order to complete this mess of a mission.

    5. Sandbox is gone. The game is a dumbed down corridor-esque mission-by-mission rollercoaster. The variety of ways you could complete the mission is no more. The sandbox type of walkthrough is not possible and removed in most missions. The game is holding your hand through large amount of forced cutscenes, checkpoints and corridors.
    The enemies will not appear until you hit a trigger or move further. Some missions are so dumbed down and programmed in such an outdated and broken fashion that you can literally run past all enemies and hit a cutscene trigger, and you essentially completed the mission, missing a 40 minute mindless shootout. Sometimes there is no way to quit the vehicle during mission. Sometimes you can’t attack or cant run (you can imagine Hangar 13 saying: “Here’s the deal, player, we are forcing you to look at our interrior details, so we removed run feature inside buildings”). There is no way to complete the “Visiting Rich” completely stealth, or without casualties like in original. You also cant enter side door, or backdoor of the building like the original. You also can’t ask salvatore to lockpick doors, instead you play a stupid hide-and seek scripted sequence which makes it look silly. You are also forced to take out the entire army of bad guys in the garden-maze and can only enter the building using the front door. The maid is also not hostile and cant alarm guards, so essentially you can run around the mansion like Usain Bolt, making this mission pale and dumb in comparison to the original atmospheric hitman-like experience.

    6. The rewritten score pales in comparison and hardly touches any strings of the players soul (mine especially.) If it does, its because they mixed-in some notes from the original score, the other “battle” or “sad themes are generic and dull. The musical pieces feel out of place sometimes, and not as epic or emotional. Why not just remix the original 2002 soundtrack is beyond me (you had one job)

    7. Removed content/features/details. This includes: no way to ride trolly or subway. Essentially no “Garage”. Just “select your car” type of thing. You can’t park your cars in backyard of Salieri’s bar and expect them to stay there. Less cars in game. Lucas Bertone missions are removed, you hardly interact with Ralphie (he doesnt teach you how to steal each car, making the car progression essentially non-existent). Weapon names are dumbed down (no Colt, no Smith and Vessons, just PISTOL, SHOTGUN etc.). When shooting in the car, Tommy shoots Through the freaking windshield instead of sticking his hand through the window like in the original.

    Story: The story in Mafia takes place in New Haven a re-imagining of Chicago during in the prohibition era, so we are playing the era of Al Capone, John Dillinger & Bugsy Siegel. You play as Tommy Angelo a cab driver who gets taken by gun point by the Salieri family during a shoot out with a rival family turning Tommy's life around. You start off as a simple errand boy as you do in the life of the costanostra and you move your way up in the family fast to taking the omerta & becoming a made guy pulling off liquor heist with the rest of the crew who are memorable characters Paulie and Sam. As you progress through the story you get your self in a little bit of trouble and now are looking for a way out for the safety of you and your family; so what do you do you turn informant. By doing this you are telling the entire story to the police and you are living that story.
    Game play: The game play is not your typical open world shooter, it is very linear though there is no side missions to do at all just collectibles. It works very much the same way and action adventure 3rd person shooter works. Using cover, blind firing & my favourite part of this is that it works like an old school game you have a health bar that if you lose all your health you die; this added to the fun for me. The shooting is a bit more difficult then previous games because Vito & Lincoln were military trained while Tommy is just a street guy.

    Graphics: The game does look a little bit dated but hey I get it its an 18 year old game but the updated graphics do look nice. There are some lighting issues I noticed which seems to a pattern for Hangar 13 and the games they release. There are some textures that will appear out of no where which seems to happen a lot too this also seems to be a pattern for Hangar 13.

    Verdict: Mafia Definitive Edition was a breath of fresh air for me and was exactly what I needed when it came to a new game it was linear and it was not and RPG, it kept me entertained on my toes a little bit & kept me guess.

    The graphical design is astonishing, cutscenes were redone perfectly, gameplay is smooth and the game got rid of tedious tasks (e.g. the train ride with Paulie, drive back to the bar). I absolutely loved the classic difficulty, the race took a lot out of me. It has some bugs though. I hope they're going to be fixed soon.

    Worthy remake of an iconic game that I played back when it came out. Remake improves upon a lot of things. Better visuals (obviously), more professional acting and one of the best driving mechanics in any open world game. I think it's silly when people complain that the game has empty open world since this is a remake of a game that was exactly like this.     I was initially underwhelmed, but it got better and better as I kept playing. The separation between missions and free-roam was a bit off-putting, but it ultimately kept the story streamlined and prevented needless padding. The combat is the most lackluster element; the guns don't feel very effective and the ones that do will run out of ammo easily. I'm terrible at it in every other open-world game, but the oldie cars here are obviously much slower, which helped me plan my escape routes with ease. Plus, executing all the turns while the car slides around the street is really satisfying.

    The story is consistently engaging and the performances are all strong, aided by the updated graphics that look really good (most of the time). Characters' eyes occasionally look kinda scary, and the world looks a little too plain during the daytime, but most of the cutscenes are impressive. My main complaint with the narrative is that it definitely stagnates in the final third, with a finale that feels too rushed. I could've gone for more context and cause-and-effect in the final three missions.

    I never played the original so it was pretty fun to experience this. It's not as deep or content-heavy as today's games, but I thought they rightfully made up for it by pricing this at $40. And I think when it goes down to $30 or less, it'll become an absolute steal and a gem of its own.    … Expand

    Postavy sú prepracované... Niektoré majú pozmenený charakter - Hlavne Tommy,Sam,Paulie,Sára a Salieri...
    Ale napríklad Ralph už nieje len obyčajný koktavý mechanik ktorý vám len raz začas dohodí auto
    Čo sa misií týka
    V prvej misií je síce nepriateľov viac... Ale je omnoho ľahšie im uniknúť než to bolo v originále...
    Všetky misie sú celkovo skvelé no ku koncu idú strašne rýchlo za sebou že sa ani nenazdáte a zrazu ste v galerií...
    Závod je na extrémnu obtiažnosť ♥♥♥♥ ťažký ale hra viacej odpúšťa takže napríklad sa nemusíte báť že po viacerých nárazoch vám odpadne koleso...
    Vzťah Tommyho a Sáry je rozšírený o nejaké detaily ale nejak veľký dopad to na hru nemá...
    Dosť veľkou zmenou si prešiel koniec hry...

    Tommy už na konci nepôsobí vôbec prekvapene keď za ním prídu Vito a Joe ale vypadá že dobre vedel že ten deň raz príde tak na otázku ''Pan Angelo?'' odpovie ''Ano'' s kľudom pripravený čeliť svojmu osudu ktorému tak dlho utekal... Nakoniec zomiera v kruhu svojej rodiny s vedomím že jeho rodina je konečne v bezpečí

    Hru som prešiel dokopy 3 krát
    Raz na Normál na PS4
    A dvakrát na Classic (1x PC a 1x PS4)

    Trochu som sa bál ako sa po Mafií 3 Hangar 13 popasuje s týmto Remakom a mal som trochu obavy aby to neskončilo fiaskom
    Ale na moje prekvapenie Remake sa Hangaru 13 dosť podaril... Zmeny či už menšie alebo väčšie Remaku dosť prospeli ... Hlavne to strieľanie ktoré už je v originále na dnešnú dobu zastaralé (ale zároveň to nové už nerobí z Mafie tak ťažkú hru ako si ju pamätáme)
    Aj keď mám už Remake dokončený 3 krát určite si ho dám niekedy znovu

    P.S. Český dabing je ♥♥♥♥ úžasný...

But it's the programming that really ruins the playability of the game and makes this a low score for me. It's as if nobody play-tested this thing. It's frustrating and annoying.

    If the game is $4.99 USD or less, it's probably a good value. But anything above that is a waste of money unless you enjoy furiously unfair game play.    … Expand

The way ut feels, the atmosphere, cars, and story are just fantastic. I really weren't expected a good remake from Hangar 13, after mafia 3 and its unoriginal story, but now i see they made a hard work to not to disappoint gamers. Yeah I've seen a lot of people critisising mafia because its more casual than the original one, or people saying that they are quitting game because of that race, I've seen people critisizing the remake for its story changes and etc.. but lets be more rational, compared to new pay to win or 1000 hours online games, or left wing propagandistic games, and games without any esthetic sense, mafia remake is just fantastic. The gameplay, and by this i mean shootings, driving and etc... doesn' make you be bored. Story changes are logical and make story more inteeesting. Saras romance is now more clear, and because of new graphics, the game is looking more cinematic and more dramatic. I love this game, especially when I've seen the updated ending, that's looking more emotional. The games is really great, and after I ended the orginal one, I can truly say that people saying that the original is way beter, I surely just missing the good old games, but the gaming industry is changing. I also miss the good old days of ps2, but i admit the fact that like any other media branch, gaming is in cinstant developpement. Mafia definitive edition ans RE 2 remake are by far my favourite remakes, an mafia definiive edition truly deserves a nomination at game awards.… Expand

    l think Mafia Definitive Edition is really good, but it just needs daily updates on the free ride. It would be cooler if we can customize the cars a little more, and maybe more weapons.

    I never was able to get through the clunky ps2 port of the original game so this new DE version was pretty much a new experience for me and have played mafia 2 and 3 as well and loved them but this one right here is by far the best in my opinion! And for that price boii doe!!!!     The off centre camera angle with no way of changing it is annoying. The shooting mechanics are annoying. The fact its not an open free world just mission after mission is annoying but apart from those few things I found myself enjoying this game. Nostalgia bug satisfied.

The main character is incapable of running properly, can't walk in a straight line and there's a delay in every movement you make. just feels horrible. gun fights are tedious and numerous times i've been shot by enemy AI that have appeared through solid walls. Numerous glitches which have required restarting the gamelooks nice and the story is great, but the controls are utterly awful. Numerous glitches which have required restarting the game (chasing down Carlo being one. he got stuck inside a wall while running) the race near the beginning of the game brings the story to a grinding halt early on, while you try 50 times to win, and again very glitchy (got myself way ahead of the pack, had a good distance between me and the two cars behind. on the last straight they apparently teleported to right beside me then flew past despite me being flat out on a straight) This had the potential to be great. but the horrible sluggish controls and many many glitches make it far from fun to play.… Expand

    Сел, поставил классическую сложность, чтобы как 16 лет назад. Дошел до миссий с гоночным болидом - проклял все, пока выключил. Но ремейк от оригинала однозначно отличается в лучшую сторону.
